Permanent raccoon eyes and messy, awful smelling hair have become an identifier for this basement-dwelling slob.

Pre-N.S.P.A. Biography: Some of Iya’s earliest memories are of stumbling through a haven ravaged by war, tears in her face and sores in her feet as she climbed mounds of bodies and jagged rubble searching for her parents. No one really know how hard it was living on the outskirts, outside of those dazzling neo-cities - what happened outside of ‘the grid.’
She can’t recall much else from those days, and she’s decided she’s much better for it. Was she on the side of loyalists? Freedom fighters? Cultists? She didn’t know, and frankly, she didn’t care. For the longest time it had been ‘us or them,’ but as time passed she saw this was clearly not the case. It was ‘me or you.’
So Iya fled.
The girl escaped to the north, catching one of the refugee boats headed for the neo-cities. Awful weather, lack of hygiene, poor planning - she saw more people die on those boats than she ever did out on the field. Perhaps this trauma exists somewhere in the back of her mind, but for now it manifests as an emotional detachment from her surroundings. A self-defense mechanism of sorts, else she would’ve died of heartbreak long ago.
Iya never operated on the frontlines, always in communications or something tech related, so when she reached the shores of Neo-Tokyo, she was quick to pursue a path in what she knew best. She had only known hard work and perseverance until then, so in a world so reliant on technology she found she began to excel in her studies where most others lacked the willpower or dedication.
Many years later, long after saying her goodbyes to her assigned legal guardians and moving out to settle in Neo-Seoul, she would go on to write the most broadly used variant of one the most popular open source programming languages in the world, Venom (its variant referred to as “Ven.om”).
Thoroughly impressed by her work, she was tracked down and contacted by NSPA staff to gauge her interest in a bout of contract work. A case here and there wouldn’t be so bad, surely - it was good money. But now...
Personality profile: Despite her innocuously calm disposition, a quick analysis reveals that she stands on a very morally questionable precipice. The only thing she hates in regards to socialization is being steamrolled in a conversation, so when she’s verbally challenged the (figurative) guns come out. She prefers to be a neutral party in most conflicts, if only for her own safety, despite her strong political opinions. Well, she can always whine about injustice on the hypernet like everyone else.
Unique Skills/Abilities: In this day and age, hacking is something that anybody can easily pick up - with enough patience, anyone can find the right tool or program for the job online. Of course, any respectable IT industry won’t let their tech be so easily compromised.
Perhaps Iya’s biggest draw is her ability to spin up new code to exploit security holes. While most competent scripters would take ages to do so, Iya has spent a countless amount of time writing her own programming languages to vastly expedite the process.
Her two greatest accomplishments are the coding languages DSM (‘Dark Side of the Moon’), and Pipeline, neither of which were revealed to the general public. Pipeline was created as a powerful, all-purpose language that could adapt and embed itself to any kind of code, and output into almost any imaginable format. Some of its schematics were briefly revealed to a handful of snoopy DTR associates during her contract work with the NSPA, but those partial ‘findings’ were promptly wiped on request. Or so she hopes.
DSM is a very strange language that is able to interpret text less like a programming language and more like...a text adventure game. While its uses are much more limited, in a time sensitive situation, writing up a specialized program is extremely fast compared to its counterpart. For only a somewhat complex set of instructions, it can shave off hours or even days worth of time that would’ve been standard of any other language. It is also the sole language that was designed specifically to be incompatible with Pipeline.
