Azalea finds a genie lamp in her grandmother's attic when she was cleaning out her grandmother's home after she passed away. At first she doesn't seem to understand what was going on and freaks out about everything. But what she didn't know was that the genie granted her grandmother wishes in the past and she never got to the point to get rid of the lamp so someone else could use it. That was almost sixty years ago.

But what happens when Azalea begins to fall in love with her genie? Will she be able to find a way to set her genie free or would she have to go through her entire life wondering about what would have been if she hadn't?

It's been a week since Grandma Azalea had passed away, leaving Azalea alone in the three bedroom home. Every sound that was made echoed throughout the home, causing her to realize how alone she truly was. Nobody in her family was alive but herself and anyone she ever cared about betrayed her or passed away. Because of this she was now truly alone in this world and she never wanted to become close to anyone ever again. Azalea feels that she is cursed. She feels that if she got close to anyone, something horrible would happen causing her to once again be hurt and she definitely never wanted to feel hurt like this again. Azalea would much rather be left alone in the dark than deal with this all over again.

The petite woman found herself upstairs in the attic going through all of her grandmother's antiques she found throughout her long life. Many of them she chose to keep to decorate the home with. Azalea had always been interested in antiques because she loves the old fashioned things and the way they look. They also carry a long history with each and every different item. It just makes her wonder how many people have owned them before she ended up with it, what kind of lives they lived, what the item was used for, etc. As she was going through the items, she hummed to herself, one of the songs her grandmother used to sing to her as a small child to get her to sleep.

Almost two hours into the boxes in the attic, she found herself a gorgeous golden lamp with intricate swirls on the base of it, ending at the spout. Finding that the lamp had been very dusty, she began to rub it, hoping to be able to see the shiny golden surface in all of its glory. Though before she was able to think anything more about it, she noticed a trail of smoke beginning to flood the room out of the lamp. The smoke was blue in color and clearly distracting Azalea from everything else in the world.

The woman's curiosity peaked whenever she then started to noticed a human form shaping within the smoke. Though it wasn't until the smoke was gone from sight that she noticed there was now a man standing there, as if coming out of nowhere. Her heart began beating, finding that she was now a bit scared at everything that was going on. Some strange man now stood in her attic, although he was definitely one of the most attractive men she had ever seen in her life, she had no idea what to think about why he was there and where the hell he came from. Of course the imaginative side to her wanted to believe he came out of the lamp, but genies weren't real, not even in the slightest...were they?

It had been so long since anyone had set foot in the woman Bryson had once known as Azalea's attic that he hardly even glanced out the sides of the lamp. He spent most of his days reading books he had picked up during his times outside the lamp, improving his muscle mass, or watching the mice outside his little home scamper about the attic floor through tears in the box the lamp was stored in. It was a strange thing, the lamp. He had found that, if he wanted, the walls would turn transparent, but only for him. No one could see in. It was almost like a mirror in a police interrogation room. So, when this new young woman picked up the lamp and attempted to clean it, it took him by surprise. The genie was in the bedroom reading Oliver Twist for the thousandth time when all of a sudden his home began to shake. He ran back out to the living room to pear through the walls and all he saw was a hand rubbing across the "window". "Oh boy." He muttered to himself as he crossed his arms over his chest and waited to be transported outside.

Bryson kept his eyes and mouth shut until he was certain that all of the annoying blue smoke had gone away. Was it really necessary? That was something he would have to ask whoever had created genies. Another thing was why did he have to wear that ridiculous outfit? Baggy blue pants that resembled gauchos, a green half shirt that looked more like a woman's bando, and a thin vest matching the color of the pants does not a genie make.

After the smoke had faded, he looked at the young lady in front of him, he reminded her so much of the lady who had rubbed his bottle last. She looked frightened. He realized he still had his arms crossed and probably looked a bit intimidating so he relaxed his stature. "You've woken the Genie in the Bottle. You get three wishes. Pick wisely. Don't waste them. And please, for the love of God, watch your wording." He gave his speech as he did to everyone who "woke" him up, emphasizing the last part with vacant hope that she would be different and make smarter wishes. Sighing, Bryson continued, now listing all the rules. "I cannot bring back the dead, I cannot make someone fall in or out of love, you may not wish for more wishes, and if you wish for money you will have to pay taxes on it." He grinned a dry smile at his attempt at a joke but when she just stood there with vacant eyes still staring at her, he rubbed the back of his neck, "It's fine, no one ever laughs at that joke. So, what can I do you for?"

Azalea stood there, just staring at the male before her as she listened to his words. This can't be real, this has got to be some sort of prank, some sort of joke. At his last words she gave a soft smirk and finally spoke up. "So, you're really a genie?" she questioned with an unbelieving tone.

The red head felt completely insane. But as she stood there it began to make sense. She could remember the couple pictures her grandmother showed her when she was around her age and in one way or another the man standing before him were in them. How else would he still look the exact same way almost sixty years later? But still, she wasn't going to give in too easily. For all she knew he could still be someone else, someone who just looked like the Bryson guy her grandmother used to talk about. But if Grandma Azalea did have a genie, why wouldn't she have told her about it? The female sighed as all these questions stirred through her mind as she waited for the male's answer.

She nervously slid her hands into her back pockets and shifted half her weight onto her left leg as she bent her right knee a bit and tilted her head as she listened to the "genie", hoping that his answer would explain a bit more in order for her to make her true decision on if she could truly believe him or if she had to call the cops.

Though as she finally took note on the clothing he was wearing, she couldn't help but to just let out a soft chuckle in the middle of him speaking. His clothes were tacky, he looked like a belly dancer and that's all that seemed to pop into her head at that moment. "I'm sorry...it's just...your clothes man..." she stated, hoping that she hadn't hurt his feeling by her remark, but honestly it was the truth. She thought his clothes were hideous!

Bryson let out an exaggerated sigh. "Believe me, I know. It's part of the rules though. When the genie is first woken and emerges from the lamp, he must be wearing the designated genie uniform." His voice was almost monotone as he quoted word for word the rule he had come to know after being trapped inside the lamp. "However!" He perked up and threw a finger in the air. "After the genie has appeared and told the wisher the wishing rules, he may change outfits." It was really such a dumb rule that Bryson couldn't help but roll his eyes at it. The genie snapped his fingers and he was suddenly wearing dark grey jeans and a navy t-shirt.

Looking down at his outfit, Bryson figured he had done pretty well addressing the style of the time when all he had to go off of was what the girl was wearing. Bell bottom jeans didn't seem to still be in style so he went with something a bit more slimming. As his eyes combed the girl in front of him once more, he noticed that she was incredibly beautiful and resembled the Azalea he had known almost 60 years ago so this of course couldn't have been her. Perhaps a relative...

A small smirk formed on the corned of Bryson's mouth as he held out his hand, "Hey, I'm Bryson. I know this all probably looks unbelievable, but it is real. Also, I can't go back inside the lamp until you make your wishes so... Not that I'm really dying to go back, so, I guess take your time!" There was no burning desire for him to return to his lamp so if the girl took days to decide on what she wanted to wish for then great! It would give him some time to explore the house again and see what had changed. Maybe she'd even let him explore the town like Azalea had.

Azalea honestly couldn't truly believe him until he magically changed into different clothing at the snap of a finger. At this point, the mere physics of this world began to concave on her. The physics were wrong, just point blank wrong. When he was in normal clothing, she smiled, finding that he was even more attractive when he didn't look like a male belly dancer.

Though the very second he stated his named, her eyes widened as she placed her hand into his and shook it. "I'm Azalea," she introduced before retrieving her hand back to her side. After reaching for one of the photos she had found earlier in the attic she stepped over to him and handed him the photo. "This woman is my grandmother, is this you?" she questioned, pointing to the man who looked exactly like him in the photo next to her grandmother. She couldn't believe her grandmother had a genie. She wondered what she wished for, if what she wished for came true the way she was actually wanting it or if she happened to word things wrong.

If it were Bryson in the photo, she wondered if she should tell him about Azalea's passing. The two of them seemed to be close, but part of her wondered if it would be out of place to do so. So she figured she would only tell him if she found a time when she had to and there was no reason at hiding it.

Azalea. This girl resembled the one he had known by that name many years ago but there was no way they could be the same person, it had been too long. She certainly was as beautiful, if not even more so. Bryson took a few steps forward and peered at the picture the girl was showing him. It was of he and the other woman named Azalea he had known.

"Ooooh, grandmother. That makes sense." He revealed out loud, "I knew you two looked similar. I figured you had to be a relative. Yeah, that's me though. See?" He goofily copied what his pose had been in the picture. After a few seconds he relaxed out of the pose and ran his fingers through his hair, a habit he performed much too often. "Damn, that has to have been...what? 60 years ago?" Bryson counted the years on his fingers before letting out an impressed sigh. He couldn't lie, he still looked pretty good to be so old.

No one had been up in the attic for so long and now the appearance of this granddaughter. In the back of his mind, he knew that something must have happened but he pushed that feeling away not even wanting to humor it. The other Azalea and he had been pretty close and there was a story behind their friendship, but Bryson thought it immature to dump such an emotional load on someone he'd just met. Especially when she was going to be stressing over her wishes pretty soon.

I appeared that his Azalea had never mentioned to her family a word of Bryson which, after he thought about it for a second, made absolute sense. People usually run off and tell their friends and family that they've woken a genie and made wishes, unless those wishes go wrong.

After her question was answered, she chuckled a bit when he did the same pose he was doing in the photograph. She set the photo back down in the box she retrieved it from and began making her way over towards the door to the attic, "I know this sounds like a stupid question, but um, do you eat?" she questioned as she continued down the stairs and into the kitchen. Azalea knew she was definitely hungry and didn't want to eat in front of him if he was as well. With this being the first time she had ever encountered a genie, she had no idea what it was that they could or couldn't do, obviously.

Azalea opened the refrigerator door and grabbed herself a can of soda before popping it open and taking a sip. She then sat it down on the counter and began looking for something she could eat. At that moment she began remembering all the days her and her grandmother spent their days baking and just talking to each other all day. Those were the days she treasured the most with her grandmother.

It was definitely going to be strange living in this huge house alone when she was so used to having her grandmother with her. Azalea just hoped she would start feeling a bunch of anxiety because of the sudden change in her life.

The genie chuckled at her question. It was a valid one since he'd often wondered if werewolves and vampires ate human food. "Yeah, I do." He replied, hoping she had asked because she was going to feed him. Once hearing his reply, Azalea turned around and walked down the stairs into the rest of the house.

Bryson followed but took his time, taking in the surroundings that had changed so much over the past years. There were more pictures on the walls along the staircase and in each one he found the eyes of his old friend Azalea in a body of a much older woman. It made him sad because the two of them had been so close. Everyone gets old, though. Everyone except for him. There was another familiar face along the pictures, though. It was this younger Azalea that he could hear getting into the refrigerator downstairs. She was in almost all of the pictures with toothless grins, awkward middle school ages, and driving for what looked to be the first time. A small smile turned the corner of Bryson's mouth up. He loved seeing people's past and trying to imagine what that must have been like. He'd spent almost 3 times what his life span should have been in a lamp.

After he looked over all the pictures and finally made it down into the kitchen, he saw Azalea sitting on the counter. He hobbled over to what he had known to be a pantry and opened it, finding little food there. "So, what do you have to eat? I'm starving." He shut the pantry door and went to lean against the counter the girl was sitting on.

"Well, I can't promise that there is a huge variety, but feel free to help yourself. I've got to go shopping today anyway," she responded before glancing over at the male, leaning against the counter beside her. Part of her wanted to run her fingers through his hair, it just looked so soft and it just enticed her. But she decided it would be best just to keep her hands to herself, at least for right now. Azalea needed to get to know him before she attempted to do things like that.

Azalea ran her fingers through her red ponytail as she asked this question, "So um, how long have you been a genie?" she questioned, asking the words she never thought would ever come out of her mouth and be as serious as she was now.

Everything about this situation was a bit strange but over time she would get used to it. She just had no idea what to wish for. Though she wasn't going to stress about it too much, once she comes to the time where she wants to wish, she would. But the main thing she wanted right now was to see her grandmother again, but she knew that was never going to happen. She wasn't able to wish for bringing the dead back to life...which honestly sucked in her situation.

Bryson's eyes widened, excited at the thought of leaving the house. "Can I go with you?!" Realizing how childish that sounded, he cleared his throat and rubbed the back of his neck, "I mean... If you need help, I wouldn't mind going and checking out the grocery store..." He hopped off the counter and walked over to the fridge. Opening the door, he saw a can that looked identical to the one Azalea was drinking. Coke was on the side of it and it reminded him of something called Coca Cola that he had encountered the last time he was out of the lamp except that had been in a bottle.

He grabbed the can and returned to the counter, eyeing the can, unsure of how to open it. Bryson ran his fingers over the tab that was on the top of the can and figured that was how to open it.

The genie was still puzzling over it when Azalea asked her question. He chuckled a bit before hesitantly answering, not wanting to freak her out by how old he was. "262 years, give or take a few months." He understood her interest, but the details of his becoming a genie was not something he was eager to share as it made him hate himself a little more each time he told the story.

"Can I go with you?!" Azalea couldn't help but to let out a soft chuckle after noticing how excited he was about the little outing, it kind of reminded her of the kids she used to tend to in the nursery she used to volunteer in as a teenager. But in response she just nodded her head at his question as she heard him add, "I mean... If you need help, I wouldn't mind going and checking out the grocery store..."

As she started to answer the question she watched as he hopped off the counter and went to the refrigerator and grabbed a can of Coke. "Of course you can come," she responded with a soft smile.

The red head watched as he was having a hard time figuring out how to open the can and she just reached for it politely and accidentally brushed against his hand as she brought the can into her own hands. Azalea pulled the tab up and opened the can for him before handing it back over with a polite smile, "There ya go," she stated to him.

262 years, give or take a few months," she heard him respond to her question. "Wow, seems very lonely," she stated with a saddened tone before pulling her purse over her shoulder and began stepping out of the kitchen to leave. "Are you still coming?" she questioned as she stepped out the front door and unlocked her impala that was sitting in the driveway.

Bryson watched with curiosity as she simply flicked the tab on top of the can up and it created a small whole and a puff noise. "Interesting." He muttered under his breath.

"Are you still coming?"

Grabbing the can from off the counter, he followed Azalea out of the house and watched as she got into a strange contraption that slightly resembled the automobiles he had seen. This one was much smaller; much sleeker. He went to the passenger side and opened the door, sliding into the seat next to her. Intrigued, he let his eyes wander the inside of the car, taking in all of the details. He had read about such things, however experiencing them first hand was much different.

The genie lifted the can to his lips and allowed a bit to trickle into his mouth. "Ahhh," He sighed, licking his lips. "[color=#5fC401]"Coca-Cola. I haven't had one of these in 60 years. It's still just as good." Bryson set the can down in a cup holder that lay to his left. Then he looked over at Azalea.

"So, have you decided on your first wish? I'm just asking because that is why I'm here." He turned his attention to outside of the window but continued to babble. "You could wish for.... You know, honestly, I don't know what I'd wish for if I was you. I've seen so many things go wrong, plus what more could you need? Actually, if I were you I'd probably wish to not be trapped inside of a lamp, never aging. Then again, if I were you I wouldn't be trapped inside a lamp." Bryson knew he was talking too much but he hadn't had someone to talk to in so long that he just couldn't help himself. When you're alone for decades, you either stay silent or talk to yourself, and since he was trying to air on the side of not being crazy, he decided to keep quiet most of the time. "Sorry, you can tell me to shut up. Sometimes when I get going I just can't stop."

Azalea just laughed a bit as he kept talking as she pulled out of the driveway and began on her way to the grocery store. Once he finally went silent she went to answer his question, "Not at the moment, no. Though if something comes up I'll be sure to let you know. But just for a heads up it might take a while because I've never been too keen on the whole wishing thing. Everything in my life is as it should be and quite frankly, I wouldn't mind the company. Especially right now," she stated as she stopped at a red light.

The red head reached over towards the radio and turned it on, but made sure it was low enough to where she would be able to hear Bryson if he were to say anything to her. But through the small bit of silence she sang along with the radio as if she were pretty much on stage. Singing had always been one of the many things she enjoyed doing, something she might even try to pursue a career in once she got over her slight stage fright.

Nodding at her comment, he made no attempt to reply. Bryson just turned his head to look out his window and listened to her sing. She had a nice voice; it matched her small frame. The trees seemed to just blur past him and he closed his eyes; really wanting to experience how fast they were going. The last automobile he had been in could only go 35 mph and, glancing over at the speedometer, they were now going 55. It was an interesting feeling, going that fast. Sure he could transport anywhere with a snap of his fingers, but it was nothing like this.

"You have a nice voice." He said absent mindedly, turning his head to face her. She was beautiful. He had noticed earlier, but this was the first chance he was getting to really look at her. She was just singing; and really singing, like sincerely getting into it, and it seemed to make her seven times more attractive.

Bryson shook his head, trying to get the thoughts out of his mind. No, you can't think things like that. He thought to himself.

Azalea smiled at his comment as she pulled into the store parking lot and parked her vehicle. "Thanks," she stated before climbing out and looking back at him once he was out the car too. She locked up as she spoke, "If you happen to see anything you want feel free to just put it in the buggy," she stated as she began making her way through the parking lot to the store entrance.

The red head still couldn't seem to gather her thoughts about the whole genie idea, though she knew she would get used to it eventually. Especially since he would be around for a while. Right now she couldn't think of anything to wish for because her mind was too boggled about her grandmother's death at the time. But as of right now, it would be alright. Like she said to him just moments before, when something comes up, she'd let him know.

"So, what was the stupidest wish you ever heard anyone wish for?" she questioned, trying to get a conversation started. Walking around in silence was really starting to get to her. When she had someone around, she needed to talk to them or she would feel nothing more than awkward. It was something that always bothered her while growing up.

Okay, great! And not that I can think of.

I'll get started on a CS! Is there anything particular you had in mind about the genie you wanted me to play around with? Like personality traits or something from his past?
