Inspiration was drawn from multiple works of fiction as well as the Imagine Dragons Smoke and Mirror Album

Image

ImageImageA vampire is a mythical being who subsists by feeding on the life essence of living creatures.

Image

In folkloric tales, undead vampires often visited loved ones and caused mischief or multiple deaths in the neighborhoods they inhabited when they were alive. They wore shrouds and were often described as bloated and of ruddy or dark countenance, a stark difference from today's gaunt, pale vampires which dates from the early 1800s. Although vampiric entities have been recorded in most cultures, the term vampire was not popularized until the early 18th century, after an influx of vampire superstition in Western Europe from areas where vampire legends were frequent, such as the Balkans and Eastern Europe.

Enamored by these supposedly flawless creatures, authors around the world began to collect tales, building a reputation around the creatures of the night. Some of the earliest works of supposed fiction concerning vampires includes titles such as The Vampyre, Varney the Vampire, Carmilla, and perhaps the most famous of them all, Dracula. What was it about these beings that captivated humans so? Was it their supposed immortality? Or maybe it was rumored tragedies of love that could last centuries, even after a partner has passed?

One at a time rumors were unmasked, vampires stepping into the metaphorical light expecting to be celebrated and worshiped. Instead they were met with horror and chased from civilization. Neighbors turned on one another, families suspecting their loved ones in a terrible twist of fate. Whole communities were torn apart in the search for these creatures. Meanwhile they continued to blend, living in plain in sight among the people that hated them. They tolerated the slander and racism until finally the excitement died down and vampires were nearly forgotten about.

It was a thing of the past, once more immortals were nothing more than a work of fiction. Vampires could once again live in relative peace, no longer fearing to be ousted by their neighbors. The days passed slowly; during a lazy autumn they found the first body, a wooden stake driven through the body's chest. More bodies were found, the cause of death nearly always the same. It was the work of hunters, mutilating whatever vampires they could get their hands on. Families of vampires began migrating towards the mountains, fleeing society altogether in hopes of a safer life in the country.

Nestled in the mountains to the north is a hotel, it is extravagant in every sense of the word. Once a castle owned by the Vampire Princess, it was taken by a woman who worked as her care taker, turned into a safe heaven for their kind. Their primary clientele happen to be vampire, occasionally however, a few humans will stumble along the place looking for a bed to retire to for the night. A place where no hunter can reach and is for those on the run as well as a place where they can drop their guard. The hotel is nearly impossible to get to, unless of course you can fly and yet, twice a year some confused human finds themselves at their doorstep.

The employees are known to serve with a smile and are incredibly trustworthy. Unless of course you're human, then you may find yourself becoming a midnight snack. It is not uncommon to awake to a vampire or two standing at the foot of your bed. They have been more cautious lately though due to the amount of hunters that seem to be passing through the mountains. Now more than ever it is imperative to lay low. The hunters have been on the look out, tracking bodies and attempting to exterminate the vampires completely.
Image

Hunters || Primarily human although occasionally you can find a vampire or two among their ranks.

Sarkomenos || Vampires that have a bit of a Ghoulish appearance, they come from Crete and Rhodes.

Danag || A vampire that is not dangerous nor immortal until it tastes its first blood. Before that point they can live as humans, their primary distinction is their red eyes and pale skin.

Gothic ||They are resistant to the more traditional vampire killing methods. The only way to slay a Gothic is to crush its heart completely and scatter the remains. They inherit their power through their sires, therefore if the one that turned them was a shapeshifter then they too become a shapeshifter.

Lahmians || Lahmians are primarily female, they all descend from Queen Neferata. They have powers of enchantment which they use to influence their prey. They can be defined by the markings on their bodies that shimmer in the light.

Necrarchs || They are the rarest and most hideous of species, bearing scares whereas their kin can heal any blemish on their body.

Rules

Image
So what's going to happen? Well obviously a war is brewing, the vampire's are killing humans, humans are killing vampires, it's not pretty and neither side is very happy. So what's going to happen is that it starts with a ball, all the major Ladies and Lords have been invited and the staff are working double time to ensure the happiness of their guests (this is at the hotel).

Riven knows what's going on, she hasn't been invited but she hasn't said anything because she doesn't want her kin to perish. Unfortunately though, someone has tipped the hunters off as to the place and time when some VIV's (Very Important Vampire's) will have their guard down.

After that it is basically a snowball effect of things falling into place and an official war being declared.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Abilities are also something you need to know. Humans do not have any because they're, well, human. The only exception to this are dhampires who are half human, half vampire and they only have very minor powers.
All vampire's share distinct abilities; shape shifting into a bat (and in some rare cases a black cat), enhanced senses, razor sharp teeth and nails, and sometimes enhanced strength. Along with this they have one main ability that is a distinct trait passed down from either their family, or one they developed when becoming a vampire.
~~~~~~~~~~

The Kings || The Seven Vampire Kings used to be key players, however most of them have died or have been succeeded by younger (somewhat better disguised) heirs. The seven king's in this country were defined by their regions and each known by a very brutal measure they took to protect their land(King of the South East, AKA the Bloodied Sword). The territories are formed to ensure good hunting grounds and that there are enough humans for the vampire's to prey on. Obviously they lived in secret, but they were very wealthy and had lavish homes despite the fact that on the outside they had to appear as commoners.

The King's are the most powerful, well known, and respected vampire's to have ever walked the earth. Some were born into this power, other's obtained it by joining a King's ranks and being named heir. All have earned the title one way or another.

~~~~~~~~~
Other Information || Children : When two vampire's love each other very much, they get busy and have a baby. Normally the child takes after the more dominant species, so if a Danag and a Gothic make love, the child will almost always be a Gothic.
When a human and a vampire get busy, the child almost always dies. Once in a blue moon though, it will stick and the female will become pregnant. When this happens, the child becomes a dhampire. Sometimes they can surpass the abilities of both parents when in fight or flight mode, but most of the time they appear to be weaker versions of vampire's that can tolerate limited amounts of human food.
Being Turned || So obviously the vampire drinking has the decision as to whether or not they would like to turn someone. There are two ways to do this: the first is to make them drink your blood. This is normally the most convenient method because it is very easy to force someone's mouth open and to make them swallow.
The second option, the harder of the two, is normally used on lover's in dire circumstances. The vampire would have to bite the human (does not matter where, can be on hand, neck, shoulder, etc) and focus all of their energy into the human's body. This method is reserved for extreme circumstances where one is no longer able to swallow and almost past the point of saving.
~~~~~~~~
Turning Process || Obviously changing all at once would be a bit overwhelming, that's why the body start to slowly adjust. The first twenty four hours are normally full of excruciating pain due to the fact that you are technically dead and yet still walking around as though you are living. Vampires don't have to breathe, but most do out of instinct; young vampire's are taught to inhale and exhale in order to blend in, in the human world.

Normally the first change they will notice is their complexion. Unless they are a day walker they will turn deathly pale, almost sickly looking. After this the fangs come in and depending on the type of vampire any other attributes starting from the top of the body to the bottom will be noticed.

|| Till The Day we Die || Pagan Fury ||

They were going to have to get a bit more serious then. Iflet sighed, shaking her head. What a hassle, seriously. The Princess was for some reason throwing her lot in with the humans. It truly was unfathomable, yet she knew all the same that it was going to be a problem. At least they had an answer now as to why Baroness Kitra was unable to retrieve the Princess earlier this week. She looked to the side, allowing Nifa to give her tea. "I'll go give our instructions to the servants." Iflet said with a nod, allowing her brother to continue ruminating with Athena as for their next course of action. Directly under Iflet were four talented vampires who she knew were going to have a future provided they listened to her orders. They all were recent conversions, but unlike most, they had distinguished themselves with their skills.

In Iflet's servant hall her four Officers were waiting for her. She gave them a wave, and the cute one ran up to her expectantly, nuzzling her leg. "Yes yes, here's some candy for you, Sweet." Sweet's mouth curled up cutely and she bit the candy out of Iflet's pocket, unwrapping it with glee. "Show a little dignity." Alty snapped, hands in his pockets. "That's now how an Officer should act." Sweet giggled, sticking her tongue out, flaunting her adorableness in her lolita-style dress. "It's absolutely how an officer should act? Why shouldn't I get to be myself?" Alty was always such a suck up, wanting recognition. He was like a neglected dog in a way and Iflet could only enjoy his loyalty. "Lady Iflet deserves more respect than that, Sweet!" Alty looked at her with shining eyes, as if expecting praise for his kissing of her butt.

Gregore eyed her from his magazine about celebrities from a few decades ago. The magazine was still in surprisingly good condition, Gregore always took great care to preserve all of his possessions in mint condition. "If you're here to see us, Lady Iflet, does that mean there's a mission?" Julia was sitting next to him, watching him read. She was quite a unique one, being a former Tower Agent and the only one that did not resist. At first it was due to the threat of turning Viola but now she truly was a loyal servant like the other three. "Are we going to try to take the princess?" Julia asked inquisitively. "I'm not sure we're capable of that yet, Lady Iflet." Compared to Alty's glory hogging and Sweet's love for only candy and nothing else, these two were the brains of her Officers. "Yes, my Lord Brother made his proclamation. He requires that the lost Princess be returned to where she belongs."

Iflet produced some photos of choice individuals. "These four are the demi-humans. I believe we should assassinate them one by one, while they're distracted fighting the main army." She distributed the photos out, allowing each of the four to decide on their own target. "This one looks cute." Sweet said, licking her lips. "Poor thing doesn't eat nearly enough." Gregore took a photo, looking curiously at the person it depicted. "This child looks as if he's barely holding onto responsibility." He sighed, almost looking weary. Julia took a picture, staring at it silently. This target was one she was going to have to kill, if only to save her from slavery to the humans. If only she knew the humans would turn her into an abomination like that, she wouldn't have smuggled her out of the Castle. "Heh." Alty snickered. "This brat tries way too hard to look tough."

They would each be responsible for their own assassination, but Iflet knew one way or another they were probably going to have trouble. "Just remember to survive. It's better to fail and escape with your life than succeed but die, okay?" These were her valuable servants, Iflet was not going to let rabble take them away from her. "Of course." Gregore said, his voice full of conviction. "I won't let any of my comrades die." The meeting was over as quickly as it began. "Thank you." Iflet smiled, turning to leave. "Due to a certain spy we know they'll be heading to the Rhine Front soon. Gather information carefully and make your plans well." She closed the door, interested to see what would happen now.

The top of the Eiffel Tower was breathtaking. Even with the eternal winter, or perhaps because of it, Paris's skyline was remarkably beautiful. One half of the city was an urban sprawl, full of buildings and houses for people to live in, for business to run. The other half of the city, the Eastern half, was dedicated for the military to store vehicles and weapons and other supplies, as well as their troops at Vercingetorix. "It's really high up." Viola said with a grin. Dominic was admiring the view as well, finger stroking a heart shaped locket dangling from his neck as they gazed at the world around them from way up high. "Hope the elevator didn't hurt your poor tummy like last time, my adorable wife." Dominic sighed, rolling his eyes. "You probably shouldn't call her your wife like that, Vi." He chastised her, being the responsible one of the four. "I don't think Riven likes it."

Vi grinned impishly, nuzzling her partner's cheek with her own. She was very touchy with her vampire, and maybe there was something wrong with her but Viola couldn't help but see vampires as innately beautiful. There was something about them that just drew her gaze and would not pull away. "Look how cute she is. I can't help it, she's too adorable for me to resist!" She pulled Riven in for another deep hug, blushing sightly. "Isn't she supposed to be a bloodthirsty and fearsome vampire?" Dominic tried to remind her but it was clear Vi was too far gone. "Just flick her on the forehead if it bothers you, Riven." Dom offered advice to his fellow teammate. "I trained her to stay in control of her impulses with forehead flicks." It kept her from going off the rails many times during their training. "Hey, don't tell her my weakness!" Vi covered her forehead with both hands, sticking her tongue out.

|| Burn || Hamilton ||

Many a book had been written about the unique beauty that vampires possessed. What with their pale skin and red eyes, it was easy to see how one might become enthralled by their looks. Riven had never found herself to be beautiful, in fact she thought herself to be quite strange to behold. What with her short stature and flat chest. There were others who were far more beautiful than she. Others like Athena, who stood tall and proud, who could move with the grace of a ballerina. If it was beauty they wanted, they should look to demons and faeries. Why, even the rumored witches were said to be far more beautiful than any creature on earth had business to be. Riven had never seen a witch, she had never met one, but she wished that she could.

The wind whipped through her pink hair, this high up, they could see the whole of Paris. "I hate that thing," Riven murmured when Viola asked how she had fared in the elevator this time. What was wrong with stairs? Sure the elevator was faster and took less effort, but Riven would much rather not take the risk of that box breaking and them plummeting to their death. Viola's arms found themselves around her, nuzzling her cheek against Riven's. The vampire had learned to bear it, besides, Viola was warm whereas Riven was always cold. :I don't, but it doesn't much matter what I like." She had already requested that Viola not call her that, but seemed to be largely ignored.

After all, Viola was the Master here, she could incite her orders however she wished. Viola released her, only to pull her in for another hug. "I'm not cute," Riven grumbled. That's right, she was a terrible and fearsome vampire that had killed more humans for less. She was a Princess, destined to rule the Vampire world and instead she was collared and pulled around by the humans. Riven ran a hand through her hair, tucking a strand behind her ear. A forehead flick would stop it? Riven grinned, "Alright, next time I'm going to use that." A flick was not something she was familiar with though, she would need someone to demonstrate later on, as she didn't want to use it unnecessarily.

"Let's go, I've got a surprise," Dominic winked, leading them back to the box of death. Riven swallowed as they stepped inside, the box beginning to lower. She tensed, grabbing onto Viola's arm as it moved, albeit rather slowly. She clenched her jaw, not releasing Viola until the doors opened once more and Riven breathed a sigh of relief. "I hate that thing, I hope there are none on the battlefield," Riven murmured as she followed after Dominic and Vi. Their leader led them across the street and to a small cafe, where beautiful pastries sat in a display case. Riven's eyes widened, "I noticed you liked desserts," well rather, Lorraine had noticed and had given Dominic the address. Viola liked sweets too, considering she would eat all of the frosting off of a cake if they let her.

"Get anything you like."

|| Till The Day we Die || Pagan Fury ||

Today was a lazy day and it was odd to have the day off but it was nice too. Vi didn't mind the break, it was almost a fake peace that she would get to enjoy. It wouldn't be long until the peace was broken, since tomorrow the real deal was going to begin. Even so, why not explore the city before Riven had to leave it in the end? "Did anyone tell you why it's snowing?" Viola asked suddenly, curious. She was still shielding her poor forehead from anticipation of the cruelest flick of all but it didn't come, Riven did not seem to want to use it yet. "Because really, it's only October, it shouldn't be snowing yet." Most of the story had been hushed up but even so, it was still good to know about it.

"It's because of the Goddess, the girl who bears the Light Seed." Did Riven know about that, or was it a secret even Vampires were barred from knowing about? Well, it was too late now, wasn't it? "A few years ago she killed herself, having never recovered from being abducted and abused by a cult. Ever since her suicide, the Earth had been draped in snow, as if the Heavens themselves are crying for her." Viola rolled her eyes. The Soldiers of Light had one job, and because they were incompetent idiots, everyone was going to suffer because of them. "We'll do our job." Viola said with a crafty scowl. "We'll kill the Vampire Lord and the rest of humanity better do their parts too." It was up to Tower to put an end to the Third Impact once and for all, and that would happen after Berlin is taken back and Barons Messaiah and Kitra are deafeated.

Enough of all this doom and gloom, Dominic had a surprise to show them. He always was the type to prepare little surprises for people, wasn't he? Vi decided she would let him do it. "You're gonna spoil her." Vi pouted, wriggling. "You should spoil me too!" Dominic tapped her on the head with his fist. "I think Riven deserves a little spoiling, but you're a little too indulgent, aren't you?" She grinned. "Stop using big words you troglodyte." The two continued to bicker a little until Dom took them to their destination, a pastry shop full of sweets, waiting for their consumption.

It all smelled delicious, Viola could tell without even having to open the door. "Let's go, let's go! Oh, but don't eat in front of Elise, she's allergic to yummy stuff or something." Naturally all the Blood Pact knew each other's pasts and stories, it was part of the reason why they were all so close. "The creme brulee flan is mine." She had already claimed the prize for herself. "I suggest trying macaroons, you might like them." Dominic smiled, glad they were enjoying this. "Let her decide, this is an opportunity of a life time to have whatever she wants." Usually Riven just had to eat whatever was on the menu but now, she had the power to pick for herself. "Since Dom's paying for us, you should take everything and charge his account!" Vi offered, clearly wise advice. Naturally Dominic was buying time for Elise and Doll to make dresses, for Jacob and Christopher to advertise the fashion show, which would be set up and waiting for them. Elise's wish of course, was to become Doll's apprentice in clothes making, because she always loved sewing and making cosplay and wanted her own brand one day. Jacob's wish was the right to duel Christopher whenever he wanted, which Chris was more than happy to grant.

|| Burn || Hamilton ||

Riven shook her head, she had never heard of this supposed Goddess. "I don't know what the date is, no one tells me anything." Riven only knew the time of day from the sun. She had assumed it was winter, considering the snow that sprinkled the ground. It hadn't seemed odd to her, but now that she knew it was only October, it was rather strange that it was snowing. From the top of the building, she could see that the trees had the colors of fire and yet, the powdery white substance was drifting from the sky. Riven looked upwards, wondering why such a strange thing was occurring. There were early snow falls, but never hard enough to stick. Riven tilted her head to the side in question, listening as they walked.

"A light seed?" Riven tapped her chin in thought, Dominic explained it, it seemed Viola held a grudge against those who were supposed to protect and failed the Light Seed. "When I was a child, we used to tell stories of a glowing girl." Riven srunched up her nose in thought, looking up at the sky as she attempted to recall the story Athena had told her centuries ago. "There was a girl in the woods. No one knew who she was or where she had come from, but sometimes, when things were amiss and the miasma became thick enough, she would appear." Riven jumped out of the way of a child on a bike who had nearly run them down. "They say that the animals would protect her, they would guide her to the trouble and she would sing a lullaby that rid the world of the miasma. Then, in a flash of bright light, she would disappear."

Riven had to wonder if they were the same girl. They reached the surprise Dominic had arranged for them, Riven's eyes widening. She entered the shop, the smell intoxicating. "Everything looks so good," her mouth was watering at the sight of the beautiful, delicate pastries. "Elise doesn't like sweets?" Riven inquired, wondering if that was it. Viola had picked what she wanted quickly, her made seeming made up. Riven had no idea what she wanted, as these were the fanciest, most delicate pastries she had ever seen. "I don't know, it seems cruel to charge Dominic because my eyes are bigger than my stomach." Dominic nodded his head in appreciation, sighing in relief.

"I'd like one of those please," she pointed to the pastry called a Napoleon. "You can get one more," Dominic nudged her, "my treat." Riven bit down on her lip, "a box of macaroons?" Since Viola seemed to fancy them as well and she could share. Dominic pointed to the box and paid for their goodies. "We can eat these on the bench," he steered them outside of the shop, to a pink bench situated just to the side of the door. Riven opened up the box, the sides falling down to reveal the crisp layers of puff pastry, supple custard, and chocolate ganache gracing the top. "It's too beautiful to eat," Riven's fangs glinted in the light of midday. Dominic handed each girl a fork so that they wouldn't make a mess of things.

❝No, that's my candy, so only I can have it.❞

ɗιαƖσgυє cσƖσя:#a10d17 ♙ тнσυgнт cσƖσя #8c8987

|| Till The Day we Die || Pagan Fury ||

Poor Riven, always out of the loop. "If there's anything you want to know, just ask me and I'll probably tell you." Dominic told Riven, since he knew what it was like to know nothing and have no one be willing to tell you anything. "You can ask me too you know." Vi's voice came out in a lazy drawl. It was chilly out, but it was always cold so it wasn't as if she cared one way or another. The snow was an enemy both sides of the war would have to deal with. "Though I guess once she tried to ask but I couldn't hear because the bikes were so loud." She winced, remembering the roar of the engines of that day. It was embarrassing, really.

Riven's story was interesting. In the end there was no way to know one way or another, but it was nice to think that they were one and the same, yet another attempt at a girl to ascend to becoming the Goddess. Of course Irina Shoku was not that girl from centuries in the past, but maybe they were a part of the same mythology. Vi put aside the complicated thoughts because Flan was here, waiting for her to consume! "This is so good! Here, have a bite!" She took the fork she already ate from and stabbed it in, taking a forkful of the almost pudding susbtance known as flan, shoving it into Riven's mouth. A fake blush rose on her cheeks and she grinned. "Wow, how naughty, that was an indirect kiss! You're so bold, Rivie!" Did she play around too much? Maybe... but Vi felt she was allowed to, given her circumstances.

"Let's share the box of macaroons together." The napoleon was a nice choice of course, looking quite scrumptious. Sadly, it wasn't as good as her flan, the subtly sweet savory pudding custard that looked almost like a pancake, there wasn't quite a sweet like flan. "Hey." Dominic put his hand over Riven's shoulder, moving gently for a shoulder pat, slow enough so as not to startle her just in case. "I know your position sucks, but I hope despite that, you and I can be friends." Viola stuck her tongue out yet again. "Riven barely ever calls me a friend, sheesh!"

After the visit to the pastry shop, showing off one of the delights France was so famous for, it was time for another way to waste the time away. "I have tickets to a show." After the Third Impact in London, the local Parisian theater became more popular, gaining more traffic and business. "It's Broadway. An old musical, but they'll be doing Hamilton." Oh, right, Riven probably didn't know what a broadway was. "They're like live theater performances with lots of songs." Vi explained to Riven's benefit. "It's real life actors, so it'll probably be more your style." Would she say yes?

"I just thought those things were supposed to be kept confidential." Riven shrugged, she hadn't thought twice about the fact that no one ever gave her the date or time of day. Dominic offered as well, it seemed he felt bad that Riven was in this position, almost as though he knew what was it was like. He could very well, Riven did not know Dominic's past and she was in no position to judge. Still, he was living a much better life at the moment than she. He was not bound by silver chains that were kept on purposely to weaken her. He was not looked at with horror whenever he walked down a hallway, he did not have a bell around his neck to warn others of where he was.

They could pretend to be friends all they liked, but had Riven not been forced to work for the humans, he would not be treating her to pastries. She unwrapped the delicate box, revealing the gorgeous pastry within. She stuck her fork in eagerly, taking a bite. It was sweet, the custard not overly so. The thin layers of puff were crispy and melted on her tongue while the ganache made it just sweet enough. She relished the taste, her legs swinging, as they were too short to reach the ground when sitting on the bench. "It's so good," Riven placed her cheek against her palm dreamily, smiling to herself. Viola wanted her to taste her pudding and Riven stuck her fork into the Napoleon, figuring that Vi wanted a taste.

She coughed when Viola declared it an indirect kiss, nearly choking on the pudding. Alright, it was time. Riven flicked Viola's forehead and promptly took her fork back, handing Vi her own utensil. "You've lost your Napoleon privilege," Riven declared, scooting away from Viola to finish it up herself. Still, Vi wanted to share the box of macaroons. "Fine," she murmured, Dominic opening it to pass them around. They were citrus flavored, so delicate that if you squeezed too hard the shell would crumble in your fingers. Dominic reached around, patting Riven's shoulder. She jumped, turning to face him, wondering what he wanted. He hoped that they could become friends.

Once more that sense of peace settled over her. Riven did not deserve it, she did not deserve any sort of happiness or kindness. She was a murderer, she was an enemy. "Thank you Dominic," she ate the rest of her macaroon, prepared to return to the VH. Instead, Dominic had another surprise in store. "A stage play?" Her eyes lit up eagerly. "I know what they are, I've seen many before." Only, how would they differ from her time? Riven followed after them eagerly, wondering what this Hamilton was; as the States had become colonized after her time. "What are you waiting for? Let's go!"

Right as she didn't expect it, the flick came, an act of true violence in the form of fingers whacking against her forehead. Immediately as if like pressing a button on a robot Viola whimpered and covered her forehead, pouting as she sank back into her seat. The training had been effective and it was probably thanks to that, to a large part, that she was still alive today. "Feel free to use that whenever necessary." Dominic said, looking satisfied that the silly girl's antics would be put on hold for the time being. Viola spent the rest of the time eating her flan with a sullen expression, tears in the corners of her eyes almost a permanent fixture on her face, but at least she was at last quiet.

Unluckily for Riven, it didn't last forever and Viola found herself talking again when it was time for Dominic to unveil their next time waster in order to allow Lorraine more time to get everything prepared for the faux runway back at the Vercingetorix Hall. They would be watching Hamilton, a historical musical about the life of a man named Alexander Hamilton, one of America's founding fathers. "Do you know what an America is?" She grinned and snickered, wondering if Riven knew of such a place. They charged Dominic's card and got walking. It wasn't a long walk, and a brisk stroll through the cold eternal winter wouldn't kill them. "It was founded when they fought back the Brits who tried to maintain control of the colony in the New World." Wasn't there a war or something about tea? Viola wasn't the most knowledgeable about history, because well, what good would knowing history do when killing vampires anyways?

The theater hall was well cared for and Dominic flashed the tickets to the concierge at the front. He directed them inside to register their tickets of course, and there were people standing outside the inner doors, ready to take the stubs. Around the entrance lobby were places where snacks would be sold for those who wanted to watch the performance, as well as posters of the Broadway Group that would be performing the show. "The stars are kind of well known. Alex Hamilton is being played by Hector King, and his wife, Viela King, is playing Eliza." Apparently they were planning on having trying for a child and moving to Japan after this was done and that the child's name would be Susie if a girl and Xavier if a boy. "This is their last performance." Dominic added.

They presented their tickets and had the stubs torn off and then took seats near the front to watch the show. It was a mix of singing and rap for each song and the life and trials of Alexander Hamilton were interesting for sure. Viola was kind of childish though and preferred anime or cartoons, but that was her. Dominic looked engrossed in the whole thing, even crying himself when "Tomorrow There'll be More of Us" was sung. Viola yawned, trying not to look rude, glancing at Riven to see how she was holding up.

"America?" Riven blinked, she had no idea what an America was. The British had tried to colonize another country? Somehow it didn't surprise her. Riven shook her head and sighed, "Those Brits and their lofty goals." So this New World was America then? Riven nodded as she listened, it was easy to remember. This was another lesson of catch up, it seemed. Still, she was glad for it. Riven did not feel bad as she followed them to the large, opulent theater with its blinking facade and line around the corner to get in. She walked a bit faster, glares following her wherever she went. It was to be expected, of course, as Riven stuck out like a sore thumb. What with her red eyes and pointed ears, not to mention her fangs that were visible whenever she spoke.

She sat down between Viola and Dominic, the chairs large and covered in plush velvet. "King?" Riven raised a brow, "I assume of no relation to Doll and her sisters?" Were these humans or demons that would be putting on a stage performance? The lights began to drop, the orchestra warming up. Riven jumped at the sudden burst of sound, recalling that in this day and age they listened to a different kind of music. No longer was it only operatic or simply instrumental, but there were words. She leaned forward in her seat, at first unimpressed, but then slowly became enamored in the story line and the characters.

When it was over, Riven found herself standing to clap with the rest of the crowd, her smile wide. It was no doubt the largest, most genuine smile she had flashed since awakening. "I think it's about time to go back," Dominic checked his watch. "Do we have to?" Riven inquired, "If we ran away now, no one would ever know." Dominic only shook his head. "We can't run away, not as long as we need their medicine." Was Riven wrong, or was there a slight bit of resentment in Dominic's voice? She glanced at Viola, wondering what this one's dark past was. Perhaps she would ask about it later. At first, she had detested the idea of running away with Viola and turning her into a vampire, but if she could convince more of the human's demonic weapons to leave...

They might just have a chance. As it stood, they would believe Riven to be the enemy if she and Viola left. They would not hesitate to take both of them out. If she took all of the demon children and disappeared with her castle, they would have double the chance of killing Gayvn and Iflet and then they could at last be free of the bond that tethered them to this place. The only issue would be that candy they all needed to eat. Unless Riven could come up with some sort of solution. Oh and the fact that they would suddenly all become the enemies of man.

Oh, how nice it would be to be able to escape. Even after the play was over, Riven wanted to run away too. It would be so nice, wouldn't it? What if by becoming vampires they no longer needed the medicine anymore? Wouldn't that be something wonderful? "Hey, don't forget this." Dominic looked slightly annoyed at her as he picked up her bag of candy from the seat in the theater. Viola grinned, accepting the forgotten gift. "Hehe, whoopsie!" Dominic sighed, seeming tired after the long day of babysitting. "It's not a whoopsie, you could - well, it doesn't matter. Riven, make sure she doesn't lose this, okay?" Vi snickered, findin this to be a little bit funny at least. "But you're always around to pick it up so I have nothing to worry about." Dom flicked her head. "You have to be responsible for your own medicine."

But that's boring, why would she want to worry about the dumb things all the time anyways? Oh well, there was nothing to be done about it now. They had to go back home now, even if the three of them were a bit reluctant to leave somewhat peaceful Paris behind for the battlefield at the Rhine Riverfront. Once there, everything would become more serious than they already were. "Well, time to go back." Dom said, leading the way. He took Vi by the hand, more or less forcing her to follow along and he seemed to trust that Riven would obediently walk with him to the bus that would take them back to Vercinvetorix Hall. He looked at his watch, tapping his foot. "It's almost time, we gotta hurry." Almost time? Was there something going on? "He's so silly." Vi flapped her hand. "He thinks he's pulling a surprise party for you? We already know the surprise, Rivie, but you should pretend at least, okay?"

Back home, what happened was, in fact, not a surprise party. It was the opposite of a surprise party as Doll and Elise grabbed her, both girls dragging her into the fashion room. "Hey! Wait! You conspired against me!" Viola cried helplessly as she was pulled in to be dressed up all nice and fancy for the makeshift runway Lorraine had set up. People were watching, some out of respect, some because they wanted to see what sort of antics the Elites were up to now. They were kind of like the celebrities of the Hall to the normal hunters, that much was certain. "Sorry you have to deal with her all the time." Dom made a shrug in Riven's direction. "Thank you for convincing Lor to do this. Shall we find good seats?"

"You're so much trouble." Doll said flippantly as she did the makeup. Elise was taking care of the hair, making it pretty and silky smooth with conditioner and product. "So short, but you can't wear heels to give yourself more presence, whatever are we going to do with you." Elise was kinder as she held Vi still for Doll to apply the powder. "So we had to raise the height of the platform you'll be walking on." Elise smiled gently. "Just wait until you see it!" The first dress looked somewhat egyptian as well as red and as Viola was forced to strut onto the runway she realized the runway was a raised platform with steel bars to hold it up, raised above so that the onlookers had to look a little up to see her, but not so far high that she looked distant. It was an effort to make up for the lac of height and hopefully it would succeed.

It was fake, it didn't matter at all.

But still, Viola did her best to walk straight, to not fall, to not smile. Her body was a canvas to show off the dress after all.

Riven grinned as they returned, placing her hands on her hips. "I told Lorraine to go through with it, but I didn't think they would." Riven had to admit, this was a rather impressive display. She watched as Elise and Doll grabbed onto Viola, dragging her away from the runway and towards the the preparation room with Elise. Riven waggled her fingers as Viola was taken, still a bit on a sugar rush. "Hey, where have you guys been all day?" Jacob inquired as he swaggered over, hands on his hips. "The theater, bakery, and Eiffel Tower," Dominic replied without skipping a beat. "Oh? Date? You know humans and vampires are a big no, no, right?" He waggled an eyebrow. "I wouldn't dream of dating Viola's wifey," Dominic replied with a good-of-heart sort of laugh.

"Wifey? Is that what she's calling you now?" He glanced at Riven, there was sweat on his forehead, his cheeks were still flushed. "You were fighting Christopher, weren't you?" Riven inquired, purposely diverting the topic. Jacob stiffened, then slowly nodded. "Did you win?" He scratched the back of his neck, slowly shaking his head, which then hung in shame. "No, he's too damn strong. Tch, legendary weapon and a babe that can possess it." So vampires were off limits, but demons were the exception? How very strange. Never mind that, the show would be starting soon. "I want to sit in front," Riven tugged on Dominic's sleeve. "Alright, let's grab seats then." This way Riven would have no one blocking her view of the show. She had never been to one of these fashion parades.

The lights dimmed, the ones on the makeshift catwalk illuminating. Riven jumped as loud music began to blare through the speakers, placing her hands over her ears in an attempt to dim them down a little. Jacob reached into his pocket, popping something into her ears that muted the sound a bit. "Thank you," she murmured, wondering how he had suddenly taken a liking to her after watching her kill Baroness Kitra. Riven leaned back against the seat, watching as Viola took the stage, clearly suppressing her smile. Good, this was her moment, she deserved to relish every bit of it. "Go Vi!" Jacob yelled, whistling in a strange manor.

~~~
Echo had thrown up the entire bowl of oatmeal. After months of not eating, even that was too solid. Shiro sat beside her, rubbing her back as she shook, evacuating her stomach into a bucket beside the bed. Wei stood beside an IV pole, inserting something into the line that made Echo feel dizzy and weightless. Shiro gave her something to wash her mouth out with as tears pricked her eyes for the umpteenth time that day. "Do you want to go watch the show?" The puppy offered, her tail wagging hesitantly. It was clear that she wanted to go see it. Echo only shook her head, she was afraid. "It's okay Shiro, you can go." The puppy nurse jumped off and scurried out, clearly eager to go watch the antics of the humans.
Wei took a seat beside where Echo lay, curled up in a ball, hugging the stuffed demon Christopher had given Doll to give to her. She was trembling as she sniffled, her body tense. "Echo, do you want to retire?" Wei inquired softly, "we can send you somewhere nice. You would never have to fight again." Retire? She thought of that basement, not the one she had been trapped in, but well, the other one she had been trapped in while waiting to become a birth mother. No, Echo did not want to be lined up for that fate again, but the thought of returning to the field terrified her. The thought of having to face Iflet made her physically ill. "It'll be peaceful, rolling fields, no cell phones, you'll be in your element." Echo shook her head slowly.
"I-I don't want to b-be a birth m-m-mother," she shivered, knowing the facility he was referring to. The fact was, was that the King's were very powerful and their offspring could prove to be useful. "Childbirth is easy, or so I'm told. You would get to be spoiled, you can kill as many sheep as you like and you'll get to eat all of the food. No one will tell you what to do or how to dress." No, retirement was the equivalent of a death sentence. "You don't have to make up your mind now. Once you're well enough, Doll and I agreed to send you and Hawks to rehab. You can make your decision there." She could hear the implications in his voice and Echo choked on a sob.
If she didn't get better there, her fate was sealed.
Shoulders square, back straight and lean. Arms loose but not swinging too much, each step as long as can be, foot doing directly in front of the other for each stride. She might be too short but she very well had perfect posture when she wanted to. She had done her research and would take this seriously, no matter how fake it might be. There was whistling, some people were watching, a few looked bored but were simply paid to watch the show, some looked - no, don't focus on the audience. What matters is to become a walking clothes hangar. What Viola did not realize was that if she did well enough here, this performance could be recorded and put into a portfolio as a work sample if she ever wanted to join an agency after the war.
There were four different outfits Doll and Elise made together for her, each one wildly different from the other. "Why aren't you smiling?" Elise asked, tilting her head in confusion. Doll was helping slide the next dress on, and Viola was, as usual, completely unfazed by being stripped naked. Naked is a model's uniform, after all. "If I smile, it'll draw attention away from the clothes to my face." She explained once she her face was free once again. "Our purpose is to make people notice the clothes and want to buy them." Though, naturally, there weren't many here who wouldn't already buy Doll's clothing. Elise nodded at that, seeming pleased a little bit. The blonde was always a fashion lover, though rather than wearing, she liked creating. No doubt this was also helping her achieve her dreams. "I'll make your clothes look great, so make more for me." Elise nodded, grinning. "Will do, Vi."
At the end of the fashion show, Viola wasn't sure how she felt. In the end, no matter how nice it was, it didn't change the fact that it really was just fake. But on the other hand, she felt... girly for once. Usually Viola was something like a warrior, seen as the tomboy of the Elites compared to fragile and beautiful Elise. When Riven came along, that was another incredibly beautiful person, and another person for Viola to look like a tomboy beside. But this was the first time she could remember ever actually feeling feminine and pretty, even if only for a short while. "It was Riven who told Lorraine to do the show." Viola told Elise as the two girls walked towards the cafeteria where the others were waiting. "So you should stop giving her a hard time." Elise frowned, mouth curved downwards in thought. "It's strange to think of a vampire caring so much for a human."
Yes, it was odd. Surely Riven wasn't bought by Viola's natural friendliness? She always looked untouchable, someone who wouldn't grow close to someone just because they showed kindness. The fact that she went this far was definitely strange. "We're here, boys and Riven." Elise said, dropping her water bottle on the table, Viola taking trays to get their food. "It wasn't real or anything, but thanks, Riven." Vi smiled at her partner in crime. Hopefully one day she would get to do something nice for her too.
When the show was over, Riven rose. What if she walked out the door right now? There was no one watching her. Dominic and Jacob were conversing, laughing about something human that Riven didn't understand. She could walk right out and they would be none the wiser. Her feet remained planted on the ground. She thought of Dominic, who welcomed her with open arms, of Jacob who showed grudging respect, of Viola who sneaked into her bed every night and showed nothing but compassion, even if it was in an attempt at her own personal gain. "Riven?" The vampire turned towards Dominic, she had been staring at the doorway. "Yes?" He handed her a bundle of flowers, her confusion evident. "Give these to Viola."
The black haired hunter came swaggering towards them, still wearing her makeup and hair style that no doubt Doll had expertly crafted. She had been given that name for a reason of course. "You looked very nice," Riven handed Viola the flowers. "These are from-" but Dominic had already disappeared, no doubt to go grab a bite to eat. Viola dragged Riven to the dining room, which was already beginning to fill up. She sat down at their normal table, wishing that cereal was served for every meal. Instead, Riven was going to try something called minestrone soup. It had the color of blood, but there were little bits and bobbles in it. She poured a cup of blood into it, turning it a darker red. Her head snapped up when Viola addressed her.
"It was real," Riven replied, blinking. "You walked on stage didn't you? Doll is a designer, this could very well be your big break." She stirred her soup and took a bite, nearly spitting it out. It was hot! Way too hot to consume! She swallowed hard and panted, reaching for the water. She grabbed the ice out of it, stuffing it into her mouth to soothe the burn. When dinner was over, Riven headed to her room, escorted by Viola of course so that she could be locked inside for the evening. "Viola," Riven spoke softly, hoping that the sound of the bell around her neck would keep others from listening in. "I think I have a plan to escape without turning you into a vampire, but it would require the cooperation of the others." She spoke casually, as though they might be conversing of the weather.
Krane was there tonight again, hiding until Viola left to make preparations for herself. "I brought you this," he held out a nightgown. "The Princess should be using proper sleeping attire." He set it on the bed, turning around so she could change. Riven wriggled out of her clothing and put the nightgown on, the soft cotton cold on her skin. "Thank you Krane," she slumped down on the bed, grabbing the pillow to hug. "I believe I might have a means of escaping and taking the half demon children with me." His brow quirked, "Oh?" He leaned against the wall as Riven explained, nodding along with her. "I think... it's possibly the craziest thing a vampire has ever done. I love it."
Re: Mirrored
No problem! For names I used behindthename.com and just clicked "random," until I saw something I liked.
Re: Mirrored
Okay, thank you for answering that for me! Just was trying to get an idea of the region before I started drawing up my character as it helps with naming and such. :)
Re: Mirrored
It's sort of a mix, the culture is medieval but the technology is futuristic. Every region is different though, I will leave it up to you guys to decide what you want Castiva to be like.
Re: Mirrored
I have two quick questions involving the region of Castiva and its people: So would there be any sort of specific culture that the people of the region would fall under and would it be a more of a medieval setting or would it differ?
Okay thanks for clarifying!
Re: Mirrored
@Angel_Eyes, all humans are from Earth. There is such a thing as a shell, or a person born without magic but they're usually killed by their families because it's shameful.
Re: Mirrored
Question: are all the humans from another world? Did they all fall through into this world at some point in the past? Or do they all originate from this world??
Re: Mirrored
@Seraphim, thank you for joining :D
Re: Mirrored
Hey there!
I'd like to see if I could reserve the Eldest Sister for this roleplay and if you'd allow it I would like my face claim to Kurisu Makise from Steins Gate though if you had something in mind for the character I am willing to change it.
