Introduction
Welcome to the Endless Ocean. This remarkable body of water spans to no end with islands and continents scattered about yielding factions within them. This world yields to the whims of magic. Magic is simply anything that is fueled by mana, the energy of change. Nearly everything in this world, including the land and the ocean, is capable of producing mana.
Mana is no simple concept here, as it can be used to cast a spell or power a machine, or even naturally cause changes in environments. So, lets start out with how mana is measured.
The mina is the standard unit that the energy of mana is measured in. This unit can be derived anywhere by taking a pound of rock, dirt, sand, or gravel and hitting it with a burst of mana. 1 mina will result in a blue glow, 2 will be green, 3 orange, and anything beyond will be yellow. To most mages, this will be about a match sized flame.
Now let's go with what types does mana come in. Mana comes in two types, gel and energy. Very rarely does mana gel form naturally, as it is like fat, simply a large storage of energy to the point that it becomes a gelatinous mass. This form is most commonly used as a way for mages to enhance their total mana reserves physically, or more often, by machines. In only the most rare of cases, mana gel will harden around certain types of crystals.
Finally, we get to how mana effects the environment. In higher than normal doses, the weather becomes unpredictable to all degrees. Month long droughts followed by two days of flooding, and then a multitude of natural disasters, which happen quite often in mana drenched areas. In low doses, weather stops fluctuating like it should, and the area becomes either a frozen wasteland or a desert.
Here is where you come in. As a faction of the Endless Ocean, you choose what your faction's homelands are like, what your people look like, how or if they use magic, how they survive, and their economic and political structure. When you play, you can control anyone within your faction at any moment, order entire fleet maneuvers, or deliver the will of a god. Factions can also include more than one race.
The concept of when the higher, and lower, beings can effect the world is a hard to see line. First things first, a god's power is determined by the number and devotion of its followers. Then, the god can only effect the area where holy sites have been made. These sites differ by god. Finally, gods move in subtle ways unless angered. Rage allows a god to rip through the rules, and use its power to the fullest extent.
The creation of a god is easy. When enough people believe in a god, it will be created by an unknown force into the land of gods.
1. My word is law.
2. God modding is allowed for both sides, but limit auto-hitting to a realistic degree. Same thing goes with auto-dodging.
