The Villiage of Chilajara

Colonel Ezra Remmington is one of the lesser known commanders of the French and Indian but in the sleepy little village of Chilajara, he is a celebrity. Not only for founding the town, in the famous winter of 1756 but for his triumphant victory in the following Spring. Chilajara was named by Remington, for the daughter of the local Native Cheif in the area. Legends say that Ezra was in love with the beautiful Indian Princess, and Chilajara would sneak into Remington's camp to meet with him for long hours in the night. When her father discovered her treachery, he had Chilajara executed. Ezra in a spat of revenge for his beloved amassed his men to march on the Chief's village in what is now known as The Massacre at Bearclaw Creek. After the war, he returned to Bearclaw Creek only to find settlers starting to set up farms in the area. There he built his cabin, on the banks of the Pachuquilucan River and sent for his wife Sarah and his three young children to join him from New Jersey.

Now Ezra and Sarahs' decedents claim there was never a physical relationship between Ezra and the Indian Princess Chilajara but more of a harmless fondness for the girl. Which is most likely the case as much like the story of Pocahontas and Capt. John Smith, Chilajara was only Fourteen the winter Ezra (who was Thirty-five) camped near her village. As for her death, which surely did happen, it is believed she really perished from a fever shortly before spring most likely the smallpox Ezra's men brought to the area unbeknownst to anyone. The Massacre is believed to be the result of an argument between the chief and Ezra due to an inability to properly communicate as Chilajara had previously served as a mediator between the two parties. The Truth is far less romantic, but the legend only emerged years later after Ezra's death when people started to wonder where the name Chilajara came from.

Today, the sleepy little village has profited from the legend selling tours in the cemetery of all the great leaders of the County, from Ezra and Sara modest stones to the large elaborate tombs of the Pinker Family, and one statue in the middle of the Cemetery depicting a young native girl looking up to the sky the an epitaph reading.

To the spirit of a young woman who fought so vibrantly to bring peace to her people. Chalajara daughter of Cheif Chelde of The Naanavik Tribe.
-Dedicated on March 3rd, 1945
Donated by, Rickford Pinker III

The Mansion
Image

The Industrial Revolution hit the tiny village of Chalajara with a boom! Quite literally much to do with the large source of Coal found in the depths of the town. With Coal and the lumber industries moving in, the train station was built. People flocked to Chalajara for work and opportunity, incomes Rickford Pinker the founder of the Pinker Coal Company. There would be three major mines in town Chalajara Coal, Bearclaw Coal, but Pinker's company provided the largest quantity of the finest quality. With his new found wealth, Rickford started work on his home in 1846 and despite his massive fortune, he would never live to enjoy the house as one year after it's completion in 1802, Rickford Pinker died of Consumption. His widow, Martha unable to reside in the house that she was to share with her husband sold it to a Railroad Barron, who in turn lost the house in a game of cards.

by 1850 The Pinker Mansion had changed hands nearly a dozen times before Rickford Pinker's son Atticus Pinker bought the mansion back to live in with his wife Emily and their ever-growing family. Atticus added several more rooms to the mansion, including a conservatory, sleeping porch, and wine cellar. The mansion remained in the Pinker family for several generations until Rickford Pinker III, unhappy with his ancestral home sold the house in 1928 and moved into the city. The new owners would have a very different idea for the house, some not for the better.

Hans and Katya Grinkle bought the house in 1928, in hopes of turning it into a high-end German restaurant. Unfortunately, with the ruling of Prohibition, the Grinkle's business shrunk as they could no longer sell alcohol legally. The Grinkle's turned the cellar into a sleazy Speakeasy for their upscale restaurant. Most of the town knew this was happening, to the beloved Pinker mansion but with times as they were there weren't many other Speakeasies around so for a time things were good. That is until the Grinkles brought in a partner into the fold.

Henriette Amore, Met the Grinkles in the summer of 1932 and the three agreed to become partners. Henriette had several girls who needed a place to work out of. Just like that Pinker Mansion was known as a Cathouse, by the locals. This is when some of the more moral neighbors reported the Grinkles and the police seized the Mansion and the county took control of the property which lay in disrepair for several years.

1985: Dick Newley bought the house at a public action in the hopes of restoring the house and making it into a bed & breakfast. After a renovation project that took nearly two years, The Pinker Mansion Bed and Breakfast opened it's doors. For the next twenty years, The Pinker Mansion served as the primary loggings for the sleepy little town, but as Ol' Dick started getting up in years he decided to sell the town's prized landmark and retire to the sunny coast. Will the new owners be able to maintain this Bed and Breakfast, and not alienate the town that helps it stay afloat?

Rules

I know what your thinking, your thinking "This sounds a bit like Newhart" and you would be correct the premise behind the plot is similar to Newhart with a twist that being this is more focused on young adult rather than the Innkeeper. Some places used are real as well, all the town shots are of Jim Thorp, PA and the backstory of Pinker Mansion takes influence from three different stories.
  • Pocahontas
  • The Story of White Hall Mansion in Feildboro NJ
  • The Asa and Harry Packer Mansions in Jim Thorp, PA

Overall the idea came to me wail thinking of my parents' friends who own a Bed and Breakfast in New York. So not quite Newhart after all.

Rules are as Follows
  1. Show Respect at all times
  2. No killing off characters unless giving that players consent
  3. All reservations will be held for 48 hours
  4. Post limit is set at 280 words at minimum

Image The Pinnacles of Summer are upon us, and an army of city-goers are on their way to Chilajara for its peaceful countryside surroundings. For these tourists, the summer will be filled with white-water rafting, tubing, canoeing, Wine tasting, Train rides, Festivals, and maybe a Ghost tour or two if they are truly brave enough. However, for the unlucky souls who live in Chilajara all year 'round, the summer isn't so much a time to enjoy as it is a time to work. Teenage employment is at its all-time high during the peak months, from lifeguards to busboys. Someone has to run these jobs for the tourists after all.

Jonathan Passmore passed back and forth vigorously between the front door of the Mansion to the study. The first day of Summer was not a week away and he the Mansion wasn't booked until July. "Not good, not good at all." he muttered to himself. He had to make this work, He had already sunk their savings into this place, they can't fail with an already profitable bed and breakfast. He just needs to find out how Ol' Dick got it running for all those years. He walked upstairs, to his son's room, and knocked loudly on the door.

"Jacob, are you ready?"

Jacob awoke to a loud banging on the door and his dad's voice. "Ah..." he muttered rubbing his head, as he felt something stirring from under the blankets. "What happened last night," he grumbled. as he pulled away the blanket to find a girl sleeping beside him. She fluttered her eyes and smiled, "Oh yea cutie!" she said as she reached over and kissed his cheek. "Great party last night right?" It must have been because Jake could not for the life of him remember the last twenty-four hours.

"Jacob... Are you awake?" his dad called again.

"Uh, yeah dad one minute." Jake called out and pulled the blanket back over the sleeping girl. "Stay there" he shooed her. He slid on his boxers and went to the door, opening it slowly he peeked through the crack. "Yea, Dad?" he smiled.

Jonathan looked at his son and sighed. "Meeting downstairs, in the entryway all staff."

"I'm not staff, dad." he laughed.

"You are today." Jonathan smiled, and walked away, calling back to him. "fifteen minutes"

Bing! Bing! Bing! Bing! The alarm continues to chime on her phone as Dottie slowly rolls over.

"Ughhh..."

An agitated arm strikes out, landing on one of her four pillows and knocking her Loki plushie to the floor. "Shit..where.. come...c'mere.. UuGHHHH!" Her hand flails around, fumbling over and under the pillows looking for her phone. At last it collects it's prize and the obnoxious beeping comes to an end. A sigh of content is short lived, because just as one sound ends, another begins.

"Dorothy? Dorothy, are you up? Come on down, Dottie, you're going to be late!"

Late for what?

"Dorothy!!" "I'm coming!!"

Two hours later, she stands awkwardly in front of the Pinkler Manson holding one of her mother's homemade apple pies. A glance is given back toward the car where her father has parked and walks toward her. "Dad... is this really..?" "Ah, ah, ah! First of the season, Dot. First of the season~. What's a bit of healthy competition without a pie?" "Longer life without diabetes?" "Dorothy..." "Sorry."

Mr. Slater strides up the steps with a confident grin and a look in the nearest window, trying to peek at what he could get a sneak at. "Look at these windows... tsk, tsk, tsk.." "What about them?" "Well, they... um... could be crystal, you know, with all the money ol' Pinky put in, but no... had to settle for glass... shame... We should look into crystal..." "Dad... please." "Whaaat? Just a thought, Dottie, just a thought." "Please don't mention the windows, dad..." "I'm just saying, they could stand to add some color.."

Kill me now...

Then he was striding inside to the lobby, and she was following after, doing her best to look less mortified.

Mansion Maid
Location: Entryway
╚═══════════════╝
――――――――――――
Just like every day before, Paisley awoke at the break of dawn and immediately started her morning routine, starting with a shower. She got dressed, had a cup of coffee, and got to work.
Her parents were always sleeping a couple hours after she awoke and it just happens that she wouldn't ever see them until lunch time. But today was different. There was a staff meeting and it was mandatory that everyone was there.

After a couple hours of cleaning, she started towards the entryway, in hopes that she wasn't going to be late for the first meeting of the summer. It turned out that she was just early enough to spot the Slater's step through the front doors and began making their way towards the lobby. Their daughter seemed to be carrying a pie.

Is this a joke? Paisley immediately knew all hopes of this being a good kickstart to the summer was headed straight down the drain. No matter how much she didn't want to deal with the drama, she knew the Passmores would be disappointed to hear that she completely walked away from their rivals without even speaking a word.

"Ah, the Slaters, what a pleasure," she started, trying to keep every inch of sarcasm out of her voice. "I assume you're hear to see the Passmores. I'll let them know you're here," she stated before turning on her heels towards their living quarters in the mansion.

Paisley's first stop was the study, where she hoped she would come across Jonathan, but there was no sight of him there. She then began to make her way through the halls, finding that Jonathan was just starting to walk away from Jacob's room. "Mr. Passmore," the redhead stated, retrieving his attention. "The Slaters are by the front desk. They seemed to have brought you a pie," she finished with a bit of reluctance about the pie. A pie coming from the Slaters? Definitely not one she would ever trust.

Jonathan herd a voice from behind him, turning around he saw Paisley standing behind him. He was still getting used to having Staff around, so at first, her voice startled him a bit. "Ah, what the hell is he doing here?" he thoughts to himself. "Thank, you Paisley I'll deal with Mr. Slater." he smiled and turned back around and banged on Jake's door once more. "Fifteen minutes Jacob," he said, before heading downstairs.

Jake, opened his door once more and yelled without looking. "I'm not staff!" his eyes met Paisley and chucked a little. There Jake stood in the doorway of his room, in only his boxers. He coughed, hesitantly then blurted out. "Umm... Hey Paisley, Can you believe this meeting?" He laughed awkwardly. A sharp crash came from inside the room, as the girl currently occupying Jake's bed dropped the glass figurine that had been on the nightstand. "Ah shit!" a feminine voice came from inside the room.

"Quick question..." Jake asked Paisley, closing the door just a wee bit with him on the other side of it. His eyes still looking at her's. "How would you sneak someone out of the mansion?"

Jonathan strolled downstairs and smiled at Tom & Dorthey Slater. Jonathan was by all accounts a very tall lanky man. In school, they had always called him string bean because of his long legs. "Ahk... Tommy, I didn't think I'd see you again so soon!" he smiled speaking in his thick Scottish accent Jonathan always tried killing the Slater's with kindness. Tom Slater had made it a habit of paying Jonathan and his family a visit once if not twice a week. "Honestly you'd think The Inn wasn't doing well since your always up here." he laughed.

Dottie stood awkwardly with the pie held in hand as her dad inspected the lobby for any recent changes, or promotion signs. She felt like her skin was crawling just standing inside the creepy old place... to be fair, it looked beautiful and well taken care of, but... she couldn't shake the image of hookers walking around with fat old men drooling behind them.

As Jonathan rounds into the room, he grabs the immediate attention of both Slaters in the room. "Ah, Johnnyboy! Quite the opposite! The Inn is booming. Stuffed. Full. Only one or two rooms left vacant for the season! We were just coming over to bring one of my wife's pies as a First of the Season... kickoff. Traditional, you know. It's apple. Delicious, really. None like it in the city. We've been thinking about opening up a little bakery for her just off the Inn, but, you know, being tacky and multifunctional is more the Pinkler thing to do, so," he trails off with a large sigh and big, fake smile.

"Anyway, we should get going. Lots to do!" Mr. Slater chirps. "Dorothy, the pi--- Dorothy?"

But she was gone. In place of where his daughter stood, sat only a pie on the front desk of the lobby.

Dorothy pushed open another set of doors, wandering deeper into the mansion. She had gone up in the direction the redhead had left, and from whence Jonathan had come. She could hear voices just up ahead, so she rounded another corner, spotting the redhead appearing to peak into a bedroom moments before a crash was heard.

"And I thought the Pinkler whore-house days were over," Dottie smirks, crossing her arms over her chest as she watches the exchange between the redhead and the guy she couldn't see holding the door almost-closed.

Dialogue: #D61C63
Mansion Maid
Location: Hall => Secret Passage
╚═══════════════╝
――――――――――――
Paisley gave a polite nod of her head in Mr. Passmore's direction just before he gave Jake a fifteen minute time limit. She quickly found out why that was when he told his father he wasn't staff. Paisley was actually a bit shocked. Was Mr. Passmore really going to put his son to work over the summer? It never occured to her that something like that would ever happen.

Paisley quickly noticed he was standing in front of her in just his boxers and saying he was drop-dead handsome was definitely an understatement. She felt her cheeks flush slightly as she heard him part the silence between them. Just before she had time to answer him, she heard a crash and a girl's voice from inside his room. There was no way of hiding what was going on, she obviously knew Jake had company last night and to be honest it kind of hurt a little.

"How would you sneak someone out of the mansion?" Those words she hoped she wouldn't hear from him. Not only did she get hurt by the fact he had some girl in his room, but now he was asking her to help him sneak her out. Of course Paisley couldn't bring herself to tell him no or why she wouldn't do it so instead she decided to help him out, whether it hurt or now. Paisley wasn't ready to pour her heart out to him and now was definitely not a good time to do it anyway.

"And I thought the Pinker whore-house days were over." Of course it would be Dottie. She always seemed to have no shame in picking her nose into anyone else's business, especially when it came to the business at the mansion.

"Yes, what a pleasure it is to see you as well Dorothy," Paisley spat back before she quickly returned her attention to Jake.

"If you want my help you better send her out quickly. I know how to get her out and we can't be late to that meeting. So now or never, Jake." the redhead stated before crossing her arms over her chest, hating the actions she was now going to do.

Jake groaned as he watched Dottie approach them, he didn't like her much not that he really knew her to be perfectly frank. She was cute he'd grudgingly admit, but her whole holier-than-thou thing really got on his nerves.

"Sorry Princess, but you've wandered into the wrong hotel, cheap, gaudy, and overpriced is just down the street."

Zoomed Jake thought to himself as he smirked at his little insult, thinking it was a pretty good jab.

Looking back at Paisley, he whispered to her "Be right back, look after Princess, for a minute we don't want her wondering too far around." Jake said and shut the door silently.

He turned around to the woman who now pulling on her jeans, as she looked over her shoulder towards him.

"Figure I need to leave..." she said.

"Yea, umm... probably best." He couldn't believe this was happening, last night was a complete blur what the hell did he do anyway? The last thing he remembers was going to Mollie's downtown for a drink. Mollie's should really check ID more... he thought, as he watched this girl who he wanted to call Ariel finished getting dressed. She looked at him and giggled, it was then that he remembered. . . jeans he didn't change his clothes just stood there like a big dob. He grabbed a pair of jeans from the floor, and pulled them on, as again Ariel? looked at him shaking her head.

"I'll just take my payment, and be on my way." she said with a sassy smirk. "Should be about four hundred right? that's what you said last night."

payment? Four Hundred dollars Jake's jaw dropped as his body froze for what seemed like days, (but what was really only a few seconds.) Was she... did he really just bring a whore into the B&B without even realizing it? or worse had he known last night? In a panic, he grabbed his pants from the floor and sighed. "Four Hundred Dollars?"

OOC: Sorry about that guys, had to think how I was gonna write that. then the text got confusing so took a little longer to code.

Deep brown eyes sweep, unabashed, down the nearly-naked form of her business rival. Her gaze lingers briefly just above his waistline, inspecting for any signs of a happytrail. Her thoughts are interrupted by the quips she received from both Passmore son and the redhead. Wasn't she a maid, or something here? A carefully waxed eyebrow arches higher onto her head at both responses, but it's the redhead she responds to first... What was her name again? Daisy?

"You really are too pretty to be working here, you know," she sighs in her direction first. "They must be paying you out the ass... Our help are all middle-age women who barely speak English... Aren't you, like... a bit young to be... you know... um... This desperate for work? I mean, I get why he," she gestures to the door,"Has to stay here but... why have you?" Her brows pinch together in genuine confusion before she's crossing her arms over her chest and releasing a sigh, glancing to the closed door that Jacob had vanished behind.

"As soon as I'm eighteen, I'm out of here," she sighs, dropping her arms to her sides. "This has been fun and all, but... I'm bored now. Ciao, Bella." With that, she turns and starts to head down the hall opposite of Jacob's room, intending to go explore unless she's stopped.

Upon hearing Jake's stab at Dorothy, she just smirked a bit and glanced over at her to hear her words, "You really are too pretty to be working here, you know. They must be paying you out the ass... Our help are all middle-age women who barely speak English... Aren't you, like... a bit young to be... you know... um... This desperate for work? I mean, I get why he," she gestures to the door, "Has to stay here but... why have you?"

Paisley was actually a bit shocked that she wasn't fighting back. Dorothy was asking her an actual question. Maybe it was more or so meant to hurt her either way, but it didn't phase her in the least. Paisley was silent for a moment before she decided to answer the girl's question. "I enjoy myself here. This is my family. I'm not going to leave them behind. Besides, the job is a great way to pass time, not as bad as you think it is," she answered. Instead of adding on a blow towards Dorothy, she just closed her mouth. Now wasn't the time for their childish bickering. There were more important things to worry about.

Jake pulled her attention away from the brunette, "Be right back, look after Princess, for a minute we don't want her wondering too far around." Paisley gave a small salute to Jake signaling that she understood and would agree to his terms before he shut the door, leaving her standing there with Dorothy by herself.

At that moment she put her entire focus upon the brunette, just in time to hear her speak up. "As soon as I'm eighteen, I'm out of here. This has been fun and all, but... I'm bored now. Ciao, Bella." At those words, Paisley noticed Dorothy begin to start going farther down the hall to investigate more of the building, she couldn't allow her to do that.

Paisley subtly stepped in front of her, forcing her to stop in her tracks. "If you're bored then maybe you should go find something more entertaining to do than walk around here. There is nothing for you here. Go shopping or get a latte," Paisley stated.

Jacob Hiawatha Passmore

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
"Four Hundred . . ." Jake respoke, still shocked by the amount that was coming out of his mouth. How could he have blacked out, last night and spent that much money? Sure he did have four hundred stashed away somewhere, but it was exactly four hundred, and it was all that was left of his student job over the school year. It was supposed to last him the whole summer, as his father never really paid him for any work done in the B&B. "A Family that works together is a family that stays together." his dad had taken a liking to saying a lot recently. Although that wasn't the correct phrase, and to Jake not even really accurate, however looking at families around here sure made the statement ring true.

"Four Hundred Dollars?" he restated once more, that seemed like a lot for a romp in the bed. At least in this sleepy little town. Back in the City, things were more expensive sure with supply and demand and all, but four hundred? Was she ripping him off or something?

"That's what you said, Fifty bucks an hour." the girl whom he remembered wasn't Ariel, maybe Mea? or Blanche? said to him.

"I said, Fifty an hour?" Jake stated to think that she wasn't telling him everything because he knew some girl back at school who stripped on the weekends (in stripping through college way) and fifty bucks an hour isn't right, it would be a flat fee for an all-night romp, not an hourly thing.

Mea/Blanche looked at him and sensed his confusion she walked passed him and grabbed his notebook of the ground, pushing it to him. "50 an hour" He opened that book and flipped through the pages, it was his sketchbook.

In the book, he saw about fifty sketches of this girl in different poses some nudes some clothed. Quite a few in Malone's down the street. He didn't pick up a whore in the night, but a model. Oh! he said laughing a bit. he set the sketchbook down on the bed, then pulled his wallet from the nightstand. A model was another thing, and fifty bucks an hour to stand still to be still for more than fifteen minutes was very fair. He properly didn't think she'd be here eight hours. He laughed, looking at his wallet then frowned. He truly only thought he'd need a hundred last night, as he looked at the one shy Franklin sitting next to twin Lincolns.

He closed his wallet and smiled, "Of course I'm willing to give you the full amount we promised but I doubt we were working a full eight hours last night. he smiled placing his hand on her shoulder.

"Are you trying to cheat me out of two hundred bucks." she gasped slapping him across the face as he reached for her.

Jake stumbled a little and shook his head. Ouch, what the hell he thought and he thought he stepped back with his hands up. "I'm sorry, I only mean. . ." before he could finish she was already heading for the door, yelling something on the lines of "Inconsiderate ass hole! and "I'm gonna call the authorities we had an arrangement." she said as her hand twisted the doorknob opening the door, Jake ran up and slammed the door quickly. "No!" he said, thinking his mom and dad would already have heard the racket wherever they are. "I'm so fucked!

Blanche/Mea's eyes boiled at this, slapping him again she shook her head. "you can't hold me here" and opened the door once more running out, with Jake rubbing his face trailing behind her. She stopped in front of the girls in the hallway, and cried "Let me through he's trying to kidnap me!" her eyes bolling up, clearing she wasn't just a model but a superb actor.

"Wait it's not..." Jake started trying to cetch up to them.

Moments after trying to stop Dorothy from continuing down the hallway, she heard yelling coming from Jacob's room. Her attention was then focused towards his door when she finally spotted a female walking out the room and Jacob quickly walking out behind her to catch up to her. Clearly there was something more going on than what Paisley initially thought. Did he hire a prostitute?

Just when Paisley thought things couldn't get any weirder, words spouted from the mouth of the strange girl, these words she never thought she would hear about Jacob. "Let me through he's trying to kidnap me!"

"Wait, it's not..." Paisley heard Jacob respond.

Her eyes darted between the two people, who seemed to be in a bit of a pickle. Finally after a bit of awkwardness, she spoke up, "If you come with me, I can get you out of here quickly and quietly," she stated, trying to help Jacob out, even though she was completely devastated and confused about what was transpiring at the moment.

Paisley then gave a small glance over towards Dorothy who seemed to be the least bit concerned about what was going on and just went on her way, passing the three of them back towards the lobby of the Bed and Breakfast. The redhead just shrugged her shoulders at her movements and focused her full attention back towards Jacob and the strange girl. I'll just have to talk to Jacob about this later, she thought to herself as she crossed her arms over her chest.

At this moment she spotted her mother making her way down the hallway, seeming to come from the bathroom. "What's going on here. You guys know there is a mandatory meeting starting in less than ten minutes," Joan started before noticing the girl they were speaking with. She had a feeling something was going on but she kept her thoughts to herself and added, "Don't be late," and went on her way down to the lobby.

Paisley nodded her head at her mother's words, knowing she would get an ear full if she were late to the meeting. If not from Mr. Passmore than from her mother.
