Introduction

Life. Its a complete bitch. I mean seriously, no matter what you do it's gonna grab you by the throat and choke until your just on the cusp of freedom, then its gonna let go, give you just a moment to catch your breathe and do it all over again. I remember when my brother died. He'd always been a troublemaker and a heavy drinker so I wasn't too surprised when I found out he had been killed while trying to rob a liquor store. I always told him that alcohol was gonna be the death of him. I guess that's when I really started thinking about death though. I converted to Christianity, stopped hanging out at bars to meet women, actually fell in love, got engaged. A year later on the anniversary of my brother's death I died, in a church, shot by a drunk hobo. Not even sure where the fuck he got the gun. Whatever higher power exists is a douche.

So what happened next. Fate decided to slap me a few more times. You see most people get to pass on, I'm guessing they reunite with their loved ones or some bullshit like that. Me though? I got stuck with the job of Grim Reaper. Yeah, no happy endings here, just another depressing century or two working my ass off, and now I don't even get paid. You see apparently fate has this lottery system, and if you exist, your entered, and if you win you get stuck here taking people souls. Granted you do get a few bonuses, the power to 'ghost' or turn invisible to anyone who isn't close to their due date. And it could be worse, you could be the poor sap who's reaper didn't show up and is now stuck in an immobile body that's still capable of feeling pain.

Well anyways, I'm Gregory and I'm now the manager of the New York branch of Grim reapers. Our job is to take a victims soul and lead them onto the afterlife, lucky little bastards.

Grims

Grim Reapers: A group of normal, everyday people who just happen to take souls. They got the short end of the stick in both life and death. They are given appointments by whomever happens to managing that branch of reapers (in this case Gregory) and must take the soul of a person before that person's body is buried. To spare their victim the pain of death and the pain of an autopsy most reapers try to remove the soul a moment before death reaches the victim. Reapers have the power to turn invisible to the eyes of the living. Anyone that's supposed to die on that day can still see them though. A reaper is not meant to have a huge affect on the world and is told not to get involved in anything.

Ghouls: The ghouls are created when someone dies without an appointment, usually meaning a reaper killed them. Ghouls are the force behind death. They are in a permanent ghost state, thus meaning that the living cannot see them. They cause accidents, feed a person's anger and are essentially murderers. They say that a reaper can destroy a ghoul but it is suggested that they never test it.

The afterlife: How the fuck should I know?

Literacy: English is one of the most complex languages in the world. Even I make the occasion mistake. As such you just have to remember the basics. Capitalize every sentence, use real worlds and add a period at the end of every sentence. Not saying I don't want more, but I won't demand it.
Now writing style. First thing, third person please. I don't mind reading a book in first person but it's out of place in a roleplay. I believe in quality over quantity. Sometimes short and simple is what the roleplay needs. It should never need five paragraphs of fluff. I'd prefer it if you found a balance in the middle but I won't complain about a single one liner.

Posting: Posting should be done at least once a week. Take time to read everyone else's posts and and take time to think about your post. If other members pressure you to post constantly then virtually bitch slap them.

Maturity: It's not all daisies and lollipops. But we don't need literary porn either. If you have to roleplay to get off don't do it here. There are plenty of other places that endorse that behavior. Sensual scenes may be present though. Just don't go into too much detail and then time skip the fun stuff.
This Roleplay will include some violence. It's called dark humor for a reason. If you can't laugh at some guy catching his beard on fire while trying to light a cigarette your in the wrong place. Swearing is gonna happen, I understand that real human beings cuss but don't act like a thirteen year old trying to impress his friends with the vocabulary that he learn from his drunk father.

Roleplaying: I'd like to remind people to make their characters believable. We don't need a bunch of clones who shoot lasers out of their ass. You want your character to touch people's hearts, not make people want to punch retarded cancer patients.
Also this goes along with maturity. Don't worry about being politically correct. You want your character to be a hooker, then be a hooker. Just remember the rules on literary porn.

This is a character driven story.

Jane couldn't help but lift an eyebrow at Lisa when she looked back at her. Well it wasn't like she was trying very hard to hide the fact. Jane wasn't one to cover up a situation with falsities and nice behavior. She'd been walking the earth for far too long to really give a shit anymore about people and their feelings. The way the little brat smiled at her, though, made her visibly shiver and cringe. Jeez! Kids were creepy as all get out! She sucked up some more smoke from her ciggie and waved a lacks hands at her. As soon as the little girl turned away, the hand flipped around to lift a slender middle finger in the air. Her scowl was very visible under her sunglasses and the man Lisa ended up running into saw her rude gesture. He shook his head slowly but didn't say anything.

"Psycho-freaks." Jane whispered. Whether she was talking about the living or the dead, one couldn't tell.

Faye walked along the street, and came to what the file said wasthe site of the crash. She sat down on a nearby bench, and crossed her legs. It was the waiting that annoyed her. She reread the file, and sighed. "So boring.." she murmured to herself. She spotted a street vendor, and stood up, jogging lightly over. She picked up a random music magazine, paid the guy a dollar, and sat down again, checking her watch. Twelve minutes to go. Woo. She opened the magazine and scanned it for something of interest. Hmm. her favorite band was coming to town. That was cool. There was some new band out, and they were supossedly the new 'it'. "Yeah, right!" she chuckled to herself, and then she heard the whuppah-whuppah-whuppah of a chopper. She put down the magazine. "Showtime, ladies and gentleman" she muttered.
