Introduction
In the year 2500, the game show that all of America has been waiting for with bated breath premiers: Are You Hot?
Auditions have been going on for months and months, the judges sweating blood and tears to narrow down the hopeful subjects to the Final Nine, who will compete on the show for the title of America's Sexiest Person. The contestants will be walked down the stage wearing little to nothing, where the judges will first say what they find attractive about the person, then circle their minute flaws with laser pointers. Then they'll rate Face Sex Appeal and Overall Sex Appeal on a 1-10 scale.
Many of the Final Ten only entered because they'll become instant millionaires if they win. Their families poor, their good looks the only thing on their side, it was the only chance to help their family.
In addition to seeing those sexy bodies strutting down the runway, Are You Hot is a reality TV show centered on romance. Participants are expected to find lovers among the other contestants. The Mansion, where the participants stay, is rigged with cameras, and viewers will watch breathlessly to see who will fall for who.
Romance is technically not required for the participants... but if you don't find someone to snuggle with, pronto, you will never get enough votes to win. And then you're as good as dead.
The nine losers will be forcibly put under the knife and turned into cyborgs. All their "ugliness" will be stripped away, replaced with breathtakingly beautiful "cyborg" parts. They won't be able to talk. They won't be able to move. They'll be trapped within their own bodies, only able to follow orders, helpless, unable to rebel or protest. Then they will be staff at the Mansion for the rest of their lives, until they break or age or their beauty fades.
Who is America's Sexiest Person?
Round One, the contestants will go down the runway one by one, naked. The judges will give them an initial score for Face Sex Appeal and Overall Sex Appeal.
Round One-and-a-Half, the contestants will be interviewed by the host. There will be no scoring for this, but it's important for votes.
Round Two, the contestants will go down the runway one by one, in swimwear. They will receive a score of Face Sex Appeal and Overall Sex Appeal, which will be averaged out with their initial scores.
Round Three, the contestants will go down the runway in any kind of clothing or costume of their choice. They will receive a score of Face Sex Appeal and Overall Sex Appeal, which will be averaged out with their previous score to give them a final score.
Then the votes will be cast, and the winner revealed.
Disclaimer-- I heard about ABC's "Are You Hot" and thought it was horrendous, but I adapted it into this futuristic utopian roleplay. The show actually existed, but obviously I have just taken it as a base and embellished it. Quite a bit. (:

"Hey, we're live in twenty minutes!"
"Got that. Microphones checked?"
"On it. Are the contestants lined up?"
"Yeah, there's here backstage waiting."
"Live in fifteen!"
"Roger that."
Dylan felt like cowering, like curling up in some corner, in turning her back to all of these strange people who were looking at her!
Okay... admittedly, they probably weren't looking at her. But it sure felt like it. They were backstage, all of them, waiting for the show to go on air. Back and forth scurried the stage hands, chattering into their headsets to the people who manned the sound booth. The lights were dimming and brightening as they were tested; the mist machine spit out fog at random intervals. She glanced around nervously. For a show that consisted of only eight contestants, there sure were a lot of people back here. HAM, that was hair-and-makeup, scurried from person to person to do final touch-ups. She'd already had hers, her hair pulled and yanked and her face buffeted with powder puffs, but hey, it was nowhere near as bad as how her mother used to pinch and prod her.
Then again, at home, she didn't have to stand naked in front of millions of strangers.
Dylan crossed her arms over her chest, cheeks flaring. She made sure to keep her head down. She looked at the ground-- where else would she look? The other contestants? Dear God, no! All of this was so-- so invasive! She could feel her chest tightening, her lungs constricting. She felt like she could barely breathe; all of this was so claustrophobic. Her hands just wanted to curl around the safe form of her inhaler. But it wasn't on her, obviously; she was naked. What if she had an asthma attack right on stage? Oh, God. She felt so bare in her nudity. She hugged herself tighter, keeping her head down.
Across the stage, the host, Tony "Griff" Griffith, was spending a copious amount of time getting his hair gelled and spiked and his face applied with male makeup. He didn't seem at all bothered by the eight naked contestants milling around backstage, waiting for their turns. Then again, he was probably used to it.
At that moment, he stood up, pushing the HAM workers away, and bounced over to where the contestants stood.
"You ready, guys?" Griff asked. He spoke way too fast, in a light tone of voice, as if he couldn't get his words out quickly enough. "Ten minutes till showtime. How ya feeling? Good? Good. You know the drill. I go out and introduce ya, and you walk down the runway when you hear your name." He glanced at Dylan and lifted an eyebrow when he saw her chest. "No covering yourself. You gotta sell your goods, kids. This is your life here. Don't wanna be borged!" He laughed. By 'borged', he was referring to the operation that took away your free will and turned you into a robot, a cyborg.
Dylan thought she might faint. She slowly lowered her arms.

Alexander didn't even have time to BE embarrassed. They basically forced him to undress and walk out to get ready to get on stage. 'The less time to get embarrassed the better I guess' he thought. He stood next to the rest of the contestants and said "They should at least let us strip," he smirked "I mean, how fun can it be to just look at a naked person? You get no entertainment." he was joking but Alexander had a way of sounding serious when he was being sarcastic.
H.A.M. came running past and puffed his face with powder puffs. Then they ran some gel through his hair and messed it up with their fingers. From there they put each strand back into place. The only difference was his hair looked fuller. The H.A.M. people didn't even look at him as they worked, and when they finished they didn't SAY anything either, they just moved on to the next person.
Alexander took a deep breath and let his hands hang by his side. He smirked when Griff told the girl in front of him to put her arms down. 'I'd probably be uncomfortable if I had that many parts showing as well' he thought. Then he came to a startling realization 'I DON'T want my sister to watch this...Mom better not have the tv on.' Alex wasn't sure if the show was on cable or just regular channels but he DIDN'T want his family to see him like this. 'Don't get self conscious now Xander. You're doing this for your sister. You're getting the prize money at the end of this show so the medical bills will be paid so you and your family can buy a house. Don't think about your mom or sister watching. Just do it'
He smiled at them apologetically and they smiled back before their expression quickly became a straight face, then their eyes flickered downwards. Jackson flinched and almost moved to cover himself, but remembered he couldn't afford to be shy in this competition, although he very clearly became uncomfortable. Tell him to go out in his boxers and he'd strut it out no problem, tell him to go out naked and he'll shuffle nervously towards the exit. Once they had wandered away, apparently part of the HAM team, he made his way to the further corner away from everyone. When the girl was told to put her arms down, he glanced over just briefly before looking at the ceiling again. 'Poor girl,' he thought to himself, frowning. He was sure the exposure was very uncomfortable for most of the ladies, and sympathized. 'I hope everything goes alright,
Then, he was being assaulted. He figured he had just been saved for left as the HAM team descended down upon him. They seemed to not even care there were no mirrors about, unlike what many of the TV shows suggested, with them being surrounded by bright lights and mirrors. For some of the times, he bend down a bit for them to get to his hair. He knew he was a bit on the taller side, and not all the girls were comfortable with reaching that far up to work. As they wandered away, he was astonished at how quickly they worked. Jackson frowned and reached across his chest, rubbing his arm nervously as he looked back down. 'Just do your best,'

She wasn't as shy as the others. Standing up from the chair she'd been in while they perfected her, she walked over to the others. She stood shoulders back, back arched, and her hands on her hips. She was a little self concious of her bellybutton.. But it wasn't too noticeable to the average person. To the judges, maybe. She didn't know what their opinion would be. Besides that though she knew she had a pretty killer body many girls would die for. To her all of them were gorgeous and she wondered why they were being so silly and hiding. It was about to be on TV anyway..
She moved over near Jackson, a contestant she was slightly familiar with. They'd spoken a few times before, and he seemed like an easy person to get along with. She glanced him up and down once, then stared into his eyes. "Nervous?" She asked him, with a playfully flirty smile. She tilted her head, looking up at him. He was easily 7 inches taller than her, but in heels it was less.

Then, he heard a voice and looked up to Jennifer, very pointedly rolling eyes around her body and looking at just her face, fixing his eyes on her. However, he moved his eyes much less than most people would, making exaggerated eye movements to avoid looking at her - But being blind in one eye made him not have to. He smiled slightly at her, his little smile charming, but also genuine.
"Hey," he greeted her before chuckling lightly and reaching up to rub the back of his neck nervously. "Yeah, kinda," he laughed. "If they told me to go out in boxers, i'd have no problem - But being out there with absolutely nothing?" A nervous chuckled escaped his lips and he shook his head. "A bit too much, if you ask me." Out of habit, Jackson reached up to stroke the dogtags he normally wore when he was nervous, but touched only skin since he had removed them as well. To keep his mind off things though, he simply moved his hand to his collarbone and rhythmically tapped his collarbone.

But she would never allow that to happen. Her spirit was the one thing they could never take from her. Or could they? If she lost, she would not only fail her sister but herself too. She would be no use to anyone- just a mindless, pretty face.
As a shudder ran through her, she dared a look up at the others. There was a blonde, Jennifer, who was proudly standing as though it was so stupid to want to cover yourself. Have you no shame? She asked, as the girl even flirted while they where all naked. She could help but roll her eyes, but kept her mouth shut. It was too early to be making enemies. HAM came running over, back her long honey gold curls, shoving things in her face that looked like instruments of torture. She searched their eyes, looking for a hint of anything- sympathy, pity, even disgust. But there was nothing in their cold, lifeless eyes. Nothing for Ella to connect to.
Once they decided she was prettied up enough, they hurried off to the next person. She glanced at the others once more, squaring out her shoulders as a fire lit in her bright blue eyes. She could not fail Lily. Would not.
Although she seemed determined, there was something about her that still seemed friendly. Approachable. She wasn't overly-confident, but she wasnt completely doubtful either.
Xander adjusted his view on his nudity. As strange as it was to think about he it was all for his sister. 'I can endure anything for her' he thought. 'Anything, even if that means acting like someone i'm not to get the money for her medical bills' he sighed and lost his composure momentarily, but quickly straightened back up and smiled charmingly. The producers shoved him in line and told him to wait while they finish up the others. 'Moment of truth' he thought.
He looked around at his competition and tried to assess their personalities. The brunette girl with the slender face (Eleanor) looked as though she was mortified to be there...but she also seemed to be ready to do it. 'Maybe she has someone she's fighting for as well' he thought. In that moment he knew that if he were to pick someone to relate to it'd be her. 'You're not here to make friends. You wouldn't keep them anyway...Only one can win and it has to be you' he thought to himself. His attention was drawn again by the male and female in the corner (Jennifer and Jackson). They looked like a celebrity couple. The blonde girl was flirting it up 'Maybe that's her edge' he thought. The guy looked a bit self-conscious as he tapped his collarbone, but he also looked ready.
He realized how odd it must've looked for him to be staring at everyone so he looked back toward the entrance to the stage.
You wonder sometimes.. What's you're purpose. Why are you here. What was she doing here. How does anyone know? She guessed that's the lesson: don't leave anything misunderstood, don't postpone what you want.. Because just like that... it could end.
Gandhi said that whatever you do in life will be insignificant. But it's very important that you do it. She tended to agree with the first part. Some might say it's selfish what she was doing was for herself. She wanted meaning to her life, even if this seemed pointless, it all was to her.
She'd learned that you can't change for anyone. You have to change for yourself. She thought back to when she was a little girl, and her mother used to smoke many times a day. Her mom always told her she'd try to quit, but she never did. Jennifer realized her mom had always been stressed, and she didn't really want to stop. You have to want to change more than anything if you're going to..
Changing was like winning or doing something. It was for yourself.. The best reason to do anything, she felt, was for yourself. No matter how selfish it sounded she knew this is what she wanted. Winning this. And if she couldn't do it, she deserved to be a lifeless robot..
She look at Jackson, something about him, just looking at him made her feel different. Even though she stood there naked, and looking somewhat confident, inside she felt like half of her was melting. His slightly dull green eyes seemed to look right through her. She swallowed hard, and watched him tap on his collar bone. Something then clicked in her head. A plan maybe, but also a conceded way of being close to him.. She decided she'd talk to him after the first round about it.

Dylan
She tapped her hands on her thighs to keep herself from covering up again, and forced herself to look around. She hadn't met any of the other nine yet. Well... they certainly didn't seem to be very comfortable, either, except for one girl. Dylan frowned at her. Jennifer, that was her name. They'd all been given quick introductions, but no real time for socializing. Even clothed, Dylan hadn't been fond of the blond, and now, watching her standing completely unabashed, Dylan realized something. She was going to lose. In comparison to that woman, they would completely glaze over sweet girl-next-door Dylan Springs.
Well, I'm not about to let that happen, she thought fiercely, straightening her back. She let her arms hand loosely at her sides and brushed back her hair out of her face. Confidence, Dylan. She tried to recall all of the lessons her mother had forced on her. Poise. Presentation. I'm just as beautiful as her, she kept reminding herself. Then a small smile curled over her pink lips, and she corrected herself-- I'm just as hot as her!
Two can play at this game, Miss Jennifer. But only one can win.
Dylan took a moment to compose herself. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. Then she plastered on a dazzling smile and strode across the room, picking out who she was going to hit it up with. She tapped the girl on the shoulder. Eleanor.
"Hey. Eleanor, right? Dylan." The buzz from the crowd beyond seemed to pick up. They were a crowd of mindless, excitable drones. Dylan winced at the sound. "This is fun, huh?" she asked, a little dryly. She scanned the other contestants and then nodded to Jennifer and the boy she was flirting with. "Check them out. Who does she think she's fooling?"
Dylan didn't quite know why she was saying those cruel things, but what came to mind was her sisters. They had always said things like that to her, right to her face, and it made them look so... in control. Her sisters were ugly, but that confidence made them look pretty and powerful. That was what Dylan needed to win.
Somewhere backstage, she heard a techie yell, "Five minutes till show! Get them lined up!"
This was not nice, not nice at all. Lenas was normally an incredibly shy, modest man - as one could tell from the fact that the clothes he wore covered just about every inch of his skin - so being forced to be stand around naked was not fun in any way. It was bad enough to be naked in front of eight, nine people. Soon he'd have to stand in front of the entire world. Just the mere thought of that sent him trembling, a furious blush on his face.
Luckily enough, or perhaps unluckily enough for him, his face was coated in such a thick layer of white foundation that not a single hint of blush showed through. Apparently, the HAM were trying to make him go for the 'vampire' look, and were currently coating every visible inch of his body with the same white foundation, turning his skin into a shade of porcelain white. Lenas tried not to focus too much on what they were doing, especially as they got to the lower regions of his body, and instead tried to concentrate on the hands tugging at his hair.
Finally, they appeared to have finished with him, and were moving onto the next contestant. Lenas felt like someone had put him into a suit of itchiness and pain. The foundation coating his skin certainly didn't look bad; in fact, it looked like it was his real skin and gave him a fairly gorgeous appearance, but, yeesh, it itched like the bite of a thousand mosquitoes. And then his hair. He wasn't quite sure what they had done to the black strands, apart from coating it in a few hundred pounds of moisturizer to give it a silky, shiny appearance. Judging by the constant tugging pain he felt on his skull, Lenas presumed they had styled in a set of elaborate braids. He couldn't quite tell, considering there were no mirrors there.
His eyes had been outlined in heavy eyeliner and eyeshadow, making the pale brown hue of his irises stand out and shine with an orange glow. His lips had been lined with a pale, rose-coloured lip gloss, making them shine but not actually colouring them. By now, Lenas was quite positive that he was wearing more make-up than all of the other contestants combined. He was relieved that his make-up at least looked nice on him and enhanced his beauty, as well as the fact that it helped give him the dark sort of look he was shooting for.
He sighed at the five-minute warning call. Five minutes until he had to enter complete hell. How lovely. He could feel his pulse racing, and was almost trembling with terror and nervousness, but still pushed back his shoulders, making his posture impeccable once again. Lenas thanked his acting skills; now it would be difficult, perhaps even impossible, to tell that he was completely terrified of going out onto the runway. Now he looked calm, courageous, and perhaps even a touch arrogant. He looked like someone ready to win this competition.
Eleanor glanced over her shoulder when someone tapped on it. She noticed a beautiful girl with long dark hair, and gave her a genuinely friendly smile. "Hey. Eleanor, right? Dylan." the girl asked, and she nodded. "Yep, that's me. But you can call me Ella. It's nice to meet you, Dylan." she kept her bright blue eyes locked with Dylan's, not wanting to make her feel uncomfortable by looking at her body.
"Check them out. Who does she think she's fooling?" Ella glanced over at Jennifer. "Maybe she's just trying to make an image for herself. I just can help but wonder what kind of image she's trying to create." Eleanor gave Dylan a look that said they both probably knew exactly what kind of image she was trying to create. "I guess if we want to win, we all have to find something to make us stand out."
She looked back at Dylan, and felt her heart drop when she heard "Five minutes till show! Get them lined up!" Ella lit a fire in her eyes, and stood tall and proud. Beautiful.

He stood behind a brown-haired girl. She was just as nervous as he was. He had much more pratice hiding it. He wore his 'dead face'. A mask he used to use when he was home with his abusive father and drunken mother. He stood straight, head held high that his straight black hair tickled the back of his neck.
He'd been told he was attractive and before the 'Incident' he used to believe it. He had strong, He was tall, rather muscular from growing up on a farm. He used to have a grin that played across his Native American features that would making girls go crazy. But that was before. He still looked the same but He just doesn't smile anymore. Not the way he used to.
He took a deep breath and waited. He'd take this like he used to take his father's beatings.
He'd bob and weave and make sure nothing important was damaged. In this case, it was his pride and not his vital organs.
"It's certainly not what i was expecting - The show, i mean. I knew what it was like, i guess, but..." he trailed off tapping his collarbone a bit harder before stopping, realizing he would go out on stage with little red dots on it if he continued. ", I suppose i forgot about the nude part." he breathed before wetting his lips with his tongue out of nervous habit. "I hope no one gets it too bad," he thought out loud, wistfully. He was very clearly a compassionate person, very easy to like.
Then, the five minute mark came and he froze, every muscle in his body tensing - which, strangely, wasn't unattractive at all. He watched as everyone began to line up and swallowed, going to join the line. He felt exposed, but knew he would have to simply get used to it if he wanted to win, or even have a hope at winning. What they had to say, he'd take it like a man, he couldn't let things that that damage him too badly. He began to stretch his arms across his chest in preparation, psyching himself up for walking out in front of the judges. He'd be confident, but not cocky, modest, but not overly, and perhaps even sexual, but not raunchy. Oh gosh, this was the time that he would have to be thankful for the drama department in his high school.

Zara stood patiently still as HAM fussed around her. There was one man who was pulling at her hair and spraying something in it which gave it a beautiful, energetic shine and added a little more bounce to her natural curls. A woman was dusting her cheekbones with a pink blusher and another woman was rubbing what Zara assumed to be some kind of foundation or concealer into the virtually invisible, silvery stretch marks that danced up her lower abdomen.
As they worked, Zara gazed across the room at the other contestants. Two brunette girls stood talking. Neither looked especially confident in themselves. The girl with the paler brown hair was trying to stand tall and brave but she still looked a little uncomfortable with the whole situation. But the one with the darker brown hair looked positively humiliated. There were two other girls, one was just another brunette who looked beyond terrified as she glanced round at the other girls. But the girl who really interested Zara was the blonde. Of course, she was pretty, they all were. But it was her attitude that really caught Zara's attention. She was strutting around, talking confidently to a boy. It was as if she'd hardly even noticed she was naked, her body bared before everyone, free for their judgement. It was clear she was playing a certain angle, but Zara couldn't quite figure out exactly what it was. But that didn't matter to her. Zara had an angle of her own and she was going to play it like her life depended on it - ironically though, it did. Today more than ever, people had to see exactly what she wanted them to. She needed them to see her as the party girl gone good to look after the baby she'd had far too young but wouldn't change for the world. Zara needed this. Her little girl, Evie, was her whole world now and she deserved a lot more than their current life could ever give her. Zara would win this if it killed her.
'Jackson Ashe!'
Oh god, no. As one of the members pushed his forward towards the stage, he looked back at the others, mouthing to them 'Good luck', despite that he was the one who was going on stage. Straightening his back and gathering up his courage, he squared his shoulders and walked out onto the stage, ignoring the whooping. The judges sat there, watching him as his walked out. Jackson wondered if he should be alarmed, disturbed, or pleased at the way the judge's faces lit up.
"Well, hello there!" One of the judges yelled out of him and he grinned.
"Hello," he replied. The next questions asked were what he expeced, 'what's your name?' and 'How old are you?'. "My name is Jackson Ashe," he replied to their first question, waiting as they began to speak once more. "I'm twenty one." Suddenly, there wre more whoops and hollers, and he was wondering if he should perhaps do something in response. So, for the sake of television, he turned just slightly and flexed a few of his abs - Suddenly, there were only more screams. 'Oh dear...' he thought to himself as he became still, but stood confidently.
"Well, i see you've taken good care of yourself, you're very fit, but don't overdo it - It gives you a good body type." Answering with a thank you, he chuckled to himself, trying to keep himself from simply collapsing under the pressure of the cameras and audience. "Could you turn around for us, maybe?"
"Of course," Jackson laughed, turning aand making a face of horror when no one could see it. He could feel them staring straight at him, and certainly wasn't very comfortable with it - though he'd pretend to be. Part of being sexy was being confident after all. Hearing that he may turn around, he did so, grinning again.
"Well, you've certainly got a pretty cute tush," Jackson blushed just a bit, but laughed, thanking them again with a small hip movement which elicited a small whoop from the crowd again. "Now, you're face as got a pretty nice shape to it. It's sharp and your jawline is very strong, but there's just something about you i can't quite place. Something in your face." Nodding once more, he pursed his lips for a moment before smiling again. "I'll give you an eight out of ten on face appeal for that, but i guess... a nine and a half for your body - You've taken great care of all of it."
"Overall sex appeal... i'd say it would be a nine."
Jackson nodded, grinning. "Thank you," There was a reply Jackson didn't much care to hear as he walked backstage once more. His face was white as a sheet, having gotten one away from a perfect score with them almost noticing his left eye. That was far too close for him, he knew if they noticed his eyes, it was absolutely over.
(idk if this is closed like... 'CLOSED' but i figured i might try and put this in and see if it helps. If nothing happens, then i suppose i'll call it CLOSED closed and leave it alone. :/)

Are You Hot?
Most recent OOC posts in Are You Hot?
Re: Are You Hot?
Yes, the first round can commence now. I think we'll just go with the flow for awhile; don't wait for me to get things moving. I'll make a post soon. The judges and the host can be controlled by anyone.
Re: Are You Hot?
I've got the final female spot and I'm still waiting to be accepted. Otherwise, I'd try and post something for you to respond too.

Re: Are You Hot?
Btw, all the info about the Mansion is on the first OOC post, but I'm going to copy/paste it onto the information page so you can find it easier.
Re: Are You Hot?
*ahem* Thanks for your submissions, everyone! You can start posting as soon as you see me do so; I want to start us off to give us a kick-start. So as soon as you see my post, let the games begin!
No wait, that was a different fandom... xD

Yay, someone else also thought of Doctor Who upon reading the plot :D

Aaaand, that was a really intense threat, so let's enjoy some puppies, eh? :D Remember, this is just the Internet; it's fun!
Also, for those who are interested, I just found a clip of the actual ABC show Are You Hot on Youtube. Here's a link!

I promise it has no vulgar or explicit content. Except for how idiotic those people are.
Re: Are You Hot?
Yeah, it is a pretty horrible concept. I saw a Yahoo article about terrible reality TV shows and this was featured, and somehow this concept sprang to mind. Ehehe. ^^; Plus I'd been having some difficulty finding something with romance that didn't have all kinds of weird restrictions like face claim or this character has to be this sexuality and this character has to have this personality. I hate that.
Some ideas for flaws-- eyes too far apart, nose too flat or skinny or wide, "man hands" for women or "lady hands" for men, big feet, too skinny, too fat (in real life, I once naively pursued a modeling gig just for kicks, but was told I was too fat despite being the same waist size as Jennifer Lopez. Believe it or not, Jennifer Lopez is considered a woman-sized performer, and since I was thirteen years old at the time, I was considered "too big". Thank God I laughed it off instead of getting huge self-consciousness flaws. xD), weird eyebrows or too thick eyebrows or too skinny eyebrows or eyebrows with too-big arches, too flat a face, a chin that's too weak or too strong, too-big ears or too-small ears...
There's five billion possibilities when you remind yourself that this is stupid "flaws" that some people would die to have. (:
