Ace Combat: Ityrius Conflict

Ace Combat: Ityrius Conflict

The countries of Ityrius and Espova are at war. Battles wage on land and in the oceans, though no battles mean half so much as those fought in the air. This could only be Ace Combat.

Introduction

It is the year 2027. The world has been at peace for the last fifteen years. But wherever there is peace, there is someone whose dream it is to see that it doesn’t last…

In the small country of Ityrius, oil is found in large quantities. Rigs are erected to siphon the liquid gold and the countries dream of achieving prosperity seems to be coming true. But the other countries around Ityrius are becoming angry, knowing that the price of the fossil fuel is going to be outrageous. One such country, Espova, chooses not to pay. Instead, Espova declares war on the country of Ityrius, in hopes that they might annex the land and become the rulers of the oil.

But Ityrius responds, not in the way that Espova had believed they would. Instead of cowering like the nation of cravens that Espova had believed them to be, they mobilize their army and begin the march on the Espovan border.

Espova has no choice but to mobilize their own forces, in hopes of countering the oncoming assault.

Battles break out along the border. Skirmishes are fought within the cities. But neither side appears to be gaining any ground…

That is, until both countries decided to call in their air force.

No air force is as coveted as those of the Espovan and Ityrian nations. There were Yuktobania and Osea before them, and even Belka and Ustio before them. But now is the age of Espova and Ityrius...

Ethan slammed his flight helmet against the wet concrete.

"On top of everything," Ethan laughed sarcastically. "It had to be fricking raining too."

He felt his flight suit getting heavier as it absorbed the precipitation. He pulled out a sidearm from his side holster.
"Thank god I didn't go with the standard issue nine millimeter semi. I'm going to be going against geared up soldiers in the worst case, it may have cost a lot but for the stopping power of this .45 ACP Usp, It was money well spent." Ethan turned the gun over in his hand. "What was the effective range again, one hundred fifty yards?" Ethan smiled as he remembered a scene from his past, his father teaching him how to shoot at a range. "Looks like I owe the old man a drink."

Ethan looked around through the rain. "If I stay here I most likely am going to be found by people really angry with what I did to their stuff. Let me see, with this rain SAR is out of the picture, visibility is probably shot to hell too." Ethan sighed and began jogging towards a nearby ruined building. "We came from the sea with strong tailwinds." Ethan held his hand above his hand and looked out into the distance. "From the way the rain is slanting and the bit of wind I can feel, if it hasn't changed direction, I should be heading this way."
Ethan gripped his sidearm with both hands and began to walk quickly along the wall of the building.

Lieutenant Aeryn “Blades” Sakic
Nova 2 – Ityrius Nova Squadron
Ityrius – Base Officer’s Lounge

Leaning slightly forward, Aeryn adjusted her position slightly so that her target was directly in position for an optimal shot. Tracking was complete and there were no obstacles between the pilot and her bogey. With a slow and even exhale, the young woman flex her arm and extended the pool cue until it struck the white ball, slowly forward and kissing off the edge of a striped ball which tumbled into a side pocket.

“Splash one,” she said with the hint of smirk on her face.

Aeryn Sakic would be hardly recognizable as the pilot Blades that had been in the ready room hours before. Having showered and cleaned herself up, the woman in the officer’s lounge carried a feminine sense that was often forgotten or at least completely disregarded whenever the young woman climbed into a flight suit. Now, instead of the flight suit and combat boots, the young woman wore a pair of denim jeans and a nondescript grey t-shirt covered by an orange vest. Dark hair was pulled back into a loose ponytail rather than the usual post flight helmet mess.

The officer’s lounge was an exception to most of the rules of protocol on base and within the Iytrian Air Force. The formality of command and the rank structure was largely left at the door to allow for the officers to unwind and be themselves, to speak off the record without fear of reprimand from their commanders nor setting a bad example for the enlisted personnel.

At the moment, Blades had been shooting pool by herself for the better part of half an hour. A television in the corner of the room rolled over to the top of the same military network news reports, but someone had long since muted the channel. After all, there was nothing that would escape the censors that would be worth a damn to anyone in the way of information. A stereo system against the wall played some slow rock song Aeryn had never heard before, but it fit the woman’s mood well enough.

Leaning up from her shot and pressing a beer bottle to her lips, the girl sighed slightly. She was doing her best to keep her mind of a member of her squadron still being somewhere out in the field. She’d only lost an active member of a team to which she’d belonged once before and the young woman didn’t feel herself quite ready to go through that again. So she steeled herself against the thoughts and readied herself for another shot.

The place was quiet and almost empty, so the sound of the door opening caught Aeryn’s attention as she turned from the table.

Re: [OOC] Ace Combat: Ityrius Conflict

I just don't want to double post, I check daily for someone to write but so far no dice

Jag

Re: [OOC] Ace Combat: Ityrius Conflict

Four days and no posting. I see a lot of you guys in the Chat all the time. Am I to assume that the interest in this game has died and we're going to let this one die?

Jag

Re: [OOC] Ace Combat: Ityrius Conflict

We've got a bit of open time right now in the game. I don't know what the plan is regarding the potential return of our GM and I just sort of assumed a position of "holding things at status quo" for the time being. If it turns out that he is completely unable to return to the game, we need to talk about how we want to handle things moving foward or if we want to call this one quits.

As of right now, all the pilots save for Sky Wolf are back at their respective bases. Things are free at the moment and both Hunter and Blades are available for anything any of you may have in mind.

Jag

Re: [OOC] Ace Combat: Ityrius Conflict

If that's what you want to do, go for it. As long as you aren't autoing another character or breaking the game in some fashion, feel free to post what you want. No need to run everything by for approval of the rest of the group ahead of time!

Re: [OOC] Ace Combat: Ityrius Conflict

i was thinking of throwing some dramatic irony in, running through the city and noticing a squad under fire, helping out with that and the squad turning out to be seperated from the unit under Ethan's father's command.

Jag

Re: [OOC] Ace Combat: Ityrius Conflict

Whatever you would like to do. There's no limit there and whatever happens the ground is entirely up to your disposal. If you need an NPC group of ground forces, feel free to play them yourself or let me know and I will scrounge something up for you in a post after yours. Have fun with it.

Re: [OOC] Ace Combat: Ityrius Conflict

Shoul I post what's going on inside the cockpit as I get shot down or just start out form the ground?

Jag

Re: [OOC] Ace Combat: Ityrius Conflict

Post to wrap everything up has been made leaving room for individual posts and actions. ALthought you're free to post your character's own action and dialogue inside of the action posted, please try to end up with putting your character into the present with both squadrons now out of the conflict and Sky Wolf having his own problems.

Re: [OOC] Ace Combat: Ityrius Conflict

I'm good with that, could provide some interesting interaction back at base with his first kill.

Re: [OOC] Ace Combat: Ityrius Conflict

I'll take care of my end of the meanuvers.....I dont think i spelled that right

Jag

Re: [OOC] Ace Combat: Ityrius Conflict

Sounds good to me. I don't think that Rabbit would have any problems with that since it really doesn't change his characters actions. We could do the whole thing without having to auto him at all.

Do you want to put your guy in position with a post or would you like for me to post everything up to the actual shot connecting?

Re: [OOC] Ace Combat: Ityrius Conflict

you know Im just not feeling in the mood for a dog fight scene with another character right now...I suppose the nugget, ottoman's character, rabbit i think it was, we could dance around in the air for a while and then you get my wing with your gun. I eject, parachute to the ground, get picked up by friendly forces and RTB. Any objections?

Jag

Re: [OOC] Ace Combat: Ityrius Conflict

With our GM unable to devote a lot of time to this at the moment, I was thinking of wrapping up the action fairly soon and getting the teams back to base for a little interaction there before things really get deep into a defined plot. If anyone has something they want to happen specifically before that time, let's get to posting now before the game stalls too early. This is one of the most promising games out there right now!

If there is anything that I can do to help, please let me know. OC is the GM of this game but I would like to assist the game in any way that I can.

I was thinking that the teams would be running short on fuel and ammunition and simply have to bug out and RTB rather than fighting each other to the death. If anyone has better ideas for a reason to get out of this fight, please let throw 'em out there!

Re: [OOC] Ace Combat: Ityrius Conflict

I am back from my hermitage! *stands up and waits for applause to die down*
Now that I am here, I have a really important announcement to make.

I would just like to apologize for my not being around very much. I haven't quite gotten the whole splitting time between RP's down yet, and since school has begun again, I'm having shorter and shorter amounts of time to be spent on the computer. For the time being, I give everyone permission to Power-Play Blackjack, for I don't know how often I will get to post myself. That's not to say that I won't try to get a few hundred words in when I get an opportunity. I'm just saying that I won't be religiously RP-ing until around Christmas time.

Thank you,

Organizedchaos

Jag

Re: [OOC] Ace Combat: Ityrius Conflict

I wouldn't think so. His reactions would be interesting, but I think it would be good writing.

Re: [OOC] Ace Combat: Ityrius Conflict

Well when we RTB I definitely want to have Rabbit do some interaction, considering as how he knows no one. Perhaps he'll latch onto Hunter, or would he be too annoyed by his party swill?

Jag

Re: [OOC] Ace Combat: Ityrius Conflict

Is there a set plot device that is due to occur in this battle? I'm getting the feeling that a number of the writers are stalling and not really sure how to approach things at the moment. Blades and Hunter are both available and if anyone wants to work something out for when they return to base, please let me know. Thanks.

Re: [OOC] Ace Combat: Ityrius Conflict

true.

I kinda wish I wasn't a stickler for numbers and could bump the load on the F-22... but I'ma stickler. lol

Re: [OOC] Ace Combat: Ityrius Conflict

Well, legit enough to know that once you've expended your payload, you're about done. I honestly can't say on whether an actual loadout is needed or not, just that you can't go wrong with one.

Re: [OOC] Ace Combat: Ityrius Conflict

Quick question... how legit are we on aircraft payloads? Just wondering since the game has a massive amount of AIM-9X per plane, clearly higher than what any fighter jet could actually carry, a few Profiles have complete load outs and some don't.
