Personality and Biography: Era is the human incarnation of the word "malice". She hasn't a single kind bone in her body and her ruthlessness knows no bounds. Her face is always calm and devoid of emotion, though she sports a calm smile at all times despite that fact. Having effectively shut emotion off completely in favor of single-minded efficiency, Era devotes 99% of her focus to the hunt, and 1% on the kill. She relentlessly toys with her prey by laughing, taunting, whispering, making sounds with nearby objects, and even singing songs of impending death to them from the shadows. She is sadistic, cunning, patient, and most frightening of all... She's highly intelligent.

Era's sanity left her long ago, but in truth it was so much more than that...

As a toddler, no more than 2 years of age, she was already sporting teenage level intellect. A true intellectual prodigy and savant without sacrificing any of her regular functions. She understood that her mother was pregnant with another child and that she knew somehow that it was a boy, and that they would use the boy for the ritual to summon a Demon to this world. Being part of the cult thanks to her mother, Era desired this right and begged her mother to let her take the unborn child's place. Her mother declined, saying she wasn't strong enough to support the soul of a Demon. Era then stole a copy of the cult's main ritual book, all necessary materials, and went out into the forest to try the ritual for herself. Though it was difficult, she succeeded. The soul of a Demon entered her body and fought for control over her mind... And Era lost.

Thanks to the mental struggle, Era's own consciousness was utterly decimated and all but erased from existence leaving the Demon in total control. It used her memories and knowledge to learn of its situation, and it decided to play along as if it were Era out of pleasure for the trouble it could cause. It returned to Era's mother telling of her success in the ritual, and her mother scoffed and called the Demon a liar and a phony. The Demon tried to manifest its spirit to strengthen Era's body, but it was unable to due to not having gotten used to her body. Her eyes would not glow, nor would the Demon's strength manifest within her. The Demon was forced to back down and relent its role as but a little girl for the time being.

And in time, the baby who would become known as the Red-Eyed Demon was born. The ritual to summon the Demon was a success, but interrupted by the Grandmaster of Te'i Sai who slaughtered all who were present including the boy's mother. The Demon, having been hiding nearby and using what little of its power had manifested to hide itself from Grandmaster Ta'kai's gaze, observed as the Demon who was summoned to the boy's body succeeded in manifesting its full potential from the start... Something was wrong with this body. This... Girl's body. Or was there?

The Demon within wracked its brain for years trying to crack the code that was Era's body, and eventually it realized that somewhere deep within the back of its consciousness, Era was still alive. She was still alive, and she was still fighting. Still struggling to prevent it from gaining that 100% of control that it needed to manifest its own power and take charge unconditionally. Because only half the other Demon's spirit had manifested, but managed to do so entirely, it shared the boy's body and thus empowered him unconditionally while using him as a life line to exist. But in the case of the Demon within Era, it was a full Demon spirit fighting for control of its host's body with nothing to give in return. It was going to be one or the other. All or nothing.

The Demon continued to fight, and over the years it managed to gain ground. Era's consciousness and fighting spirit deteriorated until at last the Demon gained full control and awakened the full extent of its power. But due to its struggle with Era, its power had diminished and was roughly on par with that of the Demon within the boy's body. The years continued to pass, and the Demon discovered that its full potential had already been unleashed. But something was siphoning it. Stealing it. Slowly its power and strength drained until it was no stronger than an ordinary human. And before long it began to piece together what was happening as it started hearing a voice inside...

It was Era.

Through all the years of suffering, pain, struggle, and torment, she had succeeded in finding the Demon's internal weakness and exploited it to regain control of her mind and body. Now back in total control and hungry for revenge, she realized by using the Demon's memory that her mother was now dead... Shame. She wanted to be the one to end her life. But her brother was alive, and that caught her interest. Over the next few years she stalked him and observed him, gaining an understanding of his strength, speed, reflexes, fighting style, and favorite methods of approaching a target and escaping when needed. When she felt she had enough information, she confronted him and told him who she was and what had happened to her over the years leading up to this point. The Red-Eyed Demon was unimpressed, but she demanded he surrender his title to her and disappear. If he didn't, she would kill him.

A tremendous battle ensued in which both fought to a standstill. Despite being slightly weaker, the Red-Eyed Demon had far more experience in combat than she did and forced her to retreat. She knew she needed to gain a better understanding of combat and all of the potential for random change that it brought. One could predict a fighting style, but not the instinctual reactions of an opponent which may overpower technical patterns and desire for specific retaliation. She returned to the shadows and continued studying the Red-Eyed Demon and his allies as he gained them over time.

Today... She waits for the perfect moment to strike once again, and forever prove to the world that she is the true Red-Eyed Demon.
