Morgan entered the engine room when Hannah mentioned that she needed help. The senior mechanic did feel a tinge of guilt for leaving the poor girl in the lurch after heading off for a not-so-quick break. Grabbing a pipe wrench from a nearby toolbox, Morgan followed Hannah to the pipes to lend a hand and some elbow grease along with it.
"Hnngh... Surely they can't be... tighter than that..." came the mechanic's response as they worked to unscrew the bolts. "Look, see? They're actually coming loose! Try getting our Ace to loosen up like that!" Getting Captain Kaiser to crack a smile was easier said than done. The man seemed to prefer keeping to himself rather than going out boozing with the lads. Still, he knew what was going on in the world, and he paid well enough. As the ship was brought into port, Morgan went though the stages of shutting the engines down with practised ease.
"Now then, what say you and I head up top before the others decide to stampede down the gangplank without us? If we're lucky we might be able to bag ourselves some free time in port." The mechanic left the now much quieter engine room to get up on deck, waving amicably to any others present.
