o d d i t i e s x // xBodhi has a fair amount of scars that he keeps hidden on his body from his step father's abuse. Other than that, he has two tattoos. One is of a forest on his right forearm, decided out of personal reasons that no one knows. The second is of two feathers behind his left ear representing his Inuit heritage, standing for his mother and sister.

a p p e a r a n c e x // xThere is a reason a lot of the other high schoolers call him "rockstar". It is not a name he is overly fond of, but considering his interaction with them is only distasteful glances in passes, he doesn't really live down the name. A lot of it has to do with his thick main of curly black hair. It's the sort of thing that has the guys teasing him and the girls fawning over him, not that he cares. That along with his constant scruffy 5 o'clock shadow give him an over all dark presence with his rich tan complexion.

His frame is more slender, but it is a bit deceiving, hiding a decent amount of muscle as well. Although Bodhi has a sour air about him, he carries himself with a cocky and nearly off putting confidence. He's often seen in mostly black clothing with the occasional band t-shirt, or plaid. It's rare to see him without sunglasses or earbuds in because then people assume he's far removed, even though it is rare that he is actually listening to music.

P E R S O N A L I T Y
xxxxxxxxxx aggressive xx stubborn xx hot headed xx guarded x

Bodhi is far from cuddly and friendly. He comes off like a cactus in a field of flowers around everyone in the high school. It isn’t even an angry disposition… He’s just a distasteful and unlikeable person by most people’s standards. He doesn’t hide, sugar coat or soften the words that slip from his sharp tongue, and is even more indifferent towards the effects that spawned from his words. He doesn’t hesitate when it comes to getting into fights, sharing insulting words or even just acting like someone does not exist. There is little about him that is redeeming since it seems like he is at a constant state of anger and hatred.

He’s never been one for compromise or admitting that he was wrong about something. Whatever it comes to, Bodhi doesn’t give. He’s never been known to be flexible or open minded. He’s hard headed in every sense. He never gives up, doesn’t bend to others desires and won’t surrender. Although to some extent this can seem like an honorable thing, not giving up what he believes for others. But, more often then not, it makes him seem ornery and selfish.

Bodhi has never been the type to be the most level headed and calm in situations. It doesn’t take much to set him off, or get him riled. Be it irritation, insults or just shear stupidity, he’ll get heated and fired. His temper can get him into all sorts of trouble, especially fights. One thing isn’t, is calm and rational. He has a habit of being irrational in many situations which only seems to deter more people.

But under all his sharp edges and temper, is just a guarded man who’s been hurt too many times to let himself open up ever again. What frightens him most of all is getting hurt again, and never being enough. So, instead of trying to live up to others expectations, he lets them be disappointed from the beginning. He keeps everyone at an arms distance so that they cannot get close enough to harm him or find their way behind his barriers.

H I S T O R Y

It’s obvious Bodhi didn’t have a simple life growing up, if he did… Maybe he would have turned out to be a better person. For a couple years of his life, things were perfect, if there was such a thing. He was young up in Alaska with his mother. He never found out the truth about his biological father. But the man obviously wanted nothing to do with him… So, because of that, Bodhi never asked questions. It was when he was three years old that his mother was transferred to Mississippi for work.

That was when she met Mike, Bodhi’s step father. In the beginning everything was perfect. The white picket lifestyle that every family wanted. After a couple years, he was even given a little sister, Ashley. She brought the sunshine with her wherever she went, and between her and his mother, they were his world. But that all didn’t last long before things started going down hill.

When Ashley was only two, their mother grew very sick and died of breast cancer. Once she was gone, Mike changed, or maybe that was his true nature coming out. Everything their mother had worked towards to give her children was squandered away for alcohol and gambling. Before they new it, they were crammed into a tiny trailer. Mike quickly became abusive in his alcoholic state, often taking his aggression out on Bodhi, who still has the scars to prove it.

Once Bodhi was fourteen, he had to start working so that they could keep a rough over their heads. With Mike being a deadbeat, and drinking away all his money, it was the only way to ensure that Ashley was able to eat. But eventually, things some how managed to take a turn for the worst. After Ashely turned ten, and Bodhi was fifteen, Mike began to abuse Ash as well.

Growing closer to teenage years, the abuse took a darker turn. Bodhi nearly killed Mike once he realized what was going on. But his step father had him committed to a juvenile delinquent facility. While there Mike had free reign over Ashley. When Bodhi was seventeen and Ashely was twelve, it was a little less than a week before his realize when he got word. His sister killed herself to escape from the tortures of their step father.

The moment Bodhi got out of the facility, he went straight to Mike and killed him. He was able to spin it as self defense, stilling getting more time sent away to Juvy. He’s recently returned and has been sent to West Harrison High School under the severe watch of his consolers and parol officer. Of course, rumors and whispers spread throughout the school. But no one knows the true nature of everything that passed with Bodhi and no one will. But whatever happiness, or light that once was in his heart was long snuffed with the passing of his mother and sister.

To the untrained eye, there was nothing particularly wrong with the world - well, besides the norm (because to be honest, there was always a problem in the world).

However, to the Aequus, and the Universe, the humans will definitely drive their entire race to extinction if they kept going at this rate.

Sure, the world had it's fair share of problems in the past. People starving. Rather feeble viruses killing thousands. But those problems were improved by science, technology. Those problems were simply little obstacles in humanity's climb to greatness. No path is ever completely smooth. The problems of the past were merely the inevitable in evolution.

Present-day problems, however, were much different. Starvation and war may have similar effects, but they are two very different things. Starvation is the lack of food, most likely humanity populating too quickly for their agriculture to catch up. War, however, is propelled solely by emotions taken to the extreme. There are many other problems in present-day Earth, and nearly all of have to do with emotions.

Therefore, the Aequus were in trouble.

Love had gotten out of hand. It was natural for one emotion to intermingle with others, but Love almost completely used the other emotions for her own. It threw the balance off for all the rest of the emotions, which was definitely not good. Happiness's process of neglecting her duties was more complex; it happened over a rather long period of time. She was mesmerized by the humans, who managed to remain free despite the Aequus controlling their emotions. Once her duty to her job had faltered, it was hard to bounce back from it. She kept neglecting her duties, slowly but surely. She had tried to go back to her previous self, when making the balance of happiness perfect came naturally to her, but it was like walking into quicksand; the deeper she went, the harder it was to come back out.

However, Sadness' situation, on the other hand, was a bit different. He committed to his duties, keeping the balance of sadness in the world intact. But as technology and science evolved on Earth, conflict did too. As World Wars kept coming and people kept dying, the overwhelming sadness in the world was enough to strain Sadness himself. He had changed, after World War II. He became insensitive, relentless, reckless. Instead of the sadness destroying him, he was destroying sadness.

If Anger walked the earth as a pure, mortal human, she would be described as...mentally disturbed, perhaps. She was a tad more unstable than the rest of the Aequus. She had become disappointed in the world's use of anger. The wars were so petty...the anger in them was wasteful. Anger was forced to start World War II by making the anger of the European countries at Hitler explode, allowing them to defend themselves. Anger didn't like that war. World domination...the cause was empty. So she helped ISIS, and it was safe to say that no one liked that.

Fear had let power overwhelm her. In humanity, fear was always powerful. Many times, fear was in control. Fear grew obsessed with that. She relished the feeling of the large doses of fear and anger flowing through the world (which Anger was not happy about), and soon enough, in her obsession, fear in the world grew out of control.

The Aequus lost their sight of their duty. All five of the major emotions have earned themselves a place among humans. Their purpose is to teach a mortal the purpose of their emotion - perhaps, they are to teach themselves as well. The Aequus have forgotten their significance.

It's time for them to remember.

Chris tapped her foot on the wooden floor of the gym. She was bored. Apparently, she was fast at changing, and everybody else was dreadfully slow. Sure, there were a few students already out of the locker rooms, but about 95% of them were still doing their thing.

Chris was supposedly lucky, since her human, Isaac O'Cassedy, was in her gym class as well. She had a chance to scope things out, making it easier for her to fix him up, and leave this damned Earth.

Nothing against Earth...but high school was dull.

Apparently, Chris had just jinxed something by thinking that. There was a commotion near the boys' locker room, as Isaac entered the gym with a trail of bullies following him, jeering at him. He made no move to defend himself.

Chris' eyes narrowed. It was disappointing how weak he was. He was over a foot taller than her, for goodness sake! Apparently, the running trend here in human high schools was that the taller, bigger dudes were more intimidating. Of course, Chris - and Zoe, also known as Fear - were exceptions. But intimidating people was kind of their jobs.

"Aw, come on Cassie," the biggest one of the boys, obviously the ringleader. He shoved the blue-eyed boy (who was actually taller than him), making him bump into a girl, who jumped, shoving Isaac off of her. The boys chortled with laughter, but the girl as obviously not pleased. She scowled, shooting both Isaac at his bullies a withering glare, stomping away to her brunette friend, who was coming out of the girls' locker room. Chris decided to speak up. Sometimes her fellow emotions thought, since she was Anger, that'd she supported bullying, but that wasn't the case. Especially since the spectacle in front of her involved very, very little anger.

"Sod off," she said, almost in a bored tone. That definitely caught the bullies' attention. Some of them recognized her, and stepped to the background. The ringleader clearly wasn't intimidated, but then again, Chris wasn't acting very intimidating.

"Are you a British bitch or what?" he scoffed, rolling his eyes. What was ironic was that Chris actually was British - well, 80% British. Anger wouldn't know too much about Brits, she specialized in anger, but her human form was mainly British. Okay, sod off is probably a British term. Good to know.

"I am British, and I am a bitch - well, more of an ass than a bitch," Chris replied smartly, although her tone was light and almost mocking in a distinct way. "But you aren't in the position to say that about me. Please, do yourself a favor and stop being a baby looking to seem tough through pushing someone around. Really, it gives you a bad rep." Chris smiled in almost a friendly manner, if it weren't for that almost creepy gleam in her eye that appeared in times like this. "Just some friendly advice. If you want to get the girl - or guy, I don't assume people's sexualities - then you should back off before your face gets really messed up. Of course, you should also back off 'cause no one likes people like you, but you get the idea. Hopefully. Explaining this stuff really ruins the effect."

The ringleader of the group glared at her. Chris smiled back at him in almost a Cheshire-grin kind of way - except without the teeth. He scowled, but backed off. Chris turned back to Isaac. "I freak people out like that all the time," she said cheerily, before turning back to the assembling group of students.

if someone makes you so angry, take a deep breath, count to ten, and kill him immediately.

"Today we are starting our self-defense unit, which we will be doing for the next few weeks..." Coach Mohammad Hase - apparently his last name was German - droned on as Chris' attention started to fade. She had ADHD. You couldn't blame her.

"You will be pairing up," the coach continued, "choose your partners wisely. As we learn new skills, we will be practice fighting against each other. And by all means, you are not to harm anybody. This is self-defense, not swordfighting."

The ringleader of Isaac's bullies - Chris learned that his name was Rui Lynch - had a certain gleam in his eye as he stared at Isaac. The coach released the class to find their partners. Of course, Chris was going to choose Isaac - she had a damn job, after all - but Chris being Chris, she couldn't resist saying something to Rui.

"Have a crush on him?" Chris mentioned mildly, referring to Rui staring at Isaac in the "oh watch your back, Cassie" kind of way. Ha. Of course Rui didn't have a crush on Isaac, but Chris just loved getting on people's nerves sometimes.

The tall dark-haired boy whipped his head around. His eyes were smoldering. Chris flashed him an almost friendly version of a predatory smile. He was getting angry. Of course, Chris was going to like that. Despite her quick temper, she was usually the one who got others angry - it was her job, after all.

"Just a piece of friendly advice," Chris dropped her voice to a semi-whisper, "don't stare at the people you're crushing on. It's fine for most people, but for you...well, it makes you look like a stalker who's the son of Godzilla." With that sentence, Chris smiled cheerily, before sauntering off in Isaac's direction.

"'Sup, O'Cassedy," she said. "We're partners. But don't be concerned, I'm good at this thing."

"Je vais vous permettre de choisir votre partenaire," Mrs. Cécile Fabron, Kyler's French teacher, spoke in her usual manner. In Mrs. Fabron's class, she would usually say everything in French, point to someone random, and expect them to translate it. Of course, this was an advanced class, so the technique had a relatively high success rate. If someone didn't get it correct, Ms. Fabron would get someone else to correct them, and teach the student what they got wrong in the translation.

The near-gaunt French teacher pointed at Desirae Toole, one of the popular students in school, to translate, a strand of mousy brown hair falling from her rather loose bun in the process. Desirae straightened up. The blonde, like Kyler, wasn't an especially good student. But like Ky, her best subject was French.

"I will allow you to choose your partner," Desirae translated. Ms. Fabron nodded sharply in approval, turning to the board. The brunette woman then explained how she wanted the partner project done; anything on French culture, from food to the military, it didn't matter. Each pair was to make a poster board on their findings, and everything had to be in French. A single thing in English, and points would be taken off.

"Votre choix de partenaire sera soit un coup de génie, soit votre chute!" Ms. Fabron shouted, slamming her ruler on the desk. Everybody jumped in their seats, and using the ruler, Ms. Fabron pointed towards Ky, making a whipping sound in the process. The student she almost whacked winced painfully.

"Um...your choice of partner will be either a stroke of genius or your fall!" Kyler translated, slightly startled by Ms. Fabron's...ruler work. The French teacher slammed her ruler on her desk once again. She leaned forward, eyes unnaturally wide, her head sticking out in Ky's direction. If this were a cartoon, Ms. Fabron's eyeballs would be popping out of her head.

"There is no 'um'!" she hissed sharply in French. "What you said was not grammatically correct!" With that, Ms. Fabron slammed her ruler on her table once again, turning around towards the whiteboard.

Yeah, she could be a bit kooky at times.

The whiteboard had a list of every single topic you could choose to do the project on - only one pair per project. "When you have successfully found a partner," Ms. Fabron finally said something in English, before switching back to French, "come to me with your topic request. French only." Ms. Fabron had drawled out the last part. "Begin!"

Kyler wasn't sure who to partner up with - despite his popularity, he wasn't especially good at academics, so people tended to avoid him. Now Ky just needed to find a partner who wouldn't reject him - or better yet, a partner who'd approach Kyler themselves.

Berny, like always, was punctual and sitting at the front of the classroom in the center desk. She had her notebook opened to a clean page, sitting precisely in the center of her little desk with a freshly sharpened pencil a top it. It's not that she particularly liked Geometry more or less than any of the other subjects she was taking. But, she refused to fail a class... even if that wasn't the purpose for her being her. Plus, she read enough books in her very long lifetime to make it almost impossible to fail classes.

She smiled and wiggled her fingers as some of her classmates that entered the room acknowledged her. Of course, Bern let her gaze drift over to her human every so often. But, only when she was certain he wasn't looking. None of this would work if she came storming in like a bat of hell, determined to change someone's ways. So, staring at them like a gawking school girl is not the way to do this. Although, she'd be blind if she hadn't noticed some of the other girls in their school looking at him.

Ollie seemed like the type that would prefer to go completely unnoticed. And for the most part, Berny thought he succeeded. He kept to himself, was quiet and sheepish. But, he was attractive. It's hard for anyone who looks anything above average to remain hidden for long enough. Although she doesn't know personally. She's been told by Chris on multiple occasions that she's about as noticeable as Christmas lights in June... Bern doesn't really do that whole blending in thing.

As the bell rang, Mr. Miller walked into the classroom and greeted the class. "Hello class. I hope you all had a good and rested weekend. As you know for the past couple weeks we have been focusing on trigonometry using sine, cosine and tangent to fine angles, side lengths and surface areas of triangles. Since some of us did not do so well on the test, me being the gracious teacher I am... I'm giving you all the chance to make up the grade. Or, for those of you who passed with flying colors-" He looked right at Bern with a nod of his head. "An opportunity for some extra credit."

Mr. Miller walked over to his desk, taking a seat. He pulled out the remote for the projector and turned it on. Then he clicked around on his computer until the assignment popped up on the screen. He stood back up and went up beside the board. "Everyone will choose a partner. You will have to go out into the real world." He then waved his hands around pretending to be scared, making the class chuckle. "Oooohhh scary. But, yes. The real world. You have to find twenty triangles either from trees, a play set, an escalator at the mall... Where ever. Just, twenty triangles. You need to use the pythagorean theorem, sine, cosine and tangent to find the angles, lengths of the sides and area of each triangle. You have until this time next week to turn it in. You will only have today's class to choose a partner and figure out your plan. The rest of the project must be done outside of class. You must take a picture of each triangle. And... If you use anything within the school as a triangle, I will know and you will get no credit for the assignment."

So, naturally, the whole class began to groan and whine about having to do a project that involved so much out of school work. But what did they expect? It's not like teacher's give do overs for failing a test easily. They'd have to work for it. Bern wasn't put off about it as everyone else was. Extra credit was always a nice boost to the GPA. But more specifically, she knew someone who could also use the boost. And it so happen to be her human...

Bern, quickly snatched up her things and stood up from her desk. She wasn't expecting the audience of eager eyes all gazing up at her as she turned to face the classroom. She didn't have to be an emotion to be able to sense that everyone was waiting on her to choose a partner or all pounce at once. She was the smartest in the class, so it only seemed fitting they'd want her as a partner.

Before they could all attack her at once, she snaked her way through the desks over to Ollie's. Her grasp on her books tightened when she stopped beside his desk. She bit her bottom lip, rocking back and forth on her heels before finally speaking up. "Hey Ollie." She smiled down at him, giving a slight wave of her fingers as she addressed him. "Would you maybe want to partner up?" Berny stood there silent for a moment before adding another comment. "I have a couple good ideas... And a camera." She laughed softly.

Bodhi sat at the desk farthest possible from the front of the room but in the aisle that was closest to the exit. Honestly, he didn't even remember which class it was. Not like he cared. He knew he was in the right class room... Right seat. That was good enough for him. He never came prepared. Bodhi didn't know if he even owned a notebook. He had a pencil though... Partial credit.

He had his ear buds snaked up through the sleeve of his jacket, and his cheek resting in the palm of his hand so that he could listen to music from his phone in his pocket. Bodhi's eyes were closed, his head bobbing to the beat of the song along with his foot tapping. But he was quickly snapped out of it when something shoved his hand out from under his jaw. His head nearly hit the table with the lack of support, his ear buds yanked from his ears. "Son of a—" He stopped mid sentence when he opened his eyes to see Ms. Schmidt standing right beside his desk.

"Oh please, don't stop on my account."

The class all chuckled and exchanged whispers until Bodhi shot them the master of all death glares. When he looked back towards the teacher, her hand was held out expectantly waiting for him to hand over his phone. He groaned, yanking the headphones out of his phone and a little too aggressively placed it in her hand. He cleared his throat, almost sounding like a growl as he ran his hand back through his long hair, sitting up straight.

"Correct me if I am wrong Mr. Linch. But, this is now your third attempt at taking this class. If you ever planning on graduating, you'll need to pay attention." With his phone in hand, she pivoted on her heels and headed towards the front of the classroom.

"But then I wouldn't be able to sleep without your snooze inducing lectures," Bodhi retorted dryly under his breath.

"Detention." She concluded without turning to face him, placing his cellphone in her desk drawer.

"Are you fucking kidding me!?"

"Saturday detention too." Ms. Schmidt slammed shut the draw of her desk, glaring straight at him. "Want to go for another?"

Bodhi clenched his jaw, slinking down in his seat but remaining quiet. He kept his gaze forward but could feel the judgmental stares of his classmates in the back of his head. But he didn't look toward the teacher bitch either. He wouldn't give her the satisfaction of thinking he was paying attention.

"Alright class, moving on. Today we will start the Constitution project." Ok, so he was in government. That's a start. "You'll have a week. You can choose your partners if you'd like, but pick wisely. If your partner slacks on their duties-" her gaze drifted to Bodhi and it took everything in his power not to flip her the bird. "I will not adjust the grade. You will need to find thirty different newspaper articles that directly relate to one of the amendments in the constitution. You may not repeat articles or amendments. Choose your partners and I'll had out the project syllabus."

Bodhi rolled his eyes, slinking even farther into his seat. Another F for the collection. Maybe if he was lucky he could attempt to do it on his own. Doubtful that Ms. Schmidt would give him a passing grade for it though. Plus, who buys fucking newspapers anymore? Bodhi almost always worked when he wasn't in school and he still barely made enough money to pay for his shitty studio apartment. He couldn't afford wasting his money on worthless newspapers just to cut them up.

This is going to be great.

Ivy probably took way longer to get changed into 'gym appropriate' attire for class... If you could call it that. She honestly didn't give two shits, but one thing her father can't do is bribe or blackmail her into getting an A for every class. Gym was the easiest to pass... As long as you try you get an A, so she tried. But that didn't mean she wasn't going to look cute while doing it. How else do you pick up hotties besides bending over in short shorts?

She strutted her way out of the locker room, nearly getting trampled by some of the intimidating boys in her class as they bullied the O'Cassedy kid. "Watch it!" Ivy shouted at one of the brutes who bumped into her. She shoved him out of the way, nearly knocking him to the ground in the process.

The guy turned around to face her with his fist balled. But once he saw it was her, his expression changed from anger to apologetic and almost flirtatious. "Uh... Sorry there Ivy. What'd you say you let me make it up to you this Saturday night?"

Ivy smirked. Oh, how she loved the attention of dumb boys. She considered it for a minute but the looks of this steroid football jokey, his dick was probably no bigger than her pinky and she'd be lucky if he lasted two pumps. "Oh, Bradley Hilton." She took a step towards him, batting her eyelashes and placing her hand on his shoulder. "I would... But by the size of your fucking ridiculous pickup truck outside... I know you're not packing." She patted his cheek and then walked past him.

She spared a sideways glance to the weird new Chris chick who was standing up to the other jokes that felt like bullying the introvert. Ivy didn't quite understand that chick. She had a temper on her, and didn't seem like the friendliest. Not that her and Ivy ever talked, but then again, Chris wasn't Ivy's type. And if they aren't worth getting in bed, then they aren't worth her time.

"Ms. Warren," Coach Hase stopped her as she walked over to the bleachers. "Do you really believe that to be proper active attire?"

"You'd be surprised all the activities I can do in clothes like this." Ivy let a little of her sex kitten voice flip off her tongue like silk. If she didn't know better she could have sworn she saw his brow quirk... Just a bit.

"Well," he cleared his throat. "If you can't keep up in class, you'll be deducted points."

"I'm sure I'll find some way to make them up if I lose them." She smiled to the coach before going and taking a seat.

"Today we are starting our self-defense unit, which we will be doing for the next few weeks... You will be pairing up. Choose your partners wisely. As we learn new skills, we will be practice fighting against each other. And by all means, you are not to harm anybody. This is self-defense, not swordfighting."

Ivy's grin grew as she leaned back on her hands, crossing one slender leg over the other. Her gaze scanned the class like a predator choosing her prey. It wasn't just a choice of who to partner with... But who she wanted to dominate on and off the mat.

It hadn't even been a full year since Isaac transferred to Harrison High School and he was already resorting to using the showers to change. It wasn't that he was the only one doing that-- there were a handful of boys that preferred the semi-privacy of the stalls over the open rows of lockers, but most of his classmates just didn't want to parade their partially, if not fully, naked bodies around the sweaty locker room. It wasn't like Isaac's, who did it because he had partially naked boys taunting him wherever he went.

The whole idea of getting a "fresh" start at Harrison had been shattered as soon as Isaac realized that his wholehearted attempts to stay out of people's radar were futile. For some damned reason. So, it was as if he had never left Boston, except this was much worse. His previous school wasn't filled with jocks that pushed him around; it was filled with competitive kids hungry for success, extracurriculars, and A's-- anything that would make them look good on their college applications, even if it meant they had to run over someone else to get the positions. They were even more verbal, but never physical with their manner of bullying. Sure, their words stung but the bruises... God, it was a daily battle to make sure that his parents didn't see them.

Isaac wasn't one to linger in the locker room for any amount longer than needed so he was quick change and head towards the door, hoping to escape the musky place and make his way into the cool-air of the gym. Unfortunately, Rui, who was still shirtless, caught sight of him. Stepping in front of Isaac with crossed arms, Rui obstructed Isaac's beeline to the door.

Isaac was stopped dead in his tracks and his eyes shot down to the gray floor.

"Where you going, Cassie?"

The question itself was actually stupid, considering that it was PE, but Rui was obviously not one to excel in subjects that didn't involve physical activity. And that nickname... despite the obvious fact that it stemmed from his last name, it was also a jab how Rui saw Isaac. It wasn't the first time that Isaac's soft and reserved demeanor was connected to the idea of him being feminine, and it certainly wasn't the first time that rumors of him being homosexual circulated a group. But it still bothered Isaac for more than personal reasons.

"I heard that we'll be fighting each other in class," The bully said, smirking. By now, two of his other friends had joined him. "Can you believe it? An actual opportunity for me to kick your ass and not get in trouble."

The boys that had tuned in chuckled, while a few others lingered a bit away, not saying anything but not looking at the group with approving eyes either.

Isaac didn't show it in his expression, but a feeling of dread washed over him. Considering that he didn't have a lot of friends to notify him of this sort of thing, the news came as a shock to Isaac. Fighting? That would be impossible. Perhaps Rui saw the flag football unit as an opportunity to physically attack him without much repercussion.

The thought made his heart pound against his chest, and it was painful. It felt as if his rib cage was compressing so, with clumsy steps, Isaac moved around the group of boys and towards the exit. Instead of looking up, his arms reached out using them as guidance while he hoped to find the cold metal doors quickly.

Behind him, Rui hustled to put his shirt on and follow the trail of the skinny boy. "It'll be fun, I promise. At least for me," Rui called after him, the door slamming behind the posse of boys that followed the bully. Seeing that Isaac wasn't stopping or turning around, Rui added, "Aw, come on, Cassie," before shoving the boy.

A gasp escaped his lips as the air in his lungs was pushed out of him from the force. His body stumbled forward and he fell on an unexpecting girl, who also shoved him away. "S-sorry," he stuttered, his eyes looking down and already brimmed with tears, but the girl either didn't hear him or didn't care.

It was then when he heard Chris's voice. He was surprised that she would say anything --that anyone would say anything, actually, since most people preferred to turn their eyes away.

From the place he where he stood, hunched over, which was about two meters away from where Chris and Rui stood, Isaac watched as the short girl spoke back to the boy who had decided to make Isaac his punching bag. Well, actually Isaac looked up every so often because he could only glance up for a couple of seconds before having to look down. Then, she looked turned to Isaac and his eyes widened. "I freak people out like that all the time."

His mouth opened, ready to say a shaky "thanks," but Chris turned around and moved towards the rest of the class before Isaac could say anything. Or rather, before Isaac dared to say anything. Gulping, Isaac walked over to the bleachers and sat on the edge of the and as far away from Rui and his group as possible.

So it was worse than flag football. God, why hadn't he just made up the excuse of feeling sick again? Coach Hase knew of Isaac's lower immune system, and although he wasn't that much more lenient with the blue-eyed boy than with the other students, it did get him out of activities every so often. Isaac tried to use the excuse sparingly so it wouldn't feel like a habit to Hase and Isaac was feeling like he should definitely cash in that card when he saw Rui walking towards him. He could already feel the bruises.

Isaac's eyes flashed in alarm, looking for someone else who he could work him. Someone smaller and with less muscle-- someone who would be more gentle. Then, Chris approached him instead and he saw Rui go over and team up with one of his buddies.

"I'm good at this thing."

Was it reasonable to say that those words scared Isaac? Sure, Chris was smaller than him but he also didn't doubt that a good punch could be packed with those fists. But then again, hadn't she just stood up for him back there? While Chris was intimidating and scared at least half the class with just her presence, Isaac had never seen her bothering anyone the way Rui went about bullying people like him. And wasn't she actually part of Bernadette's family or something?

Isaac nodded slightly in recognition. He didn't have a choice anyway; better her than Rui. Probably. "Hi there, Chris," he said, his voice almost inaudible against the background noise of the gym and his left hand already starting to fidget with his shirt. But at least it was something.

Clearing his throat, Isaac added, not realizing how sad his words could actually sound: "I, uh, took a year of Tae Kwan Do when I was seven... but as you can imagine, I'm not very good at this."

ettie miller love
dialogue: #F1C40F

Ettie had made a small mistake in judgement.

She had arrived at the classroom less than two minutes into the passing period and, making a choice that very few would willingly make, the teen had placed her heart-shaped backpack besides a desk that sat on the first row. Getting to the teacher's good side had been the last things on her mind-- rather, Ettie had been lured by the single window whose blinds Mrs. Schmidt had uncharacteristically left open from where, if Ettie sat straight enough, she could gaze out into the courtyard and look down at all of the students walking to their next classes. From a second-floor classroom, Ettie could barely see their faces but it didn't matter. Seeing them laugh, talk, and some even kiss was enough for her.

In fact, Ettie had forgotten what it felt like to be so close to humans.

Feeling a tap on her shoulder, Ettie's attention was drawn away from the scenery and towards the curly-haired girl that sat behind her. Elena, a classmate from art class who always had paint splashed on her jeans and tainted fingers, looked at her with a bright smile. She felt the girl's hand brush warmly against her arm as Elena began to speak about the latest art assignment.

It was actually hard for Ettie to concentrate on what the girl was saying while she admired the way Elena's laugh lines appeared so easily and the way her hair fell into a new position with the slightest movement. For Ettie, it was easy to forget that she was here as a form of punishment for her catastrophic flaws-- she couldn't help it, high school, despite its negative sides, was brimmed with love and hormones, with the radiance that was so often lost in adulthood and with minds that still yearned to dream. In a way, it made her feel right at home.

But her human wasn't overflowing with love or happiness like the girl in front of her.

Amongst the sea of students taking advantage of the few minutes of passing time to talk and fool around, a figure walked in that caught her attention immediately. Bodhi. Ettie knew who her human was, all of the emotions did, but there was a specific tug in her human heart the moment he stepped inside. Ettie's gaze lingered as she watched Bodhi take a seat on the opposite side of the classroom from her, and Elena followed her gaze, grimacing as she saw who had caught her friend's attention.

"What's wrong, babe?" Elena asked, chuckling, "Are us tormented artists not dark enough for you?"

Ettie's eyes turned back to her friend, blinking a few times, her expression serious before a warm laugh escaped her lips. Ettie shook her head, "Elena, you are like a ray of sunshine."

With that, Ettie turned around, her smile faltering as soon as she was looking straight ahead. How could she have been such an idiot? She couldn't even look at the guy from where she was sitting, dammit.

Throughout the class, Ettie couldn't help but look over her shoulder at the other extreme of the classroom where her human sat -or, rather slept- whenever Mrs. Schmidt looked another way. Of course, this had actually earned her some disapproving glances her way from the woman -and a few questioning looks from Elena- since Ettie didn't have any experience with this sort of thing but she didn't care either way. She actually cursed the fact that Bodhi didn't even look her way but, in reality, it was probably good that he didn't spot the brown-eyed girl looking at him with wide eyes. It would've probably made him avoid her like the plague. If he didn't already.

In fact, Ettie couldn't get enough glances. The clock above the board ticked away and, despite this being her first class with Bodhi, she was getting desperate with the lack of quick progress.

It was probably this constant glancing that finally drew Mrs. Schmidt over the edge and caused her to storm over to Bodhi. The whole class turned to watch the spectacle and, taking advantage of this excuse, Ettie fully turned in her chair, ignoring how the arm rest dug into her side.

Ettie heard Elena and the rest of the class chuckle, but it was hard for the emotion to find this situation amusing at all. A frown formed on her face -sure, the teacher was within reason but she didn't like her human being treated like that anyways- and it remained until Ettie heard the teacher start talking about a project. How lucky of them.

As the class dispersed, Ettie could already feel hopeful eyes burning the back of her head. Ettie stood up and looked down at Elena. She couldn't waste this opportunity to approach Bodhi so she very unsubtly motioned towards another classmate. "Don't look at me with that face, dear. Mr. Adari over there looks like he's dying to do this project with you."

Her friend's eyes widened at the comment but Ettie didn't waste another minute and, throwing her backpack over her right shoulder, she moved over to the back of the room, her movement light and almost in a dancing manner. People were standing and finding their partners, mostly just choosing their closest friend in said class, but a few had already sat down and taken a seat on the desks around Bodhi since they were the farthest from the front.

But Ettie needed to sit beside him so she rested her hand on the shoulder of the boy who had taken her seat, squeezing slightly. "May I, dear?" she asked, sitting down almost immediately after. Ettie would've blown the boy a kiss but at least she knew slightly better, which was probably something not very common for her, and contained herself.

"Hi Bodhi," Ettie said, smiling brightly. She actually wasn't sure what to say-- she really didn't know much about her human and hadn't thought to think of something before sitting down. But it was too late to not say anything.

"So my friend kind of bailed on me and everyone else already has a partner." This was obviously false, considering that some people still looked slightly lost. "So, partners-- you and me? I know the Constitution basically by heart so I promise this won't be hard at all." A lie. She had no idea what the heck it was. Or rather, she had never cared. Now, ask her about a Renoir painting and that would be a different story.

Berny stood before Ollie with her hands holding her notebook against her torso. A bright effortless smile graced her soft peach lips. The poor boy looked like a deer in headlights, but she wouldn't falter. Not disgustingly pushy, she wasn't like that. But, friendly that's all she could do. If he said no? Well then... She'd have to find someone else. Although everyone in the class said hi to her, she didn't consider them her friends. All she knew about them was their names, and that gossip was as fluent as english for them.

"Are you sure?" Bern pursed her lips slightly with a cock of her head. Did he not see her bee line straight for him? It probably looked like a crush or something else to the eyes of their classmates. Why would the smartest girl in the class chose someone who struggled so much? They could think what they wanted, she didn't care.

"I mean... yeah. Yeah, that sounds really good."

Berny's smile grew along with a twinkle in her eye. "Great!... Do you mind?" She asked politely, before setting her notebook down on his desk for a moment. She grabbed the nearest empty desk and slid it right up beside his. She slid onto the seat before reaching out and taking back her book. "Thank you."

Her gaze fell as she caught a glimpse of Ollie's doodles in his sketchbook. "Did you draw those?" She extended her index finger pointing to one of the many little drawings. "I've always loved art... music... books." She shrugged her shoulders. "I've never tried myself, but my imagination always seems to be bursting at the seams." She giggled softly.

Bern reached up, pulling a pencil from her hair and began to write on her clean sheet of paper. Geometry project: Berny Novak & Ollie... "It's Stevens... Right?" she asked with furrowed brows. Once she got that written down, she turned her full attention to her partner. "I think it's a safe bet that everyone here is going to stay as close to school as possible to do this project. But I thought it could be fun, and maybe get us extra points, if we went somewhere unique. We could go take pictures after school today and then over the next couple days figure out all the boring stuff."

She felt like she was talking a lot. Hell, maybe she was. But from what Berny remembered, Ollie wasn't much of a talker. In her mind it seemed like a perfect pair. He seemed like a good listener. If he started looking freaked out again she'd slow down, but nothing is more awkward than two quiet people just staring at the desk, tapping their feet.

Berny chewed on her bottom lip for a moment as she thought, tapping her pencil eraser against her notebook. After a minute or two,
she turned herself in an odd angle in her desk to face Ollie. So much so, that her knees even bumped his. A grin grew on her lips yet again. This time she leaned a little closer, so to whisper her idea without others hearing. "We should go to the art museum."

"Hi Bodhi," a voice chimed in to his side. Bodhi barely managed to turn his head to face her, his dead pan stare following suit. Ettie Miller. Wonderful. His nose flared slightly as he sighed heavily, rolling his eyes.

"So my friend kind of bailed on me and everyone else already has a partner. So, partners-- you and me? I know the Constitution basically by heart so I promise this won't be hard at all."

"No she didn't," he replied with a bitter sharpness. "You bailed on her to dance your way over to me." Bodhi may make bad decisions. Hell, he might have even killed his step father. But, contrary to popular belief he is not stupid.

Bodhi began to aggressively tap his fingers along the surface of his desk. It may have seemed like mindless beating but it was a new song that he had been trying to figure out the tricky chorus for over a month. He clenched his fist when the brunette still did not leave, and slammed it down on the table. "Look I don't know what it is with you girls and your obsession with your quote 'bad boys'," he made air quotes with his fingers. "But I'm not interested.... Try Travis Preston if you want that. I hear he puts out," Bodhi said with a rude imitation of a valley girl.

He went to put his headphones back in but remember that the bitch took his phone. Bodhi clenched his jaw, closing his eyes. When he opened them, to no surprise, Ettie still stood there. "You know the constitution by heart? The only thing you look like you have memorized is L'Oreal... There is no amendment giving you a right to wear makeup."

Bodhi wanted her to leave and she wasn't going anywhere. "We're done here."

He stood up and went to shove past the brunette only to be met by Mrs. Schmidt. "Oh, wonderful," the wench said with fake optimism. "I'm sure you both will work swimmingly together. I'll mark you down as a pair." She then walked back up to her desk to write down their names.

"Son of a bitch," he cursed under his breath, flopping back down into his desk chair. He stared out the door into the hall, wondering how many detentions he'd get if he just walked out. He could always get his G.E.D. in prison. Then he wouldn't have to deal with high schoolers and dumb air headed girls who think that he is some John Bender in The Breakfast Club.

Maybe if she did know the constitution, he could get away with doing no work. He didn't have to like her... Just use her. Get a passing grade, get out of this school and then the state... Once his parole was over that is.

"Do you even know what the second amendment is?"

"Ivy Warren, right? Fancy having your ass kicked?"

Ivy leaned back on the bleachers, placing her hands on the seat behind her. She started with her new companies feet, her eyes slowly trailing up her slender legs until finally somewhere she found a face midst the blonde hair. Man, was that a smile that could get her in t.r.o.u.b.l.e. She slowly uncrossed her legs and stood up so that they were eye to eye. "Promise you won't be gentle?" she asked with a smirk and suggestive raise of her brow.

She walked past Zoe, once more giving her the look over as she made her way to one of the training mats. Ivy adjusted her socks and tightened her ponytail as Coach Hale addressed them all again. "Alright! Today, you and your partner will be training based on what you already know! We will start the actual self-defense lessons tomorrow, but today is going to consist of training simply on your previous knowledge. Today, you may also practice with other pairs, since we are not harnessing our skills on a particular technique. There is no need to stick with your partner on this one."

Ivy shot Hale a friendly smile. Purely platonic... Then looked back to Zoe. "Did you want to warm up with someone else and save the best for last?" She grabbed the hem of her sweatshirt, pulling it up and over her head. She tossed it to the side with her sunglasses, then began to stretch. "Or would you like to get straight down to business?"

She spread her legs, bending over and stretching her body in either direction. Ivy then stood up and made sure to loosen up the gluts, quads and deltoids. After all, she was known for being flexible and limber... Couldn't be pulling a muscle before anything fun happened.

Ettie had to deal with people very similar to Bodhi countless of times over the years. Yes, here were more bitter than loving people in this world. But she always kept a distance from humans, allowing her to feel more detached and less moved by anything they did. If anything did go terrible wrong, anyways, she could always use stronger doses of her power. But this was a completely different experience.

Never before had she been directly spoken to that way. Well, he wasn't even looking at her. So, to no surprise, Ettie was initially taken back by Bodhi's sharp tone-- the words themselves were nothing to her, but the bitterness in them made her physically move back as if a few centimeters more of distance could shield her from the cold, initial effect they had on her.

You knew he'd be like that, Ettie reminded herself. And it's not his fault. You can't let him get to you. The effect wasn't long-lasting, thankfully, and she quickly recovered, ready to say something else.

Ettie's eyes turned to Bodhi's fingers, which had started moving. Despite being proficient in the arts, it was hard to say that anyone, including Ettie, would've guessed that the tapping was meant to match what would hopefully become a song, so her eyes quickly flashed over to Elena, who appeared to be a little more red on the cheeks than usual. She and Raj Adari seemed unable to stop smiling and, seeing this made Ettie smile slightly. "She made her decision and look at her, she's having a great time. I see nothing wrong--"

She stopped when she heard and saw Bodhi's fist slam down on the desk, her body jumping a little at the unexpected movement. This made a few heads turn, but Ettie ignored them. Instead, the words that followed made her bite her lip.

And not in the way he intended, probably. Instead, she was trying to hold back a laugh and it was clear from her expression. Bad boys? L'Oreal? What was this boy talking about? The laugh finally escaped once he mentioned the second amendment. It was nothing out of the ordinary, but there was certainly a natural warmth to the sing-song laughter that was contagious to most people. The only thing that bothered her out of those sentences was Bodhi mentioning Travis, a boy who used love as a weapon against so many girls. It was hard to be fond of that boy and a bit insulting for anyone to think that she would enjoy being around him at all.

As she watched Bodhi stand up, obviously desperate to get away from her, Ettie managed to stop laughing and call after him, "Bodhi, come on--"

There was some tenderness in her tone, but she didn't bother saying anything else because she saw Mrs. Schimdt stop Bodhi before he could get too far. Ettie, to be honest, wasn't the scholar student but she was certainly loved, or at least liked, by all teachers. She was glad of it because the teacher gave her a small smile before turning to the escapee. Ettie would've made sure that Bodhi was her partner no matter what, but Mrs. Schmidt had just made it easier for her.

A bright smile appeared on Ettie's red lips as she watched Bodhi sit down back down. "Isn't this wonderful?"

"Now, let's get one thing clear, sweetie," Ettie said, brushing aside his question and mentally telling herself that she would have to remember that thing, not that it would be a problem for her.

It was common for her to address people like that, with dears and sweeties and loves, so it didn't even come to mind to take it out of her speech with Bodhi. Ettie leaned over the railing of the desk so that she could cut the space between them and speak in a lower voice. Her tone was more serious this time, but her voice was naturally on the softer and sweeter side, so there was still warmth in it. "If I wanted to roll in bed with you I would've already told you-- directly. But it's cute for you to think that I do."

She was Love, so it was easy for her to find something in Bodhi that she liked. But what he had said had not been Ettie's first thought when she saw him since, to people's surprise, sex was not the first thing Love thought of. Not that she spoke against it, but if it was going to scare Bodhi away, she needed to address it.

With that said, she raised her voice to her normal volume and sat straight up again and shrugged her shoulders, "Bodhi, you probably deserve a break from Mrs. Schmidt constantly breathing down your back. If we work together, she'll be one less thing for you to worry about. I'm not going to do all the work for you, but it will be easier if we work together."

Anyways," she added with a small sigh, "I'm sure my dads have old newspapers that we can use, and I don't think we will take too long. Where do you want to meet? I don't care where, but if you want, we can do it at my house."

"Yeah. That's an amazing idea," Ollie replied. Bern's smile only seemed to grow, her delicate hands hooking around the edge of her desk as she gave him her attention. "There's a new modern art exhibition on at the minute. From what I've seen, it's very geometric and will be perfect for this assignment. I've been meaning to go anyway."

She could almost feel the air around Ollie lighten, if not a fraction. It seemed to Bern that the mention of art opened him up, if only for a moment. But as soon as the hermit crab peaked its head out of its shell, it recoiled, causing her smile to fade slightly. She shifted in her seat slightly, crossing one leg over the other but not shifting her attention from him.

"Or... are you one of those people who thinks modern art is all nonsense?"

Her brows furrowed. "...Why would I suggest going if I thought any of the art would be nonsense?" she asked in reply. Bern's voice wasn't harsh or accusing, but soft. A subtle way of trying to show that she wouldn't offer or say something she never meant. Maybe not reassuring, but she's a honest person. Hopefully... He'll see that some day. She cleared her throat, brushing loose curls behind her ears. "I'll be honest with you though," she said with a hushed tone. Her smile returning. "I've never actually been to the art museum... But, I've always wanted to."

With that, Bern wrote 'Art Museum' down on her page beneath their names. As her pen moved slowly along the page, she couldn't help but let her gaze occasionally shift over to the corner of her eye. She looked Ollie over, before she underlined her words in the notebook. "So..." She chewed on her cheek. "If I remember correctly, The Gulfport Galleria of Fine Arts is a little too far to walk to. I have a car... unless you'd rather drive or take a bus." She shrugged her shoulders. "Either way is fine by me."

Berny gave an innocent smile when she realized she was rambling on again. She has always been the talkative type. She just hoped she wasn't making his head spin. "Then um... The rest of the week after school we could go to the library? Or my place?... Although my sister isn't the friendliest." She chuckled softly. "Unless you wanted to go to your house or something. I'm fine with whatever." She needed to let him make some decisions too. Berny had a habit of being overbearing, and she was trying her hardest to not be. This wasn't going to work if she wound up annoying him.

Well, Ettie Miller sure did scare easily. Even if it didn't deter her enough to leave him alone. Idiot. Everyone at that damned school avoided him like the plague... She should do that. But it always seemed the newer kids at school didn't quite understand even if he had 'Go the fuck away' written on his forehead.

Her red lipped smile made Bodhi's stomach turn after teacher bitch walked away. "Isn't this wonderful?"

"No." He snapped back. Bodhi's gaze rolled as he looked over at her from the corner of his eyes. His jaw clenched and nostrils flared as he made a fist, white knuckling.

"Now, let's get one thing clear, sweetie." It took everything in Bodhi not to jump up from his desk and storm out. He didn't appreciate condescending pet names or being talked down to. Both of which were the current situation. Maybe she meant it as a good thing? He didn't care. She did not know him anywhere in the same wheel house to be calling him anything beyond Bodhi... And barely that. "If I wanted to roll in bed with you I would've already told you-- directly. But it's cute for you to think that I do."

"It wasn't meant as a compliment." His jaw shifted to the side as a growl rumbled in his chest. Cute? Dear God, is this what he was going to have to deal with until this project was finished? Might as well accept the F now.

Ettie then shifted in her seat, sitting up straight and speaking normal... Or whatever you call that. "Bodhi, you probably deserve a break from Mrs. Schmidt constantly breathing down your back. If we work together, she'll be one less thing for you to worry about. I'm not going to do all the work for you, but it will be easier if we work together. Anyways," she sighed. I'm sure my dads have old newspapers that we can use, and I don't think we will take too long. Where do you want to meet? I don't care where, but if you want, we can do it at my house."

"I don't deserve anything... Especially not your pity." Bodhi finally turned his head to actually look at the brunette directly... Eye to eye. "I can handle the bitch. I've been doing it for how many years now? I only have to manage to continue doing it until my parole is up. As for your little project," he made air quotes with his fingers. "Whenever I'm not here, I'm at work. So, unless you wanna park your ass at the end of the counter where I bartend... I can't help you."

Bodhi let himself slump back into his seat, his gaze shifting back to the front of the classroom. "And it's the right to bear arms... The second amendment. Next time your going to lie about being an expert at something you should at least make sure you know that basics." He resumed tapping his fingers on the desk to the different options of chords he could use for a song. His foot tapping along the stead beat count of the music.

"I'm perfectly happy to get straight down to business. As long as you are, that is."

"I'm always down for business... But that doesn't mean I don't also enjoy the journey."Ivy couldn't help but chuckle, pursing her lips in a toxic smirk. Oh, this was going to be fun. She'd bet money that halfway through the class everything with a dick would have their eyes fixed on them. Detention? Most likely. Worth it? Definitely.

Ivy would of had to have been blind not to notice Zoe's lingering gaze. But... She'd be lying if she said she didn't strip down and stretch right in front of her on purpose. Zoe was right in all the wrong ways. A challenge Ivy willingly would take on until the spunky little blonde couldn't walk straight. She loved this part of it... The chase. The Tease. Made it all worth it in her opinion.

"Do you want to get started? Or am I going to have to make the first move?"

Ivy moved to stand opposite of Zoe on their mat. "Always liked a girl who could take charge." She bounced back and forth from her left to right foot. She held her hands up at the ready. Ivy was never much of a fighter. She took some classes a handful of years back... Just to put her parents' hair on end. Mostly self defense though. With the type of reputation she had, it always helped to know how to protect herself. Not everyone took kindly to a tease that either decided not to put out or leave after they did. Plus, everyone likes a little wrestling in the sheets before the finale. So, playing the defense was in her best interest.

"How about we make it interesting, doll. I pin you... You let me take you out tonight." Ivy's grin only grew. "And if you pin me...?" She quirked a brow. You could tell a lot about a person by what they want when they win. Hopefully it was something good... Really good.

Dark abysses met her own and, for the first time, Ettie felt the hairs on her arms rise. How odd.

Even though Bodhi wasn't any more pleased than he had been before she approached him, Ettie considered this as progress. She could tell that he was even more annoyed than when they had begun talking, but this wasn't going to make her leave, even if it was a little disheartening for her.

From this short interaction, Ettie could tell that, in that way, Bodhi was used to getting what he wanted. One bad word or cold gaze and everyone around him would learn to stay away. It didn't cross Ettie's mind that maybe Bodhi stayed away from people because it was easier than letting them into his life. There were a lot of people like that but, being Love, Ettie believed that humans sought love and company unconditionally.

Bodhi's mention of parole came as a surprise, but she tried her best not to show it in her expression. She didn't know anything about her human so this was new information that could be useful since understanding what led Bodhi to this point in his life was important. As for his quotation marks... she noticed he used them a lot. She had paid enough attention to this culture to understand what they meant, even if she didn't know their Constitution.

"It's not out of pity," Ettie corrected him in a soft tone. Of course, nothing she did was meant to belittle people -unless she was mad at them-, but it wasn't in her nature to stay quiet either when she had something to say.

With that, she reached over to her backpack and took out two heart-shaped sticky notes from her pencil pouch, listening as Bodhi mentioned that damn Constitution again. It seemed like he didn't like to leave things said in the past either. On one sticky note, Ettie wrote her name and phone number. Without thinking about it, she drew a small heart at the end of her number.

Realizing this, she glanced over at the boy before scribbling it out, although a few lines couldn't completely hide it, and instead put a smiley face. "That's my number," she said, placing the sticky notes and purple pen on his desk, "And just give me the address and name of the bar. I'll be there at whatever time is best for you."

"Ass parked on that stool for you and everything," she ended with a joking tone. It was unusual for Ettie to use those kinds of words -it was usually under very different circumstances- and to joke, really, but she hoped it would lighten things up.

Something at the back of her head told Ettie to drop the topic but she couldn't help to quickly add: "It's not lying, it's selection of diction-- I'll learn it by tonight, don't worry."

Second Amendment-- Right to bear arms. She wouldn't forget.

Isaac had started to roll up his fingers into a fist but he immediately lowered his hand as he heard Chris's first words, a wave of relief washing through him as he realized that she didn't want to get physical just yet, even though he wasn't sure how they could do this unit without fighting. His eyes glanced all around, seeing that people had already begun practicing. At the corner of his eye, he saw Ivy and a blonde fighting it out fiercely with a flinch before turning back to Chris, hearing the next wave of words that came from the shorter peer.

Doormat? The fact that he was passive didn't mean that words didn't hurt and Isaac frowned in response, taking a step back. She was making sense, but his heart was already pounding. He thought he could do this unit and learn to fight, but his breaking sweat was telling him otherwise. Her words sped by in his mind, "Courage... confidence... after school..."

Her words seemed enticing, but he just... couldn't. Why did he think for a second that he could? Suddenly, he felt a pain in his abdomen and the sweat falling down the side of his temple.

The young boy gulped hard, his hand starting to pull on the edge of his gym shirt. "I-I don't feel good," he suddenly said after a moment, "Sorry." He turned around and ran for the door, cutting in between the pairs practicing the work. Maybe he could at least wait out until the end of the period in the locker room or something.

Ettie's poke at a joke fell flat and she did a mental sigh. She wasn't exactly pleased with the dirty look Bodhi gave her post-it notes either, but it was a detail she could brush aside. He didn't appreciate them. Yet.

Ettie only smiled at the dry question. The parents she had chosen for her human form weren't exactly strict, thankfully, they just asked to know where she was if it was late at night, in case anything happened. The mention that he didn't have a phone made Ettie's smile falter a little. Not because she thought it would be a problem, although not having his number to for easier contact was a problem. She just didn't think about that way. Ettie was fascinated with those little devices. All those dating apps and romance novels accessed with a few clicks? Ettie had quickly become a little... obsessed with them, even though she knew she couldn't actually talk to anyone, as tempted as she was, since it would be a distraction from her real duty.

"I'll find you," Ettie said, nodding her head. She didn't know where the place was, but that's what GPS was for. "And keep my number," she added, "If you ever need a lift or a favor, just ask.

Ettie turned her eyes back to her desk for a moment before looking back at Bodhi. They only had like ten minutes left until class ended and she didn't know if she would have any more classes with him. She hoped so. "Bodhi, why don't you have a phone?" she asked after a second. Her tone wasn't rude or demeaning, she obviously didn't know his situation, but she couldn't get her mind out of how great those apps were-- so many people to meet... Maybe if he had them, Bodhi wouldn't be so... cold. The idea made her eyes widen and she blurted out, "I actually just got this new app and it's so cool. Wanna see it?"

Ollie seemed to slink back into his chair a bit at the question. Not everyone is good at Math, and Bern knows that. He didn't need to be bashful about it, but she didn't say anything. "Not good. I just... don't get geometry. At all. I don't understand the concepts, don't understand their applications..." He shrugged, keeping his gaze fixed on his notebook as he doodled.

Berny pursed her lips, keeping her eyes fixed on him. Wrong question maybe. She watched as he flipped through his notebook to what looked like the homework assignment from a couple days ago. He got one right. That's a start if anything. She was sure he probably didn't see it that way, but that didn't matter. Everyone could be taught.

"I don't even understand where I'm going wrong. Mr. Miller tried explaining it, but I'm obviously not smart enough to get it."

Bern sighed. She hesitantly reached out her hand, and rested it upon his forearm. "Hey... Not everyone is made for book academics. But I'm patient. We'll take it from the beginning and I won't stop until you understand it. Then you can rub your A paper in Miller's face as you skip out of class." She giggled as she patted his arm.

She then began to write in her notebook 'SOH CAH TOA'. "We'll start here... soh cah toa. Sounds like a Native American, right? This has been my hero. This stupid memory trick will help you solve 90% of trig problems..." Then it started. Bern slowly and carefully worded her first lesson to him. She didn't want to overwhelm him, and also refused to treat him like he was stupid. Instead she made sure her words were succinct and clear. She wouldn't move on from one point until he understood it, drawing diagrams, pictures and whatever else to help him visualize what she was saying.

"I'll find you," Ettie said with a nod of her head. Wonderful. "And keep my number. If you ever need a lift or a favor, just ask."

Bodhi clicked his tongue in his mouth, before shoving the stupid post it note into his pocket. He wasn't even going to look at it. Most likely would forget about it until it was in a ball in the bottom of the washer after doing a load of laundry. But, maybe it'd get her to shut up. It was apparent that he wasn't going to be getting rid of her anytime soon, unfortunately. He spun his pen in his fingers, pursing his lips as he stared at the clock. 10 minutes. A fucking lifetime. He sighed, glancing down at the desk. His left hand fingered at the end of his headphone cord, wishing he had his music.

"Bodhi, why don't you have a phone?"

The question caught him off guard, causing him to actually turn his head towards her. If only for a moment. He looked back to the clock, tapping his fingers along the desk. It was a long moment before he finally answered. "Because the only people I'd contact... Are dead." Bodhi left it at that and he hoped she didn't pry. It was none of her business for one. Plus, his personally life is the talk of the school and town. So, if she's desperate to know... Go to the library and read a newspaper.

"I actually just got this new app and it's so cool. Wanna see it?"

Bodhi scoffed, shaking his head as whatever might have been a somewhat tolerable moment was wiped away by Ettie's mouth. "No."

Somehow Zoe was actually grinning, even though she lost. Interesting. "Well, I couldn't have let you win too easily, could I?"

Ivy snorted, releasing the blonde's arm and climbed off of her. She removed her hair tie and began to redo her ponytail now that her hair was barely being held up by the piece of elastic. "You should be happy you didn't actually kick me..." She snatched up her sweatshirt before pivoting around on her heels to face Zoe. "Because I would have kicked your ass... Bad." Ivy loved fun and games, but there was a limit. Trying to kick her... in the face. Risky risky move. She held grudges like no one's business, and had a seriously short temper. So basically, the blonde would have been dead to her before the fight was even over.

She bent over and adjusted her socks. Ivy then put her sweatshirt back on. "Pick you up at 8 then?... Unless you have a bedtime. And don't wear anything... Complicated," Ivy said, waving her hand at Zoe's body with a mischievous smirk. "I need a shower," she said, gathering her things and headed towards the locker room. Ivy hated being sweaty. She was expecting the fight to be over in a blink, but actually had to put forth a little bit of effort. So, a nice hot shower before dealing with the rest of the school day sounded in order.

It was clear that Ettie didn't know about Bodhi's past. No one had told her when she took her human form, even though it might have been good information to know, and the group she had met wasn't... involved enough in gossip that transpired beyond their immediate social groups. Plus, they would have never thought that someone like Ettie would've ever taken the initiative to approach someone like Bodhi. Maybe the gossip would reach her later but, if not, it hadn't even crossed Ettie's mind to look him up in anything other than those new apps of hers. She just hadn't had a place where to start.

So, when she heard his response, there was a mix of surprise and sadness in her eyes. She quickly glanced down, not wanting him to take it as pity, which he had established he hated. Despite being saddened by the thought that Bodhi had lost people who he cared about, that response was golden for Ettie, who had a job to do. It had given her a better idea of what had shaped Bodhi into who he was and, for a lack of better words, a start into looking at how she could "fix" him.

Ettie wasn't surprised by Bodhi's immediate reluctance to look at the apps, although she would've loved to share it with him, and her eyes glanced over at the clock. Less than two minutes left. She wasn't going to start another conversation with him just so that he could cut her off rudely as soon as the bell rang, so she just quietly packed up her stuff and, as soon as the bell rang, she made sure to stand up before Bodhi.

"See you later, Bodhi," she said, flashing him a smile before turning to Elena, who had walked up to her. "Ready, darling?" she asked her friend and the two exited the room. Ettie wanted to look back badly, but she shook her head slightly. No, she would see him later. Maybe in another class.

Image

Ettie didn't spot Bodhi for the rest of the day and, as frustrated as that had made her, she was reassured by the thought that the two would meet up later, even if it was basically against his will. After school, Ettie had driven home and worked on going over the Constitution, shoving any other work aside.

Her thoughts drifted back to Bodhi often, thinking of ways in which she could get more classes with him and how to find him in lunch, but she kept coming back to the amendments. It wasn't as dull as she had imagined; she was especially intrigued by any amendments that dealt with equality. She didn't know the extensive history of the United States, but she at least knew that without those foundations, people wouldn't be able to love as freely as they did today. There was still a long way to go, but humans were slowly getting there. After reading over it twice, she had memorized at least most of it considering that the Aequus had at least a somewhat good memory, save a few exact wordings here and there.

When the time finally came, Ettie had put her computer, a notebook, the newspapers, and some sweets in one of her large purses and gone to her car, a little powder blue Beetle that was probably way too fitting for her. Really, Ettie would've chosen the yellow one if it hadn't reminded her too much of Taxis.

It took her some time to drive to the place, but when she did, Ettie parked in the closest spot. She knew of bars, of course, but for some reason, Ettie didn't feel very comfortable as she walked in. Her eyes glanced around at the people who would think of hanging out at a bar so early on a weekday. For once, she wished she would've changed into pants or something. With a deep breath of the alcohol-infused air, Ettie walked towards the bar, now looking for Bodhi and putting a smile on her face. She didn't even think of her being underage as she took a seat, putting her purse on the empty stool beside her.

Isaac heard running feet behind him and he closed his eyes. Wasn't she just going to let it go?

"Hold it!

He was almost where he wanted to be when the girl caught up with him and, seeing no other way to escape, Isaac came to a stop. The boy didn't turn around, however, for he was already feeling short of breath. Not because of the run, but because of what he feared would follow. Had she purposefully made it so that Isaac would run out and she could hit him without anyone else seeing her? The idea was a far shot, seeing how she had tried to help him, but Isaac wasn't exactly thinking rationally.

Isaac's eyes opened, even though he hadn't even realized when he closed them in the first place, when she heard Chris apologizing. His hand was fidgeting again, hiding the way it was actually shaking, as he turned around his eyes looking down at the polished school floor. He had come to know those floors personally. He managed to glance up for a second and catch her dark eyes, but his eyes shot back down in a split second.

Chris' words sounded sincere. It was the first time that someone had talked to him like that in a long time-- actually, no one had ever said anything like that before. He gulped and began, once again, to consider the idea of her helping him. As she concluded, Isaac nodded his head slightly and began walking back with her slowly. The last thing he needed was getting screamed at by the teacher, although it wouldn't be the first time Isaac walked out.

As he opened the gym door, Isaac froze, his hands on the bar. "I-I'll do it," he said in a soft tone, looking at Chris. There was obvious hesitation in his words; Isaac didn't want to do this, but something told him that he needed to. He could try it and stop if he didn't like it,
after all. "I only have a bike though, so I can't go too far."

Plus, his parents expected him back at a certain time. He could always say that he was working on a project with someone-- it would make them happy, for sure. "So, uh, where should we meet?"

Image

There was a thin layer of perspiration on Isaac's skin. He had biked to where he was supposed to meet Chris for their after school "lessons". He had gone home right after school as he did every day, but today, he had told his mother that he would be meeting up with a partner, keeping the details vague. To her, it was enough to make her smile and let him go his way.

Parking his bike and putting a chain around it, Isaac hopped off. He felt a little nauseous as he walked to the door. Chris had talked about confidence and all that sort of thing in one of her mini rants and Isaac still wasn't fully convinced that this would be good for him. Only two more years until he could get out of this hole that is high school... surely he could make it without her lessons. He had survived before, even though the whole experience had not been too pleasant. At this point, Isaac just didn't think that there was a way to experience high school without the bullies breathing down his back.

Bernadette is Happiness. Check. But no one prepared her for the mother loving traffic. God, she hated traffic. On multiple occasions she wanted to slam her head into the steering wheel, or just up and leave her car... Right there, in the middle of the free way. She could walk right? It wasn't that far. She honestly had no idea how long it had taken her to get to the art museum. But she got out of the car so quickly, that she closed her dress in the door.

"Shit," she muttered under her breath, opening the door to pull her hem from it. Bern jogged around to the back, pulling her camera from the trunk. After double checking that she had her keys, phone and camera... again, she shut the trunk and jogged to the entrance.

It didn't take too long for Berny to find Ollie. She sighed softly, closing the distance between them. She slowly reached her hand out to rest upon his shoulder as she approached him from behind. "Hey, I am so sorry I'm late."

Bern moved to stand before him, giving an apologetic smile. "Traffic was... well, hell." She laughed weakly. When she raised a hand to scratch her head, she felt her birds nest of hair. It must have gotten thoroughly frazzled from her frustrating drive to the museum. Her cheeks flushed slightly, as she quickly pulled the pin from her hair, allowing it to fall past her shoulders. She quickly ran her fingers through her brunette curls, trying to make them somewhat presentable.

"I... uh... got my camera," she said, biting her lip slightly. Her gaze fell to the phone Ollie held in his hand, like he was about to text her. She smiled slightly. "I don't think you have my number, here," she said, holding her camera towards him. "Do you mind?" she asked, before taking his phone gently and placing her camera in his hand for him to hold for her.

Bernadette's thumbs moved along the screen, adding her name into his phone. Berny. 555.0137 She was about to save it, but decided to put a smiley after her name. Once saved, she sent herself a text so that she also had his number. Then, she held the phone out towards him. "There ago... Now you can't get rid of me." She chuckled with a sweet smile, but quickly realized how that sounded. "Well... you know, unless you don't want to be friends anymore."

Bodhi made damn sure not to linger around at school once the final bell rang. Not like he ever did. But, now that he had some overly talkative brunette force him to be her partner... He had better reason to avoid it like the plague. Plus, he had to go to work... Like always.

When he got to the hole in the wall bar, there were already a few middle aged men straggling around the bar and some of the tables. IT wasn't surprising. There were always the regular day drinkers that were in the bar pretty much from open to close. They were the ones that kept the place a float, and they always tipped Bodhi well, so he didn't mind. They didn't want to be talked to. Just keep the drinks coming, and never let them see the bottom of their glass. It was easy, mindless and most of the time he never had to socialize more than asking what someone wanted to drink.

It wasn't long into his shift that he ran out of fresh bottles of bud light under the counter. He patted his hand on the counter in front of one of the regulars, Jim. "Just have to run to the back to grab you another. Did you need anything else?"

"Ya got any of them peanuts?"

"Sure, be right back." Bodhi gave his best attempt at a smile. Which was a barely visible tug at the corner of his mouth. The regulars new him and how he was. It never bothered them. Even though he wasn't talkative or friendly, he was never rude, or gave bad service.

When Bodhi walked around the counter, coming back to the front with a six pack in each hand and peanuts under his arm, he saw Ettie taking a seat. He sighed softly, diverting his gaze before she saw him looking at her. He slid the fresh bottles of bear into the under the counter cooler, pulling one out before closing the door. He clipped the bottle cap on the edge of the counter, slamming his hand down to pop the top. He set the bottle on the counter before Jim with a freshly chilled glass. Bodhi also grabbed a dish, pouring some peanuts into it for the man. "Here ya go, Jim. Sorry about that."

Jim smiled, toasting his drink towards Bodhi. "It's all good. Thanks for the cold one." He slid a fiver towards him.

Bodhi knew better than to refuse the tip. Most of the men in the bar were stubborn and wouldn't back down until he took the tip, no matter how ridiculous. He took the empty glasses from the counter and began cleaning them with a rag as he finally looked over with a more planned gaze towards Ettie.

Harry, an older gentleman that always sat at the corner of the bar smiled at Ettie. "Well, hello little lady." The man's hair was whiter than his teeth, but his smile was warm enough to make anyone smile... Even Bodhi. He was 70... maybe 80. Old war vet that greeted every person who entered the bar. "If you do not mind me saying, you are quite a beautiful young lady." He gave a warm chuckle. "You remind me of my late wife Barbara. She used to have dark hair like yours that glistened red in the sunlight... And a smile that was contagious."

Bodhi set the glasses in the sink, before grabbing a clean one. He filled it with ice and lemonade. He had no idea what Ettie drank, but she didn't look like an alcohol drinker. Something about her said lemonade. He walked over to the two of them, setting the fresh drink on a napkin before Ettie.

"Harry, I think she's a little young for you... Don't you think?" He said, taking an empty glass from Harry. He then got the old man another scotch on the rocks.

"Oh, Bodhi... You know I can't help but compliment a pretty woman." Harry smiled towards Ettie again.

"Harry is harmless," Bodhi said towards Ettie. There may have been a tiny bit of sarcasm in his voice. Harry chuckled at the comment, taking a drink of his scotch. Bodhi felt the need to explain Harry's actions. In part because he didn't know Ettie would react, but all the men in the bar were harmless. They were the type to beat a man for being inappropriate to a woman.

Harry chuckled, taking a drink from his scotch. "I just like to appreciate a warm smile every once in awhile. This place is in short supply of smiles." He smiled towards Ettie one last time with a nod of his head.

Bodhi didn't say anything at the comment. He knew part of that was geared towards himself. No one in this bar has seen him smile aside from a sarcastic or snide smile for humors sake, nothing genuine. He hasn't genuinely smiled since before his sister. It wasn't likely that would change anytime soon. His hand raised to brush back loose strands of hair as he wiped down the counter. "See you found the place."

It took a little work at the front desk of school for Ivy to snake her way into getting Zoe's address. But nothing was out of reach for her when she set her mind to it. She wondered while she was getting ready what time the blonde expected her. Not that it mattered. She'd leave the girl waiting as long as she desired. Raise the anticipation and suspense of it all. Get the girl nervous, anxious... That was always the best.

It took Ivy awhile of sifting through her wardrobe to find the appropriate outfit. Something that was more... revealing than the average outfit to get the juices flowing. But still left enough up to the imagination. Not too much though. Just enough so that it'd make it even harder for Zoe to refuse an invitation to go park somewhere after dinner. She put on her favorite blood red lipstick, grabbed a leather jacket and headed out.

It wasn't long before she pulled into Zoe's driveway. Ivy's '68 mustang rumbled before she shut it off and climbed out of the driver's seat. She shut the door before strutting her way towards the girl's front door. As she stepped onto the porch, she put her sunglasses on her head. After brushing some of the wrinkles out of her skirt, Ivy rang the door bell. She propped her right shoulder against the door frame, waiting for Zoe to answer.

Once the door open, a smirk crossed Ivy's devious lips. "Well, hello there," she said, giving Zoe the once over with her eyes and a quirk of her brow. She pursed her lips in satisfaction before she continued. "Looks like we dressed to match... scandalous." With that, Ivy stepped aside, offering Zoe her arm. "Are you ready for a night you'll never forget?"

Ettie spotted Bodhi coming out from the back shortly after sitting down. She was tempted to call out to him right away, but she saw him approach a customer and decided to wait. Her eyes followed him quietly, not caring if he glanced over and saw her staring, until a deep voice drew her attention away from the dark-haired human.

Her brown eyes turned and saw an older man. At first, Ettie was slightly taken back, surprised by the stranger who had approached her, but this initial reaction was quickly gone. Contrary to what she would've expected to find at a bar at this hour, this man radiated a level of... love, something that she had yet to feel around the high school. It was so inviting to her that it was like a small gravitational pull for the Aequus.

"Thank you, sir," she replied to the compliment. The words that followed confirmed why she was feeling the pull and she couldn't help but smile warmly at the older man. "It sounds like you loved her a lot," she said in a soft voice, always enamored by the way humans expressed her emotion, and glancing over at Bodhi for a moment. It was somewhat easy for Ettie to sense love down here on earth but she couldn't feel the pain and heartbreak associated with losing someone you love-- which was, in fact, the very reason she was here on earth.

It was then that Bodhi approached them, setting down a glass in front of her. Pleasantly surprised, Ettie looked up at Bodhi and thanked him.

"Don't worry, Bodhi," Ettie said with a small laugh, hearing his comment about being too young. He was right and if it hadn't been for the older man's aura, Ettie would've probably taken Harry's approaching the way Bodhi insinuated, "Harry here has been good company."

She watched the man walk away for a moment before turning her stool back so she could face Bodhi. Ettie nodded at his comment, "I did. And I learned the Constitution like I promised."

Ettie then reached into her back and pulled out two or three newspapers, only a fraction of what she had brought. The first title was already highlighted, with the constitution number written in pencil in the margins. She then reached inside again and pulled out a Tupperware container, putting it down on the counter and sliding it towards Bodhi, "I also brought you some cookies. I don't know if you eat before coming to work."

Taking a sip of her lemonade, Ettie smiled at him, "How has the rest of your day been, by the way?"

As soon as Isaac spotted Chris, he made a beeline towards the table, his blue eyes flashing down to the ground. He had never been to this coffee shop before, despite there being barely anything in Gulfport to begin with, but thankfully it was not buzzing with people. It gave way for a more quiet atmosphere for... well, whatever crazy plan Chris had come up with. As reluctant as he was, something told Isaac that it was better he had agreed to come. Chris didn't seem like one of those people to be happy when turned down.

He nodded slightly in greeting at Chris and took a seat in front of her, putting his backpack on the ground.

Under the table, he wiped his palms on his jeans. At the offer of food, Isaac felt his stomach grumble in protest of low food and he was thankful for the offer, although he would've probably gotten himself anything either way. He was opening his mouth to thank her, but she was already ordering. When the attention turned back to him, his eyes widened slightly as he looked up at the waitress. Reaching out for the menu on the table, he did a quick scan of the items, seeing most of the familiar things she would find at a coffee shop, from the coffees to teas to the bakery session.

"Can I have, uh... a banana bread and iced tea, please?" He said after a few seconds, closing the menu and putting it back down on the table.

The waitress wrote down the order and took the menus, leaving them for the meanwhile.

"Thanks for the food," he said softly, smiling a bit. He hadn't gone out with a friend in a really long time and, although he couldn't consider Chris a friend since he barely knew her, he couldn't help but admit that it felt kind of nice. He had very few friends as it was and for those rare times that they met, it was most likely to play video games or something like that. "So, uh, how long have you lived here in Gulport?" he asked after a moment, unsure of how this conversation should go about.

"Don't think you need to worry about that," Ollie replied.

Berny smiled softly. "Well, good." She nodded her head towards him. It was nice to know that Ollie, at least, didn't intend on shutting her out. She knew this was more than making a friend... But her job. But, more than that, Bern truly wanted to befriend him. Something about him caused this sort of magnetic pull. She wanted to help him feel happiness, to know he has a friend and someone to rely on. Everyone needs that. Regardless of the underlying intentions.

She couldn't help the also guilty feeling that tugged at the bottom of her stomach. Bernadette felt like, in part, she was being dishonest and misleading. Not that she was lying or being anything but genuine. It was just that, knowing that she was 'happiness'. And that she had no choice in being there... made her feel... bad. What would happen if or when their humans found out? When they're ripped out of the world leaving a hole in that persons life where they worked so hard to be part of it? She shook her head, trying not to dwell on it.

"So, uh, do you wanna head in?"

"Of course," Bern replied, slipping her camera strap over her left shoulder, tucking the lens in towards her side. Being the playful person she is, she slipped her right arm around his left, allowing him to lead the way—something she did with her friends quite often. It didn't cross her mind that it may be crossing line. She hoped not.

"I feel like you know this place better than I do. So, you lead the way and I'll snap the pictures." She glanced over at him, smiling softly.

"I did. And I learned the Constitution like I promised."

Bodhi nodded his head, glancing at her from the corner of his eye as he continued to wipe down the counters and removed empty glasses. He watched begin to pull newspapers and lord knows what else from her backpack. God, he couldn't believe this. Why him? Why was it that there always seemed to be that one person every month or so determined to wiggle and worm their way into his life? Was there a sign plastered on his forehead or something?

He did a double take when, Ettie also pulled out a tupperware container and set it on the counter. It caused him to freeze where he stood momentarily before continuing to clean. "I also brought you some cookies. I don't know if you eat before coming to work."

Bodhi just stared at it for a minute like it was an alien, then looked over at the brunette. "Uh... thanks?" He had no idea what else to say. He was far too tired and he had too much on his mind to say anything else. She'll get a kick out of something not totally sour coming from his lips.

"How has the rest of your day been, by the way?" Ettie asked.

Bodhi moved along the bar, topping off the regulars drinks or getting them fresh beers. "Uneventful," he replied rather deadpanned. He then poured himself a glass of iced tear. He may be an unconventional bartender, a little too young to 'technically' be allowed to serve alcohol. May not be one for rules either. But, Bodhi did not drink. His late step father made him strongly hate just about everything to do with the poison. Thankfully the men in the bar were kind, quiet and definitely not angry drunks.

"Me and my impossibly high standards can't wait to see what you have in store," Zoe commented with a smirk.

Ivy grinned, leading the blonde down the sidewalk and to the car. "What's the use of standards, if not to break them?" She asked with a flare of sarcasm. She didn't dare humor Zoe by telling her what was in store. What was the fun in that? It was going to be a long night. And all that Ivy knew was, no matter how much Zoe tried to convince herself while getting ready that she was prepared for what the night had in store. She wasn't.

"Nice car." Ivy moved around Zoe, opening the door for her. After all, you can only blow their mind if you are also polite. Ivy made her way around the car and slide into the driver seat. "More the type of car I'd expect to see in a movie car chase than driving around Bridgeport, though."

Ivy didn't say anything as she started her car, and... In a very dramatic way, revved the engine. "Oh honey, you have no idea." From the corner of her eye, she looked over the blonde once again, then nodded her head towards her. "Seat belts... or this show isn't going anywhere."

She waited for Zoe to get buckled in, then sped off down the road. Some might think Ivy was showing off, but in all honesty, she drove the same she does when alone. Fast but skilled like Vin Diesel.... But with boobs. In no time, they pulled up to one of the fanciest and most expensive restaurants in the greater city area. One thing Ivy wasn't short on, was money. Plus, nothing like misleading her date than with a very very nice dinner followed by the real fun.

Ivy pulled her mustang around to the valet, where a young gentleman opened the door for her. She climbed out of the seat, paying no mind to the boy who practically drooled over her. Ivy's sights were set on Zoe that night. Blonde and only blonde was all that she wanted to see. She strutted her way around the front of the car, once again opening the door for her date. "I hope you like authentic Italian." She held out her arm once again, unable to hide the smirk that graced her lips.

Ettie's dark eyes followed Bodhi, watching as he served and attended the customers in a very fluid and learned manner. She wondered how long he had been working here. By the casual and familiar way the costumers interacted with him, she figured he wasn't necessarily new. Even though his one-word response at the end didn't exactly please her, she didn't care because the way he interacted with the older men in the bar (you could even call it a pleasant interaction) showed her that there was perhaps a less angry, even happy, side of Bodhi for her to work with. And this was way better than starting from zero. Really, despite not talking a lot, Ettie was learning a lot from this little... session. She just needed to find a way to maximize their interactions over the next few weeks. Or months, since Ettie didn't know how long they would be here.

Taking a long sip of the served refresher, she took one of the newspapers, quickly skimming over the words.

After a few minutes, she looked back up and folded the newspaper. "School is kind of far, do you walk or drive here?" she asked, taking another drink from her cup. Looking outside, through the tinted windows, she could see that it would start getting dark soon. "Do you live around here?" She added, wondering if Bodhi had to walk in the dark. It wasn't that she thought he couldn't handle it, but she also thought perhaps how tired he could be after long shifts.

Isaac listened, his hands fumbling with a sugar packet he had taken from the middle of the table. When Bernadette was mentioned, his eyebrows raised ever so slightly. He had seen the older girl around, had even gotten a few of those smiles she gives out like gifts to those who needed it the most. Like most boys his age, it was hard to not be entranced by her entity and, like most of the student body, it was kind of hard to believe that someone like Chris and Bernadette were sisters at first. But, after some thought, it was reasonable. Siblings were never the same and it made even more sense if the two were adopted.

Unlike Chris, Isaac wasn't too fond of sharing his past so he shrugged, taking a longer sip of his cold drink than normal. "I moved here six months ago," he said, shrugging again and breaking off a piece of his banana bread. "But nothing special. So, uh, how are you liking it here? Where did you live before this?" He added, wanting to shift the attention away from himself.
