a character in “Blood of the Immortals”, as played by Zentose

Description

Isaac Henshawe

Image
Role: Baker
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Appearance: Isaac was well-fed his entire life, he did own the only bakery in town, so he always had a good solid build, and will forever now. His skin is smooth and has a healthy color to it. He kept his hair relatively short and unkempt, and he has a slight beard, but nothing really thick(something he hated from the past century). He is relatively handsome and has a good bone structure, thanks to his diet growing up.
Preferred clothing: Isaac usually wears a simple button-up shirt, of different colors, with black slacks and a black coat. Nothing extravagant, and nothing uncomfortable.
Height: 6' (182.88cm)
Weight: 160 lbs. (72.56 kg)
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Blue

Personality: In the beginning of Isaac's life, he was happy, loved everything about, pretty much everything, and continued living like this throughout the first few centuries of his life. He always chose to see the good in things, but when he started to move around, started seeing horrible things over and over again, that was when he started to become a bit cynical. To this day, he has gone through worse times than most, and better times as well, yet he is cynical and pessimistic, but all together is still a nice guy. willing to help, if he has no doubts, and is always there for those who gain his trust.

Likes: Night, the full moon, stargazing, justice, and pain
Dislikes: Bitter and spicy food, rapists, and children
Fears: Hospitals and dying

Skills: Isaac's only skill before becoming immortal was his ability to read, uncommon in that era, and ride a horse very well, but once he learned of his immortality, he decided to gain multiple talents and abilities. He learned to wield a sword in 1543, and kept up practice with it, so as not to lose skill. He also learned how to cook gourmet meals in 1949, and keeps up practice with it. He learned how to use artillery in the mid-1800s, but gave up on using the skill not long afterwards. learned how to be a blacksmith in 1523 and hasn't used the skill in a VERY long time. Learned about many healing herbs in the mid 16th century, hasn't used it much since then. He can also speak Prussian, German, Polish, English, French, and some Native American Languages, most of them he cannot call upon quickly, but some are like second nature to him. He also got a degree in medicine in 1998.

Weapon(s): He carries an 8'' (20 cm) carving knife with him everywhere, you never know when you'll need it, but his weapon of choice is a 2' 7'' (78.74 cm) Walloon Sword, the handle is gilded with a few rubies in it, and the blade is steel, with the words "To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life."

History: Isaac was born the son of a baker, his father was never poor, thanks to the hungry traders that went through the town of Corebrook. Isaac was destined to become a baker as well, but sadly, he was more clever than that. He learned to read and write at the monastery, and thought of becoming a monk, until he fell for a girl. He had seen the girl, named Nathalie(he grandfather was French), and even played with her a bit, but when he became a bit older, he fell in love with her. After a long while convincing both his parents and hers to allow them to wed, he married her when they were both 15 years old. They lived happily for many years and had two children. She was the first to catch the plague, and she died soon after, followed by both of their children... He cursed the gods for allowing him to live, yet no death came...

Once the Silver-haired girl came to town and granted everyone immortality, Isaac had no reason to accept, yet no reason to refuse either. When he became immortal, somehow, something changed him, seeing as he had eternity ahead of him, he decided not to remain sad and pathetic, but to life on as he normally did, but carrying his wife and children in his heart as he went through the centuries...

After the village scattered, Isaac moved to London and got a job at an Inn as a Bartender. In 1381, he joined in the Peasant's revolt, and for the first time, experienced death at the hands of the British Militia. In the 15th century, Isaac moved to Cardiff, once it was burnt down he aided in the rebuilding and eventually set up a bakery. After a decade, Isaac became bored, and left the town. He started exploring the entire country. In 1533 he returned to London, he lived there as a blacksmith, and after 10 years he joined the military and learned to use a sword. After three years he moved to Bristol and learned to sail, planning on going to the New World. Sadly his plan was cut short by the Marian persecutions, Isaac was burned at the stake for defending some protestants. Thankfully they disposed of his body before he regenerated, but it still hurt, a lot. Isaac moved back to London and learned how to be an Apothecary. He eventually joined the British Navy and aided in destroying the Spanish Armada in 1588.

Isaac moved back to Bristol for a few decades, then moved to London and joined the Virginia Company, and in 1607 moved to the New World and helped found Jamestown. After about a decade living in Jamestown, he left and began exploring the wilderness, interacting with the natives, and loving the hell out of being in the free wildlife. He didn't return to civilization until 1709, he had explored for a hundred years, and now was curious what had changed. He returned to a British Colony in the North, and took a ship back to England. After a few more years of living in the changed environment, he moved to Prussia, which is where he got his Walloon Sword. He moved around that area and lived there for awhile, but moved to France in 1732. He lived there and eventually rose to be a self-proclaimed bourgeoisie. He studied French law and helped a few people out, until the French Revolution in 1789. Isaac was in Paris when it first began, aiding in the attack on the Bastille. During the Reign of Terror, he tried to stop the pointless beheadings, which led to his own execution. Luckily, just like when he was burned at the stake, he regenerated after everyone thought he was dead and no one was around to know otherwise. He ran from the City and returned to the New World, now the United States of America. He lived as any other man in the first half of the 19th century, he even learned how to use artillery.

But living for so long, everything was boring to him. His psyche broke away, and eventually he started committing suicide in increasingly painful ways for the rest of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. He strapped himself to train tracks, shot himself in the head, lit himself on fire, got someone to cut out his heart and throw it in a lake, he drowned himself, he did many, many, things to himself, until 1920, when a woman stopped him from lighting a stick of dynamite in his mouth. They became friends, her name was Abigail. The two became good friends, but never romantically involved. Isaac, as well as every other white American, was gaining a lot of money in the 1920's, for work, he taught people to speak different languages, since he knew Prussian, German, Polish, English, French, and some Native American Languages. When the great Depression hit, Abigail was married to a, now destitute, stock broker, who ended up committing suicide after trying to kill Abigail. Isaac took Abigail away from the town they lived in and took her to Chicago. By then she realized that Isaac didn't age, but didn't bother asking about it. Abigail was gunned down during a Mafioso fight, and Isaac joined the family that was attacked, it just happened to be Al Capone, they slaughtered the opposing family and Isaac stayed with them for a long while.

Once World War II started, Isaac joined the American army, he participated in multiple battles and died multiple times as well. After the war was over, Isaac started to write books about the past from the point of view of someone who was actually there, which he was... With every decade he lived it became harder and harder to stay under the radar, so he did used a lot of money to have fake birth certificates made, and after 23 years he would start using it for about 10 years, then would move onto another one. For the rest of the century he was enthralled with the technological advancements and other things, but continued to write books under multiple fake names until the 1990s.

Isaac decided to go to college and get a degree in medicine, he graduated in 1998, and subsequently went to a hospital and in 2002 he finished his residency and had to move on to another fake ID. He started to study his own biology, and after ten years of study, discovered absolutely nothing different from himself and a normal human. He then moved to Europe and started to live there on the remainder of his money, which was quite a bit since he didn't eat much, didn't live well, and didn't have a family to care for. In 2022 A Isaac started to notice some of the people from Corebrook with their hearts cut out on the news, he started to track down the Immortals and figure out who it was that was mercilessly slaughtering his old friends...

So begins...

Isaac never liked flying, he lived for 600 years being planted firmly on the ground or on a ship, and he always preferred to keep it that way. So when he left Italy to go to New York City, rather than using the typical transport of an airplane, he decided to take a boat, it was significantly longer of a trip, but Isaac felt safer that way. He was lying down on the bed in his cabin, a small 16 square meters, along with the bed it had a couch, a TV, and a desk with a chair. It wasn't particularly florid, because unlike many of the other Immortals Isaac had been able to track down, he didn't like fancy things, he enjoy simplicity, the bare minimum.

He was looking at some files he had put together on his computer-pad, about the other immortals. Most of his old neighbors were spread out across Europe and the US, almost none were near each other, but for some reason, there were about a dozen in New York City. Being the hot-spot of cultural activity, rising above even that of Paris in the last 20 years, New York City's population has been increasing more and more each year. Sadly, many of the people who moved to the city were not "good" people, the crime rate in New York had risen to surpass all other cities in the US, police corruption rising with it. Yet for some reason, Immortals flocked to the city.

In less than a day, Isaac would be in the city, and he would begin to track down all the Immortals there, hopefully the man who has been killing them wasn't in the city as well...

October sat through yet another history lesson on World War II. Something she knew very well about. She lived through it, helping on the sidelines of the battle as a nurse. She didn't like the war lessons. Too many memories of watching her friends die right in front of her. Many of the people who died, she didn't know, but there had multiple occasions where her station was bombed with her and one or two other immortals as the only survivors. She was too good a student to skip class though. She had gone over the information many times and, since she lived it, didn't have to study, but she knew that her d teachers would get on her case if she was doing well on tests and was failing because she didn't do her work. So she knew to do it. With a sigh, she raised her hand to correct a mistake her teacher made. In response, he pinched the bridge of his nose and nodded, realizing his mistake. The other kids glared at her. She sunk down in her chair and flipped open her folder. Despite what her teacher and other classmates believed, the folder didn't contain work. Instead, it contained case filed she gained access to thanks to her part-time job for the NYPD. Why did they accept a girl who looked 17 to be their private investigator? Well... no one cares. They believe her to be a child protege. Someone they know they can count on due to the many times she's proved herself.

The bell finally rang and she escaped from the room just in time to make it to her locker and out to her car. She enjoyed cars. She felt they were one of the best inventions of the new age of man. Her baby blue mustang was sitting at her spot in the parking lot. Bright and shiny, though it wasn't new. She just learned how to take good care of it. She sat in the warm driver's seat for a moment before sticking the keys into the ignition and starting the car. The heat felt good compared to the icy air of her history classroom. Pretty soon, she was going to quit going to high school. If anyone ever asked, she was home schooled. Her stomach growled loudly. Not eating lunch can do that to a person. Unfortunately, she had no time to eat. She had to go to her office and begin investigating the most recent case. The death of yet another immortal. Mortals can't tell the difference, but immortals certainly could. The bad news? October knew the girl. She was going to do whatever it took to stop "the man in black." She was willing to risk her life.

There was a bing in the upholder next to her. The message read, "New detective in from Italy today. Head to the port to greet him." She sighed, snapping her phone locked. Her mustang roared to life and barelled down the road towards the boat ports.

((Sorry if she's not supposed to know he's coming. I figure it'll make a better character interaction.))

When the boat arrived in the port, Isaac slowly walked along the railing, looking out on the ocean. He always loved the Atlantic, much more than any other ocean, he was never sure why, but to him, it had a different aura, for lack of a better word. Then as he moved along his gaze turned to the city, it was enormous, much larger than what Isaac remembered, the buildings went much higher, the Empire State Building was several dozen floors smaller than some of the new buildings, there had even been talk of taking it down and replacing it with a new, taller building.

He felt a small vibration from his phone, he pulled it out and read a text message, it read "A Detective Tyran is waiting for you at the docks, she drives a blue mustang."

Isaac put the phone away. He was able to get into Interpol in Italy after the first murder of an immortal, it took quite a bit of work to get through the background check but, it still worked. There have been four documented murders of immortals in America so far, and a few more in Europe, but they were kept classified by Interpol. After China dropped out of the UN in 2018, Interpol has gained a lot more power and prestige.

Isaac stepped off the boat and walked along the pier, he used his badge and passport to get through security, then saw the blue mustang, near it was a young woman with black hair and reddish eyes. It took Isaac a moment to dig into his memory banks to place the girl, but once he was about 7 meters away and he called out to her and said with inquisitive surprise, "October!?"

She arrived not too long before the boat docked. She knew it had to be the boat since it was the only one scheduled to dock today. She put her car into park and sat there waiting. She blasted her My Chemical Romance radio station and turned the bass all the way up in attempt to drown out her earlier "lessons". She really didn't need to think about.. him. Out of the rear-view mirror she saw the gates beginning to open and turned off the engine. Once she turned down the volume and the bass that is. She climbed out of her car and stood there for a few moments.

"October!?" Her head perked up at the sound of her name. The voice sounded familiar to her. She turned quickly and saw a man coming towards her. He looked no older than 27 with dark hair and piercing blue eyes. She raised an eyebrow at him, trying to remember. She knew his face, but the name took her a moment to place. When she finally remembered, she smiled, her face brightening. "Isaac!" It had been quite sometime since she had last seen him. Being Immortal can have two different kinds of effects on a person. Either time goes too fast or slows down. In October's case, it slows down.

She ran up and met him halfway. "God, how long as it been?" She said, wrapping her arms around him in a quick hug. It was the usual greeting for this time period. "Last time I saw you was at training wasn't it? Or was it sometime after that?" Her phone binged at her, causing her to pull it out of her pocket and check the screen. It was another message. She opened it and snapped it shut after a quick read. It read "The Detective, Henshawe, has made port. Meet him there." She didn't even bother to respond with: "Too late. :P" Whoever sent her the text messages definitely didn't have her pegged.

Isaac was a bit surprised at her embrace, but he returned it in kind with a quick return hug. Isaac was never much of a hugger, but he hadn't seen her in quite a while and the last three immortals he had run into over the past year weren't the nicest bunch... He felt more open with October because unlike most of the rest of the village, they had both lost everything... Most of the villagers had at least ONE family member after the plague, but Isaac and October had none... He smiled then said, "God I can't remember, each decade it gets harder and harder to remember some things... I think I'm getting a bit too old..." He scoffed then the hug ended and she checked her phone, it was amazing how she looked exactly the same as 700 years ago, even now Isaac never got used to it...

Isaac placed his hand on her shoulder and laughed, then said, "You still look exactly the same! And you're working for the NYPD?" He was surprised by this because she still looked 17, one thing that never changes is people judging others based on their appearance.

"You still look exactly the same! And you're working for the NYPD?" he said as he placed a hand on October's shoulder. She smiled and shrugged. "I guess I'm just that good." she said as she moved towards the driver's seat of her mustang. She motioned for him to climb into the passenger's seat. Once he did so, she stuck her keys into the ignition and started the car. The radio, thank god, was turned down low enough for them to talk without having to strain to hear the other. "You don't exactly look 700 years old either," she said as she turned out onto the road.

Neither of them had changed any in the physical sense. They also didn't have anyone by their sides. No one to lean on and no one to discuss immortal things. She had met a few as time went on but none of them stuck around or weren't around her enough. Mentally, they were probably very different since they first met back in the village in England. They had been through so much. War, love found, love lost (at least she knew he had to have.. he would have made an attempt on his life long ago if he hadn't), school, etc. He probably knew just as much about the world as he did.

"Outside we may be the same, but I'm sure on the inside we're completely different..... Anyway, So, New York, huh? Do you have a place to stay? I know it's weird but if you don't, there's always room at my place for an old, emphasis on the old, friend. What brings you to the big apple anyway?"

He was a bit surprised when she inquired as to why he was in the city. He laughed a little then said, "I figured you're superior's would've told you..." He pulled the computer pad from his backpack and opened one of the files on the immortal killings. He then began explaining, "I have been working for Interpol for the last year investigating the killings of immortals, which I am sure you've noticed... The news in America got wind of it and published the four murders in this country, however, there are six more in Europe, one in Luxembourg, one in Germany, two in France, One in Ukraine, and one in Finland, Interpol has kept these murders classified. If my research is right, the highest concentration of Immortals is here, just a few days ago there was a murder in Seattle, so soon he's going to come here and have a veritable feast..." He shuddered at his last comment, he had never personally had to kill an immortal, but he had seen it once before... He continued with his explanation, "I convinced my superiors that this is where he would strike next, so here I am, being forced to cooperate with local police." He smiled and looked at her, putting the computer pad back in his bag.

As he spoke, she listened. Her stomach tightening when he mentioned the murders of her people. She knew about them quite well, though her superiors had failed to mention that was why he was in New York. She was also surprised to find just how many murders had been committed overseas. Speaking of overseas. "How was the boat ride? I been on boats many times before as well. I was one of the few that landed on Plymouth Rock believe it or not. It was quite a sight. Anyway, the ride was nice the first dozen times. The most recent time I found myself getting sea sick. I wonder if it's the new age technology that was doing it compared to the wind and sails or maybe I just built up a motion sickness. Then again.. it could be that I was drunk. Or maybe it was the food. Now that I think about it maybe it wasn't sea sickness..." She rambled on like that for a few moments, being the nervous talker she was when she was around someone she's known as long as Isaac. Soon she realized he hadn't answered her question regarding his stay. "So where did you say you were staying again?"

She rambled on for a few minutes not letting Isaac get a single word in, he listened for the beginning about Plymouth Rock, but after that when she just started going off on a tangent, Isaac tuned her out for a couple minutes and started thinking about the murders... He had to find out what was happening and stop it... at any cost... He heard her ask where he was staying again, he forgot to mention it before. Isaac thought for a moment, then said, "Well nowhere at the moment, I was going to find a hotel later today, but if you're offer still stands I'd love to stay at your place."

He surprised himself at how much he was trusting her. The last immortal he met before her ripped half of his face off and he wasn't eager to have it done again...

October could tell that his mind was in other places as she rambled on. The distant, troubled look formed in his eyes. She didn't ask what he was thinking about for she already knew. It was the same thing that was on her mind. Thank god she had multiple things on her mind. Otherwise she would have rambled on about the murders of her fellow Immortals. He mentioned staying with her and she smiled again. [b]"It's totally fine. Don't worry about it. There's a spare room in my apartment. Just... try not to make a whole lot of noise or cause attention. You look 27 and I look 17... people will start talking if they think something's up. And, with me being a high schooler and all, that will cause a lot of problems.

Isaac laughed at her comment, "Well, I will try to refrain from bringing someone there that might make unsettling noises..." He hadn't actually had sex in quite some time, about 20 years by his quick estimations, not the longest he had been without it, but still by the standards of the age he was in, it was quite a long time... He moved his thoughts to another subject, then asked October, "So, what've you been up to for the past couple centuries?" The comment was so unusual, but it made Isaac smile, because now he had someone to talk to, someone he didn't have to lie to...

October resisted the urge to face palm herself when he mentioned bringing in someone that might make "unsettling noises". She shook her head and kept driving. He asked her what she had been doing the past couple centuries. "Well... A lot actually. I've gone to school more times than I would like to. I've been a nurse in more wars than I would've liked to be in. I've seen death more times than I'm comfortable with. I've seen more of the United States than anyone. I've traveled using every kind of transportation. I've studied medicine, criminal justice, forensics, as well as the arts. I've found love... only 1/8 of that time. I've seen almost every movie. Read almost every supernatural and fantasy story written. I've performed a handful of times. Yadda yadda. Yadda."

"God do I know the feeling..." Isaac said, looking out the window into the streets of New York, "No one understanding..." Isaac remembered Abigail back in 1920, and the multitude of other lovers he had taken over his life span... He shook off the feeling then asked October, "You ever have any kids? Supposedly they get a head start in both mental and physical capabilities... never had one myself, thought about it, but then I just remembered my kids back in Corebrook... I met one of the Immortal children once, during World War II, it was John's kid, the guy who ran the Orchard, this kid single handedly wiped out an entire bunker full of Germans, it was frightening."

October's hand tightened on the wheel and her cheeks flushed. Kids? That wasn't something she thought about. Even though her mind was over 700 years old, her body was still that of a teenager. She was so busy living that kind of life style she never thought about kids. She's met them before and sometimes her lovers even talked about having them, but she never did. "Yeah, I heard about that. I once met an immortal child that was able to take on something similar to that only here in America. I haven't been out of the U.S. since before it was the states. Ever since the voyage in 1492, I've never left. I've enjoyed it here too much. The language is easy and adaptable, the culture is mixed and full. It's a great place to be. I enjoy our government here too, though sometimes the leaders the people choose are strange. Some are just power hungry. It's sad really. I've lived long enough to know that power, isn't all it's cracked up to be...." she paused. "But no. I don't have any children."

Isaac stuck through her going off on a tangent before she finally answered the question with a no. He then decided to comment on her ramblings, "You've been here the entire time?" he said in a surprised tone, "I came here with the ships to Jamestown, left it after a few months and explored the native cultures, I got bored after about a hundred years and went back to Europe, more cultural development there in my opinion... But I eventually returned here after being beheaded during the Reign of Terror in France, dark times..." He then started think about 50 years past that, during his own dark time, but quickly dismissed the thought. He then continued talking, "So how and why did you join the police?"

October nodded occasionally signaling that she was actually listening to what he said. "Yeah. I like it here in America. Europe's too crowded for me. Unfortunately, the world itself is too crowded these days..." She remembered the Reign of Terror. Well, at least she remembered hearing about it. They were quiet for quite some time before he asked why she had joined the police. She smirked. "Its a great story depicting just how awesome I am." She said, turning into the parking lot of her apartment. "I helped solve a murder at the high school I was going to just last year. I had actually been involved in the solving of many places before that, just in different places. I'm impressed no one has made a connection. I've kept the same name for hundreds of years. You'd think someone would be smart enough to discover what I am."

Isaac also always used his own name, yet people just didn't bother noticing, or didn't care, "Yeah, something I've noticed over the past century is a decline in shrewdness, people care less and less for the past nowadays..." He said, this made him sad, for him and the rest of the Immortals lived through that which today's society sees as unimportant.

When the car was parked, he asked her, "You ever tell anyone about your immortality? I was going to once, but she died before I was able to tell her, but I could see she already knew..." Isaac smiled a bit meekly, remembering the woman, Abigail...

((Welcome back. :) ))
October thought a moment as she took the keys out of the ignition. Her arms were crossed at her chest as she thought back. She remembered one person she told what she was. He was her best friend. Owen was his name. She had helped him out of life or death situations, helped clear his name when he was innocent, helped him through girl issues, stopped him from committing suicide. She had done so much for him. One day he asked her why. She told him it was because she loved him. He claimed to have loved her, too. He made her feel alive and young again. They were both in high school. For her it was her 20th time there. One day, they were attacked while on a date downtown Orlando. She was stabbed in the chest and awoke to the sound of Owen sobbing. She couldn't believe it. She'd only ever seen him cry once before and that was before he had tried to take his life. He was shocked to find her alive. She, then had to tell him what she was. An immortal. A being who's cursed to live forever. He became excited at the thought and had even kissed her afterwards. He wanted to join her in that world. She was willing to change him if she had known how. The pursuit to find out the process was what ended his life. He was killed while they were searching for the one who had made her immortal. After that, she vowed never to get close to any mortal again. She didn't she she would be able to live with herself if they had ever died.

"No...I havent," she said, her eyes dark. She didn't understand why she had answered no when the real answer was the opposite. She figured it had to do with the fact that the memory was too painful to explain if he had asked. With a sigh, she changed her answer. "Yes... I have. I loved him. He was a man of many firsts for me.. well a boy. He was not yet a man when he died. He was murdered for trying to become an immortal himself. That's the end of that." Witout another word, she opened the door and climbed out of the car.

Isaac listened to her short tale then thought to himself, You should consider yourself lucky that he wasn't able to become immortal, never wish this curse upon someone else... Isaac started to think about the case then said, "Shouldn't we be going to the Police Station? My superiors told me that I was to debrief the task force, FBI and NYPD alike in about..." he looked at his watch, a device that has gone significantly out of style the past ten years, then finished his comment with, "... 10 minutes. We should probably hurry to your precinct, I didn't bring much so there's no need to drop anything off." He looked at his single bag, simply a backpack.

October Tyran

October's mouth twisted up in uncertainty. "Are you sure?" She asked him, putting the keys back into the ignition. She backed up carefully as she pulled out of the parking space and drove off towards the station. "Just a word of warning," She began, "I'm... not well liked by a lot of the detectives there... Because I'm young and have solved more cases then they have."

((sorry. I know it's short. >.< There wasn't much to say at this point. Oh and they can probably go find Roger at the station. :3 That way all the characters are incorporated.))
