The Star of Light

a character in “A Fallen Star”, as played by RainWish

Description

Theia

Image

Age
Infinite. She appears to be roughly 18.

Description
The Star of Light has not had a true appearance for many years. In the sky, she was simply an orb of light. On earth, however, she has flowing blonde hair and soft blue eyes. Her skin is a porcelain white without a single blemish. She wears loose Greek clothing from her last appearance on earth many centuries ago.

Personality
Theia's personality is what can be expected from the Star of Light. Bright, happy, optimistic, she is the face of good fortune and luck. The oddities of the human world enchant her and she loves the feeling of the sun on her skin. She is unfamiliar with human customs and will sometimes cause a strange commotion. She has a heightened sense of morals and will not stand by for anything. She is unable to mask her emotions, leading her to read like an open book.

Fears
~Darkness~
~Being Alone~
~Fighting with her Sister~
~Being unable to return to the Stars~

Likes
~Cotton Candy (will discover... hopefully) ~
~Animals~
~Light~
~The Sun~

Belongings
All that Theia has is her clothing which appears to be directly from the ancient Greeks and a white stone pendant. Before dawn, she must entrust the pendant's care to the hands of a mortal or she will burn out forever.

History
Theia has had many names throughout her long life. One of the first, given to her by the Greeks, was Theia. It is now what she calls herself as that was the last time she came to earth. She has lived among the stars her entire life and considers them to be her family. However, Theia does have a real family. Or at least an older sister named Nyx. Long ago, Nyx and Theia were Greek Goddesses. It soon became clear, however, that Nyx had become obsessed with power and the thought of an eternal night. To protect the humans, Theia tricked her sister into living among the stars where both goddesses could have their fill of night and day. Over the years, Nyx has begun to loathe her sister and has finally seized the opportunity to strike back once and for all.

So begins...

Theia frowned softly to herself, fingering the gown that she had arrived in. What else could she wear then? If not Sora's clothing, then surely not his father's as the man was much larger than even Sora. And, without any other females in the house, it appeared that she would be unable to borrow any clothing. She sighed softly in annoyance, however her attention was quickly distracted by a billowing leaf on the nearby ground. She raced off t catch it, smiling as she did so. This planet was so beautiful. If only she had come on better terms and could enjoy it longer. She glanced over to Sora, thinking about what he had said earlier. A warm feeling had passed over her when he suggested that he would miss her. She considered if she could be coming down with something and decided against it. Perhaps she would ask later why she felt that way, or maybe she would figure it out on her own. Either way, Theia returned obediently to Sora's side, not wanting to be far from him. She felt safe here.

"The shops? Like a market place? That would be fun to visit! Let's go!" she said with a smile, linking hands with Sora and running forward. Suddenly she paused in thought, looking around the area as if waiting for a sign to pop out of the ground and point the direction. "I have no idea where I am going," she said with a small pout. "This world is so confusing."

The shops? Like a market place? That would be fun to visit! Let's go!"

Sora followed Theia for as long as she ran, knowing that soon she would realise that she had no idea where to go.

I have no idea where I am going. This world is so confusing.

"I'm sure you'll get used to it...This way, perhaps."

He gestured in the opposite direction altogether, and began to walk, his hand still entwined in hers. As they made their way into town, Sora just now realised that Theia was barefoot. How is that me just now noticing that...? Seriously, am I that oblivious?

"Okay, so we should head into the different shops, see what catches your eye, and then we can go from there."

He produced a mobile phone, and sent his dad a text, asking if anything was needed for supper. As he awaited a reply, he half-followed, half-guided Theia around the various clothing shops, hoping that his wallet would be able to survive the hit it was sure to take...

Theia smiled as Sora led her around, humming as they went. Everything here fascinated the girl, almost as much as her strange attire fascinated those around them. She paused to wave at a young girl through the window, the child, 5 or 6, giggled in amusement before being pulled away by the mother.

At the suggestion of a store clerk, Theia chose a pair of jeans and a long sleeved, pastel pink sweater with tennis shoes. The clerk allowed Theia to wear them out of the store and bagged up her Greek robes. She found the situation strange, but did not dare question what was going on. Theia laughed, still holding Sora's hand as she saw nothing wrong with the innocent action. "What do you think, Sora? Do you like this outfit better?" she asked cutely, glancing up at him. "It's definitely warmer. Thank you for this." She smiled and then paused, her eyes widening slightly. "This way," she said suddenly, pulling Sora into a nearby ally. She paused and glanced around nervously, her hand squeezing Sora's tightly. "She's near. . . I can feel her."

Meanwhile:

Not far down the street, a female with long black hair in a black sweater and jeans sat with a boy inside a coffee shop. The female looked bored, her muffin barely touched as the boy tried to continue conversation. "Maybe she hasn't come to Earth yet, Nyx. Or maybe we are in the wrong town. We could--"

"No," Nyx hissed, her violet eyes shifting down upon Markus. "You saw the nlght last night. And it would be too convinent for her not to have found a guardian. We just have to keep looking."

"Nyx, we've searched everywhere," Markus sighed, reaching over to grip her hand. "Maybe we should rest for a day or two. You know, keep our energy up."

Nyx tisked her tongue in detest, her eyes flashing at the simple request. Before she could lash out, she paused. A simple smile spreading on her face. "She's here."

Sora walked along, mindful of the looks that they were receiving, Just ignore them...Just...ignore them. Sora was holding back the urge to scream random profanities at the people that pasted them, making their opinions known through their eyes. Barely, mind you.

Once Theia was wearing more appropriate clothing, this was made slightly easier, but her bouncy nature still attracted attention, since it was still fairly early morning, which was usually a more...sombre time of the day. Not well suited for...well an earthbound star, who was fascinated by every little thing. Even Sora himself was having to push himself to keep up with her.

What do you think, Sora? Do you like this outfit better?

"Hmm? Oh...Umm, I think you really suit those clothes...Not to say you don't suit the other clothes..." Before he could get a hold of his thoughts, she grabbed him into an alley, She's near. . . I can feel her.

Suddenly awake and aware, Sora felt his fist clench. Fuck... Taking deep breaths, he attempted to think of what to do, "C-Can you tell where she is?" He asked Theia, worry, even fear, evident in his voice...

He peered out into the street, looking for any sign of...well any thing out of the ordinary, but could only see familiarity. Same street, same shops. Nothing ever changed in Bellum. Not until now...

Theia shook her head slightly and closed her eyes in concentration. "No, I don't know where she is. I just know that she is near." Theia took a deep breath and opened her blue eyes to look at Sora, her face grave. "And she probably knows that I'm here."

Theia sighed softly and bit her lower lip, looking around for somewhere to go. She was ready, but Theia was afraid that Sora wasn't. "I thought we would have more time. I thought. . . ."

Nyx smiled and stood up suddenly, whisking her hair over her shoulder. "Come, Markus," Nyx ordered, striding away from the table.

Markus blinked in surprise before stumbling up after Nyx, tossing a few coins on the table to cover the bill. "Coming Nyx!" he called, following her out of the shop like a lost puppy. He ran slightly to catch up with her. "Where are we going?"

Nyx smiled wickedly to him. "To find my darling baby sister," she purred. She smiled, holding her hand out in front of her creating a purplish-black smog. She walked down the street and paused, smiling to the pair in the ally. "Hello sister," she cooed. To anyone standing near, it would have appeared that the girls were looking into a mirror. Besides for color differences in hair, eyes, and slightly skin, that looked exactly alike.

Theia blinked in surprise and pushed herself in front of Sora, frowning deeply. "Nyx. What do you want?" Her eyes drifted toward Markus, judging that he was Nyx's guardian. "Is he is. . . "

"But who else?" Nyx purred. She pushed past Theia and smiled to Sora, touching his cheek softly. "He's cute. Who's this?"

"Nyx!" Markus called out, taking her arm and pulling the black star away. He looked to Sora awkwardly, refusing to meet his eyes. "Stop playing around Nyx," he said softly.

Nyx blinked in surprise, a wicked smile passing her face as she held Markus's arm and petted his face softly. "Oh, did I upset you Markus? How sweet."

Theia glared at Nyx and stood beside Sora protectively.

Sora didn't expect Nyx to make such a...sudden appearance. And then there was how she acted...Even now, Sora could tell that she got pleasure in other people's dismay.

He had a plan to get away...He just needed to...Yes! He managed to burn the crumpled receipt in his hand, meaning that he now held a small handful of embers instead of a piece of crumpled paper. On the downside, even this small use of his powers started to cause fog gather in his mind. He had to really focus not to show any sign of exertion, anything that would give away his plan. He was glad that her guardian seemed...distracted by her interest in him. Carefully, he took Theia's hand, as well as a deep breath, "You know? You're quite...HOT!" At this he threw the embers into the boy's face, hoping to get his eyes. This was their chance to escape. He pulled Theia and put as much strength as he could muster behind his shoulder, aiming slightly between the two, hoping that their feet weren't firmly planted...

Theia glared a Nyx, her pale features twisted in detest as the Star of Darkness touched her guardian. As Sora grabbed Theia's hand tenderly, she readied herself for whatever he had planned. She squeezed his hand softly to tell him that she there, but also to tell herself that it was her hand that Sora held, not Nyx's. Usually not one to be spurn by rivalry, Theia felt herself drawing possessive over Sora. He was her guardian. . . Her friend. Nyx had her own. "You know? You're quite...HOT!"

Theia lurched forward with Sora, the pair of Darkness parting as Markus clawed at the pain in his eyes and Nyx scowled in detest at the trickery. Theia gripped her pendant tightly, her knucks turning snow as they ran. Although the pendant was nothing more than a crystal now, it was a good conductor for her energy. It glowed softly as Theia redirected the light's path, giving Sora and herself a sort of invisible cloak from the non-bending streams of light. In the background, Nyx scolded Markus. "Fix yourself you idiot, that are getting away! Can you do nothing right?"

Theia and Sora ran, practically across town before ducking into another ally, a safe distance away. The Star collapsed against the wall, allowing the light of the sun to once again strike their body and return their visibility. She panted softly and looked out into the busying street. "She won't be able to find us, not for awhile anyway." She sighed heavily and turned back to Sora, a flash of anger rising. "You are so stupid!" she cried loudly, shoving her hands against his chest in protest. "You could have gotten hurt." Her face fell as the anger melted away, her slender body shaking slightly as she wrapped her arms around his neck in a plea for comfort and forgiveness. "You could have gotten hurt," she repeated softly. "You can't be so risky with yourself like that. I promise I won't let her sneak up on us again. She has no conscience, she won't be afraid to take you from me."
