DAY 01
Paradise Island, Bahamas
Image

The sound of crushing waves can be heard in the distance as fourteen complete strangers stand before James Haynes, the host of Are You the One, with their new home behind them. This luxury villa will be their home for the next seven weeks as they go on a journey to find their perfect match. Seven men stand on the left side and seven women on the right. A few are already eyeing the opposites appraising each of them.

"Welcome everyone. You are all here for one thing, because you all have one thing in common: you suck at relationships." A few people laugh nervously, some shrug more or less agreeing, and others grit their teeth awkwardly. "Each one of you has been put through an extensive matchmaking process, using psychologists, compatibility tests, professional matchmakers, and information from your friends, families, and exes. Through this, we've been able to find an ideal match for each of you."

"Take a look at those across from you. One of them is your perfect match and it's up to you to find out who it is. You will have seven chances to pair up and find those seven, perfect matches. If you can do that, you'll leave the island with love and one more thing..." He pauses for dramatic effect, the contestants stare at him excitedly, "You will split the largest cash prize ever offered in MTV History. ONE MILLION DOLLARS!" The group cheers, pleased by this news. "Good luck!"

After finishing the show introduction, everyone moved inside the house. The sky was slowly moving into dusk so it was time to get the intros out of the way. Daniel lead the way, taking on the role of pack leader like he does with most things. While the house was gorgeous and he definitely appreciated it, he was more drawn to the bar hidden behind the staircase leading upstairs. 'Finally, my area of expertise.' He found an unopened bottle of champagne with fourteen glasses. He preferred something a lot stronger, but he can make do with this for now. "I found the alcohol everybody! Let's get this party started!" He began to pour drinks to anyone who held their glass out. He made his signature flirty eyes to a few of the girls before serving everyone.

Daniel raised his glass, "May we all find love or at least a good time! I look forward to getting to know all of you and I can't wait to find my match among these beautiful ladies. To being rich in love and rich with love." Daniel took a drink, finishing his toast. He ended up drinking the whole thing at once. A glass of champagne wouldn't have any effect on him so chugging the thing wouldn't hurt him.

~
Confessional
"I was laying it on thick when I gave that toast. I'm here to win the money. The girls in this house better not pull the whole, " He pauses, making his voice high pitched and valley girl sounding, "I like him, but he's not my match' thing, because I'm not losing 70K just because you felt something for the wrong person. If I find an awesome girl, great, but I won't have a hopeless romantic ruining this for me... God, I feel bad for the girl you've paired with me."
~

The toasting having ended, introductions among the contestants began. Daniel was right in the middle of it. Did he go over to the cute blonde he saw earlier? Or red hair? He could go to one of the three brunette girls or the two black haired ones. He decided on one of the brunettes. He thought he heard her name started with K. She was easily one of the hottest girls in the house and had the 'Head Bitch in Charge' look about her. He liked the difficult ones. They were the hardest to win over and most likely his type. Assholes tend to go with the bitchy girls so why not start there?

Daniel approached her, going straight for the hug. It was appropriate considering what this show was about and it didn't hurt to have some physical contact. "Hey! How ya doin'? I'm Daniel."

Tony Rogers
{27~#006400~Colorado Springs, CO~Here}
Tony had been to many places, but never to a tropical location. It was certainly a big departure from Colorado. He had lived in Florida, but that was the Panhandle, not like Miami and if he was being honest with himself, he did prefer cooler weather and higher altitudes. Still he learned to adapted to new situations so he was pretty sure he would manage here. He did need to buy new closes though and his mother and one of his sisters helped him out in that area since he wasn't a fan of the activity. The place they were staying out was definitely fancy. His parents had their dream home now, but even it wasn't this big since his mother did not want to clean a big place. If by some chance he did win money at the end of this, he made a promise to himself to send his parents on a nice cruise. He did discuss it with his siblings and all were on board with the idea. If not, they already decided they would just do it anyway, but it would take longer.

Tony's mind was diverted to the present when their host talked about the game and it was then Tony started looking at the women. First one that did catch his eye was the blonde, but not not wanting to be rude he only glanced at her briefly before glancing at the other ladies. All of them were lovely, but this didn't surprise him. His mother watched these kinds of shows and he learned good-looking people always made it onto these shows. He didn't appreciate the host's comment about sucking at relationships. He knew he was good at relationships, he had been married and very dedicated to his late wife Emily. Thinking about her now still brought about some sadness, but he knew that his late wife would want him to be happy and he did want a family too, so he figured it wouldn't hurt to try this.

Confessional
"I honestly don't know what to expect in this kind of situation. I plan to take it as I go. Quick shout out to my family though, thanks for everything."

Once the host left, one of the guys took charge with passing out the drinks. Having seen the guys before the girls, Tony knew already this would be one of the 'party guys' and would have an extra eye on him. He himself wasn't a fan of wine, so grabbed a beer instead. Soon, one other guy joined him, one that Tony liked already.

"Who are you going after?"

"Well, the blonde initially caught my eye, but I plan on finding out more about these ladies before deciding who I am spending time with more."

He honestly didn't know what to do next though. This was a unique situation and he felt like a fish out of water at the moment.

Oddly enough, Katherine did not feel out of place. She could tell that most of the other girls had been fairly nervous about meeting the men of the show but for Kat, she couldn’t have felt better. Not to mention she was getting a little bored of just talking to the others girls, although there were quite a few that she found actually interesting. Franky, for one. Badass and beautiful the two had easily fallen into a rather flirtatious friendship. Katherine knew that the show was rather heteronormal, but she was here to have fun right? No matter the party.

The first man that caught her eye was none other than the one making the toast. "May we all find love or at least a good time! I look forward to getting to know all of you and I can't wait to find my match among these beautiful ladies. To being rich in love and rich with love.” If she wasn’t trying to hold herself back she would’ve snorted in laughter, whoever he was she could tell he was full of shit. She knew because she was exactly the same. Katherine could not deny to herself, how attractive he was, she’d have to get to know him quite well.

Fortunately for her, he had decided the exact same thing.

Confession Booth:
“Would you look at that? I didn't even have to try. This might be easier than I thought.”

He took rather confident strides in her direction, and she locked eyes with him. There was nothing Katherine hated more than not being confident when it came to relationships. He instantly went in for a hug, which she returned, noticing the rather intoxicating scent of his cologne. ”Hey! How ya doin'? I'm Daniel.” Daniel. It suited him. She looked at him through her thick lashes, putting on a rather flirty smirk, after all what would be the point of the show if she didn’t at least try. ”Katherine. You can call me Kat, if you’d like.”
She grabbed a champagne flute off the table for herself, taking a rather careful sip. ”I’ll be better in about five minutes” She raised the flute slightly with a small wink. ”What about yourself? See anything that’s caught your eye yet?” She cocked her head slightly to the right, the right side of her lip tugging up in a smirk. She loved teasing men, sometimes it was funny watching them squirm under her gaze. With Daniel however, she felt it would be quite different, which intrigued her. She had met many men like him in the past, arrognat, flirty, confident, they were often the easiest to talk to, but the hardest to keep. She’d just have to see.

Sydney was a little nervous. It wasn’t everyday that your love life was broadcast blatantly on television. However, she refused to let herself get bogged down by the thought, after all it was first impressions and she planned on making a rather good one. The man making the toast, caught her eye slightly, he definitely was attractive, but she had to remind herself that she couldn’t just force herself to attach to someone head on and fall head first. After all, this is exactly why she decided to join the show in the first place, to challenge herself.

Everyone instantly seemed to know where to go and who to talk to, Syd did not. She felt rather lost as all of the other girls that she had befriended ventured off to meet the boys. She bounced slightly on her heels for a moment, taking a deep breath. She never had a problem to talking to people, let alone make friends, so she didn’t know why she was so nervous.

Confession Booth:
“This is already going worse than I thought.
Who knew putting yourself out there was so hard -”

After a moment she noticed a younger man sitting at the bar by himself, drinking a cherry coke. She thought it was odd that he seemed to be the only one not indulging in the alcohol, which intrigued her even more. She took a deep breath, before pushing off in the direction of the bar, clearing her throat slightly. God, she was terribly awkward. ”Hi, is this seat taken?”
She gestured towards the, obviously empty, barstool next to him. ”I’m Sydney”. This was going to be harder than she thought.

Daniel couldn't believe how easy this was becoming. It was the first night and he had the attention of the hottest girl in the house. Strategy wise, he should try to get to know the others girls tonight, too. If he only focused on Katherine, he'd have a tougher time finding his match. But what the hell, it was only the first few hours.

Daniel watched with a smile as she batted those pretty eyes at him. The flirting game was only beginning and something told Daniel she plays to win, just like him. A potential match possibly. He leaned on the table, mocking her by taking a drink from his champagne flute. He never broke eye contact with her as he took a sip. Daniel knew he was right about her. She was the type of girl who wanted to be in charge. However, Daniel didn't fall for every pretty girl he set his eye on and Katherine would be mistaken if she thought he would be wrapped around her finger.

"I guess you can call me Dan, if you like," Daniel says playfully, "I've seen a few things I tonight. A certain lady in red has caught my eye, makes me feel like a bull. I'm tempted to go ahead and charge, but I'm being a gentleman tonight." What he said might be on the crude side, but he had a feeling Katherine would approve.

Daniel heard the girl.... blondie he thinks, call out about the bedroom upstairs. He didn't know what bed arrangements entail, but it was likely going to be tight and push them all together. Hell, if he gets to spend the night with one of the girls in bed it's been a good day. That was with no sex involved too. Hooking up the first night will lead to disaster. A slow seduction would be the most effective to win any of these girls over. Rushing things leads to attachment and attachment to the wrong person means no 70K. If the girl in front of him is his match, great, but he wasn't about to get too attached, although she is his current front runner.

"Would it be bold of me to ask you to check out the bedrooms with me?" Daniel didn't seen any reason for her to say no, but you never know.

Elizabeth took a second to flop on one the beds nearby. It was so soft, felt like she was on a cloud. If she wasn't nervous/excited and had a drink, she might've fallen asleep right there. It still boggled her mind about possibly sharing a bed with one of the guys. Elizabeth has always been told she was old fashioned, but sleeping, and she means just sleeping with a stranger after first meeting them, felt wrong. It was the way she was raised and logically, it made sense to her. Sleeping with a stranger sounds like it could lead to wrong impressions. Elizabeth is super happy to have a bedmate who's a girl to make this easier. She would have no idea what to say if a guy asked her to share a bed.

"I guess they want us up close and personal." Elizabeth shot up from the bed when she heard a new voice. It was too deep to be Gracie's. The tattooed guy from earlier sat across them on another bed. His name started with a J she thinks, but she believes their are two other guys with J names here. Elizabeth didn't know what to think of him, but he was very handsome, in a dangerous bad boy way. His remark put her a bit on edge, because he wasn't sure if it was a statement or some kind of pick up line. Again, Elizabeth couldn't get a good read on him.

"Maybe, I'm more of a 'get to know you better before hoping into bed' type. I'm Elizabeth by the way." Elizabeth wanted to start off being honest with the guys. If they were after just a hook up, then they should find someone else. She knew this could put her in a bad position with the guys. Saying that the deed was off the table too earlier tends to make men leave, more men than she'd like to admit. Hopefully, Gracie could jump in and try to save this conversation since it's getting awkward for Elizabeth.

Maybe Jack's opening remark wasn't the right choice for the two girls. Elizabeth almost jumped off the lead she was lounging on when Jack spoke. She must've not noticed him enter which isn't uncommon. Jack has been told he could've been a thief with how quiet he can be. Not off to a good start.

"Hey, I'm Jack. Sorry if I scared you. I should work on getting louder, I guess." He took a drink from his whiskey, trying to distract himself from this conversation. He could tell Elizabeth didn't feel comfortable around him. She seemed very sweet in a Southern, preacher's daughter kind of way. Hell, her appearance even reminded him of how people, like her Father, think angels should look. Jack would have to guess she's going to most inexperienced when it came to relationships, like how people are supposed to stay 'pure' till marriage. If she stared spouting off that his tattoos were going to damn him to hell, Jack... didn't know what he would do, but she'd become his least favorite.

~
Confessional

"I'm surprised a girl like her would come onto this show. She does know what tends happens here, right?"
~

Taking another swig, Jack stays seated seeing if either girl wants to continue this conversation, or if he should make his way back downstairs. It depends on Red, because Jack doesn't think he'll get any more out of Elizabeth.
