the population of oakson, virginia has been tormented for months. the police department have had no luck. the fbi hasn't gotten involved because the police department is too proud to admit how completely lost they are. and... perhaps because they're suffering in the same way as the rest of the city. you see, somebody by the name of WYLDE has been somehow blackmailing large portions of the entire city. if you have any kind of major secret, WYLDE knows it, and will use it against you. they don't ask for money or power. they just want control. something about them gets off on having this hidden, secret control over so many people. sometimes they use their secrets to manipulate them, to get their own way, or sometimes just for fun. nobody quite understands why this is happening, but it is. most people are too scared to even try and fight back. for months, WYLDE left them in this awful, dreadful limbo, where nobody was in total control of their own lives. but now, things are changing. attacks have started happening. some completely anonymous, with no evidence left at the scene, no evidence of a murder except for a dead body that clearly did not die of natural causes. others have been committed by completely normal, unassuming people, who admitted to committing the crime, but refused to say why they did it. most people have an idea of who could be behind them, but they're too afraid to say it out loud. WYLDE has evolved, and they're only going to get worse. but what can they do without risking having their secrets spilled to the whole city? they've all seen it happen. secrets and faces plastered on billboards, on posters covering the city. they're powerless.
