Alexia peered out of her car window, paying no attention to her brother, whom was sat beside her. She needn't focus all of her attention on her driving since there was no threat of hitting another person or running over anything. At worst she would've hit one of those mutated creatures that found their home within the cities and forests. She despised them more than anything in the world, even more so because she'd lost her mother and father to them.
The city was dark and gloomy, it almost radiated pure evil. The buildings were all empty, apart from the occasional dead body hanging from a window, roof or door. Part of her thought that she and her brother were the only people left alive on the entire planet, but the other part told her that there was atleast a smidge of hope left for her elsewhere. That's why she was heading for the underground base in New York, the only place left that she knew there would still be electricity. She'd allowed herself to believe that other people would have known and started for there too. Though she still had a long way to go to reach her destination, since she was headed for America and she was still stuck in London.
She placed a hand on her brothers leg and smiled, "We'll make it eventually" she told him, her voice warm and true. Deep inside, Alexia didn't even know if they would make it as far as New York, what with the increasing number of mutations coming for them. A small store caught her attention, causing her to pull up beside it and snoop through the windows. Right there in the display was a large pack of batteries, they'd last her a while if she could get her hands on them. Her gaze shifted to her brother and she smirked mockingly, "It's your turn, I believe".
