Most of his friends call him Andy or Andre, especially if they're not Greek affiliated. But, around the house, his nickname is Valentine, because even as a pledge, the ladies love him, and he never goes anywhere without a girl on his arm. Sometimes they shorten it to Vally or Val.

Camille Morais Rocha ; Bruno Sebastian Rocha ; Ana Clara Thais Rocha

Camille and Bruno married and had kids young, welcoming Ana Clara into the world when Camille was only seventeen and Andre when she was twenty-three. They decided to wait to have another child because Bruno went to college after Ana Clara was born. Bruno was a member of Beta Gamma Omega, and even went on to be president at Fulton University. Camille went to the local community college nearby, but mostly stayed at home to take care of Ana Clara. They were actually pretty well off, considering Bruno comes from old Brazilian money, so even when they lived in an apartment it was in a nicer part of town and more expensive. They bought a house the year before Andre was born, and both children were spoiled very frequently during their childhood. Andre and his sister went to a Miami private school for their primary education, and Andre was always the star. Soccer and academics were his forte, and never one else was better. That being said, he was a lonely boy. He didn't have many friends, being the shy, quiet one who looked a bit gawky until puberty. He had one best friend growing up, his neighbor Jordan. He was a sickly boy who never really got to experience life, but is the inspiration for Andre to become a nurse. Jordan died when Andre was a freshman in high school, leading him to want a better life, full of happiness and friendship and everything he never wanted before. He became extremely popular, and though his grades dropped from perfect to scholarship-worthy, Andre finally felt fulfilled. He became soccer captain, and had a steady girlfriend until she went off to some Ivy League and thought she was too smart for him. Now that he's at college, his parents' hold on him is out the window, he does whatever he wants. Their cultural imprints are still on him, and those'll never change, but their relationships have strained.

H A B I T S:
β—― Andre has a bronze ring, from his grandfather, that he wears on his left middle finger. When he gets nervous, he'll flick it with his thumb.

β—― When he takes notes for anything, or has to write something by hand, he always doodles in the margins, usually just symbols or shapes but sometimes animals or people. He even carries a small notebook and pen in his backpack just in case.

β—― When he's at home or at the Beta house, he always eats standing up. He'll lean against something, usually the counter where they cook, and eat.

β—― Andre loves to shorten people's names, even their nicknames. Like his friend Charlie, he'll call Char, or Tabby, he'll call Tab.

β—― He writes with his left hand, but is right-hand and right-foot dominant on most things, especially soccer.

β—― He always carries around a ten dollar bill. The reason for this is in case he sees a homeless person or is confronted by a beggar, he'll offer to buy them a meal.

P E R S O N A L I T Y:
(good personality in green, bad personality in red)

How to describe Andre? Well, he plays the part of a Beta well. He is quite the charmer, and rumor has it he can catch a date with just a smirk in her direction. That being said, he can sometimes wander over to the side of flirtatious, especially with girls he shouldn't be flirting with. That's one of his biggest flaws, if he sees a pretty girl he likes, he'll go after her, boyfriend or not. Not to say that he'll force her to have sex with him, but he has been known to be a homewrecker. He knows how to wine and dine, there's a reason his name is Valentine. He's known to be the set-up, getting pledges and the younger brothers alike into great dates for formals and parties. As a boyfriend, he's acts a lot different. That's what most of his exes would say about him, that they get to see a different side of him. He has to keep up the frat boy facade, because other than being a legacy, that's what got him in Beta. But for the girl he likes, maybe even loves, he is quite the romantic. He's very much into random gifts, celebrating anniversaries, and showing off his girl. He's affectionate, likes to meet the family, and very much boyfriend material. The problem is, he's into dating girls that aren't into his frat boy lifestyle, and usually break it off. That's Why he's Valentine around his brothers, because he doesn't date sorority girls, only fucks them.

He's the brother they go to for honesty, though you have to have a hard shell, because Andre is very blunt. Coming from a culture where everyone means what they say, it's hard not to be honest with people. Sometimes people don't need honesty, especially in the blunt form. Andre isn't good at being the beater around the bush, the soft fall guy. That's what made him so thick-skinned, he gives what he takes, treats people how he would expect them to treat him. He is respectful, and never intentionally hurts people's feelings unless they've done it to him. He's an 'eye for an eye' guy. The world may be unfair but everyone gets what they deserve. It's also in cultural tradition to be very respectful, especially towards elders. No one can deny that Andre is polite in academic and professional settings.

Andre, coming from a rich family and getting nearly everything he wants, is an entitled person, or at least, he feels that way. He's cocky, like the rest of his brothers, and won't take anyone giving him less than what he deserves. It's partially the reason he's so adamant when searching for a girl, because he believes he deserves her. But he was taught how to be poised, and can get out of most situations with his words. He's a strong guy, not easily beaten in a fight, but fight is beneath someone of his status, and he's sure to make that known. Though a functioning alcoholic like the rest of his brothers, he isn't an angry drunk. Affectionate, giggly, and maybe even horny, but never the one to punch another person for the sake of it. Being the entitled person he is, he's also very stubborn, and isn't afraid to be manipulative to get what he wants.

Behind that frat guy persona is a romantic softie that nearly no one sees, and Andre would like to keep it that way. He has the most volunteer hours of his brothers, partially because he volunteers at the hospital for his major, but also because he's pretty selfless. Losing Jordan helped him become that, and philanthropy through the fraternity has also helped. He wants to form a charity when he's older to help people who are sick and have no way to pay for their treatments.

At first, he didn't even want to pledge. His father bugged him so much, and even paid him to pledge, so he did it. Once he met the brothers, and officially got a bid from Beta Gamma Omega, he fell in love. He became a legacy, like most of his other brothers. He even became the "pledge dad", or the new member coordinator, because he loves the fraternity so much.

Alpha Theta Pi: The Alphas are his sister organization, and when they're not being bitches, he likes to hang out with them. He'd rather hang out with them than any other sorority on campus.

Theta Chi: The Thetas are sweet, and that makes him suspicious. No one can really be that sweet and innocent, especially in college and in a sorority. They're the underdogs of the sororities.

Kappa Alpha: The Betas have a rivalry with the Sigs, so the Kappas are just... there. No one really pays attention to them, including Andre, but they've definitely stolen a potential brother or two from joining Beta.

Zeta Nu Delta: Ah, the Zetas. He's definitely stayed the night in more than one bedroom in the Zeta house, and he'll sneak into their parties from time to time. Sometimes he likes hanging with them more than the Alphas.

Sigma Chi Delta: The biggest rivalry, the Betas and the Sigs. Their parties can outdo Beta parties easily, and they often compete for potential brothers during recruitment.

P O S T - C O L L E G E:
He wants to work as an international nurse until he retires, then open a charity for people who can't afford their treatments and pay for them.

He has a scar on his jaw from a fight he got into in highschool, which is usually covered by his beard. He has a two tattoos: one of those tattoos is on his wrist, it is a black copy of Jordan's name in his own handwriting; the second tattoo is a heart on his hip, his sister also got it.

S T Y L E:
He usually wears a t-shirt from an Alpha sorority function, just because they're usually so soft. If not, he'll wear a tank top or even a Hawaiian shirt sometimes. In the winter, he'll wear a long-sleeve shirt or a sweater, and even a trenchcoat. He wears chubbies usually, or a pair of jeans, but hardly ever sweatpants. With his shorts and t-shirt, he'll wear white converse or sperries. With his winter gear, he'll wear bean boots or regular boots. He always wears a bronze ring from his grandfather, and his used one of his sister's old stud earrings to give himself a nose ring when he was fifteen and never got rid of it. Most of the time he wears a baseball cap, especially for class. When he goes to parties, his shirt always comes off. But he usually wears a button-down and some jeans with a nice pair of dress shoes, and definitely doesn't wear a hat. Around the Beta house, he usually just wears a pair of swimshorts.

M I S C:
β—― he's fluent in Portuguese because of his parents, and learned French from his nanny
β—― he's the reason Beta has a house dog, a golden retriever named Beta
β—― he's excited to get another little brother this year, since his first dropped out

Most people spend Sunday trying to prepare themselves for the droll and unwanted responsibilities that come about come the dreaded Monday morning. They sip their tea, drink that last bit of wine, and lay in bed trying to decide if they're really going to be petty enough to pretend like they're sick in this call to their office, scrounging up every excuse in the book as to why they can't go to work, school, or wherever the daylight happens to take them. However, for the students at Fulton University, instead of the lackadaisical doings of their typical Sunday evenings, the air around campus (and throughout the city) is alive with anticipation as people pre-game and prepare for a night of carefree drinking, dancing, and even drama...

...especially drama, particularly when the Greek life students are involved.

Some students are still in dorms, apartments and houses getting ready for the Guys in Ties & Girls in Pearls event hosted by Fulton's own Greek Life Alumna Association. Girls are just finishing the finishing touches to their hair or just sliding into velvet dresses, lacing up and slipping into heels of various styles. Sipping on glasses of wine or champagne, giggling over their shared excitement over how the night could unfold and the plans they've already made. Maybe even the tipsiness they already have. And guys are fastening on cuff links, straightening up the suits some just got from dry-cleaning or delivered by their favorite tailoring services. Quaffing glasses of scotch or taking shots to the head in preparation for how absolutely trashed they're bound to be by night's end.

Regardless of where everyone is - even those who are known for being rather prompt as opposed to fashionably late - it's bound to be a night of sensuous, luxurious, riveting and possibly even scandalous fun...so just like the Alumna Association asked on twitter, where can we find you?

Tonight's event is important and thus requires everyone's presence, the Betas' especially. Maddox knows this, which is why he's pressed, dressed and ready to go when he would really rather be doing other things. Parties aren't exactly his cup of tea (which he highly dislikes) but Guys in Ties, Girls in Pearls is a Fulton tradition a social butterfly can't afford to miss. Tossing the book in his hand aside with a huff, after reading the same line about seven times without it registering, he props himself up off the lavish leather couch and checks the mirror one more time. Suits may not be his preferred attire, but he's got to admit he looks rather dashing in them.

Archie what on earth are you doing? You've had me waiting out here for decades". Exaggeration comes easily to Maddox, more so when he's talking to his little brother. He could say the most outrageous things and Archie would simply brush it off with a laugh, which is probably why the too get along so well. In truth, Mad has only been waiting for a couple of minutes, but the desire to get this party over and done with has made it feel like much longer. The only reason he's at the Beta's house and not his own apartment sipping on too strong coffee and planning to arrive very fashionably late is because of his agreement with Archie to arrive at the party together. The others have most likely left already, but Maddox has no issue with staying behind.

A buzz coming from underneath one of the couch cushions pulls his attention away from the full length mirror as he searches to find which stuffed square swallowed up his cell phone. He's not one to get worked up easily, except for when he can't find something he needs. The electronic buzzes again, causing a yellow light to shine from underneath one of the cushions to his right. Phone in hand, he settles down to look through it, not entirely sure how much longer it will be until they can leave the Beta house behind. The flashing screen reveals 4 unread messages, 2 of which he doesn't necessarily care for, another from Andre wondering where the hell they are, and only one that genuinely catches his interest.

||From Cy: bet you're looking sexy tonight. my bed's been pretty cold at the Sigma house, wanna help me out? ||

Despite his efforts, Mad can't help but grin at the message in front of him. It has been a few days since he's heard from the blondie and was beginning to actually miss him. Not that he'd ever admit that to Cyrus' face, nor would he admit it to himself. Though in all honestly, perhaps it's a good idea to stay away from him, considering things are beginning to get a little too deep for Mad's comfort. Not to mention, having their little adventures at the sigma house is beyond risky. If one of the Sigma guys were to catch him there, that'd be the end of Maddox's career as a Beta. And for what? Some ridiculously attractive guy that probably only likes him for the sex? Ignoring or denying the offer is clearly the smarter option, and Maddox is a smart guy. Most of the time.

||To Cy: Challenge accepted ;) ||

Knowing that he just made a very risky move gives Maddox even more of a desire to reach the party, or better yet, to reach the end of it. Choosing to ignore the rest of the incoming alerts, the junior picks up his step in search of Archie, finally finding him in a bedroom, stationed in front of a mirror. Not surprising in the least. Arms folded against his chest and head cocked to the right, Mad leans against the door frame to observe until the other realizes he's there. "If I wake up with gray hairs tomorrow, it's on you" he jokes, usual smirk in place. It's only been a minute or two since Maddox last called for him, but if there is one things Mad doesn't posses in the slightest bit, it's patience.

An occasion such as this requires a clean-shaven Andre with his signature man-bun, and so he appears, dressed in summery tones and ready to schmooze. Andre is the delegated alumni relations of Beta Gamma Omega, and so he came early, like the rest of the alumni committee, and made sure everything is in order; that includes, for Andre at least, making sure one very special Beta alumni makes his appearance at the party. Reid James, one of the highest paid news anchors on American TV today, and the father of the boy he once called his best friend. If anyone heard that now they would laugh, considering the almost infamous rivalry between Sigma Chi Delta's Cyrus "Mary Jane" James and Andres "Valentine" Rocha.

But tonight isn't about that, and Andre refuses to let that be the topic of his evening. He may have invited Cyrus's father to the event personally, but only to watch the drama transpire from a comfortable distance. His night would be about schmoozing Beta alum and hanging out with his brothers, showing everyone at the party why Betas are the best.

Speaking of Betas, his other brothers should be arriving any minute. Hudson left the house earlier today to dine with one Aubrey Green, the president of Alpha Theta Pi, and one girl he wouldn't hesitate to take to bed. He hasn't had the chance yet, but he doesn't let his hopes drop. He decides to text the Beta president, one of the few Betas he hasn't texted yet.

[To: Hudson. Most of the alum have arrived. Good thing too, they won't have to see your ugly face for longer than they have to.]

He and Hudson are always ragging on each other, but in a joking manner that they both understand. He didn't receive an answer from Maddox yet, but he was sure to show, he's not known to miss a party for any reason. With Maddox would come Archie, his little brother. Andre always felt a tad jealous at the sight of them, considering his little brother dropped Beta a month after his initiation. He won't admit it, but he believes he would've picked Cyrus as his little, had Cyrus given Beta a chance. But Cyrus and his former little brother are dead to him.

The older version of Cyrus, more commonly known as Reid James, enters the party with a few other Beta alumni. Once a Beta, always a Beta, Andre notes; always schmoozing, always getting the upper hand. Andre saunters over to Reid, extending his hand and smirking when he is recognized. "Andre, good to see you! Glad to see you on the alumni committee, you represent your generation of Beta Gamma Omega well." The suave voice of Reid James booms throughout the room, alerting the room of his presence and demanding acknowledgement. "Evening sir, glad you could make it. I hope your flight went well.." They descend into mindless small-talk, both all too aware of the tension soon to come when Cyrus arrives.

Challenge accepted.

The words kept repeating in Cyrus's head, heating his body up in a way that wasn't exactly appropriate for this party, at least upon arrival. Cyrus made sure to send back something extra saucy to keep the Beta just as heated as he made Cyrus.

[To: Maddy. Oh, you'll have a challenge all right.]

He wanted to send a naughty pic, just to prove his point, but decides against it; they would have enough naughtiness during their private after-party. Cyrus drove over to the Sigma House after getting ready, and would ride in an Uber with his fellow brothers to the function. He saunters through the Sigma house with the authority of a king, the house being his kingdom. He stops by Cas's room, almost oblivious to the lingering smoke running through the house because it is such a common occurance.

He finds the fellow Sigma in his room, and Cyrus grabs the nearest blunt and light. He could pay Cas back later with another blunt, or money if he really wanted it. "Surprised you haven't left yet. Are you going to go?" Cyrus asks Cas, taking a large puff of smoke, holding it just past his capacity to hold his breath, and letting the smoke curl from his lips and into Cas's room. Honestly, if Cas wasn't planning on making an appearance, neither would Cyrus, waiting for his lovely Beta to return for a night to remember.

"Dustin, pour me a glass of scotch," Hudson ordered, walking out of his bedroom just as a sophomore Beta passed by. The younger boy already appeared to be ready to leave, but nodded eagerly at Hudson's request. Given that Hudson had spoke to Dustin's Big, James, just a couple of minutes before, he knew that neither of the boys were running out of the house at that very minute. Anyway, even if they were, Hudson knew that they would simply have to wait. He wanted his whisky, and he was too busy to get some himself. At least that was what he would claim, if the boy objected, which would never happen to begin with. Really, though, it wasn't like Hudson was standing around doing nothing. After leaving his bedroom, he headed down the hallway to Weston's room, and knocked on the door. He would have just barged in, had he not tried to do that and found that it was locked, and in the moment he stood outside the door, he stepped across the hall to bang on Archie's door. It was a loud knock, but only playfully so, especially once he heard Maddox's voice on the other end too. As long as Archie's Big was in there with him, Hudson knew that was one less Beta he had to worry about. "You two better hurry up and get down there. If us Betas don't show our faces, every sorority girl on campus is going to go lesbian rather than having to choose a Kappa or Sigma to go home with. You know how big we are on community service, boys. Let's be good citizens and keep the ladies happy tonight, but that doesn't mean I approve of any pity fucks. If you plan on bringing home a Theta, you better text me first for approval." Hudson was purposely being a pompous jerk, and the boys behind the door would know that, but as playful as he was being right now, it was hard for people who didn't know him to distinguish when he was being playfully arrogant and offensive, like now, and when he was just being himself. The two sides were so similar, and his serious personality contained many of those traits too, that you had to actually know Hudson, and the tones of voice that he used in different situations, to tell whether he was being serious or not.

Weston had spent most of Sunday afternoon trying to get ready for tonight's big affair. Like most of the Beta boys, it wasn't hard for Wes to look good. His wardrobe consisted of more than just sweatpants and t-shirts, and he had brought up by parents that insisted that one's appearance mattered. Therefore, he wasn't opposed to wearing clothes that were geared towards black tie events, and it wasn't hard for him to pick out a suit and bow tie from his closet that fit the night's dress code. He showered and shaved, eliciting jokes from his fraternity brothers about how he loved like a twelve year old with his cleanly shaven face that he brushed off, and was dressed and ready for the night by eight o'clock. He had opened his laptop then, trying to get in a little bit of last minute work in for a class he had the next day, when his phone buzzed with a text from Nicholas. As he looked at the picture, his mouth immediately turned upwards into a smile, but he nearly dropped his phone in a fit of anxiety when there was a knock at his door, and he heard Hudson's voice on the other side. Almost instantly, he swiped a finger over his conversation with Nick to the left, and hit delete to delete it in its entirety. The last thing he needed right now was for Hudson to see that boy's name on his phone, even if seeing it had almost instantly given Wes butterflies. By the time that he had gathered himself, put his laptop away, double checked his appearance in his mirror and opened his bedroom door, Hudson had finished whatever he was saying to Archie's closed door, and had a glass of something in his hand. Weston automatically assumed it was scotch, which was Hudson's go-to drink. Seeing that made him crave a glass too, but given what time it was already, he wasn't opposed to just waiting until they got to the venue. "What's up?" he said to Hudson, patting his pocket to confirm that along with his phone, he also had his wallet on him.

"Good, you're ready," was all that Hudson answered with, once Weston emerged from his bedroom. He looked the boy up and down once, before nodding in approval. A voice in the back of his mind spoke, saying, 'See, the kid is Beta material. He fucked up once, but once he's dating an Alpha, he'll know not to fuck up like that again.' Although Hudson normally preferred to drink his scotch slowly, savoring the quality of the top shelf liquor he always kept on hand, he drank his glass fairly quickly now, as he led Weston downstairs. A car was waiting for them, but it wasn't an Uber or a cab. He had scheduled for a limousine to pick them up, but only because it wasn't only him and Weston who would be traveling in it. "Come on, we don't want to keep our Alpha ladies waiting," Hudson said once they were outside, ignoring the confused look on Weston's face upon seeing the car.

"Even for you, a limousine seems a little 'much' for such a short drive," Weston commented lightly, looking at Hudson with a curious smirk.

"Only the best for Audrey. Besides, you have a girl of your own you get to woo now too. You can thank me later, but I managed to set you up with Charlotte Arnault," Hudson explained, only half-interested in the conversation he was having, as the rest of his attention was focused on his phone as he texted Audrey to say that he was on his way, and also to read Valentine's text message. He smirked at it, but opted not to respond right away, in favor of continuing speaking. "After whatever the fuck that was I walked in on last week, I was worried about you. No Beta of mine, nonetheless my Little is going to be doing gay shit in my own house. Trust me, Weston, I was pissed off after that. I was considering terminating your brotherhood with the Betas, but I know you, and I know that whatever that was, wasn't you. You're probably going through shit and somehow, that seemed like a good idea, but you should have just told me that you needed to get laid. Your problem's solved now, though. You're going to date Arnault until further notice, even though I'm sure it'll only take one night in bed with a girl like her for you to be following her around like a lost puppy. Again, you can thank me later. Right now, just try and act charming, Wes. We've got an image to maintain."

"Dude you seriously need to chill," Maddox's playful smirk remains in place as Archie turns to face him. The senior of the two makes a melodic whistling sound and a quick thumbs up as a sign of approval. Not that Archie needs approval when it comes to his looks, the boy's got confidence coming out of his pores. After closing the door, Mad watches as his little fumbles with something in his hands. It quickly becomes obvious why he had been taking so long. As usual, Mad declines the tempting offer of joining in. The beta isn't against it, nor does he care in the slightest that if Archie does it, he just prefers to steer clear of it himself. "Pass" he said, handing the blunt back to it's original owner. Archie shouldn't be too surprised, considering Maddox has never accepted a drag before. The next offer, howeverr, is something he can't decline. "Now you're talkin'" his smirk morphs into a grin as he gladly accepts the drink. Considering he hasn't had any coffee today, this is a necessity. Archie offers to be his wingman, as per usual. Normally Maddox would happily accept, but he's not exactly free for the night. You still mooning over, what's his name..." the younger pauses for a second, probably for the sake of stressing out his senior. Mad knows that's exactly what his junior is looking for when his grin turns into a mischievous smirk after mentioning Cyrus' name. Despite his best efforts, Mad can't hide the effect it has on him. "I don't know what you're talking about, Arch" he states, all the while hiding his face behind an almost empty glass. Archie has always loved teasing his big brother for no particular reasons, but most recently he has found a concrete source. "That joint must be rattling your brain cells already" he adds, the color of his cheeks now returned to normal.

Maddox can sense another teasing comment on it's way, but whatever it is, it's interupted by the loud knock of their rushed president. He gives his usual spiel about them needing to be at the party for the sake of the sorority girls' sanity. The boys know when Hudson is being serious versus when he's trying to be playful, even without being able to see his face. But after spending three years with the guy, Maddox an tell that even though his tone right now is his usual easy going president side, he's one hundred percent serious about some of the things he's saying. "If you plan on bringing home a Theta, you better text me first for approval". Maddox stifles a chuckle as his eyes gloss over Cyrus' reply that arrived merely second before. "Oh if you had any idea what I'm bringing home tonight.." he mutters under his breath, not entirely sure if Archie caught it, but not exactly caring either. There's no point in denying what his friend can easily figure out. "Let's go!" he says, urging his little out of the dorm room once they're sure Hudson, as well as the distinguishable smell of Archie's blunt, are both gone. "There are sorority girls in need"he adds, paraphrasing their senior's words. "Besides, you don't want to keep Eli waiting...or will it be Naomi tonight?" the cheeky smirk is back in place as the two head out of the almost empty Beta house. By now, the sophomore should be familiar with the way Maddox works. If he teases his big brother, he should just expect to be teased back.

The two arrive at the event a little later than expected, mostly due to the usually horrible Miami traffic. There's already a good crowd when they arrive and Maddox spots several familiar faces, one of those being Reid James. The blondie isn't even here yet and Mad can already smell the drama in the air. "If you need me, you know what to do" he states, loud enough for only Archie to hear. It shouldn't have to be said. By now Archie knows he can call on his big brother for whatever the need, but it's always nice to be reminded. Distancing himself from the younger boy, Maddox casually heads over to where Andre and Reid are standing, making sure to wait until they are finished so as to not interrupt. Betas should always be polite.

As Andre and Reid chat mindlessly, Maddox joins them, silent until they finish speaking. Andre smirks approvingly; Maddox has never given Beta any issues, acting like a proper Beta at all times and never giving the fraternity any issues. "Hey Maddox, have you met Reid James? He's one of our prominent Fulton alum, you might have seen him on NBC." Clearly Andre is not one for modesty, and knowing Reid James, he isn't either. He's a news anchor, and a Beta. The Beta alum extends his hand toward Maddox, but his attention is suddenly turned on the blonde frat boy entering the event. Cyrus.

Cyrus makes his appearance much earlier than he wanted to. He almost thought about not going, even going so far as to unlock his room at the Sigma house and take off his jacket, but he was pressured by the rest of the brothers and hustled into an Uber with some of his pledge brothers. Before he knew it, he's here, swarmed in a mob of Sigma brothers.

The first person he makes eye-contact with was his father, Reid. Luckily, Andre's father Bruno decided to show as well, and his big brother Blake's father, Alexander. While Andre followed the Beta legacy, being the son of a former president, both Cyrus and Blake had shirked a Beta legacy in hatred of their fathers and went Sigma. Cyrus is sure that Alexander is just as bitter as his own father. Still, he hadn't expected to see his father so early, and isn't keen on going to greet him. One of the Betas beside him is just more of a deterrant, but his favorite Beta is also nearby. He looks at Maddox for a quick moment, a barely visible wink towards the Beta before he sets off to find anyone else to hang out with.

"Cyrus!" He hears his father call him, and with a roll of his eye only visible to the brothers arriving with him, he makes his way over to the three Betas standing together. Getting this over early will be best. Cyrus ignores the glare he can practically feel coming from Andre, and extends his hand to his father. Cyrus may hate the man more than anyone else, but he knows how to be cordial in public, a skill set he'll need for foreign relations.

"Glad you could make it, I know you have such a busy schedule." Cyrus tries to keep his voice teasing, but it comes out cruel, and he can see his father's barely concealed cringe. He recovers with a quick, "Anything to see my son and my alma mater." With that, Cyrus leaves the Betas with a curt nod and quickly finds Ya Ya, the first person he spotted. She's by the bar, accompanied by quite a few people, including Maddox's little brother Archie. Cyrus let his hand slide sensually against Archie's back, just out of view of everyone but enough to rile up the Beta boy. He slides in next to Ya Ya, flashing his fake I.D., made by the DMV through a special source, and ordering a Tom Collins. With these upscale bars, Cyrus liked to use the terminology instead of explaining his order bit by bit.

He turns to the Alpha, pulling a forced smile she would understand as his public face: the face he keeps when there's more than one or two Betas in the room. "Hope you didn't miss me too much, Ya." Cyrus teases her, which is rare in their friendship. It goes to show how much he depends on his friends when his father is around. He takes a sip of his drink, searching for Ben over the rim of his glass. He assumed the Kappa would make it, and he's not sure how the whole "Ya Ya and Ben" situation is going currently.

He also sends a text to Maddox, just because he can, and wants to see him blush.

[To: Maddy. that suit would look better on my floor.]

The conversation between Andre and Mr. James is not that interesting, but Maddox knows better than to interrupt someone like Reid James. God forbid! "Hey Maddox, have you met Reid James? He's one of our prominent Fulton alum, you might have seen him on NBC." Andre says as if the man were so modest. Shooting the man his signature fake smile, he nods. "Of course, nice to finally meet you sir, you're quite a legend here". The interest in his voice is so convincing he almost believes it himself. There's an attempt to shake hands but something across the room catches Reid's attention, or rather someone. There's no need to look, Maddox already knows who. "Cyrus!" Much to Maddox's surprise, the blonde actually makes an effort to speak to his father, though it's short-lived and packed with sarcasm. The look on the man's face after Cyrus leaves makes Maddox just the slightest bit uneasy. For the most part, because it's the exact same look his father used to give him daily. A mixture of shame and disappointment. As difficult as it is, the disgust never shows on Mad's face and the conversation resumes. Not wanting to be part of it for longer than necessary, Maddox excuses himself to mingle with other guests. He's only known this man for less than two minutes and he already dislikes him. It's no surprise Cyrus avoids him as much as he possibly can.

Speak of the devil, the golden iPhone in Maddox's hand turns on with said devil's name flashing across the screen. Almost knowing what to expect, the Beta swiftly reads through the message with an involuntary roll of the eyes but can't hide the nervous smirk.

[From Cy: that suit would look better on my floor.]

[To Cy: please behave, or I'll have to have a serious talk with my future father in law]

Maddox has referred to Cyrus' father as "my future father-in-law" once before and the response he got from the blondie was amusing to say the least. He seemed almost flustered, which meant that Mad would be using the phrase several more times if it meant getting the same response. As he scrolls through missed texts, Abby's name comes across the screen from earlier that morning. Realizing she, as well as some of the other Alphas aren't here yet, he decides to send her a quick complaint.

[To Abby: Where are you? If I don't get to skip out on this thing, neither do you]

Once sent, he picks up his step, headed straight to the bar where several people have already gathered. He flashes a quick wave and smile to anyone looking but is more determined to get a drink than to make conversation. Archie is clearly busy with some girl he most likely doesn't even know the name of and has somehow managed to get himself a nice drink. Mad can't help but feel a little bit proud of him, making a mental note to tell him later. Just a few seats away, Cyrus has somehow managed to get himself one as well, not that that's surprising. Pulling out his own ID, the Beta slides it across the counter to the bartender. "Black Russian please" he says simply, body purposely bumping against Cyrus as he leans forward but never looking his way. "Thank you" he adds once the drink is finished, giving the bartender the simplest of flirty smiles. "I may need a few more of these, it's going to be a long night..." he says, knowing that's true in more ways than one.

Cyrus sits out by the pool bar, attracted by a recently-graduated Sigma alum, Kirk Richmond. The grad had taken a liking to Cyrus, mainly because he always had low prices on Adderall, but also because their general personalities clashed well. Kirk landed a clerk position for one of the Florida state judges, a prestigious position that would probably land him a judge position later on in life. Cyrus walks up to him, setting both the drinks down on a nearby table and greeting the alum with great happiness. "Man, first Guys in Ties as a Sigma Chi Delta alumni. How's it feel, old man?" Kirk turns, and with a big smile, embraces Cyrus. Kirk orders a drink for the two of them, and considering the state that Cyrus is already in, he sips his with little intention on finishing it.

"Man, Cy, I missed ya' buddy! That real world out there is cruel. Missin' Sigma parties everyday. How was your summer?" His words filter through Cyrus' ears, and he swears he's listening, but he catches a glance at a certain Kappa walking out onto the pool area and he's stuck for a moment. Hayden looks good tonight, fuckable tonight, but they haven't hooked up in a long time and bring that up now, with the whole Maddox situation, seems like unnecessary drama. Still, he can help but look at the boy and bite his lip, keeping eye contact for longer than needed. "Yo Cyrus, are you paying attention?" Kirk groans, snapping his fingers in Cyrus' face. Cyrus indignantly replies that yes, he was listening, and repeated Kirk's recent blurb of conversation. Now who said Cyrus couldn't multitask? When it comes to cute boys- and girls -Cyrus can be a master of anything. Cyrus returns to Kirk's original question, pondering it slightly. Summer was spent hooking up with plenty of people- including a couple visits from a certain Beta, but those usually happened down in Florida; Cyrus spent most of the summer holiday in New York. "Summer was summer. Missed the Miami heat- God, nothing beats Florida. I've come to tolerate New York, but I just feel better in Florida, you know?"

A small group of Sigma alum starts forming when Kirk notices some guys that graduated before Cyrus; some only a few years, but some long before Cyrus even thought about college. There is a commotion inside as more active Sigma brothers enter, including Jack Decker, Sigma Chi Delta president. Cyrus excuses himself from the group of alumni and heads back inside, making sure to purposefully brush by Hayden on his way inside. It must be the liquor because Cyrus usually doesn't bother with more than a hello towards the Kappa brother. He even casts a smirk towards Weston Cullen, who has made company with Hayden.

"Sorry to interrupt, I thought Miss Hamilton could use a pretty face around her." Cyrus teases his fellow brothers, unaware of whatever they had just been talking about.

Across the room, Andre finally makes his break from the James Sr when Hudson finally makes his entrance. Once Hudson is surrounded by Beta alum, after just breaking from a group of Alpha and Beta alum, Andre seamless joins the group beside Hudson. The Beta alumni are conversing lightly, and Andre starts a side conversation with Hudson. "Talking to my president was the only excuse Reid James would accept to let me leave the conversation. I swear that whole family is fucked up, but at least he had some sense to go Beta. The brother are behaving themselves, as apposed to other fraternities. So, the real question is, which Alpha alumni is going home with you tonight?"

Hudson was pleased to see Andre out of plainly innocent delight at seeing one of his closest friends, but also, because he had enough alumni mingling for the moment. You could only take so many stories about the "good old days" or questions about his father's business, and inquiries on whether his father would be willing to meet with the men to talk business. Paul Allen was a business magnate, and if you asked Hudson, one that was far more successful than any of the people in this room. He didn't get the credit that Bill Gates did, granted, but as a co-founder of Microsoft, it was easy to outscore most people on the "success" ladder. While Paul had not attended Fulton, he had been a part of the Greek system at Washington State University, the school that he ended up dropping out of after only two years, in order to start his career as a programmer. Even considering that Paul wasn't a Beta brother, had not went to Fulton, and had never even been to one of these events, most of the men that Hudson conversed with knew who his father was. For those of them who were in the business field, it would have been stupid of them to not know, as just like this was a networking event in disguise for Hudson, in a sense, they felt like it could be for them as well. Hudson's relationship with his father was different, to put it simply, though, so it was hard for him to do more than to chuckle at the men's inquiries, and say something along the lines of his father being a busy man. It wasn't even a lie, but more than that, it was the least awkward way for Hudson to explain that he and his father weren't really close enough where he could ask for favors like that. They weren't estranged, and even though Hudson was raised primarily by his mother and not his father, they just weren't close. It had more to do with Paul's reclusive personality than anything, and considering that that was the cause of it, and no tension or fighting, Hudson never really shamed his relationship with his dad. It was what it was, and considering that he had never known anything different, he was content with it.

With he and Andre standing just far enough from the group he had originally been conversing with, Hudson felt comfortable enough to be real with Andre, sans the fear of anyone overhearing them and seeing that Hudson wasn't always as respectful and profession as he acted when he needed to. "I know the kid is, but the dad too? I was talking to Mr. James earlier, he didn't seem that bad to me," he shrugged, a look of casual curiosity on his face before he shrugged it away, deciding that it wasn't important enough for him to worry about. They weren't in close enough proximity to Archie and Maddox, and the confrontation they were in with some Kappas, so Hudson only knew enough to agree at Andre's claim that the Betas were, as always, putting on a good show or professionalism and classiness to night. "That's what I need to talk to you about, man," he admitted, when Andre playfully inquired about who he would be taking home for the night. "You know how I'd go exclusive for Audrey in a second, if that was what she wanted," he began, feeling no shame talking to Andre about how he was basically head over heels for Audrey, since he and Andre were that close. "But she's still not into it. Doesn't want anything real. Not trying to get all deep with you, Valentine, but you know how ladies work almost as well as me," he continued, smiling some at that playful dig, "So, do you think this is some test she's putting me up to? To see if I'm actually loyal and not gonna move on, or do you think it's actually time to move on? I know I sound crazy, but you know girls. They say one thing and mean the other, and I'm not looking to mess up my changes with Audrey, but if she's really not down for something, then maybe I should start looking elsewhere, you know?"

Andre smirks when the president steps away with him, but only slightly, so that they can speak privately without anyone hearing them speak disrespectfully or crudely. He even snorts at Hudson's comment about Reid, that he seems normal. If he only knew the half of it... "Some of the things he's said on air, I don't know. I haven't really kept up since Mrs. James passed, but it doesn't seem like they've gotten any less crazy. My dad said they did some wild things while they were active in Beta..." Andre trails off, grabbing a small glass of whiskey he sent a pledge off to get him. He sips on it slowly, carefully, scanning the room to make sure his Betas are in check. Hudson is the president, and he trusts Andre to keep them in line.

Then, Hudson chuckles at Andre's previous statement. Alpha alumni sounds right up his alley, and he's almost sure he can see one he actually knows, Danielle Adler, standing by the bar-- You know how I'd go exclusive for Audrey in a second, if that was what she wanted, but she's still not into it. Doesn't want anything real. Not trying to get all deep with you, Valentine, but you know how ladies work almost as well as me," Andre snorts, sipping on his drink once more. He knew Hudson was mainly digging for fun, and Andre was known all around campus as the best with the ladies. "They don't call me Valentine for nothing, Allen." He quickly replies before Hudson continues, "So, do you think this is some test she's putting me up to? To see if I'm actually loyal and not gonna move on, or do you think it's actually time to move on? I know I sound crazy, but you know girls. They say one thing and mean the other, and I'm not looking to mess up my changes with Audrey, but if she's really not down for something, then maybe I should start looking elsewhere, you know?"

Andre has to ponder over what his brother tells him. He knew about Audrey and Hudson, merely because of his close friendship with Hudson, but romantic relationships aren't really his thing. Freshman year, man, Andre was head over heels for an Alpha sophomore, and she even indulged him. They had a very strong relationship, for about half a year or so, when she broke his heart. He eventually got over it, and they've seen each other for lunch, but he hasn't had a girlfriend since. But, when he was with her, he went through a lot of tests to prove his faithfulness.

But he knows Audrey, and she doesn't seem to be on the market for something serious right now. He doesn't want to steer Hudson in the wrong direction, because he knows that their relationship is more than anything sexual. He sighs, making his answer is as honest as he can make it. "Allen, I don't want to say that you should just give up on her, but I don't think she's looking for anything serious right now. So if you're willing to wait, I wouldn't move on. But, she's not settling down anytime soon, keep that in mind."

One thing on Andre's mind is the escalating fight. It seems as if Archie Hervieux, one of their newer Betas, is at the brunt of it all. If this gets any worse, it won't be Betas getting the blame, Andre would make sure of it. Still, he makes sure to send a quick text to Maddox, Archie's big brother, and a glare in Archie's direction.

[To: Maddox Izumi. There's too many alumni here for any Beta to be causing trouble. Get Hervieux under control or I will.]

Andre's words were honest, and Hudson could appreciate that, but they were words that he was already knew. A part of him was hoping that Andre would give him a more extreme answer, one that would solve his problem in an instant. If he told Hudson that he possessed some knowledge that Hudson was ignorant to, about how Audrey had swore to someone that she would never be anything serious with Hudson, then that would give him a solid reason to move on. If he told him that he was convinced that Audrey was playing hard to get, and that he could break through that sooner than later, then he wouldn't give up so easily. Andre was Hudson's best friend, so he took the man's words with more thought than he would have anyone else's, but it still left him in a position where he really needed to evaluate the situation and himself, on his own, and then decide. With a sigh, Hudson nodded. "Can always count on you for the words of wisdom, Valentine," he said, a minuscule smirk appearing as he tried to lighten himself up. He knew that he had to think all of this over, but he didn't need to do it here, right now. Audrey had already told him that she wasn't looking for anything tonight so it wasn't like the decision on what to do needed to be made immediately. Instead, Hudson told himself that he needed to relax and enjoy the night. He was ready to allow his smirk to grow, with the plan of asking Andre who was on his radar for the night, but those plans, along with the plan of relaxing, flew out the window in a matter of seconds when the commotion on the other side of the room became impossible for him to ignore.

"Fuck!" he said in a voice no louder than a hiss when he spotted two of his Betas involved in the scuffle. Of all nights, they had to pull this shit tonight, Hudson thought. He could feel his blood pressure skyrocket and his fists immediately balled up, as he navigated his way through the groups of people, careful not to shove any of the alumni in his way, like he actually felt like doing, until he reached the group. By the time he had made it there, Maddox was holding Ben, a Kappa, in a head lock, as a young man whose attire suggested that he worked for the venue tried to pry them apart, while two other men in similar uniforms were separating Archie and another Kappa, who Hudson recognized as Daniel. Especially at events like this, where behavior meant everything, Hudson wasn't a fighter. He wasn't out of shape, and he wasn't scared of fighting, even if, admittedly, there were guys like Andre, and Jack Decker, and Ben here, who probably but one hundred times more effort into perfecting their physique so that they could wreck people in fights like these.

Fighting just wasn't his thing. He felt it to be uncivilized and classless, and he was part of the class that preferred to fight things out in court, by suing people for ridiculous amounts of money for absolutely any wrongdoings. That was why it was just in his nature to believe that the Kappas started this fight. Legally and even simply appearance wise, given the importance of the event they were at, he knew that would be the best way that this horrible situation could play out - if he could make it seem like it was the Kappas who were on the offensive side. Luckily for him, it was Ben who had thrown the first punch, followed by Daniel tackling Archie to the ground. Both of those assaults were only provoked by words, which meant that legally, they had a case. Obviously, Hudson wasn't seriously planning on taking anything to court, but in his mind, it was important to know that if the law ever did get involved, that any aggression on your part only came out of self defense. He hadn't been here to actually know that that was what his Betas were acting in, but he was lucky that it was true. "Take him, and both of you, get the hell out of here," Hudson snapped, grabbing Maddox by his suit jacket to demand his attention, once he had released Benjamin from the headlock he was holding him in. Given that this event was not just for students, Hudson didn't want to make more of a scene that the two Betas and two Kappas had already made, so he forced himself to remain more calm than he thought could even be possible, given the situation, as he turned to two of the staff members who had rushed over. "And I want these two animals removed from this property immediately, or I'll have the police and my lawyer on the phone faster than your boss will be able to draft your termination notices," he threatened, again, his voice no louder than a hiss, to ensure that no one outside of the small group that this had occurred in, could hear him.

When the people involved in the fight, including his Beta brothers, evacuated the building, Hudson felt more relaxed. Not drastically more relaxed, but more relaxed than he had before. At least now, the troublemakers were gone, and he could work on damage control. It looked like Valentine was already on that, which Hudson appreciated, but when Hudson passed by one of their chairmen, he caught the man's eye and decided to try to earn back some brownie points for his boys, too. The man seemed only remotely interested in the fight that had just went done, so without lingering on it for too long, Hudson ensured him that the two Kappa boys were the ones at fault. He constructed his own recollection of the fight, informing him that apparently, Ben and Danny had been so intoxicated that they had started to badmouth the Theta and Alpha girls that were standing near them. When Archie and Maddox, the Betas, began to defend the girls, the Kappas lunged on them for no reason other than being incredibly drunk and unruly, and blatantly disrespectful. The graying man seemed to believe it without a second thought, and continued to question Hudson about his plans for the next year.

Amaris' entrance wasn't needed if you asked Hudson, and really, he would probably tell her it was an interruption, but he couldn't keep himself from smiling just slightly at how smooth and well-spoken she was in stealing him away from the older man. Hudson bid him farewell and thanked him for his time, before focusing his attention on Amaris once they were on their own. "Come on, Hamilton. You should know better. People like me are interested in the dollar signs. People like you are interested in justice. If I wanted justice, I could lawyer my boys up for that nice little punch that that pathetic excuse of a Greek member threw. What am I going to get out of suing, aside from that worthless dose of justice? Chump change - Which I'm sure is equivalent to dollar signs for you Thetas and Kappas, but for me, not worth it. I'll let the board deal with those two pieces of garbage, but hey, we can still add this to the long, long list of things that you owe me for, yeah?" he said, a sly smirk on his face as he feigned a sincere smile. "Now if you'd excuse me," he continued, his eyes turning to his phone as he continued to talk, "There's a glass of scotch calling my name at the bar. Should we add a drink to the list of the things that you owe me for, too? What're you drinking tonight, Theta? Water? Apple juice?"
As he playfully taunted Amaris, he was busy texting the entirety of the Beta fraternity, in a few separate group chats.

To: Beta Brothers
As some of you may have heard, the garbage from the Kappa house consumed a little bit too much alcohol tonight. Not much of a surprise, considering we all know the fairies are lightweights, but those Mike's Hard and cranberry vodkas they drank fucked them up enough to think that talking down to our lovely Alpha girls was appropriate. Archie and Maddox stepped up to the plate and tried to get them to back off, but the animals decided to throw punches at one of the most important events of the year. Unfortunate for them, but if any of the alumni ask tonight, feel free to let them know that the only reason why our brothers were involved was pure chivalry.

"Why do you look like a supermodel?"

"Why do you look like shit?" Amaris shot back, unrepentant, as she approached the haggard-looking Kappa. Nick shot her an unimpressed glare, but Amaris only raised a delicate eyebrow, stopping directly in front of where he sat. It was only 11:25 and very much still morning, but Nick had been up and about at eight in the morning for a three hour lab he honestly should have scheduled for the afternoon. However, like the dumb ass Amaris had called him when they were planning out their schedules just before the summer, Nick had insisted on doing a few classes in the morning. He was up anyway; he had mused. Except, he obviously hadn't factored in nights like last night, where he had chugged more rum and cokes he probably should have. Luckily, he hadn't thrown his entire existence up in the toilet - a win, if you asked him - but he damn sure didn't leave unscathed. Amaris had made sure to give him enough water to counteract the worst part of the hangover, but there was no denying by the tired look on his features. Amaris held two travel mugs in her hands and after a shake of her head, which was accompanied by a light chuckle, she handed one of them to him.

"Such a good friend. Provides for me while insulting me, I'm so grateful," he replied sarcastically. He did, in the next breath, gratefully take two large swallows of the caffeinated beverage, delighting in the hot sweetness that flowed on his tongue. While Amaris acted like she had hated her job at Starbucks during freshman year, she hadn't walked away from it without skills and the truth was that Nick preferred going to the Theta house for his coffee fixes as opposed to Starbucks. They had a lot of the same syrups and even fixings, and Amaris made a mean caramel snickerdoodle frappucino, a treat from Starbucks' secret menu that still tasted great with her Lavazza espresso. He practically moaned on another drink and Amaris rolled her eyes as he declared, This is everything."

"I bet." Sipping at her own, Amaris waited for him to rise for them to continue, heading towards towards the gated entrance so that they could leave to get to the food trucks that lined the sidewalk during this time. Most days, Fulton Students finessed their way through the lunch rush at the Student Center's main cafeteria, hoping to get that quick bite in between classes or at the various small delis, bakeries, sushi spots, grille, and coffee shops on campus. They had pretty decent chefs on campus, that much Amaris had realized during freshman year, but the real treat was at the food trucks of Miami that came to take up college kid dollars that honestly should be kept in their wallets. However, the food was always good, no one ever walked away unsatisfied, and she herself had partaken in the food truck frenzy a few times. Today wasn't that day as, since she hadn't had to go to work first thing in the morning because she had been helping with a project that had taken up some late nights, which resulted in her having Monday off, she had cooked for herself to save a bit of money. Her spaghetti squash mixed with kale, apples, and chicken sat, warm, in a container, inside of her purse beside a Vitamin water, just waiting for them to sit and eat. "Unlike some people, I had to meet with the board this morning since certain people's brothers decided they were street fighters at an alumni event."

"Hey, you said that you saw what happened - "

"Yes, and regardless of what might have incited the first blow, one of your boys was the one who delivered it," Amaris interrupted, giving Nick a rather pointed look. While she had definitely stressed the fact that obviously the boys had responded in lieu of a verbal assault from the Betas, and also making sure the board remembered that there was a lengthy history of assaults from the Betas that hadn't resulted in last night's actions and that such a display was bound to happen at their behest due to their own negligence (yes, Amaris took that risk), the Kappas boys involved weren't exactly going to walk away without reprimanding and a small punishment. Neither were the two Beta boys, regardless of their acting in self-defense. "Ben and Danny have to do seventy-two hours of community service and help clean up after the Beta and Alpha event on Wednesday." Nick's mouth opened, but he closed it a moment later.

"And the other guys?"

"Community service," she replied, nodding at the truck Nick was bound to pick. He had a deep love for anything Asian and Amaris liked Dim Ssam a Go-Go just as much as he did. Nick shot her a small smile before heading over to look at the menu he was already familiar with. "Might as well text them, though. We need to have a meeting to make that announcement." Nick frowned, but he didn't refuse, pulling out his own phone just as Amaris pulled out her own from her Saint Laurent purse.

To: Hudson
Your boys need to fulfill 72 hrs of community service. Monetary contributions to foundations do not count, I checked.

To: Hayden, Danny, Ben
Meeting in an hour. Getting lunch now, but Mare has the verdict from the board.

Last night didn't go as planned for Andre or Cyrus, but it seems that the Sigma came out with more bruises.

Cyrus ended up calling an Uber to take him back to the Sigma house after his abrupt departure from Maddox's apartment. It was his fault, he knew it, but he didn't expect the Beta to be so cold toward him. He'd hoped Maddox would have protested him leaving, but it seemed he was more than happy to see him go. That hurt quite a lot more than Cyrus expected it to, considering just moments before, he was going to tell Maddox he thought he loved him. Now he's not even sure whether the other boy even cares about him.

That made sleeping alone in his bed at the Sigma house just a bit more cold. When his 6:30 AM alarm came around, giving him enough time to get ready for his 8:30 Spanish course, he hit the snooze button until 7:30 rolled around. He couldn't force himself to wear anything more put-together than a loose dress shirt and slacks, but he's sure that he'll look much better than over half of the students who went to the alumni event last night, and probably the best of his own brothers. He slicks his hair back, making the icy blonde locks look oily because of the product, not because he shirked his usual morning shower.

He makes coffee at the Sigma house as well, considering he doesn't have time to stop at Starbucks before class. With a travel mug in his hand, and his favorite golden aviators on to mask the blinding sun, he makes it to his 8:30, and subsequently, his other classes with little trouble. His Spanish professor decided to test their previous knowledge with a fifty-question pre-test, something Cyrus was not expecting and, without his bilingual upbringing, probably would have failed. Even in an upper level course, a good portion of the students failed it; including Andre, who somehow ended up in Cyrus' Spanish course, even with it being the only course Andre's taking out of the nursing school. Luckily though, the rest of his classes today were Beta-free, and most professors didn't do more than go over the syllabus. Spanish, International Accounting, and Statistics flew by, and Cyrus let his grumbling stomach steer him towards the cafe for one of their banana nut muffins.

Andre spends most of the day, aside from his Spanish class, in the nursing building doing clinicals. By the time 11:30 hits, he gets an hour break before he has to be back for more clinicals, and decides to grab something from one of the food stands on campus. He doesn't interact with any of his usual greek crowd during school days, just because nursing school takes up so much of his time. When he can, he'll have lunch with a fellow Beta, or one of the Alphas he's currently in bed with. It just so happens that today, an Alpha who's also in the nursing program decided to get lunch with him. Amanda, he's pretty sure her name is, took him to formal last year and they're occasional fuck buddies, including last night. She went back to the Beta house with him last night and they walked to clinicals together today.

As Cyrus as he's making his way towards the cafe, Blake texts him, concerned about his well being from the night before. Hopefully his big had a better night.

[To: Blake. Damn, sucks that I'm dead. You wish you got this ass last night. Hope you didn't cause too much trouble without me.]

He also notices Maddox texted him. He certainly isn't expecting that, and the nonchalance that comes with the text. He's acting as if nothing has changed, and Cyrus almost doesn't text. However, he can't help it, he has to send something snarky back, just to prove that the Beta doesn't get under his skin as much as he thinks he does.

[To: Maddy. As much of a philanthropist I am, I think I need it back. Though I'm keeping your shirt. Makes my eyes pop.]

The more he acts normally, the more he can convince Maddox that his abandonment last night wasn't because Cyrus was about to admit his feelings for the Beta. Just as he sends the texts off and enters the cafe, he notices Blake is sitting there, but his back is turned, giving Cyrus the opportunity to sneak up on him. "Couldn't stay away from me, huh? I have that effect on people." Cyrus' voice is rough from an almost recovered hangover and mostly disuse throughout the day. As he sits down with his big brother, he notices that the Beta he's been trying to avoid all morning is in the cafe, albeit too focused on his work to notice Cyrus. Cyrus tries not to pout, like a child, but it happens anyway and he tries to hide it by looking down at his phone. He scrolls through his photos, trying to distract himself from the pain building in his chest, when he notices an old photo, one of him and a certain Kappa-- taken at a gay bar in New York Cyrus took him to a few times. He decides to text Hayden, even though he hasn't truly spoken to the boy in months.

[To: Hayden Burr. Haven't seen your pretty face in a while, Burr. Want to grab dinner tonight?]

β€œThe area was encompassed in a bubble of warm, fragrant steam from the funnel cake deep fryers. It smelled like sweet vanilla cake batter you licked off a spoon.”

~ Sarah Addison Allen, The Sugar Queen

There was something about carnivals that brought out one's inner child. The whimsical surge of energy combined with various food stands packed with every sugary, fatty and downright delicious delicacy coating the sticky sweet air that surged upwards into passing group's nostrils. Screams from passengers aboard rides echoed all around, little beeping noises from won games filled people's ears. The playful ambiance of such events welcomed couples holding hands, students and even families, all searching for a little bit of fun after a long day. Carnivals were places to have fun, to relive just a small piece of one's childhood. It was also a place where anything could go and perhaps, where certain rules no longer apply...
