Katarina is a generally happy person. It takes a lot to make her feel distraught or unhappy, and her happiness seems to be infectious. She loves children and other people, and enjoys any and all types of company. To some, she seems 'perfect.' While that may seem so, she actually has no idea who she is. Now, that may seem strange or false, but it really is something that Kat struggles with.
She doesn't know who will love her or why. To many, the idea of true love is at your fingertips is so easy to close your eyes and accept.. but Kat has never really looked forward to that. She's not against it, it just doesn't make sense to her. She doesn't understand the hype about someone telling you who you are going to love one day. What if they are wrong? But nevertheless, she is not one to rebel, and knows that someday in the future she will marry the man who is promised to her and only her.
Of course, that isn't to say she hasn't rebelled before. Generally, she is a normal daughter. She follows her parent's wishes, kept up good grades in school, and was a generally good kid. But when she would rebel, it was usually sneaking out late at night to see Nyeira. Of course, they didn't do anything bad. Usually, they would just spend the night under the stars and then run back home, just in time to wake up for school. But it was the idea that Nyeira was the reason she was willing to break her usual habits and have fun for once.
Kat's personality is very bubbly. She likes having fun, especially when it involves other people. Parties are some of her favorite places to be, especially when she only knows a few people there. This may seem weird to most people, and it probably is, but it results from her love for meeting new people. She is so interested in each and every person's story. Kat can go to a club and stay there for hours and hours, just speaking to different people about the most random things. She has had to be dragged out of a club on multiple different occasions by Nyeira, hurriedly finishing her story about last weekend.
Generally, Katarina is a fun person to be around. She can lighten the mood in any room, whether it be with a dramatic story or by telling a joke. She is very good at having conversations, and when someone she loves is in a bind, she will find a way to talk them out of it.

When Angelina Danvers (then Michaels) found out that her soulmate was her high school chemistry teacher, it was awkward to say the least. She met him when she was only sixteen and he was already twenty-six. They had been leading completely different lives. The two stayed apart, promising that they would not risk something bad happening until Angelina was at least of age. Oliver visited Angelina on the night of her eighteenth birthday, and they talked the whole night. They fell in love quickly, and it wasn't long before Angelina was pregnant at the tender age of eighteen. They were looked down on by society, but they didn't care because they were so happy. They went on to have another child (Imogene Ruby Danvers) three years later, but their first daughter was Katarina Elle, whose story we will be following.
Katarina Elle was her parent's joy throughout her entire childhood. Everything about her was happy and bubbly, and she rarely cried. She always had a smile on her face and friends seemed to fall into her lap. But when a new little girl moved in across the street, Kat stopped caring about other friends. The girls were basically inseparable, which was alright with their parents. Girls need friends, right?
Kat and Nyeira went through everything together. Puberty, school dances, even their first high school parties. Kat is proud to say she knows Nyeira better than she knows herself. Having someone to go through the world with is something that everyone either doesn't have or takes for granted, but Kat can say without a doubt that that is not true in this case. She has always loved Nyeira with every inch of her being.
It pains Kat that one day she will have to marry someone, and be expected to love that person more than everyone she knows. How can the system know her better than she knows herself? Of course, she doesn't even know what she would look for in a man, but that is beside the point.
Kat has always loved her younger sister, Imogene, as well. The two girls are close, and they don't fight often. The problem is that Imogene (Immy) has always been a very shy and quiet girl. She prefers to keep to herself, and is the social opposite of her older sister. It has always been difficult for Kat to connect with her younger sister. While her sister was looking for someone to talk to her about getting her period, Kat was at the beach with Nyeira. When Imogene needed help doing her makeup for the winter formal, Kat was busy planning something for school. Katarina never saw her sister, and Imogene was too afraid to tell her sister to act like they were related.
As a result, the two girls grew apart quickly. They definitely do not hate or even dislike each other, but there just isn't enough in common between them for either to fully admit that they are friends as well as sisters. Kat saw Nyeira as a sister more than her own sister, and thus that friendship grew more and more, while Imogene was left in the dust.
