The sound of footsteps could be heard echoing through the corridors of the castle, though they were light and soft, they could still be heard. Marlow was making her way down from the large library that was housed in the castle, where she would spend most of her time doing what she loved. Today, though, she was going to take a few books down to her to her room. A nice comfortable place where she could lay on her bed and read to her hearts content, though recently things weren’t always very calm about the castle. She let out a soft sigh as she continued to walk, slowly. The young princess was reading a book as she walked, holding it with one hand while the other held a small stack of books against her hip.

She stopped when she found herself turning around a corner, a window catching her attention with it’s wonderful view of the outside. It was a lovely day in the kingdom, though it seemed like most days around the kingdom where like that. Beautiful sky, warm suns, what more could one want in the world than to live in peace. For young Marlow, the thing she wanted more was to learn. She placed the book down against her said and continued to look out the castle window, her eyes soon glancing upon the stable boy.

Though she wouldn’t admit it directly to him, but she found him rather a handsome fellow not very bright one yet it didn’t bother her in the least. From her interactions with him he was a very kind and optimistic. She couldn’t help but find it rather charming. He seemed a bit better than the suitors that showed up around the castle though.

They were men of all walks of life, but all of them had one thing in common that disgusted her. The only reason they were to come to the castle for this contest, was to marry one of the princesses, her and her sisters. Unlike them, who seemed rather happy for it, she wasn’t. How could she be? All these suitors wanted what to become royalty, to become a king.

Marlow knew she didn’t want to get married just for some man to become king, she wanted something like what she had read in books before. Something romantic and meaningful, nothing like what the contest would bring. A sigh escaped her lips and she stepped away from the window, continuing down the corridor. Perhaps today would be a wonderful day to go out and read among nature, or at least by the castle. With that in mind she slowly made her way down the corridors and finally to the large doors of the castle, walking out.

The young princess took in a deep breath, the smells eloped in the fresh air was amazing and utterly calming. After getting a good breath of fresh air she found a spot next to the castle, sitting down beside it as she set her books down before her. She grabbed the one she was reading before, and continued where she had left off.

(Sorry if it isn't that good, I'm rather upset after get death treats from my sis's boyfriend, but apparently I was in the wrong.)

Marlow was too absorbed in her reading to notice the people walking by or in and out of the castle. It was how it usually was for her, so deeply fixated on reading that the world around her always seemed to disappear. Her eyes went over line after line in the book, flipping to the next page only minutes after the last sentence was read. Soon, though, he attention was on the tall man that had walked up to the castle. He was likely to had been there for her father. Something about him caused a chill to go down her back, she needed a better place to sit.

There was no better place to do so than the stable, besides, perhaps she could chat with Henry while he worked. If he didn’t very well mind. With that thought in mind she stood up from her place against the castle, taking her book with her as she walked down to the stable. When she had got there, Henry was hard at work with the horses, treating them with care as he always did. She smiled softly and set her books down on a stool close by before wondering over to the other side of the horse he was caring for. “Good morning,” she said to him, trying to look over the other side of the horse.

Marlow’s eyebrow rose curiously as she watched him start to walk away to fetch her horse, though she didn’t ask him to do so in the first place. Quickly as she could she grabbed onto the back of the stable boy’s shirt, trying to get him to stop. “Wait, Henry!” she shouted towards him, not harshly though, “I didn’t come to get my horse, I rather came to read to be honest with you. Though I thought perhaps I could just stay around and talk to you, but if you are busy I could go.”

The princess softly smiled as she stood there quietly, playing with the sides of her dress as she did. It wasn’t too normal for her to choose to talk to someone rather than read, but there was always a time to be reading. Books weren’t capable to get up and leave, people were, though, able to get up and leave as they wished. She wanted to get to know Henry some more. He had been there for 4 years but they never quite did much talking other than her telling him to get her horse.

The horse trotted along the road, entering the keep as the wind carried a bit of the early morning chill. It's rider, wearing his hard leathers, was laden with more than a few weapons and had even more still stowed in packs on his horse. The ride had been a long one and he hadn't taken many breaks causing his horse to near exhaustion yet it's rider knew the hardy steed could handle to ride. Markus brought the horse to a halt as he entered the courtyard of the massive citadel like castle that was the home to the ailing king and his six daughters. Many knew of the contest for the hand of his daughters and his kingdom. Countless suitors arrived, one in particular was who Markus came here after. He first needed to stable his horse before finding his quarry. He trotted to the stables to find the stable boy speaking to a beautiful young girl. Dark brown locks tumbled down her back, her ivory skin pristine and without blemish. Obviously royalty judging by her cleanliness. She had the look of a girl who never worked a day in her life, the mark of one born to privilege. Markus rode up to the pair before dismounting and giving her a respectful nod.

"Pardon, you are a princess of this keep are you not? I am from Markarf. I come seeking my lord Hamnet Romano, the Marques."

The strong, warrior said. His deep voice, obviously weary from the long ride yet with a strength behind his words that told those who heard it that he would not rest until he found who he was sent here to find.

Hemnet thought for a moment, this man seemed so fimiler yet he couldn't place his face. He said he was the generel of The King's Army, which for all he knew could have been it. Like many noblemen of his day Hamnet did fight for the King in severel conflicts that crossed his path, but nothing in the past five years, not since Sybbyl's death.
"Pardon sir but how long have you been in your current posistion?" he asked trying to puzzle it all togather.

Henry turned around feeling a tug on his shirt, "I just thought" he started but shook his head. "Sorry I'm glade for the company." he smiled and started to head back to the mare he had been working on when a man came in.

"I am from Markarf. I come seeking my lord Hamnet Romano, the Marques." the man said. Henry thought for a momant not sure which of the men who came in today if any were the Marques. "THe only men who came in here today went to the courtyard." he said directing him to the rigth place.

Maximilian made his way outside, and looked out as he sow his daughters with two men. He knew them both of course one was Krayt of course and the other the Marques.

Krios turned his head to eye the direction the stable boy pointed at before turning back to him.

"My thanks."

He said as he reached into his coin purse and fished out two gold coins.

"My horse has had a long journey. She could use some tending to."

He said as he handed the smaller, blonde man the coins. Markus reached into his pouch and pulled out a third coin and handed it to the stable boy as well.

"For your trouble."

With that he turned to the princess and gave her a respectful nod.

"Milady."

He said in goodbye before taking his leave. Markus began his walk away from the stables and down the path outlined for him by the stable boy. He walked along the well paved cobblestone path, taking in the sight of the massive castle built on the edge of a waterfall. It was really quite spectacular but Markus had a specific reason for coming here this day and taking in the view wasn't it. He made his way along the path only passing a few servants and handmaidens who were careful to keep out of the warriors way as he walked. Markus, coming from a working class, always gave those of a low social standing their due respect for he knew all to well what it was like to go to bed hungry. To not be born with a silver spoon in your mouth. He nodded and greeted those briefly who he crossed as he made his way to the courtyard. Reaching the edges of the large, splendid garden that was the courtyard he was forced to stop and marvel at the sight. Meticulously tended flowers, trees and bushes called the courtyard home giving it an almost magical quality to it. Rare breeds of birds found no where else but the farthest reaches of the globe were here, making their homes in the perches of the tallest trees. Fruit, more valuable than the homes most servant folk live in hung from the some of the trees appetizingly. Through the trees and streaming rays of sunlight Markus spotted his friend across the way. He was speaking with a wicked looking man that epitomized something from a nightmare. Beside the Marques and the Death Knight stood a ravishing young woman with golden hair and eyes a peculiar yet captivating shade of greyish green. She had the air of regality to her. "Another of the Kings daughters no doubt." He thought to himself within the confines of his own mind. Turning his attention back to Hemnet and the Dark Knight, Markus' natural skepticism took hold and instantly saw the man as a threat. He slowly made his way toward the pair, careful to keep at the man's back. He approached from the rear, stopping a few paces from the two and called out to Hemnet with his hand on one of the hand axes hanging from his belt.

"Romano..."

He said with a calm smile yet his fierce gaze rested on the knight speaking to his best friend.

Marlow returned the smile to Henry, she was rather glad he didn’t mind her company, the girl certainly had hoped he wouldn’t. She followed Henry over to the horse he’d been working on before till a voice had caught her attention. With a quick turn of her head she looked over to the man, he seemed to be looking for someone, rather than being here as a suitor.

‘Marques?’ she thought to herself for a moment. The named seemed familiar but she hadn’t seen anyone today other than Henry and the tall man that had walk up to the castle earlier. Before she could answer the man’s question, it seemed the stable boy had already done so. Marlow didn’t very well mind as she didn’t know where they were in the first place. She drew in a breath of air and held it in for only a moment, standing there silent.

“Sir,” she said back to him, giving a slight nod of her head in return before watching him leave. The young princess than turned to face Henry.

“You should probably get to work, I’ll watch from over here,” Marlow said as she looked for a stool near by, spotting one in the corner of the stall. She’d walked over to it and picked it up. She soon placed it where she wanted to sit and sat down, crossing one leg over the other.

Hamnet was silent for a long time; his gaze was trapped at the King. It was strange how a man such as him, who was so physically fit, could look so altered and sickly. He hardly looked like the man Hamnet had fought for ten years ago. Ten years was a long time, perhaps it always happened when one grows older? Then again Hamnet has already faced something ten times worse than any battle scare or sickness, losing the love of his life.

After he returned from war he learned of injustices across the kingdom from Willowshire, to Constance, Falconhem and Greensburg the lower class were losing land and starving to death, and Hamnet would not have it. He once confronted the king about this, but didn’t get very far this was his chance to speak to him, he was right there in his eye sight, and he could stop their pain.

“Markus?” he turned hearing his friend’s voice. “What, are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be
” he paused and remembered the children. “What happened, did he?” Hamnet asked quickly.

Henry smiled, “As you wish” he said and took the mare the man left into a new stall trying not to look too much at Marlow, but unable to help himself.
“What...” he paused, “Why dose a person read those books of yours? Isn’t the bible good enough?” He asked.

Marlow shrugged her shoulders and placed her hands down onto her lap. She gazed down and fiddled with her fingers, it never seemed that anyone understood why she read so much, but it's what she enjoyed doing the most. The girl wasn't of many talents as some of her sisters, reading was all she really liked.

"It's what I like to do, I like learning new things and reading of fantastic places," she paused and looked up towards him as he worked.

"You probably don't understand but it's ok, I figure that there isn't a lot I people who would," she gave him a tender smile that seemed to fade rather quickly. The young princess looked off into the distance, wondering what the world was like beyond the kindom. Perhaps she'd meddle around in some knights' heads later, surely they've seen a lot in their lives so far.

Marlow’s gave soon turned back towards the stable boy, her eyebrow raised a bit in confusion before her telepathy picked up on what his mind was trying to say but his mouth wouldn’t let out. A redness came forming onto her cheeks, not of embarrassment, but more of a delighted happy feeling. There wasn’t any doubt on what he wanted, he wanted her to teach him to read. Though she’d never done any teaching herself, there must have been a simple and easy way to do so. Marlow would have to stick with traditional ways of teaching the stable boy.

She stood up from the stool she had been sitting on and walked over to Henry’s side, looking up at him with a wide happy smile. “So, just to make it clear,” she cleared her throat a bit, “are you asking if I could
teach you how to read, Henry?” Her sky blue eyes almost seemed to sparkle and shine as she asked him the question.

“You know Henry,” she said in a soft sincere tone of voice, “you don’t necessarily have to be good at something to be able to learn it, you just need to have to passion to want to do it
to want and learn to read, you know?” Marlow looked up at the tall stable boy, making sure to make eye contact with him as she smiled. Her hands slowly made their way onto the mare he was working on, gently and tenderly petting at the horse’s neck. The stable boy always did such a marvelous job taking care of the horses.

“Besides, I’m sure I can be a good enough teacher to help you learn as best you can, we’ll even take it slow and start with the basics. It’s not as hard as it probably seems, you’ll have it down in no time.” The young princess placed her head against the shoulder of the mare and let out a soft sigh, one of her hands still petting at the beautiful creature.

Maximilian sighed lessening to the warlord, “I’ve had fears that this would happen.” He said meekly, “But I fear it is not another Kingdom, I would seem my Brother-in-law has at last found the forces he needs to take back Ivory Skies.” He shook his head and coughed once more, then asked him. “How much do you need?” he said reaching into his pockets for his change purse.

Hamnet walked to a large weeping willow that stood at the very edge of the lavish courtyard. He knelt down and pulled a small golden ring with a purple gem set in the middle. It had been his mother’s ring the last thing he had to remember her by, and when he went off to war seven years ago he had given it to his sweetheart to hold till he returned.

Rumors of his death spread to her, and she married Constance. Now Hamnet doesn’t know the exact details, but one thing he is certain of she thought he was dead.
”You could have stayed here in the first place, instead of following your King to the Holy land which you wouldn’t have if you even cared about these precious people, but you didn’t you choice war, you choice Glory.”

“and I will never make that mistake again,” he uttered trying to hold back the tears. He didn’t want to be here, truthfully but he had to The King is dying and he had to convince the man to save the people for the Cruelty of some of the nobles. Things were not as good in Ivory Skies as they seemed, as he looked over at the princesses he wondered do they know anything beyond these walls?

“I can’t keep fight this without you Sybbyl.” He remembered holding his love as she died in his arms.
”Oh I’d love to keep arguing with you but we haven’t got the time, You promise me you keep fighting.”
He kissed the ring gently, remembering her embrace. “Good bye my love” he said softly.

Henri smiled at her, “I suppose your right princess.” And burst out a small chuckle. “I really do need to finish up here though” and started heading back to the mare once more to brush her. He wanted to say so more, but it was no use anything he said would be a mistake.

Marlow raised her eyebrow just a bit as she picked up her head from off the horse and looked over towards Henry. She wasn’t sure on what his chuckle was for, the girl was definitely sure she hadn’t said anything funny to cause a reaction like that. The young princess watched as he walked to the mare, beginning to brush her once more. In that moment she wasn’t too sure if she should stay around or let him get back to his work, she didn’t want him to get behind in what he was doing.

“I’m not distracting you, am it?” she asked the stable boy curiously. Marlow wanted to know what he was thinking, but she didn’t really want to use her telepathy on the boy. He was too nice and kind for her to want to do that, though she’d done it once already, but only because she wasn’t sure what he was trying to say at that moment. While she waited for his answer, she grabbed a brush and as Henry did she began to brush the mare as well.

“Well, that’s good to hear,” she said, a small tender smile forming on her face, “what are you to do now after you've gotten the horse done?” Marlow was oddly curious on what all he did, other than tend to the horses that was. She walked over to him and helped to put the supplies back, if she were to be there she might as well be of some use. Just because the young girl was a princess didn't mean she had to stand around and do nothing, nothing was boring.

It didn't need to take a genius or a telepathic to sense his odd uncomfortable sense when speaking to anything other than a horse. Sure it was probably odd to only be comfortable with speaking to an animal, you didn't much need to worry about what they thought about you, but he need some sort of social contact other than with the horses that were in the stables.

Marlow couldn’t help but to smile up at him. It didn't take her more than a couple of seconds to know what he was trying to hint at. “Well, I haven’t had the chance to get anything to eat this morning,” she paused for a moment and fiddled with her fingers, “I would most enjoy going to eat with you, Henry.”

Marlow looked around at the chaos the seemed to be forming outside. People running around as if something horrible had happened, though from the sounds of screams and panic it seemed that way in the first place. The young princess was worried, worried about what was happening and why she didn't know what was happened. She bit at her bottom lip and looked over to Henry, worry filling in her eyes as she desperately looked back out, trying to scan the minds of the people out there. It was no use though, the only thing useful she'd gotten out of the whole mix up thoughts in people's heads was 'assassination'. But of who? Her heart began to sink down, as if somehow she knew who this 'assassination' was done on, but she didn't want to believe it. The girl grabbed onto the sides of her head and shook it around lightly, trying to get the thoughts out of her mid. There was no way someone would just kill her father right? What had he done to deserve something like this? To her he'd always been such a kind ruler, not one to get many enemies inside the kingdom, though outside was more than likely a different story.

"Will you escort me to the castle please?" she asked the stable boy kindly. There wasn't any way she was going to head out on her own in this chaos, not right now. Too many chances of getting injured if knocked down on accident by someone not paying enough attention.

"Thank you, Henry," she said to the stable boy before she wrapped her arm around his own, keeping herself close to his larger size just encase. The panic was still continuing around, everyone running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Not knowing what to do, where to go, or very well what was going to happen to the kingdom. This all confused the girl greatly, she wanted to know so bad what happened and why everyone was acting as they were. Yet, no matter how much she tried, no one's mind what clear enough for her to use her telepathy on to where she'd be able to understand. She let out a soft groan to herself, they needed to get the the castle and quick.

Marlow watched as the boy parted from her and went about to fetch her horse, paisley(it didn't have a name till now XD). She looked up at the him after he'd mounted the horse, offering his hand down to her to help her upon it. With no hesitation she grabbed onto the boy's hand as he helped her up onto the horse, her arms soon wrapping around his torso to keep herself safe and from falling off. "Ok, let's go," she said softly, her face resting upon his back.

Henry nodded trying to hold himself, she was seated so close to him closer then she has ever been before. The smell of her perfume, he nodded quickly trying to think clearly. without uttering a single he told the horse to head out, without realizing it of course. It was his gift to be able to so such strange things, but to him it just seemed normal. Ordinary peasants weren't usually the once who were given any extra ordinary powers, that was a gift typically reserved for nobles and such. Although at times as rare as it was a peasant was granted with such strange powers, those people were typically taken from their family at a young age and placed in houses of worship as "gifts from God".

"Here we are your highness" he said arriving at the castle, and leaping of the horse to help her down just like he always did after she rode. "I hope all is well." he prayed softly.

((Oh I know, I just didn't want you to think I had forgotten XP))

As they rode swiftly towards the castle the young princess closed her eyes for a moment, taking in the wind that rush by due to the speed the horse was traveling at. Her arms locked himself around his waist just a little bit tighter, a bit afraid of falling from this high and at this speed. Once the young girl opened her eyes it seemed they had already made it to their destination, the castle, where she hoped nothing had gone wrong. "Thank you, Henry," she said as she leaned over to take a hold of his shoulders, helping her down as usual. Her eyes glanced over towards the castle then slowly back over to the young man, who was always so kind.

"Wait for me here, ok?" she said with a soft smile before taking off through the large doors of the castle. Marlow rushed down the long halls and corridors, traveling through doors and up stairs till she had finally reached her destination. What she saw when she arrived made her worst assumption a reality. Her eyes had fallen onto the corpse of her once alive father, the one man she looked up to in her life and loved dearly. Now, he was dead, but how? He seemed to very well when she had seen him before, always the one to try and keep up appearances and say he was feeling fine. The young princesses hand covered over her mouth, her breathing starting to get heavy and soon after tears be began to fall down from her eyes like tiny little streams. She looked over to her mother and sister, whom were locked in each others arms, her mother crying heavily.

Marlow could not stand being in this room anymore, not with the body of her father laying upon the floor like that. Quickly she ran from out of the castle, but once outside she collapsed onto her hand and knees, the tears from her eyes falling down onto the ground under her. What was going to happen to the kingdom now with out a king? Would her mother remarry? Or would it be up to her and her sisters to get married? If so they would need to hurry up.
