Brago waited patiently for Riysal to pack her things. There was a rustling in the bushes. As Riysal pulled her sword, Brago's hands went to his own. Muscles tense and ready for combat. He let them relax as he saw it was just a raccoon. "Hmmm. Never should be careful enough. Those highwaymen are probably worth a good m... uh amount of money. It could help us buy supplies at a store in these lands." Brago noticed the slip of tongue, and briefly wondered what she had been about to say. But quickly brushed it out of his mind.

"Brago, do you remember when we first met? We were children and my parents were still travelling. We didnt see each other often until my parents settled down. We are friends and if anything is on your mind, you can tell me." Brago gave Riysal a small nod. "Yes of course I remember. I promise that if I feel the need to talk to anyone about anything, I will come to you." Brago disliked lying to Riysal, but what else was he suppose to say? No, I don't remember anything about my childhood and I will not talk to you about my problems, they are mine to deal with? That would only cause trouble.

It was then that Sarah walked up. ''I apologize. I over slept, as usual. I really am sorry Brago. Is there anything I can help with, that could make up for my delay?'' Brago scanned the camp once again, seeing if there was anything that still needed to be done. "It is alright Sarah, if you would be willing to help prepare the morning meal that would be most helpful."

Brago watched as Sarah left and then listened as Riysal asked about telling folklore. His head jerked in the direction of the screams. His swords were automatically in his hands and he dropped into his stance. He saw the highwaymen running toward them, but it seemed as if they were running from something, not to attack. Then he saw the humanoid creatures behind them, chasing them.

The creatures seemed familiar somehow. But Brago couldn't figure out where he had seen them before. Riysal's voice broke through his thoughts. "I recommend that we drive them back to where they came from. Brago, I will tend to our prisoner. You may do whatever you like, I have no need for the others. But I would recommend taking out the highwaymen first before they take advantage of the situation."

Brago shook his head to clear it and went on the attack. The highwaymen were more concerned with getting anyway from the creatures, so he tore through them with practiced ease. As he drew closer to the creatures, they too advanced on him. Intent on surrounding him. Of course Brago wasn't going to let that happen.

A memory suddenly flashed through his mind, causing him to pause. It was a woman, a woman Brago didn't remember ever meeting. Then the woman changed from human to one of these humanoid creatures. The time of this memory wasn't more than a few seconds, but as Brago snapped back into reality he found himself tackled to the ground by one of the creatures. It sunk its teeth into his left shoulder and Brago bit back a cry of pain.

The other creatures were advancing on the pinned Brago. But his instincts kicked in and he twisted underneath the creature, causing its teeth to rip more skin. The twist gave him just enough room to stab the creature in the chest, which he did quickly. He shoved the creature off and got to his feet. Both swords were still in his hands, despite the damage done to his shoulder. "Who's next?" He said in a menacingly low voice.

With his mind back in the battle the whole thing didn't take very long. Though these things were strong, they didn't stand a chance again a trained Vulai warrior. Once he was sure that the things were all dead he examined the camp. Bodies from the creatures and the highwaymen were all over the place. "Is everyone all right?" He called to his band.

Sarah walked over to Brago and Riysal as Riysal was bandaging his wound. Sarah looked at them and said, '' I'm sorry I wasn't here to fight. If I was here, they all would have been killed. Sarah looked at Riysal and said,'' That's impossible for you to be one of those monsters. I believe you Riysal.'' Sarah smiled ad put her satchel on her shoulder, she sheathed her sword and grabbed her tent, and put it on the cart. Sarah walked back over to Riysal and Brago, she then said, '' [b] I know I'm newer, but I won't let anything happen to the both of you. I lost my family, and I have to get to my sister. I'll do whatever it takes to get there.'' Sarah said as she scanned the area, making sure no man eaters or highway men were around.

Brago watched as Gul began to leave, keeping an eye on him in case he did anything. "I wont have your band attack. But be aware, other tribes might be lingering behind corners once you reach the plainlands." Brago dipped his head in a respectful manner. "Thank you." He sat patiently as Riysal began tending to his shoulder. Not showing pain on his face at the sting of the ointment. At that moment Sarah returned from, what Brago guessed was, hunting. He had forgotten that she had left during the chaos and was grateful that she hadn't been attacked while she was gone. ''I'm sorry I wasn't here to fight. If I was here, they all would have been killed." Brago put a hand on her shoulder. "It is all right, I handled things just fine. What's important it that we're all safe."

Sarah left for a moment to finish packing her things. When she was gone Riysal spoke up. "I hope you dont believe what he said about me. I do not want to be alone because people begin to distrust me based on silly accusations. Yet I felt you tense up a bit in some of the previous situations. Were you being plagued by the past? Did it clear up the blur in your memory? Or would you rather not talk about it?." Brago tensed up a bit at the mention of memories. He quickly decided it would be best to talk with her a little. "Of course I don't believe what he said, I'm sure the resemblance is from the fact that both your tribes are from the same place." He took a breath before continuing. "I guess I was. All I saw was a flash of a woman. A woman who had the silver hair and yellow eyes of those maneaters. But that's it. Its as if my mind doesn't want me to remember."

It was then that Sarah returned, causing him to go quiet. He had known Riysal for a very long time and was more comfortable talking to her. And yet, he still wasn't comfortable talking to her. Just more so than anyone else. "I know I'm newer, but I won't let anything happen to the both of you. I lost my family, and I have to get to my sister. I'll do whatever it takes to get there.'' Brago shook his head, "There is no need. It is my job to keep you safe. You just worry about yourself."

"May we continue?" Riysal asked. "Ah yes," Brago turned to adress the entire band. "Unfortunately we will have to skip the morning meal, as it is obviously not as safe as we thought here. Now let us go."

Sarah was walking beside Brago as she had done before. She and the others tensed up when they heard a male screaming. Riysal and two others ran to investigate. Sarah looked at Brago and said, '' Stay with the group. I'll go check.'' She ran as fast as she could, she stood beside Riysal, she was about to ask what it was when she saw the half eaten man eater that they just let go shortly before. Sarah had killed many things before, and she had seen many grotesque things, but nothing this gruesome. Sarah looked away and went over to one of the bushes and proceeded to empty all of her stomach contents. She finished and took deep breaths, bu that didn't help, just the thought of it made her continue.

Sarah sighed and looked at them. She walked over to Riysal and Brago. She stood beside them and listened as they talked. Sarah sighed again and said,'' So, what are we going to do now? Since our only lead is dead, what do we have that will help us?'' Sarah said with obvious dispair in her voice. Sarah was a little tired and hungry, but she tried to make it not show.
