Ⅱ Eye Color: Ⅱ
Black

Ⅲ Skin Tone: Ⅲ
Slight Tan

Ⅳ Height: Ⅳ
6'4"

Ⅴ Occupation: Ⅴ
Ex-Lumina Fang turned Hermit

Ⅵ Soul Blade: Ⅵ

Manji has no preference for a specific type of blade, He'll use anything that will allow him to cut through steel, flesh, and bones. Typhoon Follows the Breeze is actually two blades. The first blade(Typhoon) is the big blade seen at the tip of the Guan Dao, about arm's length ; the second blade(Breeze) is hidden inside the staff. The tip of the weapon can be detached to be used as a sabre, and the rest of the shaft is a straight two sided blade that is sheathed. The straight two sided blade(also arm's length) Can be combined with it's sheath(the shaft) to become a medium length spear. Manji will often only use Breeze to fight because it is inconspicuous compared to Typhoon which is decorated with a dragon's head. If the situation calls for it, he will use Typhoon or both in each hands; he has never used them combined, but in the case that they are, the weapon stands as tall as him. These two blades are wrapped in cloth separately and worn on his back.

Ⅶ Secondary Weapon:Ⅶ
Manj carries in addition to his soul weapon, two blades; one is a full length katana and the other is a wakizashi which is shorter compared to the katana. He will always use these when he wishes to keep his status as a Chosen secret, which is all the time; those so far who are unfortunate enough to see his soul weapon do not live to tell the tale. These blades are sheathed and worn at his hip.

Ⅷ Blade Magic: Ⅷ
Secular Blade: With the force of the heavens behind his blade, Manji strikes down heavy blows upon his enemies. The more earthly desires the enemy has, the heavier and sharper Manji's strikes become; To Manji, the blade itself stays the same weight. When the two blades are combined to form the polearm, the Secular blade is greatly amplified. Manji's own earthly desires do not affect the blade.

Ⅸ Non-Combat Skills: Ⅸ

➣Origami: Whenever he gets his hands on paper, he will fold it into something.

➣Medicine: Monks taught him many different treatments for wounds and ailments. Many of them coming from the bountiful plants that grow in the land.

➣Flute: When living alone in the mountains often played his flute. And will occasionally do it when he's bored.

~ The Hidden Facts ~

Ⅰ Personality: Ⅰ
♡ Lazy ♡ Carefree ♡ Friendly ♡ Bored ♡ Independent ♡

Like the name of his soul weapon, Manji does not like to be held down by anything or anyone. The wind cannot be stopped by any mountain and will stop at nothing to pass any obstacle even if it ceases to exist as a result. He is fiercely independent and will not be lead by anyone, nor will he be burdened with the role of a leader, even though he has a knack for it since he is so blunt. He says he wouldn't help anyone unless it benefits him, which is true most of the time but he would sometime break this principle and help the person anyways; he actually does this a lot, especially when it comes to women and children. At first glance it may seem he is a lazy bum that would only charge into battle only if he absolutely has to, but beneath his sleepy demeanor, he is observing and calculating anything he can, mainly so he can put as little effort into it as possible. So yeah he's lazy in the end.

Most of his time is spent training and sleeping. Being secluded from everything gave him time to train everyday. He does not want to rely on the soul weapon and believes that a weapon is only as good as it's wielder. Oddly enough he trains at night and sleeps/ meditates during the day, which reinforces his image as a lazy bum. Being surrounded by nature all the time, Manji has incorporated his observations of the phenomena of the land into his swordsmanship and is very wise, only in in that one field though; having limited human contact for many years, he is very socially awkward and may seem strange. Which he is.

Manji is very strange. He rarely acts through logic, but rather what course that requires him to not have to exert himself too much. His diligence related to combat is poor compared to the effort he puts in preparing for combat.

ImageImageImage

Ⅱ The Reason Why: Ⅱ
So people would just leave him alone. Manji, who spends most of his time training and meditating(more like sleeping) in the mountain, has no interest in what goes on in the world outside of his mountains. He has no interests in the events that occur, because if he thought about them, it'd only piss him off more. The world outside of his high elevation sanctuary was the reason he was here in the first place: he felt weak for not being able to change it and escaped up here to give up and live the rest of his days in peace. For about 6 years he lived up there comfortably without a care in the world, other than to slaughter a few shady characters that passed through. Manji was satisfied with what he had, which a normal person would find crazy.

That peace was one day broken, and after waiting for the conflict to pass him by, Manji decided to take it into his own hands to restore the order. So he could go back to doing nothing but eating, training, sleeping, and pooping. His life was utterly crushed when the monsters appeared because he had to do things other than the things listed before. He did't really care(he does care) about how people were suffering, because he was suffering even more from his change in lifestyle.

Ⅲ Biography Ⅲ
Manji was nothing more than a drunk and abusive farmer's son. His father, who was once a vassal to a local lord that was overturned, refused to commit ritual suicide to follow his lord; he was seen as a disgrace in the eyes of the villagers. His father who was one a wise and gentle swordsman became an alcoholic child beater that would hit Manji whenever he wanted. Manji grew to despise his abusive father whose drinking habits led to his kind and beautiful mother's death, due to not being able to pay for her medicine. During moments which his father was sober, he would teach Manji the proper way of the sword, but when he was drunk, the father would only use sword training as an excuse to beat Manji. Between times when Manji had to tend to the fields, wait on his drunk father, and train/get beat up, he would roam the mountain. Manji was happiest when he was in his mountain: climbing trees, catching fish, and chasing wildlife. Everything changed when he stumbled on the aftermath of a battle. There were tens of corpses strewn across the ground; Manji was appalled at the sight. In the middle of it all was one body that stood apart from the others: the person's robe was dark red from the blood, Manji couldn't tell who's blood it was because the person had arrows, spears, and swords sticking into him like a porcupine. This person must of have stood his ground against all these enemies and slaughtering them all, only to lose his life; however, in their hands, they still held their blades... a wakizashi and a katana. In that moment, Manji could only stare at the standing corpse in awe as something moved inside Manji.

After moving all the bodies into a mass grave, Manji made a little shrine to the standing warrior in a nearby cave where he was buried. Manji did not bury the swords along with the warrior, he decided to keep them for his own use; at the time Manji did not know they were fine blades because they looked like any other blades, but they had belonged to someone legendary. From that day on, Manji would go to his mountains to train using the swords he had acquired. At first he could only wield the shorter blade, the wakizashi, and eventually he was able to effectively swing the longer katana.

At the age of 14, after living 6 years with his abusive father, and building up so much hatred, he finally decided to release his grudge: by challenging his father to a duel. The father was enraged and severed all ties with Manji , calling his son a fool, and his mother a bitch for giving birth to such a useless son. Manji snapped and drew his newly found blades on his father. Even when drunk the father still held his own against the wild Manji; the father was clearly more experienced. The father slashed Manji's forehead giving him a scar that he will wear to his grave. Manji was told to give up and beg for forgiveness and maybe he'll keep Manji as a servant or even a dog. The thing that moved inside Manji before, now moved faster and gave him the raw power to strike at the father's feet where he stood over the fallen son.

Standing over what used to be his father, now a legless rodent screaming in a pool of blood, Manji poised for the final blow and without hesitation struck down. He slowed his vengeful blade for a moment when his father seemed to have sobered up for a moment to tell him "Go on to be the great swordsman your mother would be proud of and your father wished to be..."

Manji left his village to wander, eventually joining a gang of roaming bandits. He was an unhappy child, who only killed others to fill the void that was growing inside of him. Manji lacked a purpose. One day the bandits decided to burn his hometown to the ground due to them not complying to their demands. The orders were to slaughter every man and capture all the women and children. There was little Manji could do to stop the bloodshed of those who once were his neighbors; he did not care to prevent it either, as he blankly stared into the begging eyes of the villagers. Unfortunately, the Lumina Fang were in the area and attacked the bandit raid, killing everyone, bandits and villagers alike. The leader of the platoon of Lumina Fang liked Manji's cold stare and decided to spare and recruit him into the guard. From then on, Manji killed for the Lumina Fang. He experienced many battles and witness many atrocities committed by the group, but did not even bat an eye.

Till one day he suddenly felt nauseous, and his head felt like it was going to empty all of its contents onto the walls; Manji felt all the emotions he had ignored for the past 4 years he rode with the bandits and the Lumina Fang thaw and release so much heat it was unbearable. It was that moment which his Soul Blade manifested. Remembering all the crimes he had committed, he tried his best to correct them by protecting as many people as possible while in the Lumina Fang, but it was impossible: Manji had to get away.

So he defected and ran From the Lumina Fang for years before finally gaining sanctuary in his mountains. At that point, Manji did not want to bother with the world outside anymore.

"Ah geez... Look at how many guards there are at the gate," Manji scratches his head in frustration, "Its as if they're expecting someone."

He was scouting the area from afar; things were looking pretty grim, getting into Tier Lumina unnoticed will be difficult. He could probably think of something if he had more time, but whatever made him come here told him that he had to be inside today. There were many problems with simply walking through the gate: First off, Manji was a wanted man by the Lumina Fang, he's unsure if they would recognize him; Second the soul weapons on his back, does the Lumina Fang know of the existence of Soul Blades? If they did, they would probably want them. He cursed that unknown power that lead him here, he had been living so detached from the outside world, and all of a sudden he's back inside it. Perhaps he should take a gamble and walk through, there's potential that'll it'll end up saving him a lot of effort in the long run.

The blood moon was looming closer so the the usual stream of people entering the city was many times greater than normal, it was probably the best time to try to slip in unnoticed.

"Welp planning stage over, time to act."

Slipping into the line at the gate that was furthest from the Lumina Fang headquarters, Manji's travel worn look fit in with the peasants. After a while he finally arrived at the checkpoint where the guards were identifying people and checking their belongings; sometimes they snagged an item they fancied disregarding the complaints of the owners. He'll probably have to bribe them to get through... When it was Manji's turn to be inspected, the guard in charge of identifying looked at Manji's face and showed no signs of recognition. The guard had a boyish look about him, probably around 17 years old, and not affected by the corruption of the Lumina Fang.

"Hah rookie."

Manji was pretty infamous back in the day while he was in the guard and while on the run for being extremely ruthless, guess this guard hasn't joined for very long.

"You new to this boy?"

Surprised at the question, the young guard earnestly replied,

"Y-Yes, I joined so I could protect my family and the motherland! "

Meanwhile, the other guards were inspecting Manji's paired normal blades.

Damn fine blades these are! Where'd yuh get em? These have gotta be worth a small fortune!"

Shit... He knew this would happen,

"My geezer of a master handed them down to me when he passed away." This was true, Manji inherited the blades from the corpse he found in the mountain, which also led him to the path of a true swordsman.

The guard holding his blades took the katana out of it's sheath and took a few practice swings at Manji; Manji pretended to flinch.

"Hahhahaha I like em, mind if I borrow em for a lil while? Hey, what are them wrapped you're wearing on yuh back?"Image

Putting on his bashful act, Manji replied,

"Hhahahhaha sir, you jest. A blade is a swordsman's lifeline, you can't take them from me, how will I earn my food? And these are just uhm... some dried fish from my mother back home, they smell pretty bad so I wouldn't touch them, the smell takes a week to get off." The guard didn't waver his desire to inspect Manji's other belongings, so he had no choice but to act... "EEEEEEEEEXCUUUUUSE MEEEEEEE," Manji unsheathes his short wakizashi that the guard was holding, impales him in his stomach, and giving it a little twist. The guard's face was wide with terror and pain, his mouth agape but no scream could be heard. "I'll be taking my swords back if you don't mind, but you can have my wakizashi if you want. Oops nevermind, I'll need this one too." Manji slashes the short blade that was embedded in the guard's belly and it exits through his side to decapitate another guard that was approaching Manji with his weapon drawn.

The gate was in chaos as guards scurried around confused as to what happened; no one had dared to break into Tier Lumina before, especially through the front door(well this was more of a side door). Having retrieved both his swords, Manji skillfully weaved through the mob of guards and slashed through them; they were like bumbling babies compared to the master swordsman.

Many claim to be a jack of all trades... Manji was not a jack of all trades, but a master of one: master of the blade.

The Azure Tankard, one of Tier Lumina's most popular taverns, was as busy as usual dealing with mercenaries and refugees. The Tankard's second in command in the line of management was Lillith Killian (née Azura), a woman in her late twenties and a mother of one six month old child, and recent widow, as her husband was killed tragically almost two weeks ago during the blood moon night. Her father, Liran Azura, proud founder and owner of the Azure Tankard, was upstairs taking care of the child. His other five daughters, were busy doing their jobs as barmaids of the inn, giving the refugees food and shelter, and on the occasion if eldest sister Lillith was not watching, flirt with the mercenaries. Both Lillith and Liran were mindful of these five as all of the latter's daughters (including the widowed Lillith), were blessed with grace, charm, and beauty.

One mercenary in particular was riding towards the tavern and breathed in the atmosphere of the ever approaching location, which to him would hopefully feel more welcoming then the rest of the city. The whole city felt a bit, stranger to him and he spent his childhood here, what caused the change of atmosphere in the rest of Tier Lumina and why? As he rode he noted the strange looks and glares he had gotten from the King's Lumina Fangs.

"What has gotten into them?" he wondered as he looked behind him towards the gate which he passed through with some difficulty. One of the guards attempted to take his sword and crossbow from him, but he gave them a glare he inherited from his father. It was a look liable to make even the most toughest of men sweat, and he was on his way. He spotted a strange man barging through the guards and actually slicing through them.

"Uhh Obi, we might want to go a bit faster otherwise that fight's liable to get us caught in there too!" The Mercenary stated as he tried to ride but a twinge of guilt passed through him as he sighed and grabbed his Crossbow. "Strike fast and unseen Na'ari's Fang." he thought as he fired at one of the man's pursuers.

"Argh! My knee!" the mercenary looked in shock at his aim and shrugged. "Hey Samurai, once you ditch your welcoming committee come to the Azure Tankard and I'll buy you a drink!" the man shouted to the running samurai as he himself headed for said tavern rounding a corner into the stables of the place. He knew how to get into that stables well. His first job was right here in this very inn. He dismounted and walked into the Tavern.

He breathed in the warm familiar atmosphere of the tavern. He then spotted Lillith and smiled underneath his helm as he walked into the bar. Lillith saw him and sighed with relative disgust at the arrival of another mercenary, and was about to say something when Zianro took the visor covering his face's lower half off. "Hi Sis, heard about brother in law and well, I felt compelled to visit everyone and see how they're doing." Zianro stated in a calm voice.

"Zianro Azura! You idiotic troublemaker! Don't startle me like that!" Lillith replied angrily only to calm down a bit before hugging her youngest sibling over the counter. "You little rascal I missed you. Eight years and no letter."

"Sis, don't scold me, I'm not twelve any more, I'm a full grown man of twenty two and I missed all of-" before Zianro could say more, he felt tackled by five more pairs of arms wanting to hug him, all of the other sisters shouting with glee and happiness at seeing baby brother home.

"Jeez, my sisters have grown...and blossomed?!?!? Holy Crap!" He thought in alarm, and wormed out of there grips before signaling to Lillith to get him a drink, who was almost happy to oblige.

Manji had made short work of the third rate Lumina Fang goons at the gate, many of them lay dead or injured, and the rest fled the scene. Having experience as a bandit with raiding towns, Manji had made sure that no alarms were raised, so He has some time before reinforcements of the crack troops of the Lumina Fang arrive. Scratch that, there was one guard left between him and the city, the young man he talked to earlier.

"Move boy, or I will be forced to cut you down."

The young man was clearly shaking as he held his blade with both hands in front of him. Manji was reminded of himself when his father "trained" him. He really didn't want to kill the kid, so he'll probably just severely injure him... Enough so that he'll never hold a blade again. Looking totally relaxed but ready to strike, Manji walked towards the young man.

"I warned you..."

In that moment, out of the corner of his eyes, he saw a man mounted on a horse and crossbow aimed in Manji's direction. He raised his short wakizashi to deflect the bolt, but the target was not him but the young man's knee. The young man let out a surprised cry and Manji swiftly launched himself at his enemy and planted a knee in his gut, knocking the young man out on the ground.

You're better off living an honest life and being a farmer kiddo

Looking around at the scene of carnage, Manji was feeling satisfied with himself. Despite most of his swordsmanship being self taught, Manji had practiced the fundamentals to the core: his he wasted no movement but at the same time produced raw power. Many of his enemies lay on the ground missing heads, limbs, and lower halves of their body; he probably overdid it. After all, this was his comeback fight.

"Now that that's out of the way... What did that guy say again? something about a Tavern?"

As if on cue, his stomach let out a loud growl, loud enough to startle the people in line that were still frozen in shock as to what just occurred in front of them. Manji wiped off his blade with a cloth; There was some time left so Manji decided to make a lil money for his journey. He took in a deep breath...

"YOU FOLKS LISTEN UP! THIS GATE BELONGS TO THE DEMON SWORDSMAN NOW, YOU CAN CALL IT THE GATE WHERE THE DEMON SWORDSMAN KICKED ASS(well sliced ass.) Also known as the gate with the quickest wait time, just pay me 10 gold per person and you'll enter the city in no time at all!"

10 Golds could be earned easily enough in a day, compared to the amount of bribes and time spent at the gate under the Lumina Fang, this was quite the fair price. People eagerly paid Manji the gold coins, some even thanked him as they passed through the gates. Manji could hear the reinforcements arriving so it was time to go; he had collected a hefty sack of coins anyways.

ADMISSION IS FREE FROM NOW ON FOLKS, THANKS FOR YOUR SUPORT!

There were some cheers from the now greatly shorter line.

Manji lost himself in the crowd of people rushing through the gates, there was no way the Lumina Fang will find him as he made his way to the tavern recommended by the mysterious crossbowman earlier; Manji's hefty sack of coins jingled happily as he walked through the streets of Tier Lumina.

Manji entered the tavern to see a what seemed to be a touching family reunion. He sat himself down at one of the tables, set his sack of coins and "stinky salted fish" on the ground next to the table, and placed his paired blades on the table.

"Oh don't mind me, I'll order a special, so take your time"

Manji's stomach growled again, this time even more loudly.

"Actually make that 3 orders...."
