Appearance
A rather beautiful girl, Amelia takes after her mother for the most part. She has blonde hair, a slim body accompanied with the classic fair and pale skin of most English born children. Though clearly her mothers child Amelia did inherit her father's hazel eyes. She is often described as a porcelain doll as her appearance is fragile and to most she appears easily breakable. Even if it appears that way it is good to note that Amelia is in no way a fragile, breakable girl.

Personality
Amelia is known for sticking up for others though she will rarely stick up for herself. Despite this she can be fairly opinionated and always makes sure her opinion is heard. Could you expect any less of a girl who is sixth born in a family of eight children?

Though both her parents a generally nice people, Amelia has always been a little colder, less forgiving. This isn't because she was an unhappy child, no, the reason for her ways is because she was constantly taunted mercilessly and mistreated by her five older brothers from the time she could remember. Amelia's sadistic side of her personality only appears when she had been angered or if you have pushed her to far. She isn't the type of person you would want to hurt or make angry; as she can and will hold a nasty grudge.

Amelia is kindest around her parents and her two younger siblings, this doesn't mean she isn't kind. On the contrary when around the right type of people Amelia can be very kind, caring, and outgoing as if she is a totally different person. She is over stubborn, in her fathers words as stubborn as a mule making it often hard to compromise with her. When her mind is made up, it s made up you really have no hope in changing it.

Amelia has self destructive tendencies because of the way her brothers torment her and have tormented her in the past, she had grown to believe that no one will ever love her and that she will not find her fairy tale ending like so many have before her. Amelia keeps her pain well hidden and if she didn't tell you you wouldn't know she was in any.

Despite all of this Amelia has a strong maternal instinct and a need to protect children of any age. Children always hold a special place in her heart and absolutely melt her. Amelia is known to be most protective of her younger siblings often described as a mother bear around them she would go to any length to protect them and the rest of her family. Because of her brothers Amelia has extreme trust issues and has learned to questions everyone's motives. This makes her trust and loyalty hard to earn but once you have it she will always stand by you, no questions asked.

History

Amelia was born into a rich family or noble blood in the middle of spring. She was the sixth born child to her mother and father coming from a family of eight children; two girls, and six boys. From the time Amelia was around the age of four her five older brothers would torment her beyond belief, she quickly learned to despise them especially Zachary who was the oldest child in the family. Throughout her childhood Zachary was known for starting the sessions of taunting and endless cruelty that was only ever directed at young Amelia.

When she was around the age of five, Amelia started her studies which consisted of reading, writing, and a little bit of politics here and there for the simple reason that she would eventually end up going to court. Along with her academic studies Amelia learned how to ride and mastered the skill at the age of six. She also learned how to be a proper wife for whom ever she would marry in the future. She learned to cook, clean, and take care of children. She never understood why as her mother never did any of those things around the home, they had household servants for that.

When Amelia was seven she was already cold and very unforgiving, she had every reason to believe she couldn't trust people, that she couldn't trust her brothers; her own blood. For along time Amelia would just take what her brothers dished out, though as she grew older she learned how to get her brothers to back off. Having a small spurt of anger in warning usually did the trick. She also avoided them by spending time with her mother in her study.

England had never been the most peaceful place to live. In her town specifically parents rarely let their children play outside, it was the same for Amelia and her siblings. So, Amelia's childhood consisted of her studies, playing with dolls her father brought back for her from and castle. She had always been Daddies little girl after all.

When the plague first hit Amelia's father was infected. Doctor's were telling them to prepare for the worst as there was no cure. Her father escaped the grip of death by some kind of miracle, and was one of the only to escape the plague. After his illness he could no longer work, and rarely left his room. He put Zachary in charge of the family fortunes, and for all intents and purposes he became the man of the house. Amelia ignored and avoided her older brother as often as she could spending all of her time tending to the needs of her younger siblings and her father.

When cases of the plague started dying down and it seemed the worst was over, she could no longer ignore her brother blatant order to go to court, especially when now because it was safer for her to travel, their father agreed with him. Amelia didn't have a chance to comprehend it before almost all of her things were packed and she was saying goodbye to her family entering a carriage to go live with her uncle and two cousins who lived in the castle itself. Her uncle was a well known adviser to the King and rumored to be his most trusted.

Amelia's only instructions were to find a suitable husband, in other words and man with money, a title, and lots of land. The whole idea of being shipped off to the castle angered Amelia beyond belief, but she knew it would have happened eventually, and has since then accepted it.

Amelia stood by the edge of the bed staring at the dress her uncle was expecting her to wear that night. She hadn't left her room since the day she arrived it was her way of protesting being there, but tonight was the party that her uncle made very clear was not optional for her to attend, she didn't even know what it was for let alone why she had to go.

"Amelia, are you just going to stand and look at it?" Her cousin asked finally speaking up. "If you don't hurry we are going to be late." Amelia sighed picking up the dress she was getting cold just standing in her underskirts anyway. "I don't even want to go." she complained. "We all know why the King is throwing the party, so hopefully one of the ladies there will catch his sons eye. I don't want to be involved in that cat fight." her cousin giggled slightly sitting Amelia down starting to brush out her hair.

"Well, just imagine if you married the next King of England. That would make your parents proud. You wouldn't have to deal with Zachary bossing you around anymore." Amelia pondered on that point though even then she wasn't sure she would want to marry a Prince, when he became King he would be able to have his way with any women if he ever grew bored of her, and Amelia knew he would, no one could love her, so what was the point?

The party was as infuriating as Amelia had originally said it would be. Her uncle was flaunting her off like some prized horse and totally ignoring her cousins, his own daughters. From over hearing conversations between her own father and her uncle he often described his daughters as plain, no one would be interested in them. While all of the other girls were wearing dresses that could only be classified as scandalous, Amelia was the only one in a non-revealing gown, the only thing the gown did was cling tightly to the curves of her body which were accented by the damn corset she was forced to wear every day of her life.

"Amy!" Her uncle called clearly drunk, Amelia rolled her eyes letting her hair fall so it was hiding her face. "I want you to meet the King." Amelia pulled her arm away from her uncle who was leading her towards the royal family. "Do you think that's a good idea? given the fact you are drunk and the Kings Adviser at that." Her uncle chuckled. "The King is drunk as well Amelia, he just doesn't show it." Her uncle ushered her up to the royal family. "Ah, Arthur." He smiled, they had been friends for a long time. "This is my niece, Amelia, I was telling you about her the other day." Amelia curtsied keeping her head low, her heart was hammering in her chest. "Your Majesty. Its an honor to meet you." So much for staying out of the cat fight, Amelia could feel the other girls glaring at her, none of them had been that close to the Royal family and the Prince all night.

Arthus didn’t even bother arriving at the Ball on time, instead he spent a good hour outside the castle hunting with his friends. By the time he returned to the castle the Ball was well underway. He quickly changed out of his sweat soaked clothes into clean linens adorned in purple satin, and his family’s crest a red dragon over his heart. As he walked into the main hall, he waited for the chamber man to announce his name to the crowd.

β€œHis Royal Highness Arthus Alexander Pembington Galahad Pendragon.”

As he descended into the party, he felt a million hungry eyes were fixed on him. Most were out of respect granted, but many where those of half crazed young women preying that he’d chose them as his bride. His eyes wondered to his father, who was standing with Lord Winston who as always was tunneling a comfy cavern deep in his father’s ass. He had half a mind to walk over there, till he saw his mother and quickly darted in the opposite direction. After all he had promised not to get into any fights with her tonight, and that was one thing he was looking forward for the evening.

β€œM’lord, your father has taken the liberty in filling your dance card for the evening.” Chamberlin spoke, with a respectful bow.

β€œOf, course he has.” Arthus sighed, and allowed the man to point him out to a line of young women waiting to dance. His eyes narrowed, as he led the first woman into a dance.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

The King, smiled at his friend and his niece and shook his head. β€œYes, very pretty Winston, indeed but every girl here is very pretty.” He sighed with a regal snob, as his wife laughed halfheartedly. Queen Winifred, looked at the girl gently and nodded in agreement, β€œYes she’s very pretty.” She smiled gently, β€œshe reminds me much of myself at her age.”

Arthur, grinned β€œTell me Lady Amelia, how do you feel about this arrangement?" he asked her.

Amelia preferred what the Queen had said about her that what the King had she just didn't make that fact clear. She smiled gently at the Queens comment before turning her attention to the King when he spoke again. She glanced around the room at the sight before her. "I think it is a wonderful arrangement your Majesty. Just a little busy." Amelia added after a second glance at the room.

"Ah, Lady Amelia. You are supposed to be next in line to dance with the Prince." A man said bowing to the King and Queen after he spoke. "I am?" she asked a confused expression coming onto her face. "Yes, and this song is almost over." The man ushered her away from the King and Queen and to the line of girls who were also waiting to dance with the Prince.

Amelia took in a shaky breath when the song ended, she wondered if this was her uncles idea of fun. When the Prince approached her she curtsied with a small smile before taking his hand, following him onto the dance floor. Amelia glanced at the Prince before her a few times throughout the dance, he seemed more displeased to be there than she was, and that was saying something. As he lead her back to the side of the dance floor she looked over at him. "I'm not a fan of balls either, my Uncle forced me to come..." She said softly, not quite sure why she had said it, maybe she thought it would be a comfort to him that he wasn't the only one unhappy about being there. "Thank you, for the dance."

Amelia's cousin came into her room with a small squeal holding out a letter addressed to Amelia. As soon as Amelia so the hand writing she recognized it as Arthus's. Flipping it over she carefully broke his elegant seal smiling at the invitation for her to come riding with him in the afternoon. "So what's going on between you and the Prince?" Sarah asked with big eyes, she was the younger of Amelia's two cousins, and was excited by anything she thought could be love, but Amelia knew it was nothing like that. Since the ball herself and Arthus had become fairly good friends and spent time together when they could. It made Amelia feel more at home knowing that she had at least one friend, and she changed around him, she didn't feel like she needed to be cold and distant when with him so she wasn't.

"Nothing, we are just friends Sarah."
Sarah giggled as Amelia placed the letter off to the side on her desk. "What is so funny?" Sarah giggled some more. "Everyone says that." Sarah smiled over her shoulder as she left the room causing Amelia to simply roll her eyes.

Amelia smiled coming up to the two horses already prepared, she gently ran her hand down her horses soft velveteen feeling nose. The mare whinnied at the attention and in recognition of Amelia. When she spotted Arthus she smiled going up to him giving him a gentle hug. "Were you busy today? You usually don't send me a letter." she asked genuinely curious as to what the man had been doing.

ImageArthus had danced with nearly two hundred girls that night, a few names rang a bell when the evening was though for example Hortense, Constance, Ann, and Amelia to name a few. It was these girls that he planned to see again, most notably Amelia whom he thought to be a delightful change to from the snobby girls of court he was acquainted with already. Later that night, he tried to think of the precise reason he was attracted to Amelia. She wasn’t practically beautiful in his opinion, her tiny frame mimicked that of peasants and those of lower birth right. He started to wonder if she was eating enough, and so he ordered the cook the next morning and every morning to make her a feast for breakfast.

The next morning his father asked him which girls he liked best, in the typical father, son roasting manor. "As much as I distaste her uncle, I must say Lady Amelia has peaked my intrest quite a bit."

"Really?" His father seemed surprised, "I would have bet, Lady Ateia would have caught your fancy."

"If Lady Ateia, shut her mouth for more then two seconds I'm sure I would have found her quite agreeable." He mumbled.

A few days later, Arthus found himself quite busy with arranging an annual festival. His sister Ane, volunteered to help him oversee the tents preparation. The jousting field set up, and so on. "Are you going to joust Artie?" she asked with wide eyes.

"I have every intention to Ane, if father doesn't protest too much I intend to win." he smiled.

"Whose favor will you ask for?" Ane asked giggling like the silly child she was. "Lady Amelia's?" she guessed.

"What makes you say that?" he laughed, as he placed a large lance in it's slot. "I could pick any girl in this castle, Lade Ateia as father says is very accomplished."

"But you love Lady Amelia, all the servants whisper about it how you two have been seen together nearly everyday since the ball." Ane giggled and ran of, with a cheerful giggle. Arthus chased after her, into the hedge maze it was that careful feeling of youth once more. How he felt, as a boy playing with Adric by the creek... he stopped thinking of his twin, remembering how it felt to see his lifeless body clinging it in his arms.

"Got ya!" Ane screamed, tackling Arthus in a hug, "You stopped, why?"

"I need to get going, it's nearly noon and I promised."
he said before heading out of the maze and towards the stables. Ane's face frowned gently, as she walked back to the castle.

Arthus walked to the stables, where he saw his horse a white friesian was already saddled and ready to go. He smiled as he noticed Lady Amelia, was this love that he felt for her, if so it was surly a strange one. "I am sorry I am late, I have had business to attend to." he smiled gently looking deep into her hazel eyes. "There is to be a festival in a few days, I hope you will attend Lady Amelia." he smiled gently, and kissed her hand.

He helped her onto her horse, before jumping on to his own in once magnificent leap. "Shall we?" he asked and began to trot along the forest edge. "I was thinking we'd ride to the village?" he remarked "What do you think?"

Amelia had never been a big fan of festivals, it just gave her brothers a chance to push her into the mud or trick her into getting onto an untamed horse. Still she agreed she would go, if not for anything else simply to watch Arthus. It was common knowledge he competed in jousting.

"The village sounds wonderful." Amelia agreed as their horses went into a walk. The village, like usual was a hive of activity. They had tied their horses up a little outside of the village so that they would be able to walk around. As they headed towards the village Amelia admired a group of children playing, it looked like two brothers and a sister. The boys ran across the path in front of them but you young girl tripped on her skirts falling over, starting to cry. She looked to only be about five and her brothers didn't seem to have any intention of helping her.

She walked over to the young girl kneeling down to help her up. With motherly touch she gently brushed the girls hair from her face wiping a few tears from her cheeks. "Are you hurt?" Amelia asked concern in her voice as if the girl was her own child.

The young girl shook her head slightly a few more tears rolling down her cheeks, Amelia gingerly wiped those ones away as well. It seemed she was just shaken up. The girls mother came rushing out of a small house picking her up, thanking Amelia for making sure she was okay. Amelia simply nodded in reply. Before returning to Arthus's side, placing her hand back in the crook of his elbow.

The afternoon in the village was wonderful and Amelia enjoyed herself, the ride back however had been her favorite event of the day. They had taken the scenic route back through the forest stopping at a secluded lake that didn't look like it was visited often. Amelia slid off her horse carefully tying the mare to a fallen tree. She moved to the edge of the lake taking her boots off so that the water could lap at her feet. She took a deep breath closing her eyes letting the rays from the sunset warm her face.

When she opened her eyes Arthus was standing beside her, she looked over at him a small smile coming onto her face. She looked at him with a fondness and love she hadn't looked at anyone else with before. 'We are just friends Sarah.' Amelia's own voice echoed in her head and she quickly looked away from him her smile fading. Why would a Prince pick a daisy when he had a garden of roses to chose from?

"We should get back, before it gets dark." She said quickly, turning from the lake. She pulled her boots back on heading for the horses.

The day of the festival Amelia walked down to the jousting grounds Sarah and Kyla on either side of her. Her two cousins were giggling like school girls about whether or not Arthus was going to give his favor to Amelia. "Look there he is!" Sarah smiled pointing out Arthus from where he was standing, Amelia looked over in that direction, Lade Ateia was clearly flirting with him running her hand gently down his arm. Amelia caught his gaze and gently smiled even though she was slightly bothered by how Ateia was acting around him, she didn't know why though, Arthus and Amelia were nothing more than friends.

"Come along, we need to get good seats." Kyla looked at her sister before running to catch up with Amelia. "Aren't you going to say hello to Arthus?" Amelia sat down in the front row looking over at her cousins. "He looks rather busy Kyla. I don't want to interrupt." Amelia snapped slightly, her cousins sighed quickly sitting down on either side of her waiting for the competition to begin. Amelia wasn't paying much attention now. All she really wanted to do was go back to the castle, anything at that point seemed better than Ateia flirting with Arthus.

ImageThe Village, Arthus found the village quant he always did the simple life of a bustle of town. It was very amusing, but he was more fascinated with Amelia’s demonstration of general kindness to complete strangers. The girl could very well be an orphan stealing from other’s homes to survive. Yet without thought of that, she went out of her way to help the young girl. That was truly noble, something Lady Ateia would never do in what he had seen. It was that moment, that Arthus realized that he was endanger of falling helplessly in love with her. Strange how only a month ago, the thought of marrying a member of Lord Winston's family repulsed and disgusted him, but now things were so very different.

As they left the village, and headed back to the castle he noticed the sunbeams dancing in her golden hair. He smiled briefly, wanting to pick each and every beam from her hair and make her a wreath. What was he doing, what magic did she posses to make him feel like this? he pondered as they approached the stream. He watched as she dismounted, and followed leading his horse to the stream to drink. He stood next to her as his stead drank quietly and couldn't help but notice her eye wonder to him.

Arthus, spent a few days in the nursery before the joust with all the excitement he felt as if he was ignoring Euphemia. Most of the court was not aware of his child, something his father took a great length to arrange, she was treated by the staff as an orphaned soul taken in by the castle in her time of need. Only his father's most trusted advisors were made aware of Euphemia's parentage.

The day of the festival, Lady Ateia managed to cling onto his shoulder for a good long hour before Ane managed to get him away from her.
"So, are you going to tell me now?" She grinned in anticipation

"Tell you want know Anestasia, I don't know what your talking about." he jested.

"Come now, you only every use my full name when you jest. Artie are you?" she pleaded.

"Alright, then yes Ane I do intend to ask Lady Amelia for her favor but you mustn't tell her, or mother for that mater I'll not have my surprise ruined."

Ane smiled and giggled shaking her head fiercely, "Of course, oh it's so romantic!" she exclaimed before hugging him and running of to the royal booth. He grinned and pulled on his armor, piece by piece it would take a good half an hour before he was ready for the joust.

Ane, whispered to her mother and pointed to Amelia's direction. Queen Winifred then, summoned her man and asked he personally invite Lady Amelia and her cousins to the royal booth. Knowing full well that not many would refuse an offer made by a Queen, she smiled faintly in Amelia's direction before returning her gaze to her younger child.

It wasn't long after everyone was seated that the festival began, Winifred looked over to Amelia and spoke clearly. "My Daughter seems to be very impressed with you Lady Amelia." she said as Ane grinned and waved, "She wishes to know if you will consent to being her companion in court." Ane's eyes deepened with anticipation silently hoping Amelia would agree, she really wanted to know what it was that made her brother so very happy to be with her.

Arthus was up in no time, and he trotted his house in from of the booth and bowed gently as is customary before turning to Amelia, and lifting his helmet. "Lady Amelia, may I have your good favor?" in a loud and clear voice of meaning. Ane was nearly bursting with excitement but held it in very amiably.

Lady Amelia turned her head to the side when someone tapped her on the shoulder. "Lady Amelia, The Queen has invited you, and your cousins to sit with her, and her family in the royal booth." Amelia did her best not to appeared so shocked not quite sure what she had done to be invited to sit with the royal family. She lightly nodded following the man her younger cousins holding their excitement behind her.

"My Daughter seems to be very impressed with you Lady Amelia." Amelia smiled gently at the Princess, she wasn't quite sure what she did to make Arthus's younger sister fond of her. "She wishes to know if you will consent to being her companion in court." A little bit of shock rose back up in Amelia, she looked to the Queen. "It would be an honor your Majesty." Amelia replied with a small nod a grateful gesture.

Arthus was up fairly quickly, Amelia watched him go through the customs before trotting in her direction. "Lady Amelia, may I have your good favor?" She looked down at the light blue ribbon in her hand before looking back at Arthus, she stood gently tying it onto his lance, she smiled at Arthus sitting back down in her seat.

Feeling someone pulling at the skirts of her dress she looked over at the youngest Prince who was maybe ten and looked like he wanted to sit in Amelia's lap, she would have picked him up immediately if it wasn't for the fact he was the Prince and Amelia wasn't sure if it would be alright or not. She looked over at who gave her a gentle nod signalling it was alright before picking the boy up and settling him in her lap. She brushed some of his golden curls from his forehead causing him to giggle a little bit which in turn made Amelia smile. She couldn't wait to have a family of her own.

The festival continued after the jousting competition, and it seemed both Anestasia, and Henry had joined the company of Amelia, and her cousins. She was holding Henry's hand with one hand and Anestasia had managed to take her other one. Amelia brought them around to each booth trying to entertain them between competitions.

Lady Ateia and a group of other ladies who followed her around like lost dogs appeared in front of them. "Amelia, it seems you have the favor of two Princes." Her gaze moved down to Anestasia. "Oh, and a Princess." As if by Instinct Amelia picked Henry up settling him on her hip holding Anestasia's hand a little but tighter not tight enough to hurt her but tight enough to keep her close. "Amelia, if you don't stay away from Arthus, you aren't going to like what happens to you." Amelia held her head a little higher looking Ateia in the eye. "Arthus should chose who makes him happiest Ateia. You should want that for him as well even if it means he doesn't chose you." She replied ignoring the threat Ateia had made, if anything happened to Amelia they would now know who was behind it.

Amelia moved around the group of ladies offering to play a game of tag with her cousins and Arthus's two siblings. Leading them into the open field where the children were playing she started the game and soon most of the children were playing with them.

Amelia was spending fair amount of time with the Princess. Anestasia was becoming like a younger sister to Amelia. She had just brought Anestasia to her lessons for the afternoon, and decided to visit Arthus. The guard let her into the room, it didn't seem he was overly busy with anything but he was standing with her back to her. With a small smile she walked up quietly behind him gently wrapping her arms around his torso. They had been growing more intimate towards each other as late, but were careful to make sure no one saw it, it was fun to let them speculate.

After a moment she moved to stand beside him to see what he was looking at leaving one of her hands gently on his back. "What are you working on?" She asked curiously looking into his blue eyes with a smile, he seemed stressed as of late, Amelia wanted to see if she could help, even if it meant distracting him from his work for a little while.

Amelia was readying herself for bed going around blowing a few of the candles that lit her room out making it darker and easier for her to sleep. She was almost asleep when someone grabbed her in her bed holding her neck tightly enough that it was choking her. In a moment that was a mistake on the attackers part Amelia managed to get a few cries for help out before her attacker started choking her again. A guard burst into the room knocking the man off of Amelia getting her out of the bed, her night gown was torn in multiple places and the bruising on her throat was already starting to show.

One guard took away the man, another took the still shaking Amelia from her bed, and down to where the royal family had clearly been informed of the attack as, the King and Queen, Anestasia and Arthus, were all standing in the room they brought her to, but Amelia didn't even dare to look at Arthus. Everyone in the room seemed to already know what the attackers goal had been, if there was a question to Amelia's virginity she could never marry a royal.

"We got to her in time." The guard who had brought Amelia in spoke as if reading their mind. "Other than the injury to her neck, and a few cuts and scrapes, Lady Amelia was unharmed." Amelia gently rested her head on Ane's when she hugged her, the young girl seemed more shaken than Amelia was. "Oh Anestasia, don't you cry." Amelia whispered kneeling so that Anestasia was taller than her but closer to her height, she gingerly wiped away the girls tears. "I'm alright." Amelia lied, she had to, she didn't want Anestasia to be afraid.

Arthus was pleased that Amelia was fitting in so well with his family, and even his relationship with his mother seemed to be improving. Not a day went by that he didn't hear about some marvelous new talent discovered of Amelia's. Ane seemed to be among her strongest admirers, but as much as it was great that they were all getting along, he found it more difficult for himself to set out time to be alone with Amelia. He started spending a great deal more instead spending time with the ladies Hortense and Constance whose beauty greatly seceded Amelia's but whose personalities were as dry as a doornail.

Strange thing was, that no matter the time he spent away from Amelia his affection for her didn't deteriorate, but instead if grew. The longer he spent away from only made him yearn for her company more. After a long a tedious morning of mundane activates his father had pulled him aside and asked him, of course the stick in the ass Winston was with him. Arthus really didn't know what to think of the man anymore, on one hand Lord Winston seemed like he was only trying to butter up his father to remain on his good side, and by introducing Amelia to court ensures his place in court when it was Arthus' reign. So Arthus was conflicted he wanted to hate Winston he really did but could he hate the woman he loves family?

"So my son, it's been nearly two months June is fast approaching shall we be expecting a wedding?" The King asked, with a small smile.

Arthus sighed gently before answering, "If all goes well, I suppose so Father." he spoke.

The King laughed, "Excellent, I surmise Lord Winston's niece is the lucky girl."

Arthus, smiled looking at Winston then back to his father, "If you don't mind father I'd like to keep that to myself, a surprise." he laughed.

Arthus was awaken out of his bed, by Ane late one night and rushed into their parents bedchambers. "What is going on?" he asked, his parents giving a grieve look to them.

"Arthus Alexander, there has been an attack in the castle." his mother told him. "Lady Amelia..."

"No.." Arthus' eyes grew, thinking she was murdered. "I'll find who did this, I swear it!" he said in anguish, furious thinking he had lost the woman in his life that he truly loved.
"I.." he started unable to finish.

"The guard, stopped the attacker," The King spoke, "He's in customary, but there is a question that must by asked before she is allowed to remain in the castle."

Arthus, sighed in relief before speaking, "If she is still a maid..." he trailed off, Ane shaking her head gently. "What would happen if she is not?"

Winifred, frowned "she would be returned to her family, it would be their decision what would happen after that."

"A nunnery..." Arthus mumbled.

"Yes, most likely." Arthur said gently, as his son walked to the window looking out onto the grounds. Tomorrow was going to be the day, he thought but now it could never be even if the attacker failed they would need to wait for a priest to examine her to confirm it.

The guard came in with Amelia, Arthus could barely force himself to turn around to ensure she was safe. His mind was racing, everything seemed to fall apart for a moment just like Esmeralda's death all over again, only this time no little one in his arms.

Winifred approached Amelia, "Are you alright my dear?" she asked with a warmer face, Ane's arms clung around her so fast one could hardly realize they weren't there all along.

The King sighed, "Yes, very good but a priest must still examine her just incase."

"Arthur, really the girl just had a shock." Winifred said turning to her husband.

"Fred, it needs to be done not tonight grant you but in the morning." The King spoke to his wife.

Arthus, clutched his hand into a fist punching a vase to the ground a loud shatter echoed as it fell to the floor. He looked to his family and Amelia, his eyes in sorrow as he apologized briefly before running out of the room.

Kyla finally found Arthus she ran up to him falling into step beside him. "I thought you should know, Ateia threatened Amelia the day of the festival after the jousting tournament." Kyla looked over at Arthus, she had heard from whispers among many people that Arthus had taken the attack on Amelia hard. "Told her if she didn't stay away from you she wasn't going to like what was going to happen to her."

"I know they caught the person who attacked Amelia, but, that's something to think about."

After Amelia had seen the priest and he did confirm that her attacker hadn't gotten that far, she sat in her room, for hours on end just staring blankly at the wall, she refused to eat, refused to drink, she didn't even acknowledge her cousins when they came in. When the sun was starting to set Amelia moved to her desk writing a quick letter to Arthus, asking him to meet her by the pond when it was dark, she had wanted to see him all day, but the previous night he had just stormed off and she didn't want to upset him more. She hoped that the darkness would mask the bruising on her neck enough that he couldn't see the full extent of it.

Amelia stood by the pond a cloak over her shoulders to keep her warm as it was often cold during the night. She looked out over the pond wondering if Arthus would show, she hoped he would, she wanted to see him, needed to see him. Hearing footsteps Amelia turned around smiling when she saw Arthus, she moved to him quickly gently wrapping her arms around his neck burying her head in his shoulder. She drew in a shaky breath fighting the urge to cry.

"I wanted to go make sure you were okay last night, but your mother wouldn't let me see you, said I was in shock and needed to rest." Amelia pulled slightly away from him her gaze meeting his, her eyes moved from his eyes to his lips and back to his eyes, she leaned in gently bringing her lips to his. It was a chaste kiss, not to long, soft and simple. When she pulled away from him she looked back into his eyes with a gentle smile.

Arthus found Amelia’s letter slipped under his chamber door. He had instructed the servants not to bother him. A warning Amelia’s cousin apparently didn't’t hear as she was knocking on his door, vigorously shortly after he found the letter.

β€œYour love for your cousin is touching, but that’s not the reason I am upset” he spoke to her, as he walked away. He didn’t really want to talk about it at the moment, the uncertainly he felt on wether or not he could really protect her and keep her safe. He wanted to badly to say, that everything would be a happily ever after, but in truth it most likely would not if she didn’t die from the plague or childbirth the likelihood of assassination was very high. He knew that all too well, people would always go to drastic measures to ensure their own power.

He found himself at the pound, seeing her made his heart melt she looked so beautiful in the moonlight, he briefly embraced her knowing this was a hard time for her.

β€œI don’t typically say this, but perhaps my mother was right.” He gently grinned. Before he could say much else, her lips were already to his and he held her close. He parted from her and laughed gently, β€œAmelia, I am sorry that it happen even if it didn’t get far.” He told her, β€œthe fact that it even got that close will haunt me forever.” He smiled gently.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
A few days later, Arthus decided it was time to truly test Amelia. He went to the nursery, picking up little Euphemia and walked down stairs to Amelia’s chambers. He didn’t know how much she knew about his time in the crusaders, or if her uncle even knew for that matter though he properly did.

He knocked on the door and asked for her, to meet him in the courtyard before heading there Little Euphemia gasping and giggling as he walked with her.

Amelia headed to the courtyard shortly after Arthus had asked her to meet him there, she smiled seeing him and smiled a little brighter seeing the young girl in his arms, she walked over gently taking the girls hand. "And who is this?" Amelia smiled at the child who looked to be about three, she laughed a little bit when the child laughed. Amelia took the girl from Arthus after asking if it was okay for her to hold her.

"You are a very beautiful little girl." Amelia smiled brushing the girls dark hair to the side causing her to giggle again, Amelia looked at Arthus with a smile gently placing the child on the ground, Amelia expected her to wander to Arthus as she seemed most comfortable with him, but instead she stayed by Amelia gently holding onto the skirts of her dress.

They walked around for a while, Amelia held one hand of the little girl while Arthus held the other and she walked in between them, the whole thing made her smile, the fact Arthus was good with children, the fact they had a young girl walking between them. It made he want to have a family with him.

The day of the trail for her attacker came shortly after that day. Amelia was nervous all day and a guard had been assigned to her, the Queen had said it was just for safety measures. Amelia paced in her room freezing when she heard a knock on the door. "Come in..." she relaxed considerably seeing Arthus step through the door, she moved over to him hugging him tightly burying her head in the crook of his neck, she was shaking uncontrollably, she was scared and understandably so.

She pulled away just enough to look at him a few tears rolling down her cheeks, she still hadn't recovered from the actual attack her neck was still bruised and it still hurt to talk most of the time, she just looked at Arthus for a few minutes. "I'm scared...What if he gets away? He will come after me again if he gets away." Amelia sighed looking down at the ground a lot of the time in these types of cases the person was often let go and never convicted. She had a feeling Arthus wouldn't let that happen.

Arthus, smiled at how gently Amelia handed Euphemia. "She is my daughter." he told her as he held on to Euphemia's little hand gently. He was pleased with her reaction, and it only brought him more assurance that she was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his day with. Hours flew like seconds, it was the most excitement he had been apart of in a long time. Little Euphemia even took her first steps without assistance, and who do you think she walked to but Amelia. Yes, it would seem that every member of his Kin like Amelia, she would indeed make a good and fair wife and one day Queen. The only question now to ask is would she be safe? What more, would she accept the risks if she knew what might happen to her.

Arthus was all too familiar with assassination attempts, stories have it his uncles plotted to murder him and Adric in their crib. He's spent his entire life knowing that the next attempt on his life could just be around the corner, but could Amelia live like that?

As the trail date approached, Arthus spent time trying to uncover the plot that someone wielded agents Amelia. Kyra, had said something about Lady Ateia but from what he had discovered she didn't have nearly the funds to hire such a thug. Interrogations even came to a standstill when the man stopped communicating with the guards. It didn't quite make sense, till he came across a brake the Lady Hortense D'Medci was seen talking to a shadowing figure the eve before the attack. Her family being well connected in the criminal underworld, as well as being the niece to the Pope she would have had the most to gain from Amelia being ruined.

He approached her chambers in an effort to express the good news. Instead he tried to settle her down. "Amelia, the trail is really only a formality. My father is his judge, do you really think he will just let him of after such an offence?" he asked her, as he pressed his lips to hers gently. "He won't get away." he said firmly, deciding now not to inform her about Lady Hortence.

The Trail was quick, as the evidence was substantial and the man was sent to the chopping block to the next morning. Arthus remained by her side the entire time, holding her in his arms caringly. When it was all over he whispered in her ear gently, "Will you be my wife?"

A little over a week after the trail, a large Ball was yet again being arranged at the palace this time in anticipation for Arthus to announce to the world his bride. Most of the court already knew, his feelings for Amelia but he wanted to make a vow to everyone he could that he intended to make her his wife and one day his Queen. He made sure all the everyone in the kingdom was invited including his bride's family. He found her on the morning before the ball, and kissed her gently.

"There you are, are you ready for this evenings festivities?"

When the trial had come to the close and her attacker dead Amelia was still safely wrapped in his arms. She heard the words he whispered in her ear and turned her head to look at him. Her tears of fear and sadness were quickly replaced with tears of joy. "Yes. Of course I will be your wife." she whispered back to him with a bright smile.

Amelia knew there were risks to being close to Arthus, and she knew there were more associated with being his wife, but she was ready to face them knowing she wouldn't be alone.

Amelia had been in the gardens walking around most of the morning, she smiled happily accepting the kiss from Arthus not surprised he found her, he seemed to be uncovering all of her hiding spots within and around the Castle. "Your mother has made quite sure I'm ready." Amelia informed him with a small smile. "My family should be arriving any minute, guests have been coming into the castle since dawn. It looks as if it will be a very grand event." Amelia commented, she knew it was going to be grand event and she was happy she was going to get to spend it with Arthus though she felt there were going to be a lot of overly excited people when it came to the engagement as there always was with royal engagements.

Amelia spent as much time with Arthus as she could, when the time finally came for her to settle in her family and start preparing for the ball she turned with a sigh gently wrapping her arms around his neck kissing him gently, when they broke apart she bit her lip a small smile coming onto her face. "I will see you soon."

As expected the ballroom was packed just like the first night Amelia had met Arthus. She waited anxiously beside him for their cue to go in as she was to stand by his side as his fiancee and soon his wife. When the cue came Amelia could feel her heart pounding roughly against her chest as the crowd erupted in cheers.

Amelia watched Arthus with love filled eyes while he made the announcement and the crowd once again erupted into cheers that took a while to settle. When they did finally settle, as tradition had it Amelia and Arthus started the dancing, about half way through the first song people started to dance with their own partners. After the dance they spent a lot of time accepting congratulations and well wishes from many of the Lords and Ladies, Amelia just assumed they were trying to get on the future Kings good side, as far as she knew most Lords did everything to stay in the Kings good favor.

Weeks had passed since the announcement of their engagement. The wedding was approaching quickly, Amelia had been spending a lot of time with the Queen because of it going over plans and arrangements, the dress fittings were Amelia's new least favorite activity as her wedding dress just seemed to weigh a ton and seemed to get heavier and heavier each time she put it on.

"The wedding is only about a week away, with that being said everything is prepared and ready to go Lady Amelia." Amelia smiled at the women in front of her, she had been working closely with Amelia and the Queen in terms of planning as they quickly discovered that the King and Arthus were not the best at planning events such as this which was to be expected not shocking Amelia to much. "Thank you, it is all very lovely." Amelia thanked the women with a small smile, she was desperate to get out of the room as the Queen hadn't been with her and she was finishing the details off alone.

She was already late to meet Arthus like they did everyday, they had to designate a time to spend with one another as they were both busy with preparations for the wedding and what would come after it. When the woman said that would be all she gave a knowing smile to Amelia. "I know you are desperate to go see the Prince, so that will be all today." Amelia smiled thankfully leaving the room.

Amelia made it out to the pond quickly smiling upon seeing Arthus, he seemed to have laid a picnic out. "A picnic?" Amelia smiled kissing him, she sat down next to him on the blanket that was laid out closing her eyes as a warm summer breezed passed through her hair and over her body. Amelia turned kissing Arthus again, this time the kiss was deeper, Amelia had been noticing that recently that their kisses were becoming longer, deeper, and had a longing sense to them. She rested her forehead gently against Arthus's when they broke apart, she put a hand on his cheek opening her eyes and smiling.

"Your mother has been driving me insane with wedding plans. It seems to almost be done however. Just a few details left here and there." She could not wait for the wedding, after all of the planning and all of the time waiting, Amelia was ready for the day to come.

ImageArthus found solace in the weeks that passed, most likely due to the fact that he was pretty much omitted from all wedding plans. His opinion didn't seem quite as important, at first it was refreshing but recently it has truly taken a toll on him. He was unable to spend the time he so wanted to with Amelia, and because whenever he tried to help with the planning of his own wedding his mother just place him on a wild goose chase. In any case, he did manage to arrange a time just before dusk to meet with his betrothed, although not ideal it was time.

He had arranged for the servants to have a picnic made up under the large oak tree in the gardens, next to the reflecting pool. He sat, fixing himself a small plate and tea wail she approached him and a smile appeared on his face. He kissed her back, and whispered "how are you my love?" he grinned, before kissing her once more.

"Your mother has been driving me insane with wedding plans. It seems to almost be done however. Just a few details left here and there." she spoke.

"How can I help?" he smiled and kissed her once more, the feeling of her lips bringing a smile to his face. After they finished their meal he frowned remembering his father's words from earlier. "I am afraid my love, we will need to postpone the wedding a few weeks." he said caressing her cheek. "The rebellion," he reminded her, "They have attacked our forced in the north, and I am to ride to York to attempt to recapture our cities." he kissed her, once more not wanting to part from her. "I leave in a fortnight."

"how are you my love?" Amelia smiled at Arthus. "Tired, I never seem to have a second to myself anymore."

Amelia accepted every one of his kisses before she forced a smile onto her lips gently placing her hand on Arthus's cheek. "Just come back to me safely." the rebellion was something that needed to be handled she understood that but it never got easier sending a loved one to war, whether it was her father, or even her brothers she often found it hard not knowing if they would come back alive.

Arthus is future King, and a King rides with his men, that has always been common knowledge to everyone, Amelia just wished that the timing was a little bit better.

Like Arthus has said he rode out in a fortnight, Amelia stood on the balcony beside the Queen watching as the men disappeared watching as Arthus disappeared. She took a breath forcing the air into her lungs. "It's always hard, watching them go to war." The Queen spoke softly, Amelia looked at her from the corner of her eye. "It never gets easier, but you get used to it the worry and the anxiety that you might have been with them for the last time." Amelia took in another breath, she hoped it got easier.

Over the time Arthus was away Amelia spent her time between Euphemia and Ane. Euphemia was still to young to understand what was going on Amelia went and visited the young girl to keep herself grounded and stay reminded that Arthus would come back, while she spent time with Ane for support while her brother way away, Ane was probably just as worried as Amelia was that he wouldn't come back. "When your brother gets back." Amelia started gently placing her hand on Ane's head running her fingers through the girls hair. "We will all go out riding, and have a picnic, how does that sound?" Amelia suggested with a kind hearted smile.

The Horn that signaled the return of the men sounded, Amelia went outside to join the others who were waiting to see if their loved ones made it home. When Amelia didn't see Arthus leading the group her heart dropped and she quickly started searching for him in the crowd of men. She spotted him eventually in the middle of the crowd she moved to the front of the on lookers rushing to him once he dismounted his horse, she quickly looked him over to see if she could find any visible wounds. "Are you alright? Are you hurt?" She asked softly before carefully wrapping her arms around his neck, she didn't realize how scared she had been to lose him until that moment.

Image Over the next few weeks Arthus found himself wary and tired, fighting an enemy who always seemed to have the underhand. When he returned to the castle, he appeared covered in blood that was not hid own. Walking among his men, having given his horse to someone who needed it more then he. The only relief he found was in seeing Amelia's eyes, staring at her. Wrapping his arms around her, he kissed her passionately not wanting to talk or answer her questions neither answer wouldn't give her anything other then pain. "I must speak with my father." he said parting from her, his eyes memorizing her features as if to never forget them again. "I missed you Amelia," he smiled gently before kissing her once more.

---------------

Arthus stood in front of his father to give his report on the battle, what all happened and all. It didn't look good, as the King could clearly see that they returned with one thirteenth of the troops that left just two weeks ago.

"They knew father, Simply put they knew we were coming."

"How." Lord Winston spoke, "How could they have possibly known."

Arthus stood in front of Amelia's uncle and glared at him, not saying a word but silently telling him to back off. The man stepped aside and allowed the Prince to speak again.

"They knew our plans to take the city back, they knew them long before we go there. We can't retake Camelot this way father, I don't even know if it's worth the..."

The King hammered down his fist, "Of course it's worth it." he said in a loud booming voice.

Arthus, stood talking to his father for the next what felt like hours discussing just how wrong the plans had gone, and what most likely became of the men, women, and children that were trapped in the town. There was a spy at court there had to be, of course his speculations revolved around Amelia's uncle however not even a pompous old sort like Lord Winston would risk his family's chance to advance in their position. "I will find the mole father, you have my word." he told his father before leaving.
--------------------------------------

ImageOnce again, the wedding was set and Arthus found himself growing more and more nervous not only because a mole was hiding in the palace but also because it brought a dangerous enemy very close to Amelia. He spent his days in the war room, studying tips and hints he uncovered from the kitchen staff and ladies maids. No one really knew anything, but there had to be something.

One Saturday morning, Ane had managed to beg both Amelia and Arthus for a picnic his beloved seemed to have promised her. She even went so far as to convince his mother to allow Henry to join them, and Euphemia who was still more interested in nibbling on her fingers, sat priceless in her father arms, her little eyes looking at the treeline. Ane also somehow managed to convince Edward to join them as well.

Even though Edward and Ane were the same age, they were nearly nine months apart. the Queen always refereed to them as twins nevertheless. Ane with her long red curls and freckled face from long rides in the garden, and Edward with his short curls of brown hair, and bright blues eyes resembling Arthus a great deal when his was his age. Ane, sat peacefully on the blanket playing a sweet song from her pipe, a hushed lullaby of sorts.
