When Allison Ervine was seventeen, her boyfriend of four months, Joshua, impregnated her. They were both only juniors in high school, and did not have the time or money to raise a child. Allison was college-bound, and Joshua was... not. Nor would he stick around to help raise a baby. They made the wise but painful decision to give the baby up for adoption.
A young couple who were unable to have children adopted the baby boy, who Allison has started calling Tommy, a month after he was born. It was very difficult for Allison to give him up, but her parents said there wasn't a choice anymore. The couple, Maya and Paul Ravens, changed his name to Emery.
Paul was diagnosed with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder when Emery was two years old. Paul continuously had thoughts of killing his son and parents, which is classified under the intrusive thoughts type of OCD. Instead of seeking further help for his disorder, he left his family. He never told anyone where he was going or what he was planning to do. Emery doesn't even remember the man. Paul has never contacted Maya or his other relatives.
Emery was an average child. He got okay grades, usually B's. He was an alright athlete, playing baseball until eighth grade, then joining the football team his freshman year. The one thing he always loved was math. He always knew that he wanted to go to college for something mathematics related. After scoring high on his SAT, he applied and was accepted to two schools, Cleveland State University and Fulton University. He originally wanted to attend Cleveland State University, but Maya wanted him to go to Fulton, so he decided it was a good choice for him to go there instead.

Most people's first impression of Emery is bad. He usually comes off as a flirt. He loves girls, it's true. And he doesn't like to settle. But he is actually very courteous and considerate. He doesn't like to make people feel bad. He's a people-pleaser, you could say. Emery's also very ambitious and hard working. He wants everything to be right. He wasn't great in school until his sophomore year in high school. But now he is more intelligent and more willing to try to get good grades.
Emery is very stubborn, though. He wants to do what he wants to do, when he wants to do it. This is why he had a hard time in school until he was 15. He's very firm in his beliefs. But Emery will listen to you kindly without objecting or trying to change your opinions. He's actually very good at giving advice. He is self-confident, too. He knows he's a good student, a good president, and good-looking.

Thoughts on Greek Life: "I never thought I'd be a part of Greek life. It actually sort of scared me when I was a freshman. The idea of rushing was horrifying. I thought no one would like me, and I wouldn't like any of the other rushers. But when I met the guys from Kappa Alpha, it made me realize that they aren't all like the frat boys you see on TV. Kappa is definitely the perfect fraternity for me. Almost every member has been highly intelligent, and they have all been good, determined people. I also never expected to become president. I love having all these younger guys around all the time. It's nice to be looked up to.
Plans for after college: "I've actually got a job set up for myself. My grandfather knows a guy who owns a computer repair business, and I'll be accounting there for a while until I can find a... better job. I want to make money. I want to give back to my mom for everything she's helped me do. Hopefully I'll find a career as a financial analyst somewhere."
