XXXWith three boistorous older brothers Lucia has had to learn to speak her mind to be heard, for being heard over the booming voices of her siblings is never easy. Luci is strong, a touch argumentative, and undeniably stubborn. She's had to be when up against the forces of her brothers, and even her mother. It was that stubbornness which saw Lucia allowed to take up dancing after her mother refused to enrol her in martial arts. Lucia is prone to sticking to her point no matter how persuasive the other's argument is, which makes debating with the young woman irritating for any who don't like defeat.
XXXThat being said, she's intelligent enough to know when she has lost the battle, even if Luci is too stubborn to admit as much. That competitive streak rarely has her accepting defeat until her opponent is being crowned, and even then that only serves to further her determination to succeed. Ambition is not a stranger to Miss Rios, she has her dreams and she knows how to get there. She's a forward-planner, mapping her path and setting goals to be met. Adapting to new situations has proved a welcome trait in overcoming any hurdles thrown in her way. Luci will not shy away from hard work, spending long hours at the library and taking extra hours at work to provide for herself.

While she has grown and matured since her teenage years, and is less likely to spread hurtful lies, she still can't claim to be a complete angel. Of course, her mother sees her only as an angel. A delicate angel. It has been years since Lucia has had to worry seriously about her health, yet her mother still continues to treat Lucia as if she was still the same, broken child. Needless to say, anyone else treating her the same way would receive a glare, while Catalina merely earns an exasperated sigh and a fond smile from her only daughter.

Asteria Lucia Noelle Rios, or Lucia as she prefers to be known, was the fourth child of Catalina and Iago, and the only girl. Brazil, her father's homeland, was her birth place though she only lived in São Paulo for two years before the family moved to the United States. Catalina Anaya, Cuban born though Brazilian raised, had made a name for herself as an authority on mythology and ancient literature. It was a job offer she couldn't refuse which saw the family of six relocating north. Iago eventually joined the local law enforcement, and with Catalina's salary, the move proved fruitful for the family and they could happily claim to be comfortably middle class.
Childhood for Lucia had its ups and downs. She was vibrant and friendly, a winning smile painted across her little face on most occasions. Her older brothers both doted on her and teased her to no end. The teasing usually resulted in a firm telling off from their mother, who did her best to protect Lucia from almost everything. In any normal situation, that coddling would have been almost suffocating, yet Lucia had been born with a congenital heart defect. It was not life threatening, but had it not been registered and attended to in time things could have turned out differently. As it turned out, Luci's condition was treated and her health none the worse. Yet, Catalina even to this day continues to worry, much to Luci's irritation and appreciation. Luci's father never treated her like she might break, and she was always thrilled to join him at the shooting range.
Growing up in the Rios-Anaya household was always interesting. Her older brothers were rowdy and loud, her mother not against raising her voice to be heard, while her father kept a quiet presence. As the youngest and only daughter, Lucia quickly learned that to be heard she had to be firm. Luckily for the girl she was always bullheaded, happy to argue her point no matter how many were against her.
As high school came and went, Luci had no clue in what direction she wanted to take her life. She was bright enough, and certainly had no trouble getting into university. Yet, though she was happily admitted to university, her first year was spent taking a collection of papers that offered her no clear path to a career. Partying and exploring her new found freedom came first, and it was really only her competitive nature that had her buckling down before exams. That is, until she found a love of law. Her second year of university was much more direct, her papers and future career set. Currently Lucia is still studying towards gaining her law degree, having completed her pre-law undergraduate's degree in history and political science.
Though her parents still live in the same city, Lucia lives in a shared apartment and works at a law firm part-time to help supplement rent. Her brothers are frequent visitors, as she is to their homes, and it isn't uncommon to hear the siblings calling across the room in loud Portuguese. Even with all of the siblings now adults Lucia's brothers still aren't shy about teasing their baby sister, though thankfully she is plenty able to defend herself as any true lawyer should be able to do.
