A man with a good heart who just happens to work for the enemy.
Zavier is a SCORPIA Agent, but is not without honor. Because he is more of a soldier than a hunter, Zavier will not hesitate to show quarter to those who surrender or ask for mercy, which is a far cry from what one would expect from an Agent of SCORPIA. Another trait that sets Zavier apart from his colleagues is his tendency to put innocent lives above his mission, he will not hesitate to allow a SeeD to escape if it means protecting an innocent bystander from the crossfires of battle. He fancies himself a white knight, and as such Zavier tries to play the part, even speaking with chivalrous terms that are mostly considered outdated. In battle, Zavier fights with honor, never allowing himself to resort to cheap shots or cowardly tactics, instead desiring to overcome his enemy by his sword alone. This attitude isn't exactly to the likings of his superiors such as Declan Nyx, but they also seem recognize the value of Zavier's skills both as a soldier and public figure, hence they continue to keep him around.
Originally from Esthar, Zavier opposed the establishment of Esthar Garden, never agreeing with the mercenary ways of SeeD. Instead of joining Garden like many other young cadets, Zavier instead went to work for Odine Labs, often being the test pilot for their many projects, including the prototype gunblade he would later call Durandal and the energy buckler. Eventually, Zavier was approached by a man named Luka Kesslar, who offered him an opportunity to aid the abolishing of Esthar Garden. Eager return his country to its former state, Zavier accepted the offer and was inducted into SCORPIA on the belief that he was doing service to his country. While Kesslar had organized the takeover of Esthar, it was in fact Zavier who led the charge against the Garden and forced its headmaster to surrender.
For the next 3 years, Zavier's patriotic belief began to waver. He had only wanted to abolish the Esthar Garden, but SCORPIA revealed that it wanted more. What Zavier wasn't aware of until after the fact, was that other attacks were launched against the other Gardens on the day Esthar Garden was taken over. And after that, Zavier began receiving orders to arrest or even kill SeeDs on sight. This was not the Esthar Zavier wanted to create, but he was only a single man in a world owned by scorpions, so he had no choice but to swallow his principles and remain loyal, or else he would suffer the same punishment Luka Kesslar had been ordered to receive. Zavier continually convinced himself that what he was doing was for Esthar's own good, but lately it has become increasingly difficult to believe that.
