Kairosa: Land of Magic

Kairosa: Land of Magic

0 INK

As a student at the prestigious Kairosa Academy, you study your selected school under the tutelage of the wizard-lords. An ever evolving RP of wonder and exploration, both of Magic and the world surrounding you.

1,173 readers have visited Kairosa: Land of Magic since Kaede021 created it.

Introduction

The World of Kairosa

Kairosa is a land of intrigue and magical exploration; a land where the various magics of the world are pursued and explored freely, though often under the tutelage of more qualified Magi. Though possessing a Monarchy that watches over it's citizens and keeps them safe; there are many dangerous, contested regions of the continent of Kairosa that spur the interests of rogue mages and lords. You, however, are far removed from the actual combat, existing within Arcanis City's Kairosa Academy as a student...but only for now.

Kairosa: Land of Magic is a relatively nonrestrictive RP that encourages character growth and exploration. It will take place in stages, with your academy education being the first of many. The lore is yours to forge...to an extent. Your power level is restricted to the stage that the RP is in and may not surpass it without express GM permission which will only be granted for the sake of advancing the RP. Specific spells that fall under your class are yours to develop and create, though I do reserve the right to nerf them if I feel they are too powerful. In what ways you cast spells is also yours to determine, though I also ask that you don't RP as if you had an unlimited supply of Magic at your disposal.

The story will be created by the players as we progress and will be discussed in the "Story" thread in the OOC.

Future tech. is banned; act as if it were an Arthurian Era and world.

Stage Example:

Stage 1: Beginner- Limited Mana supply with rudimentary abilities. Everyone will advance beyond this stage following graduating from Kairosa Academy.

Stage 2: Journeyman- You will be introduced to the world, and the first RP Event* will take place, in which all players are expected to participate. Your abilities will be that of a new, but knowledgeable Magi.

Stage 3: Adept:

Stage 4: Expert

Stage 5 and beyond: Master

Participation in events is compulsory if I deem it so.

*Events will be GM orchestrated storylines that you may pursue with a group or by yourself.

Types of Wizardry

The land of Kairosa is filled with magic of many types and origins, a testament to the long lived history of the continent. Practioners specialize in one of the 6 schools: Elementai, the

Elementai- This school of Elementai deals with the creation and manipulation of the basic elements: Fire, Water, Charge, Air, and Earth. Practitioners of the school often specialize in a specific sub-sect, as to achieve mastery quicker.

Sub-Sects

-Storm Magi: Storm Magi take pride in their ability to utilize preexisting elements in the creation of weather calamities and abnormalities. While extremely powerful, this magic takes a toll on the user's physical being, leaving them often open to counter attack should the opposing magi survive the initial assualt.

-Thermo Magi: Thermo Magi are an unique Elementai sub-sect that possess the ability to manipulate the temperature of objects existing in the physical plane; cooling said objects rapidly or heating them up with equal intensity. These Magi often practice the arts of Pyro and Hydro kinesis, as to supply themselves with ready tools for their art.

-Amalgaman: Amalgaman are Magi that specialize in the manipulation and creation of various metals and are often applied as blacksmiths and shock troopers. All Amalgaman must possess an advanced understanding of the working of metal and a hardy body to successfully wield their various creations.

Animus- The school of Magic devoted to understanding and controlling--or rather, existing with symbiotically--the living world. Magi of this school are often a peaceful sort, many cherishing the life that has been given to them. However, few hesitate to utilize their powers when needed and are often a sight to behold when angered.

Sub-Sects

-Beastmastery: Beastmasters, also known as Beast Magi, wield control over living animals, often known for taming large creatures and keeping them as pets or war machines. Advanced practitioners may also learn to shape shift, taking the forms of the various creatures they summon. It should be noted that merely calling a beast and actually materializing one are two very different magics, the latter often only being utilized by masters of the art.

-Tree Magi: The term "Tree Magi" is technically incorrect, as the magic that exists under this art pertains to any plant life and not just trees. Magi that practice "Tree Magic" possess a great deal of influence over plant-life, and may wield them like puppets or call on them directly for aid. As noted with Beastmastery however, materializing plant-life is a difficult magic that is often beyond the ability of newer and younger Magi.

-Animancers: Animancers are a fairly unique sub-sect of Animus in that they wield incorporeal substances rather than existing creatures and other lifeforms. Where life is, Anima exists; the substance that is exuded from all beings of all kinds. The magic of Animancers is highly spiritual and quite mysterious, fully understood by only practitioners themselves and a few specialized scholars.

Necrosis-Necrosis, a darker magic, is the school pertaining to the manipulation of necrotic flesh and beings. While considered inherently evil by many, Necrosis is not necessarily practiced out of malicious intent; many seeking the revival magics that it promises for the sake of family and friends. Magi of this school can be thought to walk the thin grey line between light and darkness; morality and immorality.

Sub-Sects

-Sanguinia: Sanguinia, often abbrevaited as "Blood Magi", are a sub-sect of Necrosis practioners that specializes in the control of blood. While advanced practitioners may manipulate others blood, many are restricted to the control of their own; utilizing it often as a weapon or tool. Blood magic, along with many other magics of Necrosis, is considered taboo and is not taught actively at the Academy. However, use of Blood Magic is also often helpful in medicine, and so those interested in it's practices may be evaluated for training in it's baser techniques.

-Necro-Evocation: Magi that practice Necro-Evocation specialize in raising and controlling dead bodies, often en masse. While newer practitioners may only raise the bodies of animals and plantlife, advanced practitioners may wield small armies of shambling human corpses. Necro Magi are the target of much persecution and many, to few's surprise, resent other magic wielders for the discrimination they've faced.

-Lichdom: Those who practice Lichdom often seek to necrotize their own bodies in the hopes of attaining immortality and greater magical aptitude. Lichdom is a banned art, and practice of the art will lead to instantaneous expulsion from the Academy. It is to note that those who practice Lichdom must possess a phylactery for their soul-binding to suceed, and furthermore must protect the object for the entirety of their unlife. It is often practiced in tandem with Necro-Evocation.

Sanctus-Known as "Holy Magic", Sanctus is the school of Magic devoted to divine evocation and worship. Sanctus often relies on communal with the beyond and summoning it's beings. It is an extremely powerful school, but also one of the most difficult to master. Many practitioners spend years in the rudimentary stages, often never advancing beyond mediocrity.

Sub-Sects

-Divinus: Divinus is the art of summoning Holy Magics and weapons through divine communal. Magi practicing Divinus must live a life of purity and sanctity in order for their magic to work. As compared to Healing, Divinus is primarily an offensive art that focuses on the usage magical force and creating reliable defense.

-Healing: Considered the most philanthropic of magics, Healing is the art of curing disease and magically stitching wounds. While beginners may only be able to heal cuts and suppress common colds, advanced practitioners wield the ability to kill plagues and heal large numbers of people.

-Sanctum-Evocation: An extremely difficult school to master, Divine Evocation is the art of summoning divine beings to battle for noble purposes. Newer Magi to the art may be capable of summoning lesser angelic beings, while masters may be capable of summoning Archangels themselves to aid in combat. Those who practice this school are bound to daily worship, risking their abilities if they do not commit to such acts.

Abstractus: The most arcane of Magical studies, Abstractus envelops all magics that do not fall neatly into another School. Telepathy, Teleportation, Alchemy, and many other pursuits can be found under Abstractus, but reliable teachers are few and far between. Abstractus magics are only taught to those with an affinity for a specific sect within the Academy. As the possibilites and sub-sects are many, the aforementioned sub-sects will not be listed below in full, but rather in abbreviated form.

Sub-Sects*

-Light/Shadow Refraction and Manipulation
-Alchemy
-Channeling
-Telepathy
-Possessing
-Chrono-Kinesis**
