The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 5 authors
Lucky slowly began to come to, and as she did sounds started to pour in from all around her. A gentle breeze, a bird a short ways off, and the comforting sound of breathing and a heartbeat. A heartbeat? Lucky bolted into a seated position, eyes wide. A guy, around her age possibly, lay sleeping beside her, where she had previously been cuddled up next to him. Who the hell is that? she wondered, .... who the hell am I? She rubbed her head with her free hand, the right one. Wait, what? She looked down to her left hand, which felt weighted to the ground. No, not the ground. Him. She closed her eyes, cussing mentally in French as she shook the man beside her.
Just then, her pocket made a noise to catch her attention. Lucky jumped slightly in alarm, not having expected her pocket to make any sort of noise. Did she have a cellphone on her? Confused, she reached her good hand into the pocket of her hunter green shorts and retrieved a slip of paper. Lucky. Lucky. It sounded familiar. Was that-- yes, that was her name. Why did her head hurt so much? More importantly; why was there someone handcuffed to her? Her mind immediately went to 'Saw' the movie, and all the horrible things that went down. Oh, hell no... there better not be some creepy taped voice asking me to play a game, she thought bitterly to herself, her stomach turning over. Her back was hurting from being on the ground for god-knows-how-long, so she slowly began to stand, forcing the male's right arm to lift as she lifted her own left arm. "Wake up, please..." She looked down at him, crouched over him now, half standing and half sitting. He was heavy, and tethering her to the ground. If he didn't wake up soon, her back was really going to be sore.
Lucky glanced around her, noticing other people in similar states of dreaming, as she had been moments before. Aside from one girl; her bright orange hair stood out like a sore thumb. "Hey! You, with the orange hair! Where are we?!" She was the first, and only other person awake, so... maybe she had answers? The orange haired girl had just gotten done saying something but it was too soft to hear from Lucky's distance from her.
Voices. Why was this person - a female - yelling for answers from "you, with the orange hair"? Did she have orange hair? Why did it smell so strongly of the woods around her? The female thought, feeling the warmth of the sun on her skin. She turned her head downward, trying to block it all out. This ground is really warm and.. soft. It feels like a.. t-shirt? The thought didn't completely register for a moment, and when it did, she shot her head up.
Pain shot through her skull, and she winced, groaning and covering her eyes for a moment with her left hand. Moving her hand away slowly, her eyes adjusted to the brightness of being outside. First thing she saw was more people laying unconscious in front of her. Scrambling to get on her feet, she failed and slipped back on her knees, now noticing something held her right hand low to the ground. "Wh-" Was that handcuffs? And who was this male person she was cuffed to? Grabbing the handcuff in her left hand, she tried to wiggle her hand through it but nothing worked. Instead, she laid her right hand back down so he wouldn't jerk awake - and possibly not pull her with him, he looked stronger than she did. But out of curiosity, she lightly poked his shoulder with her left index finger.
Then she remembered the other voices. Turning to look at them, she noticed a piece of paper sticking out of the pocket of her shorts, and she pulled it out carefully to look at it. Jilliane. What a pretty name for someone. she thought before frowning, I think that's my name...
"Excuse me, not to sound rude.. but who has the keys to the handcuffs? Anyone?" Jilliane asked the two females kindly, trying to put on a smile but the situation at hand made her nervous. What if she was cuffed to a killer with good looks? This was not gonna work out easily.
It was a feminine voice that woke him up from his slumber. He grumbling something unintelligible before peeking a bright blue eye open. The sky overhead was blurred, coming in and out of focus as he blinked. His head was aching and his stomach churned. "Dude, how much did I drink last night?" He groaned, propped himself up on his elbows. Everything was becoming clear now, the world painting itself in hues of greens and blues. Oh, I'm in a forest, he thought somberly. Wait...why am I in a forest?...WAIT! Who exactly am I? As he shifted, a rustling was heard in his pocket. He pushed his hand into the pocket of his jeans, fishing out a piece of paper. "Lyfe..." He tasted the name on his tongue before shrugging. "Sounds sexy," He smirked before turning his head to the woman beside him. She was a petite brunette with really cute dimples. Maybe she had some answers. As he opened his mouth, a flash of light hit the corner of his eyes, causing him to squint. He glanced up at his right wrist, finding it cuffed to her left one. His eyes widened. "Hey...uh, I'm sorry if I didn't call you or something, but are the handcuffs really necessary? I mean, we can talk this out, I'll buy you a burger and we can forget this happened," He said, figuring she was one of his conquest gone insane. He pushed himself up further until he was fully standing. His brows furrowed as he beheld the multitude of people cuffed and knocked out. "Okay, this just got weird..." His gaze drifted to the tiny red head as the crazy chick beside him started questioning her. He nodded his head in agreement with her question. "Is this some cult shit? I'm flattered, but I can't be sacrificed. I'm not a virgin...at least...I think I'm not." He used his left hand to scratch the back of his dreadlocks, trying to remember any details about himself. He was failing.
It was bright. He could already tell before he opened his eyes. His chest felt a little lighter for some reason, but also cold. Something was apparently missing. He could hear voices but he didn't recognize any of them. Someone tugged at his hand a little, even poking him in the shoulder. He really just wanted to sleep, hating this drowsy feeling. Stirring slightly, he threw an arm over his eyes to shield them from the light, "Ugh, can't I sleep for five more minutes?" He questioned groggily, suddenly recalling that he didn't recognize any of the voices. As in he was surrounded by strangers. He peeked out from behind his arm, looking to the girl nearest him. Rather slowly, he pulled himself up into a sitting position, unable to will himself to go any higher with the splitting headache that suddenly seemed to plague him, not to mention his back felt bent from sleeping on the hard floor. His hand went to the ground, confirming that it was in fact, a forest he was in. He brought his hand to his head, finding that he dragged along another hand with him. A girl's hand, a girl who was chained to him. "Well then... this is an unexpected turn of events." he managed to mutter, opting to grip his head with his other hand. He willed himself to remember how he got into this mess, noting how nothing came up. He quickly checked his pockets, hoping to find a cell phone or even just a key chain that connected him to some place so he could go home. Instead all he found was a piece of paper with 'Benjamin' written on it. He considers the name for a moment, it seems right, but he wonders why, surely he would remember if it was his name. He looked around some more, finding that other's where awake as well, he opened his mouth as if to say something but nothing came out as he tried to address the group. Confusion spread on his face and instead he turned to the girl he was hand cuffed to, "Excuse me, I'm-" He paused for a moment, glancing down to the piece of paper, giving a small smile as he held it up for her to see, "Well I suppose I'm Benjamin." He shifted a little, for some reason feeling a bit uncomfortable in this social interaction, "You wouldn't happen to know anything about the current situation, do you?"
Her eyes widened, and she didn't say anything to him just yet. In fact, she looked away again. This time, she eyed the forest ground around her, hoping to spot maybe a glint of silver, anything that may resemble a key. Nothing. Just leaves, and branches.. and dirt. They literally had nothing around to get handcuffs unhooked. How were they to get apart then? Maybe you aren't supposed to. The thought nagged at the back of her aching head, but she refused to believe it.
The male was searching his pockets now, she could heard him patting himself down slightly as she decided to gaze into her lap instead of stare at him again. She noticed he pulled out a piece of paper too and she was surprised. "I-" she stuttered, holding her own piece of paper in her left hand.
"Excuse me, I'm-" the male started to say to her as she looked over at him, and he gave a small smile as he held up his tiny paper. She saw the paper had the name 'Benjamin' scrawled on it, "Well I supposed I'm Benjamin." This made her frown just a little. What if these weren't their names? What if they were holding the names for someone else in this group? This was hard. Why did she have to overthink the situation.. "You wouldn't happen to know anything about the current situation, do you?"
"I'm.. Jilliane. Nice to.. meet.. you?" She replied hesitantly, still wondering if this was in fact her name. It sounded too pretty in her head to be certain it was hers. And 'nice to meet you?' She was attached the him, how would that be nice for him, or her? The brunette held out her paper a little in her free hand for him to see. "And no.. just that I don't think we have a key to these handcuffs..."
