A Silver Ring for Andir

A Silver Ring for Andir

1 INK

Andir, once a glorious and powerful nation, is now beleaguered and dissolute in the aftermath of the Antagonist War. The old order has been fractured, and the capitol must gather its borders close. Intrigue, ambition, and malign purpose thrive.

1,024 readers have visited A Silver Ring for Andir since FathersDislikeMe created it.

Introduction

Andir has existed as the most expansive and wealthy country in the northern continent for nearly five centuries. It began as the city-state of Qadyrim, and grew from there. Cosmopolitan and inclusive, Andir expanded quickly and advanced just as fast, with their technology, social, and magical advancements leaps and bounds above most other countries. After five centuries of growth, however, the sudden advent of the Antagonist War has left Andir a shadow of its former self, with the High Council of Qadyrim spread far too thin governing its own walls to spend time or resources bringing its subservient provinces and towns back into the fold.

Left mostly to their own devices, the people have become insular and jaded, and as a once-cohesive military fractures and retreats back to their homelands, old threats from the past are rearing their ugly heads again. Self-serving officials weave machinations. Ogrekin incursions are on the rise. Unpaid mercenary bands have become bandits and raiders. Lesser nobles and provincial lords war with each other over resources and borders, and ancient enemies anathema to the mortal world are beginning to peek out from where they were hidden in shadows.

Only the truly righteous, unfailingly loyal, and completely exploitative still try to take action.

[Early Middle Ages, Medium - Low Fantasy, Player Driven, Mutable Setting]

Toggle Rules

1.) Have fun. Grim and gritty as it can be at times, role playing is about fun. So don't be a grumpy Gus or negative Nancy.

2.) Be polite. Characters can hate each other and even kill each other, but players are required to avoid insulting, demeaning, or judging other players. Also, do not let personal feelings towards another player effect the narrative. As the 11th Commandment says, "Don't be a dick."

3.) Keep World Event Discussions Civil. There's a lot of crazy out there. Feel free to talk about it OOC, but don't let it devolve into a flame war.

4.) Racism & sexism. Why do I love the United States? Why did I defend it for the years I did? Because you can have any opinions you want, and no one can do anything about it. However, if your opinions are considered "controversial" (and don't even pretend you don't know what I mean) just do your best to keep them to yourself.

5.) Fade to Black. If two (or more, I don't judge) characters are to engage in Mommy-Daddy-No-No-Time, everything up to actual consummation is totally fine. Do not describe your character banging, though. I'm cool with the buildup, but the "in and out" of it (heh) is something for, like, a PM service.

The Free City of Witchport

The Free City of Witchport by FathersDislikeMe

Rescued from the three crimelords who commanded the city sixteen years earlier, Witchport has become a functioning city once more. Ghosts of the past remain, however, and a slow, subtle ache of dread emanates from the shadows.

The Stormlord Holds

The Stormlord Holds by FathersDislikeMe

Once a free territory bordering Andir and Gazria, now divided among five families of low nobles. The Stormlords - pirates and raiders who won titles and land - govern their holds with the same apathy of their mercenary forebears.

Marshal's Square

Marshal's Square by FathersDislikeMe

Built on the bones of the city's old governor's hall, the refurbished and newly constructed buildings of Marshal's Square are pristine and professional, practical in their ornamentation. Pedestrians from all walks of life fill the square with movement.

Whisper House

Whisper House by FathersDislikeMe

Never quiet in the same place twice, it seems. This grim and gray house has seen better days. It boasts three stories and luxurious space with a small, walled courtyard, but the eerie silence surrounding it turns away most visitors. Abandoned, perhaps?

Port Authority

Port Authority by FathersDislikeMe

Witchport is a thriving trade and maritime city. The Port Authority holds an important position, governing both clerical matters and managing the peace. Hopefully relatively few of these officials are on the take.

The Golden Hall

The Golden Hall by FathersDislikeMe

Versten ar Yevallan - usually called "The Golden Hall" - is Witchport's premiere restaurant, festival venue, tavern, and gaming hall. A testament to the city's growth and the luxury it could possess.

The Adventurer's Guild

The Adventurer's Guild by FathersDislikeMe

Not an actual adventurer's guild. The name is a dig at the trade guilds, which owner Renny Mair finds universally useless. It is a large tavern catering to those hearty and gregarious souls who take up sword and shield in a search for gold and glory.

Graelan's Keep

Graelan's Keep by FathersDislikeMe

An austere stone battlement built in a narrow and treacherous mountain pass. Once manned by warriors chosen by Graelan the Verdant to protect against the various monstrous threats of the mountains, now an abandoned and haunted reminder of the past.

Redsteppe Ranch

Redsteppe Ranch by FathersDislikeMe

Known across Andir for their animal husbandry, the Redsteppe Ranch breeds some of the finest horses available. For three generations they have sold mounts to warriors and nobles alike.

The Ruins of Eirevolst

The Ruins of Eirevolst by FathersDislikeMe

Once the pristine castle town from which High Lord Eradric Oldynmenn ruled the highlands, Eirevolst stood as a symbol of fairness, righteousness, and honor. Now a blasted, vine-choked ruin populated by marauding ogrekin - a something far more terrible.

The Blackstone Bastards

The Blackstone Bastards by FathersDislikeMe

In this squat compound built like a military fortification reside the mordenmenn of the Blackstone Bastards. Exiled from their ancestral lands, they settled in Witchport as a freelance mining company. The Bastards are cantankerous even for mordenmenn.

Witchport Constabulary

Witchport Constabulary by FathersDislikeMe

In light of the city's past, the newly reformed government elected to separate the duties of the garrisons and the city watch. The Constabulary is the office of the city watch and locations of the stockades.
