A newly regenerated Eleventh Doctor is hanging from the edge of his damaged TARDIS, which is hurtling towards the city of London. The TARDIS nearly crashes into Big Ben, but the Doctor manages to use the sonic screwdriver to turn the TARDIS away from it.
The Doctor has regenerated into a brand new man, but danger strikes before he can even recover. With the TARDIS wrecked, and the sonic screwdriver destroyed, the new Doctor has just 20 minutes to save the whole world - and only Amy Pond to help him. Fourteen years later, Amy Pond, dreaming of her younger self waiting for the Doctor to return, is suddenly startled awake by the sound of the TARDIS returning. Running out of the house in her night clothes, she finds the Doctor standing in the garden with the TARDIS. He said that he took the TARDIS for a "quick trip to the moon" to break in the engines. Amy angrily informs him of the amount of time he has actually been away for.
Can you Handle the fun?
Obvious and General
The simple rules every RP forum has: don't double post ever, never be racist, make sure your character has flaws [no one is perfect...we all have issues ], try to stay active, be nice to your staff [remember...we control all ], be nice to everyone, if you have questions PM me or another staff member, don't link-spam anywhere but the advertisement board, and there's an image size limit on the sig and post areas [550x600 for post, and 550x300 for sig...this is code enforced meaning you can't really break this rule]. Also, please do not hot-link. This means not host the image yourself yet post it as an image. Someone is paying for that bandwidth somewhere and youβre simply stealing it. This is against the Proboards TOS. Please use something like Photobucket or Tinypic to host the image. Please, and thank you.
Non-Cannon
Some courtesy is always nice. If you can think of a way to get a canon character into this Universe β an itβs not ridiculous - PM the Doctor. Original characters preferred. Oh β and please donβt just play yourself or a character from another fandom. Originality required.
Characters
For every new character you create, please register a new account for them. This isn't to boost the member number, it's simply so that you can keep each character separate. You can kill off a character, if you get tired of them...just let a staff member know, so they can switch the member group of the newly dead individual to "deceased". I would prefer if you didn't delete the account - because it makes threads all ugly. Please do not just create a character, RP them once or twice, then kill them off...and repeat. Try to keep your characters alive and well. As for how many characters you can have - I used to have a cap. In all reality, I believe that you can figure out how many characters you can handle. The only restriction for your character creation (in number, that is) is that your newest character that you made, has to have at least thirty posts, and at least one active thread, before I'll let you create a new character. I recommend "mixing-it-up" with your characters, and not have a billion Time Lords. Maybe have one Time Lord, one or two humans, and an or two aliens. This way there's more variety in the site. Also, don't start doing Rping until your character's bio is approved [it will be fairly obvious]. A side note for people who don't have their bios approved yet: you may post anywhere, but you cannot Rp, or start posting in the plotting areas.
Grammar and Language
There's a special little button called "Spell Check" that enjoys being pushed. It's even on the quick reply! Please use your best grammar and spelling possible. No chat talk! The only place that is going to allow it, is the cbox. Try to keep it out of OOC as well...it's just a pet peeve of mine. Chat talk is like: lol, omg, nvm, brb, cuz, wut?, u, r, y?, idk, etc... As for language, no sexual/smutty speak, but I have a censor that replaces swear words with "#$%^" type things, so feel free to swear (like if something is really $%&#ed up. See? Thatβs how it looks ) As for smilies - keep them out of Rp posts, but OOC they are fine, like " " or O.o .
Rp Content
If you post a one liner, I'll sick a mass of Daleks and Cybermen on you! See the cool little thing under where it says "Modify Post", "Preview" and stuff? It should say, "Word Count: #" When making a reply to any Rp post, I want no less then 200 words - which that thing oh-so-nicely tells you. 200 words isn't much...see?
The Doctor stared into the mirror intently β his dark eyes twitching back and forth, as he attempting to focus on both his eyes, in the reflection, at once. Scanning upward, he noticed his hair. It really did look like he licked an outlet. Maybe a haircut was in order. Or maybe it was fine. He really didnβt care. His hair had a mind of its own β no matter what the length. He could opt to cut it short, like he normally kept it in his previous incarnationβ¦but that really wouldnβt look good on his new body, now would it? Even though it looked like he had undergone severe shock therapy, it suited him β just like his various suits, ties, and converse, did.
With a scrunched up nose, he continued to gaze at himself, tilting his head in various angles β switching between different expressions and emotions.
βHmβ¦Iβm not bad,β he commented, placing his hand upon his chin and holding his face so that the light hit it just right, βNot bad at allβ¦I might even say Iβm a bit foxy.β
He winked at himself and laughed at his own weirdnessβ¦until he saw an additional face in the reflection. He froze, feeling the blood drain from his face.
Word Count: 209
Oops...I went over. The point is, that's hardly anything, but I don't want the newer Rpers feeling intimidated. Try to shoot for several hundred - or even 1,000, like I occasionally do. Get into the mind of the character, or explain what's going on in the environment a little more. Remember that this is the minimum.
Always create threads that people can reply to, unless youβre making a thread in the Solo Board β where you can have a little adventure with yourself. Do not reply to these β they are ONE POST only. You can have closed threads, meaning put a persons name in the title of the thread, or just put [closed] in the threads title if there is a group of people that you would like to be the only people involved in the thread. If the thread is open, put so in the title, so people will know that you welcome all [if a thread starts out open, but you just want to limit it to the people who have joined the thread, change where it says 'open' to 'closed']. Also, try to RP in the past tense in third person. Don't RP in first person-present meaning: "I am walking into the room. Now everyone is looking at me." <-bad!
As for bold and italics, I don't care. What I use, is bold, within unbold "quotes" for what I'm saying, and italics for both what I'm thinking, and unbold text with quotes around it for what other people said. But as I said, do this however you would like. Also, you may have more then one thread going at a time, just make sure that you don't get overwhelmed, and you know what happened first.
Last thing with RP content: Do not do the impossible. Yes, we are Rping with Time Lords, Aliens, and humans [woo]...but no suddenly being indestructible, or gain sudden super powers. Mortality is awesome .
Sex
I think a quote from David Tennant [aka Doctor Who] would be appropriate here [Source]:
"British actor David Tennant insists Doctor Who would be ruined if the Time Lord and his assistant Rose (Billie Piper) started a steamy affair.
'The story between the Doctor and Rose is basically a love story without the shagging,' Tennant said
'As soon as there's nookie in the Tardis, it would all go wrong.' "
His words, not mine. So please...stop trying to get into the Doctor's pants. Okay? There are going to be characters that are more slutty than others *coughAjax* but just keep it to a minimum. As for overall sexual content, please keep it under R. Hugging, kissing, making out, and suggesting what's going to happen next is fine. I'm not saying "All characters must keep pants on!", I'm just saying no smut please. Strategic fade-outs or cutting to "the next morning", is the best and safest route. This rule is because I don't want soft-core-porn threads between an Rper who's 13 and another who's 30. One...that's just wrong, and two, the 13 year old is obviously going to feel uncomfortable...as am I, if I'm going through threads and suddenly there's a thread where two of my members are playing naked twister. So please, PG-13! Violence really doesn't bother me, but still...try to keep it below the point of someone throwing up from what you wrote.
Having your characters chatting about sex is fine though - I'm not saying get into gory detail, but even one of my characters did this - Ajax. In one thread, he's talking to Rose about how his TARDIS has a slight grudge against him, since he basically had sex with an assistant in the control room; as he was still distraught from the Time War and the human wasn't very stable either. Innuendo=fine. Talking about sex life=fine. Everything but "the act=fine. Got it?
OOC: BIC
Outside of the OOC board, pretty much everything should be IC [in character]. Within threads, please keep the OOC to a minimum, and mark it with (('s and end it with ))'s. So if you need to say something OOC, do something like this: " ((OOC: Yay I'm out of character!!! :BIC)) ". Do not respond to a thread with just OOC! That's a waist of post count, and if you need to say something before you post...there is the PM feature that should take care of that
Member-to-Member/God-Moding
Please try to stay on good terms with your fellow members! But alas...not everyone will get along. If you have a problem with a member, do not take it out in post form in OOC. Talk to them via PM. If the situation gets really bad, contact me, or another staff member to help sort it out. Also, please remember if a character hates your character, doesn't mean that the human behind that character hates you. It's called "ROLE playing", people.
As for God-Modding, just don't!. To God-Mod is to control another registered character who isn't your own. Example: "The Doctor rolled back his sleeves and pet the filthy cat. His new assistant walked over and smiled with glee as the thing purred. Filled with a sudden rage, he turned and pushed her off a cliff, not relaxing until he heard the hard thump on the ground below."
If you post anything like this, expect your family to be Cybermen before the end of the night. That post was bad for several reasons. One, is that I controlled the Doctor's assistant, even though I'm not the one who owns the account for them. Also, I killed them. Unless given permission by the person, do not kill their character. If you contact the person, either via PM, cbox, or even IM, you may ask to control their character for a second just to speed things up.
[Unless you have permission] do not control anything that any of the people who you are Rping with you are doing. You may control random people around you, who are literally just made up and needed only for the moment - aka NPCs. This makes a fight-scene extremely hard. Just do the throw and catch system. Say what happened when the other character threw their punches (or whatever), and say how you threw a few of your own...and possibly tackled them too
Another less-known way to God-Mod, is if you use two characters you have made...and Rp...with yourself. You're completely controlling the situation, making it God-Moding. So don't do that
HOWEVER -gasp- you may be in a thread with yourself...under one condition. There has to be at least one other real life person in there. So I can't just have a thread with Ajax and the Doc, without putting it in the Solo board. If another character that I do not play joins in, then it can be in the actual Rp boards.
Ignore a few things when it says site but otherwise basically that.
