Description:
Shannara is a very pale, beautiful, and soft-spoken young woman. Gentle and kind, she has always put her focus into helping others, rather than into fighting. Tall and thin, she has more grace and speed than strength, so she is capable of dodging many blows. When she is hit, however, she can be relatively easy to bring down. She has a very warm heart, and she always seems to be taking care of other people, rather than herself. From a very young age, she has been taught that if she supports the people around her, everyone is more likely to survive, and as she is obsessed with keeping others alive, she took that teaching to heart. She wants desperately to become stronger, not because she is worried that she will die, but because she wants to be able to do more to help the people around her. She wants fewer people to die, and for this war to come to an end. Very few people have ever seen her angry, because she is very difficult to make angry. When she is angry, however, it can be frightening, and she is very good at making people feel guilty for the things that they have done.
History: Born in the forests of Gorkon, Shannara is accustomed to living and working outside. She is not a delicate little lady, not pampered as some people would expect from her appearance. Her life was a hard and wild one, and she had to learn her craft of healing at a very early age, so that she could help her family. Her parents, Attan and Zora Seersong, were nomadic, and through most of Shannara’s early life she saw no other beings than her mother, her father, her grandmother Akeel, and her older brother Kamon. She was ten, and remarkably innocent, when her father and her brother finally agreed to bring her with them on a trip to the city. There, she learned the word ‘war’ for the first time, listening to the people on the streets. When Kamon explained to her what ‘war’ was, she thought it horrible, and became determined to stop it. That pleased her parents, who did not believe that her plans would ever come to fruition, or that they would be directly affected by the war.
When Shana was thirteen, however, people came and took her brother away to fight in the war. She was outraged by the soldiers’ attitudes, the way they treated her parents when they protested, and by the fact that they simply stole her brother away. Two nights later, while her distraught parents slept, Shannara snuck away from the camp, with every intention to go to the front, find her older brother, and bring him back where he belonged. She has been wandering ever since.
Shannara quickly discovered that it was impossible to infiltrate the front lines alone, and with nothing to protect her. She began searching for a way to learn another skill, something that would keep her alive on her journey into the wilder parts of Creete, and that would hopefully attract other people to help her. She learned and fell in love with White Magic, and not long afterwards she came upon a party of mercenaries in need of a White Mage. She joined them, hoping that someday they would be swept off to the Front Lines, and she could find her brother again.
