Eerie City

Strange murders happen in Kusuke city. Supernatural things start happening, so the police has started a division for these things, but the members know nothing about the supernatural and have to start learning.

983 readers have visited Eerie City since Aniihya created it.

Introduction

In Kusuke city, there have been strange murders lately. All victims had been murdered under unusual circumstances. The first had a chunk of meat bitten out of his arm. The second didn't have any marks on her body and didn't even have poison in her blood. The third had died in the hospital after his head had mysteriously fallen off and so on. The police have made a special division for these cases but don't know that there are supernatural beings in the city and don't know anything about them yet. Among them is a medium who suspects the supernatural but no one believes him yet.

Supernatural beings:

Zombies: There are two types of zombies here. 1. The classical soulless zombie which craves human flesh. Though their bite doesn't turn people into zombies unless the people are killed before bitten. There are only few of these in the city. 2. So called vampiric zombies: By day they look like normal humans and act like normal humans. They even think like normal humans, most of the time. But they don't have a heartbeat. At night they need to feed on blood at least once and don't necessarily need to kill to get blood. Their true undead appearance is revealed in the moonlight.

Vampires: First off, vampires don't sparkle. They might seem to appear as humans during the time they come out: night. But they are very malicious beings.

Ghosts: There are many of them in the city, but only special humans and the undead can see them. Each ghost has a reason not to move on.

Succubi: Succubi are people/demons that attract the young to suck out some of their life energy. Most succubi aren't evil since they don't kill and only need a bit life energy to survive. They can be proven as worthy allies.

Demons: There are some demons in Kusuke city. Most of them are evil but some aren't. They are hard to fight and hard to kill but they aren't immortal.

It was dark. A bum was in an alley sleeping. A noise was heard. The noise had woken him up. He saw a woman but the woman then bit his neck. She feed off his blood but only left enough blood in him to not kill him. The woman wiped the blood off her mouth. Luckily it was cloudy otherwise she would immediately identified as undead in the moon light. The woman was the young police commissioner Amisa Jukudo. She headed back to the police station. She always left her apartment at night to get herself a morning sip of blood, breakfast and then head to work. But she didnt know how long she could still hide her true appearance or the fact that she wasnt among the "living". Amisa entered the police station with a bag of hashbrowns and sausage in her hand and sat down in her office.

"Hahaha! This shit's REAL!?" A tall blond man laughed at a pair of photographs he was holding in his hand's, he reclined back in a deep red velvet arm chair, located near a freestanding fireplace in the center of a cavernous living room. To his side there was ceiling high plate glass window showing an amazing view over the bright lights of Kusuke City.
"You're absolutely sure?" the man reiterated, "I mean... just look at these things..."
He tossed the photographs onto the low glass coffee table in front of him, before taking a drag from the cigarette that was hanging from his mouth. The photographs showed a pair of mutilated corpses, shredded beyond recognition.
"A wild animal could have done this for all we know..."
"No." A womans voice cut clearly through the room, "My source claims the autopsy showed the marks were not made by any animal, it was a human who did this."
The man ran his hand through his hair, "Jesus..."
"Bringing back some bad memories?" The woman questioned affrontingly.
"Shaddap... How do you even know about that?" The man spat.
"I know much more than you think, Jacob." The woman stepped out of the shadows into the glow cast by the fireplace. She was pale, slender, and elegantly shaped, with slight curves that stood out through her black cocktail dress. Her dark brown hair was tied up into a bun, with a lock of hair left over her forehead.
"You would wouldn't you Eve." Jacob mumbled, "Oh well, I'll take my leave..."
He stood up, the paused for a second, then snatched up the photographs, and the manila file on the table, "I think I'll take these too."
"Don't get yourself killed Jake," The woman said, with a pained expression on her face.
"You... You actually have human feelings?" Jackal stuttered, sarcastically.
"Yes, I have feelings... I really really care... About all the misplaced money you are foolishly throwing in my direction in hopes I lead you somewhere!" The woman laughed, "Now go get yourself a nice story."

Claire walked through a thin, aged alley way that seemed to go on forever. But as the light of day shone on part of the walls she noticed droplets of blood. She then bent down to take a better look and dabbled her gloved finger in one. ''Still fresh, a hour or so ago.'' She then looked around and a hand grabbed her wraist with a hard grip. ''Help me....help me....'' A man called out, his skin seemed to peel off and his body extremely malnourished. But for a homeless man. It was odd. Then Claire noticed a bite wound. He was so pale. Near death even. She then called a ambulance and he was drove away. She took a picture of his wounds and the alley way however. She was a undercover Agent for FBI. She was undercover as a police officer at the nearest police station. As she got to the police station she waved to the front deskers and headed inot her office.

Grey bent over slightly as he tried to catch his breath. But of course he had no breath to catch. After all these years of knowing what he was the odd human echo appeared in his actions. This thought made him stop his night of running and he laid down on the roof top he had just jumped on. Grey was an old hand at this lifestyle, in the past he would go out in the mid of night to feast uncontrollably on whoever he could find. He used to keep record of how peoples reactions of him had changed through the centuries. A slightly stalker and a mass murderer of types. But after a great amount of time he learnt to control such impulses. Part of that control came from stealing from local blood banks and running out his frustration every night.

A familiar smell graze Grey’s nostrils. Blood, terror and death. Oh yes, it was a feeding. Suspecting a vampire near by Grey peers over the roof edge to see a woman hastily walking away from her victim. Her living victim. Grey calm himself as he realised she was like him, albeit much younger. How could he judge her? Back at that age Grey would of slaughter the poor bum. Grey fell into old habits as he began to stalk the young undead woman. He was surprise to see her enter a police station of all places. Guilty conscious leading you to report the crime. Or maybe you work there. How ironic if true. Grey thought to himself.

After a few hours in her office looking at the photos she took of the man that was now in hospital she spoke ot herself. ''Poor Man. Like he hadn't had a ruff time anyways.'' She then put the photos along wiht the rest of them in her draw and locked it, she took the key with her. The other photos were of the other murders. But it was unusal to see a simliar attack but not kill them. Maybe this criminal had a heart? She then got out of her office. She then saw Amisa Jukudo walking around done her bussiness. She waved to her then walked to her. She is undercover, and has worked long enough to be one of the police but she was moved the here and started to work at the police station one year after Amisa Jukudo had started so, they were netrual with eachother. ''Hey Amisa, How are you? Work being slow?'' She asked with a warm smile on her.

Jackal sauntered down a dirty street, illuminated in the golden glow of the morning sun. He'd taken time to read over the documents Eve had given him at a coffee shop near her penthouse. Apparently the investigation unit in charge of the case he was looking into was stationed around here. He glimpsed a streak of white out of the corner of his eye. His head whipped around to bring the source into view. Nothing. There wasn't even a door or alleyway the ghostly figure could have ducked into, just a bare white-washed wall.
"Shit... Not this crap again..." Jackal muttered, rubbing his eyes with irritation.
He stopped in view of the police station studying it. It was nothing special, just your average red brick city station. He noticed a blonde woman stride into the building, it wasn't her hair that caught Jackal's attention, or even the fact that she was quite good looking. It was her trench-coat. His mind formed the immediate connection with the various action films he watched, and comics he read as a child, a trench-coat was a sign of importance to 'the story'. He grinned, and started after her.
By the time he had entered the police station, though, the woman had gotten away. He sighed, and approached the police desk.
"Can I help you? The dykey looking officer manning the desk asked.
"Yeah, I'm here to see the unit investigating the 'Stanton Avenue Killings', and the other similar cases." Jackal said in a cool tone.
The officer gave him vicious look, "Who are you, and how do you know about those cases?"
Jackal hopped back to a safe distance, and raised his hands, "Woah, woah~ lady! I just utter those few words and you're all over me! Calm down, I'm just here to help, I'm a private investigator with new evidence to present to the investigation team."
He whipped out a badge, but only kept it in sight long enough for the woman to catch a glimpse of it. If she had been able to study the hunk of metal he had just wave in front of her face she would have been able to tell it was no more a police badge than a paper mache balloon, it was actually a medal he had won from a kick boxing tournament a few years back that was shaped similarly to a police badge. His blatant lie about bing a private investigator was only a ploy to gain access to the investigation team. Once he knew their faces it wouldn't matter if the kicked him out, he could find them and badger them until they spilled the beans on this case.
The woman still looked suspicious, even when she picked up the phone and began punching in numbers.

Claire looked into the main part of the police station stretching and then she saw the man somewhat losing his cool with the new desker. She sighed then walked up to intern. ''Jane, Is everything alright? Is this man bothering you?'' She then smiled at the woman then looked at the blonde hair guy with the of her eye. The woman on the front desk then tilted her attenion to Claire and spoke. ''I am sorry, I am trying to do will at this job....'' She timidly said. Claire nodded at the Woman. ''Jane it is fine, just tell me what this wants and who he is.'' The intern then nodded. ''He is looking mainly for you, Ms. Williams, about the murders and what not.'' The intern looked at the man briefly with a smile then back to Claire. ''He said he was a private detective.'' She smiled to Claire faintly. Claire crossed her arms. ''Okay Jane, thankyou. Back to work though. You still have those things I asked you to do.'' She grinned at the woman then walked closer to the Man. ''Hello Sir, my name is Claire Williams, I am one of the people doing the cases you spoke of. May I know your name and see your badge? Please.'' She asked politly with a smiled and her arms still crossed.

Amisa noticed Claire and said: "Hi! Well, Claire, I am doing fine at the moment. I got a typical case of the mondays, only drinking coffee." She began to scratch at a tiny red speck on her shirt that might have been the blood of that bum this morning. "How is the progress on the mystery murder case? Anyone find anything new yet?" She said. Then she noticed the journalist. Her eyes didn't seem to be the usual blue this morning but more like red. This had been so for the past few days already and Amisa couldn't find out why. Everytime someone mentioned her eye color she mostly successfully diverted the conversation towards something else. It might be a bit suspicious but it worked. The way the recent murders were, Amisa thought that something supernatural might have something to do with it. But if she would say anything about it, she might look crazy or be one step closer to being revealed.

(Well I might be able to post tomorrow again but otherwise you will have to wait until Sunday since I am going to a music festival here in Germany. Metal!!!)

''Hello Sir, my name is Claire Williams, I am one of the people doing the cases you spoke of. May I know your name and see your badge? Please.''

Jackal turned to study the officer. It was Madame Trench-coat. He engraved her features into his memory before speaking.
Knowing the phoney badge wouldn't work a second time he decided to change the story slightly.
"Ah... Sorry about that... Umm... I think... Jane misherd me... I'm a private journalist! ...Who is investigating the murder cases that been springing up around these parts..."
That part of the truth just wasn't going to cut it, so he added a little more, "Investigating in regards to the fact that they are remarkably similar to a case I reported on a little while ago, I'd like to find out more about this new case and compare it to the one I referred to... I have no badge."
Jackal put on an apologetic grin, and scratched his head. Out of the corner of his eye he saw the woman at the desk prepare to object, and ruin his chance, and depending on how uptight the station was, would get him prosecuted under that shitty fraud act passed a few years ago for attempting to gain access to information under a false identity.
"Sorry, Officer Williams, I'd really like to talk to you about the case, but I really don't like police stations, they make me feel like I'm in trouble for something... Could we go and talk somewhere else? Like a coffee shop or something?"
Jackal, edged towards the door, still facing the officer, and raised his left arm in the direction of the door almost pleadingly.

Claire smiled at the man and placed her hand on hes shoulder gentally. ''I thought you weren't a detective. I would know after all.'' She laughed and rubbend his shoulder. ''Okay, I have time to spare. Take em to one you prefer. And call me Claire. All the other officers do.'' She smiled warmly to the man then walked out the door. She then thought back to what she said to him about knowing a fake detective. After all, she was a expert. She did work for the FBI but undercover. Her records were fake and her last name faked to be safe from other companies. Her last name was really. Smith. She then looked back at the man smiling then waved herself off to the other officers. The officers whistled and she put her finger up at them, they laughed wildly.

β€œSlow morning” grey murmured to himself as he read particular large red book about the lore of various beasties. It had been quite a few hours since he witnessed that young undead girl. It just didn’t sit right with him at all. It was clear to Grey that she was trying her best to be human, yet sooner or later she going to slip up. Maybe he could help some how. With out further time wasting Grey shut up his book shop, went up stairs where his living quarters were and opened his wardrobe. He browsed through the various outfits. Suits, warned out cloths of a tramp and even the occasional dress. None of them were too his liking, but that wasn’t the point of this wardrobe. This was day wear to hide his identity.

After a lengthy application of a realistic mask grey suited up to play the part right. A none district brown suit, a flat cap, blacked out shades, a blind’s man stick, fold up chair and saxophone. β€œNo one expects the old blind man busker, haha” Grey chuckled to himself. Luckily the police station was only a 30 minute walk from Grey’s bookstore so he got there in no time. Once there he walked across the street, unfolded his chair, placed is flat cap near by and readied his saxophone. But before he had chance to play a blond haired man caught his attention the man in question entered the police station. Some how this thirty something man looked familiar to Grey, although he had no idea why.

β€œWell this is an interesting police station, seems to gets all sorts of people here” Grey thought to himself. Finally Grey started to play the saxophone. Unfortunately he hadn’t played for at least forty years so he was pretty bad. Luckily it had become harder and harder for Grey to get embarrassed over the years.

As Claire gotoutside and took a deep breath in and relished the fresh air. She was going to look back to the man but she noticed a blind saxophone player. She always had a weak spot for the song of saxophones. She then approuched the man. She didn't see a place to put money, She smiled at the man and got out a fifty and placed it in his suit pocket then spoke. ''Though you have not played in a while, sir. You are stlll very good.'' She smiled warmly to the man then turned back to blond hair man. She blonde too, but itwas refreshing to see another since blonds just didn't appear in the world now. ''Sir. Before we go. You still haven't told me your name.'' She laughed.

Amisa didn't particularly trust the man who talked to Claire. He seemed to be one of the reporters who wanted his big story to her. She followed them until she got outside. Claire gave a man, who horridly played a saxophone, some money. There was something not right about the man. He had an aura of the undead like her, so she went up to him. "Who are you and do you think you can fool me with the blind man outfit? Someone like you cannot be blind. I have been here long enough to know that you are like me." Amisa said. She was referring to the undead and their aura. She glare to him right at his face. "What are you up to? We got enough troublemakers in this city and I want to make sure you arent one."

Claire turned around around and once she hear the word undead and aura she walked up to them both with a frown upon her face. ''What do you mean he is not blind or at least think not?'' She said bluntly to both the so called blind man and Amisa, her fellow officer. But to not uncover her cover she then relaxed and put a act on. ''Aww man. I am sorry Amisa. I have just been looking at those cases for too long. Sorry.'' She then bowed at Amisa and the man. She was spying on Amisa. How do you think she found the homeless man? She then smiled at Amisa. ''So, What do you mean he is playing up?'' She asked politly while looking at the man.

Claire had suddenly asked Amisa questions about what she just had said. "What? Uh... well. I have seen this saxophone player before and yesterday he wasnt blind. I am trying to say that this man is faking it." Amisa said. It was a wonder that no one noticed anything odd about Amisa yet. Not even her colleagues asked if she was an albino with her white hair, pale skin and red eyes. Even those who knew her before the accident didn't even asked how she turned from a blue eyed brunette to a red eyed albino appearance. And it was more of a problem that Claire might be on to Amisa about being undead, leaving unconscious bums in back alleys near the police station and so on.

Claire frowned at the so called blind man and snatched her money back. ''I will be taking that!'' She hissed out. She then smiled at Amisa. ''Thankyou, Wait. Have you gotten a tan! That is so unfair...'' She grummble. Though she didn't mean it. She now knew she was undead but didn't want to make her suspious or pushed out. Since she was not the cause of the deaths. She knew that now and thinks she can trust her friend Amisa now. She then put her hand on Amisa's shoulder and looked into her eyes. ''Can you come with me Amisa? I need to talk to you.'' She smiled at her.

"Huh. Come with you and talk?" Amisa said. Uh oh. Maybe Claire had four out about Amisa. This might be a problem but Amisa wouldnt know how to solve it. She couldnt just kill her problem like some undead do and she wasnt about to just erase those memories from other peoples minds. "Fine then I will come with you. Claire. What is the concern anyways? Did you find something new in our case? Or is it something personal you have to discuss with me?" Amisa asked. She really kind of feared that Claire might demask her and ask a bunch of questions about her undead self and maybe even turn against her because she might think that Amisa was some kind of freak or monster.

As Amisa walked away with her she then smiled at her. ''First of all. Don't worry, I don't thing yuo are a freak of anything and I definitly are not the cause of the murders. I know what you are. But please don't worry I am with you and will protect you form the others.'' She smiled to Amisa. ''I am your friend, not you enemy. You would still be my friend even as a human or as you are. You should know that now. We have worked together long enough.'' She then patted Amisa back then when over to the blond haired man. ''Shall we go?''

What was that? Amisa thought. She knows what I am? I dont even think she knows that I am not of the living but rather dead. Amisa went back over to the man played the saxophone and said: "Okay. Who are you and have you been following me since this morning? Tell me now. Are you a vampire or a demon or just another vampiric zombie?" Amisa questioned the man. She was serious and didn't like to be followed. She was also kind of stressed because of the ongoing case and because of the shock from the confrontation from Claire. Amisa had to be careful now and she didnt want her life or job being put to danger because she loved to fight for rightiousness.
