His difficulty in forming close bonds isn't really anyone's fault but his own. While he can attract interest from others, rarely does he return it. All he'll do with any new friend is force his interests on them, making it a one-way route of communication where Tomohisa speaks, but doesn't listen. As one can imagine, no one sticks around for long. It's not that the brunette does it intentionally; he simply has a one-track mind that doesn't have room for any other human beings.

Both his parents are brilliant people, and despite all their faults, Tomohisa takes great pride in them. With their absence in his life and their unusual quirks, they hold less of a parent-child relationship and are more like his older siblings than anything else. But he values the few hours they spend together as he believes that he's learnt more from them than he has in all his days at school. After all, without his father's original guidance, he'd never have been able to construct Roboticas.
This didn't come without cost though. Due to his family encouraging his thirst for knowledge and streak of self-centeredness, he never quite learnt how to socialize. He can talk to others, yes, but he'd get so caught up that he'd forget to listen. Other kids his age wound up ditching him, and the saddest thing was, he usually didn't even notice. By his book, as long as he was doing something he loved, he'd be happy. He only had one friend, and eventually even she had to leave due to family circumstance. Tomohisa convinced himself all he needed was to focus on the things he loved and he'd be satisfied. And for a time, he was.
But eventually, he realized that no man was an island, no matter how self-sufficient he may seem. It took the brunette a few years, but at least he'd made friends with the other members of the Gentlemen's club. People who would genuinely be interested and properly respond to whatever Tomohisa said. And when they decided to create Roboticas? He didn't even hesitate to create his out of his childhood friend's image.
