a character in “GeNeSis: Resurrection of the Legend.”, as played by fate0013

Description

Image

"What good is strength and power if not used with purpose?"

Name: Derek Thatch
Age: 19.

Genesis: Earth
The embodiment of land, dirt, stone, soil, sand, minerals, and rock.
Known by the title "the mountain king".

Height: 6.11 ft almost 7ft
The guys huge with a capital H. Towering over most normal men and his fellow Genesis.
Tends to forget how big he is and how small most people are to him.
Weight: 210.lbs
Derek is HEAVY. most likely due to all of the huge amounts of muscle he has on his body.
Surprisingly he is still able to move about with exceptional speed and agility.

Personality: Derek is a laid-back yet dedicated person. calm and steadfast, all the while jolly, fun loving, warm-hearted and kind. Well respected by his fellows, they see him as a fiercely loyal and protective friend. Putting their lives before his. Derek thinks things through in a rather straightforward matter that usually involves taking things β€œhead on”. Even when faced with obvious hostility. Derek is famous for his "volcanic" temper that tends to even put the fire Genesis's wrath to shame. Due to this volatile anger, Derek's fights will occasionally end with widespread destruction. He is able to rain in his anger quite well except when he or his friends are either in danger, insulted or something violates his moral beliefs. Derek's continuous desire to train, spare and fight causes him to develop great wit in battle, quickly identifying his opponent’s weakness and forms strategies to block his enemies plans. He is also stubborn as he hardly ever admits defeat. A powerful combatant, Derek displays both a strong will and an absence of fear in less-than-positive situations and will fight his adversaries relentlessly until he is victorious. a good-hearted warrior with a strong moral code and gets angered when he sees an act that goes against his morals. values the lives of the innocent and doesn't believe in sacrificing the innocent for ANY reason, good or evil. Strongly hates those who value themselves over others, and believes it's the duty of the strong to protect the weak.

Armour:
The only visible armor on Derek is his gilded steel gauntlets and graves. But in actuality he's covered in a layer of granite that is commonly mistaken for his skin. The stone layer is sectioned to cover each muscle separately, rough dirt and sand fill in between and around the stone plating like similar to the functions of chain mail. A secondary layer of soft soil lays underneath and is what is in contact with his skin, this acts as a cushion so the "armor" doesn't harm it wearer in any way. It's held together perfectly with Derek's powerful earth magic, he is able to shed and reform the armor at any given time taking only less then a minute. Without a proper name, the "armor" is commonly referred to stone skin.

weapon:
Derek's number one weapon is his body. Trained in self taught martial arts, he strikes using punches and kicks along with elbows and knees. Derek did pick up other fighting styles in his years before discovering himself being the genesis of earth. He tends to create weapons out of stone, rock, sand and dirt. Mostly forming ads and hammers.

Likes:
- strength
- simple pleasures. But still will enjoy luxury.
- dirt and earth. Likes feeling connected with nature, which take into why he wears no shoes among other things.
- training, sparing, and fighting. (Not without reason.)
- food. He can eat a ton and is never picky.
- the great outdoors
- animals
- order
- fun
- His friends

Dislikes:
- closed spaces
- senseless fighting. (Unless it's just playing around)
- the ocean and any other large bodies of water
- getting to much attention
- people who exploit others.
- negative people
- discord and chaos
- arrogant people

History/Bio: Claims to have grown up alone in the mountains. Other then that he says very little of his past and gets a sad and depressed look when people try and bring it up.

Other: when angered, Derek's eyes go white as his hair. When fighting. He will sometimes make extra arms out of earth when more power is needed or when fighting multiple opponents. Derek is the strongest of the all the Genesis when it comes to strength and brute force, being able to throw boulders with little to no effort at all.

Derek had been traveling for weeks from the mountain highlands. He had walked most of the way or hitched a ride with any other willing travelers. The problem was his massive farm tended to be unnerving to most people. He was walking through the forest, enjoying my the tranquility of nature. When he finally found the road, Derek saw The town of Estopolis not to far ahead. "So there it is, just like grandpa said." He smiled and began to whistle a tune as he walked on towards the town. The closer he got the more eyes began to look his way, Derek was the tallest person here, and probably the most muscular by far. His appearance was a little unusual for a human. White hair, takes skin, red tribal tattoos, even his baggy clothing. Most people from the mountain highlands never venture out from their cliff side homes, which made Derek one of the minority.

As he walked down a busy street, people greeted him with kindness as well as caution. Children squealed with delight and ran around him, some giggling others staring wide eyed. "Are you a giant?" A little eleven girl asked, face looking up at the mountain of a man. In his culture he was still a boy though. Derek looked down at her and smiled warmly, he knelt and looked at her face. "Don't know, maybe my great grandfather was. Would be interesting though." He winked and pulled out some fruit from his huge pack and gave it out to the children. They smiled, thanked him and ran off. Derek got up and brushed himself off, picked up his bag and continued down the busiest street. As he continued to wander about carefree, oblivious to everything around him, he heard a commotion up ahead. "Get out of the way!! The bulls loose!!" Sure enough, a huge black bull came barreling down the street. People ran to the sides, parting to make a path for the charging animal. Derek blinked ahead at the stampeding animal and dropped his bag. He moved one of his feet back and lowered his stance with his hands in front palms out. Right when the bull was close to gore him, Derek grabbed the horns. He didn't move so much as an inch as he flung the startled creature to the side with little to no effort, subduing it. He clapped his hands together and Picked his bag back up. Then went back to wandering down the street. Onlookers jaws dropped at both the sight and how casual the boy seemed about the entire ordeal. Derek smiled and began whistling once again. Today's going to be a good day.

Derek was getting bored. He had been trying to find the other Genesis ever since he left home. When his grandpa and him discovered he was the Genesis of Earth it was decided that Derek would have to leave home and find the others. He would be needed to combat the coming darkness. He found an open space that happened to be close to a group of four individuals that looked way to so it of place around each other. "God's grandpa why is this a lot harder then it should be?" He dropped his bag which slammed down with great force creating a small creator. An obvious sign of how strong the Earth Genesis was. Derek stomped the ground in frustration, creating an even bigger creator. "Damit!" He raised a big rock out of the ground and headbutted it, shattering the rock instantly. He then took in a deep breath and calmed down, grumbling to himself. "Why couldn't these people just find me instead? It's not like I'm going to just walk into them randomly." He sighs and slumps down with a loud thud. Derek pulls out an Apple that looked very small in his large hands and began to munch on it, he seemed oblivious to the fact that the group near by had heard every word and had watched the little insistent play out.

Derek sees two more people join the odd group as he eats. well that's an interesting bunch. . . .wait, hold on. he blinks and takes a good look at them. Each had something unique about them. . . . Something he couldn't place. Then he saw some of them use their powers. you have got to be kidding me. . . . Six. . . . I find six right of the bat. Derek chuckles himself and gets up. He slings his pack onto his shoulder and strides over to them. Again, he's the biggest and tallest person there. Everyone seemed to give off a different feel to him. One was dark and seemed vampiric in nature. Another seemed to carry a breeze wherever he went, the girl next to him reminded him of a thunderstorm. He couldn't place the one in the bird mask but chose to ask later. Next was a boy that had the feel and heat of the forge about him. Lastly was a girl in armor who smelled like spring rain. Derek grinned with delight.I found them, grandpa I actually found them. Derek drew himself to his full height, which was close to seven feet, and stressed the group. "Excuse me ladies and gentlemen. . ." He crossed his arms and showed of his stone skin armor. ". . .would any of you happen to be a Genesis?" He was obviously being funny but still carried a solid and forms or about him, giving a playful and warm smile at the six individuals before him.

Circe Hammond

"I guess just the six of us have found each other..." Circe said. "There must be others."

Circe paid attention to Sky introducing the group and noticed a large man looking at them. The new man walked over to the group of six and asked if any of them happened to be a Genesis.

Circe laughed and said: "Well this is turning out splendidly!" she smiled. "I am Circe, the lightning Genesis and this is Jack of fire, Sky of wind, Isaac of light, I presume, Angela of water, and..." Circe realized that she did not know the tall dark man's name. She turned to him expectantly.

Jak sat out the introductions, although they were his ally's he was lost in his on train of thoughts. The genesis resonated deep feeling within him and Angela gave off an aura that he naturally disliked, when Circe mentioned that the knight was a genesis of water. Jak quickly understood why he didn't like her aura fire and water naturally didn't mix, although he would try to get over the effects of being complete opposites. "Yea I guess we did find each other, it was pretty quick thanks to Circe randomly shooting lightning and drawing us like moths to the flame," Jak commented turning to the huge man that made his presence known very quickly. He asked if they were any of the genesis, and casting his look over the man Jak responded "Yes yes we are, and I suppose you are also one of the genesis." He said with a slight smile

Jak backed away slightly he didn't like large crowds but he spoke again trying to gather the attention of everyone "Hey I know standing here and making a huge commotion about finding each other is cool and all but I know a place we could talk that isn't so open to spy's. My dad has a blacksmithing place not to far from here." Jak smiled and motioned his hands over in the direction they should walk in.

Blake had kept himself quiet as everyone else round him spoke. He was using this to take in all the information he could as it seemed introductions were flying around everywhere. Circe of Lightning, Jak of Fire, Sky of Wind, Angela of Water. He could only assume that the rather large male who had approached them belonged to the earth, that or his eyes deceived him. Of course then one Blake only had to glance at and he knew. Issac of Light. Opposite Genesis had this effect upon each other that varied between the Genesis but with two such primal Elements of Dark and Light. The effect was quite prominent.

Glancing across and catching Circe's expecting gaze he spoke swiftly and shortly. " Blake" he said not adding what Genesis he was as he assumed by now that much should of been worked out. Granted with some of the others it was more difficult to spot, but with one such as himself it should be easy. Though he soon turned his gaze upon the Fire Genesis, his suggestion of heading back to a forge to speak. " Now while i wont deny that at some point preparations will be needed... i find your suggestion of spies within the same sentence of also mentioning someone close enough to name as your dad Puzzling"

Isaac kept looking at Blake. The effect of both Light and Dark genesis being so close was fascinating, as if life and death were face to face. He wondered how light and dark magic would interact with each other, the possibilities were almost endless. He would have to ask him later for a demonstration of his powers for a small experimentation.

He stared at space while he managed his train of thoughts, while the others kept talking. He saw, on the corner of his eye, a child fell and starting crying due to a cut on the knee, his friends getting closer to see the cut. Isaac looked at the child, and concentrated a little. The sides of the cut became a bright white and started to heal itself. The children got away scared, while the child looked at it open mouthed. When the cut finished healing, the child looked at it relieved, and then continue to play with his other friends. Isaac smiled under his mask. His powers allowed him to extend the field of his job further than his normal patients.

"Hey I know standing here and making a huge commotion about finding each other is cool and all but I know a place we could talk that isn't so open to spy's. My dad has a blacksmithing place not to far from here." Said Jak, and Isaac looked at him. "While I agree that you little demonstration of powers did give away our position, I find it quite improbable the chance of being spied right now." Isaac responded. Although he could be wrong, he found it highly improbable that someone already knew their location previous to their encounter. "Yet, it would be a good idea to talk in a place that allows more privacy."

Angela stood confused, but still pleased that almost all the Genesis were together. But where could the others be..? Maybe they hadn't seen the lightning bolt as she did, and were still wondering around the city... That wasn't good. Angela was about to propose that that should start looking for the other Genesis as soon as possible. But before Angela could speak, a rather muscular and tall man walked up. "Excuse me ladies and Gentlemen..." He started. Angela turned to see the voice, but immediately flinched back at his sudden appearance. She was defiantly surprised to see such an abnormally large figure. But as he went on to ask if they were any of the Genesis, she relaxed. Unlike Blake, this new figure seemed a bit more cheerful.

"Well this is turning out rather splendidly!" Said Circe, smiling from ear to ear. Circe took the first opportunity to introduce the newcomer to the group. Though when she came to Blake, she stopped because she had yet to know his name. When he announced it, Everyone took knowledge then continued to speak. Everyone must have suspected the newcomer to be a Genesis, because it was a little difficult to believe he wasn't. He was too huge to not be. Angela began to wonder if he was the Genesis of Earth. Earth was a strong element, and needed a strong source. And he it the bill perfectly. Well they found one more, or... technically he found them. Now that there is six down... how many were left to find? Dark and... a few others, but the names wouldn't come to her mind. Oh well, they were bound to show up soon.

Angela hadn't noticed it before, but a small feeling of discomfort began to grown somewhere inside of herself. She knew it wasn't something that she was feeling directly from Blake. He made her feel as if he'd suddenly flip his hand and kill everyone. her feelings toward him were somewhere between totally trusting him, and wanting to get away from him as soon as possible. No, this feeling she flt now made her feel like she was melting away. But was it really that hot outside? She took her gauntlet off and rubbed the sweat off her forehead. Strange.. it wasn't hot outside at all. In fact, it was quite cool. Angela sighed and slid her gauntlet back on, telling herself it might just be the Armor.

"Hey I know standing here and making a huge commotion about finding each other is cool and all, but I know a place we could talk that isn't so open to spy's. My dad has a blacksmiths place not too far from here" Said Jak. Though Angela's armor and sword were crafted by blacksmiths, she disliked the environment they worked in. It was way too hot, and you could sizzle your skin on anything you touch. Every time she walked in to ask of some repairs, it gave her a feeling that made her want to... melt? Hold on. That could have been it! The reason she was suddenly feeling hot could be because of Jak... he was of the Fire Genesis. They were 'natural enemies' Angela slightly frowned towards him, taking her gauntlet off once again to rub her forehead.

Oh god, now everyone seemed to like the idea of Jak's and wanted to go along with it. Angela huffed but kept quite about it. She didn't believe spies to be that much of a problem, after all they are usually weak and can go down quite easily. But again, they are fast, unlike Angela. Maybe going to the Blacksmiths was a good idea, unless someone had another place in town that wasn't so hot. Angela stood silently with a tired and bored expression, but she was still at half attention. She needed to make sure Blake wasn't going to murder everyone she just met. After all, guarding was one of her main jobs as a knight.

Blake listened to everyone agree that they needed a place to speak but he still shook his head. " I cannot disagree with the fact that a more secluded place is needed..... i believe you all fail to see to sheer foolishness of heading to that Forge" he said having no problem with possible just insulting half the group. " If by the smallest of chances there were spies observing us.... it would not be the correct move to all go and congregate in a place, possible with a person that could end up as a target due to its links with a Genesis" he said staring, no more over a glare straight at Jak.

Turning his attention towards the Earth Genesis he arched a brow. " An amusing idea.... but via the time i have been in this city. I have come into the possession of an estate that could facilitate our requirements for the time being. Lest of course anyone has any objections to using such a property for this need" he said glancing across to read everyone's expression.

Jak stood awaiting the responses from each of the genesis while some seemed to agree with his idea Blake openly objected to his statement. " I cannot disagree with the fact that a more secluded place is needed..... i believe you all fail to see to sheer foolishness of heading to that Forge" he said having no problem with possible just insulting half the group. " If by the smallest of chances there were spies observing us.... it would not be the correct move to all go and congregate in a place, possible with a person that could end up as a target due to its links with a Genesis" Blake glaring at Jak directly. Jak's face lit up in annoyance with what Blake said although he was right, drawing the group of genesis back to his adoptive father wasn't the wisest choice. Later on the enemy could use that against them if anything.

Dropping his glare and cooling off Jak spoke " You hold a good point, I will not disagree that it could be a setback for us later on. I'll take your estate over the forge just lead the way," he forced a slight smile and ran his hands through his hair again being put off by Angela's aura. It reminded him of the sea, not the greatest place to be when you are one with fire. Water had some very adverse effects on Jak, ones he didn't feel like dealing with but if they were to be ally's he would have to put up with it. He assumed Isaac wasn't having a great time with Blake around either.

Circe Hammond

It was strange, Circe thought, all of these opposite forces were joining together and acting professionally. Water and fire, light and what she assumed was dark. Circe wondered if she had an opposite.

She then remembered her brother... her twin. He was her opposite, her better half, she liked to call him. She felt tears in her eyes and looked at the ground, clenching her fists, and hoping no one would notice her sudden sadness. She slipped her hand into the secret pocket in her dress and curled her hand around one of her knives. Immediately, she felt a burst of electricity run up her arm and she calmed down.

"I think that the estate is a good idea as well," she said to the group.

Isaac could feel the tension that was built. All these opposite genesis together, could mean chaos if they weren't careful. He noted how Angela was sweating fiercely and seemed nervous, while Jak looked rather annoyed. He himself didn't mind the presence of Blake, but he had no idea what Blake thought. Sky and Derek seemed ok about it too, although he wasn't paying much attention to them. However, Circe was on the verge of crying, although his opposite wasn't present. Isaac made a mental note to check on Circe's mental stability on the future, he didn't want her having a mental breakdown at the worst possible moment.
"An amusing idea.... but via the time i have been in this city. I have come into the possession of an estate that could facilitate our requirements for the time being. Lest of course anyone has any objections to using such a property for this need" Blake suggested. Isaac himself didn't much care to were they went. So he didn't say anything, and let the rest of the group decide. "You hold a good point, I will not disagree that it could be a setback for us later on. I'll take your estate over the forge just lead the way" Jak said, still nervous, Isaac observed. "I think that the estate is a good idea as well" Said Circe, finally calmed. With a few of them already agreeing to their next location, it wouldn't take much for the rest of the group to be convinced. Isaac waited calmly for the rest of the group to give their opinions.

Sky looked at Derek whom to him, was colossal and he felt the earthy power from the man, 'hmm... I seem to found my opposite' he said as he looked over at Jak, "your father's a blacksmith? he asked adjusting his Gauntlets and Claymore, "that could help" he said as he felt a strange sense of Darkness, 'what is this power...?' he thought as soon a breeze came by again, "Would you think, Jak, that your father could make the gauntlets I have less loose...?" he asked with a simplistic voice.

" An amusing idea.... but via the time i have been in this city. I have come into the possession of an estate that could facilitate our requirements for the time being. Lest of course anyone has any objections to using such a property for this need" Although Angela was relieved to hear that someone else had offered a place to stay, she was very cautious when it was Blake that had offered. Was he trying to lead the Genesis into a trap? Of course he was. With most of them wiped out, taking out the few that have not been found would be easy. But...No. It didn't feel like that anymore. Angela was beginning to actually trust Blake. He really wasn't showing any other signs of being their enemy anymore, and was offering to help. The services he asked her about earlier, he might have meant just this. Offering places to stay and other services... Perhaps Blake might have be helpful on their journey. Perhaps he was a nice guy. Perhaps he wasn't evil, but perhaps he still was. But no matter what now, everyone seemed okay with staying at his Estate. Almost everybody, anyway. But still, Angela would keep a close eye on Derek. The fate of Estopolis and the rest of the world rested in their hands, and they needed every Genesis to be alive for the great battle.

"An estate huh? Guess it should work."Said Derek, who agreed to come."I think that the estate is a good idea as well" Circe spoke up, agreeing as well. A;most everyone was alright with Blake's idea. Angela gazed up to Blake, and nodded "I've agreed to come too. The estate is a wonderful idea ,Blake. Thank you" Angela smiled gently, and looked to the others. "Is everyone else ready to go?"

Derek smiles warmly and walks to the front of the group. "Well, what are we waiting for? We need to get down to business, also I think we need to get to know one another as well. Since we're going to be together for quite some time." Jak turned to him nodding in agreement "We are going to have to if we want to come out of this alive, I suggest getting some quality time with your opposite." Jak said shooting a glare at Angela.

"Would you think, Jak, that your father could make the gauntlets I have less loose...?" he asked with a simplistic voice. Jak's brow slightly rose as Sky asked, a bright grin flashed upon his face as he looked to him"You're looking at the second best blacksmith in this city, the quick fix on your gauntlets would take less then ten minutes. When I make my way back to the forge to pick up my blade I'll have him tighten them up for you, free of charge of course." He said still grinning, the talk of the forge took his mind off of the human sized ocean standing across from him. Reaching for Sky's gauntlet looking over the piece of armor contemplating what kind of changes he could make to it improving his fighting power, then looking over his claymore glaring at it quickly coming to the conclusion that it would only need a wind enchantment.

"If you wanted to increase the usefulness of the claymore, since it is a huge weapon I could do a simple wind enchantment at my forge and make it one with the wind. I can also enchant weapons and armor, I've gotten pretty good at it the only enchantments I cannot do are water and ice enchantments." He told the group giving them a heads up on his other useful skills besides just being the fire genesis. Jak wanted to be as useful as possible to the rest of the genesis contributing what he could to further the progress of there quest.

Hearing the almost unanimous agreement to his idea Blake nodded " Follow " he said sharply. Truth was he was being disturbed being a part of this crowd, more so being so close to Issac. Now while the effect was stronger between the two primal elements it was different from everyone else. They two elements did not clash like the others due to the broad harmony between the two of one cannot exist without the other, if there was no dark there would be no light and so forth. But rather it pulled upon a more honest nature of the two. Which was probably fine for Issac as the light was a kinder element. But for Blake it attacked the barriers in his mind like any of his dark magic would. Bringing him closer to Insanity.

These thoughts occupied his mind as he lead the way through the streets of the city towards the richer side of town. Where the buildings spread more apart and the land Incorporated with each structure grew. Soon the estate loomed into view. A rather aged Gothic structure consisted of 3 floors, the third seeming to be encompassed into the roof. " I do hope you all took note of the route that led here.... for i shall not be the one to come fetch those who get lost" he said making sure his point was clear as he pushed open the wrought iron gate that was the entrance on to the grounds.

Sky nodded, "that'll help, but both of my weapons are Minium alloy, its tough to mend" he said sighing a little, "but I'm sure you can do it" he said as he pulled his gauntlet, which is still attached to his arm mind you, back to his side, "so, Derek, you seem like someone like me and use physicality's benefits and fight with your body, am I wrong?" he said smiling, and then adjusting his gauntlets again.

As it was decided by almost everyone, they headed to the estate, following Blake. While walking, Isaac's mind was concentrated on the reactions of the opposite genesis. He could feel the tension between the opposite genesis, the power of the forces of nature colliding must have had an effect on the genesis. There will most likely be a lot of commotion and arguments between each opposite genesis. They will have to learn to stand the power of each other. Yet, his power and Blake's were different. He could feel the forces restraining, yet he felt them getting close together. He could feel the darkness fighting to gain control, yet light kept it at bay. It was, fascinating! The fact that something so primal, something so old as time, had a physical form was a marvel of science. Isaac worked on his mind thousands of theories and possibilities, each one as absurd as the last one, yet still plausible. He needed to conduct experiments! He would ask Blake for his cooperation inside the estate.
"I do hope you all took note of the route that led here.... for i shall not be the one to come fetch those who get lost" Blake said. Yet Isaac didn't give it any second thought. He wasn't going anywhere anytime soon.

"I've haven't came across any form of metal I couldn't bend or fix, trust me. Me or my father should be able to tackle the task with ease," Jak said with a smile turning away and keeping pace with Blake as he made his way towards the estate. He wondered how the water genesis Angela would react to him in conversation, currently her aura kept Jak at bay. It was overwhelming to him as it fought to suppress his own aura the classic fight between water and fire, a tug of war with no clear victor. He at least wanted to try and speak to her to clear the "waters", and get used to being around her hopefully it would go in his favor. Jak's train of thought snapped as Blake lead them through the richer side of the city, painful memories from his childhood played flashing from his days as a small thief stealing food to survive. Letting out a small chuckle as he thought about how far he came, Jak continued through the richer district as more fresher memories played of him and Aris delivering goods and talking to the wealthy folk. He knew the area like the broad side of his blade, and getting lost wasn't a thing that would happen.

Smiling at Blake's comment " Nice place you got here, very classy and elegant. I won't be losing sight of this" Jak said commenting and following behind the genesis of darkness as he opened the gates. Peering over his shoulder to see if Angela would come into view, he wanted to set all differences behind them in terms of element.
