|History|

"Well.. let's start with my childhood then."

"I grew up with my father and mother, what a lucky bastard he was. He always hurt my mother, even when she pleased him right in front of me, as a child. I'd always her screaming as he raped her that night, or as he almost killed her. I walked in on them one time, and finally took a stand for my dying mother, seeing as she couldn't take much more of that treatment. I grabbed the gun I knew my father kept in his office, where he took his sluts every Tuesday and Thursday night, and pointed it at him. "Leave her alone, or I'll shoot." I demanded, in my sheriff's costume, I'd worn just the night before for Halloween. My father simply laughed in my face, and murmured, "I dare ya, boy." . I sure showed him, huh? He was shot dead by a officer who happened to be standing behind me. The neighbors called the station for the fifth time that week, and they'd finally decided to send someone out. So, you could say my trust issues started there. "

"I wasn't always an only child. I had a little brother for awhile, but then he left suddenly, and I never knew why. He took my mother's eyes, and my father's looks as I was the opposite, with my father's eyes, and my mother's looks. His name was Daniel Mark Ridges. I was about 10 when I was introduced to him. My mother was still alive, and she'd been in the hospital. I remember still thinking how amazing it was that she was so fat for so long, and then in one day she shrunk back down to her teeny waist... Anyway, they'd kept Daniel in the hospital for a few months, then finally let him home. Well, about two years after Daniel was born, my mother was taken from me, and we were sent to live with my Father's mother, who was the total opposite of her trashy, alcoholic son. Then, one day, when I was 14, Daniel was taken to the hospital suddenly, he had stopped breathing that night in his sleep. I remember my Grandmother crying as we went home, and I didn't understand why. It didn't really hit me that I would never see my kid brother again, until several days time passed. I still remember the rainy November morning, when we left early, to go bury him. I felt alone after that. So... so.. alone.."

When I was 18, I found alcohol, and cigarettes among other teens, and drank heavily. I didn't see a reason to live, honestly. My father had abused my mother for as long as I could remember, and she died a few years after he did. At least they're not together now, in the afterlife... *Sighs* But, my addiction with alcohol started there. I had a few cigarettes, but, not enough for enjoyment, or pleasure as the alcohol brought me. I still drink now, but I go to rehab. Not that any of my 'friends' know."

"You could say I came to NY for a fresh start. I just see it as moving. "

Vannie was starting her new life. Away from her sex-hungry ex-boyfriend, and all his sluts, away from depression, away from everything. It felt like the new start she'd been craving for ages.

Vannie was wearing some tight, skin tight to be exact, black skinny jeans, with white writing all over them, as if she'd been graffitied. On her top, she wore a black, kinda see-through shirt, with a bright blue blazer over it. Her hair down in curls, and her lips a bright pastel pink. Her heels were the same blue as her blazer, and her bracelets, all on her left wrist, were different pastels. She had on multiple rings that complimented the outfit on each hand as well as pastel pink nail polish on her nails. A necklace around her neck bore white feathers, that contrasted with all the colors nicely.

She looked at the piece of paper upon which she had doodle her new home address on. It read, in faintly readable handwriting:

"Glenwood Apartments, New York. Apartment 208B."

"Hmm.." She thought for a minute, looking at the note, also holding a small box in her hands, which contained some make-up things, like a hairbrush, mirrors, lipsticks, earrings, rings, and some eyeshadows of all colors. Vannie pressed the 'up' button for the elevator and went to the 6th floor quite slowly. She looked up and down the hallway, reading a sign that read, "188-205 left, 206-221 right". She turned right, and just a few meters down was her new home.

She put the key in the lock confidently, and turned it, opening it to go home.

Maxwell looked down at a small business card he held in his hand. Max wore a plain, plaid shirt with yellows and greens in the pattern. He had on a grey fedora, and some blue jeans, with a pair of old converse on his feet. He dressed pretty simple. He was sitting of the parking lot of his new home. Glenwood Apartments. On the back of the card was scribbled:

"Apartment 126B."

"Let's do this." He sighed heavily, and grabbed his luggage from the back of his car. It was all he had. He went up to the front doors, and caught the elevator with a young woman who had a box of makeup things in her hands. "Figures." He thought with a smirk, and got off the floor before her, he guessed, hearing her heels on the floor above him. He searched up and down the hallways, and found his apartment.

He put in the key, and walked in.

This was the apartment she signed the lease for. Maddie had moved from Iowa. This was a large change of pace for her. Going from farmland to a busy city was exciting, yet scary at the same time. Her siblings didn't need her anymore, so now she was just living for herself. This was her fresh start. She had gotten to New York only a few hours ago. The plane ride was around 4 hours, and what little things she brought were in the four suitcases she carried behind her into the complex. She allowed her sister to have all of the furniture, arguing to was to expensive to U-Haul it all out a New York apartment. With some money set aside for the furniture she would need to get - today - she was pretty much set for her new life. Tripping and having to reclaim all the bags and suitcases she carried on her way to her new home she saw a few people go through the elevator before her. She took the next one up to the second floor and struggled to get all her things to her door.
"101A, 101A - aha!" she mumbled quietly to herself while searching for her door, and pulling the copper key from her back jean pocket. While fumbling with opening the door her things fell to the floor once more.
"Fucking hell" she sighed under her breath. The first day and she was already dropping things. Gathering her things back up she brought her suitcases in one by one into the empty apartment. She wouldn't have furniture for awhile, because even if she bought it today - it would take time to get here. Adjusting her striped top she cracked her knuckles against her thigh. This was all just one giant mess. She already had a job interview in a few days at a local bar at least. That was something to always look forward to - right? She sat down on the plush dark carpet and began opening her suitcases to help jog her memory to what she had brought. Clothes, makeup, shower things, personal mementos, some old photos, some hangers - nothing particularly interesting. Sitting on the floor she began making herself a personal battle plan on how she was going to start her life. With a growling stomach she went to the fridge and stopped in her tracks. Food...add that to her list. With a disappointed face she walked back over to her various suitcases. She would get all her clothes on hangers, then go out onto the town. That was what she began doing - pulling the black hangers from one suitcase, and placing shirts and things onto them to later hang in her closet. To past the time she began singing to herself the song "What A Catch Donnie".

The first thing he did when he woke up was check his email. Tonight he had a gig at the local bar, and tomorrow he had another at this Thai restaurant. He groaned aloud, but it reality was actually very relieved. These gigs got him money, and notoriety in the city. One day he hoped that someone would notice his talent, and sign him for a record deal. A freelance musician wasn't a very stable career, but it was a career he enjoyed. He went out onto his balcony to take a quick smoke break. A pack lasted him about a week in a half. The smokes were mostly to calm him down, and though he would never admit it in his wildest dreams - he's found the ladies think it makes a guy look like a bad boy, which is why he continues to do it. He heard some crashing in the hallway and raised a questionable brow towards the door. He hadn't moved in long ago himself. It had only been a week - though he has been living in New York much longer, just never the city itself. Dressing himself in plaid and blue jeans he decided her would go out for lunch today. See what the city had to offer, and possibly find some good dine ins in the process. In New York, it was true almost no one had a car - he wasn't an exception. People walk and bike everywhere. There are no parking lots really, and traffic was always terrible. He had no desire for a car because of that reason - besides, it was cheaper this way. Taking his key from the little hook from beside the door he walked out to begin his walk about town.

Vannie looked around her new apartment. This was her new home, she still couldn't believe it. She was free, and... single. Van had a deep feeling inside of her that, she'd actually might find someone here. But, shrugging it off, she went to thinking about what she needed. Looking around, she had already put all her clothes away where they needed to go, and she had furniture, thank goodness. Her friend had moved to NY not too long ago, and switched to a bigger apartment, giving Van this one. She owed her that was for sure. Seeing as she was pretty much set, she went out of her home, locking the door behind her.

Vannie wanted to see the town now, and maybe even hit up a bar or two.

After walking for about an hour on the sidewalk in heels, her feet started to ache, then she spotted a little bar across the street, with huge neon sign, reading "OPEN" right under a cardboard sign reading, "Mike's Bar". "Seems friendly enough.." Vannie shrugged, muttering to herself as she walked in. The lights were bright, and people were on the dancefloor seeming to be having a good time. She sat at the bar, and ordered a tequila, sighing, wishing she had someone there with her.

Then, as if on que, a man appeared, and held out his hand to her, nodding to the bartender. "I'm Kyle. What's the name to this pretty face?"

Van blushed, and looked down, stirring her toothpick with an olive on the end of it nervously in her drink. "I'm Vanessa. But you can call me Vannie." She then giggled, as he held up her hand, kissing it.

"Alright then, Vannie, shall I escort you on the dance floor?" Vannie nodded, and followed him into the crowd.

Max walked in to his bare, empty apartment. "I need furniture." He sighed, and looked around for a minute. Thinking, he scratched his head curiously, taking in the scene. His apartment had two bedrooms, one and a half bath, a kitchen, dining, and living room, as well as a small hallway that you walked into. He guessed all the apartments looked the same.

Max set all his luggage and things in what he thought was a bedroom, and left, locking the door behind him. Sticking the brass key in his pocket, with his phone, and wallet in the other, he went to the first floor, then hopped in his car, and joined the crazy traffic, going to the nearest Rooms-To-Go store.

When he got there, there was so much furniture... everywhere. He had no idea where to start, and wished he had someone who knew what to do. That was when an employee came up to him, and introduced herself. "Hey, I'm Marissa, and I can help you choose some furniture, or even fabric."

"Thanks, love. I have no idea what I'm doing." He smiled, she gave him a small smile in return.

They spent, what felt like, the whole day together, planning out the designs for each room in his apartment, and then ordering everything.

After singing the entire song, and then 3 more - she finished placing all her clothes on hangers, or folding them. She would need to put the clothes in her bedroom, but that was a task for later tonight. So far the favorite part about her apartment was the cute balcony. A few others were nearby, and going out she saw a man smoking and check his phone for something. One of her neighbors of course. She attempted to wave, but he didn't see her before he walked back into his own apartment. Shrugging it off she went back in as well, closing the glass door the the small balcony as well. She envisioned her apartment when it would finally be decorated. Cute potted plants on the balcony, modern furniture and abstract paintings throughout her apartment. Those were things she was looking forward to. With the idea in mind she took the key of her apartment off the floor and locked the door behind her as she walked down the long hallway, taking the stairs of the complex to the main lobby. The old man behind the counter waved warmly at her, and she approached him.
"You must be the lovely new tenant in 208B" the old man said with a smile. She raised a brow, but looked kindly at him.
"No, you must be mistaking me for some other woman. I just moved into 101A" Madeline replied.
"My apologies miss, this old brain can't keep faces separate. What's your name dear?" he asked. Madeline already knew that she would like this old man. He seemed kind. Sort of grandfather like, but kind nonetheless.
"Roxie"
"Well welcome to Glenwood then! If you need anything you can report it to me" the man continued smiling. Madeline nodded.
"There is one thing I need, do you know where I can buy furniture in this city? I literally got off my flight about 5 hours ago - and I'm in an empty apartment" she explained, laughing slightly at how silly it all sounded.
"Well my wife does all the interior decorating of my apartment, see if it were up to me we would have a bed, couch, and dining table. I believe she shops at Rooms-To-Go, I can write the address down for you if you'd like" the man replied, she nodded at his offer and took the paper from him once he wrote it.
"Thank you so much!" she said with a grin before waving and walking out the revolving glass doors to the sidewalks of the Big Apple.

It didn't take her terribly long to find the place. The hardest part was crossing the busy streets. The traffic was crazy. All one could hear was cars honking and people yelling at one another. Finally she reached her destination and upon entering the front doors she was greeted by another old person, this time a woman with grey hair and red glasses. For her age it seemed she at least attempted to look stylish.
"How're you doing today ma'm, do you need any help?" the woman asked.
"I do, I just moved here and I find myself without any furniture. Which can be problematic as you may know. I have a few ideas, but nothing is set in stone" Madeline said once again. She wondered how many times she would need to introduce herself and her situation in this town.
"Well I'm here to help, let me show you what we have" the woman said as they walked through the store. Madeline saw a dark haired man from the corner of her eye, but shook her head while looking through the furniture. After what felt like forever, she was done ordering everything she needed for her new home. In all honesty she was happy with her purchases. Now she needed to stop at grocery store and Bed Bath and Beyond.

Up front she finalized her order and learned it would be 3 days until the movers came and brought her furniture to her. She nodded before paying with her card and leaving the store to take a breath of air outside. With her phone in her hands she began looking up where the closest Bed Bath and Beyond would be so she could go get essentials such as silverware, towels, bedspreads, and other things for her home.

Initially Tyler had no luck in finding a place to eat. Around the area they were in, it was mostly business offices. It was a few blocks until he found the first promising place, "Mike's Bar" and decided to try it for himself. This wasn't the bar he would be playing at tonight - but it looked to have decent food. Food was the only thing really on his mind. It was too early to drink anyway. Walking in the place the familiar scent of boos and must caught his nose. It wasn't anything impressive, but it would do. He took a seat onto a leather bar stool and looked through the tiny menu that laid on the counter. Not but a few seats away from him sat an attractive woman, looking almost lonely until a different man came and dragged her away. He watched as they went to the dance floor, then averted his eyes to the bartender.
"I'll get a plate of boneless honey barbecue chicken, and a diet coke please" Tyler order. The bartender nodded before bringing the white slip of paper he wrote the order on into the small kitchen in the back.
"You're a new face around here" the man said when he came back, taking a beer glass in hand and whipping it with a clean rag.
"Moved around here about a week ago, so yeah, I'm pretty new" Tyler replied with a grin, thanking the man for the diet coke when it was given.
"Yeah, so whatcha do? You aren't a doctor, too hard headed looking to do that" the bartender joked, making Tyler laugh slightly.
"I play guitar man. I do gigs at bars and stuff hoping to get noticed. I guess you get a lot of people like me around these parts" Tyler said before taking a sip.
"You have no idea son. We have people always performing. The bar has open mic every Friday though if you're ever interested. It wouldn't be bad to get recognized my the locals" the bartender said before leaving to get his food. He placed the chicken in front of Tyler and leaned against the counter.
"I used to be like you kid. I wanted to perform and jazz, it's a hard life though, not cut out for everyone"
"I've heard that a lot. I guess it's just what I want to do" Tyler shrugged before beginning to eat his food, watching the scene go about around him.

Max went to the front desk with the girl who was helping him out. "Alright, Mr. Ridges, I believe your total comes to.. $1.000.54. " he sighed taking out his card, and watched her swipe it , before returning it back to his wallet. "Your furniture will be delivered in three days. Thank you!" Max gave a slight head nod.

Going outside he saw a woman who'd caught a glimpse of him while they were shopping. He'd noticed her but didn't give it real thought. "Excuse me.." He walked around her, twirling to face her. "I'm Maxwell. " he held his hand out for her to shake if she desired, "I'm new around here and was wondering of you knew a good store for a home. Maybe a Bed Bath & beyond?" Max shot her a flirty smile.

Oh, he definitely liked her. Her blonde hair, big eyes, and sense of style seemed... Perfect.

Vannie was dancing on the floor with some drink bastard. He started making moves, and she sighed, pushing him off of her and making her way back to her seat. Unfortunately, it looks like another woman got it, so she walked outside, accidentally bumping a man sitting on the end, eating. He looked drop dead handsome, and was probably a lawyer, or doctor. Either way, out of her league.

"I am so sorry, sir." She apologized rather quickly and went towards the door. Pushing it open, the cool breeze blew her hair back, an she felt .. Pretty for just a second, before some bozo came and pushed her out of his way into the bar. She fell on the sidewalk with an 'eep' and got up slowly, examining herself. She had a cut on her hand, which was bleeding, but she didn't care.

It's probably end up being the basis of her cutting tonight.

Maddie was startled by the abruptness of the dark haired man's introduction. She looked up to face him, her phone still in hand as she was googling the nearest Bed Bath and Beyond. The girl noticed his outstretched hand and shook it properly. She smiled back at the dashing man.
"Roxie" she introduced herself before listening to his low voice once again. She couldn't help but smile at his words. He was new as well then. Secretly she was glad to not be the only new person in this large city.
"I was actually just looking one of those up. I just moved into Glenwood, so I doubt I can be much help to you" she apologized, giving him a meek smile. He was certainly attractive. His dark hair, sharp jaw line, and mischievous eyes captured her full attention. She shook her mind of her flirtatious thoughts and stood up a bit straighter than she was.
"I have the address here pulled up on my phone if you'd like it" she offered sheepishly to Maxwell. She was grateful that she had put on some makeup and did her hair decently this morning now that she ran into a hot guy. Maddie would have hated running into him with a plain face, messed hair, and loose clothing. Madeline was very much about appearances. From experience she learned that first appearances were everything. One judged you right away based on how you looked - so she decided to always try to look decent.

He felt something hit his shoulder before hearing a quick apology by a feminine voice. There was no harm done, he hadn't dropped or spilled anything. Tyler saw it was the pretty brunette and raised a brow as she seemed to speed out the door. The wind in her hair looked graceful before she fell to the ground after some man pushed her. Tyler got out of his seat quickly.
"Watch it dude" Tyler said to the man that seemingly didn't notice he caused the girl to fall down.

With worried eyes he looked at the tan dark haired girl. She was beautiful. It was a shame someone had pushed her - but this gave him a chance to at least talk to her. He approached her somewhat hesitantly before looking at her with concern.
"Are you alright? Some people need to learn to watch where they're walking" Tyler said, looking over the girl. "I'm Tyler by the way" he introduced with a charming grin.

Vannie looked up as she saw the young, handsome man come up to her. She sighed sadly, looking down at her feet. "He's come to chew me out, hasn't he? I just fell, you jerk." She thought to herself.

"Are you alright? Some people need to learn to watch where they're walking. I'm Tyler by the way." The guy looked over her, and had the most charming smile. He looked so... innocent, and loving.

Vannie blushed, and nodded to his question. "Yes... I'm alright, thank you. " She giggled at his comment. "I'm.. Vanessa, but friends call me Vannie." She stuck out her hand to shake, then brought it back quickly, seeing as her hand was bleeding. She looked down at it, then the direction of the apartments. "Well, I think I'm going to head home.." Vannie scratched the back of her neck nervously, and laughed a little. "Thanks.. for checking on me, you know. Off to Glenwood, then.." She flashed him a small, shy smile.

God, he was gorgeous, and she would totally kiss him right there if she knew him.

"I have the address here pulled up on my phone if you'd like it.."

Maxwell nodded to her question, looking at her beauty. She was so... breathtaking. He could imagine her without the make-up, and in loose, baggy clothes, and he would still like her.

"Did you just say you just moved into Glenwood? So have I! " He smiled. Maybe he had a chance after all. She seemed way out of league. "I'm Apartment 126B. " He smiled, charmingly.

If he knew what apartment she lived in, then maybe they could meet on their balconies, or.. he could help her move in after he moved in himself, of course. "Remember.. charm her, but put yourself first."

Madeline searched her black purse for a post it note, but instead only found the receipt of the snack she got at the airport. Considering the paper fine enough to work she copied the address onto the back of the receipt before handing it to him. She ran fingers through her blonde locks before smiling at his words.
"Did you just say you just moved into Glenwood? So have I!" he said with a grin, making her smile as well. Maybe this meant she'd see him around. He stated his apartment number with a charming smile, Maddie simply nodded.
"I just moved into lucky 101A" Madeline said. "The apartments are rather nice for a New York complex. I expected a small room and tiny bathroom, but I was pleasantly surprised to see it wasn't that way. Now I just have to add some feminine touch to the place" she said, trying to make some sort of conversation.
"It's always good to try to make some friends when moving to a new place I've learned. Knowing some friendly faces always makes the transition easier" she grinned, slipping her phone back in her pocket.
"Moving is a terrible hassle. All this furniture buying and such. Sorry I'm babbling" she mumbled, trailing off at the end.

"Well Vannie I believe that your hand is bleeding, it may sound corny but you have a very pretty name. Much better than being names Susan or Megan" he said, looking down at the streak of crimson that ran along her delicate hands. He watched her as she seemed awkward in his presence. He didn't really know what he was doing to make it so. His head seemed to perk up more when he heard she lived in Glenwood.
"I live in Glenwood as well ironically. I moved in around a week or so ago, I'm in 106A" he smiled at the gorgeous girl. The way her dark hair cascaded and her eyes held mystery kept him intrigued to say the least.
"If you're heading home I won't stop you, as I need to pay the bill for my food, but how about you come see me at Miko's at 6. I'm playing tonight, we could talk more then possibly" he offered nervously.

"Well Vannie I believe that your hand is bleeding, it may sound corny but you have a very pretty name. Much better than being names Susan or Megan."

She blushed wildly, and bit her lip hard, to keep from squealing. A cute guy was telling her that her name was pretty? WHAT.

"I live in Glenwood as well ironically. I moved in around a week or so ago, I'm in 106A."

"What? No way! I moved in just today. Thankfully, I have some furniture. I've heard it takes a while to get furniture in such a traffic-filled city. I'm in.. 206B, I think.." She then giggled nervously, biting her finger, her pink lips bright.

"If you're heading home I won't stop you, as I need to pay the bill for my food, but how about you come see me at Miko's at 6. I'm playing tonight, we could talk more then possibly."

"Miko's? Um.. Isn't that the restaurant down that way?" She pointed down the opposite street. "I'll see if I can find my way there." She smiled again. "It was nice meeting you, Tyler. I hope to see you around." Vannie waved casually, and started to walk down towards her apartment to stitch up her bleeding palm.

Usually, by now, I'd have some liquid splashed in my face, for "coming on to you"." He slightly chuckled, realizing he may have taken it a little too far. "Anyway, I'm going to make my way to New York's Bed, Bath, & Beyond, and maybe, if fate is right, I'll meet you again at some point." He smiled charmingly, and took her hand, gently pressing his lips on her soft hand.

"Good day, Miss." He bowed, walking backwards, and thinking he left with a smooth exit, until a car beep their horn. "Alright, alright, wise guy!" A man stuck his chubby head out of the driver's window. "Good day to you too, sir!" Maxwell walked on, and found his car, the old convertible in the parking lot.

Maddie watched him take the paper and put it into his back pocket. He patiently listened through her babble before speaking.
"Nonsense, I like your try at conversation. Usually, by now, I'd have some liquid splashed in my face, for "coming on to you"."he chuckled lightly. Madelyn was never really one to blush at men, but she felt a slight color of pink flush to her face. He came off as a strong willed individual to Maddie, but she didn't really mind.
"Luckily for you I don't have any liquid to splash on your face" she joked, flashing a bashful smile.
"Anyway, I'm going to make my way to New York's Bed, Bath, & Beyond, and maybe, if fate is right, I'll meet you again at some point." he spoke before taking her hand and gently placing his lips to the back of it. Her heard fluttered at the contact.
"I'll see you around then, pleasure meeting you" she smiled, carefully taking the hand he had kissed back to her side. He left her with a formal goodbye before attempting to make a shining exit. It would have been near perfect if the man in the aar didn't honk his horn. Some of the people in New York were plain rude she had decided early in her trip. Thinking about the fate comment he made, she smiled to herself. She wasn't a believer in fate, but if for once the world wanted to do her a favor, this would be it. Walking down the sidewalks she decided to take a trip to the grocery store, drop the food off, then make her way to Bed Bath and Beyond. She needed some sort of food in her stomach. Tonight she hoped she would be able to try out the gym at the apartment complex.

In the grocery store she got only what she knew she would be eating and drinking. Checking out she struggled to carry her groceries all the way down to her apartment. Going through the revolving doors she met the warm smile of the old man at the counter before she took the elevator back up to her room to put away the fruits of her labor.

Tyler found it cute when he saw the pink in her cheeks intensify, then again when she bit her lips.
"What? No way! I moved in just today. Thankfully, I have some furniture. I've heard it takes a while to get furniture in such a traffic-filled city. I'm in.. 206B, I think.." she giggled, a nervous sound in her throat as she bit her finger with her pink lips. He watched her intently.
"Well isn't that lucky for me. I have a beautiful girl residing in the same apartment complex as me. I may need to stop by your room and give you a welcome to the neighborhood gift. It only seems proper" he said, flashing her a half smile. Vannie inquired about the restaurant "Miko's".
"Yeah down about 3 blocks from her. You can't really miss it. Awesome food however" he spoke, listening to the rest of what she said with his undivided attention.
"It was nice meeting you as well Miss.Vannie, I hope to see you at my gig tonight" he grinned as she walked off soon after. He raised a brow at what had just happened and went back inside to pay for his meal.
"Cute girl" the bartender said, as if reading the man's mind.
"Definitely" he agreed.

"It was nice meeting you as well Miss Vannie, I hope to see you at my gig tonight."

Those words rang in Vannie's head. "I have got to go to that gig tonight!" She squealed as she crossed the busy street intersection to Glenwood. She raced up to her apartment, riding it with a nice old man.

"Excuse me, do you know who the new tenant is in 206B is?" He asked, scratching his forehead, with his arthritic finger. "Oh, that's me. Vanessa Markson, at your service." She smiled, and they shook hands. "It was nice to meet you m'lady." He smiled warmly, as the elevator ringed, and came to a stop, the door slowly revealing the hallway. "Of course, you too, sir." Vannie felt amazing.

Fair enough to say, Vannie hurriedly wrapped her hand with some gauze she happened to have in the bathroom, and sighed, looking at herself in the mirror. With a few make-up touches, she felt even better. She quickly changed into a more formal outfit.

After changing, and re-curling her hair some, she set out once again, much happier, and wanting ever so badly to see her new-found friend, Tyler perform. Vanessa could sing a little, but she'd never sang for a crowd, or anyone other than herself, really.

She knew she'd get to the bar a little early, seeing as it was only about noon-ish, maybe? She shrugged. She just wanted to see him again, and feel the feeling she felt.

Maxwell then realized that he needed food to survive. He drove up to a little drive thru place, ordering a burger, fries, and a medium soda, pulling off to the parking lot, and eating.

After finishing his nutritious meal, he revved his engine and got back in the heavy lanes of traffic. Sitting for an hour, finally paid off as the light switched to green, and he pressed the gas. Eventually, he made it to the Bed Bath & Beyond, following Google Maps.

He'd hoped he'd see Roxie again. Just the way her hair shone in the light, and her smile was bright, made a fella not forget a gal like her.

Just the way she spoke, she seemed bursting with happiness, and laughter, and Maxwell needed someone like that in his life for once. Someone to bring out the good in him instead of the bad, he'd inherited from his father..

Putting away groceries was harder than she initially thought it was going to be. She had to choose where everything was to go, how it was arranged, and so forth. At least her siblings weren't there to mess it up this time. Though she honestly did miss them. She hoped they would call her from time to time, but figured it would have to be her that did the calling. For food she ended up eating only two granola bars as she still needed to buy dishes and silverware. It may not seem like much, but it would hold her over until dinner.

It came time to head over to the home store to get the rest of the things she would need. She had an idea of what she needed in her head, but knowing herself she would end up buying more. Not that she particularity minded. She liked decorating.

Heading out her apartment door and locking it behind her she headed back down to the lobby and went out into the street. She followed Google maps to Bed Bath & Beyond, and mentally prepared herself for the amount of money she was going to probably spend.

Inside she resided in the bathroom section to begin getting things for her one and a half bathrooms. Black towels looked nice, and they were soft to the touch. She placed them in her cart before looking at the rest of the things.

He had finished his food and drink rather quickly after she left. He payed the bartender and continued out the door to do his business. It was only 4:30, but he knew he would need to set up the stage at Moxie's. He began briskly walking back to Glenwood to retrieve his guitar.

Tyler shared a strange bond with the guitar. It was the only real thing he had of his Father's, and he took amazing care of it. Often he replaced the strings and buffed the wood. In return the guitar produced a beautiful sound when played by Tyler.

He hoped desperately that the gorgeous girl he saw earlier would decide to come to his gig. She had a beautiful smile, and honestly he really wanted to see her again.

Taking the elevator down he began his walk to Moxie's, which would take about 20 minutes on foot.

She smiled when she saw the familiar handsome man reveal himself in the isle. He commented on her towel choice and she saw the charming smile that drew her to continue talking to him in the first place.
"I'm glad you approve of my towel choice. It's a very important thing you know. Crappy towels are just a sad thing" she grinned, taking a grey hand towels from the same area and placing it in her cart. She looked in his cart as well and raised a brow.
"It seems you've gotten some good towels as well. I'm glad we approve of one anothers towel choice" she laughed slightly before somewhere in her wind envisioned the man wrapped in only that towel. She shook the thought quickly. Madeline grabbed some of the bathroom appliance like things, and a few decor items that were in the same isle. She would need to grab things for her kitchen, bedroom, and curtains now.
"It's rather troublesome to move with nothing. Having to buy all this" she sighed at the man.

Walking down the street he saw the gorgeous brunette once more sitting on a bench, looking to be in thought. She was dressed more formally now, and she looked wonderful in his eyes.
"Hey, I'm glad you decided to come" he smiled at her, hoping her didn't startle her. The restaurant was closed at the moment, but he had permission to go in and set his things up as well.
"If you'd like, you can come sit inside while I help set up the audio and such. I wouldn't want to leave a beautiful lady on the streets of New York" he flashed a charming smile at the girl, adjusting the strap of his guitar.

"Flew in from Knoxsville today." He smirked, and looked at Roxie's face, as she looked over bed spreads. "I.. I have a car if you need me to maybe carry some stuff back to the apartments for you." He smiled, and went down the next aisle, looking over pillows. "You're a pretty good dancer." He chuckled, looking through the pillows.

Vanessa suddenly looked up as she heard him. "Doing alright over there?" She smiled, "I'm fine, baby." Her eyes then grew huge, and she clasped her hand over her mouth. Why did she have to screw it up so fast? Her heart was racing from calling him baby. She hadn't called anyone that in forever. Biting her finger nervously, she corrected herself. "I'm fine, Tyler." Gosh, she wanted to have his babies, and just love on him all day, he was so freakin' adorable.

Moxie had made a nest of a sorts in her bedroom. She had a plethora of blankets all spread around. The black and grey bedspread was going to look rather nice on her black bedroom furniture. She had gotten metallic silver pillows and gold decorative ones. Little to say she was excited. Deciding it would be a good idea to check out the new gym she put on some yoga pants and slipped on a sports bra and went downstairs. She didn't really know what she would do to pass the time until her furniture came in. Other than the job interview tomorrow she didn't have much to do. Her mind didn't really leave the dashing man she had met earlier. Her gut was telling her to stay away from relationships, but in all honesty - she was tired of feeling lonely. Walking down to the gym she got onto the treadmill. The gym was empty to her fortune. Having too many people at a gym made it feel...sweaty. As if people weren't already sweaty enough. At the gym she wore no makeup as she previously took it off. Her hair was up into a messy pony tail. She started walking, but was soon breaking out into a steady job.

Tyler awkwardly took a huff of his cigarette. Hesitantly he put a hand on her shoulder and looked her in the eye.
"I'm sorry that happened to you" he said sincerely, giving her a small smile.
"I started because my Dad had them around the house - then I just took em. Though I don't see much of my family" he sighed, leaning back into the wall of the building, taking his hand off the girl when he noticed it was still there.
"Sorry" he mumbled.

"It's alright. Not like you can change the past..." She paused, as he spoke.

"I started because my Dad had them around the house - then I just took em. Though I don't see much of my family." She smiled up at him, feeling comfortable around him, and liked the presence of his hand on her shoulder, and turned to him as he took his hand off.

"But you can make the present better." Vannie finished, and looked him in the eyes, a twinkling in hers. A twinkling of admiration, and care. "I hope you can dance with me tonight." She muttered, smiling shyly. "I'll even stick around, and keep rejecting all these losers, just for a dance. " Vanessa blushed lightly, and hoped he wouldn't think she was moving things too fast.

Vannie felt... shy, but comfortable in his presence, as if they had things in common that she didn't know of.. yet. She wanted to know this man, the mystery man that lived in her apartment. Sure, she knew his name, Tyler, but.. something told her that he was just one big mystery, waiting to be revealed by the perfect girl.

Max slumped down in the chair, and looked over the balcony. He saw the blonde he'd ran into at Bed Bath & Beyond, who'd he gotten the directions to go to from her as well. Taking a deep breath, he went to call down to her, but she'd already passed by. He stopped a minute, thinking he'd gone out of his mind. He really did like her, if he even contemplated chasing her, and they'd just met.

Max hopped in his old car, yet in excellent condition, and drove, quite slowly due to the traffic, to the gym. He walked in casually, dressed in normal clothes. It was pretty obvious he wasn't there to work-out. Spotting the girl, he leaned against the wall, with a smirk, watching her jog.

When she finished, he charmingly half-smiled, his arms crossed as he leaned against the wall. "Well, hello there, Rox." He chuckled.

She hadn't noticed Max watching her and she finally she stopped running. Running was a thing she did in her spare time. She never wanted to end up like the rest of her family. It helped her release pent up emotion and at the same time kept her thin. She stopped the treadmill and took the white towel, patting it over her face. She panted and sat down onto the now still treadmill and took a large sip from her pink water bottle. Madeline wasn't a fan of pink - but it was the only one they had. It was then she noticed Max and became self conscious.
"Oh...shit. How long have you been there? I hope you didn't see that ordeal" she said, thinking of a way to cover herself more. She found none.
"Looks like you aren't here to work out either way" she observed with a raised brow - wondering why he was here. Not that she really minded.

"I'd appreciate if you keep rejecting those losers. They aren't good enough for you."

Vanessa smiled at his statement feeling butterflies in her stomach. After he said he had to go back, she nodded, but grabbed his hand. "I'd love that." She warmly smiled, and looked down. Vannie really liked Tyler's nervousness, giving her chill bumps. "I'll only go with to dinner you if you promise to let me show you a place I found after dinner. It has a lovely view of the water." Vannie smiled, as she remembered finding the quaint, little white gazebo she'd found, by the water's edge in the park. She came about a month ago to NY to scope out her apartment, and took a stroll in the park, stopping at the gazebo.

"No, I did not come here to work out, Captain Obvious. But, I did come here for a reason, and that reason is you. I can't get you out of my head." Madeline grew wide eyed at that. She saw his hands grip harder on himself, and she raised a curious brow.
"Well of course you can't. I'm so terribly irresistible covered in my own sweat" she joked.
Secretly she felt giddy at his statement. So she wasn't the only one thinking there was something there?
"I wondered if perhaps you wanted to go to dinner tonight? I have a car, and I know you must not have much to eat, either, as your furniture isn't here either." he finished, making Madeline put a finger on her lip, deciding what to do. The please at the end melted her heart.
"I guess it wouldn't hurt. I have nothing else to do anyway" she grinned. "Though I do need to take a shower and get some decent clothes on if you wouldn't mind" she added, standing up from her previous sitting position on the end of the treadmill. Stretching her arms in the air she let out a satisfied sigh.

Vanessa quickly felt nervous as he kissed her hand softly, and blushed, a shy smile creeping on her lips. She nodded at his comment, walking in, and resuming her position at the table by the window once more, her head resting on her palm, as she watched Tyler sing closely. Then, a man tapped her shoulder.

"Miss, are you here with anyone tonight?" It was a young man, who surprisingly handsome. She blushed, her eyes growing wide, and nodding. "Sorry, but I am. Can I help you with something though?" She couldn't just let the man leave. "Um, yes, actually. Can you come with me?" Vanessa hesitated, and looked to Tyler, and winked at him, before going outside with the man. "Okay, I need to get back to my date, so I can't help you for long." She said quickly, with confidence. The man grinned, and held the door open for her, and stood outside with her, and held her hand, which she quickly took back. "Excuse me?" The man chuckled. "Oh, come on, Vanessa. You think you can hide from your ol' Ty?"

Vanessa almost fainted, leaning against the window. "Tyler?" She looked at him closely, and touched his face. Then, all her old feelings bubbled back to the surface, and as she held her tiny purse, she whacked him, and walked back inside, smiling, and sat at the table. Tyler was on the ground, and you could see him stand, through the window, and contemplate going back inside, but, shake his head, and go on his way.

Vanessa resumed her position of resting her head on her palm, and thought about what just happened. Tyler, her ex, had definitely changed. He wasn't the frail skinny boy, who was horny all the time, it seemed as the man who had just confronted her was bulky, and had a beard, but she shook him out of her head, and focused on Tyler, her new crush.

She watched his smile and saw as his hands went inside his pockets.
"Do you need a ride back? Because I can take you back." he offered. She quickly looked down at herself and shook her head.
"I'll manage to get home. I don't want to get your car dirty, it'll be faster to jog anywho - traffic is terrible no matter what time of day" she managed to say before gathering her belongings and patting him on the shoulder.
"Come by my apartment in an hour or so, apartment 101 - but I'm guessing you remember" she grinned, passing him before setting into a steady jog before he could say any other words. She felt giddy inside. A date, with an attractive man? She was all for that. After a few minutes of jogging, what she was guessing only a mile, she arrived back at the apartments and took the stairs up versus the elevator. She knew her body would be a bit sore in the morning, but she was always one to push her limits. Taking one of the towels she had bought and her hygiene products from her bag, she went into the shower.

Tyler continued singing, though slightly confused on where Vannie had gone with that man. Was she already bailing out on him? It was a bit disheartening, though in his voice he definitely didn't show it. He began singing "Heartbreak Station" by Cinderella when she finally came back in, assuming her old posture. Mentally he was relieved to see the girl didn't leave him empty handed and alone tonight. Though that wouldn't be the first time. Four songs and one tired voice later he was done. He walked off the stage with a smile, talking to the people that came up to him briefly before sitting down next to the lovely lady.
"How was the show?" he asked with a grin, taking a large sip from his water bottle.

Vanessa noticed Tyler's obscure expression as she looked up at him, again. She felt nervous, her blood running through her veins. "Heartbreak Station?" She thought with a disappointed expression, and thought about leaving, but decided the song was just a coincidence as she'd just come in from slapping her ex-boyfriend.

She saw the tried in his eyes, as Tyler came closer to her, eventually taking a seat across from her at the raised chairs and table. Vanessa turned, facing him, with her head propped up on her clenched fists, and she looked at him curiously. She could see the slight sweat around his forehead, and dry lips from singing into the microphone, and chuckled slightly as the water bottle seemed to vanish as soon as he opened it.

"How was the show?"

Vanessa shrugged, and looked at him with excitement in her eyes. "It was good. But, I'm not much to ask, as I don't usually go out to listen to live bands." She smirked, and then bit her nail. "Are we still going to dinner? I'm certain you're just exhausted, though, so I understand if you don't want to."

Maxwell cracked a smile, as he watched her suddenly leave, and run off to the apartments. He managed to call out, "Alright!" before she got too far.

He then hopped over the door, into his car. He buckled quickly, and revved up the engine, driving over to the apartments, almost thankful with the traffic, as it took him half an hour to get to the apartments, only a few blocks down. Max parked in his usual spot, his nose filling with the scent of gas, and he inhaled, then exhaled with a grin. After slowly riding the elevator up to his floor, he then went back down to hers, and stood outside her door. "Can't hurt being a little early.." He chuckled, and leaned on the railing next to him, the wind going through his hair.

Her jog broke a sweat that would quickly be washed away by the soothing waters of her shower. The grey fluffy towel she had laid out for herself sat on toilet lid. Luckily she had remembered to bring hygiene products in her suitcase and she lathered her hair in raspberry scented shampoo and conditioner. Her skin smelled of coconuts. Maddie always took pride in looking and smelling good. She deemed to to be very important. Stepping out of the shower about 15 minutes later she searched through her newly hung closet for things to wear. She settled with a rather casual outfit. Madeline was never one for complicated clothing. She liked simplicity.

Her once wet hair was damp and after applying natural looking makeup she felt she looked decent enough to go out. Madeline turned off the lights in her apartment before opening her apartment door to see Max. She grinned at him leaning against the railway.
"Haven't been waiting long I hope?" she questioned, stepping out to lock the door.

"It was good. But, I'm not much to ask, as I don't usually go out to listen to live bands." Vannie had said. He took another long sip of his water. Singing for about an hour and a half straight tended to strain the vocals just a bit. Other than that his hand was a bit sore from all the strumming, nothing terrible however. He just felt slightly uncomfortable in his own skin. Though that could be because of the pretty girl that sat next to him. He watched as Vannie began biting her nail.
"Are we still going to dinner? I'm certain you're just exhausted, though, so I understand if you don't want to." Tyler quickly shook his head.
"No I still want to have dinner with you. Don't worry - I'm fine. Here we can flag down a waiter and get some menus. I'm starving" he smiled, waving over the passing female waitress. She smiled and came back with two large leather menus for the two.
