The true purpose of a dragon's life is to guard and protect. To do so, the brave dragon must destroy all who threatens which the dragon guards. For within this guarded object, lies the dragon's soul.

Introduction

The true purpose of a dragon's life is to guard and protect; to do so, it must destroy all who threaten what it guards. In every life of a young dragon, wiether it male or female, element or power, it will go in search for the object which it will guard for the rest of its life. With that object, the dragon will then place its very soul at the heart of the object creating an unbreakable bond untill death. Feeling what it feels, seeing what it sees the two become a whole forever. This object can be anything that the dragon wishes. It can be something large like a castle or a cave. It can be very small like a gem or jewlery. The object can even be a living being like a human or something dead and lifeless like a cemetary. Whatever the dragon may choose, it must guard it corageously. For if a rival destroys the dragon's precious possession, it destroys the dragon in return.

Become a strong and noble guardian dragon with power or element. If your dragon is elemental, it is not limited to the four main elements. Its element can be shadow, crystal, plasma, or sound. Pick wisely, the dragon can only be of one element while having many powers. Power dragons can have many, many abilities, which makes them very deadly and strong.

Your dragon can have a rider, which is usually the object that the dragon chooses to put its soul into, forming that bond, or fly as a free dragon. Your choice.

The sun broke through the canopy of tree's, bathing a small camp in morning light. THe birds chirped, echoing through the forest, bringing the arrival of the morning. The embers of a fire lay in a small ring, burnt out long ago. Laying next to the black ashes id the figure of a young girl wrapped in a blanket. It falls and rises with her soft breath as she rolls to the side, covering her eyes from the light.
The massive figure of a white dragon lifts his horned head and looks up through the tree's, breathing in deeply. He stretches out his body and takes careful steps toward the girl, nudging her sleeping form with a massive horn.
"Princess, it's time to rise,"he says as he pulls her blanket high in the air with a claw.
"Belzeneff..." Echo moans as she reaches up to snatch at the blanket, "Five more minutes...
The beast scoops her up onto his back as she cries out in shock.
"Come on, you need to get into town and get yourself some food." He didn't enjoy the idea of her being alone, but he was never too far away. Breathing in deeply once more he turned to her. She was now gripping his back, seated behind his horns, rooting through a bag she kept there.
"It's going to rain, I can smell it. We need to find a cave for tonight. We wont be traveling in a storm."
The girl giggled and pet him, "Why don't you just make the big bad storm go away Bezzi? She knew he hated that nickname, but it had grown on him. Though he wold never let any of the other dragons hear her call him that. As she pulled out a bag of coins, looted off the body of one of her pursuers, she dropped a few coins into her hand and began counting.
"I don't want to draw extra attention to you Echo...so we will rest tonight. Do you have enough money there to eat? I can hunt for you if you wish."
"No no, there is plenty here for some food, I have had enough moose for a while." she said as she rubbed his mane, "Ving-ving."
Hearing the command, Belzeneff took off, breaking through the treetops and soaring high in the sky. Spotting a town in the distance he shifted his direction toward the rising smoke, carrying on his back his most prized possession. The girl giggles as they flew, petting him and smiling. It was times like these that he forgot she was wanted, the danger slipped his mind and he allowed himself to truly enjoy her company. Spotting the storm clouds looming in the distance, he estimated they had a couple of hours before it began to fall. Pushing himself faster he zipped toward the town.

The sun at the farthest edge of the horizen burned its final light upon the evening, slowly preparing to sink and let the day die. Its glowing rays streaked across the sky, painting it with many colors of pinks and reds. More of its golden fingers casted out upon the ground bathing an ancient land of rock and dust, a land of a fallen kingdom.

The final streaks of light seeped into the cracks of stone that used to hold up powerful walls, and shined upon the echoing towers of an old eroded castle. Which seemed to be the only building standing strong. Now, the only life that was florishing here was vegetation growing along the stones and statues that lay crumbled on the jagged roadways and dirt.

A little song bird fluttered above the stones and landed on a stone gargoyle, pecking at the vines that webbed across its snarling face. The bird's cheerful song seemed to be the only pleasant air of this forgotten place.

Soon, the sun drew in its rays and sank below the horizen. The painted sky grew dark, and the ancient shadows of the kingdom lurched again.

Suddenly, the swelling darkness seemed to awaken a life unseen in the daylight. The castle, the very stones of the castle seemed to shift and stir. Then, from the deepest depths of the towers, a rythmic pound sounded from behind its walls. A heartbeat. It was as if the night had awakened the dark castle itself and was regaining life from its slumber. The stones along the main tower still continued to shift, even climb up the tower. But, as the churning mass of black crawls up the tower and extends a giant pair of nightmarish bat-like wings, it's soon to realize that the strange movement wasn't the stone of the castle at all. But a mighty jet black dragoness that was camoflauged against the walls of the castle, unseen even in the daylight.

The silent air was split with the sound of the dragon's tallons striking and piercing the solid stone as she climbed to the very top of the highest tower. She extended her neck up at the sky and flicked a wet, purple tongue; tasting the cool air. Her blue eyes burned in the moonlight, glowing coldly under the pale beam. The black dragoness soon stretched her wings up over the tower, and with a deep roar, took to the skies. Ready for the hunt, once again.

The warm rays of the sun rosed Scylla from her sleep, the garden was much quieter than usual, Pyris was probably down at the village or out hunting with that wolf of hers. Scylla couldn't help but worry whenever Pyris left the safety of the gardens boundaries, she may not have been bonded to the child but she did raise her. Scylla knew that if anything happened to Pyris she would never forgive herself, so she was relieved when she felt Pyris and the wolf's presence return to the garden. As Pyris approached Scylla pinned the young girl with a rather formidable death glare. "You know you are not supposed to leave the garden without telling me."
"I apologise, I wished to go to the village, there is a festival on today." Scylla huffed in annoyance, she knew the girl desired a normal but the more she went to the village the harder it was going to be to explain why her parents never went with her. "Are you planning on going back to the village today?"
"Yes, unless you have a problem with it."
"Pyris we both know that I couldn't stop you if I tried." Scylla may be a dragon but Pyris never did anything she didn't want to, that girl was too stubborn for her own good, but Scylla knew that if she tried to keep the girl here she would find a way to escape. "So does that mean I have your permission to go to the festival?"
"Yes, but be careful, stay safe I promised your mother I'd protect you and I intend to do just that even if it means I have to force you to stay here."
"I promise I'll be careful, thankyou Scylla." Pyris threw her arms around Scylla's neck before running off to head back to the village.

Saga found herself lying in a field, surrounded on all sides by golden wheat. Some farmer somewhere wouldn't be very happy when he found the mess she had made of his crop. Saga stood and stretched, claws and tail flattening even more of the future harvest. A cheerful sun shone down from a bright blue sky and warmed her pale skin. Pleased, Saga stretched out her wings to catch even more of the light.

Another morning. Saga didn't know how much time had passed since had been this clear-headed. The spirits took up so much of her that she barely remembered herself sometimes. Idly, she wondered if it was so with other dragons and their charges. In the back of her mind she knew that the old Saga would never have allowed herself to be subjugated so completely. So much had changed since then.

Slowly, memories of the past several days began to float to the surface. Vivid flashes of sight, sound, and emotion. The spirits gathering in the cemetery, the only light the pale glow from their ghostly forms. The thrill as Alter stepped forward and gave the command, sending them all running headlong into the night. The almost audible heartbeats of the poor wretches who happened to cross their path--they listened with wide eyes to Alter's invitation to join him. And the wild joy that filled her as they chased down any who refused.

These hunts were coming more and more frequently of late. But why? Alter, her most persistent spirit, was dormant now, so she couldn't ask him. He rarely stirred during daylight, and after the hunt he would likely be silent for at least a few days. She was looking forward to the break even though she could still feel his presence, like a small weight in her chest.

Ah, but here was someone else. She felt a chill that almost completely negated the warmth of the sun. Saga folded in her wings as a young man appeared before her, one of the souls that had chosen to join them in the hunt. He appeared young and ordinary. Probably a simple laborer. He had a frightened and confused expression on his face.

"P-please, dragon. I've did what you want." Here the man looked as if he would be sick, and he had to pause before he could continue. "My mom'll be worried. They'll want me at work. Please, let me go home."

The newer ones never understood--there was no going home. Once they had joined in the hunt they could never leave it. Her words never had any effect when she tried to explain this to them. It always took time...or perhaps a demonstration. Saga sighed. This lesson would be hard and it pleased Saga to show these souls kindness where she could.

"Where is your home, Jon?" The name came to her instantly

Jon hesitated, and then pointed to a blocky group of dark silhouettes in the distance. A plume of smoke snaked up from it to the sky. A town.

"Very well, then. I will accompany you."

"You? You're coming with me?" His voice was almost a squeak.

"Yes...it has been sometime since I've visited a human town, and I would like to see one again." Saga paused and put a softer tone in her voice. "I can promise you that I will bring no harm to anyone there today. The hunt is over...for now."

"Y-yes. Of course."

Saga thought briefly about stealing a human form, but decided against it. She wanted to stay herself for now. She took a deep breath and as she let it go again, she shrunk until she was no larger than an ordinary lizard. Quick as blinking, she climbed up the man's coat and found a perch on his shoulder. Saga nodded in the direction of the village.

"Go on."

And with that they made there way to town, Jon not quite remembering how to keep his feet on the ground.

After only a short while Belzeneff reached a pasture far enough away from the town that he could land without being spotted. Looking down at Echo as she slid down his wing and skidded at the ground. She tossed a green cloak over herself, that fell to the ground, and flipped up the hood.
"How do I look Bezzi? she asked as she crossed her hands in front of her. Giving her a once over he noted that her long white hair was hidden from view, was it not for her scent he wouldn't recognize her. Tipping his head to the side a bit he replied to her in his deep throaty tone, his mouth never moving. The phrase seemed to slip through the gap in his teeth as he flicked his tongue, "Remove your headdress Miss, and I will hold it here for you." Obediently she flipped her hood back and removed the beaded hair piece, laying it on his large extended claw. Leaning over she hugged his thick leg, and turned as she flipped her hood back on her head. Giving him a wave she began walking the rest of the way into town.
Belzeneff grumbled as she hugged him, it was a human action that confused him, but he knew she meant well. He cared deeply about the young princess, still only twelve or thirteen human years old. Though he was obligated to guard her through the contract, it gave him more entertainment then guarding a statue.
"Hurry back Princess, I'll be waiting." His deep voice rang through her head, and he watched her wave in response. Taking off he rested in a nearby wooded area, watching her through their bond.

Young Echo skipped as she walked, crossing into the town. The Marketplace was bustling, and she quickly made her way over to stands filled with delicious ripened fruits, and farm grown vegetables. Her cloak kept her hidden, so she enjoyed herself as she walked through the town. Her basket soon became heavy with her produce, so she stopped at a street cafe and sat up on the stool. The sounds of the Market zipped behind her, and the smell of the food sizzling beyond the bar was tantalizing. Tossing another coin down, the barmen slid a bowl of the steaming rice drizzled in a sweet meat sauce.
As she ate, Belzeneff took in her surroundings, the colors seemed to festive for a normal day. If there was to be a festival soon, Echo would surely want to go. He rested his large head on his feet and prayed the girl wouldn't notice.

Pyris was walking through the village, the people here knew, or at least thought they knew who she was. To them she was the young who visited the village to gather supplies for her parents, it wasn't exactly a lie, she was collecting supplies for the closest thing she had to parents. Pyris looked down at the black wolf who never left her side and knew she would be safe.

Scylla was worried, she sensed another dragon’s presence close to the village, logically she knew Pyris wasn't in danger, but she prayed that the dragon would pass quickly. Scylla hadn't any contact with another dragon since she found the garden, she didn't want another dragon on her territory, but as long as it wasn't a threat she would leave it be.

Thud...thud...thud... The beat of Raven's black wings sounded at her sides, cold wind that swooped out of each flap swirled the dark tops of the clouds. The small claws at the tips of each wing finger seemed to slice the air currents with every thrust of Raven's wings while her lean, massive body cut through the starry sky swiftly. Though a large dragon, Raven still could remain unseen by the eye with the helpful use of her power of shadow and the graceful sail of her flight.

She then turned her nose slightly upward, and flickered her long snake-like tongue to capture any scent of prey. Her location was mostly of hills and rocky cliffs, but there was sure to be wild life within the area. Maybe even wandering humans...
The misty touch of the clouds speckled her flicking tongue, along with the cold rushing winds. Which constantly tried to try the saliva on Raven's tongue every time she tasted the air.

Besides the scent of the landscape air, nothing came to her. Raven retrieved her tongue and curled her lips at the empty smell. She flexed her talons, eager to feel freshly killed prey in her grasp. Raven bared her teeth and growled, she will not go tonight empty handed!

After hours of hunting, the black dragon found herself flying above a lush green forest. It stretched forth onto the horizon, the canopies rocked in the night wind whispering their leaves. Raven scanned the forest, sharp eyes glaring into its shadows for a meal. Luckily, Raven could fly at a great height and still be able to search through the darkness of the trees. The arms of her wings outstretched fully, expanding the thin membranes as she glided silently. Her dark menacing head lowered and turned as the two glowing blue eyes peered among the branches. Besides the whispers of the wind, the forest seemed very quiet. This brought an idea to Raven. The creatures are silent perhaps, because they feel there's no danger. But, of course, there is danger. There is a beast out to make her kill on one of the innocent woodland creatures. So, why not give them a little...jolt?

Raven's lips turned up in a toothy grin, then peeled back as she pried open her jaws and let out a deep roar. The thundering sound burst from her throat and out through the air, clearly alarming the sleeping animals of the forest. As her roar began to die down, Raven rolled her joints and pulled in her wings to swoop down to the canopies, only to slash her tail across the upper branches. The loud crack of Raven's tail snapping thick limbs of the trees certainly frightening her prey and soon, the area was sounding with alerts. Raven used their cries as an advantage and dipped down towards the bellowing alarms from larger mammals such as deer or moose.

More loud cracks and thuds exploded around the trees as Raven crashed through the tangled crosses of tree branches. Her wings clasped against the trees, even trapping birds in the membranes as they tried to fly away. The thundering beat of Raven's wings filled the silence of the woodlands along with the continuing snaps of tree limbs. Raven let out a vicious snarl and slashed at thick tree trunks and skittering squirrels, leaving splintered gashes in the wood. Satisfied that she had alerted this part of the forest, Raven gave a powerful beat of her wings and lifted herself back over the trees.

She flew much closer to the canopies now. Jerking her snarling head at the different alerts of retreating animals. A new fire burned within her, a drive to not stop untill she's satisfied. The thrill of the hunt. A bellow sounded just beneath her that quickly caught Raven's attention. She jerked her head towards the noise and peered down into the branches below. A wide display of moose antlers was the first to be spotted, bobbing upon an arched head. Raven then managed to make out the moose's thick shoulders, rocking in the rythm of a thundering gallop. Her leathery lips peeled back over her long sharp teeth in a hungry growl. Black pupils formed a slit on their gleaming blue orbs as Raven let out a hunters' roar and dove down onto the poor moose. Deadly talons sank into the soft earth to land her right on top of the moose, just as she plunged her head downwards and locked her powerful jaws around the thrashing animal. The large moose let out a gut wrenching howl when it felt her teeth pop into its thick flesh. Its hooves kicked in vain trying to fight against her, but as the solid crunch of its heavy rib cage sounded, the moose soon went limp.

Raven glared down her snout at the large brown animal locked in her jaws and grumbled in satisfaction. She kneaded the soft ground before leaping off of the forest floor into the air with the moose dangling from her teeth.

After landing at the far border of the same forest and feasting on her prize, Raven settled herself to digest her meal at the edge of a cliff. She gripped her talons around the mighty boulders of the grassy cliff and growled contently. Her castle is not far at all, infact, the reason why Raven could leave her beloved fortress was because she was still in kingdom territory. Not only does Raven's heart beat within the castle, it also beats within the castle's territory. Therefore, the wicked dragon isn't bound to cling onto the stone towers of The Black Castle. But, even though the territory is large, this makes it harder to keep constant protection on the castle for there is so much land she can roam.

At the break of dawn, Raven gathered herself and left the cliff on to her shadowed castle to keep watch upon its stone walls.

"The festival's today. I'd almost forgotten."

Saga swayed back and forth on Jon's shoulders, keeping time with his footfalls. As they neared the town and his excitement grew, he seemed to forget his fear of her. He chattered on, almost as if he were talking to an old friend. And oddly enough, as the colorful flags and streamers draping the town grew nearer, the more her excitement grew as well. A dragon flew by far overhead, but she payed it little mind. Whatever it was doing likely held little interest for her.

She suddenly felt a sharp jolt, as if she had been drenched in cold water. Somewhere there -was- a dragon who had made itself a little too interesting. The festival and town forgotten, Saga disappeared, spiriting Jon away with her. She reappeared half a world away, in her territory, her home, the cemetery. It was pitch dark here, and quiet. Everything seemed as it should be, but there was an odd tension in the air. Whatever dragon had been near here had already gone. But she decided to settle in and wait for a while, in case it should ever return.

The sound of crackling stones splintered the air as Raven landed at the side of one of her castle's towers, her curved claws clasping onto the solid rock. She growled and shook her head, then gave her sharp rows of teeth a lick. The moose kill will only last her a couple of hours. In no time at all she will have to go in search for a meal again.

'The night is still young...' The black dragon thought. ' The castle's territory is surely safe and time is in my talons, I mustn't wade around here to grow bored and weak.' Raven tilted her sharp blue eyes to the dark horizon. Thinking of how to exercise her mind and physical being without truly putting her castle at risk. Beyond The Black Castle's territory, the land was mostly empty with rocky cliffs, churning beaches, and boulder littered hills. So the nearest human civilization would be a town or small village. Hardly a threat to Raven at all...but, possibly good exercise...

Raven chuckled darkly at the thought of destroying a village full of pethetic, weak humans. Burning their wooded roofs with fire fresh from her throat and snapping a healthy farmer into her jaws. She lashed her lizard-like tail at the thought and soon became thrilled of the destructive act. 'And who knows,' Raven thought, turning her head and looking north with a deadly smile in her eyes. 'Maybe in a way, those small town are a threat. Hmm, I could be doing myself a favor.'

The black empress snarled and turned her body along the tower to angle herself to lift off. Her wings lifted into the air and Raven bunched her legs ready to leap. With a sharp snap of the jaws, Raven pushed off of the castle and into the air once more. She bared her teeth and tilted her body towards the northern direction of the land, on in search for an easy human civilization to tear apart. Just as she did to her own kingdom centuries ago...

Re: Guardian Dragons

Oh, I really hope I'm posting this correctly...

Anyway, I'm new to this site (not to roleplaying, just this site specifically), and I've been looking for a good roleplay to join, and this one looks really good. Unfortunately, if i were to join now I'd get kicked out in three weeks or so, because I'll be away the last two weeks of August. If I were to post character before then, would it be OK to wait until September before I start posting? (that is, if my character is approved). Alternatively, I could just use this as a bookmark and wait until September to post my bio. Actually, that might be easier.

Then again, there will definitely be some occasions in the future when I'm away for at least a week (ten days summer next year, for example, when I definitely wouldn't be able to post).

Would you recommend not joining or would it still be OK?

basically, I'm looking around for a thread to join and I like the look of this one but it might not be a good idea for me to go for this one. Just thought I'd ask.

Re: Guardian Dragons

I submitted a character...Hope I did everything correctly. If you do accept, I will immediately start posting. :)

Re: Guardian Dragons

Aargh! My computer is giving me problems! Every time I try to post a comment, the whole computer suddenly goes blank. Then a tab pops up reading "recovering page" and poof! My comment is gone. I'll still be trying to post, but I won't be surprised if it does it again. This computer gots some viruses.

Hint to all computer players, never get a mini laptop or notebook. They're very slow and screw up! Mine is so slow, I've named it Lightning.

Re: Guardian Dragons

Chloe- Not really, just any way you want your dragon to begin with.

Few! I thought I lost you guys there.

Re: Guardian Dragons

@StrangerDanger-I don't mind at all :D I'll take it as a compliment.

@Nemo- How do you want this to start? Anything specific?

Re: Guardian Dragons

I'm here too! And I finally submitted a character. Is it just me or does this forum forget all of the bbcode you type in if you go back and make an edit. @_@ I'm sure I'll want to go back and edit something later, but this is pretty much what I'm going for in terms of story/character. Let me know if I need to change anything!

And Chloe, I borrowed pretty heavily from how you set up your character sheet. Hope you don't mind. XD

Looking forward to rping with all of you. =)

Re: Guardian Dragons

Im still here! :D
I'm about to head to work but I'll be back on tomorrow to post.

Re: Guardian Dragons

Okay, *pant* *pant* my internet has pulled back up and thankfully it didn't last as long as I thought. :)

Erm, I notice there isn't a whole lot of response in OOC. I hope players haven't ditched. Well, incase you haven't, we can finally begin the RP.

Re: Guardian Dragons

WARNING! I may not be on for maybe a week. My internet will be shut down for a few days and won't be back on untill it pulls up again. Please don't begin to roleplay without me, I'll be back on as SOON as I can.

Re: Guardian Dragons

Whoo! I put up my dragon character finally! Grr, I didn't put pictures in the descriptions. I'm gonna get the hang of that some other time...

Re: Guardian Dragons

Sorry I haven't been posting on OOC guys. Its been a HECKTIK week and I couldn't get a break! I haven't put in my character dragon yet because I was hoping to put some pictures into its description and stuff, but if it turns out I can't I'll go ahead and post it up. Sorry for keeping you waiting!

PS: StrangerDanger, As long as your not absent for a week or over it's fine. :)

Re: Guardian Dragons

This RP looks amazing, but I think I'll have trouble posting daily, at times. I'm not very busy right now so it won't be a problem to start off, but it might be later on. Would that be okay?

Re: Guardian Dragons

Thank you so much! I wanted to add a little to the forest part, but I was so excited so enter him! To make things better, I have always wanted to play a character named Echo. I'm curious to see how the story pans out :)

Re: Guardian Dragons

I'm very impressed with your character introduction, Cloe. Beautiful background story, it has vision and a unique tale. The dragon himself is interresting, not too many dragons have mane. Good work!

Re: Guardian Dragons

Yeah, I don't care for anime pics for this particular RP. I didn't even know there were anime dragon pictures. Well, yeah realistic or art is what I prefer. Sorry I haven't put my character up yet. I'll have to post it up tomorrow. I'm still brain storming. :)

Re: Guardian Dragons

Are you limiting pictures? I know some people don't like anime pictures

Re: Guardian Dragons

For each player, please comment atleast once everyday or tell me ahead of time if you are unable to get on the computer a day or two. If a player can't follow this, I'll have to boot their character out of the RP. :/
