Kingdom Walls

Hot sun, hot winds, hot sand. This is a desert wasteland, where a war wages between Nomads and the supposed "Kingdom" of Astran.

Introduction

Astran is a desert world. Or at least, it seems to be so.

History began when the first Astranians settled around a large stone pillar, its touch being the only cold thing around for miles. Its surface was clean of any marks, somehow no one since the first settling could use it to record history.

Hundreds of years passed and the little settlement grew substantially into a kingdom, with tilled land surrounding mud huts, which in turn surrounded the pillar, which was now named The Tower. Though the earth is poor in minerals, farming and foraging was still a necessity that managed to scrape enough food for everyone. But every year the sun gets a little bit hotter. Luckily there are enough wells stationed around the Kingdom for everyone to survive.

Fifty years ago people began to leave from the tall walls of the Kingdom, either by choice or by force. These people who manage to survive in the harsher conditions outside the comfort of the Kingdom were named Nomads, for they had left their original home. Nomads are sometimes also degraded as savages, because they often have no choice but to kill and steal in order to survive. They are normally distrusted by Kingdom-dwellers.

The Chieftain and the Shaman are titles handed to only the head of the leading family and the witch doctor of the Kingdom. They do not leave the walls, and help as many as they trust.

This year the air was not so hot, but the sandstorms continue to crash into the walls of the Kingdom. The people that miraculously thrive in this world only expected it, and were foretold that this year was not going to be a good year of harvest by the Shaman.
He also foretold the war between Nomads and the Kingdom. He was right.

One day a group of Nomads came into the Kingdom...and started a war.

YOU are either a Kingdom-dweller or a Nomad. Any other roles, you'll have to run it by me first.

Sade was organizing scrolls, bandages and towels on the shelves in the Shaman's hut when she began to daydream about outside the walls of the Kingdom again. The tomes she had read about it were vague; all they had talked about was the sand and the dust and the hot air. She had already known about all that, since the Kingdom generally had the same thing. What she wanted to hear about were the Nomads, the creatures that prowled the Wastelands, and anything else that wasn't sand.

An old man limped into the Shaman's hut. Sade recognized him as one of the farmers that worked on the tilled land surrounding the Kingdom. Quickly, priestesses tended to him. Sade wasn't allowed to handle patients sometimes; because of her unsettling eyes and pale skin, she looked like an aberration in poor disguise. She didn't mind though. Being alone was not a burden on her.

A sigh, lacking any mist that accompanied most melodramatic, drawn-out sighs.

Archer, a boy lacking a last name that accompanied most youthful, late adolescent boys.

The barren desert strangely comforted him. His tanned skin blended into the sands. A groups of Nomads walked with him, a war they wished to start. Kicked out of their rightful homes, and it only took fifty or so years to want to take it back. His long white hair shifted in the winds. The golden chains around his neck jingled merrily. Out of his large group, Archer was the only archer within it, sure there were other groups who had a more even amount of warriors and archers, but when you had someone who could disperse fifty arrows a minute, who could argue for just one?

Sharp blue eyes glared forward, although no revenge stung them. A cheerful smile gripped his face.

May they all be prepared.

I have a few questions: Is there magic in this story?
Is there an age expectancy you want our characters to be around?
Can we use drawings or do you prefer real pictures?

I would like to introduce my current character:

"Archer is a free nomad who prefers living alone. His youthful age reflects in his laid back personality. Yet, he helps with the war effort. His name is derived from what he does best, archery. Archer himself is unable to read or write, and struggles to speak. With strength in his arms and torso, Archer uses longbows and crossbows professionally. With a smile on his tanned face, Archer is cheerful and devoted to his fellow nomads. Freedom is always on his mind."

Hi and welcome! So glad you want to join!

To answer your questions, yes there is magic. I would just prefer nothing overpowered as that can unbalance the fairness between characters. The Shaman is master of healing magic specifically, but there can be other masters elsewhere.
Because it's a desert wasteland style setting, life expectancy would not be very high. But because there is magic, life expectancy can also be played with a little :P so I could suggest perhaps the natural death age range being between 40-50 years. If you or anyone disagrees, feel free to collaborate on this.
Drawings and photos are both perfectly fine.

And I really like the idea of Archer.

Kingdom Walls

Hello, to those who have seen or are looking at this roleplay Kingdom Walls:
This is my first universe/roleplay that I created. It was based off of a book that I began to write but never finished, so I decided to see if others could do better with this setting than I could! :P

If you decide to join, great! I don't think there will be a limit to how many people can join, as long as everyone has fun in the end, right? You can suggest ideas for anything here in OOC, even if you haven't joined yet and are just interested or browsing. If you do apply and get accepted, it would be nice if you introduce yourself and your character here too! :)

The main idea is that anyone can be anyone in this setting, as long as it makes sense. You can be a regular Nomad or Kingdom-dweller with no ties to the war, or you could be very involved with the war! It's only the special roles, like the Chieftain/Shaman/Nomad Leader/anything similar that I would like to check with you first.

Thanks for reading this, and have fun!
