Friendly | Cautious | Stubborn | Easily Embarrassed | Lazy | Fearful

Despite his rough childhood, Kei is a very friendly guy most of the time. He enjoys hanging out and playing sports with his friends like most boys do and is quite athletic despite his general lack of motivation. Kei is the type of guy who is slow to make close friends, but once you've earned the title, he'll stand by your side. Even if the odds aren't in his favor, Kei will do anything in his power to protect a friend, even if it means getting his own ass kicked. He is generally smiling and joking around, preferring to not take anything very seriously when possible. He can normally get along with just about anybody, so long as girls keep their distance from him. Kei feels uncomfortable when he comes into physical contact with a girl, and he often overreacts when such an incident occurs, saying or even doing cruel things to make the girl leave him alone. Kei goes out of his way to ensure he does not encounter physical contact with a girl, because he does not enjoy being rude to them. He does have a sense of guilt, but Kei is easily embarrassed and stubborn, so at times he finds it difficult to express himself or he's simply too stubborn to admit when he's wrong. Despite being athletic, Kei is very lazy, what some would deem a slacker, often taking naps in class. His grades aren't the best, but he manages to skid by. Kei does not put a lot of energy into paying attention to people or topics that bore him, and he will likely walk away when his interest is lost, whether a conversation is over or not. Kei prefers to avoid conflict whenever possible, but he absolutely cannot stand it when a guy lays his hands on a girl. Kei is afraid of getting close to girls, after the loss of a loved one, he's never been the same. He finds them to be too physically fragile, so he prefers to avoid them all together for their own safety. Despite avoiding most conflict, he does have a temper, and he doesn't want to hurt a girl, because he'd never forgive himself. It hasn't happened since his sister's death, but when Kei chooses to love someone, his love is fierce. He can become somewhat of a jealous boyfriend when he falls for someone, and is a little clingy, but you'll never have to question his devotion. He is the type of guy who spoils those he loves, but Kei hasn't seen that side of himself in years, let alone anyone else. As far as Kei is concerned, the romantic side of himself died with his sister.

[center]Sports

Kei has always liked sports, ever since he was young, but with his pent up guilt and stress he enjoys them much better now. Sports serve as Kei's healthy release of his problems, keeping him out of trouble he used to easily get wrapped up in when he was in middle school. He doesn't really have a favorite, but he absolutely refuses to play soccer anymore. He was sent to the principal's office on several occasions when he was in middle school, but he has proven to be stubborn as a mule so he takes the F every time despite his obvious love for all active activities.

Skilled Hands

Don't get dirty minded, this is far more literal than that, no sexual pun intended! Kei is great with his hands, especially if you give him a wrench, crowbar, or a tire iron. Put the proper tools in this guy's hand and he can save you some big cash when it comes to fixing up your motorized vehicles. He isn't too shabby when it comes to other things like drawing and music, but mechanics are his strongest suit when hands on work is involved.

Guitar

This one isn't much of a shock. Kei loves using his hands, but he is also quite lazy most of the time, so he picked up the hobby of playing guitar. His mother eventually paid for his lessons, so his talents grew exponentially. He likes to sit in a quiet spot and play his guitar, seeing as it releases emotions he has pent up throughout the day that he otherwise cannot express.

Gynophobia (Fear of Women
Kei isn't afraid of women themselves, he's afraid of getting close to one be it physically or emotionally. After losing his sister, he gave up on adding more women in his life, because he is afraid of hurting them or watching them die like his sister. Kei actively avoids physical touch from a woman, and will even run away if one were to attempt to hug him.

Beetles
He's not afraid of all bugs, just beetles. When he was a child, Kaiya put a beetle on his nose and it pinched him and he has been terrified of them ever since. If he were to encounter one, he would scramble away much like he does when a woman aims to get too close.

Losing his temper

While he has had a grip on his temper for over two years, he still remembers pouring that drink on his first love's head. He remembered her tears, he remembers his guilt. Although he has never physically hurt a woman, he really hurt that girl emotionally, and he never wishes to do something so terrible ever again. It wasn't one of his brightest moments, but it is on Youtube.

Kei was a bright child born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Looking at photos of Kei as a child, no one would ever recognize him. but what many do not know is, he had a twin sister. When they were young, Kei and Kaiya were inseparable. The two went everywhere, even sharing a bed together. When Kaiya was sick, Kei sat by her side until she was well, and vice versa. There was literally no longer than an hour out of any given day that the two children were not with one another. The two formed their own language, and unlike most twins, they did not grow out of it as the grew older, in fact, they improved it. Though all was not well, despite their happy faces and loving parents. Kaiya and Kei were both frail babies, the doctor that delivered them telling their mother to not expect them to last a week, but they surprised everyone. Kei only grew stronger and healthier as he grew up, but Kaiya remained frail and sickly. As the twins began school and started making friends, they naturally began to spend more time apart. This was natural, but Kei has never forgiven himself. By the time they were in seventh grade, Kei barely spent five hours a day with Kaiya. He still spent several hours sleeping next to her, regardless of whether or not she was contagious, frail and fever he embraced it all... He knew her illness could not defeat him. He was the older brother after all, if he wasn't stronger than her, how would he be able to protect her like a brother should? He was in denial, but his sister's health only got worse as she grew older, and she did not have a lot of time...

One day Kaiya relentlessly begged Kei to skip school and spend the day watching tv with her in bed, but Kei decided to go to school because he did not wish to miss out on gym class with his friends. He had plenty of time to watch movies with Kaiya after school, after all, he wrote her off as being a clingy sister. Besides, he really wanted to impress his crush with his soccer skills. The day went by quietly for the most part, but halfway through playing soccer with his friends he received an emergency call. It was not a particularly special day. It was no one's birthday, no one was getting married, so he was completely taken by surprise when he was called to the office and told that he would be signing out. It wasn't until he got home that his mother explained that his sister died in her sleep. Kei immediately locked himself in her room. He did not come out until his father literally removed the hinges from the door. What they found was a scene they'd never seen before. Kei was under Kaiya's bed, bawling his eyes out in a hysterical fit. He couldn't handle the guilt, the grief of losing his other half. Kei slowly, but surely recovered, but once he returned to school, it was evident that there was something different about him. Kei, who was normally a flirtatious extrovert had become standoffish and avoided girls. He would become cruel whenever a girl attempted to confess to him and once he even poured a drink on the girl he used to have a crush on for asking him to be her boyfriend. After losing Kaiya, Kei was too terrified to become close to any female, his mother excluded. He was constantly being written up, but since his parents had money, they always used their financial prowess to buy him out of the trouble he got into.

ImageHe kept his body low, trying to keep himself as small as possible as he crept towards Himeji castle. He managed to climb over the wall, smirking to himself, "Heh, date required my ass.." He chimed to himself very proud of his achievement. He did not see a single chaperon in sight, so he sped forward. As soon as his foot met wood, the floor caved in beneath him. Eh...? Kei looked down, eyes widening as he quickly collapsed into a large hole in the ground, "W-What the hell!?" he snapped. There was no way this was legal to do to a student. What if he had broken his leg? Using his spear prop to vault himself out, Kei attempted this again, but regardless of his strategy, he always ended up outside of Himeji castle, falling into a booby trap, and once he even was left dangling from a tree. Finally giving up, Kei walked over to a group of students lined up outside and sat on the ground with an angry expression on his face. There were leaves in his unkempt charcoal hair and his skin was slightly sweaty from his numerous attempts to crash the party without a date. His silver-blue eyes stared at the ground, anger and exhaustion burning in his determined eyes. He did not spend so much time on his samurai costume to sit outside of the party all day. One way or another he would make it inside. One of his arm straps were loose, so with his teeth and free hand he began to adjust the strap, refusing to ask a stranger for help. While not very tall and possessing average strength, Kei's gaze was arrogant and standoffish. I'll have to ask someone... but I don't know anyone here.. He gritted his teeth at the thought, but he had to accept the situation for what it was.

Once his costume was back in order, Kei looked over his shoulder to those present deciding to check out the other costumes. There was an adorable little girl present, with hair as equally dark as his own. He started to wonder if she was even old enough to attend, but it wasn't like he would ask her. If she were to get offended and slap him, all hell would break loose. He decided to avoid her to avoid conflict, or worse, he didn't want to flee the scene. Girls were only trouble after all, baggage he did not desire to concern himself with. There was also a boy dressed as a cat (Akira) who was only a little shorter than himself. Kei looked over the boy with a smirk, admiring the goods. The boy was quite fit for a shorty, definitely Kei's type. Then his eyes shifted to another boy who was dressed as a demon (Sora). The demon boy appeared to letting a girl dressed as Alice in Wonderland (Yuuki) touch his costume. They seemed quite enamored with each other, so he assumed they were attending the dance together. Guess that writes him off the table for small talk..

Looking further he noticed a male with hair as dark as his own, or possibly even darker (Ryou). Kei looked over the impressive specimen, noting that he was much taller than himself with a lot of skin exposed. The taller male's (Ryou) silver eyes were much lighter than Kei's own bluish-silver irises, and exponentially more intimidating. Kei had to admit that the view was quite pleasant, and he was indulging a bit more than he should have... but hey, no one was watching him anyway. Kei allowed himself to gawk at the exposed muscles that the other guy (Ryou) was freely displaying until his eyes landed on the guy's tattoo. Immediately interested he decided to approach, raising a casual hand to wave at him, "Yo. I'm Watari, Kei.. I hope I'm not intruding?" His facial features changed to a friendly smile now that he was in the presence of another male, no longer worrying about what girl he would have to ask to get into that damned building. He gave the taller guy a chance to say something in return, his eyes shifting to the rest of the present party. There was a blonde male dressed as a nine tailed fox, and Kei couldn't help but gawk at the independently moving tails for a moment. Moving on, he noticed a taller brunet haired guy dressed as Luigi, and a ghost with horns (Skylar). He sweat-dropped when he noticed the ghost, seeing as the costume was little more than a sheet with eye holes. Shaking his head, Kei returned his attention back to the dark haired male (Ryou) looking around for the guy's date, but as to Kei's knowledge there were only three girls present: Horned ghost, Chibi, and Alice. Seeing as Alice was preoccupied with Demon boy, he figured it was safe to write her off the list, "Oi, do you have a date to this thing?" Kei asked quirking one of his ebony brows, a frown on his face as he thought about the traps he had endured, yet his tenacity had been in vain. He decided to warn the guy, not knowing if the tall guy was going to try and pull a stunt like he had. The least he could do was save the guy from breaking a sweat for no reason, "I tried to sneak in earlier, but there are all kinds of traps set out. There's no way in without a date...Just thought I'd warn everyone I can before someone gets hurt trying to get in." He explained, rubbing the back of his neck. Kei glared at the castle walls. He wanted to gain entrance so badly, yet asking a girl to be his date was NOT an option. He looked around, rustling his already unruly hair between his fingers in aggravation. On the bright side; Kei managed to remove the leaves that he had accumulated among his dark hair from all of his encounters with the traps.

Johnny “Jay” Farelli

“Sore ... what are you dressed as?”

Johnny caught “sore,” as well as an inquiry on the foreigner’s costume. He knew the word for “sore”, for he learned it early so he could reference sports injury jargon within the first week in Japan. “I am dressed as Luigi. I guess he is from a game. Anyway, I helped pull that boy away- not sure if you saw. Still, good to know you’re alright.” Johnny replied in slightly broken Japanese as he pat the boy’s shoulder and gave a thumbs-up with his other hand. At least, he must be doing alright. Otherwise he wouldn’t be here. The foreigner glanced between the blue-haired boy and the others who were currently present. “I have not introduced. My name is Johnny Farelli, but you can call me Jay.” This time around, his introduction came across quite competently, oozing with new-found confidence from his earlier reading.

Johnny very visibly flinched at the sound of a girl blasting some sort of voice at a great volume. He spun around to see a ghost with a bunch of holes cut in. Three made comical face holes (at least, comical to Johnny) while the other two seemed to be for letting two horn-like appendages poke through.

Johnny couldn’t help but laugh. He felt a few threads in his tight shirt snap as his torso flexed and contracted during his laughter. Great jump scare, dude he thought as he moved to a stance that no longer intruded on anyone’s personal space. With chiseled arms crossed, Johnny listened to whatever conversations were happening. He attempted to follow, though it was very clear that his crunch-study had hardly much effect. The foreigner then heard something about this jump-scare ghost being named… Skylar? That’s definitely not a Japanese name. Another foreigner? Johnny couldn’t really tell under the ghost sheet. Cool kid, though, Johnny was certain.

“Jay,” Ryou-senpai, Johnny’s senior, called out in greeting.

“Yo! Whussup, Ryou?” Johnny rose a fist to bump as he automatically spoke in English. He did not, after all, know how to say exactly that in Japanese, “Sick tats, your suit’s off the hook! You’re really rockin’ that sleeveless look!” He seemed to make the rhyme as if it were second-nature. Hrm… those two lines might flow better swapped…

His friendly smile seemed to grow closer to a more doofy grin. This complemented his scanning emerald eyes as he gathered every detail on the excellent costumes on display. He started to notice most of them looked fresh, if not brand-new. His Luigi costume looked perfectly fine on it’s own. However, when juxtaposed with these fresh costumes, the faded nature of the greens and blues started to stand out. Not to mention his shirt that fit snugly last year was starting to tear at the seams.

“Why… standing outside? … early or are they… (scared?) … monsters.“ Those were the words Johnny managed to catch from the purple-haired girl, Fujioka-san. Johnny imagined this was a question coupled with a joke. He personally was waiting outside because Gen hadn’t showed up yet. That didn’t bother the foreigner- few things could. He was frankly surprised at how early he had arrived, all things considered.

Johnny jammed his hands into the pockets of his overalls. He was content to listen in on conversations to test his current level of knowledge further. After all, he was still a newbie at this oddly complex language. He was only as far as he was because Japanese isn’t the first language he learned. The theory behind learning a language was still known to him.

The blonde-haired girl Johnny met on the first day arrived alongside the purple-eyed boy Johnny saw earlier in the locker room. He waved with genuine kindness, completely unaware of the glares some other students were giving. Would the other students react poorly to Johnny's friendliness? Hell I dunno. I ain't God or whatever.

"Even with the
streams of time flowing
I will find a way to make
a bridge, so that I'll be able
to see you, to feel you, to
talk to you when the time comes."
─────────────────────────

The moment he greeted Jay, his junior spoke in his mother language which was at a point was his as well. He met the fist bump with the same gesture. "Thanks. You're good with the rhyme." It made him wonder if Jay had a partner for the night. He did remember that Inoue doesn't have one as the younger male asked for his help. He took a look around to see if Inoue is present, but the boy was not yet. That was when he noticed someone coming towards the group, unable to ask his question as it took his attention.

There was another newcomer, a female who wore a maid costume and apparently was Harigae's companion. He does not care for rumors or such things. He does not involve himself in such trivial things, but he does know what is present before him without being told. It was not really his concern, but that meant she would not be one of the people he could ask to accompany him for the night. It was fine and he was about to answer the question when he felt someone touching him, specifically his clothes.

He looked to see that it was Harigae. He wasn't really opposed to it. He did hear of the blue-haired senior's quirks from the others, but he doesn't see it as that. He let the guy do what he wants as long as it doesn't bother him on a very personal level. It eventually stopped when Harigae's attention was shifted to his wings and eventually, the earlier question had been answered. It was also after that another came, it was Trander, the other foreigner he met at the opening ceremony. The boy complimented the costumes and that was true. Everyone had worked on their costumes at some form.

Ryou's attention was taken when another newcomer joined the group. It was a guy in a samurai costume, but it seems this guy had been in a rumble of sorts. He introduced himself in a friendly manner and Ryou did the same in his own way. "No." That was his answer to this boy now known as Kei Watari and the proper response to an introduction. "I'm Giou, Ryou." He gave a small nod of his head and then looked at the others who could introduce themselves too. There was another question directed at him and it was a problem he does want to have a solution about. It was also apparent that he has to since Watari said that there are traps present for those who do not follow the condition of having a date. It seems Watari also shared the same fate as him for the night.

"No, I don't have one." He smoothly said that. It was rather hard to believe especially with his certain avid fans. Those who heard looked at him in disbelief, whispers began, all that he was used to along with the flashes of the cameras on him or towards their group by the other students. He initially had no intention of coming and really, he was rather conflicted of having a companion really, for in the end of the day, he only have one individual in mind that was truly fitting to be identified as his date. "It seems I need to get one now." He cast his attention briefly to the group and then to other students, before realizing something. He looked back at Watari. "Thanks for the advice, Watari-san."

He then noticed another person approaching them with a rather eye-catching costume. It was Fukui and from the looks of it a date of his junior. It seemed he would not need to worry about Jay when it comes to socialization. That was really a good thing. He ought to worry about himself as he looked around because as far as he could tell the group he was in seemed to be paired up already. Blake could probably be having Kon as his date. He wasn't sure about the ghost (Skylar) or for Trander. That's when he caught a familiar figure in also another eye-catching costume. It seemed that was a trend as he looked back at the others. "Excuse me, but do you know anyone who has no date?" It was a question he should have asked earlier isn't it? He was fine with anyone as long as it was not one of those rabid fans.

Johnny “Jay” Farelli

“Jay!”

Johnny, being nearly as tall as Ryou, was easy to pick out in a crowd, especially with his green plumber’s cap. Though faded, the colour of the hat was still a strong, noticeable hue.

That didn’t compare to Johnny’s date, however. Gen in particular was very… conspicuous, to say the least. Scraps of hot pink fabric coupled with leather belts- and very little else. The scraps were stitched professionally together to form a pseudo-sports bra and short shorts. She wore mismatched, loosely fitting boots with matching finger-less gloves, and a single long pink stocking on one leg that nearly reached her thigh. She had split her large braid into two slimmer braids. There was a lot of visible skin; pale, and very fair. The overall look was quite wacky, but not in an overwhelming way. With part of her bangs flared out forward, Johnny thought she looked pretty cute.

Of course he would at least think that sort of thing. Despite himself, Johnny felt rather hot under the collar. He tried to force his heart to keep an even rhythm. His tight shirt stretched as he tried to control his breathing. Johnny could’ve sworn he felt- not heard- some threads snap along the shoulder seams. He hardly expected such a… non-conservative costume for a place that seemed to hold onto traditional values more strictly than most places in the United States. Sure there were lots of girls who dressed similarly where Johnny came from, but that was Johnny’s old hood.

Being relatively illiterate in the way of technology and video games, the foreigner had no idea what Gen was supposed to be. (Heck, he never played the game his own costume was from.) The “bullets” attached to the sides of the “bra” belt seemed out of proportion, almost cartoonish, like they were meant to fit a gun that couldn’t exist in reality. Was this a character of some Japanese cartoon? … Or a video game? Hell, with Nintendo and Sony, Japan basically made both anime and video games. Maybe this was a character from both?

The pondering helped Johnny cool his head enough to think about what he wanted to say. With an almost flamboyant spreading of his arms, he greeted Gen and sized her up with a gaze going from head to toe, and back to head again. “Yo! You’re rockin’ that look, dude!” He started… in English… dumbass… He dropped his arms slightly. “Wait, I mean… (in Japanese, and more professionally, more like an unintentionally sultry growl)*ahem* You look great, Gen-san!” He meant it too. Johnny rose a hand to rub the brim of the Luigi cap between a finger and thumb. Along with the hat, he wore that wonderfully friendly smile of his. He laughed off his earlier dumbassery. Despite growing up in the hood, Johnny made sure to take care of his pearly-whites. All his old friends did.

“Sorry I’m late, shall we get going?” She suggested with a polite smile. Johnny knew every word for this one. He memorized most of them before he left.

Johnny’s smile did not falter. “Hey, no worries! I actually got here early.”

She was clearly checking out the goods, but Johnny knew she too was checking out costume choice. “You’re dressed as Luigi, correct~?”

“You got it!” Johnny grinned, and held two thumbs up akin to the Fonz.

“We’re so well matched. We’ll stand out as the only… in the crowd so far tonight.”

Only… only what…? Johnny glanced around to check out the other costumes to buy time to figure out what could’ve been said. What does her costume and Luigi have in common? … Oh! She must mean that costume is also from a video game!

“I think you’re right!” Johnny’s grin widened as his eyes returned to see her’s. Huh… Imagine that, it was like… fate or something brought them together with near-matching costumes… well, matching in the sense that they originated from the same medium. That’s like saying “two colours in a watercolour paint kit.” Not that Johnny would know anything about that sort of thing… well… he sorta does… kinda… He had many… friends back in America. The only thing he ever drew was an attempt at an album cover. The others in his core group all drew superior images, however. It was pretty laughable, although…

No… not a good time to think about that. To try to hide the slight glaze his eyes may have developed, the foreigner blinked and glanced up to the location he and the other students were meant to party at. The handsome-looking traditional Japanese castle would soon be inhabited by teenagers dressed in Halloween costumes. Johnny wondered what cool cultural stuff resided within the fortress walls, and how jarring it would look juxtaposed with these kids in absurd modern attire.

“Anyway, let us go.” Johnny continued. He bowed his head a little in a respectful nod and offered a chiseled arm as bare as most of Gen. He couldn’t wait to see what cool stuff lay in wait for himself and the rest of the students. To the rest of the crowd, he shouted, “Let’s get this party starteeeed! WHOO!” with a voice like an R&B legend.

Hopefully he’d keep it together… keep it together through this… reminderThis isn’t a date for me, after all… A school project… a field trip… something that isn’t… But then again… Gen should have a good time all the same. I mean… she probably expects this to be a date. Johnny didn’t like the idea of this being a date, but he loathed making enemies. Sometimes it couldn’t be helped, but Johnny never consciously made the effort to be malicious. He never considered the mere thought. One thing was absolute: Gen deserved a fun time. After all, she agreed to join the foreigner. Hopefully it’ll work out.

Glancing inside wide-open entrances to the many buildings, Johnny spotted the furnishings within the assorted turrets and buildings within the walls. The interior consisted of wooden pillars and wooden walls, holding up a wooden ceiling only Johnny could consider “low”. Dark wooden floors covered the entire walkable interior. Every plank was polished evenly to a mirror shine. The mixture of subtle reds and browns, and the whites of the walls, reminded Johnny of pictures of some old, middle-class houses in Italy. The general architecture, however, did not resemble anything European. There was a greater presence of rectangles, rather than triangles. between the shelves that held blade-less pole-arm handles, and the grid-like windows covered in a thin membrane of paper, and the perfectly vertical, or perfectly horizontal support beams, one was hard-pressed to find a single angle that was not ninety degrees.

Most of the locations were shut off due to other events, but the path leading to the intended location was very easy to navigate.

The intended location was not just an interior. Outside of the main building was a large flat plateau- a field of grass bordered by gravel pathways held along the edge of an enormous retaining wall. Looming over the largest grassy field was the main building of the large castle. It looked ever more impressive the closer Johnny got. It was nice to feel small every once in a while, especially when one felt so big every other time.

Inside the castle was obviously an old-style emperor’s court repurposed to a dance floor. Surrounding the floor itself sat dozens of well-kept suits of traditional samurai armour. ”If I had more time to prepare, I probably would’ve gone as a samurai,” Johnny joked.

He and his friends watched old martial arts movies, as was fitting for kids from their area. The theatre was run-down and cheap, and almost never had any new releases until months later when the owner went to the bigger cities to pick up DVD’s. That theatre also had the most comfortable chairs in the world. Best of all, the owner always made sure they didn’t squeak.

… Shit shit shit don’t think about the past. It’s about the present. It’s about the now!

“So, uh… Couldn’t figure out how to say this in Japanese, but I’ve never been to a Japanese dance before. I guess they’re pretty different from stuff back in America?” Johnny asked in English with a laugh, “Well, besides the decor, I mean.”

Skylar hunched her shoulders forward and giggled into the tips of her fingers at the reactions of her jumpscare under her ghost cover. She was really proud making the giant hunk (Johnny), Sora and maybe others visibly flinch at her little prank. Hulk man started laughing (Johnny) but the senior she was living with was not as amused (Sora). "Skylar, you're too loud." She overly enthusiastically slapped Sora's back hard that he almost kneed over. "You can never be too loud for a party!" Skylar then froze, twisting her head eerily to stare at him. She was hidden under the white tablecloth with eye holes to speak, see and give her horns breathing space but she still had no idea how it was possible to be identified. "Wha?! How did you know it's me?!" she swayed side to side, the cloth moving along with her body as she tried to imitate her idea of a real ghost. "For all you know I could be the GHOST of Skylar!" she lied through her teeth, trusting in her costume's low detection risk. "Good evening to you all as well." Skylar hovered over to the stranger (Ryou) when he greeted everyone, with a tick for getting close to people she hadn't met before. This dude acted indifferent to Sora's poking around with his clothes but could he handle Skylar too? "Woahhh! If you unbuttoned your red shirt a bit more, I'd see your nipples!" she exclaimed getting on her tiptoes to examine the chest she spoke of. "Can I see? I'll show you how to purple nurple.." she whispered creepily staring him right in the eyes only moving away when another stranger (Kei) entered the picture. Skylar stopped tiptoeing, returning the weight to her heels about to hover over to the samurai but the person she was waiting for finally turned up to steal her attention and affection. "Wow, everyone's costumes look great!"

"Blondie-kun!" That was how the Japanese would say, right? Skylar still did not know the name of her stranger danger date. She hovered over to him at the speed of lightning that her shoes screeched as she halted in front of him with their bodies only an inch away from bumping. "It's me! Skylar!" she announced, swaying side to side again to imitate ghost behavior. "Bet you couldn't guess it was me, huh?" she stopped moving, putting her hands on her hips to stand proudly. Her weird horns were a dead giveaway though...
Not leaving a single gap in her speech for him to speak, she dramatically pinched the end of the cloth she wore and flung it over revealing her other costume as a seductive cop. She allowed the cloth to hit ground while she winked at him waiting for his approval. Can't go wrong with TWO costumes! Her hair was in two ponytails to fit the hat and making her active personality look more messy with how they bounced to each action. She raised a hand to adjust the hat better along the back, tilting her head to make it easier on herself. "Just a sec." When the back snapped on just right, she resumed the conversation. "So what's shaking Blondie?" Skylar had run out of things to say. It wasn't like it was her party, she had no clue what was supposed to happen next until her focus drifted again; a short attention span. "I'm really digging the wild look!" she praised, moving around him to pet his tails and gasping openly when they moved. Rolling up her non existent sleeves, "Oh no you didn't!" She leaped forward like a hunter for prey, grabbing and hugging a tail against her chest like a plushie.

"Ravishing. I already want to gobble you up right here, right now, Vampire-chan."

She was immediately intrigued, her body slightly shivering under his claws, "Is that so? Don't get my hopes up, Ōkami-san.." She knew that the word Ōkami could mean wolf, so she went with it. She also was painfully aware of the fact that she insinuated she was somewhat of a masochist. At the tug of her earring, her breathing hitched for a moment, fantasies not suitable to speak aloud in a public venue flashing in her mind, "Tease." She replied breathlessly, obviously affected by his ministrations.

"But, we're fatal to each other, aren't we? A bite between us would be death."

To her surprise, Kazuki had actually paid attention. She wasn't sure he was interested in her ramblings about supernatural mumbo jumbo. Tsukiko roughly bit the inside of her cheek to keep the expression from forming on her face, not wishing to offend her date. Though she did smirk a bit, "Isn't the danger what makes life exhilarating though?" To an extent, she meant that. She enjoyed bad boys, and they could prove to be quite dangerous, but she did not enjoy the dangers of walking alone at night or entering a dark alleyway by herself. This flirtatious thrill, the danger of a boy she knew was no good for her, that was as far as Tsukiko's thrill seeking went, but it wasn't like this boy would ever find out. It wasn't like they were serious about each other. A night of fun with this boy would reveal very little about her. Tonight, like any other night she spent with cute boys, she was not concerned with semantics or telling the absolute truth. She wasn't aiming to find her 'one true love' or whatever bullshit Hollywood, K-dramas, and Japanese anime were selling these days.

"There's the dance and I even disposed trash along the way to make it to you."

She quirked a pink brow at the mention of trash, her interest immediately piqued, "So you just got in a fight? She eyed him over one more time, albeit far more slowly and impressed. She didn't really see many signs of an altercation aside from the bruises she had seen on him earlier, which were now confirmed to be genuine. Her golden eyes returned to meet his once he began speaking again, those bright orbs of hers focused on him entirely.

"All that hard work, it's a shame if I can't show you off now. Isn't that right?"

She wasn't about to admit that her costume was the result of her manager and makeup crew. She decided to take the compliment and let him keep believing that she'd managed to pull it off all on her own. She shivered under his breath, but frowned as he withdrew from her once more. All this teasing was getting her in a very pouty mood, "There you go again.. playing hard to get."

"Waiting is part of the thrill, don't you think?"

The wink brought smile to her lips, before responding, "Depends on what you are waiting for in my opinion.." She replied in a confident tone, closing her eyes for a moment after. If Her manager was afraid she'd find things that go bump in the night, he was correct. The boy standing before her was definitely bad for her, but that was the fun in it. No great story ever began at church. This was exactly the distraction she had been looking for. Anything at all to get her mind of him and his smile. That smile that she would never, ever see again.

"Shall we go, Vampire-chan? Before, I take a bite of that forbidden fruit."

"I suppose, but I'm sure that option two would prove to be far more exciting." Tsukiko responded with a well timed sigh, allowing herself to be swept away by his dangerous and intoxicating bad boy behavior. It was easy to forget the horrible memories that haunted her when she was making reckless decisions. Following Kazuki, she smiled when they arrived on the scene, "Definitely should have chosen the latter." She stated aloud, though there was some hope for the night. She noticed the tall dark and brooding male (Ryou) from earlier that day, the same one that had caught Kazuki in the gym. He was exposing a generous amount of skin. There was an adorably shy samurai (Kei) asking out a short young girl (Mai) as well as a boy near her own height dressed as a Neko (Akira). Her golden eyes lifted to gaze upon Kazuki's face, "Shall we grace them with our presence inside?." she inquired. She was superstitious, but it wasn't so bad being at this creepy castle when she was with a guy like Kazuki. She began to wonder if she would run into Sora, Shiori, or Johnny, or Saburo. Tsukiko had no way of knowing that two of the four were already inside of Himeji Castle.

Image Image ImageWhen they arrived at the courtyard, Kazuki scanned the crowd, not for familiar faces, really. He could care less about those guys. They were not important to him than his own self-interest. He had a whole other agenda on mind as he smirked at the sight of the women wearing such various types of costumes. His imagination was running wild at the many instances he could use it for. It was really a good thing he escaped the clutches of his overbearing uncle that seemed to have grown-up in an era where fun was not a word at all. That uncle of his, better not be here or something. It would be best to enter the castle already, he could have all the chit-chat later if his date proves to be boring and all.

"Definitely." He answered as his attention returned on Tsukiko. There was his signature smirk as he grabbed hold of her wrist and pulled her towards him. He then wrapped his free arm around her, securing her against his body with one of their arms still up in the air. His face awfully closed to hers. The scene indeed got the attention of the students who were still present at the yard. Some whistled at them, took pictures, and even cheered Kazuki on, well, he was quite known for his uninhibited actions. "Just remember, Vampire-chan," His breath so seductively close to her lips, for the fact his lips were just a hair strand away. "You're my mine for the night."

"KAZUKI!" He knew it, that uncle of his won't just let it down. It would be good for that man to take it a rest, all this anger can get to the heart, doesn't that man know that? It's not his damn fault that school was boring earlier, that was entirely the school's fault in his personal opinion, but somehow, they had decided that his voice doesn't matter much on the grand scale of things. "Okay, Vampire-chan, hold on tight, alright?" He then unceremoniously carried her into his arms and sprinted through the courtyard. The other students were surprised as Kazuki zoomed passed them while carrying Tsukiko. It was like a scene where Big Bad Wolf had taken Red Riding Hood from the Huntsman or something.

"Hey guys! Be a champ and stall that raging rhino, okay!" He shouted to the others which were, Ryou, Akira, Arietta, and some guy (Tadashi), a small kid (Mai); oh that's his junior, "Oi, Shrimp! Take care of the Math Teacher for me, I'll treat ya later!" He didn't notice the presence of the newcomers, Skylar, Kei, and Bishop as he passed by them in record time. It was also quite the scene with Kazuki's speedy and athletic stunts. He was soon inside the castle, which was a safe zone. Since, those are only paired can enter. He read that earlier, despite his seemingly no-care interest on what he doesn't like, he was pretty observant.

"We're on the clear!" He smiled at that knowledge, with a boyish grin. He then looked at Tsukiko. "You all good, Vampire-chan? Did I frazzle you?" He said with that devilish eyes of his, before putting her down. "You're quite the piece of work, aren't you? Making me work hard." That was true, as beads of sweat could be seen forming on his forehead and a bit on his chest, but nothing excessive. As he was settling her down on the floor, he gave her a playful nip at the nick, just one though before finally letting her go. He then stretched his limbs, it was quite the show as it also displayed his muscle definitions fully from the exposed upper body. "It might just mean you're worth to die for, huh, Vampire-chan. So, wanna take a look around? or just head to the hall and party."

Kei's entire body tensed as he could tell the girl in the ghost costume (Skylar) was going to approach him. What could he really do in a social setting like this? Running away would prove humiliating, and it wasn't like he could hit her. Before it came to such measures, Kei found himself thankful that the blonde student (Bishop) dressed as a nine tailed fox tore her attention away from him. That was close... While his heart was finally starting to beat again, he returned his gaze to the taller male, just barely catching his name. This fear of his was really distracting, and despite his hatred for it, he couldn't seem to move past it. He couldn't forget what he did, because that would disgrace her memory. It was his fault, his infatuation with a girl ruined his life. Girls were trouble, distracting, dangerous. He couldn't forget that, else he may make the same mistake all over again..

"I'm Giou, Ryou."

Kei nodded, letting the name resound in his head a few times. Giou-San, Giou-Senpai..? I think that he'd be older than me, so I think Senpai is the safest.. This is such a drag.. Who came up with the honorifics system anyway? He thought to himself with a perplexed expression on his face. He noted that the tall male seemed to be suffering from the same conundrum that he was, as he did not answer immediately. It was a relief to know that he wasn't the only one struggling to meet the dance's requirement.

"No, I don't have one."

"It's only day two in the school year, what did they expect..?" He said that, but judging by the pairings he had seen, a lot of others students were not afflicted by the same struggle where the 'date' ordeal was concerned. Kei looked Ryou over once again, letting out a sigh, "If someone who looks like you does not get a date, I'm doomed." Then when cameras began to flash, Kei tilted his head. Of course the male before him was beyond attractive, but was he some sort of local celebrity as well? He rubbed the back of his neck, then looked around. He couldn't tell who had a date and who did not at this point, and a guy like him couldn't approach a girl very easily.

"It seems I need to get one now."

Kei blinked with a baffled expression on his face, tilting his head as the man. Was he really going to just ask around until someone he spoke to was dateless? Kei admired Giou's confidence, that much was for sure, but he'd never be able to ask more than once. He did not have the mental or emotional capacity to be turned down, especially when the LAST thing he wanted to do tonight was escort a girl.

"Thanks for the advice, Watari-san."

"No problem, ...Giou-Senpai?" He questioningly replied, unsure if he was correct in his assumption that Giou was not a freshman. Kei realizing he needed to give Giou space to find a date decided to approach the boy dressed as a Neko (Akira) and the small girl next to him (Mai). Deciding to be a bit bold, Kei rubbed the back of his neck, his stance casual despite his nerves and gynophobia, "If you're not going together, do you mind going in with me? There are traps set for those without dates.." He was looking at Mai as he spoke, not even realizing that intruding on another guy's date could get him punched in the face. He would also avoid the word date at any cost. This was NOT a date. He refused to call it that, because Kei did not go on dates with girls, ever. He wasn't even concerned about the boy standing near her, but mostly due to naivety. Besides, if things went awry he had a high pain tolerance, he could take a hit even if he wasn't all that strong. A light blush formed on the samurai's cheeks as he waited for an answer. He secretly hoped that she wouldn't touch him, for better or for worse,"I'm Watari, Kei, what's your name?" The small girl was just about the only girl present that he could look in the eyes and hold a conversation with without feeling the need to flee. Most of the females present were scantily clad, and he could not handle something like that. He'd freak out if one of them approached him. Her hairstyle (Mai's) reminded him of his sister, Kaiya's when they were children, even though Kaiya's was brown and not black. The girl's small stature and slight resemblance to his sister was probably the only thing that kept him grounded at this point, she did not intimidate him as badly as the others because of her younger appearance. If she's anything like Kaiya, I'm screwed.. He thought to himself, not even aware that a small smirk formed on his face, paired with affectionate eyes. It actually wasn't a bad look for him, but why wouldn't he make such an adorable face when remembering his beloved twin sister?

"Blondie-kun! It's me! Skylar!" "Uhhhhh-" "Bet you couldn't guess it was me, huh?" Bishop gave her a once over, thinking about it. Truth be told, he would be 90% sure it was here, because of the horns and the sounds of her voice which he was now familiar with. "Aaah, nope. Not at all, you got me. Hehe." He lied and rubbed the back of his head as the blonde fox ears on his head twitched. For a homemade costume, his grandmother did some amazing work. Bishop opened his eyes again to see her (Skylar) stripping off her ghost costume coming out a sexy lingerie cop. His mouth gaped causing him to blush deeply, quite surprised. "So what's shaking Blondie?" He gulped for a moment quite distracted for, obvious reasons. The look was attractive, well to any 15 year old boy a girl in basically what could be considered lingerie would be attractive, or at least garner a lot of attention. But when he came back to, he huffed looking back into Skylar's eyes although he was still blushing. "My- my name is Bishop. Bishop Trander." <This is my date? Oh my god, what if my parents find out.> He knew they wouldn'ty disapprove, quite the opposite actually. His family was all about diversity and being different, his family definitely was. At least in his opinion. He began to wonder about Skylar's family. He still had no idea that she was an exchange student from the U.S.

Bishop sweatdropped when it seemed that Skylar's attention was drawn to something else. Fortunately- or unfortuantely it was something about him. "I'm really digging the wild look!" He blinked looking over himself, not sure what piece of his costume was necessarily 'wild' save for the animal ears and tails. When he looked up Skylar was out of his view. "Oh no you didn't!" "Didn't wha- hey that's my tail!" Bisop's ears perked up in shock only to lay back as she pounced on his tail to cuddle one. He blushed glowering at Skylar but he wasn't a very intimidating person, being so young and kind looking. He began to look around to see if people were watching, some were with amused looks but most were heading to the courtyard. He looked back to Skylar not really sure what to say, seeing the strange girl cuddle one of his many tails. Skylar was like the exact opposte of Bishop. She was loud and 'out there' in your face and unashamedly herself. He admired that, but was finding it a little hard to keep up. At least for now.

Music got the blonde's attention turning to look inside the courtyard, not recognizing the song but already enjoying the rock music. "Aahhh.. Skylar-san? You, wanna head inside and see the actual party?" Bishop sweadropped again with his ears flattening finding her still cuddling with his tail. Out of the corner of his eye, a familiar face sprinted by dragging a girl behind him (Kazuki & Tsukiko). He blinked not really sure what to think, all that he knew was that guy (Kazuki) always seemed to be running from something or to something.... There was a metaphor in there somewhere. As his view panned around, he spotted his friends (or, people he believed to be his friends? Maybe?) Mai/u] and [u]Akira. It looked at though someone (Kei) was asking Mai out which made him smile. Now he had to worry about Akira finding a date too. He felt a little bad for getting a date before his newly made friends, but he had no intentions of ditching them for the dance. He wasn't that kind of person. He awaited for Skylar to gather herself together, with his tails finally not moving for the moment. He wasn't so sure how this night was going to go. But he knew that it was going to be interesting to say the least. Especially for his first school dance.

I can't hear a thing.. Too many people are talking all at once... Standing outside of Himeji Castle was far more stimulating than the poor ivory haired freshmen had anticipated. It reminded her of the party she had attended, thanks to Cassiopeia informing her of the event, the same one where she had met Arietta, but this time it lacked alcohol, making it far more . There were so many students outside that it was difficult to keep up with what was going on around her. Akira could barely take in what was going on, but Sora and Yuuki made their way inside, along with Arietta and her date (Tadashi) which Akira was honestly not familiar with. The typically ivory haired girl rubbed the back of her neck, noticing Ryou asking around if anyone had a date. She was tempted to speak up, but she did not wish to be seen as a gay male. The last thing she wanted was the torment that came with being a gay male in the high school athletic environment. Despite still being a foreigner, Akira knew that Japan was highly conservative. She did not wish to ostracized. She had a feeling that at some point or another, this school would definitely run out of 'understanding' and 'tolerance'.

Just around the time that Akira calmed down, a stranger (Kei) approached herself and Mai. By all means, the stranger was very attractive and despite his awkward nature, he gave off an arrogant vibe. The male asked Mai to the dance, assuming that she and Mai were dates. At first Akira was shocked, but then she remembered that she appeared to simply be a feminine male to the eyes of others, and at worst, androgynous. "Nah, I'm not her date. I just want a dance with her sometime before the night is over." Akira assured the dark haired male, then smiled to Mai. Akira was genuinely happy that her friend had the opportunity to be escorted by an attractive guy. I'm glad that someone asked her. I wonder what she'll say.. She felt immediately bummed that she wouldn't get to attend with someone handsome, but this was the life she chose. Statistically, this was a man's world, so why wouldn't it be logical to pretend to be one if the opportunity arises? Still, despite the logic in her choice, she missed being able to crush on boys without being so self conscious.

Akira's gaze shifted to the side just in time to see the heathen (Saburo) approach. While she did not hold the punch she had received against him, she could not forgive that he started a fight so close to Yuuki. She also wondered what the argument between Yuuki and the heathen had been, but it seemed that no one was willing to reveal the content of that heated discussion. Akira closed her blue eyes, shaking her head. Considering everyone involved with the fight was present, she wondered if tonight stood a chance. The last thing she wanted was for a round two to commence. Hmph. As long as he doesn't start anything, I suppose it'll be okay. Akira thought to herself, deciding to give the night and the heathen the benefit of the doubt. She had promised herself to have fun, and she was determined to do just that. Akira decided to test this 'date' rule, so she approached the building, exhaling a nervous breath before taking a step towards the gate. She noticed a familiar face, immediately froze upon said recognition, SHE attends this school!? This is NOT happening... In her peripheral vision, she could clearly make out Devone. This was turning into her worst nightmare! How was she supposed to relax and cut loose with that girl here?

Now that her nerves were on hyper-drive, Akira knew that she had to think fast. She could not let the object of her anxiety locate her in the crowd, Be cool, while she does know this costume, as far as she knows...I am just a boy that works at a maid cafe as a butler... She doesn't know my real secret, even though she knows more than I'm comfortable with. She had to get out of here before Devone recognized her. Perhaps entering at the same time as someone else who was dateless would overrule the 'attending with a date' rule? She just had to wait for someone to try and go in, and she would follow them in immediately. Simple logic, right? Whomever was enforcing the rules would never know, right? Speaking of chaperons, she didn't see a single one in sight. Were the teachers simply hiding? Better yet, why were students expected to have dates by the second day of school? Growing desperate, Akira grabbed the wrist of the closest person to her, which just so happened to be the heathen. Akira immediately rushed inside with him to avoid being seen by her classmates, but especially by Devone. Thankfully, her hunch was right, and she managed to make it inside of the hallway of Himeji Castle without occurrence, "Sorry. Avoiding someone. If you have a date, you can go back to meet them now. I just needed a free ticket inside. Least you could do for punching me in the face." Akira responded with a grin, before releasing Saburo's wrist. Now that she got a good look at him, she couldn't help but admire his choice of Halloween costume. It suited him well, and he looked rather dashing. Had she not known about his anger issues, Akira might have even considered him attractive, especially in this lighting. However, their unusual circumstances kept her from viewing him from even a relatively romantic stance no matter how aesthetically pleasing he appeared in such a uniform. She took a few steps ahead of where she had let go of him, taking in the beauty of the hall. She had to admit, whoever chose this location had excellent taste. She was highly impressed. She almost forgot that the rough-around-the-edges boy was still with her, but perhaps that was because she did not even know his name. Though to be fair, Akira had never offered the heathen (Saburo) her own name either.

[font=calibri]The little Junior caught sight of that sparkle and a shy smile graced her lips. Then it was her cheeks that took on a shade of pink upon hearing, Akira’s comment. Green eyes were kept lowered to avoid meeting steely blue orbs. The tip of a black shoe tapped the ground while her hands were held behind her however it wasn’t until she heard Sora’s comment that Mai’s face turned from pink to red. She couldn’t think of a reply and even if she did, her stutter would not have done it any justice. Regardless, when Akira asked her that one dreaded question that her body stiffened just a bit. It hadn’t occurred to her that Akira wouldn’t know that Bishop had invited her to come along with the two of them. His question took her by surprise but was a bit relieved when someone (Johnny) greeted them. Mai recognized him as the boy she had briefly met during the club recruitment activities and gave him a polite bow of thanks for his overall complement.

Her attention was wrenched back to current times by Akira’s inquiry in regards to Bishop. “I-I h-have n-not.” she said with a nod. Quickly whipping out her phone, Mai remembered that she didn’t have Bishop’s number or Akira’s. It will be something that she will have to ask for eventually but now did not seem like the appropriate moment for it. Looking around, Mai noticed that a few more students had appeared and many of them chose to bare their skin. Suddenly someone popped out of nowhere, yelling out something unintelligible. The small junior jumped in fright, stepping closer to Akira in the process.

Finally Bishop made his appearance and Mai smiled at him. She found his costume to be rather interesting, especially the tails that were somehow moving on their own however her attention was soon swept up by a stranger who approached her. The young man was rather tall so of course he towered over her. "If you're not going together, do you mind going in with me? There are traps set for those without dates.." Her green eyes snapped up quickly to his handsome face and was somewhat startled by the contrasting look of a smirk and eyes full of affection. Initially Mai felt intimidated by his demeanor but the nearly imperceptible blush calmed her nerves, if only somewhat. "I'm Watari, Kei, what's your name?" Realizing that she had just been staring when he had asked her a question, Mai blushed in embarrassment and quickly bowed. “I-I’m K-kon, M-mai Kon. P-plea-pleased t-to me-meet y-you.”

The stutter came out nearly in full force which made Mai even more embarrassed. She looked down at her hands unsure of whether to accept his request but upon hearing Akira’s thoughts about it, Mai felt a little surprised. Green eyes flickered over to Akira but it seemed something had scared him off as he was no longer standing by them. Turning back to Kei, Mai tried to smile. “Ah I-I w-will g-g-o w-wi-ith y-you W-watari-san.” It was quite obvious how nervous Mai was with attending the dance with a complete stranger.

Looking around, Mai noticed that everyone was already heading inside. She nervously peered up at Kei. “S-shall w-we g-go in-inside?” As they entered through the main entrance, Mai looked around in awe. She had never been in such a grand building before. It would seem they were walking into the courtyard which Mai also thought was beautifully designed. In her own way, she began taking note of how the grounds were set up. Music was also beginning to play and there were various couples who were already dancing as well. She paused, a bit unsure of what to do in this particular case. Mai had yet to dance with anyone besides her father and the only dance she knew was for the Rangers Unite! Songs. It was also the first time she had ever been asked out by someone, who was not only taller than her, but was rather handsome as well. This made her a bit nervous about messing up in front of him.

At the comment of his name, Bishop blushed in surprise. People's reactions to his name were rather unique, his name was different but it seemed normal to him. Well normal enough at least. It was no more unique than Skylar's name, which he thought was pretty endearing. Back to the matter at hand, Bishop still had a lingerie cop cuddling with his tails. But she seemed to perk up hearing that there was a 'real' happening beyond the courtyard where people were dancing and having a good time. "You mean we're not even at the heart of the party yet?! O-M-G let's go!" "Alright, sounds like a-ahh~!" Bishop nearly fell over when Skyla glomped him from behind, all smiles and giggles while she peered over his shoulder. He turned to look her in the eyes, only to blush at how close she was, not to mention the feeling of her chest on his back, knowing the outfit she was wearing. It'd get any teenage boy's blood going. "Hey, you're pretty cute up close. Boink!" Bishop opened his mouth to speak but her nose pinch distracted him, making his face screw up. "H-Hey~!"

He turned around to get Skylar off of him but she managed to spin off and was heading towards the dance floor. He saw her twirling and skipping along then ran forward to catch up with his date (Skylar)where the music was getting louder. He entered the dance floor right as the song chained to an upbeat electronic song. In his mind h wanted to try and remember it so he could download it later, maybe he should ask the DJ? He looked to Skylar who was doing an adorable little number making like... Cat paws? That's what it looked like to him, which he just rolled with. "Come onnn. Show me you got the moves like Jagger!" Bishop smiled, feeling the nine tails sway excitedly behind him. "Be careful what you ask for!" Bishop actually loved to dance. He smiled wide getting in the moment and grabbed Skylar's wrist to pull her on the dance floor. From their he began to dance, the tail swaying counter to him, which was an interesting sight on it's own.

Bishop laughed and raised his hands to the beat, swaying his hips with a surprising sync to the rhythm. the occasional shoulder roll here, shifting his weight and balance and Bishop was completely in the groove of things. He was naturally skilled dancer, he wasn't break dancing but the blonde's enthusiasm and talent excited the energy around him hopefully making other people want to dance or dance more freely. He looked to Skylar as his blue eyes kept changing different shades and hues of blue as the flights flickered and spun above and around them. His eyes would catch a few familiar faces, his senior Arietta in a priestess costume with her date (Tadashi) the guy who's arms she fell into, who was either a dapper gentlemen or a vampire- maybe a dapper gentlemen vampire? Behind him was Gen and Johnny by a few meters. His dancing was overshadowed by the taller boy's break-dancing but Bishop was too modest for the limelight anyways. He just wanted his date and friends to have a good time, if they were ok then so was he. as an after thought he wondered about his friends he was suppose to meet up with, Akira and Mai. Last he saw a guy (Kei) asked Mai out and he must have entirely missed Akira or he hadn't shown up yet. Shaking those thoughts away, Bishop smiled in a hopeful and kind manner towards his date (Skylar) and moved a little closer. He was a care free teenager out on a date with a girl in Japan, what better night could any boy ask for?

Kei's date left him to himself to get fresh air away from the crowd claiming that she was not feeling well. Considering his...problem.... Kei did not mind that the girl left his company one bit. In fact, he felt quite relieved to be free. He spotted two guys (Rhys and Akira) and a girl (Shiori) chatting it up, so he decided to approach, as one of the boys knew Kei's date. It would be okay to mingle, considering he wasn't glued to his last minute date. Kei ruffled the shorter boy's (Akira's) hair as he approached him from behind, realizing that it was a wig shortly after his fingers met the synthetic fibers. A visible frown formed on Kei's face, disappointed that he had not come into contact with actual human hair. Though now he was curious what this kid's real hair color was. He withheld from swiping the wig from Akira's head, but it didn't change the fact that it was extremely tempting, "Wig..." Kei sighed, obviously not pleased with the handful of fake hair he'd tousled. He did nothing to hide his displeased facial expression, not bothered if Akira knew he was disappointed or not. Though had had been hoping the hair was real, as it had appeared rather soft from a distance. He felt like a child that had been given fake tickets to Disneyland...

His eyes met that of the taller male that his acquaintance was talking to, a warm smile immediately spreading across Kei's lips, "Watari, Kei. Sorry to intrude, but my date decided to play a vanishing act." He let out a sigh, coming across as quite aloof for someone who had been ditched. His steel blue eyes shifted to Shiori, both visibly widening. The outfit brought a bright red blush to Kei's cheeks, much to his own embarrassment. He had not paid much attention to the skimpy costumes many of the girls chose to sport at this function until now. In his defense, he had been paying most of his attention to Mai, and considering his date had been dressed like a middle schooler, the girl standing before him nearly gave him a heart attack. He definitely preferred when the girls kept their assets covered up. Though don't get the wrong idea, Kei was definitely attracted to women, he simply could not handle so much skin being exposed, as he was easily embarrassed. The girl before him was dangerously beautiful.

Realizing his situation was dire, Kei averted his gaze immediately to the tall male (Rhys), whom Kei assumed to be the ebony haired girl's (Shiori's) date, hoping that neither would be offended by his temporary state of gawking like an imbecile. He cleared his throat, seizing Akira's small wrist and gave the Neko one good tug before leading him away. Kei continued pulling the smaller boy towards the dance floor, "Let's not crash their date. Come dance with me instead." Kei stated as he dragged Akira to the dance floor by the wrist, smirking back at the couple he'd just met. Once on the floor with his kidnapped dance partner, Kei released the boy's wrist and began to dance. His style was somewhere between JPOP and street dance, but overall he knew how to move his body enough to not make a fool out of himself. His hips were not frozen in place, nor was he afraid to move them. His dancing style was relaxed and it was obvious he enjoyed dance by the energy he put into it. He wasn't sure that the boy he'd abducted would go along, but he didn't think it was fair if either of them bothered another couple, besides, dancing with a boy was much easier than dancing with a girl would have been for Kei. He was happy just to have someone he could touch without suffering mental anguish.

He gazed upon the slightly shorter boy (Akira) hoping that he would not abandon him on the dance floor. While Kei did not mind dancing alone, it would still be a rather huge blow to his ego. He also had an ulterior motive. He hoped that while they danced the boy's wig would fall off, and eventually reveal his true hair color to Kei. Those silver-blue eyes of his closed as he allowed the music to consume him, silently singing along to the song as he moved. To Kei, music was amazing. It was one of the greatest things in the world, placing shortly behind sports in Kei's personal opinion, "So where's your date...?" He asked quirking a brow at Akira, his eyes landing on the boy's exposed abdomen, shamelessly admiring his athletic build and exposed skin, not embarrassed like he had been with Shiori, seeing as he was under the impression that Akira was a male. He found it much less intimidating to flirt with men after all. He had to admit, he was kicking himself for not asking this boy to be his date to the dance.

Rhys was greatly relieved when Shiori greeted Akira politely. Although it was not as friendly as his greeting had been, it was still a lot better than what he had anticipated. He looked over his friend’s costume which involved a lot of fur and gave him the impression that Akira really liked Halloween and playing dress up. Rhys would’ve worried that such a furry outfit could be heated and itchy but Akira had gone to such lengths for the night. The costume still probably suited Akira more than Rhys. If Rhys had worn it, he felt he would have come across more like the boogie man or an abominable snowman. In other words, it would not look good.
"Me and another kid rushed in together, it worked like a charm." Rhys stopped looking for Akira’s missing date but he was still curious who he had rushed in with and why Akira didn’t get a real date like everyone else. Was he not interested in going with anyone? ”Not bad but I’m surprised... would’ve thought a popular guy like you would have a date for sure.” he teased with a smirk on his face trying to gauge Akira’s reaction. He had witnessed Akira flirt about a bit with girls like Yuuki so it really was a surprise he was hanging around the party on his lonesome.

Rhys noticed a grin growing upon Akira’s facial features as he turned between him and Shiori. He forgot that attending with his senior would be something for others to raise a few eyebrows about. Rhys had been worrying most about Shiori’s perspective and continued to as being at the dance together naturally indicated romantic intentions between them. "So.. You two are dates? I could see it, you do suit each other now that I look at you.." Instead of reacting right away, Rhys looked down by his side where Shiori stood to see how she was taking the comment. Reading the confused expression on the senior’s face, his eyes lowered and he cupped his mouth as if he was about to cough. Rhys found it humorous that Shiori appeared clueless to what Akira was suggesting but it would make the night go by easier, his hand hiding his amused smile. When he removed his hand to resume his usual expression, Akira had already decided to change topic so there was no need for him to add anything to Akira’s observation of them as dates.

"Shiori-Senpai, you look beautiful. Like a doll or something. Sorry for the other day. Forgive me, Kay~?" Rhys remained silent letting the two talk over their issues for however long they needed. He hoped that Shiori would accept Akira’s apology, considering Akira as a friend and not the type to mean harm to anyone. They also both came from the same home country where body language was not as conservative as Japan’s so as far as he understood, it was a misunderstanding. "I will, but definitely not for your sake, I assure you." Rhys’ eyes focused on his senior as he contemplated the words of her choosing, wondering by whose sake did she mean. Is it for hers or mine? "As a sign of good faith, I'd appreciate it if you refrain from ever touching me again, Blake-San." His eyes returned to Akira finding the terms reasonable but also confusing. Why did Shiori not raise those terms against him too? Rhys pushed the hat down over his head more. Well, we’re dates for tonight so it’s almost unavoidable but tomorrow could be another day...

"Did you guys just get here?" ”Yeah, my fault.” Rhys openly took the blame for their late arrival. He did get his costume last minute and failed to organize their transportation beforehand. Rhys didn’t know how long it would take to get to the castle let alone how to get there. He should’ve done some research too but it wasn’t something he’d normally worry about. Rhys was used to finding his way eventually, making him feel responsible and selfish for not thinking about Shiori’s upper class upbringing and her expectations for being escorted. The whole event was a last minute rush on his part.
A new guy (Kei) with the look of a samurai approached their group, specifically Akira by ruffling his hair. "Wig...""Watari, Kei. Sorry to intrude, but my date decided to play a vanishing act." Rhys just assumed Kei to be a friend of Akira’s with the way he messed with his hair and a friend of a friend, was a friend of his too he supposed. ”It’s fine.” Before anything else could be said, the newcomer started gawking at Shiori causing Rhys to look away with his hand rubbing his neck. His mouth moved to make out a ‘tsk’ but no sound could be heard as he tried to remain polite despite his obvious disapproval. Rhys had been controlling his own reaction towards Shiori’s attire but it all seemed in vain if another guy would come along and gawk anyway.

Thankfully, Kei was made aware of his actions as he averted his gaze elsewhere. Rhys couldn’t hide a hint of a glare as they made eye contact. He didn’t appreciate the lack of self-control the guy had demonstrated in front of Shiori but if Shiori would be able to look past the situation, then he would follow suit. Rhys hoped this minor detail wouldn’t ruin the night for her but there was no way to be sure. His senior could swing back and forth from a sourpuss to a shy kitten and he simply didn’t understand how the minds of women worked.
When Kei and Akira left them to join the rest of their peers dancing, he gave Shiori his full attention in case she had something to say until he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. Rhys quickly pulled out the phone to take a look, sighing as he read the unexpected message. ”The school assigned me to organize a game of Murder in the Dark. Sorry about this, must be a scholarship student thing.” He pocketed the phone away hoping Shiori wouldn't be too disappointed and smirked at an idea, ”Care to join me?” Rhys had no intention of leaving Shiori on her own and thought getting her involved with her peers more would be good for her. The game was a chance for them both to meet new people and ease the tension of being each other’s dates.

Image”Not bad but I’m surprised... would’ve thought a popular guy like you would have a date for sure.”

At that news Shiori nearly scoffed, but she managed to contain her amusement. She was trying to play nice, despite her disdain towards the bakeneko standing before her. She simply smirked, closing her eyes to compose herself. Those violet eyes of her's would surely give her away and insult her date's guest. The last thing she wished for was to cause Rhys any unnecessary turmoil or stress. Honestly, to Shiori it was not that surprising, but again, she was supposed to be civil, so Shiori kept her mouth shut despite the venom that so badly wished to be released against Akira. Shiori however could not deny that Akira was popular, but how was simply a mystery. She would never understand what people saw in guys like Akira. She brushed a few strands of hair behind her ear, gazing between the boys as they conversed.

Shiori tilted her head, becoming worried about Rhys. It seemed he was about to cough, making her immediately wonder if he had gotten sick on his way to pick her up. Had she of known he would walk, she would have arranged for one of the Kitogawa family cars to pick him up. She bit the inside of her cheek, deciding she would keep a close eye on him. She wouldn't be able to enjoy her birthday if her date was ill after all. She wasn't selfish enough to brush aside the prospect that he might be under the weather because of her.. Though the thought did make her happy, which left her baffled. The fact that he might have gotten sick just to attend the dance with her... was it sadistic for Shiori to feel happy about that?

"Did you guys just get here?"

Shiori nodded her head, looking around the room briefly. She noticed her cousin Tsukiko dancing with Miyamoto, and Gen dancing with the junior named Johnny that she had met on the first day with Yuuki. Shiori's amethyst eyes returned to Rhys and Akira, about to speak, but then Rhys replied to Akira before the words could come out. Perhaps it was for the best. She wasn't feeling especially social where Akira was concerned.

”Yeah, my fault.”

Shiori gazed up at Rhys despite their height difference. She did not blame him for their lateness, considering he was not old enough to have a license. She then shrugged her shoulders in a nonchalant manner, not putting a lot of weight into the fact that they did not appear to the dance in society's idea of a punctual amount of time. She honestly did not care what anyone thought, at least not tonight. Shiori jumped out of her skin when the energetic samurai (Kei) approached the group. She did not know who the boy touching Akira so freely was, but she did not wish to be closer to the stranger than absolutely necessary, and her cautionary step back revealed that to anyone who paid enough attention.

"Wig..."

That is somewhat customary on Halloween... Shiori thought to herself, rolling her eyes. While she had nothing against the newcomer pouting about the wig on Akira's head, he seemed friendly with Akira, more so than even Rhys, so she began to wonder if he had the same affliction as Akira. She couldn't help but laugh however, considering the boy seemed genuinely displeased, almost like a puppy whose ball was thrown over a wooden fence. She stifled her laugh behind one hand, biting her bottom lip to reassemble herself. It was not very polite to laugh at others, especially strangers.

"Watari, Kei. Sorry to intrude, but my date decided to play a vanishing act."

"Kitogawa, Shiori. It's a pleasure to meet you." Shiori responded in a cordial manner. She was not exactly friendly, but she was at least showing her manners. She had repeated those words at so many business dinner parties that they came out somewhat monotone and rehearsed. The boy had not touched or shot an insult at her yet, so perhaps this new encounter would go smoother than most. Then he began gawking at her. Shiori immediately froze. Why is he looking at me like that?! Shiori immediately felt violated, although he had never actually touched her. She had never felt like this before, but suddenly she regretted the costume that Kazuhiko chose for her. She looked to Rhys, noticing his irritation. She immediately used her witch's cloak to hide her body to the best of her ability, clinging it to her body in attempt to conceal her exposed skin. While she wanted to scream at him for his disrespectful gaze, Kei left her alone with her senior, removing Akira from their presence. Well...at least the samurai did one thing right... Shiori thought to herself with a frown on her face.

Shiori checked her phone, which was previously tucked into a pocket conveniently placed on the inside of her cloak. Apparently there was going to be a game played in the dark. The title was intimidating, causing Shiori to shiver. If Halloween wasn't creepy enough, there was an added scare of being touched or groped in the dark! She'd seen games like this played in many manga that she'd read, but she never had participated in any games like this. No way. I am not playing.

”The school assigned me to organize a game of Murder in the Dark. Sorry about this, must be a scholarship student thing.”

"You don't have to apologize for helping others, not to me at least." Shiori responded, not really sure why he felt the need. She wasn't the clingy type, so she did not realize that most girls her age might have thrown a tantrum on their date for having even one moment of their birthday interrupted or inconvenienced. Shiori did wonder where the chaperones were, now that he brought up school. Thus far, she did not see a single teacher in sight. It was extremely...odd... The game sounds scary. I'm not playing, not in a million years. No amount of money could ever make me pla-

”Care to join me?”

She wouldn't have normally thought about it, any other time she would have responded with a firm no.... but that smirk caused her heart to pound in her chest. She felt immediately immobilized. The expression brought her a sense of worry, but it captivated her as well. Did he have a prank in mind using her fear of monsters and being touched? Did he plan to use her jumpy behavior to his amusement? Even so, she couldn't be angry when he looked at her, especially like that, "I-It's better than the alternative. I'll play." She responded, turning her gaze away. She couldn't keep eye contact if he was going to make expressions like that. It was too dangerous for her heart. Looking at Rhys in costume, smirking at her like that, it was an aesthetic assault that her heart could not handle.

At five thirty Kei was abruptly awaken from his peaceful sleep by chattering birds, in fact, they were chirping right by his bedroom window! The inconsiderate bastards. He glared at the rays of dim light that seeped through the blinds, wishing he could get a few more precious moments of sleep. When he was absolutely certain that the annoying feathered creatures and the rain patterning against the roof had managed to ruin any chance he had of returning to sleep, Kei slung himself out of bed with a grumble. To say he was NOT a morning person would be a rather enormous understatement. He trudged into the bathroom with his school uniform in tow. He stripped with a sigh, and stepped into the shower, going through the motions of his day in a fog.

He did not even fully brighten up until his mother passed him a mug of coffee to begin his morning. Taking a seat at the kitchen table, he began sipping at the caffeine, hoping that it would prepare him for the day of school ahead of him, because all he wanted to do at the moment was crawl back into his bed, or perhaps shoot those damn birds....but that was another urge entirely, one that would likely be frowned upon by the neighbors. As he sat with his mother, clad in only his Airdalen uniform pants, a towel still hanging on his damp ebony hair someone knocked at the door. As his father had already left for work, Kei took it upon himself to answer the door in his mother's stead. It was just a man passing out fliers, but he wasn't in the mood for their sales pitch, not today. He bluntly voiced his disinterest, adjusting the towel on his head before shutting the door in the older man's face. Without missing a beat, Kei returned to the kitchen, just in time to catch a glimpse of his mother cooking dinner. They were well off enough and had plenty of servants for such tedious tasks, but for some reason Kei's mother insisted on cooking the family's meals. It brought a smile to the boy's lips, the first one of the morning. Eggs. He could smell the eggs and the bacon. Perhaps today would go better than he expected? He retrieved his mug from the spacious kitchen counter and sat down, taking another sip. His mother did not ask him about school or the dance, but that was exactly how Kei preferred it.

Talking about school had been difficult since the untimely death of Kei's twin sister and it did not take either of his parents to realize that it was a triggering topic for their son. As time went on, the family simply kept school out of their conversations entirely. They received a copy of his grades in the mail anyhow, so why did they really need to talk about it? Kei found things like that to be more monotonous than they were worth. He spent the remainder of his free time eating with his mother, talking about their next family trip and eating breakfast with his mother. The conversation was slow and strained at best, seeing as they had not been on a single vacation since his sister's death. It put a lot of strain on his mood, but Kei remained civil. It had been years after all, and a vacation did mean a lot of relaxation, he was totally down for that.

He washed the dishes, seeing as there wasn't a lot to do and he had nothing but time to kill. There was still an hour before school after all. Damn birds... I could have still been asleep if it wasn't for them.. He thought to himself with a shake of his head, making quick work of the morning dishes. Checking the clock, he decided that time wasn't going to pass any quicker, so he threw on his button up and blazer, his mother adjusting his tie for him, as he could not manage to tie one even if to save his own life, "Thanks mom." He smiled to his mother, his silver-blue eyes softening as he waved goodbye. He chose to ride his bike, because to be honest, he needed the exercise. He then looked up at the sky remembering the rain, before pushing his bike back into the garage, "Mom! Can I catch a ride with you?" He asked, pointing toward the sky. She smiled and ushered for him to hurry up, so he ran toward the car, which she had nearly pulled out of the driveway. Lucky! He thought to himself, slipping into the passenger's seat before buckling himself in.

The drive itself was uneventful, but once he arrived at Airdalen, his mom retrieved an umbrella from the back seat, handing it to him, "Don't get wet. You'll get sick.." She looked to her son with worry, as any mother would for her only remaining child. She smiled weakly, caressing his cheek with her thumb before kissing his cheek goodbye, "M-Mom!" He snapped with a bright red blush on his face, wiping the spot that her lips had touched with the sleeve of his shirt. He gazed around to make sure that no one saw, before stepping out, unfolding the umbrella and running off towards the auditorium.

He stood outside under the shelter of his umbrella, letting the sound of the rain soothe him, seeing as he was way too early for his own liking. A frown developed on his features now that he was alone and he let himself recall the night before. He smiled remembering the boy he had danced with, Akira. He had been a pleasant companion, cute enough, but he wasn't someone Kei could see himself developing a genuine romantic interest in. They were far too much alike and the other boy was far too shy. Too bad, because he was physically right up Kei's alley. Seems there is always one deal breaker or another... He was cute too.. Almost girl cute.. Maybe I've been cursed to die alone as penance? A bitter smirk formed on his lips at the thought and he couldn't help but laugh at himself. However, he couldn't deny that it felt that way at times... This rain, while it calmed him, it also gave him too much room to think and brood on the past. It wasn't healthy, but when he was alone, who else would accompany him?

"Farewell, fair cruelty…"
Gen quoted from Shakespeare as she awoke to her empty abode. Slowly goosebumps crawled over her arms as the fear of being alone began to settle in causing her to toss her blanket aside and make a dash for the bathroom. Locking the door behind her, she slid down it and covered her ears. Stop, stop, stop... she kept begging for her incessant fearful thoughts to go away but they were hard to shake. Her mind kept imagining the worst scenarios like a stranger entering her home with the intention of harm. She bit her lip hard that it almost bled, trembling from head to toe as she hid from an imaginary foe. This was not the side she would let just anyone see. I've locked the door and I can't hear anyone present here but me... Gen did her best to reasses the situation and get over her morning panic attack but she wasn't sure how long she could live alone for without going insane. If she hadn't been so worn down from the party, she definitely wouldn't have managed a moment of sleep.

After quickly getting ready for school, she waited outside her apartment to catch a taxi. Her regular school routine would be to catch the bus but she was not in the mood for it today. It was very relieving to be around the city hustle as everyone was making their way to school or work. She sighed softly, closing her eyes feeling at peace even as the rain pattered against her white umbrella acting as her only shield from the weather. A raincoat would be too unfashionable for her taste. When the taxi arrived, Gen stepped and sat in eloquently only required to say "Airdalen please~" The high school renowned enough that it was not necessary for her to divulge its address.
During the drive to keep her mind busy, she retrieved her English textbook from her school bag and flicked through the pages until she reached where she was last up to after the club festivities had concluded.
"Save that my soul’s imaginary sight
Presents thy shadow to my sightless view,
Which, like a jewel hung in ghastly night,
Makes black night beauteous and her old face new...."

Gen closed her eyes in thought over Shakespeare's sonnet, committing the words to memory. The mention of a black night made her recall the night before and her attendance at the Halloween dance. “I could never tell a lie to a pretty face like that,” Johnny's words echoed in her head. She had been initially flattered that he had called her pretty even if she did not have the confidence to believe it herself. However the words that followed, “I was really asking around at random, because I was new here, and I didn’t know anybody." It was honest and fair of him to say but it still stung. I was... random? She contemplated. Gen wasn't exactly sure what she had been hoping for. She did meet Johnny on the same day he had invited her to attend the dance with him. “I can’t help helping people, you know? Jus’ the kinda guy I am.” Did I appear to be like a damsel or like a fool? Gen's insecurities arose at the idea that there was more meaning behind Johnny's words if she were to read between the lines. In her mind, it served as confirmation that he did ask her out of pity rather than interest and it did not meet up with her ideal for a romantic evening. Oh well. she held back her sigh this time. In the end, she did appreciate his honesty and she had no quarrels with being friends. If I had been in his place, I might have done the same.

The taxi stopped outside the gates as Gen put away her book and stepped out with her white umbrella again in hand. It was still a little early until the morning assembly but she had nowhere else to go or anything else to occupy her morning today. Gen had desired to leave immediately to avoid more time on her own. She clasped the umbrella's handle tightly for comfort as she walked toward where the auditorium is in all her feminine graces. Nobody could have possibly known that she had broken down that same morning.
The more she ventured into the school grounds, the closer she could hear someone playing a familiar melody. It was on the tip of her tongue but she couldn't quite recall. It was lovely though and the reason her lips surfaced a small smile. Upon reaching the building, she came across an unfamiliar student also under an umbrella of his own. He (Kei) had dark hair and wore a depressing expression that urged her to step forward. It was a funny situation actually, as it made her think of how Johnny had aided her at random as well. "Good morning~" she greeted in her usual lady-like, light-hearted tone. "Did you perchance attend the Halloween dance last night? I was not fortunate enough to catch you in costume." she said with a closed eyes smile hoping she had started the conversation well enough. She did not want to settle with the weather as a dreary ice breaker. Far too cliched and she was genuinely interested in hearing about his costume choice. Being in the clubs that she chose, costumes were an essential element and he would additionally make for a handsome recruit if he was interested.

-New day-

"Arietta! Arietta! You're going to be late!"

Arietta woke to her grandmother shaking her again. It seemed that it was becoming somewhat of a routine experience, one that Arietta was starting to loathe. Arietta groaned, attempting to roll over, but the universe had other plans. Arietta was abruptly tugged out of her bed and met the unforgiving floor. Arietta landed on her butt, a frown on her face as she glared up at her grandmother. Arietta was certain of one thing; if she attended another party she would surely die of sleep deprivation. However, as she recalled the night before, a smile splayed across her lips. It had been absolutely perfect. Arietta sighed, looking up to her grandmother, "Alright, Alright. I'm up." She replied amidst a yawn, pushing herself off of the floor. She slipped into the shower and emerged forty minutes after in just a towel, scampering off to her bedroom. She dressed with very little enthusiasm considering Arietta wasn't a morning person but smiled into the vanity mirror when she began brushing her hair. Arietta checked her phone, staring down at the pictures she had taken with Tadashi, a dark blush forming on her cheeks. Just replaying the night in her head was embarrassing enough. She had admitted she was feeling insecure about her costume choice, and he did his best to comfort her.. but just the fact that she had been honest was unnerving. Would he tell anyone?

Once she was ready, Arietta glanced in her full-length mirror, brushing off her skirt. Arietta locked her bedroom door behind her, with her school bag in hand. She didn't want her grandfather being the nosy person that he always was. She was too old for him to go about searching her room as if he had the right to do so. It wasn't like she was a delinquent. Her grades were above average, she did not smoke and she drank only on occasion. All in all, in Arietta's own opinion, she was a fairly well behaved teenage girl. The drive to Airdalen Academy was quiet and uneventful, as neither she or her grandmother had gotten much sleep. When they made it to the school, Arietta leaned over and gave her grandmother a tight hug before exiting the car, "Have someone pick me up from school. I don't feel like walking home today." Arietta called out before making her way in the gates. She took her time, admiring the scenery. It wasn't like classes were about to begin or anything. There was an announcement in the auditorium after all. She assumed it would be class presidents or something along those lines, which did not interest Arietta at all. Honestly, she wished she could use the extra time to regain a little much-needed shuteye. She proceeded towards the auditorium, smiling when she recognized Gen. She seemed to be talking to a boy (Kei), but Arietta was not familiar with him. He was taller than Arietta, but most guys were so that wasn't much of an indicator. As she grew closer she realized that he was also rather attractive, not in a supermodel kind of way... but perhaps he held a certain boy-next-door appeal. She decided to not interrupt, so she simply waved to Gen and spoke a quick greeting to show that she acknowledged her fellow Showstopper, "Ohayo~"

Arietta shot a friendly smile in the boy's (Kei's) direction, then entered the auditorium without another word to the duo. Arietta took a seat smack dab in the center of the middle row, opening her history book. There wasn't really anyone around, so it wouldn't hurt to do a little studying. Would it? Besides, now that Saburo no longer attended Airdalen, she had no one to tutor. She lost her study time as well as her method of obtaining extra cash. It wasn't like she could announce that she was a bit of a bookworm to everyone. Being studious did little to aid a girl's popularity. Shiori, Arietta's sworn enemy was a clear indication that being smart did not help one make friends. Playing dumb allowed Arietta to hang out with people who would never look twice at her if she revealed her true self. It was fake, but at least she was well liked. She had her entire adult life to prove how smart she was, but while she was in high school, Arietta wished to be seen just as popular and beautiful. Was that really so wrong?

Arietta blinked when she began to read about the feudal era, one of her favorite bits of Japanese history. Her eyes began skittering through the words on the pages, enamored by the details. With each paragraph, Arietta became less and less aware of her surroundings. She was hanging on every word that the textbook had to offer. She gave each picture a quick glance, flipping the pages afterward. She really hoped that they would be able to finish the textbook before the year was over, but she highly doubted it. There were always stragglers when it came to the course material. She had never been in one class where they had ever completed a textbook, but it was on her bucket list. She hoped to one day be among students who were as passionate about learning as she was, but who could also let loose and have fun. She absolutely hated uptight nerds. It was the know-it-alls like Shiori that drove Arietta to pretend she was struggling in school. She did not want to be confused for someone like Shiori, ever. That was not the way Arietta wished to portray herself to her classmates, nor was it how she wished to be remembered by her graduating class. Would they be surprised at their ten-year reunion when Arietta did NOT turn out to be a show wife? Probably. Would Arietta regret fooling her classmates for so long? Probably. Would that change her mind? Hell no. Arietta heard no traces of movement, no one was sitting with her to judge her, she could relax for a moment.

[new day]

"A storm could be brewing..."
he said, shifting his hood a little more over his brown locks of hair. The rain droplets continued to slide down his see-through raincoat that wrapped tightly around his lean frame. Rocco's morning had been average but he knew the rest of the day would not be. It was his first day attending this high school and he had been dreading it the moment he got off the plane. It wasn't like he could expect everything to suddenly change, that his gloomy, unforgiving and pessimistic world would just tear apart and reveal a rainbow. Unlike the rain, he was sure his bitterness would not pass. His past would not pass.

As he reached the entry point of the auditorium, a few faces caught his eye but he kept his hood down and walked onward. A pale girl with blue hair (Gen) and a boy with shaggy hair (Kei). Their appearances could not be more opposite as Rocco wondered for a passing moment why the two were even near each other. Didn't the high school have cliques? Groups that would only sit with one of their kind? That was how his previous high school worked anyway. Maybe the Japanese had a different idea of exclusion, popularity, and hierarchy or maybe they just save face but that's even worse.

When he entered the building, he removed his hood and wiped off the remaining water stragglers from his forehead. The auditorium looked a lot bigger on the outside compared to the inside. Either he overestimated it or there was more to the auditorium than it looked on first glances like extra rooms or a wide backstage area. They have a drama club or something I think? he pulled out his phone from his pants pocket and scrolled down the touchscreen for the club listing. Bingo. There wasn't anything else for him to do until the faculty arrived so why not investigate?

Rocco gazed up from his phone to analyze the infrastructure but a flash of yellow like sunlight captured his attention. Huh? He turned his head instantly wondering if he had just been seeing things. The weather was definitely not of the sunny type and it couldn't be more bipolar here than the weather of his home country. Back home, 5 minutes of rain then 5 minutes of sunshine would not surprise me. Rocco's eyes moved from corner to corner of the hall until he identified the yellow color to belong to long flowing locks of hair. A girl? You can never really tell... The shape of the person's body was hidden from the back by the chair so the only way he could be sure was to approach closer. And the closer he got, the more sure he was that it was indeed a girl. They tend to smell sweeter... he thought, a trace of a smirk on his lips.

"Hey, pretty lady. What you reading?"
Rocco leaned over the blonde girl's shoulder (Arietta) as he spoke, not afraid to invade her personal space or give her a little scare.
She did not strike him as the bookworm type but to each their own. He didn't even bother to check the contents of what she was reading because he didn't care.
Regardless of how she would react, he removed his bag from off his shoulder and dropped it on the ground before plopping down on the chair beside her. With his arms sprawled out like he was exhausted over the top of the chairs to his sides including hers, he slumped casually and yawned not even going to the trouble of covering his mouth.

"I guess we're early. The staff must really suck here to not be here before us. A shame."
Rocco said casually, not afraid to insult Airdalen. He was a new student and an international one. It would be unheard of if Airdalen would have the audacity to kick him out on his first day for something so petty like a true insult. He kept his eyes on the ceiling adding to his boredom but his light smirk never left as if he had reason to be mischievously pleased.

"I run and run
through the blistering winds and
rain so, that I could reach you
and hoping at the very least to
touch you even once, so let me
reach you just this once."
─────────────────────────

Run faster.

Run harder.

Don't look back.

Those words echoed in his head repeatedly as he run through the streets for his daily morning run. The rain didn't stop him from doing it. More like, it motivated him to even run at a faster pace and a longer trail. The rain as well did not relent as he was completely drenched in a mixture of water and sweat. His coal black hair clung to his face and water droplets also ran a trail across his skin. If anyone wold see him, they would think he was doing a sexy commercial or something like that, but that was far from the truth. He was simply refocusing himself on what matters to him. It was also helpful on his part about the weather as it meant those neighborhood women won't be able to bother him with their fancies. That's why he could run without any hassle, as fast as he can.

His eyes right now held a spark of desperation as he breezes through his pathway. It's like he was running after something, yearning to reach out to it as far as he can. That's why he must be a trailblazer so, he would be able to catch up, but no matter how hard he did so, his hands never reach or even graze that goal of his. He would always be a centimeter away. It was frustrating. It was a simmering ember of a raging fire inside him. His thoughts swirled at those ideas and his feet carried him faithfully across the path.

He only broke from his self-imposed trance when his watch alarmed meaning that his morning run is done for now. He stopped on his tracks and raised his head to look at the dark clouds bringing the rain. His breathing was ragged and somehow, one could see a track of liquid trailing from his eyes then again, it could just be the rain. There was no way that someone like Ryou would cry, is it? It was impossible. He stood like that for a while then afterwards, he returned back to the house, clearly drenched from head to toe. He was half-expecting his Aunt to burst on him about his health and to take off his wet clothes instantly, but then he remembered that he was alone at the moment. Everyone was out and then would be returning in the afternoon even his kid brother. It was eerily quiet, but somehow, he was used to it far more than he would think. Well, the only thing he could do now is to clean up after himself since he was making a puddle underneath his feet. A shower would be a good thing for him to do.

He went to his room and from the corner of his eyes, he saw the costume he wore last night. The events of the party replayed inside his head. He became Devone Kim's date unexpectedly and he was better off than taking those raving girls surrounding him. Their time together was what he would call at best interesting. He was her escort and he did what is to be expected of his position at that night. There were moments that he pushed the boundary, but never crossed it. He accommodated the role as her date for only that night. Right now is a new day and things are now different. All of him is still dedicated to her. It was something that never changes. Well, he now has a story to tell her and he was looking forward to it, someday.

After a while, he was done with his morning rituals. He was now in his uniform all clean and proper. He then made himself a simple breakfast of toast and butter. He finished his meal and cleaned up as well, when that was done, he heard his phone ringing and went to answer it. The caller was Hikaru who asked him to pick him up later. He promised and after a short exchange, the call ended. It seemed that he would need to get home early today, since he would be fetching Hikaru. It was a brotherly duty and he didn't really mind at all. It was at this moment that he was rather grateful that he was the Basketball Captain, he can use his authority to leave early and have his vice-captain handle the rest.

Anyway, he finally made his way to Airdalen with his usual commuters' trail. Many had asked to share an umbrella with him along the way, but he refused all of them. He just doesn't see the logic of sharing the umbrella when he could see that they already have one. When he rode his bus, he could see people crowding to each other for warmth but, he didn't understand why they need to converge around him. Japanese people are really weird. Then again, he was also one of them right now. He chose to ignore their curious looks as he proceeded to take out his text book. He remembered his physics teacher like having a quiz before the class start to recall. It won't be bad to review some points.

That's what he did for the entire duration of his bus trip. By the end, he was able to memorize some formulas and theories. He then exited the bus and soon entered the school premises. There were not much students present. It could be about the weather or about something else. It was then he remembered that today would be the announcement of the new representatives. The students must be in there. He should go to the Auditorium and so he did where he found familiar faces at the entrance. Good morning. Fukui-san. Watari-san. He greeted them which should be polite manners and he then proceeded inside where he also noted the presence of Arietta and a new guy (Rocco). They were far from him and he wasn't sure that Arietta noticed him, so he simply went on his way not bothering them. He took a seat and decided continue reading his physics book, letting the rain as a soothing music along with that faint humming of melody.
