Introduction
She was dressed as her station. The daughter of a noble. A long blue and silver dress with her hair pulled up off her neck in loose ringlets.
This was not her stage. She hated dresses and hated even more having to pretend to be someone else.
Everyone addressed her as “My lady” or “Lady”. She hated it. She was in port for her own business that even her second in command didn't know about.
Night soon fell upon the small harbor. The sun setting giving the coastline a hue of reds and orange.
The woman was in a well decorated room as she changed from her dress into a pair of pants and a shirt with leather boots. Her hair tied into a low ponytail to disguise herself as a man.
Walking out of the room and down the hall a few of the men from her ship joined her.
“Captain, what are your orders?” Her second in command looked at her.
She looked at him with a grin. “Plunder and pillage what you can and bring it back to the ship. No stone unturned. I want no one harmed in the process though unless of course they throw the first punch.” Her voice as manly as she could make it.
“Understood.” The man headed out of the house then to dispatch orders.
Within minutes the port was in disarray with pirates running amok. Gold, gems, jewelry, coins, and anything else they could get their hands on lined their hands and pockets.
The woman stood aboard the ship watching the port go to hell. With a grin she watched as men brought aboard handful and pocketfuls of loot.
“Anique?” He said quietly so the rest of the men would not hear him.
She turned to look at her second in command. “What is it Sterling?”
“It's about time to leave.”
“Of course.” She looked upon the horizon with a smile. “Set a course for Dead Man's Cove. I want us there within a few days time.”
“As you wish Captain.”
“I'm going to my cabin I do not wish to be disturbed unless we're under attack or something is wrong.”
“Understood.”
She headed into the door that was behind her and sat at her desk looking at maps and navigating where she could go to as her next target.
Some hours had passed and she was asleep at her desk when she heard a commotion out her door and pulled her coat on and tied her hair in a bandana.
Sterling stood barking orders until she walked up.
“Battle stations all of you!” She yelled to be heard.
A cannonball flew past the wheel missing her and Sterling.
“Damn it.” She growled. “I want chainshots in the cannons and everyone braced for impact.”
Taking the wheel she spun it only to grab it after a few rotations. “No sails.”
Sterling looked at her. “Have you gone mad?”
“Do it!”
The ship finally came to a stop and the other ship crawled up close to her own.
“Fire!” The cannons rang out soon afterward. “Full sails!” The rigging dropped and sails were catching wind. Turning the wheel again she slammed into the side of the other ship as the mast went into the water.
