Introduction
Dear Reader,
Admit it, you have always felt different. Unusual. Out of place. There's no use trying to hide it anymore, because I know. I know everything about you. Where you've been. Where you are at this moment. I even know where you are going.
You don't believe me. You think I am crazy. You believe I am nothing more than a person seeking attention. It is far from that. You are one of them; one of the few chosen people that have been blessed with extraordinary abilities. It is time for you to awaken... Now!
However, when you wake up the next morning, something feels different. Something is different. At first you can't figure it out until you get out of bed. The letter you had thrown away is sitting on your desk. You pick it up to see why it was there. Along with the previous message is a new one:
Welcome back. Believe me now? If not, why don't you just try to get rid of this letter? Go on, think about this letter vanishing.
Your curiosity gets the better of you and you imagine the letter disappearing. The next thing you know, you are waking up on your floor, a woman looming over you. "Hello," she greets. "Welcome to Havengade Heights."
You've heard that name before. It is the most prestigious school in America, and it is nearly impossible to get into. When you sit up, you find yourself back in your room, all of your belongings packed up in suitcases. Someone calls up to you, "Hurry or you'll miss your flight!"
Slowly, you look at your desk and find a pamphlet instead of the letter on your desk. The top of it reads: Havengade Heights: Academy for the Gifted and Home to the Celestian Program
The bottom of the pamphlet has three words, clearly printed in black ink. Believe me now?
The letter was right. You do have strange powers. You have for many years. However, you have no way to explain them. Now, you might have a chance to get some explanations.
Congratulations, you have have been accepted to Havengade Heights, the most prestigious and secretive school in America, and quite possibly the world. Along with this, you have been accepted into the Celestian Program, a international program for only the most amazing people in the world. Below the surface, the Celestian Program is actually used for training the world's first superhumans. You are one of these superhumans, injected with a serum as a baby that would give you unnatural abilities.
Here at Havengade, you will learn to hone those abilities and will be treated like royalty by the world's societies. However, there is a catch, one that you couldn't escape because the moment you broke the seal on that letter, you unknowingly signed a contract. You are forever doomed to obey Havengade's every command that is issued to you, no matter how horrifying. In return, they let you live and give you almost anything you could ask for. Simple, right?

The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 8 authors
Tigress stood there, rather frantically rubbing and tugging on her ears in an attempt to get them working again. They were still ringing rather painfully, which she knew there was little to nothing she could do about. After the boy in front of her seemed to scare Kevin off, he turned to her, putting his hand on her shoulder. "You alright? That looked pretty bad.β
Tigressβ breathing was still heavy from the shock. She grabbed onto his arm, as if he was her anchor to the world. Ultimately, her super hearing was crippled at the moment, leaving her with normal human hearing. It was so much less powerful than her regular hearing, so it was taking her a while to adjust. She knew that her strong hearing would come back after a few minutes, but the shocking difference was too much to bare. Her grip on his forearm was so hard her knuckles were turning white.
After a moment of tight squeezing, Tigress realized if she held his arm any tighter she would probably break it. She let go and took a quick step back, her chest heaving with every breath. βI-I c-canβtβ¦β She stammered.
Tigressβ head whipped around as Harley walked towards them. βWhat a show.β
βH-Harley!β She cried, her voice seeming much more childlike than before. Tigress leapt forward, wrapping her arms around one of the raven-haired girl's, hugging it against her body. She shook slightly, letting out soft, pitiful whimpers. βI-I canβt hear rightβ¦ My head hurtsβ¦β She whined, nuzzling her head against Harleyβs shoulder. She felt much more comfortable doing this to her new friend, opposed to the boy she had just met a few minutes ago.
Aiden did his level best to pretend he didn't notice how the girl was squeezing his arm hard enough to bruise it. He smiled softly as if he didn't feel like his hand was about to fall off. Well, he tried, and anyway she wasn't looking at his face so if he screwed it up she probably couldn't tell. Either way, he made sure to be comforting until she felt well enough to let go. Which should be any moment now. Aaaany moment now. Any... moment... now... Please?
Finally the moment came and she stepped back, a wave of relief signalling that she had let go of his probably-bruised arm. Luckily he was wearing long sleeves. Careful not to let his feelings show, Aiden smiled at her and was just about to say something when he was interrupted by a familiar voice. "What a show."
Both Aiden and the catgirl looked over at the source of the sound. She yelled out "Harley!" and rushed over to the latest comer, the goth girl from the dorm who had 'greeted' Aiden first, then promptly pounced into a hug. With her back turned the boy took a moment to grasp his arm and scream soundlessly, disguising nothing now she couldn't see it and massaging the aching limb fitfully. Luckily she seemed content to nuzzle her friend while he clenched his teeth and took several deep breaths, which as it turned out did absolutely nothing for the pain.
Once he felt the ache begin to die down Aiden looked back at the two girls, whose names he would have to learn pronto. He was fairly certain the goth was Harley, but calling the other one 'the catgirl' in his head was getting old. Luckily an opportunity presented itself just then: The catgirl said her head was hurting. Making sure to only use his right arm, Aiden reached into one of his bags and drew out a bottle of aspirin, which he popped open with his thumb. He held it out as he approached the girls, speaking softly but clearly to avoid hurting her ears further. "Here. This should help with your head."
The bravado was gone from his voice. He didn't hold his head as high or grin roguishly from under windblown hair (well, it was still windblown, but he didn't make a big deal out of it). In all, he didn't look or sound like a walking ego anymore, which was a little disconcerting as he'd gotten so used to it. "Listen," Aiden said slowly, "we really got off on the wrong foot. I don't suppose I get a second chance at my first impression?" He smiled sincerely, gesturing to himself with the pill bottle. "My name's Aiden Dyre. I got here kinda late and didn't know where the dorms were, so I wandered into the wrong one by mistake. After that Kevin stepped in and, well, you know the rest."
As quickly as she arrived she felt suffocated. Seeing it was her roommate made it feel a little less weird, but still pretty strange. Awkwardly she patted the girl's arm.
"Hey. Missed you too" she said, her eyes shifting side to side.
βI-I canβt hear rightβ¦ My head hurtsβ¦β her friend said before nuzzling her shoulder. Harley's eyes grew wide, she mouthed for help from Aiden, who seemed be a bit uncomfortable. Frankly, she was too.
"Okay Miss Meow Meow" she said with a small cough, attempted to get out of her touch. Harley wasn't huge on touchy feely things.
"I have some things for headaches in my pocket" she said after wiggling her way out of the hug. Taking out two of the pills she offered it to Tigeress.
"They should help" she shrugged before her attention was drawn by the new guy. When he said they got off on the wrong foot she quickly shook her head in agreement. A guy walking into a female dorm as a first impression was definitely a bad foot.
"My name's Aiden Dyre. I got here kinda late and didn't know where the dorms were, so I wandered into the wrong one by mistake. After that Kevin stepped in and, well, you know the rest." he said. Harley waved lazily.
"No biggie. I figured it was something along those lines, or your were a peeping tom. Either worked. I'm Harley Beretta, yo-yo enthusiast and Mensa member" she joked, looking over to her feline friend.
"Feeling any better?" she asked.
Outfit
Tigress grimaced slightly and denied the offering of aspirin from her two friends.
βThanks for the offer butβ¦ those wonβt help very much.β She sighed, taking an awkward step away from Harley. She would have to apologize for that later.
"We really got off on the wrong foot. I don't suppose I get a second chance at my first impression? My name's Aiden Dyre. I got here kinda late and didn't know where the dorms were, so I wandered into the wrong one by mistake. After that Kevin stepped in and, well, you know the rest."
"No biggie. I figured it was something along those lines, or your were a peeping tom. Either worked. I'm Harley Beretta, yo-yo enthusiast and Mensa member."
Tigress stood there in silence, her ears still drooping. She looked down at the ground rather guiltily.
"My name is Anastasya... but you can call me Tigress..."
"Feeling any better?"
Tigress shook her head. βNot reallyβ¦ Thereβs very little I can do when my ears get hurt like thisβ¦β She knew there was actually only really one way to help soothe her aching ears, but she felt it was too awkward of a question to ask. Harley probably wouldnβt want to rub the stuff onto my ears anywaysβ¦ Tigress sighed and debated actually asking.
βWellβ¦ there is one thing you can do to helpβ¦β She spoke extremely quietly, her voice being barely audible. Tigress blushed, swallowing hard.
Aiden pocketed the aspirin, slightly at a loss for what to do. Luckily his heartfelt explanation hadn't fallen on deaf ears: Harley waved the whole thing off like water off a duck's back. "No biggie. I figured it was something along those lines, or you were a peeping tom. Either worked. I'm Harley Beretta, yo-yo enthusiast and Mensa member." Aiden grinned, glad the whole thing seemed to be behind them. Well, mostly behind them. He wasn't blamed, that was the important part. Also: Beretta? Wasn't that a type of gun? Awesome name! Not as awesome as Dyre, but close.
The soon-to-be-named catgirl spoke up next: "My name is Anastasya... but you can call me Tigress..." Finally, he could call her something! And Tigress was also a pretty cool name, so bonus points for that. Harley asked if she was feeling any better, but Tigress just shook her head. "Not reallyβ¦ Thereβs very little I can do when my ears get hurt like thisβ¦" But not nothing, Aiden noted. She seemed like she was holding something back, and if he hadn't been paying attention to her (and if it hadn't been for the awkward silence she left when she stopped) he wouldn't have even heard what she said next. "Wellβ¦ there is one thing you can do to helpβ¦"
Aiden stepped forward, smiling. "Shoot. I'm happy to help." Though he knew the whole thing was Kevin's fault really, some part of him couldn't help but feel responsible for setting off the whole chain of events. He knew he'd feel better after helping her with whatever she happened to need at the moment. Plus, he got to look good for a hot girl. That was always a plus.

But, like everyone else, I wish to avoid conflict, so this is my offer: Tigress is temporarily deafened for a little bit(ears ringing at least), stumbles a bit, leaps at Kev in rage, pins him(because he's a master of metal, not Hulk Hogan), someone else intervenes before things get kinky.
P.S. i'm not arguing about backstory either, I'm pointing out exactly WHY he does what he does. Is it wrong to explain why my character can be an ass, yet ends up trying to be decent when not provoked?

And I actually liked your post, Dragon, because you're character actually expressed an emotion that made sense. And you actually described the emotion.
I'm sorry if I sound really pissy but I'm just... aggravated. I want to keep the roleplay going but Thunder's post just confuses and frustrates me.
Re: Celestian
P.S. I don't want to steal the show or anything I just thought it would be a logical solution
Re: Celestian
Star, I know what a pain it is to feel written into a corner, but I'm sure there's a way to deal with this. If there's any way I can help with that, just say the word and I'll be glad to.
Re: Celestian
And those examples you gave don't really prove a threat to Kevin. And you say his control of the iron in humans isn't good, yet he almost killed Ry by accident.
I also don't want to get into an argument about who's character has the saddest backstory.
Oh, and is it in common knowledge to know that a tiger's roar reaches over 100 decibels to someone standing close by and can be heard from miles away? No? Just me, the animal geek over here?
Alright, whatever, I'll look past the other shit. But how do you expect me to respond to that? All of the responses I've thought up are rather extreme and involve either A) Tigress losing control and attempting to kill Kevin, or B) Tigress going partially fucking deaf if that sound is as loud as you say it is. I don't want either of those things to happen considering I don't want everyone to hate Tigress already and I don't want any permanent damage to her hearing considering, ahem, its her strongest sense.
Re: Celestian
Re: Celestian
As for powers, Magneto's power is SPECIFICALLY magnetism, hence the name. Kevin Stihl(pronounced STEEL) controls ALL aspects of the metal itself, including shape and durability. He could have made those gauntlets wafer-thin and hollow on the inside to reverb sound and they'd remain effective. With that same note(pun intended), he can also change their acoustics to vibrate at the same tone as his voice while amplifying the volume as he yells and sound resonates across the surface, something he's declared experience in, much like his blood control, which he's already shown to be mediocre at best(i.e., he can't rip the iron out of their bodies or make them dance like puppets, only change a few aspects of it while it's inside them, which alone can carry him pretty far with a basic knowledge of anatomy). While yeah, I understand upon reviewing the post I made on a lack of sleep that a drop in temperature is out of bounds and will be removed, I also have to point out that I clearly stated in his powers he is fully aware of all metal within a certain range of him, akin to a sixth sense. Before you say it should be unbearable to know where metal is 24/7, realize that your roommate can read minds, so it's kind of hard to let logic control most of this argument.
Finally, Kevin's personality. Yeah, it's chafing, because I MEANT it to be. Kevin has to be the best, even if it means doing stupid shit most people normally wouldn't and even if it turns away a few people. You try spending every day of your life constantly criticized for not living up to expectations set on you before you had self-awareness and not developing a complex. Believe me, it sucks. And the crippling fear of being alone makes it a vicious cycle, where you attempt to build relationships, lose them, then panic at not having friends, so you tend to seek affection in any way you can.
P.S., I apologize for the oneliner, Cordeaux, and to you, Chrian, for not including you, but Kevin didn't really have much to say there, but he felt it necessary to say. I was simply dictating his immediate response to someone waltzing in and not feeling the tension in the area, not giving a set prose on what he thought of the new guy who he wasn't really focusing on so he wouldn't get eaten horribly.
