For a thousand centuries, the Lysham coven has ruled the vampiric world unchallenged. They set down the laws of the vampiric state, and those who do not obey are quickly and painfully dispatched. No coven has ever grown powerful enough to challenge them.

Now, however, there is a chance.

It started as a small coven. Just two brothers, Leland and Lucas, and Leland's mate Cristina. But during the last few Harvests, they have grown strong, and they have begun to create more of their kind. Building a family.
With this last new moon, this last Harvest, their ranks have swelled almost to the size of the Lysham coven. And Lucas is beginning to think of rebellion...
Will the Gothshire coven survive it?




VAMPIRES -

They fear sunlight and garlic, not because it can kill them, but because they have extremely powerful senses. Bright lights and strong smells are painful to them.

Pierced through the heart with a specific type of stake; a bloodwood stake; a vampire will die.

Vampires can reproduce with other vampires, or create offspring through the exchanging of blood.

A vampire who has found a mate must be blood-bonded before the Lysham before they can begin their own coven. Once the exchange of blood is complete, each of them is given a pendant containing the other's blood. Divorce is not permitted.

Vampires never age beyond their prime. Any vampire will grow to be about the age of twenty, and stay that way for all of eternity, or until destroyed.

Vampires do, in fact, sleep in coffins. Rather luxurious coffins, actually.

Vampire covens claim a territory; usually made up of one city and the towns immediately surrounding it. They will defend this territory with their lives.

Vampires are supernaturally fast, strong, observant, intelligent, and have unnaturally strong senses. An aged vampire can have an affinity for one type of animal, and can take the forms of two types of animal.


VAMPIRIC LAW -

1. A human aware of the existence of vampires must be changed or killed.
2. Never leave a meal half-finished.
3. Take no mate without the approval of the Lysham.
4. No more than twelve vampires to a coven.
5. Divorce will not be permitted.
6. Every vampire must pay blood once a month to the Lysham.
7. No vampire is to be out between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
8. Any vampire found breaking these laws will be punished by death without trial. There are no second chances.
