Introduction
A Land of Legends
In the land of Termina, the people have many tales and legends of note, Giant Gorons, The mysterious Pinnacle Rock, and The Ikana Kingdom, all stories they tell around a camp's fire or to children as they fall to sleep, but one in particular, one much darker comes to mind before any other. A story of a scorned boy who stumbled onto an ancient mask whose evil powers he had no hopes of controlling, and of a hero who wielded time as his weapon, and the spirits of past heroes to defend the forsaken lands from utter destruction. The evil mask the boy had found was called Majora's mask, an artifact crafted by a long forgotten tribe to harness the power of a trickster they had worshiped as god. Its original purpose was to plague and hex the tribe's enemies, but it began to corrupt everything the tribe came in contact with, their minds, their food, and even the very land itself started to twist and taint as the mask continued to be used. Its power was terrible, and the tribe decided to lock it away to prevent its misuse, and for fear of the catastrophic events it was bound to cause if it was left in the wrong hands. Even though it was uncovered, and for a short three days wreaked havoc on the world once again, the mask of Majora has long since left Clock Town, and Termina in the same hands it had come.
But this is not the story of Majora, It is a dark new chapter for the land of Termina, with a new evil and new heroes to stand tall.
A Dark Legacy
The Lost tribe worshiped Majora and its powers as a god, this much is common knowledge now, but what many don't know was Majora wasn't the only god they had worshiped. Majora was a trickster and a deviant, and even though its powers were great, there was a far worse influence on the tribe with much more power than Majora or it's mask. The tribe's people had worshiped five different deities, all vastly different from the last in temperament and powers, Choku: the god of wind and storms, Majora: the god of mischief and chaos, Lipaan: the goddess of healing and life, Galam: God of earth and nature, and Zalgamut: the dark god of war and death. The mask wasn't the only dark creation these folk brought to the mortal world, a staff, fixed with scorched wood and the bones of the tribes enemies, crafted in the name of Zalgamut, and whose sole purpose was vast, unimaginable destruction. They only used it once before they knew it couldn't be used again, just a small flick and an entire civilization was washed away in an instant. The creators couldn't undo the magic imbued to the weapon, so they instead separated the pieces and spread it across what is now present day Termina.
How much longer can it go undiscovered?
Present Day
Its been almost 48 years since the young hero defeated Majora and stopped the moon crisis in Clock Town, and since his memory has become a major part of the towns culture, most notably a large portrait of the boy on the Clock Towers doors. There's only two days left until the annual Carnival of Time, and Clock Town is in quite a bustle, with big plans of out-doing last years celebrations and with a much larger budget from the towns mayor, the streets are littered with colorful decorations and workers rushing to get everything ready for the big day. The hear-say from traveling merchants have visitors from all over pouring into the city, Zoras from the Great bay, Deku from Woodfall, and even a few of the Gorons made the trip all the way from the shrine in Snowhead to join in on the fun, all in all, the streets are flooded with smiling faces and palpable anticipation.
And Where Am I?
You, for whatever reason, be it business or simply to celebrate with good company, have also chosen to attend the Carnival of Time. You came a bit early to make sure they still had beds open at the lodge and to get yourself acquainted Clock Town a bit before the insanity begins. The city's energy had been rather infectious as you decide to explore, the idle chatter between women standing in the streets, large men carrying lumber to and from different areas of town, brows and backs sweating under the hot sun, musicians breathing a bit of cheer into every street corner with lively tunes, and the constant yapping of the merchants trying to vend their wares to every passer-by, meshing together to make quite a flustering and exciting experience.
