Introduction
The world has endured much over the millions of years of its existence. Humanity fought its way to the top of the food chain and made themselves the dominant species. They built cities, developed technologies, and reproduced overabundantly to a level the world itself could not tolerate. Eventually, people began dying in large numbers. Some force, natural or otherwise, eliminated the majority of the world's population. Cities were destroyed, populations were demolished, and the world itself was changing. Yet even still, 1,312 years after the initial population wipe, humans managed to survive. They themselves don't even know how. But they have. And among them were four people of particular note: A man by the name of Neir, father to a young girl named Yonah who was sick with a fatal disease known as the Black Scrawl. The others were Kainé, a woman half-monster and half-human, and a young boy named Emil, the young master of a manor outside of Nier's village.
Nier wanted nothing more than to protect and preserve his daughter's life. To him, Yonah was more important than even himself. As such, he took to doing odd jobs around the village given to him by a redheaded woman named Popola. Her jobs led him to discover creatures called Shades outside of his village. Nobody understood what Shades were, but knew that they were violent creatures who attacked humans on sight. They appeared as strange black and yellow scrawls, like shadows given a solid form. And when a man identical to Nier in figure, who also appeared as a Shade and went only by Shadowlord, took Yonah away from him he embarked on a quest to return her home at all costs.
Along the way he recruited the aide of a half-Shade named Kainé and the young boy Emil, whose gaze turned whatever he saw into stone. But among all of his companions was none stranger than Grimoire Weiss. A floating book with a rather expansive vocabulary who granted Nier access to the Sealed Verses, magical spells that made him much more powerful. These four made their way through the world, slaying Shade after Shade, to finally make it to the Shadowlord's castle. They destroyed Grimoire Noire and defeated Shadowlord to earn back Yonah. When she was free, the Shade inside of Kainé went berserk, unable to control itself. In order to preserve Kainé's life, Nier gave away his very existence to return her to a full human and eradicate the Shade inside of her through a ferocious battle. When all was done and over with, not even his precious daughter Yonah could remember her father. Kainé and Emil could only think it was themselves that saved Yonah with Nier's existence erased. The sacrifice of one man preserved the lives of those close to him and also provided the world with a sense of safety for a short while. A thankless sacrifice.
Now it is 1315 P.D. The world had known peace and freedom from the shades up until recently. Some force is bringing them back and terrorizing the people of this world. Weiss was destroyed alongside Nier in the fight against the Shadowlord and Emil has returned to his manor, leaving Kainé to retire to the field outside of the Aerie, in which she reconstructed the house she lived in with her grandmother many years ago. The village in which Yonah calls home now has a new leader named Eliza, who replaced Popola after she fell by Nier's hands.
With the rise of Shades again and rumors coming in and out of every city about a floating, talking book looking for some people, the world is surely in a strange state yet again. And most interestingly, the village that Yonah lives in has seen many more attacks than most other towns in the area. As such, Eliza has reached out to the rest of the neighboring areas with a call to arms, asking for extra help combatting this force. With a world full of colorful characters and strange things left and right, one can only imagine what sorts of people will be protecting this new village. What would be leading them away from home, and on top of that, why would they choose to protect a little town with such a tiny population? This is their tale.

The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 2 authors
The village inside was absolutely beautiful. She stood in awe at the flowing hills of green. In the center was a beautiful stone fountain with broken archways surrounding one half. To her left she could see a house behind a stone gate and a stone wall in front of it with a red mailbox sticking out. A ways behind that house was a river that sat beside what she would later know as the Market District of the village. And up to her right at the very top of the hill was the library that she was told to meet at to apply for the guardian job. Apparently there weren't too many other applicants. It didn't surprise her. Not many were brave and or dumb enough to fight with the Shades. Neela of Façade was different, though. She was a brave huntress with experience combatting the Shades and many other creatures. Her spear had tasted much blood and her arrows always shot true. As an outcast with nowhere to call home, this seemed to be the place that the world needed her most. But this place...
"This place is really confusing. Where is all the low, mid and high level housing? Where is their king? Does he reside in the library? That seems like a rather odd place for a king. And that woman... Is she not wearing a mask?" Her eyes caught sight of a white-haired young woman, probably not much older or younger than Neela herself was, in a white dress tending to some white flowers. Her eyes darted around as she delved further into the village. None of the citizens were wearing masks. Each of their attires was completely different from the next, too. So many of her village's rules were being broken in the first few seconds that she was here. Of course, this was not her village, but this place... "Is so very bizarre. What kind of rules govern these people's lives?"
Part of her wanted to just shrug it off, but the absence of everything that she knew in life was itching underneath her skin. How would she be able to conform to this village's rules? How could she change her way of thinking and adapt to a community where rules seemed to be scarce at most? She had not thought this far ahead. She cursed herself, silently of course because verbal cursing was against the rules, and turned her attention up to the library. That was where she could find answers. And if she was lucky it was where she could find a job and a place to lay her head. Crossing the entire length of the desert was nothing short of exhausting... So without further adieu she began climbing her way up the wooden stairs up to the large library atop the tallest hill.
The young woman looked up, silver hair falling off her face and down her back. She was tending to her favorite flowers, the Lunar Tear. She noticed the strange woman curiously and almost assumed it was another person by their clothing but shook her head afterwards. No, it wasn't her good friend, who had allowed her to call her 'Aunt'. She then assumed it was another warrior signing up for guardianship. Sighing as this means she would probably be hearing from this woman if she gained an injury.
In the meanwhile at the Library in the Office on the door to the right, the Leader of the village was hard at work. Blue, curly near shoulder length hair looked almost styled every morning, with a blue flower in her hair. Many would call her attractive, for good reason. She had a body women would love to have, though her choice of wear would also be called into question, one would mistake her for an exotic dancer in other cities. She was busy at the moment, looking over a list of supplies currently at the village. The moment she heard someone coming she'd look up and say politely, "Hello, My name is Eliza. I am the leader of this small humble community. How may I help you today?" Before giving a cheery smile.

Limping towards the village, the man finally reached the gates. Bandaged by the people of the seaport, he had travelled the distance just to reach this place, desiring to fulfill this goal and reaching where the Shades are the most concentrated. He was carrying two swords along his back. His clothes looked more of a traveler then a fighter. He walked through the market and tried not to have people stare at him so. But they all could guess that the shades were even near the seaport..
Next thing the Traveler knew, the same woman tending to her flowers was now in front of him, offering a bottle to him. "You'll heal a little bit faster with this mister. I promise." she said with a small smile as he only nodded and took the bottle and drank it. "Miss Eliza is in the library if you're looking for being a guardian of the village. My name is Yonah by the way."
The Traveler smirked at her before walking towards the library. "Thanks for the directions kid, My name is Gawain of the North."
With that hat reply he made his way to the Library, climbing up the same wooden stairs many others have taken. as he made his way towards it, he noted the enormity of the Library, it was the biggest building In the village! In the meantime he made his way into the library.
"Let's see, the office is upstairs, first door on the right I believe. " he muttered as he started up said stairs.
