"Time stays long enough for anyone who will use it."

Magic is real, and time travel is considered to be its greatest art.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Even though the art can be mastered by anyone, it is kept a secret from the general populace. Those who do know the art, time travelers by name, are free to use it for their own desires. It is what the traveler does with the time they are given that truly defines them. If they use it for selfish desires - for harm instead of helping, they will most likely become targets to the authorities. Then again, they could always find acceptance in the ranks of those who want change. In this day and age, the time-travelling world is full of war and revolution. The things that were wrong before are now considered right. It all depends on perspective, and whoever comes out on top.

However, none of this could come to be if not for the devices that make it all happen. Every person who has the right to call themselves a time-traveler is equipped with a charm: a magical object that allows the user to teleport themselves back into the past. ( And only the past. Travelling into the future has not been made possible yet.) Charms come in all different shapes and sizes. They can be anything. The most common charms, however, are usually accessories, such as pocket watches and wristwatches, necklaces, bracelets, rings, and even belts.

A charm is only as good as the bond it shares with its user. Bonds are formed through hard work, usage, and practice. The greater the bond, the more abilities a charm will possess. For example, a decent bond will not only allow the time-traveler to go back in time, but also teleport them to the place in the past where they want to go. It will also let them teleport in the present as well. A good bond lets the traveler use a function called 'locking', where the time they are currently in is blocked so that people in the future are unable to automatically go back to the place they are in. The function is usually used for private matters. Great bonds perform extra features - such as giving the user clothes from the time period they are in, (so that they fade in with their surroundings) or showing the traveler the names of people or places once they pass by. However, despite how strong a bond is, charms do have their limitations. A time-traveler can only determine the date and year they go back to - the time corresponds with the one shown in the present. (For example, if you want to go back to August 1st, 1978 while it is 10:30 am in the present, you will end up in August 1st, 1978, at 10:30 am that day.) When a charm is broken, it dissolves into tiny glistening particles. The particles are simply known as charm dust. Time-travelers stay away from charm dust, as it is believed to be poisonous. However, although it cannot be touched, it can be used to make new time-traveling devices.

Now that the basics are explained, our story can be told. In the United Kingdom, there are four powerful groups. Containing members who are all time-travelers themselves, the groups all have different goals and purposes. Some are just and authorative, while others demonstrate cunning and stealth. It is because of their differences that these groups clash on a daily basis. Although the four organizations have been able to keep themselves at a good distance from one another, boundaries and patience may be broken due to the death of an influential leader in the time-traveling community...

Who will live? Who will die? And most importantly, what will change?...

The Watchers are part of an ancient order that can trace their origins back to the very beginning of time. (Or so the legends say.) This group acts as law-enforcement for all time-travelers and protects the timeline from being contaminated with harmful changes and errors. They are tasked with fixing the past whenever a catastrophic change is made by other time-travelers, and arresting those who tamper with time in an unruly way. The training to become a watcher is very strenuous, and takes about three years. Great watchers must display strength, stamina, and above all, smarts. Watchers must become one with time, and learn to fade themselves into any part of history they may travel to. After all, "we are the hands of the clock, itself" is their popular and inspiring catchphrase. Despite the fact that the Watchers are a highly respected group amongst the time-traveling community, there have been recent troubles arising in their organization. With the sudden death of their chief, Artemis Fletcher, bickering has gone on about who should be the new leader. While a decision is still up in the air, the cause of Fletcher's death is being searched. Most speculate that she was murdered by the Breakers; a rogue group of time-travelers who are constant enemies to the Watchers. The Breakers deny having anything to do with Artemis Fletcher's death. However, there is no proof to back up their claim.

Her family believes her to be dead. }

The motto above was originally coined by a wise yet loose-moraled man named Rodolphus Vane. After a Watcher killed his innocent father when he was only a boy, Vane learned the laws of time-travel, and later destroyed the man before he could lay a finger on his dad, whom he saved. He gained a plethora of followers in his day, and although the time in which Vane lived is highly classified information, we can assume that his friends later went on to form the group currently known as the Breakers. Generically speaking, the Breakers are an order of shadowy assassins and task-fulfillers who use time travel to carry out contracts handed to them by clients. Although they have a long-standing rivalry with the Watchers, (who consider them to be criminals and will arrest them on sight) the matter of whether their intentions are good or evil is entirely based on perspective. Although the group seems extremely malicious, they have completed tasks that result in changing time for the better. Filled with professional, down-to-earth people, this group is the closest thing you can get to family. (As most of the members have experienced tragedy in their pasts.) Unlike the Watchers who view time-travel as being something open to anyone who is willing to use it, the Breakers consider it to be a highly private matter, and believe that it should not come free to a stingy, selfish, and unintelligent public. Therefore, all members of this group have a family history with time-travel. In regards to Artemis Fletcher's death, the Breakers truly had nothing to do with it. However, that's quite hard to explain to their tunnel-visioned enemies.

His sister, who is supposed to be the leader, ran off years ago. He believes her to be dead. }

|{"Freedom with restrictions makes a poor man a king."}|

Also known as "the poor man's group", the Stretchers are a tight-knit organization made up of mercenaries, thieves, and professional beggars. A group for the pauperized, they'll steal valuable artifacts from the past, bring them to the present, and then sell them for cash. They are sneaky, and don't steal anything obvious, (such as items found in art galleries and museums,) because then they would be caught. Instead, they focus on treasures thought to be lost, hidden, and/or stolen. Many items that people believe to be "fake" are actually in their possession. (For example, the Holy Grail.) The members of the Stretchers have a reputation for being cunning, stealthy, and above all, greedy. Although the Watchers penalize them for their thievery and the Breakers don't entirely trust them, members of the Stretchers aren't necessarily considered to be 'threats', and the group itself has no named rival. Therefore, some members go so far as to offer their time and talents to either group, and will fight by their side. (As long as they are paid in the end.) Their motto, "freedom with restrictions makes a poor man a king", means that all members can steal as much as they want. However, they must not kill. In fact, all members are banned from doing so. Unless it is used in self-defense, the Stretchers believe that killing causes more problems than it solves - especially if it is done upon the innocent. Therefore, stealing without killing brings success. Although the motto is considered code for every member of the group, it hasn't really been upheld in recent times...

A while ago, a lesser-known group of rogue time travelers secretly bribed the leader of the Stretchers to carry out the assassination of Artemis Fletcher. It was a rather large sum of money, and the group was lacking in coin at the time, so she agreed. Without telling the other members, the leader slit Fletcher's throat in the Watchers' headquarters, and fled. A Watcher spotted the woman wearing a stolen jacket with the Breakers' symbol embroidered on the back, and so the war between the Watchers and the Breakers over Fletcher's assassination began. The other members of the Stretchers have since found out the truth, and have tried their best to hide themselves from accusations and suspicions. Still, the other members can never forgive their leader for what she has done. Nowadays, rumors have been going around that not all of the members are entirely faithful to their leader, and some people are even scheming plots to undermine her position of authority. Now that she's broken the code, the code itself is being questioned.

In other words, nobody can be trusted.

|{"We will take the seconds wasted and the seconds yet to come."}|

Unknown and unimportant to the Watchers and the Breakers, the Changers are trying to do exactly what their name implies: change time. They want an end to the many time-travelling groups, therefore bringing an end to the feuds and corruption between them. However, the way they plan to carry out their goal is not what most people expect. In fact, there's a whole lot more to this group than meets the eye. You see, the Changers are mostly made up of powerful criminals, convicts, and psychopaths who want nothing more than to completely destroy the other groups and rule the time stream for themselves. They've taken their first step by murdering Artemis Fletcher, the leader's aunt, and collecting her charm. Charm dust is something that time-travellers are warned to stay away from. However, the Changers know the truth about charm dust. It isn't poisonous at all. Those were just lies made up by the Watchers long ago so that commoners wouldn't get their hands on it. It's actually extremely powerful. One touch of charm dust is enough to change animals into mythical creatures, make objects invisible, and allow people to fly, or shoot fire from their hands, or much more - it has different effects on everyone. Of course, with a vast supply of charm dust, one can do incredible things. Most humans, like the alchemist Nicholas Flamel and the "divine beings" the Greeks called their gods, used charm dust to make themselves immortal. However, the leader has something else in mind. He wants to gather enough charm dust to create another dimension - a dimension that would destroy the one we live in. A dimension where the Changers would rule. First, the group needs to find Watchers and Breakers, steal their charms, destroy them, and collect the dust inside. If they break at least four of them, they should be able to complete their goal. Due to the recent help of the Stretchers, the Changers have made an oath not to harm them or steal their charms. However, with the group's deceiving nature, that promise may not last forever.

Sadie Abrams could listen to the crackly sounds of old music every day, and today was no exception. A gramophone perched on the table beside her played a grand yet slow-paced Edith Piaf song. Combined with the natural, relaxing sounds of 1940's Paris, the atmosphere around the café where Sadie ate her lunch was enrapturing - almost hypnotic. Whenever she had a break, she'd travel to this little coffeehouse called "Les pousses et les lances". She had discovered it while tracking down a criminal hiding in one of the tiny brick-built apartments nearby, and had become enchanted by the small establishment after drinking one of the fine brews that the charismatic owner, named Bert, had personally created for her. It was her own little private heaven, and visiting the café for lunch had become a part of her daily routine.

A newspaper in her hands, Sadie took one last bite of her tomato sandwich, and from her pocket, produced the amount of francs she needed to cover the bill. As if on cue, Bert came over to her table, his round cheeks blushing a rosy pink hue.

"Est-ce ma petite fleur fait avec sa nourriture?" ("Is my little flower done with her food?") Sadie chuckled and beamed.
"Oui. J'ai le montant pour la nourriture ici." ("Yes. I have the amount for the food here.")
He shook his head, pouting dramatically. "Non, non ... vous êtes mon client le plus précieux. Tu manges gratuitement, ici." ("No, no...you are my most valued customer. You eat free, here.")
Sadie laughed, and shook her head as well. "Bert, je ne pourrait pas ... je dois vous payer! Vous êtes trop gentil avec moi ..." ("Bert, I couldn't possibly...I have to pay you! You're too kind to me...")
In response, he stroked his beard - clearly he was deep in thought. "Très bien ... mais en me payer, vous devez me faire une faveur." ("Alright...but in paying me, you must do me a favor.")

He slipped inside the shop, and in a few minutes, came back with a glass-like bracelet with varying pastel-colored beads that glimmered in the sunlight. He began to slip it around her wrist.

"This bracelet belonged to my sister." he said quickly in french, "It is an heirloom passed down to every daughter or grandaughter in my family when they come of age. My sister, who previously owned it, died many years ago. I kept it in memory of her. Because you remind me of her very much, I would love for you to have it, as it is of no use to me."

Sadie's lips were parted in awe. "Monsieur Bert..."
"J'insiste." ("I insist.") he said, "Comme le paiement de votre repas, vous devez me faire cette faveur en gardant la possession prisée de ma famille." ("As payment for your meal, you must do me this favor in keeping my family's prized possession.")
She hugged him tightly, thanking him while patting him on the back. Soon after, another customer stopped by, and Sadie was left to her own device. She sat there quietly, closing her eyes and breathing in the cool Parisian air. Everything was peaceful and quiet...until it became too quiet.

Sadie watched a black cruiser quickly roll by. It seemed to carry the shadow of the streets with it. The Daimler Benz stopped at the building next-door, and two men dressed in uniforms came out. They knocked on the door, a woman in her late forties coming out to greet them. Sadie watched as the woman's smile quickly turned into a worried expression. The three argued for many minutes, attracting attention all around them. Then, the two men barged in, pushing the woman past them. That's when Sadie noticed the Nazi Swastikas pinned to the sides of their sleeves. She bit her nails in worry. It was best not to cross them.

But when she saw the screaming Jewish man and woman they forcefully carried outside with them, she knew she needed to act. They weren't just any Nazis - they were the gestapo, and if they weren't terminated, those innocent people would be taken to the nearest concentration camp, where they'd be shot in trenches and burned in ovens. Sadie stood up quickly, knocking over the chair beside her, and ran to one of the gestapo men. "Stop right now!" she screamed. He saw her coming, however, and knocked her over just before he was about to punch her. He pulled out a slick, black gun, and swiftly aimed it at her head. Before she could hear a sharp, painful sound, she saw the silhouette of a man jump in front of her.

When Sadie opened her eyes, she was sitting in the middle of Castle Aetas's library. She hadn't intended to come back to the present..why had she time-traveled back by accident? Before she could ask herself anymore questions, Sadie suddenly realized what had happened a mere few seconds ago.
"No...no, no, NO!!!" she exclaimed. There was nobody in the room, so it made no difference whether or not she was loud or quiet. She ran over to the Book of Life, and flipped through the pages until she found the name 'Bert Germain'. Her heart sank into her stomach when she found the date he had died. July 23rd, 1941, 11:30 am...the time she had just left. He had given his life for her.

Sadie tried to think of a way to go back and save him, but every idea she had led to the potential occurrence of a paradox. She stared down at the bracelet on her wrist, and quietly got lost in her own mind as she walked out of the library towards Artemis Fletcher's old office. She was overcome with emotions, but she refused to let anyone see them. After all, she was at the castle to work, not cry.

{ Present || The Warren || 11:30 am }

The sea beside him shined a bright, blue aura as Felix Abrams, the new leader of the Breakers, sat in his office alone. The same office that had formerly belonged to his father, it was large, dark, and strangely isolated, despite the fact that there were ceiling-high bookcases, as well as leather sofas and mahogany tables that filled the room's space. People often joked about how Felix's office was the most quiet room in the entire Warren, which wasn't exactly far from the truth. Everyone knew that the young man preferred silence to sound, and sitting in his workplace was like sitting inside of a projection of his own blank mind.

Felix had spent the morning going through the past month's fulfilled contracts. All of the missions that had been completed, all of the people that had been slayed...they neatly sat in a pile on his jet-black desk. His mind was in two different places; not only would he have to send back the completed contracts to their original clients, but he'd also have to make sure everyone in the organization got payed for their work. It was confusing, tiring, and tedious, but it had to be done. Felix had learned how to shut up and deal with things all of his life. These contracts were no exception.

Just then, someone knocked on his door. "Come in."
A woman in her late forties entered, holding a pearly-white envelope in her hands. Her name was Claudia. She delivered the mail around the Warren, and did a bunch of other helpful things inside of the Breakers' base. At one point, she had even been Felix's father's girlfriend. She noiselessly handed the envelope to him, and left. He opened it, and curled the sides of his lips into something of a smile.

The Breakers hadn't received any new contracts in a week. However, Felix had no doubt in his mind that the dryness of business would lead to something big. The new contract he held in his hands proved his own intuition. The client was a man named Douglass Wald. He wanted three people dead, all of them worth a high bounty. This mission would be worth more than any of the others the Breakers had to complete over the years.

He exited his office, and strode his way to the living room, where most of the organization's members could be found. He stood in the middle of the room, cleared his throat, and then began to speak.
"Attention," he said, "I have a contract in my office that needs to be fulfilled. The client has established more than one target, so anyone can come see me if they are interested, as this may require more than one hand." Felix walked to one of the archways nearby, stopping momentarily.

"And by the way," he said, his back turned to his audience. "It's a big one."

He then exited the room, following one of the tunnels to his office, and approached the large glass window that practically made up one wall of the room. He placed his hands behind his back in a military fashion, and inspected the august statues located just outside of the observatory nearby. He payed special attention to the clay sculpture depicting his father, the one that was closest to his window.

{ 1963 || Lincoln Memorial || 28th, August }

Beatrice had followed along with the march. She had walked with the March on Washington with her hands linked side by side with two African-American woman, her mouth opened wide as she sang the same songs as them, marched along with them with wide eyes filled with a sort of fascination that each of them bore. They were making history- and only Beatrice could already feel the triumph that would create waves throughout the American community until the shocking deaths of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr. But for now she let the assassinations slip behind her as she marched on with the voices of protest and song. It was beautiful, truly, she thought as she looked around, her feet jittery and soft as her nerves constantly caught her breath in her esophagus, keeping it there indefinitely before finally letting it go so that Beatrice could breathe. It was beautiful and yet it was a failure at the same time. It would work- it would be an iconic movement, and yet at the same time there were signs of fracture. “Are you alright, sister?” The woman on her right asked Beatrice as she lagged behind a bit, her face growing white as the tall Lincoln Memorial came into view. It was all beautiful. The day was bright, the sky was blue. Everything would work out and the march would be joined shortly by the leading members of the Civil Rights Movement. Martin Luther King, Jr. would be late but it did not matter for he would make one of the most iconic speeches in American history. Oh how fickle history and time is. Beatrice thought as she struggled forward once more, keeping her hands linked with the woman. “Yes, thank you.”She muttered, giving the woman- Janice was her name- a small smile as they finally came to a stop.

The American anthem started to blare from the speakers but would not be led by Marian Anderson- no, like the leaders of the movement had been, she would be late. But the program would be followed and Rev. Patrick O’Boyle would be on stage next for his invocation, then A. Philip Randolph, Eugene Carson Blake, Bayard Rustin, Mrs. Medgar Evers, Daisy Bates, Diane Nash, Prince E. Lee, Rosa Parks, Gloria Richardson, John Lewis, Walter Reuther, James Farmer- and then there would be a break during which a choir would ring through the air. Beatrice knew because she had read the books and she had been there so many times already, hiding in the shadows, peering in on televisions, reading the transcripts. Everything had already been printed onto the very surface of her brain. The prayer that came next rolled off of her tongue as perspiration formed on her forehead- she was growing shakey once more but she would have to hold her nerves in. Rabbi Uri Miller, Whitney M. Young, Jr., Mathew Ahmann, Roy Wilkins, Mahalia Jackson, Rabbi Joachim Prinz, and then, once again, Beatrice watched Martin Luther King, Jr. walk up to the podium once more, surrounded by men whom believed in the same cause as him.

Beatrice watched as the man whom would die in five more years opened his mouth and started without pause the first sentence of his speech. “I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.” Her lips moved along with his as she stood tip-toe on the tips of her feet, straining her neck to look over the heads of thousands of others. “…One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination.” It was as if the mass of people whom stood at the Mall nodded in unison, ignoring the many police that had been stationed across the nation capitol with guns, fangs and tanks. But everything was silent as he spoke, his voice reverberating through the empty air as the people below watched on in awe and respect.

This was the moment of change- the time when dreams burst forth and were splattered down on the streets in hopes that they would one day be able to reach the sky.

Pulling away from her two friends, Beatrice smiled at them and waved, motioning that she wasn’t feeling too well before making her way out of the large crowd, her pale face shimmering in the air as she made her way out of the large group of people and onto the abandoned streets of Washington, DC. Reeling slightly, Beatrice made her way into an alley as she checked left and right, making sure that no one was watching her as she came to a stop, her black dress fluttering around her body slightly as she pulled her large sun hat off. It was time- she had wasted enough and she could feel the strain on her own body. Beatrice needed the sleep she had long since denied to skip from place to place, traveling in a frenzy as if to shake something off of her mind.

It’s time to go home.

She closed her eyes. Darkness greeted her with hints of red, as sunlight splayed down from the heavens into the little alley that she stood in- but colors suddenly burst out of nowhere as they showered Beatrice’s sight with streaks of rainbows. Her breathing stopped as a fierce wind billowed around her, buffeting her hair and the hat that she clenched tight to her chest. Then, she opened her eyes, letting out the breath that she had kept down inside as she stumbled into the Castle Aetas library, her eyes wide and filled with confusion. But the familiar sight calmed Bee down as she sat down on one of the plush sofas, gathering herself once more before opening her eyes. A long sight left Beatrice as she straightened herself up, sitting up straight as she turned to hear footsteps in the corridor adjacent to the library. “Hello?” She called out, getting up on her wobbly legs before sprinting lightly out of the library, turning her head left and right as she hoped she would see a familiar, heart-warming face or back.

“Sadie?” Beatrice hissed out as she leaned against the door frame, a small smile appearing on her face as she recognized the familiar back of her friend. “Sadie! You wouldn’t believe where I just was!” She said as she tried to follow behind the other Watcher, only to catch her right foot on her left leg, causing her to trip around before finally regaining her balance. But Beatrice only took two steps in Sadie’s direction before coming to a stop. “Sadie?”

{ 1888 | | Near Flower and Dean Street, Spitalfields | | Midnight }

“The Canonical five…” Asmodeus allowed the words to roll off of his tongue as he smoked, his hair swaying in the dirty Victorian Age English air. “If only they knew…” Standing up, Asmodeus grappled his way onto the top of the chapel, standing at the top of the pointy rooftop as he flung his hands into the air. I am the true Jack the Ripper! He yelled as, cackling loudly as the wind buffeted around him, almost causing the hard felt hat he had purchased earlier to fly away. Securing it further down onto his head, Asmodeus twirled around two times before allowing his hands to raise into position, the cords of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, Winter, Movement I to flow through his limbs. As his arms flew in place of the music inside his head, Asmodeus hummed the tune as well, his eyes closed taut as he walked on the thin ledge that he stood on. The last final chords were put in place in the air as Asmodeus opened his eyes once more, taking in the dark, mucky scene that was London. Show time. Asmodeus took in a long breath as he fixed his earphones, keeping them in place as the next movement of Vivaldi’s Winter started playing. It was slow- but Asmodeus needed to act fast. 12:35 was slowly creeping up behind his back.

Leaping onto the slanted surface of the two wings of the chapel roof, Asmodeus slowly strode over to the ledge, glaring down at the floor that was three stories down below. It would be no big deal at all. Bending over, Asmodeus made sure he had a secure grip on the side of the chapel roof before he let the rest of his body over the roof, allowing his feet to fling around in the air for a few seconds before he found the small cracks in the stone surface that made up the walls of the chapel. Quickly, he let his hands go as he made his way down, taking a rest at a window ledge before continuing until the ground was but two meters away. Pushing himself off of the wall, Asmodeus flipped midair and landed on his feet, stabilizing himself for a second before somersaulting on the ground and quickly walking away. “Faster…faster… bloody hell.” Walking down the street he was on, the sounds of laughter and singing rose into Asmodeus’s ears as he rounded onto Flower and Dean Street, his eyes searching left and right before continuing on into the street. The handbook Asmodeus had taken from the real Jack the Ripper had detailed the lives of each of his to-be victims- and Elizabeth Strides was no different from the others. Prostitute, easy to pick up. Pretty. Lots of customers.

Turning along the street, Asmodeus ignored the looks of others as he hummed the “From the New World” symphony by Dvorak, his voice sinister and low, collar popped up so that half of his face was blocked. But Elizabeth would see his face, no worries. As he turned to the house that had been listed in the small notebook, a woman and a man came blundering down the street, laughing at the tops of their lungs before the man grabbed the woman, pulled her into an embrace and hastily left. Asmodeus raised an eyebrow at the fat man whom dashed across the street and into a cab before turning to the woman whom he presumed to at least know Elizabeth Stride. Coughing slightly- the horrid air was creating an infection in his throat- Asmodeus looked at the woman and nodded his chin at her. “Elizabeth Stride? Or presumably an acquaintance of Elizabeth Stride?” As he asked, he shifted the black violin case on his back to one shoulder, allowing it to hang from his shoulder as he looked at the apprehensive woman. “Yes? I am Elizabeth Stride, sir.” Asmodeus’s eyes roamed down to her mouth as she spoke, the words forming slowly in his mind as he deciphered the words she said through the shapes she made with her mouth. It’s her. Reaching into his pocket, Asmodeus flashed a few pieces of the money fo the era, allowing her to get a good glance before standing straight and looking away. It was as if the prostitute immediately knew what Asmodeus wanted. “This way, then.” Her mouth formed, as she reached over and attempted to link her arm through Asmodeus’s- but the man immediately moved away and struck out, muttering to himself as he recited the plans that the original Jack the Ripper had planned out for Elizabeth Stride.

But the deed would not be finished. Damned Jews would come blundering down to Dutfield’s Yard. A growl left Asmodeus as he turned and stalked down the road, hesitating for a second before finally walking into Dutfield’s Yard, the poor, soon-to-be-dead prostitute stumbling along behind him through the muggy September air. ”Sir?” But Asmodeus could not hear her as he stalked further into the Yard, his fingers drumming against the long coat that covered him from head to toe. “Sir- is this not far enough?” He still couldn’t hear her. However, as the last wavering notes of the Symphony sounded from Asmodeus’s earphones Asmodeus immediately grabbed his violin case and swung it through the air. A dull thunk sounded from the collision between the hard wood and the side of the woman’s face as she fell to the ground silent. She wasn’t dead. Crouching down, Asmodeus brushed her hair aside hastily as he peered into her face. “Hello?” No response. Looking around, Asmodeus quickly grabbed the prostitute by the scarf around her neck and dragged her to a more secluded spot, cursing the entire way under his breath as Mozart’s Requiem started to play. “Everything alright?” He whispered while his right hand pulled out a knife and twirled it between his fingers. The woman hadn’t even tried to struggle as Asmodeus had dragged her along.Out cold. Good enough for me. The knife immediately found its way to Elizabeth’s throat, stabbing itself in deep.

A gurgle seemed to sound from the unmoving woman’s mouth as her last breath left her. Sleep well, dearest. Asmodeus growled under his breath as he dragged the knife horizontally across her neck, causing flesh and bone to be exposed. The cut itself was clear and straight, slightly downward bending but acceptable in Asmodeus’s eyes- but as he moved to the woman’s abdominal area his music stopped. A crack of a tree branch resounded through the silent yard as Asmodeus immediately stood up, his eyes wide with petrifying anger as he glared at the man whom had stumbled upon Asmodeus in the middle of work. From the dim light Asmodeus could make out the man- a Jewish protestor that had been lounging in front of the club meeting for the “Necessity of Socialism amongst Jews”. The man spoke jibberish with an alarmed tone as he tried to make out what was happening- but Asmodeus only hissed one word. Lipski! A cackle sounded throughout the air as Asmodeus flipped open his case and reached for his bow- and for a second everything was black before color once again returned.

He was in his room once again. Slamming his violin case shut, Asmodeus let a loud snarl to leave him as he kicked a stack of books aside, ignoring the mess as he paced angrily around his room. “I was so close…so close…bloody Jewish societies…so bloody close.” His left hand fingers flew in the air as music ran through them once more- but it was not enough to calm Asmodeus down. Finally coming to a stop, Asmodeus glared down at his violin case before picking it up once more and storming out of his room. It would not do for him to go back in time to finish the deed- no, he didn’t feel any interest in completing the Elizabeth Stride business. But the man. Yes, he would go back, then. Finish something that the original Jack the Ripper had never done.

But now- now, Asmodeus needed to calm down with a cup of ramen.

{ Present || The Warren || 11:30 am }

Sandara turned the page of her favourite book The whisperer as she read it yet again for the 100th time if she were to count that is. No matter how many times she read the book, she would still have the same thoughts like the first time she read it. The living room was oddly filled with the members of the breakers because usually they all would be minding their business elsewhere. But it seemed like they all had something in mind, perhaps a big job would come about to ease the boredom.

Her eyes skimmed around the surroundings of the living room as she shut the book. Sandara had always found it to be beautiful with it stunning architecture but also not forgetting the view of the bright blue sea which in her eyes was the main attraction. At first she found The Warren daunting, especially since she couldn't swim and the constant fear of drowning would remain in her head. Though the fear didn't last for long as she quickly taught herself to swim and actually learned to appreciate the beauty rather than the fear of drowning which would most likely not occur. She absentmindedly rubbed on the tattoo on her right thumb while pulling herself onto her feet. Looking down at her book she grabbed the old copy and slipped it into her small bag which was given to her as a gift from Sanghyun when he left for South Korea to continue university. She rolled her eyes at the sorry excuse for a bag but no matter how ugly it was it reminded her of her younger brother and anyway the fact that he tried meant a lot. In a way she felt somewhat sorry for her brother, their parents had died within a few months of each other and then Sandara had pushed him to study abroad where at least their were some relatives to look after him. It was clear that Sanghyun didn't want to leave but she strongly believed that he would be a lot more safer away from her and the whole time travelling experience.

It took her a while to snap out of her daze which came frequent these days, most would joke about how much of a dreamer she was which was completely false. No, it was rather that she would always be thinking of the past and how she could have changed things. Well technically speaking she probably could seeing as time travelling was always an option, however everyone knew it would be stupid to go back and stop an event like her mother's death. The mere thought made her want to mentally slap herself. The fact that she even went back to that exact time just to see her mother die was enough to prove that she was murdered by a watcher. Not that I didn't assume so she thought with a sigh.

As she looked up she saw that Felix had already walked into the room. The new leader probably had a lot of pressure thrown at him and seeing as he was so young Sandara reminded herself to try and be as helpful as possible. She automatically smiled at the prospect of a new job and seeing as it took time to appear it must be a good one. From the corner of her eye she watched as those around her seemed to also take interest and wondered if this would be a team job. Before Felix left he mentioned that it was a big one which only heightened her curiosity.

Stepping forward she smiled warmly at those around her , "Well this seems interesting." Sandara grinned as she turned and headed out of the living room and towards his office.

{ 1875 || Rue de Miromesnil || 3:00 pm }

Ondine could only watch as the Caillebotte sat at his pedestal and began to sketch; the subject for his piece being a man wearing informal clothing watching the urban city before him. Nothing amazing was about to happen, but maybe that’s what made the scene so charming.

“René, s'il vous plaît déplacer légèrement vers la gauche,” (René, please move slightly to the left.) The artist instructed, to which his brother complied. Ondine was fascinated by their interaction with each other; formal but with a familial sort of love woven in. It reminded her so much of the relationship she and Adrien used to have. She hated it.

Forgetting about her brother she took out a notepad and began to draw the painter, sketching his brother. After having watched Caillebotte draft his piece Ondine could see the pattern to the way he drew. Wrist movements were fluid and the pencil markings never too harsh. She started as he did and drew the background first, making sure to lightly draw in the small detail; having then finished that she started on the painter himself.

He had a hardened face that most likely was the result of being in war, and a haircut that was reminiscent of the American Military crew cut. He wasn’t the most handsome man she’s seen, but he certainly wasn’t unattractive either. The way in which he held himself didn’t read untouchable, but rather focused and to not be bothered with trivial matters. Ondine appreciated him for that; many of the other artists she’s visited weren’t so silent.

“Vous avez terminé pour aujourd'hui, mon frère. Merci d'être mon modèle,” (You’re done for today, brother. Thank you for being my model.) René nodded and silently walked out of the room without as much as a glance toward her. “Avez-vous appris quelque chose Ondine?” (Have you learned anything Ondine?)

She only smiled slightly in response and ripped out the sketch from her notebook and handed it to him. He gave a nod of appreciation and gave it back to her. “Je reviendrai quand vous commencez à peindre,” (I’ll come back when you start painting.) and with that she left the room and took out the knife she kept in her pocket.

Ondine began to twirl it and closed her eyes willing herself back to the mansion. In a matter of seconds she felt the atmosphere change. No longer did it feel amiable, but rather stale and lacking charm. She didn’t mind it though; rather it was a welcome change. Being in one person’s presence for too long had a sort of negative effect on her, even if said person didn’t talk much.

Her stomach rumbled and Ondine knew it was time to feed herself. Hopefully she could finish before the loyal dog came down.

{ Present ||Highgate Cemetery|| 11:20am }

The sky above was warm and bright; the sun was shining bright yellow, drying the rain from the previous night. Axel, with hands deep in his pockets and lips pursed, made his way down the quiet late morning street. As he broke away from the main street, he found himself on a dirt path surrounded by nothing more than vines, trees and pure wilderness. As his feet stepped out in front of him, the mud squished below. The sky above Axel was beautiful and warm but he was anything but. There was a pain inside Axel’s chest that held his heart. The throbbing squeezed with every step he took closer and closer to the cemetery. He was finding it hard to breathe. Axel reached the entrance to the cemetery and froze. His gaze was turned upward as he stared at the grand stone arch, covered in bold green vines. There was a musky smell to everything. Axel wasn’t sure it was the greens surrounding him, that fresh air smell or the graveyard that just beyond that musky arch held the bones of many loved ones and many forgotten ones. Forest always had a smell of mold and rain, no matter if the sun was bright or the fogs kissed the ground; but then again, so did the dead.

Axel took a deep breath and bowed his head down again as he made his way through the gateway. His feet dragged slowly behind him with every step. It was almost as if his body had begun lagging on him, like a video that hasn’t had the time to buffer. He hasn’t buffered really. It’s been many, many years since he’s been through the arch and he didn’t think he’d be there any time soon. But the occasion called for it. It was nearing the anniversary of the date that his mother had passed and Axel was afraid that when the day actually came, he wouldn’t have the strength to come by and visit her. As Axel walked, he could remember the sweet sound of her voice.♪This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine.♪ Axel shut his eyes as he instantly threw himself back into the memory of his beautiful and caring mother. A single warm tear rolled down his bare cheek.

The strides in Axel’s steps got shorter as he neared her stone. He could barely see it as his eyes swelled with tears. “Oh mom,” he softly whimpered to himself just as he reached her tombstone. The breath in Axel’s lungs suddenly escaped him and he found himself on his knees in a deep sob. “Mommy, why did you leave? Why?” Axel felt heavy with guilt. It’s been nearly a decade that his mother has been dead but Axel never had the courage to come see his mother. He’d been afraid of the vulnerability that comes with grieving and never allowed himself to do so. Until now. He wept for all the years he’s been holding it back.

Axel sat back on his feet, and stared at the tombstone. His eyes were swollen with the grievance and longing of his mother, he wanted to disappear. He pulled his pocket watch from his pocket and held it tight in his hand. “I love you, Mom.” And with that, Axel was gone.

Standing in the observatory, Axel stares out at the vast blue ocean ahead of him. His eyes were still red and puffy, it had been quite obvious that he was crying. Axel would have hated for anyone to see him the way that he was, but right now it didn’t matter. Axel looked at this pocket watch still clutched in his hands; 11:30. Axel wanted to speak to Abrams about seeing if there had been any contracts that needed taking care of. It’s been a week the Breakers had received any work and it left Axel too much time for thinking, he didn’t like that. He tightened his grip on the pocket watch again and in the blink of an eye, he stood with many other Breakers just as Felix stepped into the room.

Axel despised Felix in all honesty. He hated the fact that a child, basically, had been put on the throne. Axel felt he was much more qualified, he was older, stronger, and he was the grandson of a legend after all. The Wolff’s had a total of four clay statues out in the midst of them all. Abrams had what? One? Maybe two. There was no way that Felix was ready for leading this group, but Axel waited. He kept his mouth shut until he knew it was a good time to roll through a steal the spotlight from the kid. As Felix spoke about the new contracts, Axel huffed. I could do all three on my own, he thought to himself. Felix Abrams, new leader of the Breakers, left the room and Axel watched. This could be it. This could be the time that I take control and show them that I’m a better leader than he is. They’ll see. I’m a Wolff. I’m a born leader. I’ll be damned if I let some jockey take my rightful place.

There was mutter in the room but Axel wouldn’t let himself stick around long enough for anyone to take this job from his hands. He left in the same direction Felix had, hoping to catch up with him. Axel headed towards Felix’s office but caught him in the observatory where he had intentionally arrived. There was something so peaceful about the gentle water deep below the surface that always left him caught up as well. Abrams stood up straight but his eyes held focus with one of the statues. Wolff knew which one. Axel silently joined by Felix’s side and took the same pose. They stood for a few silent moments before Axel cleared his throat. “Your father was a great man.” Axel did not want to meet Abrams gaze in the possibility that he would notice of the tear streak that had made it’s place on Axel’s cheeks, he kept his gaze on the statues. “I hope to one day only join him out there in that garden with my ancestors as well.” This time Axel did look at Felix. He was honest in the sense that he too strived to one day be a legendary name and face. “I wish to fulfill this contract sir. It’d be my pleasure.” Axel held his gaze with Felix. He refused to be made a mockery of and being anything but a legend was a disappointing let down to the Wolff family. He needed this contract.

Otis' Outfit || Rose's Outfit

A lazy smile appears on the young woman's face as she eyes her older brother beside her. He is obviously not enjoying the opera, his eyes half obscured by his eyelids as sleep fights for a hold. Roselin can see that if she doesn't act soon her brother is likely to fall asleep and begin snoring, something which she doubts the famed Vivaldi would approve. The two siblings are attending Vivaldi's first opera, Ottone in villa. The opera was Rose's idea, one that her brother only grudgingly agreed to after losing their last bet.
"Otis, if you fall asleep I will leave you here." Rose threatens in a whisper, leaning forward so that only Otis hears her words. The pair are in a small booth, so any whispering is unlikely to carry to their neighbours' booths, but it was best to ere on the side of caution than not.
"I can't understand anything they're saying." Otis replies in a mutter, making less of an attempt to quieten his voice than his sister.
"That's because it's in Italian." Rose retorts. Rose may not speak Italian fluently, but she knows enough to be able to follow the opera. "Anyway, just sit back and enjoy the music. This is history in the making."

Otis simply quirks an eyebrow and sits back with his arms crossed to wait out the rest of the show. Classical music, opera... this is not what he likes. He knows too that Rose would much prefer a lively Jazz performance or a Beatles concert to this. If Otis had his way the two siblings would now be getting jostled around at a loud rock concert. Instead he was here, listening to an opera he can't understand in stiff, over the top clothes he detests. Sure, he knows he looks good in all the pomp of the 18th century, but there is something decidedly irritating about so many frills. No, he would much rather be in a simple suit, a loose shirt and jeans, or even a set of robes from Ancient Greece.

Intermission couldn't have come sooner. Taking this as his last chance to escape Otis turns to Rose and pulls out his time-travel charm, his pocket watch. "Let's go before I die of boredom." He says, already turning his device to his desired travel time.
Rose pouts "We've only seen half the opera." She contests. Rose is enjoying the show well enough, but she is beginning to see that perhaps Otis isn't the best person to attend with. Next time she would make sure to bring someone that would actually enjoy it with her.

However, Rose is not going to give in easily and it takes a moment more of coercing from Otis before she finally relents and begins to adjust her own charm. "When to?" Rose asks. In response Otis takes hold of her charm and inputs the correct data, only giving Rose a moment to see the date 1982 before the pair and whisked from the 18th century and into a more recent era.

Grinning from ear to ear Otis Carter drags his sister through the crowds. He doesn't attempt to speak, knowing that even shouting over the deafening sound of the music would be useless. Around the siblings the stadium full of people are cheering and singing along to the famous band, large posters pop up every so often announcing the holder's love of Mick Jagger, and so forth. By this stage in their prolific career the Rolling Stones are already a world-wide phenomenon. Rose is not the only one to bear the famous Stones' logo on her shirt.

The two siblings push their way forward, Otis’ large frame easily making room for Rose to follow. If there’s one thing she loves about her brother, it’s his ability to elbow his way through a crowd. Well, alright, perhaps there are other things that take precedence, but right now that was the top of the list. Eventually, thanks in part to Otis’ manoeuvring, the pair were within throwing distance of the famous rockers. Otis let out a loud cheer, throwing his hands up as the band started another song. Rose had to admit that this was perhaps slightly more pleasurable to an opera, not that she would ever admit as much to Otis.

The band played song after song, thrilling the audience. The Carter siblings danced in the middle of the mosh pit, Otis attempting to belt out the songs louder than anyone else around him. He also wasn't particularly careful with his dancing, which resulted in numerous accidental pushes of the man in front of him. It was after the fifth such accidental push that the large man in front of the pair turned around, glaring at Otis.
"Oi, back off mate." He shouts, attempting to push Otis back to emphasis his point. However, he finds Otis a tougher match than he originally thought as Otis doesn't budge. Perhaps an apology might end the disagreement there, but neither side seem likely to give in. The man still believes that Otis was pushing him, and Otis believes that man to have pushed him unprovoked.
"Try that again." Otis dares him, amusement plain in his eyes. Rose, quickly assessing the situation, jumps in before it can get out of hand.
"Otis, shut up." She says, pulling her brother back slightly, "He's sorry. Now, turn back and enjoy the show, they're about to play their last song."
The man eyeballs both Carters for a moment before finally listening to the wisdom in Rose's words and turning about. Otis opens his mouth to complain about the fun he could have had, but Rose merely holds a hand up and points to the stage where, as she predicted, the Rolling Stones, are launching into their final song for the night.

With the sound of (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction ringing in their ears the two Carters make their way into the Warren's lounge area. You're almost always guaranteed to find another breaker relaxing in the area, and now is no exception. The tight community of time-travelers was like a family and as the siblings entered the room they alternatively waved or smiled at their friends. Just as the pair had taken seats - Rose draping herself across one of the armchairs - the room's conversations quietened as their young leader made an appearance.

Not everyone in the Breakers approved of Felix Abrams' leadership. Some thought him too young and inexperience. Neither Otis nor Rose had any particular problem with him though. Although Rose privately thought that the mantel of 'Breaker Leader' should be an elected title rather than inherited, she had no qualms with him. As long as he lead fairly and well there was really no need to complain.

Felix's announcement of a new contract appears to catch everyone's attention, especially given Felix's final comment that it's a big one. Rose doesn't even need to look at Otis to know he wants in, and undoubtedly he knows without being told that she's itching to get hold of the details too. Others are also making their interest known. Sandara, a friend of both the siblings, quickly says as much before following Felix back to his office. Axel Wolff isn't far behind. Rose pulls herself to her feet and follows after Sandara, catching up with the other girl quickly.

Otis follows behind his sister and enters Felix's office in time to hear Axel mentioning joining the proud ranks of statues decorating the sea floor and asking for the contract. Most breakers had at least one ancestor among the stone army. Three generations of Otis and Rose's mother's family, the Blackwells were remembered there, and both Rose and Otis assumed that one day their likeness would join the ranks.

"Hold you horses hot-shot." Otis says to Axel, clapping the other man lightly on the shoulder as he moves to stand beside him, "Someone else might want a crack at it." Otis turns dark blue eyes on Felix and, with his hands placed casually in his jean pockets says, "So boss, who are the targets?"

Despite what many might think she and her brother do not usually work together, or if they do it's only slightly more than a normal breaker pair. They know how the other works and often their methods clash. Rose has always been the careful, methodical planner, while Otis is the one who rushes in head first. Now seems to be one of those situations and Rose rolls her eyes at her brother's back, but doesn't speak. She assumes that her presence in Felix's office is enough to let him know that she's interested in the contract and when the time comes she will speak up. For now she's curious to hear her brother's question answered.

With a quick tap on the shoulder from Otis, Axel found himself rolling his eyes wide. There were many things Axel hated and at the moment, Otis seemed to be doing his best to join that list. Not that Axel hated Otis -because he really didn't- he hated thunder thieves and if there was anything Axel thought Otis was good at, stealing someone' else's thunder was just scrapping that surface. Not to confuse the occasion annoyance that Axel took from Otis for hatred. On the contrary, as an only child, Axel always liked to think of Otis as the kind of brother he would have loved to have, What with their many similarities and all. Although, Axel wouldn't admit to a sibling like relationship between he and the Carters because that would mean admitting that he had absolutely no feelings towards Roselin. Though not a soul knows ofnthe way his heart beats when she's around, he wouldn't risk ruining the possibility of a relationship in the future, even though he was certain she had not a single eye for him. Axel looked back at Roselin and smiled before turning his attention back to Otis and Felix. Axel was here for business and now was not the time to be getting distracted. There was a group of people sitting just outside that door waiting to get a piece of Felix and this contract, if Axel was just a little lenient, they would all squeeze themselves in like parasites.

Much alike family, the Breakers were a competitive bunch. They were always trying to climb over their brothers shoulder to get to the higher rung on the ladder. It was never done with bad intentions among the group. They just saw everything as a challenge in which they needed to prove themselves with. This contract was no different. Especially after Felix had claimed that it was a big one. Everyone was trying to get there a fix for right now Axel was fighting for his own spot. "Listen, there are tons of capable people here that can finish this job," Axel stayed for all within ear shot to hear. There was no lie there. Every Breaker is not a Breaker by luck or charm alone. Breakers are strong. They are intelligent people who fight for what they believe is right. They practice with diligence and exquisite skill. So by all means every breaker was qualified for most any job but it's an undeniable truth that some were stronger than others. "But you know better than anyone here that some of us are just better than the rest. Capable doesn't always cut it."

It's amazing how Axel can make himself sound like the biggest asshole when defending his case. But he wasn't just defending his case, he was defending a select few. Axel new some travelers are just better than others. Sandara was an excellent traveler. He hadn't had the pleasure of working with her but he's seen her results and found her to be outstanding. Otis was another strong Breaker. He would not be opposed to working the case with either of them. But there were some he questioned. Roselin had been an incredible crush from the day he laid eyes on her but he had no clue of her work ethic, but Axel figured if she was anything like her brother, he'd like to work with her too. Family was another character that I still had no patience for. The kid had a shit past, that's for sure, but Axel always skeptical about the boy from day one. Something about him just seemed off to Axel. Axel had a bad habit of putting his foot in his mouth though and he knew one day and catch up to him. But for right now, he needed this job and he was willing to throw anyone who said in his way under the bus.

A silent fell through the room as a response from Felix was awaited. There was a fluttering and Axel's stomach and a ringing in his ears. In his gut he knew exactly who should work the case, but it wasn't up to him. It was up to this barely full grown man. He was the one that would have to decide who to send out to get this big job done. Nonetheless, Axel sucked up his complaint and let the man make his own decisions. Axel just hope that this decision would include him. He didn't want any more time to himself. Alone time did nothing but destroy Axel. He thought he was perhaps the only time traveler that ran away from time.

{ August 3rd, 1994 || River of Thames; London || 7:15am }

Just as the sun had come up, a woman fled from her house late at night and followed along the banks of the river. In her arms he held a small bundle of cloth. She scurried along the muddy path constantly checking over her shoulder to see if someone was following her. She looked scared. Across the bank, Finley stood and watched. His hands were dug deep in his pockets and his heart sank down deep into his gut. The morning was brisk, the wind beat against Finn's arms but he didn't move from his spot. The cold air almost instantly dried the tears that made its own stream down his cheek. Finley stood and watched as his birth mother hurried to a ditch close of the bank. She would soon do the unthinkable. And just a moment later there it was, the final moment of a mothers care. The ending of a relationship that never was. The woman bent down after double checking her surroundings and plopped the bundle into the shallow burrow in the ground. She soon was gone faster than she arrived.

Finley stood for a moment in shock. He'd seen this moment several dozen times but it still stuns him that the woman who carried him for nine months and birthed him can so quickly and emotionless drop her child in a burrow on a cold morning as this without looking back. He waited for her to be out od sight and fiddled with his ring, teleporting to the child's side. Finn had a great urge to pick up the child and drop him off at the nearest shelter or house but he knew that he'd alter the present if he did. It hurt him deeply to stare at his infant self wailing from the hole in the ground. But he did. He just looked down at the child until it hurt too much and then turned away. He wiped the tears from his eyes and took a deep breath. "You'll be okay little one," Finn whispered over his shoulder before turning his ring on his finger.

{Present || The Temple Bar || Eight O'clock }

A tug on the door and a jingle of the bell let the bar keep, Harold, know someone was here. Finley walked in with his head down and sat at the bar, Harold turned to tend to Finn just as the boy was sitting down. Harold knew of the travelers, just as every bar keep before him had. Finley felt as though this man was the only who truly listened to him and often disclosed to him the recent news and his personal matter. "What's the word, kid?" Harold said in his raspy but cheerful voice. "Just the regular Harry, please." Finley gloomfully cried.
"It's a tad early to be drink, isn't it boyo?"
Finley looked up at Harold and shrugged. He was depressed, and visiting the scene he did today only makes matters worse for him but Finley never knew how to walk away. Instead he always dug himself deeper into holes. "Doesn't really matter Harry, might as well start early. It'll all hurt the same later."
Harold chuckled his hardy chuckle and put a whiskey glass down on the counter. "I know it's rough kiddo but you made it. Just remember that. You can only get better." Harold picked up a canister from under the counter and poured a cranberry juice for Finley. "It's too early for whiskey. Even I know that," Harold smiled when Finley gave him a confused look. Finley gave Harold a corner smile and picked up the glass. He shot back the bit of juice and set the glass on the counter upside down before walking around the corner behind the bar into the storage closet. On the lowest shelf, Finn tugged on a red book that opened up to the Stretchers lair. He walked into solidarity. He plopped himself down on the couch and stared at the ceiling until his eyes shut and his mind wandered.

{ Present || The Warren || 11:35 }

When Finley woke up, he was lying in his dorm in The Warren. Finn stared at his surroundings like he had never seen this place before. He rubbed on his eyes until he saw stars and then opened them, blinking a few times. Finn though he must have rolled over on his ring and it teleported him to his room while he slept. He stretched out his arms and yawned loudly before getting up and make his way down the halls to the living room where the other Breakers were muttering to each other about some big news. "What's going on?" Finley asked loudly hoping someone would notice him and fill him in.

{ Present || The Warren || 11:40 pm }

The silence was deafening. About eight minutes had passed, and still no one had stampeded into his office. However, once the clock struck 11:39, Felix could sense the silent footsteps of the figure behind him. Using his peripheral vision, he made out the distinct dark-colored hair and plastered scowl of Axel Wolff. He stood next to him in the same stoic fashion, observing the statues and barely making a sound. Felix quickly glanced at him, and then returned his gaze to the underwater sculpture of his father. There had always been distance between him and Axel. Felix could never tell if Wolff truly distrusted his leadership, or if he was just putting on a subtle facade of objection. He had never let people's opinions of him get to his head. He knew what his father had signed him up for. Still, he always kept a watchful eye on Axel's allegiance, his whereabouts, and his words. To put it simply, there was something fishy about him...

“Your father was a great man.” he said, obliterating the tension between the two. Felix remained silent and unchanged in position. “I hope to one day only join him out there in that garden with my ancestors as well.” Now he felt Axel's eyes on him. “I wish to fulfill this contract sir. It’d be my pleasure.”

Felix noiselessly turned his head, locking his hawk-like eyes with Wolff's. However, before he could say a word in reply, a booming voice joined their conversation. "Hold you horses hot-shot." said Otis, Roselin not to far behind him. "Someone else might want a crack at it." The tips of Felix's lips curled upwards into something that could pass as a small smile. The distinct humor of the Carters never ceased to amuse him. Their golden hair, as well as their vibrant, charming personalities brought light into the darkness of the Warren.

Otis's presence made Axel roll his eyes. Out of the corner of his own eyes, Felix noticed Sandara Barnett towards the back of the room. If there was anyone he was expecting to see at this moment, it was her. "So boss," Otis said, his hands placed casually in his jean pockets, "who are the targets?" Felix opened his mouth to answer, but was interrupted by Axel. "Listen, there are tons of capable people here that can finish this job." he argued, "But you know better than anyone here that some of us are just better than the rest. Capable doesn't always cut it."

"Yes, capable doesn't always cut it," Felix irritably shot back, "Especially when the power of your enemy is unknown to you. Then you fall prey to ignorance." He glared at Axel for a few moments, and then briskly prowled over to his desk. Still standing, he leaned forward over the sleek, black surface, and began to speak.

"Listen up," he projected, addressing everyone with individual glances. "When I said before that this contract was a 'big one', I meant it in a plethora of ways. As you already know, three targets have been specified in the contract. The client is willing to pay twenty-thousand pounds for each one dead." he said, his eyes turning darker, "So in total, that comes out to sixty-thousand pounds." he stopped momentarily, letting his words sink in. "To put it simply, that's a lot of money, and it's more than any contract the Breakers have had so far."

He grabbed the piece of parchment on his desk, and glanced downwards while continuing to speak. "Now to answer your question, Otis...I've done research on these targets, and they're not nearly the rag-tag sort of crooks we've all dealt with in the past." he rolled his head on his shoulders, glancing at him with a mirthless smirk. "No, these are homicidal psychopaths with extraordinary criminal records that have surpassed anything I've ever seen in my entire life." He looked downwards again, giving some sort of inaudible sigh. He knew there was going to be resentment upon what he was about to say next.

"Now, it's strange for a client to want one person dead, but three? It's intriguing. We can assume that there's a connection between these targets. Of course, our client could just have anger issues and wants all three of them assassinated for whatever offense they've committed in the past, but it seems somewhat unlikely. If there is a connection between them, I don't want anyone outnumbered in the heat of a situation. I know you're all capable of going above and beyond the call of duty, but some of these targets have killed more men than you. Some of them have killed more legends than you...It's not that I don't want to take risks, it's just that I want to go about this strategically and with caution. So I'd like to put everyone in groups of two while searching for these madmen. That way, while you're focused on one of them, another won't have the opportunity to stab you in the back." He continued before anyone could say anthing, "Plus, it's a large amount of money as it is. If there are six of you undertaking this, you'd each get ten-thousand pounds once the targets are all dead."

He sauntered in front of his desk, holding out his hand for everyone to see. On his ring finger, shining a mesmerizing shade of emerald green, was the famous charm that had belonged to every Breaker that had fallen into a leadership position. It was known as Death's Mirror, and it was one of the most powerful time-travelling devices in the world. "Now, to show you all who you'll be up against..."

Almost immediately, a hologram-like image of a long-haired man projected from out of the emerald ring. The man was displaying a condescending smirk - as though he knew everything there was to know about everyone, and was unafraid to use his knowledge for destructive blackmailing purposes. "Asmodeus Blakely. Twenty-six years old. Known for his intelligence, cunning, and psychopathic behavior. If you've ever heard of the legend of 'Jack the Ripper', this is him right here. One of his well-guarded secrets. He has been known for his homicidal rampage, having killed over a dozen women during the Victorian age." Felix then gave a smirk, "Plus, I hear he's got a thing for classical music."

Asmodeus's face suddenly faded into that of a beautiful blonde-haired woman. "Ondine Caudill. Twenty-four years of age. On the Scotland Yard's most wanted list for various accounts of murder and theft...Apparently, she's pretty handy with a knife. Cruel, calculating...she's dangerous. You all get the idea."

The last face was that of a greasy-looking young man. His face and hair seemed chiseled and organized, but his eyes crackled with mischief. "Last but not least, a man by the name of Frank Floyd. I couldn't find much on him...probably because he's using an alias. However, I did manage to discover a few things about him. Like Asmodeus, he's a psychopath. Apparently, someone saw him jump right in front of a train last year for reasons unknown, although witnesses claim that he was trying to hijack it. Unlike the other two, he doesn't have any wits. But what he lacks in brains he makes for up in balls. According to our good friends, the Watchers," he gave a fake smile, "he's escaped their custody five times. Murderer, gambler, and smuggler, he's really the whole package"

Frank's face faded out, and Felix leaned back on his desk, his arms crossed just below his chest. "And those are our targets, all of them time-travelers, just like us."

{ Sometime in the past || Somewhere in Italy || Approximately Noon }

"Is this exciting or what?!" Lucius yelled at the top of his lungs. He was standing atop a building, facing a man in a formal bartender suit, who looked like he had just ran a marathon. The shirt suit he wore was soaked in his sweat, and he looked breathless and ready to collapse. The wind was blowing so violently Lucius could barely hear himself.

The man took a moment, gathering his wits. The wind was howling loudly, and annoyingly, Lucius could barely hear the man speak in a language he recognized but didn't speak, italian. "Senti ragazzo, non voglio giocare ad uno dei vostri giochi stupidi, così appena mi restituire la bottiglia di vino e io non vi darò guai con la polizia."

"Why didn't you call the police yet? Oh right, these times, they aren't reliable are they? Well anyways," Lucius walked towards the man who stood nearly a foot taller than him, who looked ready to fight. In his face, Lucius tiptoed to get on the same height as the man, "No habalo espanol."

The man sputtered and stared down at him, "But even if we don't speak the same language, you're pretty cute, what you say, we enjoy this wine together?"

The man responded in a way any normal human being to a thief would. It should have been ages ago since he responded that way, but Lucius was out running him the entire time, and it was the first time they had come face to face. The man proceeded to throw the most common and boring right hook punch. It was inches away from his face, Lucius didn't expect the man to actually be good at fighting. But thinking about it, he was probably a bartender, and bars did have fights. And if it was a time where police weren't reliable, it was only understandable that the bartender himself had to take care of drunken fiascos.

Lucius barely avoided the punch, widening his eyes in surprise. He backed away, the bartender proceeding towards him at a very fast rate. How long has it been since he teleported to this random location that was specified to be a city, and a random time where the city had a lot of people? Did he arrive today or yesterday? His time frame for thinking was running out, as he neared closer and closer to the edge of the building's roof.

Lucius began reaching for his pocket, as the man approached, feeling the familiar silver tool of a lighter. Pulling it out, the man finally backed him to the edge of the roof, where only a small ledge was keeping him from falling. And so he did. He fell backwards towards the ground, his back approaching the ground at an extraordinary rate. His thumb flicked the lighter only once, the flame appearing and disappearing. The last thing he saw before losing consciousness was the man, overlooking his falling body.

{ Present || The Temple Bar || 11:45 }

Lucius was lying on the ground, dazed. He realized how damn lucky he was that it was actually that it hadn't been the day of, rather the day before that he teleported to the middle if Italy. It was also damn lucky that he teleported to the secret location rather than in the middle of the bar where he had asked it to. The wall was decorated with a giant, stolen, random Chinese painting. He was proud to claim it as his own, but never actually took it from the artist himself, he stole it from the thief who stole it. It wasn't even that valuable, but if he hadn't taken it, it would have sunk with the ship of the people who had stolen it, on their way to Taiwan.

"So Lucius, how long are you going to lay on the ground for, you've got to meet a pretty lady and talk over some wine," he told himself. But his head was aching, it was like the motion sickness he got from time travelling. It didn't usually happen that way, but he had demanded a very quick split second teleport, where it normally took at least a full second.

"Wait, let me cool my head for a moment..." Lucius laid on the ground for just a bit longer, suddenly aware of the bag with the green glass bottle next to him.

{Present || London, England || 11:30am}

In some busy corner of London, the crowds become thicker as those who work in the area descend into the streets hunting out a bite to eat. There are enough people walking any given sidewalk that it might be difficult to immediately spot a person, unless they had some sort of very distinguishing feature, such as brightly colored hair or a large birthmark on their face. One could easily walk right past a person whom they have known for years, and not even realize their presence. Everyone has the potential to be Mr. Cellophane, should no one be on the lookout for them. This is certainly the face for one young woman with brown hair, brown eyes, and a very unimpressive outfit of jeans, a longsleeved black shirt, and a tan overcoat. Of course, had anyone glanced at her only moments ago, they might have been inclined to look twice. After all, before stepping out of the alleyway a few minutes prior, the young woman had been wearing an outfit that would seem more at home in a Jane Austen film than in present-day London.

Very few, if any at all, had bothered to peer down an alleyway in time to spot her sudden appearance. Fewer still had watched her change --with impressive speed-- into the very typical clothing she now wears. The young woman has become something of an expert in the way of quick changes, over the past few years. This is probably because her charm, her time traveling device, fails to dress her in period appropriate-clothing whenever she arrives in a new era. This leaves her needing to change as quickly as possible, so as not to draw attention to herself. As far as she is concerned, the greatest skill anyone involved in time travel can have is that of blending in. It wouldn't do to cause a scene, especially when one has traveled back for the purpose of committing a rather frowned-upon crime: murder. Perhaps assassination sounds a tad better, though it holds the same meaning.

The point is, Avis Starling is very good at getting in and out of clothing at great speeds. It's a necessary skill for her work, after all, and she is rather devoted to being good at what she does.

Devotion doesn't stop her from often failing to appear at both the right place and the right time, however. It isn't uncommon for Avis to have to make teleporting and time traveling separate tasks, one coming before the other, as her charm often will mess that up a bit as well. Perhaps this is because it was not hers to begin with, and its previous owner has a less than pleasant place in the heart of its current wielder. The watch is of great importance to Avis, of course. It represents a time which had an overwhelming influence on who she is as a person. It represents her time with WINGS. But so do the scars on her back, and yet she does not wear those openly. The watch is the only momento which she can really bear to look at, because it has come to represent her new reality.

This new reality is her place with the Breakers. She should be with them at the moment, really, and will likely be shortly. With this destination in mind, the young woman pops into another empty alley --and disappears.

{Present || The Warren || 11:38}

She reappears in the hallway outside of the livingroom, and looking in finds that it is surprisingly empty. One person looks over, and acknowledges her with a smile. They stand up and walk over to greet her. "Avis! Welcome back --that mission was longer than expected, was it?"

The woman smiles in response, with half of her mouth, and shrugs, "A bit. Is Felix around?"
She wants to check in, let the leader know that she's returned. Formalities, before she might find something to eat. Her stomach has entered that state of gnawing hunger, and Avis is having difficulty recalling the last time she's eaten. She doesn't receive an answer from the person she's speaking to --the words of another suffice in filling her in, though they are meant to fill in Finley.

"Felix just introduced a new contract. It's supposed to be a big one --requiring more than one breaker. He's in his office, if you're interested," one of the Breakers, a 20-something with short black hair, informs him. Her question having been answered, though not intentionally, Avis says goodbye to the person before her and heads to Felix's office to confirm the completion of the contract she'd accepted over a week ago.

When she arrives at his door, she sees the office is already occupied. The woman knocks four times.

{ Present || The Warren || 11:40 am }

Sandara listened carefully, making mental notes in her head already. Her ankle was tingling which she always thought was a sign of a good mission and usually her ankle was right regardless of how silly it may sound. Her eyes focussed closely on the three targets all who were interesting especially the 'Jack the Ripper' case which obviously most people had heard about. As she began to chew on her bottom lip the thought of pairing up seemed appropriate especially considering the money on this mission was beyond her imagination. Her gaze left the projection only for a moment to looked over at Felix who was doing well as the leader. It seemed that he was very much like marmite as you either liked him or disliked him though in this situation she found it slightly unfair for the young leader to already have negative critics.

Without a mere second more she returned her attention back to the projection, her fingers finding their way to her necklace which was also her charm. If her mother was alive she'd probably blow up from the amount of money resting on this mission as well as rush in head first in trying to complete it without even a plan. No wonder she got killed. It seemed like everyone had to be careful otherwise who knows what would happen, rather than killing the targets they may even be a chance that you could be killed. Something which Sandara was not yet ready for.

While Felix finished off with his last sentence Sandara nodded ever so slightly as to say 'I get it' except if he saw it or not was a whole different question. From the corner of her eyes she saw everyone also looking quite interested which was understandable. Something that she hated was not having a mission. It occurred to her that it only made Sandara happy when she was constantly carrying out mission but all very efficiently and with precision. As a perfectionist it wasn't a surprise that she carried them out without any faults or lose ends and this mission seemed to suit her quite well, though with the help of a partner it could be achieved in a faster amount of time but as well as cause less problems.

The question was who should she partner up with or who would want her as a partner was a better one. It was all very well picking a breaker but if they didn't want to join her then that would be quite troublesome. From the people who were here they all had their individual strengths as well as weaknesses. Partnership meant that their weaknesses would be covered by the other person.

The Carter siblings were a good choice as Sandara knew them very well seeing as they were friends. Otis was impulsive and had the tendency to jump into situations without really thinking about it however his charming and quick talker characteristics help him out and perhaps they'd be well balanced. But then again she has worked with Rose before and their teamwork has shown very good results. Both of their personalities matched well so she could be a good option. She looked over at Axel and though she didn't know him too well they both were perfectionist which could be a start.

Sighing gently Sandara decided it would be best if she simply waited a bit, the mission was huge and there was no room for mistakes or mishap. Before she could speak a knock on the door brought her back to reality and out of her thoughts.

{ Present || Fletcher Mansion || 11:40 am }

Wearing a red leather jacket, an old Flash Gordon t-shirt and wine-colored Chuck Taylors was a young man sitting on the rooftop of the Fletcher mansion. He swung his feet back and forth while they dangled off of the edge. A small, lime-green radio sat beside him, playing "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell.

"Just call my name, I'll be there in a hurry, you don't have to worry...'Cause baby there AIN'T NO MOUNTAIN HIIIIIGH ENOUGH," Frank foolishly sang in a high octave, "AIN'T NO VALLEY LOOOOOW ENOUGH. AIN'T NO RIVA' WIIIIDE ENOUGH TO KEEP ME FROM GETTIN' TO YOU BABE..."

Now that he had a radio for a charm, singing on top of the Fletcher Mansion became an everyday occurrence. There was a piece of pink 'Hello Kitty' notebook paper in his hands, which he scribbled on using a maroon-colored crayon. He was making a list. It wasn't any ordinary list - it was an important list that would be shown to all of the Changers. Ultimately, it was a list that would determine their organization's fate.

Suddenly, a beep from the watch on his wrist made him drop the crayon, and come to a stop. A wild smile appeared on his face. "WELL IT'S ABOUT FREAKING TIME." he said as if speaking to someone, "Hopefully this works..."

His put one index finger in both of his earlobes, and stared at a tree over to the right side of the house. "Three...two...one...FIRE IN THE HOOOOOLE!!!" In that instant, a storm of grass and dirt flew up into the air, and Frank's giddy laughter could barely be heard over the sound of the explosion.

Jude Fletcher wasn't the only one who had to keep charm dust. When Franklin Dragonelli broke his charm in order for one part of Fletcher's plan to be completed, the psychopathic twenty something-year-old made sure to keep a few tiny specks of dust for himself. He had planted the dust inside makeshift bombs, and had just tested one out on the unsuspecting groundhog that had eaten the plants in Jude's garden for a week. Now that he knew that they worked, it was time to start his mission.

He crumpled up the list and put it inside of one of his leather jacket's pockets. He then grabbed his radio, leaving the box of crayons behind as he climbed down the house. He stopped by one of the windows, seeing Ondine nearby. He swung his legs forward, shattering the glass, and flying through the gap he had just created. "Hello Ondie." he said in a suave tone that mocked elegance. "Woops." he quickly turned his head around, surveying the wreckage he had just created. Even though he stared at it for a few seconds, the damage didn't seem to phase him.

"Okay," he began, unfolding the list from his pocket. "Read this, and get the items on it. It's for the Changer King." He then handed her the pink Hello Kitty paper, and ran off before she got the chance to ask him any questions. That was Frank's nature - always allowing himself to be vague whenever the opportunity arose.

"Hey Jack-ass," he said to his friend Asmodeus when he passed him by. A mix of 'Jack the Ripper' and his own name, Asmodeus's genocidal-maniac status allowed Frank to call him by the vulgar nickname. "I'm going out. Make sure to read the list I gave Ondie. It's muy importante..."

With a utility belt on his waist and a knapsack over his left shoulder, Frank headed outside to the front of the house. Suddenly, he saw a figure slinking in the shadows over to his left. "DAMN IT." he cursed, seeing that the groundhog he had just attempted to kill was miraculously still alive. He sighed, pressed one of the buttons on his portable radio, and closed his eyes.

Attire

When he opened them, Frank come across a grand masquerade being held right in the center of the square. There were lanterns shining over his head, and dozens of costumed lords and ladies dancing to the charming melodies of the music. Irritatingly, Frank ripped off the black mask that covered his eyes. He found masquerades pointless. What was putting a mask over your face going to do to conceal your identity? It certainly wasn't going to help the man Frank was pursuing.

He knew his target was here, he just wasn't sure where to find him. Suddenly, he stopped, pulling out a piece of parchment from his knapsack. He held up the piece of paper to the small man he was inspecting, and smiled once he realized it was the guy he was looking for.

"Hello there" he said to his victim, who he had managed to trap in a dark alleyway, a dagger against his throat. "Let's skip the formalities minor Harry Potter character...I want to make this quick."
The man raised his brow. "What?"
"Listen, you've made something that I need. It's granted you eternal life, and it's one of the greatest creations mankind has ever known."
"Why thank you."
"Now, I need to know where it is," Frank rested the dagger on the man's belly, "or I'll slit you up one side and down the other so that you can watch your own stomach drop to the ground below."

The two locked eyes at each other for a while, making Frank impatient. "Well, if you're not going to tell me...
He rammed the man into the wall, raising his dagger and aiming for his chest. "Wait, wait! At least let me say something..." the gray-haired man stuttered in fear, "All I'm going to tell you is this: I gave it to a group of individuals who are known for their collection of things. Some call them thieves, I call them vigilantes."
Frank smirked and chuckled. "And you know what I call them?" he said, "Assholes."

Frank then scratched Nicholas Flamel's stomach with his blade, making him yell and grunt in pain. A group of men instinctively came over to question his actions, but they were blown into the air once Frank dropped the tiny bombs he had hanging on his belt. Not only did they create tiny explosions, but they also sent out blue smoke. It made people cough like crazy, and it allowed Frank to make his getaway. He hoped he wouldn't feel nostalgia over his next destination.

{ Present || The Temple Bar || 11:45 }

Frank entered the bar casually, not worrying about anything he'd have to face up ahead. Frank remembered this crowded bar from his Stretcher days. Nothing had changed - not even the old bookcase in the storage room that guarded the secret entrance to the apartment upstairs. He crouched down beside it, pulling the red book towards the bottom shelf, and shook his head as he watched the bookcase slide away, revealing the spiral staircase.

Once he got upstairs, Frank frantically searched the apartment for the item he needed - the Stone of Philosophers. "Yoohoo..." he called out, knocking over books, pots pans...anything that got in his way. He was creating a mess, and it wouldn't be too long until he broke something. He entered another room, checking every crevice and corner for the red glittering gem he desired. Of course, he didn't see Lucius Daniel Evans laying on the ground beside him.

{Present || Castle Aetas || 11:45 am }

When Beatrice's leg had caught with hers, Sadie lost her balance, and caught herself on the wall before her knees reached the floor. She laughed. "Trying to kill me, Bee?" Sadie smiled, gently nudging Beatrice in the shoulder to signify that everything was okay. She kept herself close to her friend, and continued to hike down the long castle corridor. "So Beatrice, tell me where you went. I'm curious." She listened to everything her fellow Watcher had to say. Once she was sure Beatrice was done speaking, Sadie began to tell her something that she had been wanting to tell her all day. "So at breakfast this morning, I overheard a couple of people talking about who's going to take over now that Artemis is gone." She kept trudging forward, approaching the castle breezeway. "Apparently, it's going to be a whole voting-thing. Like, we'll have to nominate people, and then we choose one of the people who's nominated...I have no idea when or where the voting is going to take place, but whateverr it is, I hope it doesn't get crazy. I just don't want it to be like parliament, if you know what I mean..."

Sadie came to a stop. Beside her was a dark brown door that seemed to contrast with the other chestnut-colored doors nearby. Behind the door lied Artemis Fletcher's abandoned office. She slowly turned the knob and opened it, revealing a small yet spacious room. It was completely illuminated by the natural light that poured in through the windows towards the back. " I was ordered to clean this place out, and put everything that isn't a shelf or a desk into the storage room." She laughed. "To be honest, I didn't even know we had a storage room." she said, "I thought this was the storage room."

She invited Beatrice inside the office. Perhaps they could find some interesting things lining the walls or hiding underneath the desk. Out of the corner of her eye, Sadie could spot cardboard boxes lining one of the walls. Clearly, someone had already done part of her job for her. She grabbed one, and began placing the dusty, ancient books inside. She chuckled once she came across one with a navy blue cover. The title read "The Art of Dance: Moving And Shaking From the Stone Age To the Modern World". The book was published in 1989. "Here, Bee," she giggled, holding out the book for Beatrice to see, "This one's for you." Sadie then placed it on Artemis's desk, and got back to work cleaning the shelf in front of her.

Sadie sighed. "I still can't believe she's gone..." Brushing her hand against the side of the bookshelf, she stared blankly at the covers. Every one she gazed upon triggered a memory she had with Artemis. "I remember when I first came here...I was sixteen and so confused...she helped me so much. Helped me sort out my problems, inspired me to do something about them...she was irreplaceable. In a way, I thought she'd never die."

For a few moments, Sadie just leaned on the bookshelf, staring out the window, listening for Beatrice to say something. And then suddenly, a peculiar little object on Artemis's desk brought her back to reality. Whatever it was, it was glowing a bright red color, and making some sort of high-pitched alarm sound. Sadie approached it, observing that it was a tiny crystal ball. It almost looked like a snowglobe. "Disruption in the time stream," she said, reading the words that appeared inside the glass object, "July 30th, 1478, Florence, Italy. 8 o'clock pm." She turned towards Beatrice, a confused yet stunned look on her face. "Do you think this is how Artemis knew what orders to give us?" She stared at the object for a few more moments. "Y'know what, we should probably get moving. If we don't do something soon, bad things could happen. I'm gonna go grab some stuff real quickly. If you want to come along, Bee, meet me back in here when you're ready."

With that, Sadie quickly ran out of the office, heading towards the direction of her room.

{ Present || The Temple Bar || 11:45 }

Lucius was actually beginning to enjoy the comfort of hugging the floor. The quiet in the old room was nice, and the wooden floor was cool. His headache had dissipated moments ago, leaving everything much clearer, but he felt much too lethargic to actually doing anything. But before he could actually decide whether or not he wanted to get up, the doorway opened, and he heard footsteps coming from a different room. "Yoohoo," he heard in the distance, and tons of clattering.

What on earth was this guy up to?

The footsteps gradually neared the room, until the person actually was inside the room. They proceeded to look about the walls for god knows what. For a moment, the figure seemed much to busy to pay attention to Lucius, but Lucius realized it was more than that. The person didn't even notice him.

"Seriously, how dull do you have to be to not notice me lying dead center of the floor?" Lucius pulled himself up using a nearby shelf, dusting himself off. He rolled his neck about, than twisting his back, letting the many satisfactory cracks fill the silence.

The figure in front of him was taller than him, with slick black hair. The unfamiliar face somewhat shocked him for a moment. But it seemed to work out perfectly. Someone to enjoy wine with, why not this pretty boy?

"Hey I haven't ever seen you around, are you new here...?" Lucius began, a sly smirk on his face, about to continue with some cheesy pick up line he thought of, than decided against it. Instead, he proceeded to pull out a bottle of wine, "No matter, however, you must sit and enjoy a glass of wine with me now that you're here. I did need someone to drink it with me, I'd feel bad if I drank it all myself."

Frank's search for the stone came to a halt when he noticed a silhouette arise behind him. He drew one of his daggers, pointing it at the black-haired man. He rolled his eyes. If this guy thought he'd be able to stop him, he was shitting himself over.

"Seriously, how dull do you have to be to not notice me lying dead center of the floor?"
"Seriously, Johnny Depp," Frank retorted, "how dull do you have to be to just lie in the middle of the floor? Like, use a goddamn chair or something..."

"Hey I haven't ever seen you around, are you new here...?" said the man after filling the silence with cracking sounds that came from his back and neck. Frank lowered his brows, and tightened the grip on his dagger. Whatever this guy was up to, it was really fishy. And Frank knew the definition of fishy. Suddenly, the man pulled out a large bottle of wine. Frank came a bit closer, his eyes wide, and his hands ready to strike.

"No matter," he said, "however, you must sit and enjoy a glass of wine with me now that you're here. I did need someone to drink it with me, I'd feel bad if I drank it all myself."

Who was this guy, the Mad Hatter? Only instead of tea, he offered wine...
Frank looked the guy right in the eyes, then stared at the bottle, then looked at the guy again. A few seconds passed, and then all of a sudden, he shrugged.
"Meh...What the hell. Didn't eat lunch yet anyway."

He then quickly sheathed his dagger, and walked past the man into the kitchen. He put his belt on the counter, and removed the six tiny balls of metal that had been slung onto it. "Don't touch these," he said to Lucius, "They're bombs." Frank proceeded to the fridge, and gazed upon his options for lunch. He discovered a box of Chinese food right in the front, and opened it to find frozen lo mein inside. He nodded, found a bowl, and dumped the whole box into it. Since it was frozen, the lo mein came out in a cube-like format. He then put the bowl in the microwave, and set the timer for three minutes.

Frank sat on a stool near the counter, placing his knapsack on it as well. "To answer your question, fancy-pants," he said, "I'm actually not new here. I'm old. I got kicked out of your little club, and now I've been replaced by a bunch of new people. So I guess you can say I'm...vintage."

He took out a pack of cigarettes from his jacket, and put one of them in his mouth. "Gotta lighter, fella? I need to smoke this bitch up."

The part about the stranger that made him mildly nervous, was the part where he took out his dagger. But anyone would drink to that, right? He wasn't completely sure, but waited for the response which came out much more lighthearted than expected. "Meh, what the hell. Didn't eat lunch anyways,"

Frank proceeded towards the kitchen after sheathing his dagger, comfortingly, as Lucius followed him. He told Lucius not to touch the bombs stuck to his belt. It was at that point Lucius wondered who the stranger was. Lucius grabbed two wine glasses from the pantry, washing off the accumulated dust, and drying them off. Lucius concluded the man wasn't even part of the stretchers, judging by his near violent reaction to Lucius, but he was still making himself comfortable eating yesterday's Chinese food.

Lucius searched through the drawers for a bottle opener. He successfully found one from the disorganized drawers, and continued to open up the bottle. The stranger began speaking to Lucius as his lo mien was heating, "To answer your question, fancy-pants, I'm not actually new here. I'm old, I got kicked out of your little club and now I've been replaced by a bunch of new people. So I guess you can say, I'm... vintage."

Lucius found his choice of words interesting, but poured the wine regardless. He was probably there to steal something, which was a very stretcher move. And what Lucius had done should have been proceeded against him in combat. Problem was, Lucius only knew how to fight with one thing, and not to mention was physically weak. And so there was nothing he could do about it, other than notify someone. Who actually knew how to fight.

But first, came the wine. "Gotta lighter, fella? I need to smoke this bitch up." And apparently smoking.

If there was one thing Lucius wouldn't do, it would be handing him his charm. If there was one thing Lucius didn't know, was if there were any lighters inside of the apartment. He briefly considered lying and saying he didn't have one. But that didn't seem too great either. He pulled out his charm, and lit the cigarette for him instead. He figured it'd be awkward for the stranger, but the stranger was bold enough to accept a glass of wine. But still, Lucius avoided eye contact after doing such an awkward thing.

"Here, ya go," Lucius handed him the filled glass of wine after, "got this from Italy somewhere. It's probably aged a couple decades. I don't even know if it's that good, stole it from some bartender who was buying groceries. He didn't call guards or police or whatever was happening that time, on me, which I still find funny."

"But hey, regardless, why'd you get kicked? Hell, I don't even know your name..." Lucius sipped from the glass, still smiling, finding the wine much more tangy than he expected, not to mention it went down without too much bite. Maybe it was actually good quality wine, which was probably why the bartender ran a marathon to chase Lucius down...

And Lucius would get in trouble for not protecting whatever object this guy had in mind to steal.

{ Present || Fletcher Mansion || 11:40 am }

To say Ondine was annoyed would be an understatement; having barely eaten anything she had little to no tolerance for Frank’s antics. The said man had just jumped through the window after a rather loud explosion was set off, and she just hoped to her non-existent God that he didn’t break anything of value. After all, lavish things were meant to be relished not bombed, and if there was any one word to describe the Fletcher mansion it would be expensive.

“Hello Ondine,” he said a voice she knew he thought was charming.

“Frank,” She then added in a condescending glare to top it all off. This was exactly what her morning needed; a heavy dose of Frank and a three course meal of starvation, “Read this, and get the items on it. It's for the Changer King." She grimaced at the name ‘Changer King,’ knowing how Frank used it wasn’t vicious but rather with adoration. He was a puppy and a very loyal one at that. During the whole interaction, Asmodeus had been preparing a tea pot to boil water in, and though his hands worked in almost mechanical motions, his eyes were stuck on the mouths and lips of the other two, reading the words they were saying as "Gimme" by Beck played into his two ears.

What Frank had handed her was a piece of Hello Kitty notebook paper and a list written in crayon, his hand writing barely legible. He’s a third grader. Literally,she thought but instead said something different. “And for what reason?” but not to her surprise he was gone.

Ondine sighed softly and headed toward her original destination; the kitchen. The list could wait but her stomach could not.
Now at her endpoint she made herself cereal and sat down half paying attention to Asmodeus half reading the crumpled up list.

The Stone of Philosophers (In Stretcher possession)

The Winged Sandals of Hermes

Excalibur (In Stretcher possession)

The Book of Life (In Watcher possession)

A Golden Apple

Mjölnir

The Brísingamen

In all her life she was never more curious as to why their leader trusted him so much to do his bidding. Maybe it was because he sacrificed his charm for their cause, or he just naturally favored crazy people. Whatever it was she couldn’t help but loath him for it.

But what the leader wanted, he got.

Ondine’s attention was now on Asmodeus and silently she waved him over to look at the crumpled up sheet. But the man whom had just been so kindly been called jack-ass had ignored the whole exchange in the end and had turned away once again when Frank had vanished, his eyes stuck intently on the small cup of ramen that sat on the counter in front of him. His mind had stopped for a second- the insult had seemed to jam his mind with too much idiocy for Asmodeus's good, until a light click dragged his hands to a pot filled with boiling hot water. Pouring the boiling hot water in, Asmodeus religiously closed the opened flap back down onto the cup, picked up a plastic fork and headed towards the area at which Ondine sat in. Music at full volume, Asmodeus sat down across from Ondine, left fingers tapping on the ramen flap (to the notation of Paganini's Capriccio No.24), right hand reaching forward for the flap of paper that he had noticed Frank pass to Ondine. It interested him, to say the least, that the idiot would have handed anything of worth to Ondine, and the occurrence (and explosion outside) was enough to pique Asmodeus's interest though he was annoyed with his earlier failure back in 1888. "What is this?" He asked, raising an eyebrow at the shabby tiny piece of paper.

"A list of things we need to get apparently," she raised the spoon to her mouth and took a bite of the out-of-date corn flakes. Not wanting to swallow she made a face of disgust, before she finally decided it was sitting in her mouth for too long. 'How long have we had this for? It's disgusting.' Ondine stood up, taking the bowl of stale cereal with her and pouring it down the kitchen drain. It was a wonder how no one in this mansion has died of food poisoning. "Oh." was all that Asmodeus said as he allowed his eyes to glance down at the small list of items. But looking at the objects listed only increased Asmodeus's already bubbling annoyance. "Of course it doesn't cross his mind to give more details as to exactly where these objects are." Asmodeus snorted out as he threw the paper away, allowing it to flutter down to the ground as he dug into his now cooked ramen. "Bloody useless, that brainless dolt." He muttered as he chewed, picking up the paper beside him again to look at the items on the Hello Kitty paper more closely. Drumming his fingers against the table, Asmodeus hummed a bit as he turned his head towards Ondine, sensing the other Changer would probably say something.

"I'm thinking about retrieving the Golden Apple, it looks relatively easy,"she glanced toward Asmodeus, raising an eyebrow. "Frank can expect the fruit to be in his possession by tomorrow, or midnight." Ondine purposefully said in a taunting manner trying to get a reaction from the man in front of her. It wasn't that she wanted to get him worked up, but to see the usually solitary man express an emotion once in a while would be nice, but then again she couldn't expect too much out of a psychopath. But Ondine only received a blank expression from Asmodeus.

"I would hope that you will be able to work on your claim you just set down, then." He said, finishing up his small cup of ramen before getting up and throwing it in the trash can. Asmodeus could tell, slightly, that Ondine had probably said the last sentence as a means of taunting him into action- but without actually hearing her voice, it was hard to say if he had deciphered right or not. "Well, then. Frankly, I have no bloody interest in whatever that dolt is doing, so I'll be on my way back to Victorian England to finish a job." The music in his earphones slowly started to die down as the last song came to a stop.

“You should get started too, Jude wouldn’t be too happy seeing you fall behind the rest of us. Maybe you should try and find the Mjölnir," She snickered at the thought of him being worthy, although she had no place to talk seeing as to she was in the same exact position as him. It sickened her how she had the use their leaders name as if he were an actual leader when at best he was a dictator. Ondine grabbed the paper from Asmodeus and searched for a pencil, striking out the item 'A Golden Apple.' It was a cocky move from her part, but did she regret it? The obvious answer was no. As much as she hated following her leader's orders she couldn't very well deny them either. In a way she was helping Asmodeus not get in trouble with Jude. Asmodeus's eyes flashed at her comment as his music started up once again. "Falling behind." The words lingered in the air as Asmodeus glared at Ondine, eyes filled with a searing anger mixed in with a certain madness that no one would ever mistake. "Jude wouldn't be happy seeing me fall behind the rest of you...?" The words rolled off of his lips as his eyes flickered between Ondine's lips to her eyes then down to the knife rack that lay on the counter beside him.

A second later, Asmodeus's laughter filled the room- a dark chilling laugh that spread throughout the kitchen. "Well, I'd love to be instructed in exactly how I shouldn't disappoint Jude Fletcher, Ms. Caudill." Sticking his hands in his pocket, he walked up to the other Changer, the taunting look that had been in her eyes reflected back in his own. "With my presence there, I would suppose that the probability of you failing and going against your word will be much lower, shall it not? Let's kill two birds with one stone. I'll go, you instruct." He leaned forward a small smile on his face, "But I would suggest you to keep a look on your back." Asmodeus took a step back, a large grin on his face as he looked at Ondine. "Your choice."

Ondine knew he was mad, utterly deranged and sick in the head, but maybe that's why she didn't want to cower before him. When he leaned forward she didn't take a step back nor did she go any further. She gave him a cruel smile and responded in turn.”I wouldn't have it any other way.” With that she left the kitchen and beckoned him to follow. If he was willing to follow she would direct, it was only natural. ”Asmodeus, do you know anything about the Golden Apple?" of course she wasn't expecting him to, but surprises do come from somewhere.

{ Unknown|| Cyrene, Libya || 9:00 pm }

But Asmodeus did not say anything as he walked up and grabbed Ondine's arm. Another step later, he was dragging her through time and space, plunging both of them into a pitch darkness that seemed to extend through all of eternity. But in due time, their feet hit the ground as a bright sunlight shined down on the two of them with a powerful vengeance. "It should be here." Asmodeus said, shifting uncomfortably in the toga that had been substituted with his own outfit earlier, grimacing at the scratchy cloth. Raising an eyebrow at Ondine's still casually twenty-first century styled clothing, Asmodeus let out a long sigh as he shifted the violin case on his back to a more comfortable position. "Let's first find you some damned clothes and something to hide my violin."

Ondine nodded and looked around, noticing one or two people outside wherever the Hell they were. It was at times like these that she truly hated the fact that her charm wasn't really hers, but she couldn't help but stifle a laugh at her companion. He looked ridiculous with his violin case on his back, earphones dangling from his ears, and all while wearing a toga. "Nice dress, you should wear it more often," and before he could say anything she ran in the direction of a woman with a basket in her hands. Ondine could only softly chuckle at the woman's soon to be fate.

Silent and efficient Ondine kicked the woman in the stomach and then wrapped her right arm around her throat, her left over the woman's mouth as to muffle the screaming. Her death happened in a matter of seconds and to say Ondine was guilty would be a lie. It felt good to play God once in a while; control over everyone's fate was simply to die for. Not wanting to leave the body in the middle of the street she dragged it to a nearby building and then stripped off her clothing. Ondine then turned a corner as to gain more privacy and started to undress and then redress herself in the span of a minute or two. She hadn't accounted for the sudden time travel so the bag she usually kept her clothing in was not with her, thus forcing her to leave behind her modern day attire. She then returned to Asmodeus with a glare that silenced many of her old victims.

Knowing the bastard was listening to music she leaned up towards him and pulled out an earbud."If I ever work with you again, you will tell me when you're going to time travel,"She made sure the steel in her voice was apparent before calming herself down- though her only response was a nonchalant look and a tug on his earphones to take them back. "Now let's find you something for your violin."

{ Present || The Warren || 11:40am }

It is no surprise to Roselin that so many Breakers are interested in the contract. The challenge issued by Felix's declaration that the contract is a big one was more than enough to catch and hold her attention. There is no point in denying that Rose can't resist a challenge. Her brother is the same and it isn't uncommon for the pair to be found competing against the other in some trivial pursuit. This contract is no exception, although it is far from trivial.

As Felix begins to explain the contract Rose tunes in, giving the young man her full attention. Her eyebrows raise as the sum for the completion of the contract is revealed. That is quite a price. Rose takes a step forward, her curiosity growing by the second. Otis, with his usual light-hearted humour, whistled at the offered funds. Of course, given the price for each target, it makes sense that they aren't your average historical nobody. Felix explains that these targets are killers and not to be taken lightly, furthermore that he expects them to work in pairs. Rose has no problem with this, she's worked with others before and she can see the sense of having someone at your back. Sandara has proved to be an enjoyable partner in the past, the two get along well and have always managed to get the job done efficiently. As for her brother, she'd rather not work with him. Their methods are polar opposites. Axel she hasn't worked with yet, but she would have no objections at all to working with the handsome man.

Otis, on the other hand, doesn't seem particularly overjoyed at the prospect of sharing the reward, or working with others. Sure, Otis is a friendly guy and he'd happily work with anyone in this room - or out of it for that matter - but where is the fun in that? He would much rather tackle one of the targets alone. However, rather than protest the partner idea he simple crosses his arms and waits for Felix to reveal the targets. He doesn't recognise any of them, but the 'Jack the Ripper' is certainly an infamous historical figure. "Why are all the good-looking ones always psychopathic murderers?" He mutters as Ondine's image flashes out of Felix's ring. The blonde is certainly eye-catching, although that doesn't mean Otis is likely to go easier on her if he's assigned to her case.

Rose rolls her eyes as she hears Otis' comment, and shakes her head at her brother. It's clear where his mind naturally goes to. Rose listens intently, stockpiling all of Felix's information in her brain. Whomever she receives as her target she will research herself, in case she can find any information Felix might have missed. She doubts that there will be much more information to find, but it always pays to be thorough. Her lips curve into a smirk as Felix mentions the Watcher's poor record of keeping Frank Floyd detained.
"Did we really expect the Watchers to be able to hold anyone for long?" She scoffs, her contempt for the rival time-travelling group obvious.

Rose doubts that anyone in the room will refuse the contract, even if working in pairs might not be everyone's cup of tea. The only question is who with who and what target. "So, are you splitting us up or can we pick our own partners?" Rose asks, directing the question to Felix. Her eyebrow arches slightly in amusement, she feels like she's waiting for the teacher at school to split students into groups for a project. Rose also notes that only five people are in the room, assuming that Felix is taking part too, which means that they are at least one short of two per target. Yet, just as she's thinking this a knock on the office door echoes through the room. No doubt this is another Breaker arriving to inquire about the contract.

If there was a surplus of anything in the Breakers it was probably attitude. Like a big family, there’s always going to be a little bit of sibling rivalry but as it turns out for Axel, it’s just a little more than that. "Yes, capable doesn't always cut it," Felix shot back at Axel, who just glared back, "Especially when the power of your enemy is unknown to you. Then you fall prey to ignorance." Axel scowled at Felix, just under his breath he muttered obscenity. As a young boy, Axel was always taught, “bite your tongue before someone rips it out for you.” So he did just that, Axel shut his mouth, clenched his jaw together so keep from saying something that would cause trouble and just listened. He crossed his arms over his chest to see if anyone else had reacted but no one did. It seemed as though Axel was alone is his aggression. Axel shot his attention back to the leader of the group when he spoke, “Listen up.” Axel wanted to punch the kid in the face but he knew better than to ruin his chances of being a future leader or whatever else.

Axel listened quietly as Felix began speaking about the sums of the job. As Felix broke down the numbers and the payments, Axel’s eyes widened. It was an outstanding job and he’s not quite sure just how they came to land such a thing. Axel was curious as to who the client was that wanted these three dead. After all, it had to be a big name behind the job. Couldn’t possibly be some random ne’re do well trying to be gone with three random people. They probably weren’t random though. Not for that amount of money. It had to be some pretty big names for a sixty-thousand pound job. The curiosity inside Axel only grew. He listened closely as the holograms appeared from Felix’s charm. He watched as each face rotated in the air so that all who were paying attention would receive a 360* look of the men and women they would soon be taking care of. Tidbits of information popped up alongside each face and name giving a quick blurb that Felix added on to. First, Asmodeus “Jack the Ripper” Blakeley; Second, Ondine Caudill; and last but not least, Frank Floyd. Each one just as cunning and skilled as the next, each one just as evil as the last.

This was a big job, it would have to be done in pairs. Axel didn’t mind working in pairs, as long as his partner wasn’t completely incompetent. Axel would be an interesting character to work with. Though he was impulsive, he was certainly a perfectionist. Axel was impulsive with his ideas, as soon as any idea would spring into his head, whether logical or not, he’d then began planning for that. Scoping out every single detail to fit the mold just as it was envisioned in his mind. Axel thought of himself as a hard book to crack, but apparently he’s just a surface tickle away from spilling his guts. He needed someone who was strong willed and had a mind of their own. Someone who was capable at working with others but knew what they were doing and didn’t depend on others. He needed a genius on his side, the only problem was finding one now that wanted to work with him.

Just then, Roselin raises the very question bouncing around in his mind. It would certainly take away any stigma that Axel doesn’t have many friends if they get assigned partners, just as school, but then again Felix might partner up Axel with perhaps the worst partner in spite. After all, that’s what happens when you’re an asshole to your boss. Axel was awfully curious and anxious to get the job started, but he felt as though there was something missing. There was more to come for this job and he thought it would be best if he just waited for Felix. After all, there was no need to upset a boss who considered him to be ignorant any more than he already has. Axel wanted to join in along with Roselin and back her up on the question asked, he wanted to ask Felix what the next step was, but just then a knock on the door caused him to hold his tongue.

Finley was the runt of every group. Especially the Breakers. They saw him as nothing more than a homeless rat off the street that needs a place to live and somehow some way came across time travelling. It was nothing short of a miracle if he was included into anything. Which he never complained about, his true loyalty was to The Stretchers. He encountered the Breakers a few years ago and they gave him a room to sleep in, but he was practically invisible.

Upon being denied an explanation as to what was going on within the Breakers, Finley took his ear to a conversation between an arriving Breaker and someone else as they made their way to the door where the meeting was supposedly being held. Finley lingered until sight of her was lost and he casually made his way towards the wall, where he then stuck his ear to the wall and listened. Everyone inside was quiet, perhaps the meeting had adjourned. Nonetheless, Finley was determined to figure out what was going on. Finley was the little birdie on the street everyone always heard something about. Now it was time for him to get his beak on the street so that the rest of the Stretchers could know what was going on.

Life for Finley was always more about the money than anything else. He learned the value of the bill from a young age, which could be why he has an onset loyalty to the Stretchers. They understand his background more than any other group would. Though he was loyal to the Stretchers, it wasn’t uncommon for their members to wander between sides. Finley just so happened to be on the Breaker side. He hasn’t officially told anyone about his loyalty to the other group as most Breakers don’t trust Stretchers, but he had a feeling that Felix knew, after all, what kind of leader doesn’t do background checks? Money was a big item in Finley’s life and he’d do anything to get hands on more, and a secret like this was worth a big buck. Finley fiddled with his ring and teleported back to the Temple bar with hopes that he’d come across his leader. He knew she would want the score in this as well. A big job means a big payday and if there’s anything the Stretchers liked, it was a grand gesture, and this was certainly a grand gesture.

{ the Present || Castle Aetas || 12:00 }

“Oh, I’m so sorry!” Beatrice had said breathlessly as she had gotten up from the ground, pushing her hair out of her face as she peered at Sadie. Standing up straight beside Sadie, Beatrice felt the nudge on her shoulder but couldn’t help but allow a flush creep across her cheeks. She was clumsy- and Beatrice had been her whole life- but each time she had stumbled or tripped in front of others a life crippling shame would creep upon the Watcher. However, Sadie cut across her fumbling thoughts, “So Beatrice, tell me where you went. I’m curious.” Immediately, Beatrice’s face lit up as a large smile formed on her face, grinning a few moments before stating that she had been at the Lincoln Memorial. “It was so, so great, Sadie!” She squealed, holding onto the other Watcher’s hands as she twirled Sadie around in the corridor, her voice light and airy as she recounted the speeches that she had just listened to. “-and when he stood on the podium everything seemed to go silent. The start of his speech was so strong and the ending even more so!” Letting go of Sadie’s hands, Beatrice laughed as she flicked her hair back before tugging it forward again, braiding it though she had no hair-tie. “But I grew faint…and I couldn’t stay for too long. I wish I could go back again…” But with that, Beatrice let her hair down and shook her head before noticing the look of needing to speak on Sadie’s face. “I-I’m done.” She stuttered, her blush creeping back onto her face once again as she knew the other girl had something much more important to say.

“ "So at breakfast this morning, I overheard a couple of people talking about who's going to take over now that Artemis is gone." With that single sentence, the look on Beatrice’s face immediately turned blank as she followed along behind Sadie, not liking the topic one single bit. She had mourned with the rest when Artemis had died- and had continued to mourn afterwards. This was the woman that had taught her near anything- the distant figure that Beatrice had wished to be the parental figure in her life. But Sadie’s voice forced itself into her ears as Beatrice tried her best to block them out; she would not think about the succession of a new Watcher leader just yet. “… I just don't want it to be like parliament, if you know what I mean..." Beatrice forced herself to nod as her mood plummeted once again. As if out of reflex, Beatrice reached forward and wrapped her hands around Sadie’s, holding onto it tight as they made their way over to Artemis’s study. "I was ordered to clean this place out, and put everything that isn't a shelf or a desk into the storage room." Beatrice watched as Sadie entered the slightly dusty room, standing at the door edge as she peered in. She had not been in the study much, unlike a few other Watchers. With no intent on becoming the next leader of the Watchers- or any high ranking figure at that matter- Beatrice had constantly strayed far away from the arguments and debates that had so plagued the last few years of Artemis Fletcher’s life.

As Sadie worked her way around the study, Beatrice stood huddled in a corner, her mind already wandering away as she stared at a strange painting on the wall. A boy, a woman that looked uncannily like Artemis Fletcher. Beatrice furrowed her brow, tilting her head to a side as she wondered if the picture depicted Artemis and her nephew- but that did not matter much anymore. He hadn’t even come to her funeral. The rude offence caused a small frown to appear on Beatrice’s face as she forced her eyes to swivel away to the book case beside her. Time Traveling: A Guide to the Past. Beatrice moved on. The Gods of the Past and Their Powers. At this, Beatrice tilted her head, but what filled her mind was not thoughts on the book’s contents itself. Rather, her mind immediately floated away, her eyes glazing over as she swayed a bit to a melody that could not be heard- "Here, Bee." Beatrice jolted awake at Sadie’s voice, turning around wide-eyed as she watched her friend slide a book in her direction. "This one's for you." Picking up the book, Beatrice looked at the cover before putting it back down again, a small sad smile on her face. “Thank you, Sadie.”[/i] Beatrice said, her voice light as she allowed her finger to trace the outline of a dancing woman on the cover. [b]“But I cannot take something from Artemis.”
It was hard for Beatrice to believe that the woman the Watchers had followed- the strong, powerful woman- had been killed all too suddenly. For nothing. It was hard to believe she was gone; the sentiment plagued the whole Watcher group. "I still can't believe she's gone... I remember when I first came here...I was sixteen and so confused...she helped me so much. Helped me sort out my problems, inspired me to do something about them...she was irreplaceable. In a way, I thought she'd never die."
Beatrice nodded, gulping down the tears that threatened to show as she picked up the book again, taking it with her with the intent of keeping it. “I-I agree.” Beatrice said, clutching the book tight against her chest as she looked left and right across the study, a look of a lost child on her face. “Without her everything seems to be falling apart.” But Beatrice shook her head, taking a few steps back to the bookshelf she had been looking at earlier, her back to Sadie as she continued to speak, “But what can we do but move on? Time has never been kind even to us, though we manipulate it.” Pushing her hair back, Beatrice sighed as she allowed a silence to sink into the room, her eyes glazing over once more before Sadie once again broke her reverie. "July 30th, 1478, Florence, Italy. 8 o'clock pm. Do you think this is how Artemis knew what orders to give us? Y'know what, we should probably get moving. If we don't do something soon, bad things could happen. I'm gonna go grab some stuff real quickly. If you want to come along, Bee, meet me back in here when you're ready." Beatrice could only watch wide-eyed, mouth agape as Sadie immediately hurried out of the study, leaving Beatrice all alone in the dusty room. “I…” She said just as the last wisp of Sadie’s hair disappeared around the door. And then Beatrice was alone.

Sighing, Beatrice walked up to the book and peered down at it, curiosity filling her face as she flipped through the pages, wonder on her face. She had never seen the book up close before- and, well, now she could but something tugged Beatrice away from it. It did not feel right for her to go through the pages. Following Sadie, Beatrice walked out of the study, casting one last peering glance at the book before hurrying to her own room, throwing her new book aside as she quickly shed her clothes before picked up her set of five small daggers and strapped them around her waist. She would not use them though- Beatrice never used her daggers except during training sessions. Shrugging on her clothes, Beatrice gave herself a quick glance in the mirror- her multicolored floral shirt looked a bit rumpled- before rushing back to Artemis’s study, pausing at the door once again before leaning against the corridor wall, waiting for Sadie to return rather than enter the room by herself.
