XXXX ▐║ HEIGHT : 163cm, 5'4"
XXXX ▐║ WEIGHT : 52kg, 115lbs
XXXX ▐║ HAIR COLOUR : Dark brown
XXXX ▐║ EYE COLOUR : Brown {left eye}, Green {right eye}

XXXX ▐║ DISTINGUISHING FEATURES :
XXXXXXXXA difference of colouration between Cybele's irises is the first feature most people take note of. A warm, brown marks her left eye, while the right is a forest green. Beyond the colour of her eyes, a miniature diamond tattoo is inked onto her right hand, and a small magpie tattoo on her other wrist which appears to move every so often. Other marks include a few scars which stand as reminders as of her less successful robberies. In terms of fashion, Cybele is always well dressed. She can move from muggle to wizard fashion with little problem, always aiming to look good or, when on a job, melt into the background. Lastly, small diamond studs are frequently seen in her ears, with one piercing in each lobe.

    ▐║ MAGICAL STRENGTHS
Stealth & Non-verbal Magic, while not a specific branch of magic, Cybele nevertheless is well practised in the use of any spell that has to do with secrecy and silence. Invisibility spells have long been mastered, and the witch has even masterminded a few of her own spells to quieten her already soft footfalls or to counter anti-thief security spells. And of course, all may be cast non-verbally.
Occlumency, for someone who collects secrets like others collect wizarding cards, it's become increasingly important to shield her mind from inquisitive others. Occlumency is a skill that Cybele has spent years fine-tuning to such a level that now only the best legilimens may enter.
Transfiguration, A natural talent for the subject and a necessity for disguise and concealment saw Cybele learn all she could of the art. Her studies eventually paid off, and despite an irritating month holding a mandrake leaf in her mouth, Cybele became an unregistered animgus (fully registered following her capture by the Ministry). Her form is the same as her patronus, an Eurasian Magpie.
      Charms & potions
    ▐║ MAGICAL WEAKNESSES
Combative Magic, while Belle has made an art of stealth magic, her skills in combative magic rival that of an inexperienced student. Flight is her preferred option over fight, for if she ever finds herself in a duel her ineptitude is sure to end a in quick, painful, and potentially lethal defeat.
Legilimency, Belle's deficiency in this field is a constant annoyance to the inquisitive witch. After all, think of all she could learn with just a short visit to someone's mind. However, no amount of practice is likely to make Cybele's legilimency anything more than clumsy.
Care of Magical Creatures, aside from an affinity with cats, Cybele has little to no skill in dealing with any other kind of animal - magical or otherwise. They're more likely to bite her hand off than let her feed or pet them.
Defense Against the Dark Arts & Herbology
    ▐║ BOGGART
A constricting box, gradually getting smaller around Cybele, as claustrophobia is her true fear.

▐║ X PERSONALITY
XXXXSimpering, coy smiles, flirtatious smirks, and sarcastic remarks fall with ease from Cybele Valenta's lips. Truths and lies become interwoven, and secrets are collected and passed on whenever advantage comes her way. Cybele is friendly, pleasing, and charming, while also equal parts selfish, opportunistic, and cunning, the latter traits carefully hidden by the former. She is not someone easily understood, unless she wishes to appear that way. Many rarely, if ever, understand the depths of her personality, though they are much simpler than many might assume.

XXXXFirst and foremost Cybele is a thief. Secrets and stolen goods are her livelihood, stoking the already hefty inheritance lying under her name within Gringotts' vaults. Deceit is second nature to the witch, while loyalty is a foreign concept. Self-serving and materialistic, Cybele collects secrets for self-insurance and gain, while goods for pleasure and wealth. Her actions can be planned and precise, resulting in foreseen, pre-calculated advantages for herself. Rarely does Cybele put herself in danger without future incentive, though she's quite willing to let others risk their skin for her cause, whether they know it or not.

XXXXIt's ambiguous at best where her true allegiances lie. Falsehoods fall from Cybele's tongue as easily as anything else and acting has long been second nature to the witch. Neither the Ministry nor any of Cybele's dubious contacts own her devotion, in fact the only cause that does is her own. Saving her own skin first is always the priority, and doing so in style is an added bonus. She takes pride in her work, and finds amusement in the teasing calling cards left in her wake.

XXXXFor all her negative traits, there are still many redeeming qualities that not only help lessen suspicion, but make Cybele an energetic and amiable friend. The witch can be fun, teasing, and vivacious. Socialising with others has never been an issue for the extroverted witch, and Cybele firmly believes in keeping an open mind in the pursuit of enjoyment. She'll swindle a group of wizards out of their galleons with a captivating, flirtatious smile, before shouting them a round of drinks (with their own money) and dragging one onto the dance floor.

XXXXSurprisingly, the witch can be a good friend, even if she does keep secrets to herself until they can be of value. Advice is given when she believes it appropriate, and if the advice happens to benefit herself in its execution, all the better. Feelings of guilt and regret are largely ignored, pushed to the furthest corners of her mind. Yet, to say they don't exist would be another lie. Cybele is capable of feeling remorse, she merely chooses to focus on other feelings, like the thrill of a heist or the comfort of knowing she isn't in the firing zone. She is neither evil, nor good, but lies, to her mind, in a comfortable median.

    XX ▐║ HISTORY
XXXXXThe Valenta’s are a small pureblood family who made their fortune generations ago in the dubious procurement and trade of Dragon-hides. While never directly linked with dark wizards or illegal trades, a number of coincidences over the years have nonetheless tied Cybele’s ancestors to all sorts of illicit activities. It seems, therefore, that a certain amount of deceit runs in the family, a natural inclination to cunningness that Cybele has not been exempt from.

XXXXXThe youngest child of Josephine and Matous Valenta, Cybele grew up on their family estate in rural Czechoslovakia. Her youth was spent teasing the neighbourhood boys, stealing cakes from the cook, and following around her older siblings. It wasn't uncommon for some mishap to be blamed on her brother or sister, who didn’t have the advantage of Cybele’s wide, innocent eyes or her quick tongue. Like their French mother, all three children attended Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. Cybele enjoyed attending the school, but when she was caught attempting to smuggle pixies into the headmistress' office (the latest in a long line of pranks), it was thought that a change of scene would suit her well. She transferred to Hogwarts in her fourth year, where Slytherin became her house.

XXXXXHogwarts proved an excellent school for Cybele, not least because it enabled her to make several contacts with United Kingdom-based witches and wizards who encouraged the continuation of her family's dishonest trade. She collected secrets with a passion, selling them for profit, or using them as blackmail material where needed. Goods, legal or otherwise, could be bought and sold through her growing black-market business, and with contacts in France, Czechoslovakia, and the UK, to name a few, there was little that Cybele couldn't obtain for the right price. Thievery wasn't uncommon, and thankfully Cybele had picked up numerous tricks since being caught in the Beauxbatons' headmistress' office. Nor did she discriminate between muggle and magical targets, stealing from anyone who had something of interest. Her actions have helped build on the already substantial pile of gold inherited upon her coming of age, with a larger amount to be inherited on the death of her parents.

XXXXXHow then, one might ask, did Cybele Valenta come to join the Ministry? Curiosity, boredom, or perhaps a desire to obtain more secrets? Certainly, she might claim the latter if asked, but the truth is she had little choice in the matter. Or rather the alternative was far less agreeable. Eventually the witch's crimes caught up with her. Cybele was apprehended and trialled at the Ministry. While the thief was hardly the most dangerous of offenders, her crimes against wizards and muggles alike would have earned her an unpleasant room in jail had a deal not been brokered. Her secrets and contacts were valuable, and should Cybele agree to help - by selling out her criminal acquaintances and working for those she used to run from - then she would be spared jail time.

XXXXX Placing more value on her freedom, even a freedom tied to the Ministry and watched like a hawk by its staff, Cybele accepted the deal. She was to help the Magical Law Enforcement by providing names, likely hide-outs, and various other pieces of information when needed. Should items turn up on the black market that reek of dark magic, then most likely Cybele would know the culprit and where to find them. Even if the witch has no knowledge of who may have stolen goods from a target, her own experience allows her to offer some advice; techniques used, spells cast, and where the stolen goods might later turn up.

XXXXXThe witch knows that she is still, essentially, trapped. A wrong move could see the deal revoked and the rest of her sentence spent in a damp cell. So, she treads carefully. Yet, lying has always been second nature, as has been finding ways to evade the law. If the odd message to an old contact gets out, warning them to move some of their stock, well, you can hardly blame her. Especially when she's in on half the cut.

Excerpts from the Daily Prophet:

Minister Leach First Muggle-Born Minister!
It is with great pleasure that the ministry is pleased to announce the appointment of one Mister Nobby Leach. We genuinely look forward to the great strides towards magical equality and creative freedom this Ministry is sure Minister Leach will strive towards. Appointed on this day, Friday the first of June we wait most eagerly for the Ministers first active day on the fourth. The Prophet is rooting for you, Minister!

Unrest in the Ministry
The Prophet is saddened to have to report that only weeks after the appointment of one Minister Leach the Ministry has lost close to a hundred workers. When we asked one such worker to leave the Ministry he had this to say: "It's a bloody disgrace it is! Having a Muggle as the face of the Ministry. When will everyone see we'd be much better off when the muggles are cut out of our world?"

Ministry Recruit Program a Minor Success
Despite the losses the Ministry has been facing these past months with the addition of our new Minister, Leach has never seemed stronger! A model of stability the Minister has taken the protests within the ministry in stride and with the potential uprising outside of the walls he has come together with a few other ministry officials and started a program that seeks new workers for the Ministry. Our inside sources tell us that this mission has been rather successful and the new recruits will begin on Monday the sixth of August. It is expected that with the addition to the Ministry's work force they will be able to more effectively take care of the wizarding world and perhaps even settle the unrest within London.

Summer brought with it the sort of muggy heat that had everyone indoors. The beat down upon the cobblestone streets of London and had a haze in the air as traffic slowly moved along. The large street of Diagon alley and even the shadowed streets of Knockturn were bare. Should a wizard have to make the venture outside they might be seen with a small pleasant shower of cool water showering over them as they walked. Or perhaps a fan that hovered in front of them blowing around the hot air. Despite the lack of presence outside the wizarding world was indeed bustling.

Deeper within London, the Ministry of Magic stood proudly for all wizards to see as muggles eyes seemed to slide right over it. Within the walls wizards raced around completing one task after the other. Today was the day many new recruits would be arriving, and so in preparation the eighth level, the Atrium, was being set up to receive a large number. Simple white chairs sat in rows of four all facing a large podium that had been conjured. The podium had a rather large carving of a dragon on its front and it looked down at the chairs with a rather regal and powerful gaze.

While Wizards raced around ensuring there were food and refreshments for the new recruits as well, a Minister Nobby Leach stood in his office on the First Level. He gazed out of his window down towards Level Eight and saw the tiny specs of white chairs. He straightened his robes a little and glanced in the mirror opposite his desk. He noticed his cap was a little askew and adjusted that as well. The mirror had come from Leach's old office and he used it for the same purpose now then he did back then.
"Alright you old boy." He said looking at his reflection. He glanced down to his desk and saw a copy of the Prophet and moved his gaze away from it before he could read the painful headline again.
Muggle Family Home left in Flame- Death Eaters Suspected

He thanked his lucky stars none of his family had been home at the time and made a mental note to ensure their protection. Perhaps his elderly father might enjoy Fiji. Nobby blinked a moment and then forced his vision back on his appearance. "Today you will speak. And today you will inspire young minds." He gave himself a thin lipped smile and noticed that despite only being in office for two months he was already loosing his hair.

The heat had kept her up all night, or at least that is what she would tell her family when she would venture downstairs for breakfast. In truth, the thought of the day to come and all her duties had kept her brain in overdrive. The thought of her disapproving parents should she mess up on the first day was also a driving force to be perfection itself. Gwen Andrews looked at herself closely in the mirror and lifted her wand to her face just under her eyes. Muttering a quick spell the dark circles under her eyes lessened and she turned away from her appearance. She had spent the last few hours ensuring that she would be perfectly presentable for her first day at the ministry.

She had tried on countless robes until finally settling on a soft green set. She curled her hair into soft waves with a bit of magic and then finally when she felt as if she had everything in place she descended the ornate staircase near her bedroom and down to the breakfast room. Her father was seated at the end of the table and her mother was next to him. Both were reading their own copies of the Prophet and she seated herself a few chairs down from them. Corry the Andrews House elf quickly scuttled up offering her mistress the copy of the Prophet as well and with a snap of her fingers Gwen watched as hot tea filled the mug set in front of her and breakfast took form on her plate. Without thanking the little creature she placed the paper beside her plate and glanced over the front page. There was more talk over the Minister and his Recruitment force that was to convene today.

Feeling a nervous lump in her throat Gwen turned over the paper and ignored the Ask Gerty section. Instead she focused on her food. Daintily picking up her utensils she dug in and ate a few bites. However she just was not feeling hungry. So she sipped her tea and glanced on over to her parents. She and her Mother made eye contact and Gwen sighed as the elegant woman placed down her paper and looked at her over the brim of her circle glasses perched ever so precariously on the tip of her nose.
"I take it you are prepared for today?" She asked in a regal voice. Gwen noticed her father stop reading as well and his dark eyes diverted to her face.
Straightening a little she nodded and said "Yes, mother. I've been placed on Level One as you suspected I would. I appear to be working close to the Minister." Her mother's brow furrowed a little at the mention of the Minister but she said nothing. Instead the elderly woman nodded and she returned to her paper. Pleased that was all the conversation she would have to endure from her parents Gwen stood and retreated from the breakfast room.

Once she was in the hallway she checked the time on the clock in the hallway and noted it was about time for her to leave. She gathered her bag from her room and then vanished with a soft crack. She appeared moments later in the dark tile halls of the Ministry. There were flashes of green fire as wizards used the Floo Network to get to work. Sighing a little she straightened her bag and headed for Level Eight, where all new recruits had been instructed to visit.

Once there she noticed a large table filled to the brim with an assortment of foods and drinks and she lifted her nose a little at the sight but deciding it might be rude to ignore it she poured herself a tea and found herself a seat. Already a few new recruits had arrived and she looked around wondering if she might get to work with anyone else. Secretly she hoped that she might be left in peace but she knew it was wishful thinking.

His home was an absolute mess. Clothes lay here and there and books littered the floor. Alex Gallagher looked at the chaos from his bedroom door and wondered to himself how on earth he had let it come to this. His hands were on his hips and he let out a long breath.
"I suppose we can do this the easy way or the hard way." He said to nothing in particular. He pulled his wand from his pale yellow robes and with a few intricate swishes and jabs the apartment was set to its rightful state. While it still might be considered a mess by some Alex was quite pleased with his clean up job and walked around to inspect his work. Sure the books were sloppily in the book case and out of order but hey, they were in the bookcase. Dishes were haphazardly in their cupboards and the doors remained open but to Alex it was perfect. He smiled to himself and sat down on his couch ignoring the cloud of dust that rose as his body sank into the old cushions.

Today was the day he became a regular working part of society again. No more travelling, but normalcy. He sighed a little and looked around at his trinkets that he had gathered from his excursions. Stability was a good thing he reminded himself. He stared for a long moment, thinking about his goals and priorities. Today he would become a dark wizard catcher. That would certainly be an adventure he reminded himself. However it did also mean he was required to do paperwork. Something Alex was not particularly fond of. Deciding to grin and bear it Alex decided it was about time to leave he stood and brushed off the dust. Once he felt he was good to go he stepped to his fireplace and grabbed a small bit of powder from a flower pot by it.

Speaking the name of the ministry he stepped into his fireplace and moments later steppe out of a ministry fireplace. He smiled a a few folks whom he made eye contact with and made his way up to the Atrium. There he noticed a table full of food and remembering he had not yet had breakfast he eagerly made his way there. Piling his plate full of pastries and other goodies he remained where he was just in case he wanted seconds.

"The Ashwinder is a serpent that is created from the remains of any magical fire that is allowed to burn unchecked. As it is a serpentine creature, the Ashwinder may very well be susceptible to Parseltongue magic." Elias leaned back in his desk and looked down at his typewriter. Beside him dozens of pages lay face down, filled with information on various magical creatures. He smiled to himself and felt a large yawn incoming.

As he was breathing loudly a pure white cat named Finch jumped up onto his lap to rub her face fondly at his beard. Laughing a little he leaned back and allowed his friend to nestle against him. Once Finch was settled Elias rubbed a large hand over her fur.
"Hello there..." He said groggily. Finch meowed back to him and he placed a loving kiss on her head. Not one to be left out his other cat Atticus stood on his hind legs and leaned against Elias. He meowed up at his master and then looked towards their empty food bowl.

Elias followed the cats gaze and blinked in surprise. "I just filled that..." Sudden realization hit him and he straightened sending Finch falling to the ground. The cat made a small noise of protest but Elias didn't notice. "What time is it?!" He shouted to himself. He looked around for a clock and found it under a pile of paper and when he saw the time he let out a small noise of agony. "I wrote all night!? Damn it! I have to go to work." He stumbled towards his bedroom and pulled on the first robes he found.

They were a set of blue robes and they had a rather interesting stain near the leg. Deciding he could deal with the stain late he went about cleaning himself up as quick as he could and then with out even a goodbye to his cats he had vanished into thin air. Elias appeared in the main hall of the Ministry and then suddenly swore loudly making people look at him oddly. He flashed them all a grin and said, "I uh... forgot my wand." He vanished again with a little pop and then was back within moments holding a bag and hastily stuffing his wand in his pocket. He ran quickly for the Eighth Level and found himself a seat. Panting heavily he leaned back. "Oh god I'm out of shape." He muttered as yet another yawn overtook him. Glancing towards the small table of sweets and things he smelt the faint musk of coffee and breathed in deeply as if the mere scent might help his state of mind. He wondered if he had the energy to stand but instead slumped a little more in his seat.

Michael Nott
Location: Auror's Office - Ministry Level 8 l #067330 l Auror's Office

Michael heaved a sigh of relief after finishing the extensive amount of work he'd been left to perform as a result of the recent Ministry walk-outs. One of which had been the previous Head Auror, now this itself wasn't too big an issue since the Office wasn't exactly stable even under the best of times. As such the precedent was until otherwise appointed the most senior Auror would assume the position of acting Head until an official appointment could be made; unfortunately the walk out added some extra seniority to Michael's position and while he wasn't the most senior - the work had still been diverted to him.

Thus over the past couple weeks, he'd been forced to produce several booklets to act as an alternative of the standard three year training curriculum to keep the number of acting personnel as high as possible without sacrificing too much in terms of quality of preparation. This was in addition to an increased workload and time spent in the field because of the sudden decrease in personnel - add in an extra peer review because of a dangerous alchemical substance he'd successfully recreated for the Ministry and it was easy to see that the man was being sorely taxed by his workload. In fact he'd just submitted the report on the findings of the investigations of the magical arson that most likely joined the ranks of the top stories in The Daily Prophet. He intended to use the crime scene as a way to get the newbies feet wet - complete with a potentially unnecessary request of supervision from the Beast Division since not all Auror's were experts on the matters of spawning magical creature, himself being a prime example.

Sadly, he couldn't enjoy the satisfaction of finally having nothing to do since he'd been assigned as part of the security to the Minister's little welcoming party for the new blood. This left the poor wizard to magically shrinking he latest set of booklets for the Auror's, pack them in his coat, and hobble to the lift with as much gusto as he could muster before taking his assigned station. He could only count himself lucky for not being part of the Minister's personal entourage, but the fact his was the only station out in plain sight left him a little uncomfortable...he hated being the Center. Nevertheless as a professional, he batted the unnecessary thoughts aside to focus on skimming the crowd and the faces therein.

"Miss Valenta, if you don't come now we'll be late, and..." The Ministry worker shuffled nervously on his feet as amused, mismatched eyes fell on him. An arched eyebrow and thinly veiled smirk made him fidget all the more, his hands unsuccessfully attempting to scrunch the bowler hat he was holding into a ball. "I've been instructed that you're to be there with the rest of the recruits, or else..."

"Or else you'll string me up by my thumbs and leave me to the dementors I suppose." Cybele Valenta finished, her smirk and tone indicating the sarcasm of her words. No flicker of humour passed across the ministry worker's face however, instead his brows furrowed in concern.

"Oh no, Miss Valenta, your crimes don't warrant a dementor's kiss." Came Rudolph Clearbrook's serious reply, his head shaking earnestly. "That punishment is reserved for the worst offences, perhaps fifty years ago you may have had your thumbs removed for theft, and even then..."

Cybele tuned out the rest of Mr Clearbrook's words, not interested in the least about the legal specifications regarding particular levels of crimes. Regardless of whether he had the attention of his audience, namely Cybele, or not Mr Clearbrook continued to talk. Four days she had been stuck with Mr Clearbrook, who had been assigned to watch her after her own punishment had been handed down by the wizengamot. Her punishment was a seemingly boring servitude to the very office she had once run from, due to start when the other recruits arrived.

Cybele could still smell the dank oppression and righteous justice of the wizengamot's dungeons, where the trial had taken place. She had been magically cuffed and made to stand before a scornful judge, her crimes read out and analysed, her future dictated by a group of bureaucratic nobodies. Yet, she would have preferred to repeat that all again than be forced to spend another moment with the stick in the mud the Ministry had assigned to watch her before work began. All he'd done was bore her with protocol and legal lectures. He didn't recognise sarcasm, and jokes flew right over his head. Cybele half thought that this must have been part of the punishment too, being placed with, quite possibly, the most boring person at the Ministry.

With that thought in mind, Cybele decided it was definitely time to see what else the Ministry had to offer. "Alright, let's go." Cybil interrupted the man mid-sentence, pushing herself to her feet and raising an eyebrow, "What's the punishment for tardiness at the ministry?"

Rudolph, apparently caught off-balance by the interruption, took a moment to collect his thoughts before answering, "I believe that would depend on the department. I, myself, have never been subjected to such punishment, as I am always very timely."

"Except when you're accompanying criminals to work?" Cybele replied with an amused smirk. Again, the humour completely bypassed Rudolph, and the man instead looked at his timekeeper before replying,

"Actually Miss, I believe we will be on time if we leave within the next two minutes. Do you have everything you will need for the day?"

Cybele patted down the pockets of her black robes, feeling the slim shape of her wand inside the folds. The robe she wore, black with pale violet inner-lining and accents, was one of her own. While the ministry may have confiscated much of her illegally obtained items, they had at least allowed her to keep her clothes. If Rudolph's uniform was anything to go by, she was exceptionally glad for this. Not least because much of her clothing had small pockets hidden within the folds, perfect for ferreting away little treasures here and there. Now, however, she only possessed her wand.

It was a short trip to the ministry, as most apparition trips tend to be. A soft crack signalled their departure and arrival, with Mr Clearbrook's hand releasing her arm once their feet had hit the marbled floor of the Ministry. The man stayed close as the pair made their way to the 8th floor, nodding occasionally at equally stoney faced workers they passed. Only when they found the atrium, lined with white chairs for the Ministry's recruits, did he stop walking.

"I'm to leave you here, but first..." The man pulled out his wand, and before Cybele had time to react, a spell had left his lips and what looked like a small cloud of glittering dust shot from the tip of his wand towards her head. Cybele took a step back in surprise, but the dust had already dissipated, leaving Cybele with only a strong urge to sneeze. "The tracking spell links directly to the Ministry. Your whereabouts will henceforth be known and recorded. Should you try to leave the country they will be alarmed."

"Creepy." Cybele muttered, rubbing her nose. Clearly, this made any thoughts of escape much more difficult.

"Necessary given your abilities." He responded, before his wandless hand waved towards the seating. "Please, take a seat. I am sure the Minister won't be long."

"It's been a blast, Ruddie." Cybele said in farewell, lazily saluting the man as she turned and headed towards the seating. There were already several people seated, some she might have gone to school with, others she'd never seen in her life. The witch took a seat somewhere in the middle, glancing around in amusement at all the other solitary souls seated alone. She idly wondered if any of them would be her new 'team mates', those with whom she would work with in the Law Enforcement department. While her situation was less than ideal, Cybele couldn't deny that the coming weeks would be interesting.

Mikhail Vasiliev had been up for several hours before departing for the Ministry. His early rise was not an effort to ready himself for his future career, but rather a chance to watch what had been his previous career. Specifically, he had risen early to catch the game between his old team, the Tutshill Tornados, and a rival Italian team. Given the slight time differences between the countries, Misha had one of two options. The first, being waking early and seeing the game live, or indulging in more sleep and then being forced to watch the highlights at the end of the day. Clearly, the first option won out. Misha was already an energetic soul, but stick him in an office when there's a game he's dying to watch and you'd get no work out of him.

Of course, there were downsides to watching the match. The largest being the maddening urge the young wizard had to jump on a broom and fly. And then his hand would twinge, reminding Misha of why he had been forced to leave Puddlemere United and instead agreed to take the Ministry job. The Healers had done their best, and told him that only time would tell whether those wounds would fully heal. Until then, Misha had to tortuously watch quidditch, where once he had played amongst the best.

Watching was hard, especially when the game was as close as this. But, at least there was still the thrill of the game, and the atmosphere. Mikhail lived for that atmosphere, which was why a job at the Ministry had been far from his mind when he'd left school. As the game ended and Misha began to gather the items he'd need for the day, he found himself wondering just what his new job would entail. He would be working at the quidditch headquarters, which to his mind was the best part of the ministry. So long as he wasn't filing papers all day, he was sure he could handle it.

That being said, organisation had never been Misha's strong suit. His apartment was only moderately tidy, thanks more to a few spells his mother constantly reminded him to cast, than to Misha's cleaning routine. As he searched through a few old bags, he found items he hadn't realised he'd lost. A broom shining kit, some old posters of himself smiling and waving at the crowd, an old book from his school days... but what he couldn't find was some parchment. With a sigh of irritation and a Russian expletive, Misha decided to forego the parchment. Surely the Ministry had enough anyway, and beside, he really wasn't the note taking type.

With that settled, Misha smoothed his robes down - a lovely, dark blue set with silver accents that he had been told brought out his eyes - made sure his wand was in his pocket, and then turned on the spot and disappeared. He reappeared seconds later in a small alley opposite the Ministry of Magic. With a confident smile the wizard took off, his feet carrying him out of the alley and right into a passing muggle. The muggle, a balding old man with the most hideous brown shoes Misha had ever seen, staggered back, only managing to keep his feet thanks to a steadying hand from Misha. The muggle opened his mouth, as if to say 'thank you', before his eyes widened and his lips pursed shut in distaste. Misha fought back a laugh as the muggle muttered something under his breath that sounded suspiciously like, 'Odd loon' before shuffling off. Misha supposed his lovely robes did look slightly out of place to passing muggles.

Misha shook his head, an amused expression on his face as he entered what appeared - to muggles - to be a down on its luck public bathroom. He stepped into a free stall, up into the toilet bowl, and without hesitation pulled the chain to flush the toilet. A moment later he was within the Ministry, shaking off water from the ends of his robe as he took a few watery steps. His wand was in his hand moments later, though Misha had to pause and think for a moment before the appropriate spell came to mind.

Once dry, the wizard made his way to the Atrium, where his stomach immediately let him know that there was food on offer. Attempting to stop himself from salivating over the floor, Misha made a beeline for the food. He eyed the plate of another wizard, who had piled his full with food. That was surely the way to do things, and Misha was going to follow his example.

"This looks delicious." Misha said aloud, turning a grin on the yellow-robed wizard before his attention slipped back to the food available. While his plate didn't end up being quite as full as the other man's, there was definitely enough food to get Misha through the day. With a nod to the yellow-robed wizard, Misha took his plate and found a seat beside a witch he vaguely recognised from Hogwarts. Had she been the year above him? And in Ravenclaw? No, Slytherin. He'd only spent two years at Hogwarts, and the majority of that had been on the quidditch pitch.

As he sat, the witch in question turned her head, her eyes traveling from the food on Misha's plate, to his face. Recognition sparked in her eyes, which wasn't entirely foreign to the ex-quidditch player. Most quidditch fans recognised his face, or at least Puddlemere United fans did.

"Hi there, aren't you that quidditch player?" The witch asked, a curious smile decorating her face as she lounged in the chair, making the white seat look as comfortable as if she were on a reclining couch.

"One of them." Misha replied with a friendly grin in return, before continuing, "I'm Mikhail Vasiliev."

"Cybele Valenta." She replied with a stunning smile, which seemed to grow the longer her eyes lingered on his face, "Pleased to meet you." Unbeknown to Misha, Cybele had just decided that working for the Ministry definitely wouldn't be as bad as she had thought.

Finlay moved to get off the bed, but a tight grip on his legs stopped him from going anywhere. Thumper had her head across his knees, trapping him where he lay. He rolled his eyes and dug his elbows deep into the cushion of the mattress and pulled himself out from under her iron grasp to which she let out a loud groan, and looking at him with an annoyed glance before she dropped her head back down. β€œWhere's your brother?” He asked aloud twisting off of the bed patting her side. After throwing a shirt on he left the bedroom looking Spire, who was absent from his usual spot on the small rug that lay just in front of the door. Spire never would leave that place unless Finlay were awake or he heard something, but if that were the case and he had caught an intruder Finlay wouldn't have slept through the night.

As he walked down the hallway, the subtle sounds of page flips and delicate sips echoed from the dining room, of course, this was an intruder, but an intruder of another nature. This particular intruder had dark brown curls down her back and a large burn scar from her cheek to her collarbone. "Well, that explains it." He said entering the dining room.

"You know, you really should clean this place. It could use a good dusting.” Spire was standing by her side staring out of the window while she leaned on the windowsill with her hip. The day's issue of The Daily Prophet floating near. β€œOh and I've made tea.”

β€œMother, you know I detest the stuff.” Finlay said.

β€œI didn't say it was for you, dear.” She looked at him from the corner of her eye. Eyebrow raised with a slight smirk.

β€œSo, to what do I owe the pleasure?” He asked. Taking a seat and grabbing one of the oranges from the fruit bowl in the center of the table.

β€œI’m sorry?” She asked while waving a page over.

β€œWhy are you here?”

β€œOh!” Her excitement grabbed Spire’s attention but was short lived as she started back up in her ordinary tone. β€œNo reason, really. I was merely bored, so I popped over. Now if we’re going to be asking questions then why are you still here, don’t you have a job now? Don’t answer that I know what the response will be." She sipped her tea and looked up at the ornate clock above the fireplace. "Shouldn’t you be off?”

Finlay placed the half peeled orange on the table and nodded in her direction. They’ve never had the best of relationships, but they had enough of one for him to understand her that tone, a delicate sound carried weight with a sharpness to it that could cut glass. Even though she asked a question, it was a statement as well as a demand. But demand or not she was right, and he had to get going. "Right.” He murmured as he walked down the hall back towards his room. Thumper had repositioned herself and now was sprawled across the entire bed. She managed to open her eyes for a second to see who was coming into the bedroom and immediately closed them after letting out another sleep filled groan.

Finlay changed into a black suit with a grey vest with matching grey robes and returned to the dining room where his mother was still by the window and had taken it upon herself to eat the orange he had started peeling before with Spire still at her side. Finlay grabbed some powder off of the mantelpiece while stepping into the fireplace.

β€œGoodbye, Dear.” His mother rang out as the green flame engulfed him.

Reappearing in the ministry, he made a quick brush down of his robes and slicked his hair back the best he could before it sprang back up and made his way to level eight. There were already several other members sitting around the table adorned with a variety of food and drink. He bit the inside of his cheek and meagerly muttered β€œMorning.” To those that already arrived before taking a seat.

Michael Nott
Location:Ministry Level 8 l #067330 l Auror's Office

Michael had virtually no time to sink back into a pit of self pity of his current predicament as people swarmed into the room... with one face in particular being familiar but he couldn't place it on exactly how he recognized the woman. The Auror dismissed the line of thought, if he couldn't recall the reason he recognized the woman then the reason must be a small matter and could be ignored for the time being. Nevertheless he made a mental note to watch the girl and flexed his free left hand that bore his wand in a dueling bracer for his own comfort. A familiar voice that sounded out familiar poetics prompted a switch in his cane towards his left hand as he turned to address the owner of the voice - his cover unfortunately to be blown for a matter of social protocol. However since in this case, secrecy was not required so a change to a more overt position was allowable.

It was a rare, genuine smile that surfaced on Michael's face as he clasped hands with the Under-Secretary." It's great to have you back Mister Burke; acting Head Auror Michael Nott and I must say it's beyond my talent of tongue to say how reassuring it is to have you back. After all, regardless of the whims of politics - the Ministry keeps the peace after much bloodshed from our ancestors and no one knows how improper abandoning such noble work due to the opinions of the masses better than yourself. Truth be told, the less-than-reliable substitute during your previous absence made things far more difficult for us in the field- your reinstatement clearly shows the current Minister possesses better judgement than the last." Michael made sure to keep a level of respectful formality since after all the man was his elder and also a superior. Despite the fact that the man's various weigh-ins on legal matters had saved his skin more than once and kept a couple dangerous individuals locked up despite...recent opinions on how things should be run. As he himself was only a branch member within the Nott line, Michael held no delusions that any of those had been deliberate or even meant explicitly for his own benefit. In more simple terms, despite his own gratitude, Michael felt that the man was a professional that performed his job and duties admirably - something he could healthily respect.

Still he could only inwardly wince since he'd controlled the volume of his voice less skillfully that he'd like given the noise of the crowd and his own excitement. His word just now of it being the duty of Purebloods to support the safety and well-being of the wizarding community matched his words in a Prophet interview that took place because of his family's rather well known views - he still didn't enjoy the memory of the experience. He could understand the reporter was doing his job: trying to sell a story, but he found the attempts to bait him into a negative reaction obtuse.

"Dad. Daddy. Dad."

Young Yseult let out a groan of displeasure and shook her sleeping father for tenth time that morning. She'd tried everything she could possibly think of: pulling at his outstretched gangling limbs (two of which were dangling off the bed), jumping on the bed, shaking him awake as hard as she could. Her head jolted up at the first sign of his awakening.

'Sweetness,' Piff croaked, 'can't you see Daddy has very, very important business involving... this lovely bed here?'
She crossed her arms and sat on the edge of the bed. 'What's the reason you wanted to take the job?'
'The pay?'
'No, the other one.'
'Your bloody grandparents.' Though the thought of having to prove himself to unpleasant creatures as they were was tiring to say the least, that didn't stop him from smiling at her in amusement. There was always the consolation of his shrewd, witty daughter. With one great stretch, he opened his eyes and resettled on the bed. 'Come on, then. Give us a morning kiss.'
'No. Go have a wash and go.' No movement still, only a mischievous smirk spread over his features. 'You'll be late!'
'I'm going, I'm going.' He propped himself on the bed, kissed the top of her forehead, and left the room to prepare, but not before muttering something to the end, 'Yes Mother,' as he went down the cramped hallway.

For all his bravado, he couldn't help but feel the minutest bit anxious about today's swearing in or whatever formality they had in place. Having taken so many comparably less important jobs in the past, becoming an Unspeakable was almost surreal. Having to pick out his best suit (of which he had a multitudinous two) and robes (of which he had an even more multitudinous one) for the day was surreal. Having to face his parents' warm congratulations, his sister's quips about him finally looking less like a transient wizard and his brother's aloof felicitationsβ€”all the day beforeβ€”was surreal. Having to remember to register this new settlement nestled in Muggle territory to the Floo Network was surreal.
He still reeled from it all and all he wanted now was to have a nice, hot coffee and a smoke.

The latter he was able to satisfy with a quick trip to what he believed Muggles called 'the newsagent's'. To avoid sticking out like a sore thumb amongst Muggles, however, he stowed his robes away in his coin pouch until he had use for them later. They had tobacco and some pleasant food and drink items, to be sure, but he sorely wondered how any Muggle had any patience to read what was essentially the equivalent of sitting through one of Professor Binns's lessons.
As he paid for his cigarettes with a Muggle 'tenner', earning him a strange look from the man at the till, he idly scanned the headlines and dull cover photos lining the walls and piled up at the sides of the small shop.
'How do any of you manage?'
'Pardon?'
Piff's mouth bobbed open for a moment as he realised he'd said that out loud before he quickly reached for the first newspaper he could find. 'With this, ahβ€”' He quickly scrambled to find anything of note on the front page. 'Cab-i-net reshuffle.' He cleared his throat. 'Cabinet reshuffle. Can't imagine this business with Macmillan's very good.'
'No, it can't.' The shopkeeper was still eyeing him quizzically, but continued to get Piff's change nonetheless. 'Change's 9.75, sir. Have a good day.'
Piff flashed him a brief smile and quickly left the shop to find the nearest alleyway to hide. He had had a close shave with this Muggle; he couldn't afford even more trouble Apparating in full view.

The Apparation threw him a bit too far from the Ministry, but fortunately somewhere hidden. He half-walked and half-ran the distance to the Ministry exit, donning his dark teal robes as he hurried into the atrium. He bumped into several witches and a displeased goblin who he swore hissed at him as he sped past and into the elevator.
Many others were now gathered at the agreed meeting place. Several of them had already started on the considerable spread.
'Merlin's beard,' he muttered and joined them. 'Morning,'
After stuffing a pasty in his mouth and stowing a few coconut ices wrapped delicately in tissue paper away in his coin purse, he quickly made for his seat with a cup of coffee threatening to spill over the edge if he wasn't careful.

| Location: Level 2, Head of MLE Office - Ministry level 8 | #8a3f21 | Beast Division |

Lexa slumped down into the chair across from her sisters desk trying to stifle a yawn but failing in the end. From behind Susan, Lexa's identical twin, walked in holding two piping hot coffees in styrofoam cups. "So I hear you took up that offer in the beast division?" Susan placed one of the cups in front of Lexa and she accepted it as if it was the only thing keeping her alive, taking a sip and wincing when she burns the tip of her tongue. "Always so impatient, have you forgotten that coffee is hot?" Her sister asked with sarcasm present in her words and a grin upon her lips as she takes a sip of her own coffee.

Lexa rolled her eyes and blew the top of the coffee this time before taking another sip with no casualties. "Haha, very funny Suzy." there was a pause as Lexa pondered a thought. "Yeah, I think it's time to get back out there. Try something new and something I like." Lexa finished with another sip of her coffee and Susan nodded agreeingly. "And Gemma? How's my only niece doing?" The other sister asked once again, taking a seat in her chair and looking through a pile of papers that sat on the edge of her desk. Leaning back in her chair, Lexa kicked her feet up onto the edge of her sisters desk while resting her hands behind her head. "She's brilliant! I had her sleeping over for the last three days and took her back this morning. She's growing up fast Suzy." Lexa smiled, proud of her daughter. "As they do," Susan replied smiling back at her sister briefly before returning to the papers in front of her, signing away like there was no tomorrow. "I'll pass by mothers later and see her. She still likes strawberry cupcakes?" Susan couldn't help but to smile down at her papers when the two both said strawberry cupcakes in union. "Yeah," Lexa chuckled, she still loves em."

A minute went by in silence as the two enjoyed each others company, Susan scribbling away on parchment and Lexa sipping her coffee and staring up at the ceiling spotting all the little imperfections that she hadn't noticed before. "Hey, Xandra?" Susan raised her head from her papers, taking a peek over at the magical wall clock that ticked away with no electricity whatsoever. "Yeah,?" Eyes still stuck on the ceiling. "Shouldn't you be on the eight level by now?" Alex looked at her sister for a second. It was like looking into a mirror, a mirror that had her reflection but with short hair color blonde. It only took a second for realization to dawn on her before her eyes moved towards the clock. "Bloody hell, I almost forgot." In a swift move Lexa jumped to her feet, boots hitting the ground with a slight thud.

Her hand reached down instinctively in order to feel for her wand just to make sure it was there, an old habit of hers. Once she felt the handle Lexa quickly learned over the desk and pecked her sister on the cheek, grabbed her coffee and was headed out of the office within seconds shouting a "See you later" over her shoulder. Now out and about in the Auror department Lexa couldn't help but to greet old comrades of hers. I mean they were still her friends and it wouldn't be cool if she just sped walked right by them without saying much, although, most of them already knew her so they knew how she was like. Before reaching the elevator there were a few times where she almost ran into a witch here or wizard there threatening to spill her coffee but she protected it with her life and once she got into the elevator she was able to take a few more well deserved sips in peace.

Upon reaching the eighth floor Lexa adjusted her light weight, black dragon-hide robe that she kept open in the front looking more like a coat that anything. Another Auror habit she hasn't broke yet, most didn't wear robes but what they could run and fight in. Spotting a table filled with food that instantly became her first destination. She plucked a blueberry muffin off the table and with her half empty cup of coffee Lexa sat herself in an empty seat, not noticing that she had plopped herself down next to a brunette wearing a beautiful green robe as she bite into the side of the muffin.
