Raiden

"Damn." Was the first word that left Raiden's mouth as he awoke with unclear, fuzzy dizziness. The worst part was that he couldn't remember how he ended up in such a state. He wriggled his fingers and toes, trying to recollect his senses of touch, smell and hearing since sight was taking a while to settle and had managed to deduct that he was lying down on cold, hard ground.. consisting of tiles, perhaps. He attempted to get up but the world would spin around more and the best he could do, was sit up. He placed the palm of his right hand against his forehead and closed his eyes trying to regain focus but the contact established between skins felt wrong. He didn't feel clean for some reason. There was a kind of liquid covering his hand and being smothered against his forehead that he couldn't identity simply from touch, so he was forced to rely on his blurry vision. It was enough to provide him an answer, as well as more questions to come.. for it was red.. and he naturally deducted it to be blood. It's still..warm. He opened and closed his hand and the red became more clear as his vision normalized. It wasn't exactly the best sight, but it was sight and he was glad for that. As he stood up and started scanning his surroundings, he expressed his thanks aloud in brief mutters, "I'd hate to be a cliched forum moderator with glasses---" He paused as he finally grasped the magnitude of the situation and his heart rate quickened in pace despite his deceivingly calm composure.

"What. the. fuck."

Raiden loved playing violent video games but seeing the glory of guts and blood in real life was a bit too much for his taste. It was only now that his sense of smell had picked up on the stench of something rotting. Pinching his nose, he turned his head around to discover a rotting corpse whose limbs had disappeared to who knows where or had been removed by who knows what. The whole room he was in was decorated in blood and guts that it was hard to even differentiate what was what besides parts of a once living organism, a human being. Raiden conducted a pat down check to make sure none of those hideous displays came from him before heaving a breath out in relief. He was in one piece, at least for now. Raiden swiftly moved out of the room to find he was in a hallway and one that he could recognize. It was a hallway of Airdalen High. He remembered it from a tour he took last week but couldn't remember how he got there. Raiden started walking down the hall and discovered a few locker rooms that looked in as bad a shape as the room he was in originally... some even worse. Well this school sure is fucked up.. maybe I should have put more effort into not being kicked out of my old high school. Just when Raiden thought he was alone, he spotted a familiar midget-sized body lying ahead of him and started running towards it. So it's not just me, but Mai too?! Raiden immediately crouched by his unconscious cousin and started shaking her shoulders. "Mai, Mai.. wake up! Come on you little midget or I'll pinch your cheeks and make you cry!" he joked but his voice was very firm and serious. He worried that he might have been too late to save her and started checking that she too, was in one piece. "No blood.. no body parts missing..and you still have your bizarre eyeballs so get up." he shook her one more time before turning his head at the sound of female voices coming from a room two doors away.

"Uhm, do you have any idea where we could go and be safe, and then think what happened to our school?" Raiden's head moved back and forth before he decided to give his cousin Mai a free piggyback until she gained consciousness. He carried her up to the door where the voices were coming from before taking a wary sneak peek at who was in the room. The voices appeared to be coming from two females alright, but more specifically from students of Airdalen High who also seemed as confused as he was. His eyes lowered as he noticed one (Momo) was holding two metal rods of some sort that was covered in blood. Is she responsible for this? He turned his head back a little to check on his cousin whose weight was starting to get to him. I don't mind getting my hands dirty if they weren't so occupied at the moment. "Oi oi Mai." Raiden quietly mumbled while flexing his shoulders in an attempt to stir his cousin awake. He wasn't sure what was going on and what was going to happen if he approached the two, but he knew that if he was to do anything his cousin should be alert, up and ready to run should trouble befall them.

Mai

It was dark and only dark which scared her for a moment as she couldnā€™t see. Mai could feel something cold underneath her body and around her, itā€™s so cold, so cold and dark. Even if they were only her thoughts they were sluggish and it hurt a bit to think. Suddenly that cold feeling disappeared as warmth touched certain parts of her body. There was a strange sound coming from somewhere and she noticed just the tiniest bit of light in her vision. That little hole was the source of the strange sound and as her ears were finally getting accustomed to the world around her she realized it was most definitely a voice, a familiar one too.

The warmth from before disappeared just for a brief moment as did the rocking of her body. It came back of course which she was grateful for but that cold feeling she felt on the underside of her body disappeared and moved to her back as her cheek rested against something soft yet firm. Scrunching her eyes a bit, Mai disliked the sudden change and hugged her arms closer towards the source of warmth. Then an odd movement began happening at her chest and arms as if it was shaking her while she slept. That voice came back, calling her name at least she assumed it was as she was still a bit hard of hearing. Then it clicked, the voice, the warmth, the odd movements, her name, Raiden was trying to wake her up! But why would he do that, she was never one to initiate a conversation but when she was with Raiden it got a bit easier to do just that.

Nuzzling her face into the crook of said soft yet firm spot, Mai mumbled and regrettably opened her eyes. She blinked a few times waiting for her vision to come back and she was thankful for the onslaught of colors even if they only caused a headache now. But there was one color that stood out the most, the color red, it was everywhere. Confused Mai pushed away from the warmth that held her and she realized what had been happening. She caught Raidens eyes with her own and a blush rose to her cheeks. "W-Wha-. . ." Mai looked away and figured out that her bigger cousin was giving her a piggyback ride! Once again that look of bewilderment crossed her face and she pushed back away from Raiden.

This however didnā€™t go all too well as she fell out of Raidens hold. Landing on her rump, Mai let out a small nearly inaudible yelp and placed her hands on the ground to get herself back up. Thatā€™s when she touched it, it was wet and slightly warm. Even more confused Mai lifted her hand and could feel the semi-warm liquid fall away from it. Moving her to the front of her face, the color in her face drained but it was a bit difficult to tell considering her tanned skin tone. The semi-warm liquid on her hand was red, red which meant blood and she's been seeing a lot of red in the last minute or two. Her breathe came in quick as she tried to calm herself to not hyperventilate and she put her hand back on the ground making sure to avoid the pool of red that was there. Using the wall instead, Mai slowly got up on shaky feet and she jumped when she noticed the wall too had smears of red.

Fear became apparent on her face as she looked to her cousin to figure things out. "R-Rai-d-den?" her voice quivered and it was a bit scratchy. Then something caught her eye, orange met red but what it saw was something Mai had trouble understanding. Down the hall from them was a body. It wasnā€™t moving and the positions of its appendages were at angels they should be at. Not only that but she only saw the back half of the body while the upper body was hidden behind a corner. Raising her arm shakily, Mai pointed to said split body then shook her head not wanting to know.

Standing up a bit straighter, Mai walked on shaky legs closer to her cousin and simply put one hand on his arm as she grabbed a bit of sleeve. Signifying she was done freaking out and for him to lead the way. Lifting one hand, the one not covered in blood, she placed her finger to her mouth as she began to nibble at the tip of her finger. Shaking her slightly her messy hair fell over her eyes a bit. Now Mai was back to normal, well if you could call it that. For now she hid behind the comfort of her hair as well as her cousinā€™s larger body, nibbling on her finger helped her calm down it was an odd habit but one she had trouble breaking.

Momo

When Momo was done dealing with the zombie onslaught, she bit her tongue and covered her mouth in surprise. Did I really just scream the word ā€˜scumā€™? "Uhm... Thank you very much!" Momo turned her head, eyes widening as she noticed there was still one more zombie to go. ā€œAUHā€”ā€œ she was about to warn her new acquaintance but as luck would have it, the silver-haired girl had unconsciously dodged the attack with the zombie ending up trapped under falling lockers from a domino effect. Phew.. Momo wiped her brow with her forearm, only to glance back at her messy self and the messy state of the locker room. There was no way she would get used to the stench and sight of splattered guts. It took all her self-control not to puke. "Thank you very much for saving me." The girl bowed to which Momo blinked confusedly before smiling. "My name is Cassiopeia." ā€œCah-ss-ee-oh-pey-ah?ā€ Momo attempted to pronounce or clarify her name with a head tilt. It was one of the longest first names she had ever heard of but it sounded beautiful. Analysing her new company, Cassiopeia looked very foreign and surely not Japanese which helped explain the unique name She appeared really pale in complexion, as if she was not used to the touch of the sunā€™s rays and had been raised indoors for the most part of her life. Momo snapped out of her thoughts as the girl returned her mobile phone. She seems okay but Iā€™ve never seen her before.. is she a transfer student?"What's your name?" "Oh, you have a message from Kei." Momoā€™s head started to spin as she realised there wasnā€™t really any time for pleasantries and small talk. Sera could still be trapped in an elevator, and there was still the reality of zombies to face.ā€Iā€™m Momo.ā€ The junior said in a rush as she pressed a few buttons on her phone to access Keiā€™s message: 'Momo, it's Kei, I'm hoping you're okay. I'm at the sickbay with a few others.' "Uhm, do you have any idea where we could go and be safe, and then think what happened to our school?"

ā€œYes..ā€ Momo replied then immediately started getting teary eyed as her thumbs went to work on her reply: ā€˜Iā€™m okay. I have another survivor with me named Cassiopeiaā€¦ā€™ Before she could continue texting, she dropped on her knees and started rubbing her eyes feeling like a baby. Momo just couldnā€™t stop crying. She was so relieved that her senior and whoever the few others were, were okay. Momo had been holding up a tough act ever since she woke up to the horrors of the walking undead but now that she had a moment to really sit and think about it, she was bawling. ā€œIā€™m sorry..ā€ she apologised to Cassiopeia for having to see her cry. She wasnā€™t used to crying in front of others. In the past, back at elementary, she would hide or deny her tears to the point of seeming emotionless just so the bullies wouldnā€™t get any pleasure of seeing how hurt she was. Airdalen, making friends, attending a party for the first time and really belonging with everyone had changed that. She sniffed the last bit of her waterworks and continued texting, ā€˜Is Sera there? Has she been rescued from the elevator? Weā€™ll head over now. Take care.ā€™ Momo pressed to send, stood up again and flexed her shoulders before tossing her mobile phone back to the girl. ā€œCassiopeia, Iā€™ll fight the zombies okay? Can you promise me youā€™ll hold onto that?ā€ Momo asked politely as she turned to gaze at the girl. She was taller than Momo so it felt strange for Momo to be leading. ā€œYouā€™re probably older than me. Iā€™m sorry if I seem bossy.. I do respect my elders but Iā€™m just really eager to be united with my friends and think weā€™d stand a better chance as a group too.ā€ Momo picked up her dual poles before rubbing the back of her head apologetically.

Momo was alerted to the sound of something, or someone falling with a thump and had taken a new stance and attitude, turning her full attention towards the door leading out of the room. ā€œWeā€™re not alone..ā€ Momoā€™s expression became serious, her eyes sharpened and her grip on her twin poles tightened preparing to launch an attack. It was just like in the movies. When chaos had settled down, hope been delivered, there would be an attack. Of course.. Momo without warning leapt out of the room and swatted the first thing she saw hard where the head would be located. When her adrenaline rush had faded, she realised she had made a mistake and attacked a non-zombie male (Raiden). ā€œOops..ā€ Momoā€™s grip on her poles loosened out of guilt before she turned her head to see another girl with orange eyes and white hair (Mai) who seemed to know the boy she had just whacked. ā€œUh.. Iā€™m sorry!ā€ Momo apologised immediately, jumping aback as someone had witnessed her error which could start a misunderstanding. The last thing sheā€™d want would be to upset or make enemies with the living right now.

Cassiopeia

The girl who now identified herself as Momo. It was a cute name really. Something you would name a very adorable and cuddly teddy bear. She likes it very much and her thoughts were disturbed when she noticed the girl having a hard time pronouncing her name. Well, her name was really a mouthful. "You can just call me Cassie for short." She offered with a warm smile. It was the least she could do as the girl who let alone smaller than her saved her from such a twisted and gory end. Glancing around her, she could not help but feel a bit of twitch inside her stomach. She could feel that whatever she had eat beforehand about to spill forth her mouth, but, she managed to settle it down. There were enough disgusting entrails about the room to add more.

Actually, she wanted to get out of this horrid room, but, didn't want to imply. It was then she heard Momo's fingers tap through the cellphone's buttons. It seemed that Momo was replying to Kei. The name is so familiar, why is that she can't remember? She was really not good with names, but she's really good with faces, that much is certain. Well, she waited patiently for Momo to finish answering the text message, but, she noticed those eyes of Momo were watery. Was she crying? Did the text message said something terrible. Cassie immediately lowered herself to the ground as she followed Momo who fell to her knees. "Momo, what's wrong?" She started with such sincere show of concern and everything that Cassie does is nothing short of genuine.

Cassie was really not sure what is happening, but, she simply can't ignore this as she placed both of her hands on Momo's shoulder."Everything will be fine. Just you wait." She said with the most soothing voice any one could ever hear. She then pulled Momo into a warm and comforting embrace. After a few minutes, she released the pink-haired girl (Momo) while she smiled brightly. Momo seemed determined than ever, standing up and then throwing the cellphone back into her hands. Cassie looked at the device and stood as well. Momo asked her to hold on to it. She looked at it and then back to Momo with a very determined expression. "I promise!" It was rather odd for Cassie to depend on someone who seemed a bit younger and even smaller than her, but, really appearance and age means nothing. It is all about what you can do, and Cassie accepts that she is remotely useless in a fight unlike this girl who was a lot braver and stronger than her.

Momo apologized if she comes out as bossy and said she respects her elders. Cassie shook her head at this and smiled warmly at Momo. "I don't mind really!" She gave a thumbs-up and continued on. "Age doesn't matter when it comes to friendship, right?" Cassie stopped at this and looked at Momo shyly. It seemed she went ahead again which Aeon warns her about. "Uhm... We are friends now, right?" But, the answer to that was never heard as there was a sound coming from an area close to them. Cassie immediately tighten her hold on to the cellphone and swore she'll keep it safe no matter what. She followed closely and soon without much of a doubt, Momo delivered a blow, but it was followed with an apology. Cassie took this chance to look and saw two new people. One was a man (Raiden) and another girl (Mai) with white hair which was similar to hers.

More importantly. it seemed that Momo hit the male (Raiden). Cassie stepped forward and quickly placed herself in between Momo and the new people. "Please, don't be angry with Momo!" Cassie bowed with great apology. "She didn't mean to hurt you. We were attacked by zombies and... we thought you were one... and..." She stopped there and somehow, she wondered if that was a good thing to say... The guy (Raiden) might get insulted because he was mistaken as a zombie. Cassie raised her head and had a very apologetic expression on her face. "We're very sorry!" She said in a very sincere manner as she then finally noticed the other most important part. "I'm very happy to know that there are still humans alive. I'm happy you two are safe really..." She said in a very warm manner and worry, which was odd as, she hardly knew them (Raiden and Mai), but, this is Cassiopeia, and that is simply how she is.

Raiden

"W-Wha-. . ." She's awake.. Raiden thought with a sigh as his cousin overreacted with a blush followed by pushing away from him. "Ey hold on--" Raiden sighed again as his piggyback grasp eventually came loose from the tiny girl's fussing and Mai fell to the ground, fortunately landing on her bum. Honestly, we're cousins.. His hand messed up his hair as he watched Mai look around and get even more startled from the scenery than from being in contact with him. Could have been avoided if you fussed a lot less and stayed put.. Raiden found himself coming up with more and more sentences of lecture-worthy material the more his younger cousin moved about but he really couldn't blame her. He barely understood what was going on himself and had a similar reaction, if not, just more withheld. "R-Rai-d-den?" He turned his gaze back to his cousin in time to see her gesture behind him. Raiden turned in order to understand what Mai was looking at, only to sigh again at the dislocated dead body . She's going to have nightmares for a long time and like a little baby, maybe ask for company on the way to the loo. Just my luck. Despite his thoughts being complaints, he was genuinely worried for his cousin's wellbeing. He didn't understand where they were but wherever 'here' was, it was far from ideal and safe. "Huh?" Raiden turned back to where he had last seen his cousin only to find she wasn't there. It was a short-lived panic as he felt something or rather, someone tug his sleeve. He sighed again and put on an encouraging but fake smile as Mai started to nibble on her finger. "You little runt." Just as his hand was reaching down to pat Mai on the head as a sign that everything was going to be okay, something or someone had hit his head with a Clang!. In his confusion and dizzy state, he shakily tried to compose himself only to hit his head again but against the wall next to him instead. Ow.

ā€œOops..ā€ Raiden gritted his teeth as he attempted to stand upright, "A big oops alright!" he yelled angrily only to nearly fall backwards as the pain to his head wouldn't stop throbbing. "Damn." He placed his hand on his head where he had been hit and leaned forward before making an effort to observe the people he was speaking to. Oh, it's them. ā€œUh.. Iā€™m sorry!ā€ The pink-haired girl (Momo) holding two poles in her hands apologised, followed by the other female (Cassiopeia) with her who had a more mature aura backing her up."Please, don't be angry with Momo!" The silver-haired woman (Cassiopeia) stood in front of the smaller one and bowed at him, causing a light blush to reach his cheeks as he turned his head away to hide it. The bow had just reminded him of the behaviour of waitresses at maid cafes with their "Welcome home, master" greetings. "She didn't mean to hurt you. We were attacked by zombies and... we thought you were one... and..." The female paused in speech and at a good time no less as Raiden raised an eyebrow. "Zombies?" "We're very sorry!" She continued to apologise. "I'm very happy to know that there are still humans alive. I'm happy you two are safe really..." Raiden tilted his head before taking a few steps closer to the woman talking to him that there was barely any space between them. "Do I know you?" He asked as the silver-haired one appeared genuinely worried for him and Mai but he didn't recall her at all. Raiden's eyes eventually drifted to the girl she referred to as 'Momo' hidden behind her. "Well I'm Raiden, the girl with me is Mai.." He jerked his thumb in his cousin's direction before taking a step back and continuing. "And we're freaking lost. We're new students and I don't really remember anyone notifying me beforehand that the orientation would be this horrifying. I guess that's highschool.." He shrugged in a cool manner when inside he was full of doubt and alert. Can I even trust these two?

Mai

Mai shrugged at Raidenā€™s nickname for her, she was well aware that she was rather small for her age but that was to her advantage. With being so small, most people often overlooked her due to that and often mistake her to be in junior high if sheā€™s lucky. ā€Huh?ā€, Mai thought of tugging on his sleeve again but it looked like her cousin had found her thankfully. Never in her life had she met someone who panicked over her disappearing, even if for a moment.

Suddenly a body jumped out from behind a darkened doorway and with some sort of object in their hands whacked Raiden on the head. She did her best not to get in his way but also tried to help him stand least he fall over and hurt himself even more. I wonder if I could even support him? Mai had let out a small squeak at the sudden attack but calmed down if just a little at the sight of other people. Students to be exact; the one with the pink hair (Momo) was carrying poles in her hand while the other (Cassiopeia) with relatively white hair stood behind her. Mai peeked out from behind Raiden at the girls and shook her head at how sincere the other girl (Cassiopeia) was apologizing to Raiden.

Her brow came together in confusion at the word zombie. In the time that Raiden had introduced and explained their situation to the girls, Maui had figured out what may have been the reason behind all the blood and dead mutilated bodies. Itā€™s just like she said, all this is the work of zombies. Is there some sort of infection within the school? What a great way to be welcomed to a new school. A small frown appeared on her lips as her finger once again went back to her lips to nibble on. Returning back to reality from the way Raiden was handling the situation he seemed pretty cool about it unlike her own reaction to the whole welcome. And like Raiden she questioned the two girls and whether or not they could be trusted. For all she knew they might be planning on using her and Raiden as bait for whoever did all this.

OOC: I'm so happy.. I can get fancy text uwu

"A big oops alright!" The male she had hit on the head was definitely not amused at her accident but Momoā€™s attention started to drift because he had yelled it. As far as yelling went, Cassie had yelled and Momo had yelled and that action alone would attract hordes of zombies. "Please, don't be angry with Momo!" "She didn't mean to hurt you. We were attacked by zombies and... we thought you were one... and..." Momoā€™s attention returned to the group with a bit of surprise. Cassie gave off the impression of someone who was fragile yet she possessed the courage to stand between them should a misunderstanding form, to defend her. "We're very sorry!" "I'm very happy to know that there are still humans alive. I'm happy you two are safe really..." Momo stared at Cassieā€™s back in front of her, the girl being taller than her and smiled. She had only just met this senior but Cassie really seemed like a genuinely good person. It wasnā€™t every day that someone she barely knew would defend her so easily and without hesitation. It was admirable, really. "Do I know you?" The male student met eye to eye with Cassie, and Momo started to feel uncomfortable because he appeared to be analysing them. Who is this guy? She caught the male glancing at her afterwards before introducing himself. "Well I'm Raiden, the girl with me is Mai.." "And we're freaking lost. We're new students and I don't really remember anyone notifying me beforehand that the orientation would be this horrifying. I guess that's highschool.." Raiden talked indifferently despite their mention of zombies but Maiā€™s reaction of a frown forming and starting to nibble on her finger lead Momo to assume they hadnā€™t seen one yet. Raiden was also ill-equipped for such a threatening life and death situation. Even if he was male, she doubted he was strong enough to take on hordes of zombies without a single weapon in hand. Mai reacted more than Raiden to the topic, but she didnā€™t appear to have anything to say about the incident or about meeting as she continued to keep to herself and close to Raiden.

ā€œOkay..ā€ Momo scrunched her forehead in thought as she closed her eyes for a bit to concentrate. She remembered that Sera was in an elevator in building A, and she remembered Keiā€™s text message that basically said him and a group are holding up in the schoolā€™s sickbay which was in building A too. Right now, they were nearest to Building E which meant they were the furthest away possible from their desired destination. Plus there were zombies to make the trip more difficult and Raiden had yelled so chances were high that zombies would be arriving at their location at any moment. She opened her eyes feeling refreshed having clarified a goal and shared it with the new team. ā€œLook guys, I have friends who are in Building A who need help and who are also in a group of their own so my plan is to head there. Plus this idiotā€”ā€œ Momo daringly pointed at Raidenā€™s face with the end of one of her poles. ā€œYelledā€¦ so zombies will be here any minute. I suggest if you can fight, find a weapon.. actually even if you can't fight grab something just in case, anything that can harm, sharp and get ready to ditch this joint. I plan to move fast so keep up.ā€ She smirked cockily, honestly liking the feeling of being in charge. She knew she wasnā€™t voted to be a possible leader unlike the nominations but there wasnā€™t really any other way it could go right now. Cassiopeia, Raiden and Mai seemed very clueless on the current situation and she had a plan that was better than being idle. It may have been because she was used to feeling powerless back in elementary that she started to seek some power and authority in high school, but even still she knew she had good intentions. Momoā€™s smirk faded and her pole lowered at the sounds of familiar groaning in the distance of the hallway. ā€œEveryone, hurry.ā€ She whispered quietly but urgently.

Cassie wasn't bothered by people encroaching her personal space. She remained still and didn't show any outward awkwardness or shyness. Actually, she viewed it simply as a means which showed that people felt a bit trusting of her. Because, they were willing to share their personal space with her. She really sees the world in a different. The man (Raiden) inquired if she was someone he knew of. It made her think if she had seen this male before. Having a thoughtful look, she tried to recall her memories of seeing him, but nothing came up. She pouted her lips as there were no answers in her head, and sighed in disappointment. "No. I don't think so..." She started while shaking her head side by side. "But, it's nice to meet you. My name is Cassiopeia!" Yes, she could still smile even with the gory things happening around her.

Raiden, he introduced himself and Mai, the girl with the similar white hairs like hers, noted that they were new to Airdalen. In any case, she waved to Mai with a gentle smile before apologizing once more. "I'm sorry that your orientation had to be like this... We also don't know what going on..." Her face was noticeable troubled and sad as well. She remembered about her waking up in the middle of the soccer field for no reason. She had no idea how she got there when she recalled that she lost conscious on the hallways with Aeon nearby. But when she woke up, she was alone until now. She heard Momo taking stock of the situation and that she said that her friends were at the Building A. Looking at the cellphone in her hand, Momo must be referring to this Kei person.

Momo was like a general. That is how Cassiopeia would described the pink-haired girl (Momo). She really didn't mind having Momo take lead. Because, she really wanted more to be in the background than to take the front-line position. Although, she is not ignorant about it as well. She is able to when needed. Momo pointed one of her poles on Raiden's face. It seemed that creating loud noises like yelling attracted the Zombies to their location. But... "Momo." She called the younger girl (Momo) and had a warm yet firm smile on her face. "It's not nice to call someone an idiot. His name is Raiden." She patted Momo's head gently like a mother or a sister would do and then looked at Raiden and Mai. "We have to stick together if we want to get through to whatever is happening." She was also very worried about Aeon, but he would probably tell her to be strong and to worry about herself first. But in the end, she could not. She was still concerned, but she has to believe that he will be fine. "Alright, let's go." She was in agreement with Momo. "Let's meet Momo's friends."

That was when they heard some rustling noises approaching them. Cassie was afraid as her grip on the cellphone Momo entrusted to her tightened. "Raiden, Mai, let's go." She told them as she reached out one of her hand towards them. They have to move now as Momo said, and there was no way she was going to leave these two people behind and she was also sure that Momo wouldn't as well. After all, Momo went through so much to help her. Just like that, they were on their way to Building A.

Raiden

Raidenā€™s line of sight switched to beside him to check that Mai was still by his side before he returned focus to the female strangers. "No. I don't think so..." The silver-haired female then proceeded to shake her head to which Raiden just concluded she was the friendly-sort, as explanation for why she genuinely cared for the both of them. He personally believed that it was more because of Mai, since she was small and gave off the impression of a child who needed assistance. "But, it's nice to meet you. My name is Cassiopeia!" Thatā€™s a mouthful.. ā€œPleasure.ā€ He answered short and simply before looking down at Maiā€™s reaction as their new acquaintance Cassiopeia waved to her. She seemed okay, but the pink-haired (Momo) one on the other hand did deliver a strong undeserved whack. "I'm sorry that your orientation had to be like this... We also don't know what going on..." Raiden nodded, somewhat wondering why she was apologising. It wasnā€™t her fault it turned out like this, surely. Orientation was more a teacher or principalā€™s responsibility but even with that in mind, what was happening was so unreal it just had to be bigger than the school alone. He had come to that realisation with all the blood and gore. Even if there was a serial killer going around and murdering every student, someone would have set off the alarm by now, called the police, or something. Zombies huh? An epidemic..? Raiden rubbed his chin in thought.

ā€œLook guys, I have friends who are in Building A who need help and who are also in a group of their own so my plan is to head there. Plus this idiotā€”ā€œ Raidenā€™s head jolted back as the girl Cassiopeia referred to as Momo, pointed one of the end of her poles towards his face. He found it rude but said nothing, not willing to initiate an argument. ā€œYelledā€¦ so zombies will be here any minute. I suggest if you can fight, find a weapon.. actually even if you can't fight grab something just in case, anything that can harm, sharp and get ready to ditch this joint. I plan to move fast so keep up.ā€ Raiden contemplated the thought of fighting and he didnā€™t like it, not one bit. He wasnā€™t the best at physical activities preferring to read or spend his time learning something that would get him far in life. A sport just wasnā€™t one of those things. Regardless, he wanted to protect his cousin and as the only male in the group didnā€™t want to rely on women for protection. Scanning around though, there wasnā€™t much. He started to conduct a pat down search of himself for any bits and bobs that might be left from his last heist. ."It's not nice to call someone an idiot. His name is Raiden." He overheard Cassiopeia scolding her friend and smiled slightly. He didnā€™t mind the insult as much anymore after that. When Momoā€™s attention shifted to the rest of the hallway, he could figure out why. There was a really unsettling sound that didnā€™t sound at all human and although he had never heard such a sound before in his life, he was sure it wasnā€™t good and would love to do terrible things to them. The back of his neck and shoulders stiffened in alert, one arm instinctively wrapping around his cousinā€™s shoulder ready to lead her away. ā€œEveryone, hurry.ā€ "We have to stick together if we want to get through to whatever is happening." It was then that his pat down search became fruitful. Oh nice, a pocket knife. He pulled it out and flicked it open in his free hand, actually unable to recall where or when he had stolen it. Thatā€™s.. awfully convenient. "Alright, let's go.""Let's meet Momo's friends.""Raiden, Mai, let's go."

It didnā€™t appear as if they had much choice as he wasnā€™t very familiar with the school grounds being a new student. Momo and Cassiopeia seemed to have a better idea of what they were up against considering their more calm state in comparison. He looked down at Cassiopeiaā€™s outstretched hand but instead of accepting it, he urged Mai towards it. ā€œIā€™ll walk behind yous.ā€ He said, just as his head looked over his shoulder to notice the slow advancing zombies they spoke of before. So they are real.. Despite his brave act or rather lack of a reaction before, his hand holding the pocket knife lowered and started shaking as they left the building. The outside of the building wasnā€™t any better than the interior. If anything, it was much worse like hell brought on earth. There was smoke rising; the sound of gunfire and people screaming so much it hurt his ears. He did his best to watch the groupā€™s back to find his leg surprisingly hooked onto something.. sturdy. Raiden looked down and gritted his teeth as a zombie missing the other half of its body clung to his shoe, shuffling its way up his leg. He shook his leg a few times hoping for it to fall off but was unsuccessful. He regretfully, stuck his knife in its skull burrowing deeper until the monster stopped moving and fell off on its own accord. ā€œDamn..ā€ he mumbled to himself, kicking it away and quietly continuing to follow behind the others as they neared Building A.

Mai

At first Mai thought that Raiden and the other girl who later introduced herself as Cassiopeia were indeed familiar with each other, but it turned out they didn't. Nodding in acknowledgement to her introduction, Mai lowered her finger to reveal a shy smile meant for Cassiopeia. She listened in on Momo's plan and glanced up at Raiden to gauge out his reaction to being called an idiot by their self appointed leader. However when she mentioned taking up arms, Mai once again began to nibble on her finger wondering if taking up arms was the best idea. She had never been in a fight before let alone kill someone, even if they were already dead. Then again she wasn't the strongest gal around which really wouldn't help with their situation.

She noticed Raiden began a pat down of himself. Mai took a second look around for anything she could use but once again she found nothing useful. She noticed Momo's attention was no longer on the two of them but elsewhere. Following her gaze, Mai too heard the odd sounds coming from down the hall. Suddenly her mind went into override thinking up all the scenario's in which they were killed then eaten by zombies. They weren't exactly positive thoughts, heck they were far from it. Mai began to tremble just a bit and it didn't help when she noticed Raiden stiffen. At the same time his arm came up around her shoulders, instinctively Mai shrunk back. Thankfully at that moment he pulled out a small pocket knife which made Mai wonder when and where he had gotten his hands on a knife. Shaking her head to clear herself of such trivial thoughts Mai barely caught onto the last few words Cassiopeia spoke.

Mai couldn't help but wonder as to how their two new friends could be so calm. She didn't notice Cassiopeia's outstretched hand until Raiden urged her forwards. Glancing back at Raiden, then one again at the outstretched hand before shuffling forwards and taking it within her own. "I'll walk behind you." nodding at Raiden, Mai brought her finger back to her lip and followed after everyone. The outside only made her trembling worse as the sounds of screaming and the smell of smoke filled her senses. Her grip on Cassiopeia's hand tightened and she took more steps to stay close to the older girl. Hearing the sounds of a scuffle behind her, Mai glanced back to see Raiden remove his knife from a dead students head. "R-Raiden y-you okay?" Mai called out to him quietly in a worried tone. Thankfully it looked like they were getting closer to their destination when the ground began to shudder.

Cassie offered a warm smile towards the young girl who seemed to have the same color as hers. She gently squeezed her (Mai) hand to assure and to give comfort. After doing so, she glanced at Raiden and followed the path which Momo had taken. She would not be a hypocrite and a liar. She was scared and she wanted nothing more but to have the presence of someone familiar to her. Aeon... Hotaru... Her father... Her mother... Her siblings... She wanted to be with them. However, she must pull herself together. Because if she falls now, she would not have the chance to see those precious people again. At the same time, she could not make these three people around her to be worried and to even add more to their fear. So for that, she needed to be strong.

The screams, the gunshots, the horror, they were like in the middle of a battleground. But, these grounds were terrifying and nothing was normal about it at all. She felt Mai's hand held hers tighter and she responded by squeezing it as well. She wanted to give even an ounce of assurance that everything will be fine. "Everything will be fine..." She gently said to Mai with a smile. It was then she heard something from behind them. She looked and saw that Raiden had an encounter. Her eyes were filled with worry. "Raiden, are you alright?" She asked with such great concern. It was obvious in her face and the way her voice trembled. However, the response was not heard as the ground shook with such intimidating tremors. Something has happened. Something was coming.

She was alerted as she looked around and she could feel the hairs from the back of her neck standing with such stiffness. Whatever was happening or coming, it was very dangerous, very frightening. She bit her lower lip in worry. "We should go. Now." Her voice was filled with urgency as she gently tagged Mai away. She knew for a fact that they should get away from this place as quickly as possible. Moreover, she was also concerned about Aeon. Is he fine? Is he safe? Those were the thoughts running in her head as she run across the grounds following Momo who was leading the way. However, they were not able to get far as the walls near them were destroyed into shambles. This time it was not of the dead students or those zombies. It was another creature entirely.

In an effort to protect Mai from the falling debris, Cassie shielded the younger girl by pushing her out of the way. The result, she was now under the pile of crumbled rocks and stones. She could feel the pain reverberating throughout her body. She was weak to start with and she could feel her lungs were nearing its capacity to breath. She was after all being crushed as she laid underneath all that weight. Her vision was getting blurry and she could feel that she was slowly losing her consciousness. She coughed and it was very painful to do so. She could feel something coming out of her lips and it was not phlegm. It was blood. She looked to her companions and to Mai. The younger girl (Mai) was safe. That was all that mattered to her. Well, not entirely. She bet that Aeon would be mad with what she did. But, she would have still done it.

"I'm glad, you're safe..." That was all she had managed to say as her eyes closed. The pain was far too much now. She just wanted it to end and she had finally lost to the realm of darkness. "I'm sorry, Aeon..."

+ END OF DREAM +

Cassie opened her eyes and noticed that she was not feeling any sort of pain at all. Was she dead? Was she in some place where all dead people go? But, she felt something warm and something comfortable surrounding her. It was really nice and this scent. It was nice and made her feel completely safe. This was unique only to him... only to Aeon. She fully opened her eyes and pushed herself up. There she found her bed was no one else but Aeon. It seemed that she was on top of him. "Aeon? Aeon... Aeon!" If he was here, it mean she was alive, right? There was no way that Aeon would die. She looked around and everything seemed to be normal. There were also some students walking around but most were looking at them curiously and oddly. That's why she could not help but feel a great amount of happiness. She really didn't want to die at all. In her happiness, she felt her tears falling and embraced Aeon as if he was her lifeline. She didn't care if others were looking at them weirdly. She really didn't care. She was really happy. She was happy it was nothing more but a dream. Just a dream and she had woken up finally.

Mai

She smiled just the slightest at the comforting squeeze she received from Cassiopeia. Her finger back to her lips, Mai nodded a look of shy relief on her face at Cassiopeiaā€™s words of reassurance. At that moment that was all Mai really needed some reassurance that everything would be alright. Mai believed it of course, it wasnā€™t like she knew any better. Knowing that everything would be alright gave her comfort and she felt safer knowing that. Of course deep down Mai knew it was a lie, a lie told when someone wanted to be strong, to comfort those around them with their confidence. Except Mai didnā€™t realize how much of a lie it was until it was too late.

Looking up at Cassiopeia upon hearing her words of urgency was all the small girl could do is nod that she understood and try to hurry along as fast as she could. Feeling the older girl tug at her arm, Mai more than welcomed the very much needed direction. If it wasnā€™t for the white haired girl before her, and not to mention her cousin, Mai would most likely have gotten lost or confused by all that was going on around her. Looking around Cassiopeiaā€™s feminine form, Mai saw Momo leading them to what she could only assume was to safety. However none of them were able to complete that action. With the ground trembling like a madman, the walls closest to them were destroyed by a creature. It was a creature Mai knew in an instant wasnā€™t a zombie but something far more sinister.

In the moment between the walls crumbling and to this moment now, all Mai could do was watch as the falling debris heading right for her. Suddenly a force pushed her aside and out of harmā€™s way. Having been surprised by the push, Mai fell to her side but quickly sat up upon realizing who it was that pushed her and the effects of that action. Bright eyes wide with shock, mouth open ready to speak yet no words could get past her now dry lips. It took the small girl a moment for everything that had just happened sink in and when it did, all Mai could do was call out Cassiopeiaā€™s name. Her voice was laced with terror and she quickly got onto her knees and crawled over towards the pile of rubble that was crushing her newfound friend.

Tears falling fast down her cheeks; sobs racked her body as she made feeble attempts to pull the debris away. ā€œY-you said *hic* th-that everythin-ing would be *hic* fine. Were-Were you *hic* lying *hic* to me? Wh-Why did you even push *hic* me aside. We only just met so why? *hic* Cassiopeia do-donā€™t die!ā€ As she spoke her voice started off quiet but then began to rise in volume. Mai pulled away a piece of the rubble but her attempts to rescue her friend were worthless. Looking through the spaces between the large pieces of rubble, Mai managed to catch a glimpse of Cassiopeia. Just as her last words escaped her lips, ā€œWhat? Cassiopeia! Cassiopeia!ā€ Mai called out her name multiple times until her voice was hoarse. All her energy spent Mai pulled another piece of the debris only to have her only view of Cassiopeiaā€™s still body blocked. ā€œNo! and the world she once knew went black.

~Dream Ends~

The word no ripped through her throat, resulting in Mai jerking awake. ā€œWhat?ā€ A sudden surge of panic went through her as she was unaware of where she was. Looking around she realized she had fallen asleep in her chair. Taking a closer look at her surroundings Mai saw that Raiden was fast asleep right beside her in his own chair. Although she couldnā€™t remember why they were there in the first place, Right we came here to get our schedule. Mai looked around once more and realized that there were other people in the waiting room all of whom were staring at her oddly. A deep blush rose to her cheeks and she slide a bit to hide from their stares. Her eyes darting about her hand instinctively reached for the one thing that could comfort her in a situation like this, Raidenā€™s arm. Mai took some of the fabric between her fingers, scooting a tab bit closer to her cousin, Mai pulled at his sleeve in hopes of waking him up. But she wouldnā€™t dare try to speak his name; she was already embarrassed enough and she didnā€™t feel like talking to him.

The reason being she felt that her voice was hoarse from screaming, yet it was all a dream surely. Bringing her shoulders up to hide her face, Mai pulled at his sleeve a couple more times. A look for shy worry clearly expressed her feelings on the whole situation at hand. Looking up at her cousin, Mai bit her lip in hopes he would wake up and they could leave this place. I want to go home.

ImageArietta was sleeping in the car when it came to a complete stop. Her grandmother shook her, "Dear, you've got to get your schedule today." She laughed cheerfully, "You can't sleep all day Ari-chan." Mrs. Hakushiro told her granddaughter. Arietta's blue eyes fluttered open and she sat up. Rubbing her eyes the blonde laughed as well. She didn't realize she even fell asleep. A new start huh..? She thought to herself enthusiastically. Well.. bright side no one knows me here.. She ran a hand through her hair, eyes lowering as she felt the absence of her pendant, "Arigatou Baachan." She giggled before getting out of the car, closing the door quietly behind her, "I can walk home. I've got my cellphone." She reassured her, wishing to get fresh air. It hadn't been too long since the incident, and moving to a new school didn't change the fact it happened.

She kept her pace slow as she approached Airdalen high school, eyes wandering loosely over it. Sugoi.. it's beautiful.. She thought in amazement. As she approached the building she noticed it was still full of students. Strange.. school has been let out for a while now hasn't it? She shook off her nerves before opening the front doors, strutting through the halls confidently, albeit faking the entire show. She felt uneasy about starting at this new school. It was risky switching schools in high school, what if she fell to the bottom of the social pool? She dismissed her uncertainty for now, heading to the principal's office to get her school schedule. Once inside her mood changed toward the secretary, "Hakushiro Arietta... I'm a new junior and I wa- I'm here to pick up my schedule." Her voice changed compared to how she spoke to her Grandmother, she practically preformed a 180 flip on her personality. Mid-sentence she became cold, eyes staring at the secretary in a demanding manner. This is my bad habit... She thought to herself, smirking when the woman handed her schedule to her, "Finally." She scoffed, turning to leave. I'm rude to people by accident.. and I lie about things that don't really matter.. but somehow all my lies matter to me..

Arietta's eyes landed on someone she truly didn't intend to see, "R-Raiden?!", In the same room stood a very familiar brunet boy (Raiden). Why is he here..? She thought wide eyed and stupefied. She stared for a moment, noticing the small girl beside him. She didn't recognize her, but she knew Raiden would recognize her. They knew each other. Though she couldn't believe they'd switched to the same school. What were the chances of this? Why does stuff like this happen to me? This is an absolute disaster! She thought, frozen in place by shock. There seemed to be a moment going on between the two (Raiden and Mai), so she couldn't help but assume they were involved or something. He has a girlfriend?

She waited for him to say something, baffled by his presence, "What are you doing here?!" it wasn't glee in her voice, but surprise was evident. She was more shocked and angry if one had to define her tone. She even pinched her wrist behind her back, just to make sure it wasn't just some bad dream.

I can't believe this is happening to me. School sucks.

Raiden flicked his pocket knife about for a bit not wanting the blood from the zombie to dry up and stick to it otherwise, that would make it rusty, and in turn not as sharp or effective should he need to use it again. He didnā€™t know how to feel about the current circumstances apart from deep worry. ā€œR-Raiden y-you okay?" "Raiden, are you alright?" Raiden looked forward to where his female companions were and gave a brief nod response. That was all he could manage before the ground started to quake underneath them. "We should go. Now." Cassie said urgently to which Raiden started to run behind the rest of them. ā€œI second that!ā€ He replied, trying to disguise his panic when he spoke. It all happened so fast. A building was crumbling right over them caused by a gigantic creature Raiden knew a pocket knife wouldnā€™t be enough to handle, Mai had nearly been crushed if not for Cassieā€™s sacrifice and he had lost complete sight of Momo.
Raiden gritted his teeth and rushed over to analyse the debris covering Cassieā€™s body for a way to help her out before she was completely crushed under it. ā€œY-you said *hic* th-that everythin-ing would be *hic* fine. Were-Were you *hic* lying *hic* to me? Wh-Why did you even push *hic* me aside. We only just met so why? *hic* Cassiopeia do-donā€™t die!ā€ Raiden looked over at his cousin as she started to cry, as she was attempting to move the rubble with her small hands and although the situation was so dire, he was a bit happy that his cousin had made a friend. And sheā€™s not going to lose her now.. Raiden rolled up his sleeves and started to pull his own weight in helping Cassie out. He knew he wasnā€™t exactly strong or fit but Raiden just knew they would make it in time, somehow. There was no way Maiā€™s new friend was going to die on them now so soon after they had just become acquainted. "I'm glad, you're safe..." Raiden almost froze in place as he heard the girl speak. It wasnā€™t what he expected to hear. Maybe a ā€˜help me!ā€™ or ā€˜hurry!ā€™ but the girl didnā€™t even seem to be concerned on her own well-being. Mai continued to call out her new friendā€™s name as Raiden picked up the pace at moving the rocks in the way understanding that every second counted. ā€œYou shouldnā€™t say things like that. Youā€™re going to be safe too!ā€ He kept yelling over the noise for two reasons, he really believed and meant what he was saying and he wanted Cassie to stay awake. Just as he had reached out for Cassieā€™s arm, he awoke.

Opening his eyes, Raiden lazily turned his head to where he felt his sleeve was being continually tugged. It was of no surprise that it turned out to be his dependent cousin, Mai. Instead of being annoyed though, he gave her a soft smile that the nightmare had only just been, a nightmare. ā€œIā€™m up, Iā€™m up.ā€ He said before sitting upright in his chair to make sure he didnā€™t doze off again. It finally occurred to him that they were indeed in the school. That part hadnā€™t been a dream he concocted from his subconscious. But then did he imagine Momo and Cassiopeia up? He slowly stood up from his chair feeling groggy from the unexpected nap before looking behind him where Mai was. His cousin looked worried for some reason but he just shrugged it off as a ā€˜new kid, new neighbourhoodā€™ ordeal. ā€œLetā€™s go home.ā€ He was ready to walk out of the room with his cousin in tow before somebody familiar called out his name, causing him to stop in his tracks completely.
ā€R-Raiden?!" ā€œAuhā€”ā€œ Raiden let out a small sound expressing surprise as his shoes suddenly felt glued to the ground. Oh holy shit.. He stayed still in position completely with his back facing her (Arietta), not exactly prepared to see her again after everything that had happened between them last time. "What are you doing here?!" Raidenā€™s eyes wandered to the side for a distraction then wandered to the other side for more distraction but his imagination wasnā€™t good enough for him to pretend he didnā€™t hear her or realise her presence at all. He couldnā€™t just pretend she wasnā€™t actually there for real could he? He surely tried to. ā€œIā€”ā€œ He turned around slightly, his left side facing the familiar girl as he cocked his head at a head tilt angle before looking away again, a hand playing with the tips of his hair while he tried to think up an excuse. No excuse was coming up so he lowered his head and looked away. ā€œIā€™ll be attending here as a student from now.ā€ If Raiden couldnā€™t come up with an excuse, then he would just state the truth. Turning his back on Arietta again, he pocketed his hands before taking another step away from her. ā€œDonā€™t worry, Iā€™ll keep out of your way. Letā€™s go Mai.ā€ He said in the most monotone voice he could muster.
Despite Raiden not having a lot to say, his emotions were torn and conflicted. He was sure Arietta was really angry at him and even angrier to be bumping into him again. If he was being entirely honest with himself though, there was a fraction of him that was relieved. A fraction that thought maybe a part of their relationship could be remedied, clarified and maybe even salvaged. At the same time, the possibility of fixing things between them was slim to nil and he understood that her wishes were if any, for him to stay away. He closed his eyes briefly as he walked deep in thought, one handā€™s fist clenching in his pocket as a tension was awakening in his chest that he didnā€™t want anyone to read. Everything happens for a reason. I just have to believe that..

ā€œAttention everyone!ā€ Raiden looked over his shoulder to find that the voice was coming from an intercom speaker. The female voice coughed before continuing. ā€œAirdalen High would like to apologise for its most recent sleeping gas incident. After thorough investigation, we have discovered the school janitor Miss Morrison had released a homemade fragrance in the ventilation systems as a quick means of performing her duties as cleaning lady, as well as to serve her own means as she has always had a strong disgust towards body odours. Unknown to her, the fragrance also served a second function as a sleeping gas that has worked on a selection of students and staff alike. This specific concoction also possessed a trace of the smell of roses..ā€ ā€œIt is unfortunate that one of our senior students has passed away on our grounds due to his severe allergic case.ā€
ā€œAirdalen High does not tolerate pranks of any sort for any reason given. As a result, the school janitor has been fired and apprehended by the police. Due to this incident, after school clubs will also be cancelled for today. We are deeply saddened by the loss of Varthur Laurence..ā€

Mai

A relieved smile spread across her face. It almost seemed to light up her features and make her seem a bit more welcoming than she let off for others to believe. Maiā€™s bright eyes followed Raiden as he stood up but she herself stayed seated, all she could do from her position was look up. ā€œLetā€™s go home.ā€ Flashing her pearly whites at him, Mai simply nodded and slid of her seat. Well jumping down was more like it, even if her feet hung only an inch or less off the ground. Sometimes her small stature irritated Mai, sometimes she wished she were as tall and outgoing as her cousin but she knew how hard that would be for her.

Brushing off any dust that may have been collected on her bum while sitting there, Mai jumped upon hearing an odd sound escaped her cousinā€™s lips. In doing so she bumped into him and instinctively grabbed for some sort of reassurance that she wasnā€™t alone. Mai gently took hold of the bottom of Raidenā€™s shirt making sure not to grab too much so her action wouldnā€™t be considered bothersome. Looking up she searched her cousins face with curious eyes then realized someone (Arietta) was talking to him, at least she assumed so. Unless there was another person by the name of Raiden who was also waiting for their papers. She watched as his eyes wondered from one side to the other, Mai couldnā€™t help but tilt her head in sync before briefly glancing in the direction he was looking at.

Raiden turned to face this person but only enough so his eyes could see her. And so Mai did the same but it was a bit harder for her considering she was somewhat dwarfed by her cousins obviously larger frame. Placing a finger to her lips, she began to nibble on it while looking around Raiden. Who she saw was a girl no older than Raiden. Mai didnā€™t recognize her but she thought the girl was very pretty. Stepping a bit to the side so she wasnā€™t quite hiding behind him, Mai watched the two interact with one another. All the while wondering why Raiden was acting the way he was before this stranger.

ā€œDonā€™t worry, Iā€™ll keep out of your way. Letā€™s go Mai.ā€ Still in thought, Mai barely managed to catch onto his last few words and scrambled to catch up to her cousins longer strides. As she passed by the girl she paused just long enough to bow briefly, ā€œG-Good-b-ye Mi-iss.ā€ her eyes wide with awkwardness, Mai grabbed the bottom of her shirt and quickly walked over to where Raiden was walking. A shy smile played at her lips as pride warmed her insides, I did it. I spoke to someone. However her happiness was short-lived the moment a female voice began speaking.

Tilting her head, Mai paused to listen to what the intercom lady said. As the lady finished speaking Maiā€™s happiness was replaced by sadness and what she guessed was pity. To think on my first day someone would die. Rubbing her eyes Mai walked quickly to make up the distance between her and Raiden. Once she reached his side, Mai looked down to the floor her finger back at her lips as she nibbled on it. Without realizing it she took hold of Raidens fingers, making sure to hold onto them lightly so as not to be a bother to her cousin.

ImageShe noticed the surprise in his voice, her anger lessening as she realized he was as clueless as she was. It seriously is just a coincidence that we chose the same exact school? She felt nervous, sad, scared, and angry all at the same time. She was panicking. She never imagined seeing him again, especially so soon.. He didn't answer either of her questions yet, but he wasn't moving to escape either. What was going on here? She couldn't help but glare at the small girl next to him, but she ceased her gaze almost as quickly as it happened. I don't know who she is... I can't get angry with her for no reason.. She repeated that thought in her head over and over, making sure that she wasn't rude to his guest. It isn't her fault. She probably doesn't even know.. She canceled that thought as well. This is a fresh start, don't ruin it for yourself... even though he might..

He finally spoke up, after looking just as nervous and terrified as she was, "Iā€”" He spoke, causing her eyebrow to quirk as she awaited his defense, ā€œIā€™ll be attending here as a student from now.ā€ He finally informed her, causing her blue eyes to widen in shock. She gripped her schedule, chewing on her bottom lip, "Yeah.. me too..." She spoke softly in disbelief, shaking it off. Then she noticed that he was beginning to leave, ā€œDonā€™t worry, Iā€™ll keep out of your way. Letā€™s go Mai.ā€ His voice was uncaring and distant, it still hurt, considering. She closed her eyes and let out a soft breath before calling out, "Raiden." She spoke first, hesitating only a second since he was fleeing, "I'm sorry it had to be this way. I'll stay out of your way as well." He voice was bleak and impassive, but she definitely meant it, whether he believed her or not. She watched him leave, smiling at the girl who was with him (Mai), though it wasn't exactly a happy smile, "Goodbye." she replied to the girl (Mai), not offering any further attention. She ran a hand through her blonde hair, shaking her head and returning to her cold exterior. I'm not going to let him ruin my junior year. She felt more determined and confident, aside from the underlying fear that Raiden would ruin her. She was escaping the events that took place at her last school, namely the reputation she received.

She was waiting for distance between them before leaving, counting to twenty in her head, but her thoughts were torn from her counting as the intercom rang through the halls.

ā€œAttention everyone!ā€ Raiden looked over his shoulder to find that the voice was coming from an intercom speaker. The female voice coughed before continuing. ā€œAirdalen High would like to apologise for its most recent sleeping gas incident. After thorough investigation, we have discovered the school janitor Miss Morrison had released a homemade fragrance in the ventilation systems as a quick means of performing her duties as cleaning lady, as well as to serve her own means as she has always had a strong disgust towards body odors.

Someone died!? She turned to the secretary with disbelief, "If this sleeping gas thing happens again.. you'll be hearing from my Grandfather. I was promised a safe environment when I switched to Airdalen." She stated harshly before exiting, though she wasn't angry for her own safety.. She shook the thought, deciding she was merely sad for the boy who died, she didn't know him.. but no one deserved to die so soon. She opened the door to the office, paying zero attention to where she was going. That could really happen to any one of us.. It's unreal how fast a life can vanish. It's like blowing out a candle. I suppose I was lucky to be a late arrival.. not that I have allergies..

She was in mid thought while walking, something her grandfather informed her time and time again was a nasty habit she really needed to toss, she was always receiving injuries due to her inability to keep her attention on the real world. Her mind was in the clouds when she wasn't worrying about her grades or reputation. Though just as she was about to laugh at herself, she bumped straight into someone, and thanks to her fast paced strut, she fell straight backwards.

"H-hey! Who do you thi-" Then she noticed the boy, blinking surprised, "I suppose that was my fault, I'll be more careful next time." She didn't offer an apology, but she did at least own up to her error, "I'm Arietta Hakushiro. What's your name boy?" She asked the red head (Jonathan), considering she didn't have friends yet, this seemed like a decent place to start. Please don't be a computer geek.. I need positive points on the social ladder, zero is bad enough, I don't need to descend into the negatives. She thought, one hand on her hip, the other holding her new schedule. She was still chewing on her lip, still upset due to her previous encounter, but was keeping the best tough face she could manage. She was doing her absolute best to keep her lip from trembling and her attention on the boy in front of her

Cassie was certain that she was going to be scolded by Hotaru with full flames and arsenal once they see each other later. She already had a sample through the phone earlier. She truly believed that her ear was going to come off from the non-stop barrage of scolding. It was good to know that Aeon was able to pacify Hotaru. It seemed that her guardian trusts Aeon more than her which was rather odd. Well, she understands though. It was because her tendency to exceed her prescribed limits once in a while which leads to the occasional trouble. There was also the issue about Airdalen earlier on the news wave. The death of a student due to anaphylaxis, Varthur Laurence, it was the announcement which rattled the school done through a PA system.

She was saddened about this development. She has no idea who Varthur is but, it is always a depressing matter to hear that someone died, especially if it was a fellow student and also a fellow Senior. Speaking of which, she had heard that name from Akira earlier when she asked who to vote for president. She was going to vote him. How sad. He wanted to meet him even once. Her bright red eyes dimmed with sadness and it does not take a genius to notice that she was depressed. Her concern about being scolded by Hotaru was completely forgotten as she focused on that death. She wondered if the school would hold a funeral ceremony here or could she go to offer her condolences to Varthur's family. Moreover, she felt the PA announcement was done aloofly and distant in a sense. But, it couldn't be helped, right? She wasn't sure anymore.

It is true she hasn't even met Varthur but, dyingā€¦ She remembered her nightmarish dream of that brutal world and shook her head to dissipate such an image in her head. Dying was never a wonderful thing, no matter what or who goes through it. ā€œAeon, I want to go to Varthurā€™s funeral.ā€ She was walking slightly behind him as she was thinking about certain matters. They were going to meet Hotaru at the front gates, after that, she would need to do some medical check-ups as insisted. ā€œI donā€™t know him personally and I bet he has a lot of friends. Butā€¦ Iā€™m really sad he is gone.ā€ She stated as she could feel the tears about to fall from her eyes. She was rather unstable probably due to the mental experience she had earlier along with her personal issues. She knows of this. Earlier, she was happy because, it was just a dream, and Aeon was with her. Now, she was depressed because of Varthurā€™s death. But, she simply is very open to her emotions. She doesn't hide it and has no care who sees it.

She stopped from her walking and right there, the tears fell. She began to cry. She gripped tightly at the front hem of her skirt. She didn't care if she was making a scene again. Well, she did already made one where she was on top of Aeon and embracing him. It was probably going to cause more gossip about the two of them, but it was not an issue for them at all. But now, it looks like that Aeon had made her cry, of course, it was not true. Just like that, she continued to cry silently. The tears continued to fall without fail. It just wouldn't stop. She stood there at the middle of the hallways, just a few meters away from the entrance and where a lot of students were now being a curious crowd.

Image

ā€œIā€™mā€¦. sorryā€¦. The tearsā€¦. Just wonā€™t stopā€¦. So sorryā€¦ā€ Cassie managed to say in between. Just like that, she was completely unaware of the fact, that the two people she met at her dream were real persons. Because, the little girl named Mai and Raiden were coming up behind her. It seemed like that dreams are actually another side of reality.

Cassie's main pillar of support even with contradicting assumptions in this country, had always been Aeon. That's why she felt completely safe and protected, as if nothing can harm her as long as he was with her. It's why that her tears came to a stop which slowly turned into hiccups. She eased herself and took a deep breath before raising her head and looked into those indigo-colored eyes of his. Her expression was that of sweetness and gentleness. ā€œThank you, Aeon.ā€ She reached for the hand which he placed on top of her head. She squeezed it as a gesture of appreciation. She then wiped the remaining tears from her eyes and gave a small smile. That was when she noticed the people around them.

She looked at them apologetically. ā€œSorry.ā€ She also bowed down her head and even gave Aeon a set of her apologies as well. It was then she noticed the two people behind her. Her eyes widened in disbelief because she believed that they were just part of her imagination. She blinked her eyes many times before speaking. ā€œMai? Raiden?ā€ She asked with curiosity and sparkling happiness in her ruby-colored eyes. ā€œIt's really you!ā€ She smiled happily unaware and completely ignorant to the fact that they might not know her. Well, it didn't stop her as she rushed towards the two with a wonderful smile. ā€œI'm so happy to see you two!ā€

Cassie is without reservations as she embraced Raiden and Mai in her excitement. When she was done, she released the two and looked at Aeon's direction. ā€œAeon, this is Raiden and this is Mai. They're my friends!ā€ She was very enthusiastic in doing the introductions. ā€œThis is Aeon.ā€ She then looked back at the two happily. ā€œThey helped me when I was in a pinch!ā€ She declared with great admiration. Yes, she was rather getting ahead of herself, but, that is simply how she is.

"Less people, less problems... that is a fact."

How easy yet how fragile is this girl in front of him. This was the thought within Aeon's thoughts. Cassiopeia easily adapts, shows, and yet remained vividly herself no matter what the circumstances are. She is remarkably strong. It is something he sees as very admirable which he will not admit so openly. At the same time, it could also be seen as a fault. There were no guarantees that people will not use that against her. In that sense, he would have to simply be a barrier for such doings. That was some of the expected duties he has for being her fiancƩ in an essence. Perhaps, this gesture of his was also a part of his responsibility. Now, that would be rather cold, but, he knew it was not.

In any case, Cassiopeia had managed to calm down as the girl stifled her tears and met his gaze. She thanked him and squeezed the hand which he had placed on her head as a comforting gesture. This was their odd relationship. He does care for her however, it was not of romantic inclinations. This was something Aeon was certain of at this moment. They might not be of what people call love, however, they are strong enough for him to enter circumstances which he deems as annoyances. ā€œNo need to thank me.ā€ That was all he said as he returned his hand to his side.

As for the crowd which gathered around them, they were amused of the scenes. It was not every day they could see these two beautiful seniors together even more act much like a couple. It would seem that Cassiopeia had noticed the attention they were getting and said her apologies. Really, there was nothing for her to be sorry about. They were not intruding on anyone. Actually, they were the ones who were being a bother and a nuisance. In Aeon's view, they were simply wasting their time watching other people's lives. They should mind their own business. ā€œThere is nothing to be sorry about.ā€ After stating that, some of the onlookers dispersed around them.

However, Cassiopeia seemed to have found another source of intrigue and curiosity. The girl greeted two individuals specifically named Raiden and Mai from what he has heard. She seemed very happy and wonder when did she met these two. Well, he does not mind her meeting new people. It was good for her to socialize and mingle with others as long as they would not have misdirected intentions or cause trouble for her. After all, it will be a trouble he will have to solve it. It did not take that long for her to introduce him to the two. Aeon did not do anything to show acknowledgement. He simply looked at them with his usual stoic face. Nevertheless, he was interested especially when she declared these two helped her in a pinch.

What was that pinch exactly? Aeon gazed at Cassiopeia and then back again to the two. He would need to know what Cassiopeia meant exactly. For now, this is what he do for now. ā€œThank you for aiding, Cassiopeia.ā€

Mai

It seemed both she and her cousin were walking in silence, still holding onto his hand Mai diverted her gaze from those around them especially Raidenā€™s. She wasnā€™t sure how he was reacting to the news but she knew it probably didnā€™t bother him too much since he didnā€™t know this Varthur person. Or does he? her lips parted as if to ask voice her curiosity, instead she allowed for her gaze to feed that curiosity. Without realizing it the both of them had walked into a large crowd of people, instinctively Mai walked closer to Raiden so that she could pass by without really bumping into anyone. It seemed from the direction they were facing or where trying to steal glances at that there was something just up ahead that had caught there attention. Closing the small distance between Raiden and herself, their bodies brushed against each other and Mai dearly wished she was tall enough to see what was going on.

Of course she neednā€™t have worried as by the time they had passed through most of the crowd, the both of them came across two people, a tall boy and a girl with long hair of similar coloring as her own. From the looks of it the girl looked vaguely familiar but once again Mai diverted her gaze in case she was spotted. The white haired girl (Cassiopeia) was apologizing to the boy who was with her as well as the crowd. It seemed the boy said something that got the rest of the crowd to disperse, a look of guilt or maybe shame on their faces. For whatever reason, the boy scared Mai. It may have been the way he stood by the girl protectively or the air of authority about him. Swallowing a suddenly dry throat Mai stepped slightly behind her cousin.

The white haired girl turned around, her eyes wide with disbelief upon seeing the both of them. Maiā€™s grip on Raidenā€™s hand loosened until she had let it go entirely. Before her stood the very person she could have sworn was but a dream but it didnā€™t matter what she thought for it soon became apparent that this certainly was not a dream. ā€œIt's really you!ā€ Mai could only nod in her now dull state of shock. ā€œI'm so happy to see you two!ā€ Suddenly the back of her eyes began to prickle with tears, Iā€™m happy to see you too, she thought to herself. Mai quickly wiped at her eyes so as not to show her tears but she neednā€™t try when Cassiopeia suddenly embraced the both of them. At that point, physical contact was already filled to the max and so when Cassiopeia finally released her it took all of Maiā€™s willpower to not drop at the feel of being hugged in such a way. Not even her family was able to get a hug out of her without Mai trembling at their touch. The only person she managed to have physical contact with without getting scared was Raiden as was apparent with the many times she had reached for his hand.

The look on Maiā€™s face was still one of shock, her face was a beet-red and she held the hem of her shirt to hide her trembling arms. Mai looked at the floor but took a chance to look up at the word friend. For a moment Mai was confused as to who Cassiopeia had been talking about and then she realized that the friends she had been talking of were Raiden and her. ā€œOhā€ her lips forming a small O before turning into a shy smile. As Cassiopeia continued to speak Mai wondered if they really did help her in a pinch, Is she saying that what I dreamed about was real. No it canā€™t be, thatā€™s impossible. This Aeon person seemed nice enough but he was still rather intimidating to Mai. Aeon didnā€™t seem too pleased about hearing how Raiden and her had helped Cassiopeia but then he finally spoke, ā€œThank you for aiding, Cassiopeia.ā€ Taking a small step back, Mai gathered her courage and looked up at Aeon. ā€œU-um N-no pro-ob-blem. I-Iā€™m gla-d I was of g-good use.ā€ she managed to squeak out.

Breathing a sigh of relief, Mai was happy that she managed to speak before the both of them, especially Aeon. ā€œUm-uh w-we ha-ave to go no-ow, bye-byeā€ whether Raiden had initiated their leave or not it mattered not. Once the both of them were off school grounds sniffling sounds could be heard coming from Mai. Looking up at her cousin, huge tears fell down her cheeks but it was easy to tell that they werenā€™t ones of fear or sadness but the small prideful smile on her lips said it all.
