((OOC: Hope I'm not too late either))

Jurgen Marx pulled the olive-green jacket over his white shirt and did the button up on his jeans, before dowsing his beds pillow in kerosene and checked the door to his apartment was locked before pulling the flesh-maniquin from the closet and placing it under the bead sheets, wiping a bead of sweat of his forehead and brushing is long black hair out his eyes as he did so. He then grabbed what little money he had left from his kitchen counter and lit a cigarette, Placing it next to the pillow by the manequins mouth. He then hurried to the window, vaulted the balcony and landed cat-like in the alley below. He breifly swiveled his head, checking no-one had seen, Before pulling open a sewer grate and hopping down, casting a breif glance back at his apartment window which was now glowing a fiery orange, as he did so. He bought himself to his feet and trudged down the passage just as the sound of fire alarms started blaring above.

Nobody follows a dead man, Do they?
The wind blows, I lean into the wind.
My anger grows, I'll use to win
The more you say, the more I defy you
So get out of my way.

All my will, all my strength, Rip it out, start again.

Mika bundled herself deeper into her coat and scarf while mumbling soft curses at the cold night air. Even though she had glanced at the thermometer built into to watch to find that it'd read 56 degree Fahrenheit, she still felt like her whole body was slowly being frozen. Perhaps it was the wind from the coast that chilled her so. The armory wasn't far from the port. The weapons cargo that was going to arrive was supposed to arrive from port. Where the goods originated from, Mika didn't have a clue. She never got much information for any mission, one because she was a rank that people high above always walked over, and two, she was a women. She'd been the butt of her fellow guards jokes, had glinting eyes follow her, and one too many cat-calls made at her.
"Women in the guard," she had once heard someone say. "What's she supposed to do, teach us to do houseshit? Bull."
"Nah, maybe it's something else," another added, and Mika clearly remembered hearing him snicker, followed by the two of those men making obscene sounds and gestures. If she were higher up, she would've made those men think otherwise before making lewd comments about her or any other female in the guard
"That's what I want," she licked her cold-bitten lips with a glazed, hopeful gaze in her eyes. "Some bloody respect."

Jurgen's torch flickered and died. He cursed the darkness and smacked the thing of a wall and light flooded the corridor. Mumbling obscenities he folded a map out of his pocket and discovered he was a short way from the armory.
"Things seem to be going right" he thought "Surely a bad sign".
Jurgen took a left and saw the door already open, He flattened himself against the wall and peeked around the corner. It was empty, Taking care for booby traps, he went inside.
He spent just enough time to take a large caliber handgun and small personal defence shotgun from the rack. Jurgen loved that gun, Made in south africa it was the size and shape of an old uzi but held 12 8-Gauge shotgun shells. He grabbed some batteries on the way out and took care to shut the door. He then began running along the tunnel towards the meeting point.
His torch flickered and died. Jurgen began cursing in German.

Emma sighed. She knew the question was coming. She could see it on Corvan's face. "For my father," she smirked and sighed again, "he was a member of the Guard. When I was a child my father was a Lt. Colonel. We lived well, to say the least. You've probably heard the stories about how the high ranking military officials live? I promise you, all those stories are true. The parties, the fine silks, and good food. Life for me was like in the stories we tell to children, Corvan." She jogged to catch up to him. "However, my father was working for the resistance. That was years ago, before it was nearly as organized as it is today. Then it was just whispers of a beginning. When the military found out about my father's work with the people he was discharged. My family lost everything. We were forced to live within the city. We were fine for a while. Then, the Military changed their minds. They killed my father for betraying them, and my mother died a year later. I was 16, and spent years looking for the resistance that my father had worked to support until his death. This is how I honor his memory." She wrapped her arms around her body and a tear spilled over her cheek. "What about you, why are you here?" She roughly wiped the tear away, hoping Corvan hadn't seen it.

He stoped and leaned against the wall. he saw a tear on her face but ignored it. He turned to her looking at her. " killed everyone i loved..family my girlfriend..even my bestfriend" He stared at the ground for a little bit " was a get togthere..and someone in the military thought they were planning a attack or something like that." i was late..by 5 minutes" He looked at her for a minute, it was easy to see he was holding back tears at this point. " after that..i started fighting back..weapon movement..these tunnels few bomb placements..the works" He looked at emma still" i fight them to avenge them, and i won't stop till the guard is in chaos." He wiped his eyes with his sleeve looking up and down the tunnel " don't know what will happen after this plan" he said as he pushed off the wall, turning to her.

Emma shook her head slowly, "neither do I, Corvan." She smiled softly, "but, tonight, I suppose it won't matter. Things will either change, or we'll die." She started back down the tunnel, then after bout 500 feet she stopped short, "actually, you should probably lead." She laughed softly. The air began to cool, and Emma slipped her long coat back over her shoulders and tightened the sash around her waist.

Emma's eyes narrowed in thought. "I don't know. I guess I haven't thought that far ahead. The resistance has been my life since I was 16. When it's all over I don't know what I'll do. I've always wanted to visit England." She shrugged again. God, Emma, come up with something interesting to say. She followed him around corners, turn after turn, until she was totally lost. There was silence for nearly ten minutes. "IF we survive, what will your plans be?"

A call from behind nearly mad Mika whirl around and smack the black shadow approaching her.
"Hey Mika, yeeeowch--!"
The frightened guard lashed out, violently hitting whatever had spoken to her across it's shadowed face. It fell to the ground, yelping and clutching onto itself.
"Bitch!" it hissed at her.
"Oh," Mika muttered. "It's just you."
From the shadows emerged a young man, hair as bright as an orange, also in a guard's uniform. He cupped his reddened cheek and whimpered as he shot Mika a hurt glare.
"Bloody bitch."
"Nice to see you too, Elias."
"Heeey," the youth pointed an objective finger at the women. "That's Corporal Wilk to you, Private."
Mika felt like something had just crushed inside of her and that somebody was stomping upon that crushed thing. "You got promoted?"
"You bet your sweet ass I did," the newly appointed Corporal grinned. Mika wanted to smack him again.

Jurgen found another sewer grate at steadily hauled himself up into the pale moonlight, Glittering through the smog. He had surfaced in an alley and was greeted by the familiar signs of the slums, Graffiti was plastered all over the wall and the floor was covered with empty bottles and ciggarette butts.
"at least there's no surprises" he sighed. Cautiously he made his way way round the corner of the alley. Then a right, then a left, another left...

He ducked back around the corner before the two guardsmen could see him, He could of sworn one looked female. Didn't matter, What DID matter was getting to the rendevouz alive, Preferably without stirring up any trouble. Jurgen slowly backed away, But his feet caught on a loose cobble and he pitched backwards, Arms flailing. He hit some trashcans on the way down and
the resulting high-pitched clatter rang out across the alleyway, Followed by a few moments of deafening silence eventually broken by shouts from the gaurds.
Jurgen swore.

"Crap! Over there, Mika!" Elias said, pointing towards the direction of the loud, clanging sound. Mika nodded and held her pistol to her chest, her hand nervously grasping onto it's handle. Without a second to waste, Elias ran off towards the origin of the sound, weapon exposed, it's own feeling just a wee bit trigger happy at finally finding some excitement in the boring, cold night. Mika felt numb as she followed her friend and her throat tightened with each long stride she took.
"Damn it," she mentally cursed. "I hope to God it's a cat."

Emma nodded, she knew that feeling well. Total loss. She sighed and opened her mouth to speak, but couldn't find any words. Her hair fell into her face and she swept it back. She looked at Corvan, and for the first time in a long while, she was another human being standing in front of her. All the people in the God-forsaken city they lived in had turned into machines. She felt sometimes like no one else in the world still had a heart, or feelings. She thought the whole world had been jaded. But now, she could see the man in front of her, and knew that he was not another desensitized man running around for no reason other than to keep from going crazy.

A distant thudding sounded far away, and the hairs on the back of Emma's neck stood on end. Her head automatically turned in the direction of the sound, but in the labyrinth of halls they were in, there was really no way to tell from where the sound did originate. "Do you hear that, Corvan?" Her hand gripped the loaded pistol clinging to her back.

He saw her staring at him and smiled at her a little. But it dissapeared almost as quickly as it came. He pulled out his automatic weapon and clicked the safety off. He turned behind them, from the way they came and aimed down the tunnel. "emma..we will have to talk later.." slinging his weapon to the side, Corvan reached for her hand pulling her along and ran as fast as he could with her down the tunnel. Within minutes they reached a small ladder. " Emma you go up first, were not at tylers but a safehouse, food water weapons and ammo, places to sleep all of that. GO!" he told her as he turned around aiming his gun at were they came hoping they were not followed.

Ooc .o O (Hope it's still going on)

Wind rushed against the pale face of a man who could be no older then twenty-three. The man was dressed in an all black suit with a white tie, and black shinny loafers. Anyone who laid eyes on the man instantly knew he was part of the Government, and had to be semi-high ranking. Long black hair danced with the passing wind rushing in from the open door of the chopper he patiently sat in. As the chopper began to land he reached in his pocket and grabbed his trademark sunglasses and slid them to the resting spot on his nose. A scar ran along his face down his right eye. Grabbing the brief case he placed it on his lap and waited for the landing. "Doomp' Was the sound he waited to hear as he jumped off and lowered his head as he ran to three men waiting in front of him. "Good morning sir" The man nodded and continued with his now entourage to a door leading down into the building. brief case in hand he held on to it tight. "Is everything ready for the meeting?" The man t his left nodded. "Links have been set up for the meeting sir, your brother should be live in fifteen." The man nodded, as he continued down he pulled a pack of hand rolled cig's from his blazer pocket and a set of matches. Placing the cig between his lips he struck the match and lit it. Taking in a deep breath and letting it out slowly. "Sir there is no.." "Finish that sentence and I'll make sure you have no choice but to join the outsiders.." The young man quickly nodded and opened the door for the fine dressed man.

Apon entering the room an older fellow wearing a brown buisness suit was standing at the end of a long wooden table with his back towards the door. Short white hair and balding, easily taken for a general or something of that sort. "Mr. Shin, so good of you to join us, it seems we have a pressing matter." Jyin nodded and placed the brief case on the table. "Anything else I should know about or can we get this meeting started so I can continue with my duties." The old man nodded "We need you to get your brother in here and help us get rid of this infestation we have been dealing with lately." Jyin chuckled a little bit " You mean the resistance, am I correct?" The old man nodded "You mean to tell me you can't handel a little group? Come on sir, are my brother and I really needed for this?" The old man sighed and continued "We would like to keep this under raps Mr. Shin quick and easy, you had to know that or we would not of assigned you to this mission." Jyin sighed and sat down at the end chair and leaned back. "Bring up the screen and dial in for my brother, though I know he will not be happy to hear this news..." as the old man brought the screen up, Jyin waited and continued to puff on his cig. Waiting to see a brother he has not seen in three years.
"I hope you die right now when you drink my chemical, and if you cry out loud, it will only make me feel to good.'

Re: Resistance

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Rush on Fri Oct 05, 2007 2:14 am

Some hours earlier...

The Hall of Records is such a lonely building so late at night, thinks a man of mixed-heritage with short, unkempt brown hair, a man named Ch'en. Drugs, books, computer hard drives, videos, contraband, mind pornography, all this and more surrounds Ch'en as he navigates the wing of illegal materials. The creepy dim-lit atmosphere serves a sense of foreboding. The room is the size of a library, and indeed, gives off the complete impression of one, only filled with more than just books. Ch'en was in here this evening filling out an order for a most wealthy client. Ch'en's open access to this room makes for a lucrative side job. Satisfied with his work, Ch'en leaves with a stash of marijuana, an illegal movie of entertainment, a backpack and duffy bag full of top secrets, a desire to head home, and a smug expression on his face.

Arriving at his apartment soundlessly, he unlocks the door and rotates the doorknob with his left hand. All is quiet. He flicks on a light. A host of dirty laundry and blunt roaches infest the floor. He unbuttons his blazer and slides it off his shoulders to the floor, tugs off his tie and tosses it upon the jacket, unbuttons his collar and wrists. A few moments later, he is on his recliner/bed, label-free alcohol in one hand and a remote to the TV and VCR in the other.

"Reefer Madness, Reefer madness! Turning all our children into hooligans and whores," the TV sings. Ch'en rips out a sheet of rolling paper froma small package on the coffee table. Supporting the paper with his middle and index fingers, he places the weed onto the paper and spreads it out a touch at a time, evenly. He folds the joint up from the middle outward, finally sealing the tea stick firmly. He reaches in his shirt pocket, fingers fumbling until they grab a hold of matches. He strikes it, the flame flickers, and the joint is lit. Time slows into a forgotten memorial as Ch'en passes out, smashed.

A ringtone of ascending chromatic scales wails jarringly from the coffee table beside him.

"What the fuck," Ch'en moans groggily as he lifts his heavy eyelids. Extending is arm sightlessly for his cellphone, he knocks a clock to the floor.

"Who calls at this time in the fuckin' morning?" he mumbles rhetorically.

Apparently no good high life brothers who haven't shown their faces for years.

Ch'en flicks open his phone, much like a sidekick, and stares blankly at the face before him for a bit.

"And to what do I owe this pleasure?"

Jyin sat snug in the chair as he sighed when his brothers face came onto the screen. "So Ch'en been keeping busy?" Jyin smirked knowing his brother was most likely toking on a joint and sitting watching contraband. "You should really clean your place up." He nodded and removed his sunglasses. Jyin looked at the balding man with his pale green eyes. The sign of the Shin family. "Ch'en, long time no see, but for now lets skip the small talk. We need you down at Sector eight as soon as you possible can. So that means clean up and get your ass over here." Jyin ran his hand through his hair and leaned back taking another puff of his smoke. Standing up the monitor followed Jyins every movement. "Apparently they are having trouble getting rid of this renegade force and have sent in for us. "I have just arrived so you do not have to worry about my knowledge of the situation being greater then yours big brother." Jyin smirked and stood next to the balding man. "This fine old guy, is the reason for the summoning. He thinks our abilities are needed for such a job. Usually i would think this was beneath us but, I figured you could use the money." Jyin laughed again and patted the man on the back. "Now listen I will not have you leaving me to do this all on my own again. I am demanding you join me in this, I know you could use the money as well." Some would ask who Jyin thought he was talking so disrespectful in front of a senior officer, but then again that was just Jyin's style. He adjusted his tie and walked back to his brief case. Grabbing it and bringing it down to his side.he looked to the monitor. "Actually meet me at 1745 Blair street, you remember the place right?" Jyin smirked one more time and took his last puff before ashing it out on the table. Jyin nodded to his brother and the man as he left the room and headed for the parking garage.

Of course Jyin knew his brother would have no problem finding the place. It was their hang out when they were just mercs for the government before their talent was finally seen and offered a job. He reached the elevator and waited for it. Digging in his right pocket digging out his keys. He sighed as the elevator opened and entered. Jyin's eyes went directly to the no smoking sign. Digging in his pockets once again he grabbed his pack of smokes and pulled out his last one. Lighting it he pressed the button stating G and waited for the doors to close. A Short brunette lady entered and nodded to him saying "You know there is no smoking in here correct sir" Jyin let of a small grin and said softly "I've been getting that a lot today." Watching the doors close he leaned over to the woman "Hello there, My name is Jyin, what's yours?" The lady smiled "Sarah" Jyin leaned against the elevator wall and looked up taking another drag and letting it out "How about you give me your number and I'll give you a call a little later and we can have some drinks?" The lady smiled and nodded "Sorry I do not drink." Jyin smirked and replied "Well then how about a quickie?" The lady gasped at his words and took a step away. Jyin shrugged and kept smoking. The elevator stopped and Jyin exited after the lady. Pressing the alarm button he watched the doors of his car open. Looking at the lady as she watched with intrest he smirked and said once more. "You sure" The lady smiled and walked over to the car. Entering the car Jyin followed and closed the door.

2 hours later...

Jyin opened the door and pushed the woman out. "Thanks" he said as he drove off. The tires of his SUV screeched in the distance as the woman cursed his very name. That was Jyin for you a woman user and to the fullest extent. As he drove down the streets he came to know so well he unbuttoned his blazer and loosened his tie. Unbuttoning his his sleeves and rolling them up, he dugg around for a smoke in his car. "Hmm" lifting his hand up he found the womans panties she had left. Rolling down the window he tossed them to the street. Rolling up the window he found a very length roach of a blunt he had saved. lighting a match he sparked it up leaned back and drove down the street hot boxing before his meeting with his brother. Pulling up to the bar he sat in his car, and continued smoking knowing his brother would be late he pressed play and the sounds of an old CD came running through his head. " A new recruit, 25 years old. He joined the habbit with a chip on his shoulder." Thats right Jyin had found a 'Cursive' cd from the past. Well not CD anymore since everything was updated. Leaning back and still smoking he closed his eyes waiting for his brother.

The thudding of boots quickly brought him to his senses and Jurgen pulled his pistol from his jacket and hugged the corner of the wall, remembering his training, he took a brief peek and flew back as the corner of the wall exploded in a shower of brickwork. He turned and sprinted, firing blindly over his shoulder while more bullets screamed past him, seemingly tearing apart the air. Just as he turned a corner he felt a burning pain in is right thigh, it felt just like something had jumped up and bit him, causing him to pitch sideways gasping in the sharp pain. He grunted as his head hit the floor around the corner.

His parents teaching him to ski in the Austrian mountains

The smiling face of his first girlfriend, Klara

His first day of medical training in the German armed forces

His mothers blood curdling scream as his father was ripped apart by gunfire

The doctor saying his cancer was terminal and he had about two months to live.

As the adrenaline pumped memories into his mind, he looked up and was only dimly aware of the face of a fellow resistance member above him. There was an odd rushing sensation as sound rushed back to his ears and he was collected once more. Gritting his teeth in pain he slowly hauled himself up hearing small arms fire burst from all around. Gritting his teeth he rolled over and tore a sleeve of his arm and wrapped the makeshift bandage over the wound, stemming the flow of blood.
