Ella May

"Don't like the heat? Then get out of my way."

a character in “Elemental Powers”, as played by JacquelineJuliet

Description

Image

Nickname: El, Ellie, May

Age: 17

Birth Date: March 28th, 2983

Sexuality: Heterosexual

Role: Fire

Image

Appearance: Ella has three scars of her left cheek, and a huge birthmark on her leg that looks like a tattoo. She does have tattoos though, such as one on her right arm, one on her left arm, one below her right elbow, and one below her left elbow.

Personality: Ella doesn't mind being looked at. Her confident, sassy attitude usually places her in the spotlight. She is known for her wits and sarcastic comebacks. To strangers, she is a complete bitch, but they eventually get used to her attitude. The fact that she has an extremely short temper doesn't make matters better when involving with others. Ella May can freak out over the smallest, unimportant things, but can be completely calm and collective during huge, catastrophic situations. Weird, right? She is her very best under pressure. She knows exactly what to do and how to do it.

Despite being sarcastic, Ella can be the biggest sweetheart in the world! However, it is very rare for her to be kind and generous towards others. She thinks it is boring to be so innocent and caring, so she'd rather be spunky and sarcastic. Hell, even when she's nice she's sarcastic! A week or few days she maybe be in her sweetheart mode, but no more. Sometimes she just can't help being kind. It has to come out sometime. To her friends, family, and crushes, she is kinder than usual, but not completely kind. She's herself. A little kind, but rather sassy. Don't be fooled by her sweet-looking face. This seventeen year old has been through a lot and as a result distances herself from others at random times. Strip away her smile, fierce eyes, and
break down her walls, all that remains is an innocent, scared, little girl.

Strengths:
  • Flexibility
  • Hot/dry areas
  • Fire-proof skin
  • Running
  • Agility
  • Quick reflexes
  • Gymnastics (This is surprisingly affective in combat)
  • Calm under pressure

Weaknesses:
  • Precipitation
  • Winter
  • Her past
  • Temperatures under 40 degrees
  • Sensitive birthmark
  • Opening up
  • Letting go

Likes:
  • Her powers
  • Running
  • Her family
  • Her tattoos
  • Summer
  • Drawing
  • Exploring

Dislikes:
  • Zorks
  • Cry babies
  • Water
  • Being told what to do
  • Being forced to do something
  • Crying
  • Blowing up on others
  • Bugs

History: Ella's parents were never really around. She remembered growing up with her dad more than her mom. Her dad was her idol, best friend, and her hero. He was always so kind to her, making her laugh and caring for her. Her mother remains in her memories from seeing her once or twice. Ella remembers seeing the female fighting with her father when she was about 4. She remembers the woman, her mother, saying something about taking her daughter with her. Her father became furious and shortly after another round of screaming, her mother left. She remembers seeing her father cry for the first and only time in her life. She remembers asking him what was wrong, and him scooping her up in his muscular arms, crying into her hair. He assured her everything was alright and that they'd never be separated. That promise didn't last long.

Ella was only 11 when she heard about and later encountered the Zorks. She and her father were at the store getting groceries when she saw the newspapers. The title, Aliens on Earth?, made her nervous. She showed her father, but he reassured her that it was probably nothing. A week later she met them. She remembers walking home from her friends house and having the feel she was being followed. She was only a few yards from her house when everything happened. She remembers it all: the screams, the fire, the crying, the blood, the scattered limbs, the severed heads--including her fathers.

From then on she lived underground with a family her father chose to take care of her, incase anything happened to him. They were known as the Hoovers. The Hoovers tried their best to connect to El, but she wouldn't respond. They decided to give her time. The two parents, Betty and Richard, and seven of their eight kids left Ellie alone until she came around. The only one that communicated with her was Logan. The five year old would come and just sit in her lap. They would just sit there and do nothing. It took about a year for El to start talking. She started by singing Logan to sleep, then she would eventually talk to him when he came to her. Step by step she opened up, but she wasn't her old self. All she could do was be negative, so the oldest Hoover, 18 year old Bryce, pulled her aside and fixed her attitude so it was how it is now.

When she first found out or how she found out about her powers, she doesn't remember. That remains a mystery.

Other:
  • The vine on her leg is a birthmark that grew as she did, not a tattoo.
  • The birthmark is genetic on her mother's side, apparently.
  • Ella's birthmark glows, but then disappears when she uses her powers.
  • Love is blooming in her heart for one of the other elementals, even though she's denying it.
  • Since she was 11, she has had nightmares every night. They are slowly getting worse, causing her to cave further and further into herself.
  • She's a ticking time-bomb, waiting to be set off.

Jamie put his sport bag down, and looked around at the training ground. He hadn't trained for ages, and needed some practice. He sighed and walked over to the punching bag he normally used, and started punching, letting out all his pent up stress from the day. He punched furiously, and stopped when his fists started to graze a bit. He put some salve on before getting his sport bag, and pulling out his laser blade. He smiled, and spoke the voice activation code. "Light saber!" It turned on with an orange glow. It was like a light saber, but different. It was flat rather than round, more like an actual sword. He could use it without the laser edging, but it wouldn't cut as easily as it did when it was turned on. He readied himself in the guard stance against the training robot, and they began to dance.

Jamie swung the sword quickly at the training robot's side, and it blocked, but he quickly came round to it's other side, and almost hit it, but it blocked and he twisted their swords together so he could attempt to fling the sword out of the robot's hand. It failed, but the robot was set off guard. He then lunged into the robot, and it spoke mechanically. "Match lost, Jamie Haliburr is victorious." Jamie grinned and turned off his sword, pleased with the results. He put the sword away, and pulled out his list of tricks he had promised himself to try and master. He looked down the list, and chose one. It was what he had called The Hollow HeartWork. He focused, and balled his hand into a gentle fist. He nudged the power inside him a bit, and when it was the right size, he flicked his fingers outwards, and imagined a hollow heart of flames coming out of his hand. He opened his eyes and watched as a little flaming heart popped out of his hand. He grinned as it popped into a shower of sparks, falling harmlessly to the ground in front of him. He smiled, and closed his eyes, deciding to have a little think. He wondered what the other elements were doing.

Ella walked around the base, watching as others that she passed. She was on her way to the Training Grounds to let off some steam. She wasn't in the best mood today. Every person she passed, she wanted to knock out. Everyone who looked at her, she wanted to melt their eyes out. Each being that made a remark as she passed, she wanted to engulf in flames on the spot. Every object she saw she wanted to watch burn. Right at this moment, she wouldn't care if the world were set on fire. In fact, Ella May would most likely enjoy watching that happen. The Zorks would be eliminated, along with the rest of the human race. Maybe she would mind in the long run. Yes, it was safe to say she wasn't in the best mood.

As she entered, she didn't noticed anyone else in the room. It was silent for once, which Ella liked for an odd reason. Often times the quiet made her uncomfortable or lose her cool. In this case, it was soothing to some point and made her feel at home. Home. There was never a true home for the female. Ever since she lost her best friend, she hadn't considered anything home. Where she was now was just another place to stay. All it was was shelter. A place that provided safety and had the basic materials. As soon as her best friend popped into her mind, she pushed him away. It had been a while since her father's death, and it was still hard to accept. She had never been the same since he left. She ached and yearned to see and be with him again, but she knew that wouldn't happen anytime soon. Suicide was something she looked upon as cowardice, but Ella had contemplated it before. Obviously she never attempted or went through with it. She was standing today, wasn't she?

The Training Ground were large with many different courses and targets. Ella made her way over to the standard, moving targets which she always had fun with. The targets were like nothing she'd ever seen. Instead of just moving side to side, they moved around the whole room as if they were actual people. May opened her hands, fire automatically forming in her palms. As she had discovered and played with her powers more and more, it had become easier to 'ignite' as she put it. She felt her leg start to heat up, meaning her birthmark was glowing. The targets started out moving towards her first, making them extremely easy to hit. She raised her hand and aimed, making contact with them. The next round of targets was different than usual. All of them moved towards her in different directions, soon to be circling her at a rapid pace. Trying to focus on one, Ella started aiming and shooting, but to no avail. The spinning targets were making her become more frustrated than she originally was. She grit her teeth and made a ring of fire appear around her, she raised her hands in front of her and shot them out to the sides, watching as the ring expanded. It expanded within a matter of seconds. before she knew it, all the targets were destroyed and she had nothing left to aim at. She narrowed her eyes. She could feel her attitude hadn't shifted at all, but remained exactly the same. Looks like she was just getting started. She picked up her feet and walked over to another station. However, before she could start, she felt as if someone else were watching her. When she turned her head she spotted Jamie. Her face relaxed somewhat, but her eyes were still cold. They never seemed to soften. She lowered her hands and watched as the flames disappeared. She felt her leg go cold, and she looked down just in time to see the fabric of her jeans return to their natural denim color. It was odd. Whenever her birthmark glowed, the fabric of her pants changed to a soft gold, the color it glowed. Her eyes returned to Jamie who was still looking at her. She furrowed her brow and spat out sharply at him. "What? Can I help you or something?" The last thing she wanted to do was deal with anyone.

Jamie had watched as Ella walked into the training grounds, obviously not in a good mood. He had messed about with some fire in his hands, making a sort of fiery worm or snake crawl between his fingers smoothly, like it was sand trickling through his hands. Jamie missed the beach as he thought about this, remembering the trips he and his parents would take sometimes. At least, before the Zorks. He shook his head, removing any thoughts of his dad, and decided to watch Ella as he practiced his tricks. She had started by forming balls of fire in her hands, and firing at the targets moving around her in a circle. Her leg had started to glow soft at first, but brighter and brighter as she used her power more. She had tried focusing on just one target at a time. Jamie knew it wouldn't end well, knowing that tactic was always harder with moving targets. Ella became frustrated and went faster, but still missed. She then formed a ring of fire around her, and then shot her arms out to the sides. Jamie quickly put up a hand, shooting out his own fire to stop hers from hitting him. He knew he had fireproof skin, he just didn't always like the sensation, especially remembering the burn he had gotten from the last time he tried to be invincible. Although it was years ago, he didn't want it to happen again.

Ella had turned around, and her face had lost it's furious look, but her eyes still stayed the same. "What? Can I help you or something?" Jamie hadn't realised he was staring, and the lack of focus on his fingers caused the little snake to pop. He stopped staring so much and smiled very awkwardly. "Sorry, didn't realise I was staring. Won't happen again." Jamie then put his list of tricks back in his bag and walked towards the door. Before he left he turned back and nodded. "Cool ring of fire thing you did there by the way." He then opened the door and left, but not before firing a ball of fire over his shoulder and hitting a dummy in the head.

Jamie complimented Ella and she raised an eyebrow. Compliments were something the female rarely received. It gave her an odd feeling, and some of the frustrated and negative emotions in her body disappeared. He opened the door and Ella shook her head. "I didn't say you had to leave but okay," she called to him. The male threw a ball of fire, hitting a dummy near her in the head. The fact that it had been so close to her cause her to smirk. She believed he had no intentions of hitting her, but he was close enough. With a brief shake of her head and a few comments under her breath, she resumed her targeting. The negative emotions were mostly gone by now. Studies had shown smiling caused one to feel better, but being as she was Ella never believed that. Maybe it was true after all, she thought to herself. Also, maybe she wasn't just getting started with target practice. Maybe it was over as soon as it started.

Eventually Ella returned to her senses and continued what she had come here for: practice. She made her way over to another station, but her mind kept wondering to places elsewhere. Random thoughts started to come up, all of them being trivial. All of the thoughts in her head started to tick her off, so she brought the flames back up and began shooting. She didn't stop until every ounce of negative emotions dripped off of her and onto the cold, black floor beneath her feet.

Jamie walked quickly down the passageway, and tried to get to his apartments as quickly as possible. He managed to get there quickly enough so as to catch his mother before she went out as she did at this time of day. "Hey mum, you good today?" Jamie asked with concern in his eyes. His mother had had depression for a few years now, and he wanted to keep her happy. He had caught her stockpiling pills even, and that had made him sad too. But, he had now made it his job to keep his mum happy. His mother looked up, and smiled at him, her baggy eyes lighting up at the sight of him. "Ah, Jamie! You look so much like your father..." Her eyes watered and he hugged her tightly before giving her a kiss on the cheek. "You go have fun okay mum?" His mother smiled and walked off down the busy passageway. Jamie then reached into his bag and realised he'd left his phone at the training ground, and swore quietly under his breath. Turning on his heels, Jamie then sprinted back to the training ground.

Jamie ran into the training grounds, and looked around. He saw his phone near where he was sitting, and smiled, panting. He walked over to it, picking it up and checking it over for any damage, completely forgetting Ella in the room.
