Introduction

The year is 4038, and the worlds resources are getting rare, due to high tensions between nations over the waning resources, war breaks out. Nuclear weapons are launched at most major cities and the fallout effects the world for centuries, sending it into an ice age and erasing most of the written history. Man is pushed back into caverns and cave systems which seem to be the only places on Earth not ravaged. Millennia after the "Fall"; a war that ended with the destruction of civilization and nuclear fallout thought the world, fauna and vegetation begin to thrive once again.

Humans have emerged from their caves just a few hundred years ago and have established a civilization similar to that of the dark ages. Barter trade system, hand to hand weapons, lack of literature, corrupt officials, barbarians, walled towns, etc. had become common practice, however, the nobility scavenge and utilize the advanced technology of the past, even if only in a luxurious sense.

The Illuminati, the secret fraternity that has established itself in having an influence in most world issues throughout history, has set up an artificial intelligence system dedicated to establishing society and a new golden age for humanity on the planet Mars.

Our heroes awaken to a woman's voice,

Awaken Chosen, and find your way to the new world... Your past was erased... We've engineered your dna with our latest technological advances in physical, supernatural, and martial arts abilities... and were able to integrate the powers of what were once reserved for the Gods... You were named after those Gods...

The speaker fades out as you look down at what your name is. As they step out of a pod like vehicle, they find sand between their toes and more pods along the beach shore. Dazed, their journey begins...

Listening to Oya, I saw that she didn't favor my idea over hers. But her concerns were not unwarranted.

Was I really really asking us to harm those that didn't deserve it? Were we really picking on those weaker than us? This new world may not come down to this bandit quest we're on, but Oya's point stands. We can't lose our humanity trying to save it.

I watched as she walked away from the group to take some time to think about everything. As she did, I turn my eyes away, only to have them fall on a body we had moved to the side of a building post.

That's what I'm fighting for. To prevent this. Those who would perform such acts deserve to know why they have come to justice. Not to have their life taken without reason. The way these innocents were killed, without knowing the reason why. We are different.

I look back at Demeter and Tyr.
Tyr, I pray that we can have them surrender and face their consequences in peace. I thank you for volunteering. If there are any objections by you as far as the tower invasion goes, please, feel free to speak as candidly as Oya. Demeter, your support is appreciated as well.

I stand up to see the other guards taking care of the horses. I noticed them acting as if they were not listening. I walk over to one of them.
Please go and request Oya to return.

"Yes sir."

"Surrender may be ideal but ultimately unlikely. However, reveal a man to be a coward at heart and his legs will move faster than his sword." I stood up straight and lifted my sword, quickly remembering and reciting the word in my mind before speaking it out loud. "Vex." The marked symbol on my forearm shone dimly for a second before the light quickly spread down my arm and like an ethereal hand, reached out and took hold of my sword. Then it simply vanished, no light or puff or smoke, just a slight buzz in the air that lasted seconds. I smiled inwardly, pleased that it had worked as promised then looked back at Ra. "I'll leave the final perpetration down to you and wait thirty minutes before approaching. I trust that you will all have my back." With that I turned and moved towards the fort, waiting far enough away that I would not be spotted.

After the thirty minutes had passed and breathed deep and pushed doubt out of my mind, Pulling myself to my full height and striding confidently out onto the path and directly towards the fort. As I got close enough to see the archers perched atop the wall they already had bows drawn and aimed at me. I lifted my hands up, open palmed to show I was unarmed as I continued forward. After only a few more paces an arrow shot down a few feet from me followed by a distant shout they I could only guess was an order to stop, but I carried on regardless. Another twenty paces and another arrow, this time it was closer and intended to hit then they shouted again, hearing the voice clearly. "STOP OR THE NEXT ONE WILL BE IN YOUR EYE!" This time I did stop and shouted back. "I'VE COME TO TALK!" "THEN TALK!" "I'LL TALK TO YOUR LEADER NOT SOME GRUNT THAT COULDN'T HIT A BARN DOOR FROM TEN PACES!" I tensed to a second ready to act but I heard what I had hoped to hear, laughing from the wall. No loyalty among thieves. A few more tense moments and the gates creaked open just enough to walk through. A different voice this time. "Walk slow and keep em hands high."

I walked forward and did as they said, keeping my hands high as I passed through the gates that quickly closed behind me. Glancing around there were at least ten bows on me as well as twenty more holding a variety of weapons at the ready. The only one not holding a weapon stood several meters in front of me, their face hidden with a dark scarf. "You wanted to talk? So talk." I stayed quiet as I kept glancing around, getting the lay of the land before I finally looked at the figure, inspecting them closely and locking eyes with them. From the moment I had awoken I felt I could gauge a persons being in their eyes, see the real version they kept hidden under lies, and while this person was guilty a dark deeds and evil. They were not in charge, that person would not have darkness hidden, they would have a void that sucked out all light around them. "I said spea..." I turned my back on the person as I looked around at those standing on the walls above me, trying to see if I could spot Sala hiding in plain sight, but I only saw the touch of evil in these people. I turned full circle to look back at the long figure. "And I said I'd speak to your leader. You're not Sala." There was a stunned silence until the figure chuckled. "Observant but foolish, you are not worthy to speak that name. Let alon..." "Again I stopped the talking and dropped my arms, letting them cross over my chest. "And you are not worthy to live in this world." Another stunned silence as I began to pace around, not stepping directly towards anyone but circling the lone one at a distance. "You see, I came here hoping there might be something left resembling humanity in any of you, a hint of something beyond evil." As I walked and talked I kept looking up at the walls and towers, hoping to see sight of my allies in position while I continued to keep them distracted. "I am disappointed though not surprised that not a single one of you is worthy of the air you breath. Air like life is a gift, a gift bestowed by a higher power and it is that higher power that sent me."

I stared out in the direction of the village with a hint of sadness in my eyes while I tried to calm my emotions. The nervous feeling in my stomach had disappeared and was replaced with some small amount of peace and tranquility. I was now calm enough to think more clearly instead of allowing my emotions to govern my words. I exhaled deeply and when I did, a gentle breeze left my lips to brush against the trees that stood in front of me. I smiled lightly, hearing the soothing sounds of the leaves rustling in the wind but my smile soon faded when I heard footsteps behind me. "The others wish for your return." The guard said. I did not move right away, waiting for the breeze to come to a complete stop before I stood up and walked with the guard back to the others.

I stood a bit further away from the group but I listened to Tyr's words carefully. Thirty minutes. That should be more than enough time. I waited quietly when Tyr left and after about fifteen minutes, I looked at Ra and Demeter as I secure my bag on me. "I'm going to position myself at the back of the castle. If anything goes down, I'll have my station taken care of." I said before I made my way quietly towards the castle, giving a wide birth as I circled around and moved myself in position behind the castle. I glanced up at the sky then I looked back at the castle. Time's up. I stalked quickly towards the castle wall, seeing the guard's back turned towards me and their arrows knocked on their bows, taking aim. I lifted my arms up, palms facing towards them then with a quick movement, I pulled my arms back and my hands ended with a closed fist on each side of my head and as a result the guards were blown swiftly and silently off of the walls but before they could make a sound, I did yet another swift movement, swinging my arms to the ground, open palms and the wind blew directly down on them, smashing their bodies into the ground with soft thuds. I moved swiftly to the guards and I looked them over, quickly taking note that they were out cold and would be out cold for quite some time. I looked up at the wall and I was about to move to step closer but my eyes widen when I felt the ground start to crack beneath me. I stopped and I looked down at the ground. Hmm...didn't they said that there was a large basement underneath the castle? I looked up and I quickly pressed myself against the castle wall before I stealthily began making my way up towards the lookouts but once again the ground cracked beneath me but this time it was different. It didn't stop. The earth quickly split open and before I could react, I fell into the large crack and before I could use my power to fly me back out, the earth shut closed above me.

I gasped softly at what had happened before I floated down until I felt my feet touch the ground. I looked around, my eyes only seeing complete darkness. I narrowed my eyes and soon the torches on the walls lit up, illuminating the room with a reddish-yellow glow and a figure in a dark, hooded cloak stood several meters before me. My eyes narrowed on the figure and I moved my body into a slight crouch. "You..." The figured chuckled lightly before he spoke, his voice rough and laced with malice. "Yes...I am one of you. Heh. Let us hope you will provide me with a challenge unlike the humans." I balled my hands in a tight fist and frowned angrily. "Who are you? Are you the one called Sala?!" I demanded. The figure lifted his head slightly in his hood, just enough for me to see the smirk on his lips. You are not worthy of speaking his name or being in his presence. Hmph. You will be a fun one. I think I'll toy with you before I kill you.

I paced quietly outside with Ra looking up gently as Oya returned, I nodded slowly as she said she would take the back, "I suppose I will scout from the other side." I muttered towards Ra. I was worried, something felt wrong to me. This whole experience made me nervous how the others remained so calm was beyond me. Then again I was merely showing calmness but I certainly was not calm on the inside. Certainly I was tense to say the least. Perhaps they were also hiding their emotions. I could sense the deep anger in a few of them. It radiated like the sun's heat off of them, making me even feel a little overwhelmed, why was I not angered like they were? My eyes widened hearing a noise from the backside, I rushed over but when I got there, nothing was there, not even Oya, confused I looked around, her foot prints were there but disappeared, I looked up, perhaps she went inside already but then what was that noise? Almost instantly something felt horribly wrong, I paced silently before rushing away from this side, it was dangerous. I paused, what about Oya? Oya was strong she could handle herself. My body moved on it's own before I noticed the arrow embedded in the ground, I looked up a grunt was on the roof trying to shoot at me, clearly things had not gone as expected. I scowled and moved grabbing my bow I aimed up to the grunt and dodged another one of his arrows before firing my own.

I heard a yelp and a thump on the roof but I was very wary about it and I moved into the surrounding trees to hide just in case he got back. I let out a breath and made my way around, I wanted to tell Ra about what I heard but I figured he already started making his way in. Perhaps I should as well, with everyone inside I was not needed outside. I looked for a window and made my way up a tree and looked inside. Slowly I made my way inside hesitantly and very alert, it seemed the grunts were busy. Sliding against the wall I moved tenderly down the hall and paused hearing someone talking. "It appears we have some intruders." the grunt spoke to a strapping man who held a dark smirked, he was pretty confident it seemed not to hide himself like the grunts. "Sala doesn't need to concern himself with this pathetic attempt of a takeover. We can handle it." He mused. I froze holding my breath in as he started to turn I moved back into the shadows. He smiled lightly and turned back to the grunt, "Go patrol the roof top." he ordered letting the grunt go as he headed down the hall. Curiously I followed after him, something was dangerous about this man, the way he walked and even that malice surrounding his voice as he talked. He turned into a room leaving the door open, I blinked, and waited silently, when he didn't come back out I moved closer carefully, I peered inside and blinked in shock to find him gone? I looked from the left of the room to the right it was basically empty. I realized he could be hiding behind the door but the door was flat against the wall? Where did he go? I didn't have time to react as my head slammed into the wall with a sharp hiss I lashed out at my attacker but nothing was there? I winced in pain moving back, blood clouded the vision in my right eye throwing off my aim as I kept my back to the wall. "You are pretty cute girl, what are you doing all the way out here? Looking for a good time." he taunted, "Not with you..." I mumbled quietly at him. "Well that is to bad, I'm looking for a good time and I just found the perfect prey." he licked his lips. I shivered tensing my muscles, this was not good.

As Tyr walked out towards the castle, I stood watch, hoping this plan would come together. Thirty minutes is what I need to prepare. I was hoping that Demeter could help me with a rain of arrows before this battle but upon second thought, I decided that to Oya's point, we might need to take an approach different from an army, but as the mercenaries we were. Our individual strengths could be the better strategy for this mission. A few minutes passed and I noticed how antsy Oya was getting. She finally snuck off and I watched as she rounded the castle. Standing, overlooking from the top of the hill, I could see how Tyr's "negotiations" we're going. It seemed that inside, the talk was getting interesting. Demeter mumbled something to me that I didn't understand and when I turned to her she was already making her way around the castle opposite Oya. I'm sure they'll be fine. I convinced myself.

I tried to prepare myself for what was obviously ahead. I held my right arm down and opened my hand. The sickle sword began to materialize in my hand. I closed my fist and gripped it as it became whole. My right eye became red along with my vision in it. The first thing I noticed about it this time was the glow of everyone from my vision. I thought it meant a heat signature, but as I looked into the castle's courtyard Tyr was a different color. I wasn't sure exactly what it was but I'll learn it later. Tyr's time is up.

I charged the castle, a lone soldier, sword at my side and at full speed. As I approached the gate, I yelled,
Ahh...
...BOOM!!! The castle and what seemed to be its very foundation gave an earth rattling crash. And I kept running. Blasting through the gate and watching as everyone was confused I could see that the dungeon entrance was unattended. As I past Tyr in the confusion, I yelled,
Time is up.
Then struck down the few between me and the door. Opening it, through the door and into a stairwell dimly lit by a single torch at the end of a it. A fork in the road. Okay, two choices. Left or right? I turned to my right.

When I finished my circle of the figure I grew slightly concerned I had not spotted my allies, but I did not have time to become too worried as the ground shook a figures shouted at the back of the walls. Something had gone wrong and as if to prove it Ra came bursting through the doors, cutting down people as he sped directly into the lower levels. "Shit..." I quickly activated the rune on my arm, materializing my sword in my hand and swinging it round in a large arc, leaving the two bandits who attempted to sneak up behind me sliced in half. I took several long strides towards the door Ra had entered, slamming the door closed behind him and turning back around to face the crowd of bandits that were now advancing towards me.

My sword was wide enough to deflect arrows easily enough but I would be in trouble if they were not taken care of soon. Every time I swung my sword to deflect or strike a melee attacker I had to bring it back to defend against another arrow. I was quickly becoming overwhelmed. Then thankfully the arrows came to a slow stop, sparing a glance to the walls I saw the guards that remained with us taking down the archers. With the archers no longer an issue I launched myself forward, swinging my sword with one hand and letting my wolfs head snap and bite at any in range, I carved a bloody path through their ranks until I passed them all, only to turn around attack again. Entering a small frenzy of swing, bite, block, stab. Feeling blood spray against me in a constant shower, turning my skin crimson as I passed deathly judgement on these bandits and sent each one to the underworld.

I lost all track of time and when my mind fully returned to me I stood among a swath of bodies, blood covering me nearly completely. I breathed deep several times, trying to catch my breath, the fire building in my muscles burned deep and promised to only get worse in the coming hours. I stood up straight and wiped some of the blood from my face, feeling gore come off as well. Small pieces of skin, bone and guts that were plastered to my skin and armor. I heard footsteps behind me and swung my sword towards the sound, stopping just in time to avoid killing one of our guards. He held his arms up in fear until I lowered my sword and spoke in a weary tone. "Guard the door, do not let anyone in and if anyone besides one of our own comes out, cut them down." I did not wait for a response as I lumbered through the doorway and closed it behind me, scanning the corridors and listening to try and give any indication to which way the others were.

The figure and I stood silently, studying each other before the figure finally moved, crouching low to the ground and place his palms flat against the floor. I quickly noticed that his hands were dirty and rough with callus and I wondered for a brief second why but my wondering would have to wait later for the figure spoke again. "Alright then. Entertain me and I will allow you to live a little longer but if you do not provide me with entertainment then I will end your life with glee. Now, let us begin." With that, his hands became rigid and he let out a sharp grunt as he forced his hands into the ground, submerging it completely along with his wrist and half of his forearm. The figure chuckled darkly and before I could react, a large piece of the earth propelled out from the ground a few feet in front of me and the hard, blunt end of the earth collide with my chest causing my feet to lift off of the ground and my body shooting back until I hit the ground. I sat up, my right hand clutching my chest as I winced in pain. The figured chuckled darkly at me. "Is that all? Such a shame. It seems that I will have to kill you much sooner than I expected." I scowled angrily at the figure before I pulled myself up to my feet. The figure seemed to be pleased for I could see the smirk from under his hood. "Oh good. You had me worry there for a second. Hehe. I am glad to see that you can take more than a single blow from me. Hehe. Looks like its your turn now."

I moved my hand from my chest and I watched the figure. How did he do that? He did not even move and yet, he attacked me using the earth. I will have to act with cautious and watch the ground for only he will know where he wishes to strike and I can only prepare to defend myself from his attacks...for now.. I looked at the figure and I narrowed my eyes lightly at him before I ran at him, my speed increased as a breeze blew against my back and when I was but several yards from him, I saw at the corner of my eyes a large piece of earth launching at me from the side at an impressive speed. Knowing that I would not be able to outrun or dodge it, I turned my body swiftly and pulled my arms up to block it but upon impact, it did not stop, instead it slammed me into the wall. I winced in pain and I grunted lightly as I looked at the long piece of earth. It came from the ground from the other side of the room and traveled across the room to connect with the wall and trapping me between itself and the wall. I looked over at the figure who was chuckling darkly. "It looks like the little fly has been caught. How boring." I tried to move my arm but they were stuck between myself and the piece of earth. I frowned lightly before an idea came into my head and I figured that it would be best to give it a try. I inhaled as deeply as I could then I blew sharply at the earth, causing a sharp, powerful force of wind to come out of my mouth and crack the earth until it shattered, allowing me to drop to the floor, landing a bit roughly as I did. I quickly jumped up and glided myself back and away from the figure. My eyes studying him and my surroundings. I looked at the pieces of earth, one sticking out from the ground in the center of the room and the other, shooting across from one side of the room and ending at the other. This is proving to be more difficult than I thought.

The figure looked over at me and he chuckled darkly at me before he frowned. "I think I am growing bored with you. I think I'll kill you now." My eyes landed back on the figure. "Who are you called?" I asked. The figure smirked darkly. "Well since you were strong enough to withstand my attacks, I suppose I'll let you have the honor of knowing my name before I kill you. I am called Brian of the Earth. I do not care for your name however. You failed to entertain me therefore, your life ends here." I glanced at the ground and I quickly noticed the crack in the ground which was soon followed by a large piece of earth but this time instead of a flat, blunt end, it was sharp. I swiftly jumped to the side, avoiding the sharp earth. My eyes widen in surprise. So he can manipulate the earth not only on the amount that he can project and extend but he can shape them as well. Brian's head lifted up for the first time and although I could not see pass his nose, I could clearly see the frown on his lips. "Hmm...perhaps luck has favored you but regardless you are the second person that has been able to dodge my attacks. The first is Sala. Hehe. Now I'm getting excited. Perhaps there is more to you than I thought." I looked at Brian then I slowly took a knee and placed my hand on the ground. Great. It seems like I appeal to his interest. Hopefully this game of his will give me enough time to figure everything out. I looked at the sharp, pointed earth that stuck out beside me. So a crack appeared before he made his attack. Just like it did when he opened up the ground to drop me in this room. I wonder if this occurs with all of his attacks. I looked back at Brian then I quickly scanned the floor in my vision. Only one way to find out.

I watched warily, my vision was half blurred from the blood seeping into my other eye, I was breathing scarcely as I was pretty rigid with my weapon loaded. I felt like a cornered rat I wasn't built for hand to hand combat I was more long ranged, I cursed myself for bothering to investigate, I should have stayed outside to provide backup. "It's kinda cute watching your mind panic, you look pretty frightened, like a scared little kitten trapped by a majestic doberman. Mhmm it's to bad your so gosh darn pretty I'd really have a hard time putting you down." He mused, I glared at him with deep intent, I wouldn't let him out of my sight, his words meant nothing to me, he was just trying to egg me on. I refused to fall for such an obvious trick; I let out a deep breath to calm myself down to avoid looking like a panicked child and focused instead on trying to think of a way to either defeat him or escape. I highly doubt I would win in such an enclosed area but perhaps I could think of one if I didn't let him get to me. "I don't know how long exactly you were watching me, but in case you didn't hear my name is Balthazar, such a regal and noble name no?" He asked seemingly pulling a rose out of no where and sniffing it gently before offering it towards me with a poisonous look glinting in his eyes.

I bristled slightly at the feeling of his gaze, "Not really." I managed to utter at long last finally speaking to him. "A the delicate princess can say more." Balthazar mused at me, he ran his fingers though his hair, "So I've told you more about me, why not at least share with me your name?" He asked. I honestly want to refuse, with all my heart I wanted to refuse but for some reason I couldn't, "My name is Demeter..." I said before I even realized what I said I bit my lip and glared at him again, "Demeter; a goddess name for an angel." He hummed and stroked his chin gently, "I wonder if Sala would let me keep you as a pet, I would treat you right I promise, 3 square meals a day, fresh air on walks, some time to play with me, why dare I say I'd even give all the dresses you could wear." He teased. My eye twitched, he was insulting me! Treating me like some kind of beast, did I look like an animal to him? I realized he was trying to get under my skin but goodness I was outraged he would even think to treat any person like that. I was having a hard time keeping calm to be honest, I let out a small growl, "How dare you think you can just do that..." I hissed between my teeth, "How dare I? That's a good question, I guess the best answer..." He started before my eyes he was suddenly in front of my pinning me back against the wall I yelped in utter shock as he was suddenly face to face with me. "Is that I really don't care what other think about it. People who don't follow Sala's law are basically lower then dirt so they deserve to be treated as such no? The same applies to those who follow a king if they are under him then they really don't matter much do they?" He asked. I couldn't function right away I squeezed my hand shut realizing he knocked my bow away I tsked under my breath. "No one deserves to be treated like dirt!" I said spitting in his face. He growled and slapped my face roughly with the back of his hand his knuckles collided with my cheek as I fell to the side holding my cheek that was stinging with pain.

I hissed for a moment before rolling over I jumped up rushing for the door, however with my depth perception off I gasped in shock as I hit the door frame and fell back groaning in pain. "Ohhh so close! You just missed it Starshine." Balthazar said walking over to me, he leaned down and smirked, "I don't even have to do anything to you! You can beat yourself up for me." he mused, I winced, damn him and his stupid smug smile. I wanted to wipe it off his face but I knew I had no chance. As he mocked me laughing I looked around for my bow finding it tucked away in a corner. I calmed my breathing, I had to try again, and slowly formed an idea in my head. I whimpered softly at him, he looked down and smirked widely, "That's right, that's the noise I love to hear, the pathetic whimpers of a woman." he sneered leaning closer, I let him and when his head was just in the right place I punched him square in the nose before slamming onto my back and using my legs to propel myself forwards I landed on my feet and spun around whilst he was stunned and kicked him in the head making him fall back I race for my bow. "You little b*tch!" he hissed and lunged at me he grabbed my ankle and pulled me down. I let out a quick scream when I fell and he pulled me closer. "You really though you could pull a fast one on me and get away with it? I hope you enjoy pain because that's all your going to feel for a long time." He growled. I tried to kick him again to get away terrified but he was to quick for some reason he moved far faster then I could. It wasn't like Oya, it wasn't like the wind it was something different but I couldn't quite place it.

He got up and brushed off his coat before looking down at me, I tried to scramble away but I was stuck my eyes widened as I looked back at my feet, they were trapped in some form of black substance. "W-What?" I stammered, "Confused? I suppose I should explain, I'm in a way very similar to your kind, in fact I am one of your. My name is Balthazar of the Shadows that would be my full title. In this darkness my power is absolute, you cannot beat me so I will happily take my time punishing you and by the end of it... I'll either keep you or kill you. I suppose it depends on how you behave." He muttered with a dark twisted pleasure seeping into his voice as he walked closer to me, I stared up at him with fear in my eyes. With a quick kick to my head I barely remember what happened outside of pain I could feel his powerful kicks crushing my chest as he flung me around the room effortlessly, I coughed up blood so much pain I could hardly fight back or even tell what was happening everything had gone dark. "So you can't get away." He spoke furiously it almost echoed in his endless void, what happened to the lights? Before I could come up with the answer he broke my leg I screamed in pain, how did he do it? I can't even tell where he is, but surely my leg was broken I could feel it. I breathed sparsely the ragged gasps were keeping me from crying, my whole body had started to ache, I was going to die. There was no question in the matter I was going to die by the hands of his monster who only worked for Sala. Wait, when did the lights go out? After he kicked me the first time, I could have hit myself with the realization he had covered my eyes in shadows to disorient me. Furious I didn't want to die this way I refused to! I reached behind my back and grabbed one of the few arrows that had remained in my quiver and waited when I felt him kick my stomach I lunged forwards despite the pain and the fact I coughed up more blood I stabbed out and peg him right in the leg. He howled in pain and I heard him roll back, with the little time I had to spare I ripped off the shadows from my face and threw them aside the light blinded me for only a second before I regained the advantage and grabbed another arrow inching away from him, I hissed in pain with every motion I made. Leaning against the wall I slowly got myself up my leg was pretty much useless right now but I had also incapacitated his as I noticed my arrow pierced his kneecap. "What's the matter tough guy?... you were doing so good... till you got an arrow to the knee." I smirked a bit, I had to turn this around somehow and I had the perfect idea to do so.

I turned right in the dimly lit hallway and continued forward. The quiet was beginning to scare me some, but I was on a mission. No time for doubts. The hallway ended with a door to the left of me. Big and wooden, I turn the handle and walked in.

The room was full of shadows, until I walked into the center. Some sort of magical sigil began to light up the room in the center. It radiated with, a heat and dim glow of orange. I looked around as all of the candles flared up in unison. I could see that they were each on stands but the room was... empty. Looking around again, this time in bewilderment. Where is everybody? For a fortress it's kind of empty. I turn to the left and there was another door.

Walking through there was another u-shaped hallway with a locked door at the end. I contemplated turning around but the door was wooden. Could I possibly? I take a few steps back and charged the door... "Oomph! Nope, that didn't work. Let's think this through. Maybe let's back track." I walk Harvin through the hall and into the room. Checking the first door I came through, it was locked. When did this happen? OK the room was still lot up with candles and the magical sigil. Perhaps this was some sort of magical trap. Looking around I still saw nothing, but maybe more light would help. I strike up a flame just above my hand. I squint, but it didn't help much. I concentrate and give the flame more body. As I do, the sigil expanded, giving me an idea.

The larger the flame the more the magic room responds. Maybe it'll unlock the door at the end of the hallway. After hearing a click, I rush to the door. It unlocked, and I walk through. Finding a foyer and connected to a few more rooms. I could hear sounds coming from them. But on a table there was a note. It read,

Dear friends,

I'm terribly sorry to disappoint you, but I'm currently unavailable to kill you at the moment. I will, however, give you the chance to find me before I find you. Give yourself up and become my underlings, and I will let you live. Do not, and I will kill you when we meet.

Sincerely,
Sala

Another crack appeared under my hand and I quickly glided back, avoiding yet another chuck of sharp earth that stopped level with my face. I glared lightly at Brian before I ran towards him, gliding swiftly, my eyes watching the ground as I did and sure enough, every crack that appeared on the ground was quickly followed by large pieces of earth that protruded from the ground, some had blunt ends, some sharp and they varied in shape and sizes but regardless I was able to dodge them all but my plan wasn't on attacking Brian, no. I quickly started gliding back, avoiding more of the earth as the began to protrude even higher until I reached a certain distance and Brian's attacks stopped. "Hehe. You can't attack me by flying around. Try again, my annoying little fly." I studied the room, Brian's attacks seemed to be stronger and the size of the projected earth bigger the closer they were to him but every time that I am about 15 yards from him, he does not attack. Does this mean that he is limited in the range of his attacks? I wanted to test it to be sure but I knew that I would constantly be at risk if I continued to test him but I suppose some risks must be taken if I want to find all the answers.

I got in a slight crouch and I grabbed my fly whisk then I ran towards Brian. Brain smirked darkly. "Did you run out of ideas? You bore me. Die." As soon as I was 10 yards from him, I saw the crack in the ground and my eyes widen in slight excitement. There! That is his range! But before I could react, the earth propelled up at my chest and I was met with yet another hard, blunt end of the earth which caused my body to fly back a few feet before I landed on my back. I let out a whimper of pain as I turned my body over on my side and clutch my chest. I could hear Brian's evil laughter and his taunts. "Ha! Is that all?! And I had such high hopes for you! HAHAHA!!!" I rolled over onto my hands and knees, my right hand still clutching onto my chest that was already bruising from the first impact that I had already received earlier in the fight. I could feel tears dotting the corner of my eyes but I shut my eyes tight and force myself to focus on breathing. It hurt my chest to breath but I needed to focus on something other than pain. Okay.Okay. Think Oya. Think. He is strong but he has a limited range of 10 yards and you can predict his attacks from the cracks in the ground. Now, from his position, it seems that he cannot move while he attacks thus it leaves him venerable. I can't get too close to him because his attacks are stronger the closer I get to him so I would have to attack him from a distance and maybe, just maybe, I can use his element as an advantage.

I stood up slowly on shaky legs and turned to face Brian with rasped breathing. Damn it, I think he might have broke something. I forced myself to stand taller and I pulled my machete from my waist with my right hand.. Brian looked at me with a small smirk. "What's this? You still have the strength to fight? Hehe. Well, if it's death you want, I'll be sure to make you a nice little grave, one specially suited for an annoying fly like yourself. Haha!" I looked at Brian and I smirked lightly as I felt blood start to trickle down the corner of my mouth but I licked it up slowly. "Ashes fly back into the face of him who throws them." Brain tilted his head slightly. "What?" I crouched slightly then I charged quickly at Brian, jumping onto the projected earths and running along it to bring me up higher as I approached Brian. I could hear Brian's chuckle darkly. "What's this? Did the fly suddenly turn into a monkey? Hehe. Regardless, I'll still kill you!" I was getting closer and I could see Brian was forcing more earth to project up from the ground to prevent me from getting closer but being that I was higher up, I did not need to depend on looking at the cracks, I could see the earth coming after me and I dodge it easily. Once I was about 4 yards from him, I jump down and towards Brian. Brain let out a loud grunt as a large piece of earth with a sharp end aim for me but I was ready. I swung my fly whisk in front of me causing a strong gust of wind to crack and shatter the earth and with a swift swing, I swung my machete, causing a very quick and powerful cut of wing towards Brian. Brian looked up and for the first time I could see his face and his smirk quickly turned into a frown but he was not fast enough. He pulled one hand from the earth but the other was cut off above the elbow and Brian fell back with a loud, scream of pain as he grabbed onto what was left of his left arm.

I landed roughly on the ground, dropping my machete and clutching my chest in pain as my rasped breathing only continued to get worst. I turned my head to look at Brian when I heard his scream of pain turn into laughter as he scooted his body back until his back was leaning against the wall. "Haha! Brilliant! Fucking brilliant! You have definitely turned the table on my little game but... He looked down, his shaggy hair falling in front of his face before he looked back up at me his brown eyes showing pure malice. ..did you really have to take my fucking arm? I winced as the pain in my chest radiated and continued to grow before I forced myself to stand up straight only to have my body cave forward in pain. I winced again before I spoke. "Those who follow Sala must be prepared to face the punishment for their evils." I gasped in pain. It hurt even more to talk than it did breath. I looked away from Brian and towards the opening with an arch then at the door. Not wanted to push my body any further, I heading for the opening but my eyes widen as I saw a few cracks on the ground before the opening and I ran towards the it but it was too late, twp large slabs of earth projected out of the ground, blocking my path and the same thing happened in front of the door. I clutched my chest in pain and I turned to Brian, anger in my eyes but stopped when I saw his smirk as he removed his left hand from the ground. "You think I am just going to let you go? Hehe. No, my dear. No. Since you have entertained me well, you get the honor of dying with me." He swung his left hand hard unto the wall, slamming his fingers into the wall and soon large cracks spread up the wall then up onto the ceiling. Brian chuckled darkly. "Let's hope your friends will fare better than you." He laughed a dark, crazed laugh as large pieces of the ceiling started to collapse, crashing down on the projected earth and ground.

My eyes widen and I picked up my machete and started swinging at the slab of the earth but this earth was stronger, more solid and my machete was only cutting an inch into the slab. I couldn't waste my time hacking at this slab of earth. I raised my fly whisk and swung hard but the wind only reflected back at me. I looked behind me and up and the ceiling continued crashing down, causing the ground to shake and it was getting closer. I put my fly whisk to my waist and I grabbed the machete with both hands. My chest was throbbing in pain and I felt blood continue to trickle out of the corner of my mouth. "No! This is not how I am going to die! I must fight to survive! I must fight!" I swung and swung even more but to no avail and my chest felt like it was going to explode any minute. I dropped to my knees and I clutched my chest, gasping for air and gasping in pain. I looked down and I saw my bag, laying down beside me. The gems! I reached inside and I grab a single gem and I pulled my hand out of the bag and I opened my hand to look down at a shard of amethyst. I closed my eyes trying to recall what Venus had said. The gems you carry with you will help you unlock the abilities that you carry with you. They must be a part of you for them to be activated. Use them in your time of need. You will know when the time is right. I opened my eyes. "A part of me?!" The ground shook and vibrated when even more and I heard Brian's crazed laughter grow louder before I frowned lightly. "No time to think." I put the shard down and I slammed my left hand down on the shard. I cried out in pain as I felt the shard become embedded into the center of my palm. I stood up and I looked down at my palm but when I did, the amethyst started to glow a bright purple and white tribal markings appeared on my hands and up to my elbows as purple steam emitted from it. I could feel a surge of power radiating in my arm now. I grabbed my machete tightly with both hands and I gave a mighty slash. A sharp cut of wind burst forth with a slight distinct purple color accompanying it, cutting a diagonal slight clean through the top corner slabs of earth. My eyes widen in joy and surprise before my chest started to spasm with pain. Apparently this newfound power did not protect me from pain. I fell to my hands and knees and I looked over at Brian and noticed that the ceiling had already collapse on him. I looked up and my eyes widen as I saw a large piece of the ceiling falling directly over me. I scramble to my feet as fast as I could. Knowing I would not have time to make the cut in the slab bigger, I jumped forward, my hands outstretched before me and I could only hope and pray that I would be able to make it through the arch and survive.

I stood in the entrance way, leaning against the wall still dripping with blood and trying to catch my breath. I listened carefully trying to find a hint to which direction I should go, calling back the image of the map we had been shown, it took a minute but I felt strong vibrations and earth shattering sounds directly forward. Again thinking about the places layout I turn and ran as fast as I could down the left corridor, coming to a half open door. Without any caution I threw the door open and was grateful to find it empty, recently emptied anyway. Some of the bandits must have been in here when we first arrived. I moved to the on the other side of the room when to push it open finding it locked. I growled lowly in annoyance, looking around quickly and seeing no keys then deciding I had no time to waste. Taking a step back and slamming my entire weight into the door and shoulder barging it through.

The door gave little resistance and collapsed inwards making me stumble as I passed through it. Again I knew there was no time to waste I forced myself onward, stumbling a couple more times on debris and out of exhaustion. The next room was a lengthy and full with furniture but I had no mind to look at any of it as the room at the far end seemed to be collapsing in on itself and through the dust and falling rubble I saw a familiar figure struggle to escape. "OYA!" Despite still finding it hard to catch my breath I broke into a full sprint, dropping my sword and rushing to her. I reached her in the nick of time, using my gauntlet to shatter a piece of rock in the air and moving shielding her with my own body. Crouching over her as I wrapped an arm round her and made to pull us both out of the way. But as I went to rise I dropped to a knee as another large piece of the ceiling came down and slammed into my back. I coughed up all the air in my lungs as well as several large spatters of blood. I had just enough presence of mind to know it would only be worse if I did not move us. So with no small amount of effort I snapped my leg straight and threw myself back out of the way, still clutching Oya tightly against me as we flew a few meters into the long room.

I huge thick ploom of dust blew outwards as the other room finished its own destruction. I coughed violently a few more times, the blood on my skin doing a fine job of making all the dust and rubble stick to my skin and hair. My breathing was ragged on the intake and more rough coughing as I exhaled, I rolled Oya off me after a moment and felt a small out of ease return to my breathing but I was well and truly exhausted and just wanted to rest...

Balthazar drew a deep breath, calming himself down wasn't something I honestly expected, "You know I pride myself on my looks and charming personality, the ladies have always flocked to me. Yet you defy that, you defiled my handsome looks with your arrow and fist... heh. Your the first woman to ever actually hurt me so I'll allow you to be proud of that before I kill you." he said venomously as he pulled out the arrow groaning in pain before he threw it to the ground and stomped on it. I flinched and moved back as fast as I could, I took a wrong step and yelled in pain as I collapsed down on my knee, I hissed at myself, my leg was still broken which meant running was out of the question. He snorted and walked towards me taking his time, "I'll make sure it's a very slow and highly painful death, you deserve it after all." He muttered vicious with his tone. I scrambled to get away I wasn't going to live this. I felt an utter chill go down my spine and froze my entire body as he drew closer, 'move' I hissed at myself, step after never ending step I could feel him baring down at me. "move!" I managed to yell to myself and turned as he was almost on top of me I kicked him back with my good leg and winced, scorning myself over this matter I managed to jump and grab my bow.

I pulled out an arrow and shot it swiftly piercing his shoulder he snorted and grabbed it again snapping it in half he threw the spear tip at my head, I focused carefully before it hit it transformed into a flower and though it still hit me it didn't hurt. I blinked... that was it! This was how I could beat him. I got up slowly and aimed another one, but he moved faster again and grabbed onto my throat pinning me to the wall, "Now... let's try this again any last words?" he asked squeezing my throat I could barely breath never mind talk. I looked into his eyes, nothing but malice and pleasure watching me slowly choke for air. I had to get him mad again, my eyes rolled back but I closed them to try and focus, "T-That.... a-alll... you got?" I managed to spit out into his face. He snarled at me and threw me across the room again I screamed as my body bashed against the wall, I gasped and slide down the wall. I hurt pretty bad, but at least I was free and that was a start as I breathed sparsely, I had to get ready in almost an instant because I knew he would rebound fast. A fake out probably wouldn't work again but I was in just the right spot, I reached for an arrow but to my shock I had none left. Most of them had scattered when i had been battered about. I groaned and then I remembered... I reached into my pouch swiftly and pulled out a seed, "Please work..." I uttered softly and held onto it pulling back my bow and aimed it. "What you going to throw air at me? Did you hit your head a little to hard?" he stared laughing at how pathetic I must have looked.

"Something like that..." I retorted and then closed my eyes pouring my focus into the seed it split open and grew into a plant before morphing into a solid arrow, I beamed for a second feeling confident I shot the arrow across the room skidding across his cheek leaving a cut. I let go of my breath and faltered, I missed him. He reached up and touched his cheek and pulled back his hand staring at the blood, his eyes turned black with the dark anger that seemed to radiate off him, "I'll kill you!!" he roared leaping towards me, that was the rise I was waiting for. I focused and lifted my hand as though to stop him instead I focused on the arrow i just shot, it had bolted into the boarded window, transforming back into a vine like plant it started to break through the boards the sun shone into the room causing Balthazar to hiss with pain. He recoiled back to the dark corners and glared at me from there. I knew I was safe even if just briefly. So long as the sun separated us at least. I gasped and clung onto the wall as the building started to quake a little something was very wrong I got up slowly after it settled and practically dragged myself along the wall, I would fight him again one day... but first I would need to train more with my physical fighting, however I didn't leave without giving a warning. I shot an arrow into the darkness, "We will fight again Balthazar... and next time I won't let you win." I said slightly determined now I would beat him one day and return the favor. "F*** You B*tch!!" He swore loudly, "When I find you again I will kill you! I will ruin you Demeter! I will END YOU!" he swore before sinking away into the darkness. I didn't doubt his word, certainly it frightened me to think about, but I had to find the others, I would never forgive myself if they died here. I limped along the wall and went to look for the others.

I remembered jumping forward, my machete flying out of my hand and sliding across the floor and a figure rushing toward me and yelled my name. Tyr? He grabbed my wrist and pulled me powerfully. I think I blackout for a moment but when I came to, I was panting hard, my breathing rasped as I laid down on the ground next to Tyr. I turned my head and looked over at Tyr before I looked up at the ceiling, closing my eyes tightly. "T-Thank you." I gasped before I placed a hand on my chest, wincing at the throbbing and radiating pain that I prayed would go away. I opened my eyes and I looked at my hand and I blinked at the white tattoo that swirled up around my fingers, hand and forearm and fading at my elbow. I turned my hand so that my palm was facing me and noticed the amethyst buried in the center of my palm, horizontally. I did not know the full extent of what I was capable of with this gem in my hand and I was quite curious to find out.

I placed my hand back onto my chest and with my other hand, I struggle to sit myself up, wincing and whimpering softly in pain as I did before I finally sat up. My hand clutched at my chest and I looked down at my chest to see the bruising had gotten worst, turning my whole chest black and purple. I looked away from my chest and ahead towards the room that I possibly could not have escaped from if it wasn't for Tyr's help. I glanced at my machete that was lying on the ground not too far from me and I exhaled deeply which caused me to wince in pain once again. I looked over at Tyr and I gave him a slight nod. "Let us go. There is nothing left for us here." I struggle to stand but my chest spasm on me and I fell to my knees, clutching my chest. Damn it...

When I finished reading the note, I turned and saw Demeter limping out of the room a little way down the hall. "Demeter! Are you alright?" I asked. I walked over to her and I grabbed her arm and put it over my shoulders to help her. "Lets get out of here." Together, we made out way out of the room but I paused as I glanced at an opened door on my right and I saw a lightly decorated pedestal that had a silk pillow sitting on top with four dents in it as if something was sitting on it has been removed rather recently. What could have been there? I continued walking at a steady pace until I reached the entrance of the castle. The doors were closed. I walked over to the door and I opened it.

I was relieved to see the light from the sun. The fresh air and when I looked down, my eyes opened wide. The two guards were dead. I looked around to find the third but he was gone. No sign of him. I looked at Demeter then behind me at the hall. I hoped the others would show up soon. Our guards were dead, one is missing and Sala was not here.

I lay breathing in ragged breaths still. Blood, dust and rubble caught in equal measure in my throat and covering every inch of my body. I barely heard Oya over my labored breathing but I saw her struggle to stand only to fail and drop to her knees, no doubt my attempt would be worse but she was right, it was best to leave now before we give something else the chance to happen. With a great deal of effort I rolled onto my side and after a couple of attempts made it to my hands and knees. Stone and blood clumped with dust fell from me as I moved, making small clouds that merged to become bigger as I continued to move around. It took a shamefully long time to reach my feet and stand steady. I reached down and helped Oya to her feet, putting her arm over my shoulder and putting mine over hers. I was not sure who was helping who more as we walked but together we managed to make progress.

Luckily the reach of the wolfs head extended far enough that I did not need to lower myself too much to retrieve my sword, though its weight was suddenly a new burden I was not sure I could carry. Though there was no way I would be leaving it behind, so I grit my teeth and smothered my pain as we marched onward.

I noted the door outside was open as we reached it and slowed our pace, worried more bandits might have arrived but peering round the door and seeing Ra with Demeter made me breath out the tension. We rounded the corner into the day light and almost instantly lowered my arm from Oyas shoulder and dropped to the floor. Leaning back up against the wall and letting my sword fall from my grasp as I continued to breath deeply. A small smile crept onto my face thought my exhaustion, my voice coming out in a weak whisper. "Heh, We're done right?"

While Tyr was struggling to his feet, I had managed to crawl to my machete. I retrieved my machete and place at my waist before I let Tyr help me to my feet. I could feel him putting some of his weight on me and I on him. It seems that we both depended on each other for support and neither one of us were complaining about. I glanced back towards the room where I had nearly escaped the clutches of death and I saw an opening that let me look into the spot where Brian had been crushed but when the pieces of the ceiling crumbled, it revealed a tunnel in the wall where I last saw Brian pressed up against. I gritted my teeth and my nose wrinkled in annoyance. He got away...SHIT!

Once Tyr and I had finally met up with everyone, a slight annoyed look can be seen on my face and I exhaled lightly once Tyr's weight no longer burdened my body and I clutched my chest in pain with my right hand. I looked at Ra then at Demeter and seeing the blood on her face, a worried look came across my face before I looked down but when I did, my eyes widen in shock then anger. "I think we were tricked." I said, my tone stern as I looked down at the guards then at everyone else. "I do not think that we were brought here to eliminate anyone but to be tested. Evaluated." I looked at the dead guards once more then I looked at everyone. "Where is the third one?" I asked.

My eyes widened, "Ra!" I said relieved he was not only okay but not dead. I rested my head against him as helped me walk, "I'm okay, I will be anyways I just need some time to get myself healed." I said quietly, I wasn't lying, but I did avoid saying how much pain I was in when walking. I looked around, this place looked awful, I was very anxious to get out of there. I blinked staring in shock seeing the dead guards, what in the world was happening? I wanted to ask but then Oya and Tyr arrived speaking one after the other. I looked up, "I pray we done..." I said tiredly, I really needed to sit down, but I remained holding onto Ra for support as I looked at Oya, "They were dead when we got here, he was no where in sight." I answered. Goodness to think we were being tested most likely by Sala who somehow already knew of us. Who exactly was this Sala? Whoever they were they were clearly dangerous. It really frightened me that more men like Balthazar might be lurking waiting to try and kill them. I looked at Oya meekly, what would we do now? I looked at Ra and Tyr afterwards, this was not good.

I let the burning in my chest and limbs simmer out slowly as I sat on the floor, eventually finding the strength to open my eyes and look down at myself. The corner of my mouth tugged out in disgust as the blood and debris had congealed on my skin, making my look made from bloody clay or something all together more disgusting. Looking around I spotted a well and a barrel no doubt full of water. It took a few attempts and the walls support but I eventually made it to my feet and struggled forward, more limping and dragging both feet than walking until I reached the barrel and placed both hands on it and look at my reflection in the water. I did not recognize the image that looked back at and sneered at it before dunking my head and shoulders fulling into the barrel, leaving myself submerged for a while until I felt the need to breathe. Whipping my head out and already feeling much better, I set to wiping and cleaning the worst of the filth and gore off myself before stepping to the well and began pulling on the rope to retrieve what I hoped was a bucket tied to its end.

A minute of what was more effort than I would have liked to admit and I hoisted the bucket of clean water over my head and let it wash down the rest of me. After another bucket flowed over me it revealed the sources of my aches and pains. A wealthy collection of cuts, grazes, holes and bruises of all shapes and sizes covering my arms, legs, chest and back. Most the cuts and holes had already stopped bleeding but some had not but what drew most of my attention was hilt protruding from the side of my calf. A heavy sigh escaped me as I reached down and removed it, counting myself lucky that the blade was only an inch or two long.

I felt suddenly light headed, most likely from the loss of blood that I did not realize I had lost and stumbled backwards. I attempted to steady myself against the water barrel but only succeeded in knocking it over and falling into a trough of water, presumably for the horses. The water flowing around me felt nice so I remained where I was and let my eyes slowly close.

I watched Tyr struggle to make himself somewhat decent before us. I could tell the others seemed to have had it rough and I was the only one without so much as a scratch on me. looked down, trying to think of what to say to the others but when nothing came to mind, I tried to figure out what to do next. I blinked as I realize that I was still holding the note in my hand and I looked at everyone. "I found this. A note from Sala." I said, lifting up the note and I read it outloud to the others. When I finished, I looked at everyone and shrugged lightly. "Well, until we can find him, we need to go back to Castow and report to Tather of our mission. We can collect our reward and figure out what to do next."

I looked at the note and I listened to Ra as he read the note outloud to us. I frowned in disappointment. "So, he was expecting us. He knew we would be coming to him and somehow we allow him to slip right past us." My tone rose in anger but I had to quickly stop myself for the pain in my chest had throbbed and I clutched my right hand against my chest. Damn...that hurts.. I winced as I removed my hand slowly from my chest. "For once, I agree with Ra. We need to go back to Castow and report what has happened but not only that.." I looked at everyone and my tone got serious as I looked everyone in the eyes. "..but we need to learn more about Sala and his men. They have powers like us and if they are using their powers to hurt people, we cannot stand by and let that happen. Is that understood?" I didn't wait for the others to respond before I let out a sharp whistle. My horse galloped towards me and I climbed on with difficultly and pain written on my face. Once on, I clutched my chest and I winced in pain as the throbbing slowly subsided but once it did, I sat up straight and I looked at everyone. "Let us be swift." I kicked my horse's side and it took off in a full run.

I watched the others warily before nodding my head, "Ah... that would be the best course of action..." I said quietly, I couldn't shake the feeling from my body that something was still very wrong, everything about this situation was wrong. I looked down slowly and eventually limbed over to my horse leaning against it as I buried my face into it's beautiful black side. I closed my eyes, extremely tired from the ordeal, I could have fallen asleep right there but I really shouldn't. I wanted to climb up but my body was screaming at me to stop moving considering how much I ached. My horse leaned down and nudged me onto it's back, I groaned, "Thanks..." I said petting it's head as I leaned on it, "Follow..." I muttered I didn't sleep, not yet. Not till we were safe, till then I would just try and save my energy. I watched Oya's horse race off into a full run, my horse trotting slowly after, I held onto the reins forcing myself to sit up carefully as I looked back towards the others.

Despite my body's best efforts to force me to sleep, I just about managed to keep my senses about me. Sitting upright and breathing deep, feeling like the weight of water was still compressing my chest. I pushed my hair back and pulled the water from my face, watching as Oya dashed quickly into the distance and Demeter slowly began to follow after. I took a moment to pull myself up and out of the trough, reaching down to pick up my armor and carry it slowly over to where Ra was and grabbing my sword before looking back at Ra. "When we get back, we are going to have a private talk with Tather." Talking took surprisingly more effort than I usual. "We have been here less than week and are already being toyed with and I already grow tired of our strings." I lugged the sword and armor over my shoulder and moved back to our original staging area.

Luckily the wagon and horses were still there as well as some remaining supplies. I loaded my equipment onto the wagon and quickly took some bread and cheese, enough for myself and handing the same amount to Ra. The food went a long way to recovering lost energy, I could almost feel life returning to my limbs as my wounds sealed and healed quicker than they had a right to.

Before long we were off heading back to Castow and I had to admit, I preferred riding in the back of the wagon compared to driving it. though I was still silently glad I was not riding one like the others, too unpredictable.... At both ends. I just hoped Oya did not get herself and Demeter into too much trouble before we were all there.

As the others left, all of a sudden I was gripped with a sinking feeling. Is this guilt? I mean, it isn't my fault that the rest fell into their trap and I didn't. Then I suddenly realized as Tyr tossed me the food, but my battle is yet to come. Sala did promise to kill us when we met. I won't give him that chance. I'll be ready. I watched the others move out.

I loaded onto my horse and kicked it's sides. "Heeya" He began to run. We ran past Tyr, then Demeter galloping. I reached some of the food out to her. "Here, take some of this. It may help you feel better." Then, I whip the reigns again and the horse takes off. I've got to catch up to Oya before she gets into what was my fault.

As I pulled up on her, I called out, but I guess she couldn't hear me. I called out again, but again she didn't slow down. I had to catch up to her, and fast.

As I rode towards Castow, my mind became lost in its own world, replaying my interaction with Brian. My chest throbbed from the memories and I placed my hand over my chest and I winced slightly. He got away and I...I could have died if I did figure out everything that I needed to as quickly as I did. My eyes narrowed slightly as I tighten my grip on the reins. This Sala guy was there and we missed him but if Brian was but a subordinate of Sala then I wonder...just how powerful is this Sala person and why is he hurting innocent people.

I continued my rapid pace until we finally made it to Castow. I struggled to dismount my horse before I finally got off and I winced once again in pain. One of the villagers looked over at me worriedly. I looked around, noticing that I was the first one to arrived and I spoke to the villagers. "I am in need of assistant." The villagers noticed that I was in pain and a woman approached me and lead me away to a small building. I hoped that while I was being tended to, the others would report to Tather and find more information on Sala.

Re: After the Fall

Hi everyone. I just wanted to clear some things up. Please feel free to take the story into your own hands when you feel the desire. The back story doesn't have to lead to an end game. It would be lovely if we all could contribute plots and situations that are unique. Villains, quests and character development will be up to you so do not hesitate to help lead the story.
