★ Personality ☆
A complex, if not divided man. Equal parts passionate demagogue, warm friend and ruthless pragmatist, he is exceptionally charismatic, and hardly afraid to use it to his own ends. He is particularly proficient at persuading others to follow his ideals; already, in Deadman Wonderland, he has acquired a small but exceptionally loyal following. On the inside, he is a devoted ideologue.

On the surface, at first meeting, he appears a kind, lighthearted man always willing to assist another, despite his disability. If he sees someone drop a book in the corridor, he'll bend down and pick it up with his good arm. If he sees someone being pushed around, he'll stand up for them. He frequently greets newcomers warmly, and often offers to teach them the basics of combat; many disbelieve that he could ever have been thrown in prison, and far more are disbelieving when they hear that he, of all people, is the feared 'Outsider' - the legendary terrorist who nearly brought Tokyo to its knees. Indeed, a popular theory within Deadman Wonderland is that he is merely joking about his past and was thrown in for angering a judge or some such action.

However, over time, this impression begins to give way. A hint of malice is detectable beneath those grins, a subtle but firm undercurrent of utter ruthlessness. He can, with disturbing ease, go from laughing and joking with his friends to brutally assaulting an inmate who dared to step to him - and then back again - without ever changing his tone of voice, body language or palpable confidence. He claims it to merely be a matter of experience - his is a rather chequered past, after all - but more than a few are afraid of him.

The more perceptive newcomer will quickly realise that he is no heroic, jovial, good-natured veteran trying to give newer participants a chance in the Carnival. Rather, they will see him for what he truly is - a pragmatic terrorist trying to recruit to his own cause.

Interestingly, in the Carnival, he makes a point of always offering his opponent the chance to surrender before combat - he claims that he actively dislikes killing, and has no desire to cut down any more than he has to. To date, none have taken up his offer. The only time he has not made this offer was when he faced Yuki Nagakawa - the fight where he lost his arm.

What lies inside his mind is an even greater mystery to those within Deadman Wonderland. His burning passion and desire to escape this place are clear; he has already shown the willingness to sacrifice individuals for the sake of his cause. Yet, at the same time, he claims to care about them deeply; when he gets news of a friend injured in the Arena, the slightest imperceptible twitch of grief can be seen on his face, for just a moment. After his goal is achieved, he often talks about finding a nice girl to settle down with and letting the world forget that he ever existed. However, his actions prior to his incarceration are exceptionally dark; some of the Deadmen fear that many more would die were he ever set loose.

However, most mysteriously - and most terrifyingly - when asked why he was so devoted to his mission of the utter destruction of the Japanese government, he simply responds with the following -

"Oh, I just wanted to hold a very particular a pretty girl in my arms. That's all."

★ Branch Of Sin Explination/ Abilities ☆
Ares' Will
Capable of physical manipulation of blood within extreme proximity of his body; the power gets exponentially weaker as his blood moves away from his body. Nonetheless, while in immediate contact with his skin, the strength this manipulation could exert was enormous; his raw physical power rendered him one of the most deadly fighters in the Carnival, hence his naming - a lethal bird of prey. Combined with a former occupation that naturally lends itself very well to the Carnival Corpse, he was considered the obvious favourite in his first three rounds, where he typically crushed the opponent within seconds, closing the gap while avoiding any counterattacks and brutalising them in close combat until either they surrendered or they lay dead.

However, his unexpected loss in his third round resulted in the loss of his right arm. Due to his only real area of expertise being hand-to-hand combat, and the obvious difficulties of fighting hand-to-hand without one arm, he now utilises his Branch of Sin to form his missing right arm; due to the distance from his body, it is little stronger than his left, and he is barely capable of keeping on par with skilled humans in combat, let alone other Deadmen. His combat in the fourth round resulted in a close and difficult win, and it has since become apparent that he is but a shadow of his former self in combat.

Betting agents have considered his death imminent within the next couple of rounds.

★ Talents And Skills ☆
*Due to his former occupation, he is decidedly proficient with a range of martial skills - firearms, explosives, and hand-to-hand combat among them.
*His true gift, however, lies in organising and executing complex plans; regardless of his disability, he is a veritable military genius, and his knowledge of tactics is not to be underestimated under any circumstances.
*A gifted teacher - in the short time he has been in Deadman Wonderland, he has already trained Yuki Nagakawa to be a proficient combatant in a range of martial disciplines, including with firearms, despite the lack of access to any.
*Exceptionally charismatic; he can talk his way out of near-anything, and he knows it.

★ History ☆
Almost all of Gai's history remains a mystery, and is a subject of great speculation within G-Ward. He speaks a little of his youth; he says he grew up in the mountains, somewhere around Matsumoto, and had a tight-knit circle of friends growing up, all of whom are dead under various circumstances. He encountered his Branch in his late teenage years - he got in a fight with a gang when one of them shoved his friend, and was stabbed repeatedly, almost dying where he stood. While he claims to have possessed a longheld interest in martial arts, he was clearly outmatched; lying there, he found himself in the process of trying desperately to save himself and stem the bleeding.

He's rather unclear on what happened next, but it's known that it ended with him surrounded by the corpses of seven gang members, two friends and four police officers, and with him having sustained minimal injury. He recovered enough to crawl away, pulling himself into a house where he met a girl - a girl who saved his life.

After that, he refuses to say what happened, although he does not deny most accusations levelled at him. From there, his story is inferred from news reports - horrifying recounts of devastating attacks, a wave of assaults on government buildings across Tokyo and brutal assassinations of public officials. Eyewitness accounts drew disbelief from the public - a man who moved with inhuman speed, capable of throwing cars out of the way with perfect ease, crushing men's spines with a flick of his wrist. While the damage at first led the government to believe that they were dealing with a large, well-armed group of experimentally-augmented super-soldiers, it soon became apparent that this conflict was all because of the actions of one man, and one alone.

The speed with which he struck and retreated made it impossible to track him, and over the next few months, Tokyo was gradually brought to its knees. Eventually, he revealed his demands - that every elected figure in the Japanese government step down immediately, and new elections be called immediately. In this video, he referred to himself as 'The Outsider'. He offered no explanation for his demands, no reason, no story; simply a statement that either his demands would be met voluntarily, or compulsorily. While the response was at first positive, largely in an effort to curb the quickly-mounting civilian body count, orders came down from the top - a special unit was being called in to terminate him, with extreme prejudice.

Unfortunately for him, in his video, it became apparent to Deadman Wonderland's administrators that they were not dealing with any mere soldier - but instead, a Deadman, and an extraordinarily powerful one at that. Four platoons of Undertakers were assembled to capture him, equipped with extensive air and ground support; using a group of schoolchildren as bait, they forced his hand, and after an intensive firefight that levelled a significant portion of the Shinjuku area, he was listed by the presses as Killed In Action.

In reality, he was captured, and brought to Deadman Wonderland. Kept under tight lockdown, he was forced to fight in the Arena, where he won his first few rounds with extreme ease due to his extensive experience with his Branch of Sin. However, his attention was elsewhere - he began building an army. Recruiting largely newcomers, he created a small core cadre of Deadmen. As well as being given a safe space to hone their Branches of Sin, they were trained in other areas - military tactics, firearms use, hand-to-hand combat. He ensured that each and every one of his soldiers was ready not just for the Carnival, but for a war - a war with Deadman Wonderland, and possibly beyond.

Now, his preliminary actions begin to close, and the initial preparations approach completion. His disability, while vastly limiting his combat effectiveness, has done nothing to slow his plans. His soldiers, his friends, are ready; a few more, and he will have enough power to take G-Ward by force. His intentions are clear to each and every person in G-Ward.

Come the sunset of day of his escape, the Deadmen will be free to live once more.

Or Deadman Wonderland, and everything in it, will be nothing but ashes on the wind.

★ Strengths ☆
- A gifted soldier; the source of his training is a mystery, but he claims to have once been an officer of the JSSDF.
- Exceptionally intelligent; both when it comes to plans and people. Whether he has any empathy is questionable, but at the very least, he has a very effective intellectual understanding of what makes people tick.
- Was previously known to be a terrifyingly powerful combatant due to his Branch of Sin. While the loss of his arm has heavily hampered his abilities, he remains a crafty opponent and is not to be underestimated in the Carnival.

★ Fears ☆
- On the surface, appears to fear nothing; he claims that not even death scares him now, although he's been known to joke that the idea of having to eat another plate of prison food brings an existential, eldritch dread upon him like no other.
- However, truth be told, he has a deep fear of attachment to people. In his experience, they tend to die too easily; thus, he tries to stay away from caring about them.
- He's also terrified of dying in the Carnival - of dying for nothing. While the idea of laying down his life is almost a welcome one, he wants to die fighting for something he believes in, not just for the sake of living another day.
- Lastly, he's also scared of cranial damage - while he views his body as a rather expendable tool, he shudders at the very thought of his intellect being impaired.

★Likes ☆
- Good wine; he claims to favour French reds.
- Good food - he seems rather used to living the high life.
- Good conversation. He says that he feels starved of intelligent conversation, and welcomes a philosophical debate on any subject.
- Hand-to-hand combat; even with one arm missing, he remains exceptionally deadly in close combat.
- The sound of his own voice. Not kidding. He just loves the way it sounds.
- Discussing philosophy, particularly that of Kirkegaard, Nietzsche and Sorel.
- His friends; despite his past, he is a very sociable man, and clearly enjoys the company of others.
- His hair. Why, nobody knows.

★ Dislikes ☆
- Those who try to disengage themselves from the world. In his view, either you fight, or you get selected out of the world. There are no exceptions.
- Prison food. He makes this dislike vocal and frequent.
- The smell of city air; he finds it horribly polluted and almost nauseating. As he says, "Say what you will about G Block, at least the air's clean."
- Those who would prey on the weak and innocent for their own pleasure - particularly those who dare to threaten his friends.
- Has begun to show mild irritation at the frequency with which people mock his (admittedly, rather feminine) appearance.

~Yuki Nakagawa~
Yuki rubbed her eyes as she looked around her small cell room. It was another usual morning and it the the same usual routine. She wasn't sure what time it was but at this moment she didn't care. After struggling herself out of bed she went to a small bag in the corner of the room. It had been three days and it was about time she had to take the candy. She took a deep breath as she took one of the few she had. In the wonderland, this was needed to live and people were willing to do anything for it. She had to hide her's or else someone would try to take it. She unwrapped the large ball and ate it hating the bitter taste.

She stood to her feet and gripped her hands slightly already hearing the laughs of the guards outside as they passed through. It was about the time that they released the people of g ward for a little 'interaction time'. Most of them just hoped that they would get into fights so that the guards could get a show. She turned her head to the doors as the guard unlocked it. "Alright Dove get out." The male said. She sighed and began to walk out slowly. Soon she looked around a bit before going to the small shop in the wonderland. She had quite a bit of cast points and she would usually help others with it. Of course, saving some for candy. She purchased a few medical wraps and medicines to keep in her room as well.

Soon she began to head to her leaders cell. She wasn't sure if he had left it yet but it didn't hurt to look. She approached the door and looked around slowly. "Gai, it's me. I've brought wrappings for your arm...." Not a single day went by without her feeling guilt about what she had did to him. She promised herself that she would help him in anyway that she could so that one day he would truly forgive her. She didn't really know if he hated her or not but she didn't really mind the hatred. She could understand it completely. But all she wanted to do was help regardless of if he didn't want her to.

Gai Havelock

Of all the things about this place that he hated, Gai's cell had to be close to the top of the list.

It was tiny. Perhaps three by four meters - a bed in one corner, a makeshift desk in another (a few milk crates and some sheets of plywood went a long way), the door in the third, and his coat hanging on a nail beaten into the wall in the fourth. He could barely stretch his legs, let alone get a good run in. His first priority after getting out of here would be to go for a good run in the rain. Rain would be nice.

Oh, the things you miss when you're trapped in Hell.

He was sitting at his desk, as he so frequently was, this time poring over a 'borrowed' map of G-Ward's ventilation systems. It had taken him four weeks to sneak into the guards' office and steal it, but it was worth it, without question. A pen in hand, he scribbled notes in his own bizarre shorthand, denoting entrances and exits and choke points and angles of attack. Everything was, thankfully, going as planned.

At least, thus far.

He heard a familiar voice at the door, and smiled, getting up; she was clever enough to know not to be followed, so he wouldn't need to conceal his map in the hidden panel in his desk. He stepped over to the door, smiling; as usual at this time of morning, he was fully-dressed in a white suit and bow tie, the suit's right sleep pinned in to minimise its movement.

Obtaining any given set of clothing took him about a solid month of negotiations with the guards, so he made sure that they were nice - a range of suits and a few more casual items, in addition to his characteristic lightweight longcoat. That said, he generally didn't wear that unless on official Resistance business or in combat.

"And how are you this morning, Yuki?" he asked, sliding his door open and gesturing behind him, inviting her inside. He'd gotten used to doing such things with only his left arm available; for a moment, the tiniest bit of anger flashed within him at the thought, but it subsided. He'd allowed this to happen to himself, after all. It was her or him.

The question of why he'd chosen her, however, still remained.

Shiro sat up on the bed sleepily rubbing her eyes. Where was she…? Still sleepy, she waited for her thoughts to gather before she surveyed her surroundings again. Oh, so she was still in there. Feeling a little depressed, she tucked her knees up to her chin, staring ahead sullenly. Hey, ‘sup with that long face? Shiro gave a slight jolt as Shinya’s thoughts entered her, almost hearing her brash voice. There’s no use in moping around ya know! Get up and do the ‘socializing’ thing you’re so good at. “You say it like it’s so easy Shinya…” she muttered slightly, but got off the bed to explore her cell nevertheless. It was somehow comforting to know that Shinya was with her to protect her, at least she wasn’t alone in this hell. “Oh, before I forget.” She strode over to a small bag and took out a piece of candy from it, looking at it with distaste. If there was one thing she absolutely hated, it was the candy. Why call it a candy if it wasn’t sweet? She slowly peeled open the wrapper and stuffed it into her mouth, trying to swallow it without tasting the bitterness. “Bleh!” Shinya took over as Shiro almost choked on the candy, being a reflex that she had developed when she was in an unpleasant situation.

“Well, what an unexpected situation… Now I can finally have some fun in broad daylight.” Shinya smirked slightly as she simply opened the door and ignoring the guards, headed for the ‘interaction time’ How did Shiro even put up with all that nonsense? Even she had only being there for a short while, her patience was slowly being pushed to its limits. Not that she had any in the first place. Well, better let her meet the ‘leader’ or so the rebels said. There were always some people who just didn’t accept their circumstances, no matter where they are. Some just chose to go with it. Her purple eyes flickered as she strode down the halls, trying to find the leader’s cell. She was half interested in that man, being a mysterious terrorist or something, or so she had heard. Getting information around her was not that hard with Shiro around, thank god for her innocent outlook. Mainly because of that, Shinya was able to get so much information without actually showing herself and her personality to others. Now if only she could find it…

She smiled as she saw the male open the door. It was nice to hear his voice after a long night. He was like a hero to her after all and she owed it to him that she could survive and fight on her own. She was no longer a scared little girl. Well, at least not scared of others.

"Well I suppose i can't complain sir. I'm a bit regular as usual." She said before placing the medical supplies on the table. She began to unbox the wrappings while remembering a few things. "I spoke with Sakuya last night. The poor thing is terrified out of her mind."

Sakuya had been a wonderland residant a bit after Yuki had arrived and was in the cell next to her. She hadn't thought much of her but became good friends. Eventually she had find the love of her life here and was not pregnant with a child. She hadn't expected to face the babys father in a Carnival Corpse.

"The boy is healing up nicely from the lose of his liver. Nothing seems to be wrong with him. But i fear that the poor girl may be going into a depression.... It's such a sad thing to see a young girl of 18 pregnant in such a place." She sighed and patted the chair for him to sit in. "She often rambles about how they may take her baby away from here. It's truly a sad thought."

She couldn't keep the girl out of her head no matter what she did. What if they truly did think about taking the child away? Those monsters couldn't possibly do something so awful, could they?

"Sakuya, hm?" Gai mused, glancing back to his papers, his eyes with that slightly-narrowed look they got when his mind was racing through map after tactic after plan. He bent over his desk, picked up a pen and scrawled a few basic notes on a loose sheet of paper, connected by lines.

After perhaps half a minute, he stood back up, stepping over to Yuki. "Due to the small size of the package, I may be able to extract the child prior to the primary plan. It would draw suspicion from the guards, but I will not permit a child to be raised in this hell. Assuming all goes according to plan, escape will occur within two weeks of the baby's passage and Sakuya will be reunited with her child."

Seeing her unpacking the medical supplies, Gai shrugged off his suit jacket and undid his bowtie, before beginning to unbutton his shirt - all things he'd become rather deft at doing one-handed. Living life one-handed was a trial indeed, but one he'd adapted to quickly enough. He found himself going to do things with his right hand less and less, which was at once pleasing and terrifying.

"Keep the two of them emotionally stable as best you can. Both of them present significant tactical advantages," he said, before his eyes softened a little and his shirt fell to the ground, exposing his well-muscled body, criss-crossed with bandages. As he moved over to her, he added, voice softer now, "And they're going through a rough time together, too. Best that they have each other. To find love in this place... a tragic thing, but at once, a beautiful thing. We should all wish ourselves unto it."

She carefully began to remove the males wrappings and pouted seeingt he injury. Everytime she would, it would make her very sad and fill her with depressed thoughts. "You see that? That is all your fault. It's ALL your fault." She thought to herself losing her train of thought before coming back and placing the old wrappings down.

"Y..... Im sure she will be very thankful for any assistance. I wouldn't want to see a child raised here either... Having to struggle to fight for it's life everyday. And if those monster put it in Carnival Corpse, who knows what would happen!"

Emotions were always scary for Yuki. She feared that she would one day hurt the one she loved and maybe even kill them. She hated having those thoughts and wish they wouldn't happen. Soon she finished putting on the wrappings and smiled. "All done sir." She said with a nod.

She soon began to look out towards the cell doors wondering what the other deadmen may be doing. She sighed slightly hoping no carnival corpse was schedule for this month. Or ever. "What may we be discussing today sir?" She said while holding her hands together worriedly. She wished the rebellion would happen soon but she didn't want to rush anything or put anyone in danger.

"Unfortunately, we cannot put it past those monsters not to put them in the Carnival," Gai said, a distinctly sad expression upon his features at this admission - and beneath that, a glowing, red-hot fury. His hatred for the Carnival was boundless; it was those who conducted it, after all, who had stolen his arm. Stolen his ability to fight. Stolen his life.

He gave Yuki a smiling nod as she stated that she had finished her work, and flexed what remained of his shoulder to check that it held; as always, they did. She was a skilled medic, one who could have saved him a lot of work if he'd met her before he'd ended up in this place. For now, he was just thankful that they had a medic - if they didn't, a lot more people were going to die than needed to.

"What may we be discussing today, sir?"

"Call me 'Gai', please," the suit-clad soldier smiled. Better to keep things informal - the guards would be less suspicious, and at any rate, he and Yuki had known each other long enough that a bit of familiarity was expected. That said, this wasn't the first time he'd asked.

"But to answer your question, I understand that we have a new Deadman. We would do well to speak with him. Grabbing Minami could assist; from what I hear, he's young and impressionable. She's rather good at persuading such people."

She blushed and smiled while hearing him. She couldn't help but be formal to those she looked up to. It was a old habit of hers. She would often call the higher up nurses formally as well. She was always use to being polite that way. Calling someone by their name was a odd thing to do to her.

"O-Oh oops... I suppose i can't control myself from doing that." She said with a small giggle. She then nodded. "Alright then, Gai." She said while listening to him. Sher recalled the names and hearing about a new comer. She wondered what this new deadman was like. Hopefully it wasn't a young soul.

"Yes. That sounds like a good idea. The poor thing. Arriving here must be a large change." She said before gasping. "Oh. Minami? Well she may be a bit difficult for me to persuade. She doesn't seem to trust me very much." She said while giving a innocent smile. She only meant good towards all people but she was use to being seen as different.

Gai smiled down at Yuki as she giggled and blushed at his request, a little more genuinely than usual. She was an endearing young woman, if nothing else; he could not deny that he cared for her, and he had tried. He'd lost his arm because of his feelings towards her; he was unsure if he'd be able to sacrifice her, if the time came. He recalled, for a moment, what he'd said to her that fateful day.

"We can't both become the same pawn that's made to fall..."

That held as true now as then. He knew well enough that a lot of people would die when the time came for them to escape; a sacrifice he was willing to make. Every time he thought about it, he felt a pang of guilt go through him; but it was liveable. After all, he knew what their lives were worth. Better to die on your feet than live on your knees...

"Then we'd best get him out of here, hadn't we?" Gai smiled confidently, as he shrugged his shirt, suit jacket and bowtie back on. It occurred to him that while he could undo the bowtie swiftly, tying it one-handed was a skill that was well and truly beyond him.

"I don't suppose you could assist me with my tie?"
he asked, with a little bit of a sheepish grin.

"And I can't see why she wouldn't trust you. You do have something of a reputation, but I don't think that any of us are what you'd call angels in battle. It's the reality of the Carnival, nothing more. But, if you feel that there's a problem, I might have a chat to her. She seems to trust me; something to do with my good looks and charm, I suppose,"
he said, with a grin as he added the last few words. If nothing else, his ego was a rather handy tool for keeping up his own morale.

She smiled and nodded while hearing him. She walked to the door and opened it slightly before looking to see if anyone was there. "Hehe yes well, not all people are as trusting of me as you are. I suppose i only brought it upon myself." She slowly opened the door completely and walks out and sighs slightly. She then smiled before turning to him. "So. Where might they be? I don't know much about the youth so... I don't know what they enjoy doing."

She always spoke as if she was far older than she really was. She was use to belittling herself because she knew that she was a awful person on the inside. However, on the outside, she tried her best to prevent that from coming out and covering who she really was.

She rubbed her chin slightly and sighed. "Well... Perhaps they are eating..... Maybe we can check in the eating area." She said before looking to Gai for approval. It wasn't usual that they recruited but when they did, they always tried their hardest to convince people to join the cause.

Gai let out a little bit of a laugh at this. "Don't act as though we're so ancient, Yuki," he smiled. "On the outside, we'd be still be young. Still running around at parties and drinking our nights away with friends."

He sighed a little as he stepped out, checking that everything in his room was concealed and in-order. With that, he slipped the door closed, hearing it seal shut with a soft click. Deadman Wonderland was, if nothing else, secure - it wasn't as though they could afford an escape, not with the power of the Deadmen on the line. Of course, the designers were only human, and had made numerous mistakes in its construction.

Mistakes that Gai was going to exploit.

On Yuki's suggestion, he made for the cafeteria, and arrived there promptly, the bright-haired woman in tow. He strode through confidently, deciding not to grab any food - he detested Deadman Wonderland's food, after all, and stayed away from it at all costs; he ate what little he had to, and stole the guards' food where he could. Instead, he simply strode right for the distinct sound of Minami's mechanical voice, and a boy sitting opposite her whom she didn't recognise.

"Good morning, Mimi," he said, with a friendly nod and a smile to the young girl, before turning his attention to the unrecognised boy, who - as expected - looked scared out of his mind. He extended a hand for the boy to shake.

"I don't believe we've been introduced, I'm afraid," he said. "My name is Gai Havelock. You are?"

Jay pulled back from Gai, suprised by the blond's presence. Being paranoid, Jay was always usually aware of his surroundings and never had a problem detecting people. Not many could sneak up on him and the more the teen thought about it, perhaps he was far too focused on Minami to react properly. Jay stuttered as he poked at Gai's hand.

"H-h-hello Mr. Have-lock . . ."

Jay was aware of both Gai and Yuki. Gai, as Jay looked at him, was the scary blond guy that completely destroyed at his Corpse Carnivals, only defeated by Yuki. He looked like the type that was suave and confident, Jay's opposite in all regards. However, there was other parts of the blond that Jay couldn't discern and that was the most scariest part about him. Gai was hiding something and Jay was not comfortable.

Yuki was even scarier. She may have been nice then and there, but Jay had seen her fight with Gai. That other part of her, that darker and cruel soul of a creature, was . . . incomprehensible to him. The destructiveness was so far out and joyful in its ability to kill and maim, the mere presence of Yuki was giving the teen a nervous tick to him. Thusly, Jay tried to avoid Yuki's gaze, but sweat when he realized she was looking at him.

"I-I'm Jay . . . Jay Valus . . ."

"Please, call me Gai," the tall blonde smiled. He could see from the start that Jay was terrified out of his mind - scared to death of everything that was going on. Hardly surprising - the boy's eyes flickered between the two veterans.

So, he must've seen what the recording of his fight with Yuki; he hardly blamed the boy for being terrified of her after witnessing that. He'd seen and done many terrible things in his life, but even he shuddered a little at those memories. It had taken more than a little while until he'd been able to look her in the eyes again.

"A pleasure, Jay," Gai nodded. "A shame we should meet under such circumstances, isn't it? But, not much we can do - not yet, at least. How are you?"

Jay gulped; not wanting to appear weak, he replied back as swiftly and steadily as he could. This, however, only served to show how terrified he was of the two.

"I-I'm fine AND I DON'T NEED ANYTHING!"

This was clearly not the case as he had barely eaten for a while. Not only that, but there was also the fact that his lack of candy eating had visibly given him some visible marks on his body. As for what he thought about the two new strangers, Jay was far too paranoid to let his guard down. What if they were here to get him to fight? or kill him? or WORSE! (he didn't know what this worse was, but it was healthy to think of such things) In any case, he didn't need to be indebted to someone that would perhaps use him like a toy. He was already someone else's pawn for now . . .

Yuki smiled as she saw the two males interacting. It seemed to start off well.... She hoped. His gaze on her seemed a bit unsettling. He probably knew of her fight. She sighed slightly hoping that wouldn't come to. She slowly found a seat and sat down next to Minami. Her smile as caring as always. Minami didn't seem to like her either but that wouldn't stop her kindness.

"Good day to you Minami. How are you feeling?" She said in a kind voice. She knew that if she was able to get even a word out of her, it would be nice. She was prepared for her silence regardless. She looked towards the two males and smiled. "My my. Those two. Quite a interesting sight hm? A veteran and a new comer. Quite the encounter."

Finally, Akira had finished his remaining workouts for the day and was ready to relax for a while, and hopefully, possibly have no more troubles with the inhabitants of Deadman Wonderland. It wasn't exactly that he didn't like them, it was more like they hated him for some ungodly reason. Though he had no real qualms with them, as long as them kept out of his hair and away from him. It was a lot less nerve wrecking if he just tried to avoid them at all cost, as he rather not face the consequences of fraternizing with them.

He was ready to possibly get something to eat, and this time he made sure to neatly tuck in his cravat. Whenever he began to near the he heard an audible shout. {Yay, now all the characters are in the same spot}

Minami Sonobe

Minami was silent as she heard the familiar footsteps approach. She didn't dare respond to Jay, aware of the incoming pair. She didn't want to reveal her interest yet since Gai was such a clever man. Perhaps even more clever than she was. She turned her head to search out the recognizable blonde locks that Gai had.

"Good morning, Mimi," he said, with a friendly nod as she met his eyes. Minami nodded in greeting and returned his smile with an equally pleasant one. Gai turned his attention to Jay next to her and she could feel him stiffen beside her. It was unnerving. As Gai made introductions with Jay, Minami looked to Yuki who was tagging along with Gai today. The woman made her hackles rise uneasily and it took effort to tamp them down. Her smile edged into something more playful and she raised a brow. Yuki probably felt guilty about injuring Gai and that's why she was tagging him, however, her devotion went past alliances and obligations. Minami mused over the thought of the ferocious Yuki, the mysterious queen, the two-faced monster, the soldier liking a cocksure guy like Gai. Then again.. Minami turned her gaze on Gai once more and looked him up and down briefly. Gai was handsome and smart. Just the type to be dating a girl like Yuki out in the real world. Minami startled out of her thoughts when Jay yelled, "I-I'm fine AND I DON'T NEED ANYTHING!" Minami didn't flinch or blink even though he had managed to shock her by his newfound boldness.

However, she was yet again shocked as Yuki sat down next to her. She stiffened but kept her posture relaxed as she watched Yuki out of the corner of her eye, her main focus on Gai and Jay's interaction first and foremost. "Good day to you Minami. How are you feeling?" She said in a kind voice. Minami, after several long seconds, finally turned her head to face Yuki. Inside her mind, a battle warred on whether she should respond but finally Minami grinned and shrugged. "Fine. Per Usual." Her voice was calm and friendly but her guard remained up. Minami followed Yuki's gaze back to Gai and Jay. "My my. Those two. Quite a interesting sight hm? A veteran and a new comer. Quite the encounter." Minami snickered in response. The sight, although disturbing, was amusing since her sadistic nature enjoyed seeing Jay ruffled but she didn't like being cornered like this either so the amusement was dampened considerably soon.

Another set of footsteps made her eyes widen. This time she couldn't hide the flinch as she peeked up the hall at the incoming figure. It was the man who had almost killed her. The man who had caused her voiceless state. Minami leaned towards Jay and turned her attention to Gai, choosing to act like she hadn't noticed the incoming company. " Gai! I was helping him already. Geez, you're always being so heroic. Give me a chance to be a hero too." She teased playfully, giving him pouty sulk and a following wink.

Gai blinked once at Jay's outburst, before his eyes softened a little. The boy was clearly scared out of his mind by recent events, and being confronted by him mightn't be doing that much good. That said, he did need to establish circumstances swiftly enough. The boy didn't seem to be of much use, but he might prove surprising.

"You seem to have things completely under control, then, Jay," Gai said, with a bit of sarcasm; but he tried to say it without a mean edge. When he spoke again, his voice was soft, kind.

"Listen, it's okay. You're new here. This is a terrible place; I won't lie about that. We need to stick together, all of us. I'll do whatever I can to help you."

He heard footsteps behind him, and turned, seeing a familiar dark-haired figure approaching. He decided that, since everyone was here already, he might as well drag Akira in as well - what was the worst that could happen?

"Akira! Over here!" he called, waving to the young man. He turned his attention back to Minami as she spoke to him, smiling uncontrollably at her jab.

"I apologise for my own tendency to save the day, Minami,"
he grinned. "I will endeavour in the future to become the villain of this piece, as so to give you a chance to defeat me and claim your right as the true hero of Deadman Wonderland."

Jay felt like a deer trapped between two walls of spikes. On one hand was Minami with her mechanical and disturbingly vicious intentions, rolling off of her like the blood of a freshly made kill. On the other side was Gai and the entirety of his mysterious persona was giving Jay the shivers. All he wanted to do was to run and hide, but that seemed impossible with the way that he had been positioned. Thus, the teen instictively began to pick at his fingers. Perhaps his blood could get him out or he could use it to make them back up or something! Honestly, Jay didn't know what to do.

And then . . . he came.

Three people with seemingly good intentions were one thing, but three people and one cold looking, frown holding man was just enough to tip the scale. It was true; they were out to get him. The first three were all nice faces, probably fake but still nice nice. This new person was showing their real intentions that they were here to make hurt him for whatever he had done. Jay looked around in a panic for a way out. Even if he did squeeze out, he would have to fight his way through around two others and then face this new person. This guy, what ever his name was, gave him chills that almost froze him down to the core.

Suddenly, Minami was leaning towards him with those fake eyes of her's, speaking through her mechanical voice box like a mechanical drone awaiting kill orders.

"Gai! I was helping him already. Geez, you're always being so heroic. Give me a chance to be a hero too."

Jay snapped backwards, almost reeling at the thought of merely touching Minami.

"NO!" he pulled his arms up in an X-shape. His voice was quivering in fear as he tried to keep them all away from him.

Minami Sonobe

Minami refrained from sighing as Gai noticed the newcomer as well. He smile irked her horribly; it was like a burn that was being scratched by more thorns. She already knew what was coming. "Akira! Over here!" Gai waved to the man, beckoning him. She kept the inner scowl off her face.

"I apologize for my own tendency to save the day, Minami," His grin turned her pout into a smirky laugh. "I will endeavor in the future to become the villain of this piece, as so to give you a chance to defeat me and claim your right as the true hero of Deadman Wonderland." Gai replied. Minami waved her hand in dismissal at the statement. She had become close enough with Gai that he would probably know she wasn't truly interested in such frivolous things. "I don't want your job. Just a chance to shine in the limelight too." She responded, the teasing edge to her voice fading as she noticed, finally, that something was very wrong with Jay.

His face was pale even for his pasty skin tone and he looked terrified. No, he had probably passed that emotion long ago. As her gaze bore into him, he raised his hands in a defensive position. His cry echoed through her and she froze, stunned. The fear excited her and made her crave to see him writhe in pain but something faint and unwavering rose to her mind. Something that she had buried a long time ago, a few months after her induction into wonderland to be exact. It was a feeling akin to sympathy, or perhaps more akin to caring. It was a feeling that went beyond her own self-preservation rule and ripped up her teetering existence; baring its teeth to the Minami that only wanted to survive. A name rose to her mind and she felt tiny beads of sweat on her forehead as she recognized it. Saito. She could see his slim form, his stiff back, the tremble of fear as death rode the anger of the students around him. She suddenly felt claustrophobic and she rose from her spot, keeping her gaze settled on Jay.

Two feelings warred inside her. Kill him. Kill the boy and grow stronger.. Something whispered inside her and she ignored it because another whisper brought her to her senses. Help him. A sense of normalcy, you could have it back.. She blinked slowly and then realized she had been frowning deeply in pain. Her smile seeped bit by bit onto her expression as she built up her walls again and she reached down to touch his hand. "Guys. Jay is shy, especially with two cute females here. Oh, and let's not forget our top-beauty queen Gai." She directed her statement absently at the others, her voice slightly toneless but her expression was friendly enough. She side-stepped Gai and gently held out her hand to Jay. "Want to play somewhere else? Its up to you if you want to come with me. I'm just tired of sweets. I want something salty." Minami lied but nobody would notice that if they didn't know her well, and she placed her bets on no one commenting on the fact. She tried to meet his eyes, hoping for Jay to understand that she was trying to give him an escape route if he so desired. If he wanted to brave the others, well so be it. But her nerves had been frayed and she wasn't planning on sticking around for much longer.

Yuki gasped slightly while hearing the slight protest from the male. Jay was it? She sighed slightly recalling the look on his face. She had it as well when it was her first time here. Such a young soul forced to be here. She stood slightly from her seat and shook her head. "My goodness. You two are so noisy. Your scaring the poor thing." She said while giving a slight puffed face to Gai and Mina. She then turned to Jay and lightly placed a hand on his shoulder. "Poor thing..."

Yuki had a feeling he would fear her turn but one thing she always was was honest. She turned to Gai slightly before giving a warm smile. "Gai, if i may, i think i would like to speak with the lad." She knew she had to pick her words carefully but all she wanted was to tell him of their intentions and how much help they could be. Maybe even a peace offering.

When he saw Minami's hand, Jay was indeed scared to say. But seconds passed as he looked at each and every one of their faces. Where was the hitting? the yelling? the pain? He had been waiting for something to come, but they weren't doing anything to hurt him. In fact, Minami and Yuki had sadness in their before going back to trying to comfort him. Was he really in the much trouble? Minami seemed to want to take him out as she began to speak.

"Want to play somewhere else? Its up to you if you want to come with me. I'm just tired of sweets. I want something salty."

Jay bit his bottom lip, he didn't know if he wanted to go, but just then Yuki spoke out as well.

"Gai, if i may, i think i would like to speak with the lad."

That comforted him; Not the sentence mind you, but the last word. Lad - it was a term he had grown fond of when he had been a boy. When he lived under some broken down underpass, there was an old lady that came nearly every other day to feed him. She had always called him lad and Jay kept that word close to his heart.

With a sigh, he pulled back from Minami's hand and looked down.

"S-sorry . . . I'm . . . yea . . . we can talk if you need me to . . ."

Whenever he rounded the corner, he did see three familiar faces, but also the face of someone he hasn't seen before, not even when wondering the hall of Deadman Wonderland. Akira concluded that he was new to G-Block, though decided against messing with him, as he didn't really have the patience to do such a thing currently. One of the faces that he saw amongst the group of people was one he had faced in Carnival Corpse once before, and one, Minami, and the two others, Yuki and Gai, who he has regularly seen as well.

"Akira! Over here!"

Just as he had approached Gai had calmed him over, and he took this and an opportunity to at least get a look at the new guy. To be honest he didn't look like much. Scrawny, lacking muscle, the first thoughts that game to Akira's mind was that he wouldn't last very long at all in Carnival Corpse, though he couldn't say much, given that he still hadn't witnessed his Branch of Sin. All and all, he didn't look like much. So he decided to ignore him from there on. After he had unexpectedly shouted, Akira had noticed that he was really nervous, and whenever he spoke he stuttered. He let out a sigh, and tried to relax himself so he wouldn't look as intimidating, though he still had the perpetual frown on his face, it just didn't look as intense.

Minami Sonobe

Minami waited for Jay to take her hand. She knew he would. He wanted out and she was the best choice. Minami felt triumphant in that moment, especially since her rival was Yuki. However, her confidence shattered when Jay slowly pulled back and responded to Yuki with a weak, "S-sorry . . . I'm . . . yea . . . we can talk if you need me to . . ." Minami watched his expression seemingly relax a fraction and fury ignited in her chest like a lump of burning coal. She chuckled, more for the sake of appearances and drew back her hand, letting it hang at her side.

She didn't completely know what to say after being rejected. No one had even rejected her sweet-natured advances. Not that they had been intentionally sweet. She looked to Gai instead, quelling the urge to grab Jay. She had found him first, he was hers to toy with. Yet, Minami knew that the attachment didn't stem from that, it stemmed from the fact that he reminded her of someone precious from the past. There were no soft feelings or attachment for Jay, just his appearance and manner of behavior. She brought that line of thought to an end as she spoke.

"Well then, I'll be taking my leave. I'll see you later Gai." Minami patted the man's hand in a goodbye gesture, a warm smile lingering on her face. She didn't dare touch his shoulders since she knew she would hate anyone touching her throat where the scar was or commenting on it. Minami briefly waved to the others and then departed.

The girl headed towards her room to be alone. Once she found herself behind closed doors she sighed heavily and flopped onto her bed with a soft thump. For once her thoughts were pacified into the dull murmur here and there and she rolled over onto her side. That situation had gotten out of hand. She had let her guard slip just because a man had flashed by her eyes. Not just any man… Her mind decided to remind her. She growled and closed her eyes, shutting out the light in her room. He's dead. That is the fact. I don't care if that scrawny little shit dies. What happened today, won't happen again. She protested inwardly. Her fury calmed bit by bit as she lay on the bed reviewing what happened. I may be able to control my feelings on what happened..but Saito is different. Of course I would react that way. That's why I was so interested in the twerp from the get-go. Yuki and Gai can have him. That's right. I don't need to be burdened by him. I have to survive and get out of this place. I have to..Her thoughts trailed off as she wondered what or who was waiting for her out there. People probably thought of her as a murderer and she didn't know where her family would be. They hadn't contacted her since she'd been in here. What if they think I'm dead? No. The promoter wouldn't do that..would he? She questioned before she tightened her fists in pain. I would be naive to believe the promoter wouldn't do something like that. She sighed and rolled onto her back and opened her eyes to stare at the ceiling, finding comfort in the neutral color. It doesn't matter. Out there is way better than in here. I'll destroy any one who gets in my way of that. Minami concluded, feeling better now that her morals were steady again.

Minami maneuvered into a sitting position and looked to the flat television on the wall. It was off since there wasn't any carnival corpse happening at the moment. When would the next one be?

Yuki smiled as she heard him. Perhaps she could get through to him after all. She sat down and smiled while patting the seat next to her. "Please. Have a seat with me." She said while removing her glasses and beginning to clean them. She had to pick her words carefully so she wouldn't scare him off.

"You don't have to feel ashamed if you are frightened here. It's only natural. This is a frightening place. She spoke calmly as she looked over into the distance. She watched at Minami began to leave and Akira appeared. "When you've been here as long as I have, nothing truly surprises you anymore.... I was just like you. I was frightened and didn't wish to speak with anyone. I felt as though everyone would harm me and no one would do anything about it." She then smiled lightly. "I suppose that all changed when i began to open up to those around me. We were all the in the same situation. Surrounded in hell. It wouldn't hurt to make a few friends. We only wish to be your friend and we wouldn't dare force it upon you. But, if you ever was for someone to be there for you, we will. We can even train you if you like. We don't like to see new comers getting hurt or failing in the carnival...." She soon reached for a small bag and handed it to him. "Here. A peace offer. On our behalf. I hope it will show you we don't mean you any harm." Inside the bag were three candies from Yuki's collection. Sure, she would need them as well, but he would need them more. Newbies didn't get many cast points so it was only the right thing to do.
