ImagexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxSECRETS:

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx- Zen -
Graffiti started out as a defiance against her father, but Mao began to actually enjoy it after a while. The rush, the way it brought hope to fellow artists and hearing people brag about her graffiti was nice too, even if she couldn't thank them or accept the compliments to her work in person. Mao's graffiti is rather infamous, rather, in Japan's art community there is a graffiti artist named 'Zen' known by many artists and police alike for their politically themed and inspiring works. Zen has managed to escape police apprehension on many occasions, often fleeing the scene on skateboard or rollerblades. Little is known about Zen's identity, but police believe that Zen is a young biracial male. When out as Zen, Mao wears gas masks and hoods to hide her identity and gender. Since graffiti is considered vandalism and many lose scholarships or are expelled from their schools for doing it, Mao is glad Zen has been deemed a male as it has kept her inconspicuous.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx- Softie -
While Mao has a rowdy and somewhat intimidating exterior presence, on the inside she is sensitive and compassionate like most girls are. She enjoys helping others and will usually go out of her way to do so when she can. While she can come across as a little cold at first, she is really just protecting her heart from the unknown. Her father has done a lot of damage to her self-esteem and finds it hard to trust other people. Once she has become comfortable around you and knows that you do not intend to abuse her friendship or intend to alter her in some way, Mao really warms up to the idea of your company and can be one of the most loyal people you know.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx- Inked -
When Mao was fourteen years old she spent a week with her cousin Akachi. Akachi is a tattoo artist, and like herself is half Japanese and half African. It took quite a bit of convincing, but she managed to talk her cousin into giving her a tattoo. Mao's tattoo is under her bikini line and is something she has managed to keep hidden because of its placement. It is the only one she has, but it means a lot to her and she wouldn't take it back for any amount of money in the world.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx- Academics -
Ever since she was a little girl, Mao has never shown much interest in her school work. She prefers to be left alone to her paints and other crafts. As she has an adventurous soul, Mao is easily distracted and hates the confines of a classroom. Homeschooling never worked out very well either, as she would often skip sessions or zone out on the few times she was forced to attend. Her grades are quite embarrassing, to say the least, and she prefers not to speak about them. Looking at her most recent homework and test scores one might wonder how Mao has made it this far in her education, to begin with.

ImagexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxWEAKNESS:

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx- Tactless -
When she was five, Mao told her best friend that the color of her dress reminded her of baby poop. Obviously, the girl left crying, and Mao was scolded, but she has never been a very convincing liar. If approached with a sensitive topic Mao will almost always blurt out her brutally honest opinion, not understanding that words should often be coated with a thin layer of sugar because honey is smoother on the taste buds than liquor. She has always preferred to be approached with honesty, so she believes everyone should be given an honest answer.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx- Absent-minded -
One of the many prices of being so creative, Mao is often withdrawn from reality entirely. She can often be found daydreaming or wandering around lost in her own thoughts whenever one of her creative spells hit. She often carries around a sketchbook for such reasons, because if she doesn't draw it she loses it. Her ideas leave her forgetful and oblivious to her surroundings, thus at such moments, Mao is quite clumsy despite her otherwise sound footing. She has accidentally missed multiple steps of a stairway and has walked straight off of ledges in the past.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx- Callous -
Although she is kindhearted deep down, on the outside it does not inherently show. When Mao is not comfortable with those around her, the true is not expressed properly, if at all. She can be somewhat of a Tsundere, especially when embarrassed or around someone she likes. Although she may say a few coldhearted things, her blush reveals that she's actually just one big softie.

ImagexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxSTRENGTH:

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx- Artist -
Mao has enjoyed art ever since the moment she discovered that she could put paint on paper and create whatever she wanted, but as she grew older it became an escape from reality, one she welcomed with open arms. Regardless of what happened in her home, on the canvas, she was in charge and she could escape to anywhere she wanted as long as she had the imagination and artistic finesse to bring it to life. Taiwan, America, a fantasy realm with elves and giants, the possibilities were endless. She loves the freedom that comes with art, and just how well it distracts the mind from all the mundane bullshit that life throws at you.t.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx- Sporty Chick -
Due to her high energy levels, Mao enjoys sports immensely. She would always run about the family estate, driving her father and the maids crazy, much to her mother's entertainment. Mao isn't very picky, she doesn't care what kind of sport as long as she knows the rules and is allowed to play. She has spent her entire childhood either outdoors or honing her artistic skills. Athleticism is easily her second passion, and she spends a lot of time lifting weights or doing pull-ups when she is at home. She practices Judo in her free time, as she needs to be able to throw a good punch. Her lifestyle calls for it, a girl roaming the underground and dark alleyways at night isn't exactly wise after all. Whether it is sparring, simple competition, or even skateboarding, Mao loves getting the chance to blow off some steam.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx- Open Mind -
Mao reminds herself often to not judge others because she knows exactly how it feels to be looked down upon and scorned for her life choices. After how her father treated her, Mao tries to never judge a book by its cover, nor a tiger by its stripes. She believes that everyone is worth a second or even third chance. She can keep a secret, despite her high energy and unreliable appearance.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx- Busy Bee -
Mao is good at working hard because hard work builds muscle. She has to keep up her stamina if she wishes to be a successful graffiti artist because a slow Rakugaki artist is an arrested Rakugaki artist. When she is not lost in a fantasy of her own creation, she enjoys helping others and getting her hands dirty. There are very few hands-on jobs that Mao will downright decline to assist with. She loves tackling projects, even if the project is simply helping teachers around the school.

ImagexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxSKILLS:

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx- Photography -
Whether it is taking pictures of nature, animals, or cityscapes, Mao loves taking photos. She doesn't like to have her own picture taken, but she spends quite a bit of time behind the camera when she isn't sketching or living her double life as Zen. She keeps her camera in it's case and inside of her school bag when she isn't using it as it is quite expensive, even for a family as wealthy as her's. Despite being a laidback person she goes the extra mile to treat it with respect.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx- Darts -
Considering most of her company outside of school is from the wrong side of the tracks she has become quite skilled at throwing darts. It isn't something that her parents would condone as it is often synonymous with the 'bar scene', but honestly one of the boys brought their dartboard from home to their usual hangout spot. The entire group competes a few times a week when they aren't skating and while she was skeptical at first she's actually pretty good at it. She doesn't always walk away from the game as the victor, but she has become a worthy opponent and usually scores within the top three.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx- Airsoft -
At first the idea of letting anyone shoot at her, regardless of how 'safe' it was described as seemed to be incredibly nuts, but a few of the guys managed to talk her into competing in Airsoft competitions and Mao has found that she is actually very proficient with an airsoft gun. Their team won second place in the region, and Mao enjoys the rush of the game quite a bit despite how much getting shot hurts. She also has participated in Paintball, but she doesn't like it as much due to the sacrifice of accuracy, but she appreciates how it makes it harder for the teams to cheat the score.

ImagexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxPERSONALITY:

When you first approach Mao she can come across as an unapproachable and aloof young girl as she often reserves her most genuine thoughts and feelings for her close friends and family. She has always been a curious individual and does her best to keep an open mind, something her mother reminded her to do from a young age. Mao doesn't quite understand who she is, or what her place is in the world, and seeks to understand herself and those around her better. However, despite her indecisive traits, Mao has very strict morals and will not allow others to walk all over her. She is very passionate and driven, but it isn't always obvious, as she keeps her personal life, well, private. She does not open up to others very easily but will do anything to help a friend.

Mao was never very popular despite her family's wealth, as she often chooses to create her own path regardless of what anyone else may think. Despite coming from wealth, Mao does not conform to classic 'femininity'. Mao tries her best to always be true to herself, even if it means she'll make more than a few enemies. It's not like she ever had a lot of friends anyhow. She has been called a utopist by those around her, as she spent an exceptionally long time believing in fairy tales and fictional beings as a child. Her mother thought she would never talk sense into Mao, afraid that other children would bully her daughter for her 'nonsense' beliefs. While those days are behind her, Mao does not really care for the 'practical', finding that she prefers fantasy and creativity over the mundane reality of the world any day. She will hang out with just about anyone, so long as they respect her for who she wants to be and do not try to snuff out her sense of individuality.

ImagexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxHISTORY:

Mao is the middle child to her father, a strict no-nonsense politician and her mother, a loving actress. While neither had much time to spend with their kids, Mao's mother spent every moment of her free time spoiling and doting on her children. Her father, on the other hand, has not made any real effort to spend time with his children, nor does he seem particularly enthusiastic when he has spare time at home. Due to her father's indifference, Mao became very interested in politics from a young age, hoping to impress her father with what she had learned. However, when she revealed her opinions on the economy and other political issues, Mao was brought to the realization that her views contradicted her father's political standing, and for the first time she saw him angry.

Her relationship with her father became strained at best, and as the years passed, she began to rebel in the only way that she knew how. Having an affinity for art, she began to express her political views through graffiti. Though as she became more daring, Mao realized that she would have to conceal her identity, thus Zen was born. Mao adopted wearing men's clothes, a gas mask, and a utility belt to secure her different colored spray paints and took the underground art community by storm. She could voice her opinions on politics and express her art for all of Japan to see, yet no one would suspect that she is Zen, because Zen was 'male'. Mao is a girl and the daughter of a famous politician. Who would expect that the famous Zen could be an Airdalen Student by day and become Zen the graffiti artist by night?

Now, Mao is a relatively quiet girl passionate about the arts but disinterested in all other aspects of attending school. She has been Zen for quite some time, but she doesn't let on. In fact, she is considered one of the few known bluebloods to be one of Zen's self-proclaimed fans despite the fact that Zen's political views are the polar opposite of her father's. Her relationship with her father has been practically non-existent ever since she stated in a public interview that she admires Zen.

Mao stood underneath a tree for nearly an hour, just staring up at the rain. Why? For one, her politician of a father made sure that she arrived at an early hour for her first day. She transferred late due to some unforeseen issues at her previous school. Now, here she was, starting all over with her father watching her every move. On a brighter note, she was also standing in the rain because little things often left her breathless, namely acts of nature. Her final reason was that she simply wanted to prolong entering Airdalen's auditorium for as long as possible. She had never been fond of academics, hell, the only reason she agreed to enter this school was it's variety of clubs and the extracurricular grants. Wealthy school meant better art supplies and that was all her father had to say to persuade her to behave herself. Was that a little too shallow of a reason to attend a prestigious school such as Airdalen?

Even if it was, it wasn't like she really cared if others found her shallow or not. Mao simply wished to be left to her hobbies without others pressuring her to perform how they believed she should. Standards of society and behavior set by old men in stuffy, bland offices did not concern Mao in the slightest. Thanks to the slick black coat which normally fit her slender frame rather generously, Mao wasn't even the slightest bit damp from her time watching the raindrops fall. However, the usually spacious coat was rather tight over her school uniform, only the large neon green hood fitting as she would have liked. It kept her face concealed from those around her, but more importantly, it kept Mao's makeup safely guarded against the antagonistic rain that would love nothing more than to make her eyeliner and mascara run. Not to mention the shade of green eyeshadow she always used was very temperamental and it did not apply to her dark skin very well. Although she would have liked to feel the beads of rain on her cheeks, Mao did not wish to battle with her eyeshadow twice so early in the day.

Hearing students chatter among themselves, her brown eyes shifted to the groups making their way inside. She trudged behind with her hands shoved in her pockets, not even looking up until she was inside. Mao removed her coat, hanging it up before looking for a seat amongst her peers. There was a tall blond male (Bishop) hugging an ebony haired girl with long hair and blue eyes (Devone). There was also a short ivory haired boy, whose physical aesthetics piqued her interest. She had never met someone so pale, especially with hair so white as well. However, despite her curiosity, the trio was much too rowdy for Mao's current grumpy and exhausted mood. Maybe another time.. She thought to herself, rubbing the back of her neck. She was quite irritated, seeing as she had not had the chance to grab her routine morning coffee. With her father's employees breathing down her neck she highly doubted that she would have been able to enjoy it anyhow. The lack of caffeine left her feeling antisocial, so she continued on her quest in search of a more peaceful place to sit. Thankfully she would not have to search long, because after standing so long she just wanted to sit back and relax for a little while.

As she continued on, Mao noticed that there was a tall male preoccupied with something, but what really caught her attention was that he was sitting mostly to himself. That was perfect, as she simply wished for a chance to unwind before the stresses of daily school life began to agitate her already coiled nerves. Before the opportunity passed her by, Mao approached quietly as to not disturb him from what he was doing and snagged the seat behind him. She couldn't really tell much about him from her angle other than he was very tall. Until spotting him, Mao had considered herself as really tall, seeing as she was only a Freshman and was five foot and six inches tall. Sitting behind him she felt incredibly small, but that was a very good thing. No one would be able to see that she wasn't paying any attention when the announcements began. Mao immediately pulled out her sketchpad and charcoal and began doodling. It was an image of her father and his rival politicians, the art style depicting them as overly goofy bobble heads. Although drawing her father like that in public was not good publicity for his campaign, it did wonders for blowing off steam. This blows... She thought to herself with a quiet yawn, concealing her mouth with her right hand, which was the only one that was not coated in charcoal from shading her drawing. She flipped the page, then began doodling nonsense characters, waiting for the day to officially begin.

"I'll have to excuse myself now, Tadashi-kun. Thank you for escorting me. Let's see each other later, okay? I'll look forward playing with you!" Tadashi smiled kindly at Cassiopeia and nodded. "Of course, thank you for recommending me. I'll see you soon Argyris-chan." Tadashi bowed his head slightly in a casual fashion of seeing her off before his company had departed. The girl was rather energetic and pleasant, although he did get the feeling that she was frail. That being said, it was only from the limited encounters they had together. He would find out as time went on. Before he would step off however a student aide would tap him on the shoulder and request that his presence be brought to the front office. He grew curious as to why he would be needed but didn't object in any way. Following the aide he gave a last glance to the crowd of students and then exited into the hallway.

"I see, yes I understand. Thank you for letting me know, I hope that Skylar settles well with her new arrangements." Tadashi was given a new junior partner to take care of now, given that there were certain circumstances regarding his former pupil Skylar. Looking at the folder he observed the picture of a girl named Mao Nozomi. She had an extra exotic look to her, given her dark skin but that wasn't necessarily 'new' in Japan. What he could tell however was that her looks were natural, unlike the girls that went tanning on purpose to appeal to a more 'western' look.. <What were they called? Gyaru's, right?>. He was familiar with girls like this at the clubs and venues he visited down town, not necessarily bad company but not company he would go with if he had a choice. They made good for a good concert crowd though. He stepped off and proceeded to the auditorium again to link back with his fellow student.

Entering the large open room, there were considerably more students this time with a large portion of them murmuring about something that had just unfolded. He managed to get the idea of what had happened by causally eavesdropping. "Did you see that!? He hugged Ursula?" The last thing that he saw was a woman with dark blue hair (Devone) stomping off from a distraught looking blonde boy (Bishop). The blonde (Bishop) stood frozen like a statue, he recognized the look on his face and felt a pang of guilt. Not so much pity, that's the last thing the boy (Bishop) needed. It was unfortunate, he knew exactly how harsh rejection could be. HE took for a young eager junior had decided to confess his feeling towards the older girl (Devone) and she had harshly let him down and publicly as well. He was far from the mark, but the misconception was understandable without knowing the true details. <All is fair in love and war... He'll recover from this. IT could be worse.> Again this was based off of only his assumptions. "Oh man! I thought she was going to kill him! "Yeah, but Ursula isn't the type to do it herself... She's got money. He'll disappear in a week, guarantee it." Now that was interesting.

Tadashi decided to pay less mind to the rumors and gossip but it would never fully drowned out given how fresh and juicy it all was to the school populace. In the mean time Tadashi would make an attempt to look for his junior Mao to hopefully introduce himself and talk to the girl before the assembly began. He didn't want to miss an opportunity like he did with his last partner, but searching for a head of black hair in Japan was like trying to find a rain drop in a puddle. It just wasn't going to happen. So he would look for skin complexion, a little bias in regards to race but he had to do what he must. It was for a good reason though and it wasn't like he'd do it all the time.... He hoped.

He waded through the aisle searching back and forth for his junior (Mao), sighing as he now had to resort to calling her out. He cleared his throat and took a breath ready to project his voice. "Nozomi, Mao? Nozomi, Mao?" He looked around as some students gave him strange looks. The reason being was, he wasn't using his natural voice. A talent Tadashi discovered some time ago was he could impersonate voices fairly well and even use his own unique ones. His music instructor mister Harumas had him study and practice spoken word in Japanese and English to develop this skill. With enough practice his instructor told him that he could get parts voice for commercials or television, even anime's and movies if he was recepted well enough. He called out again, for the second time exposing himself but in front of a much larger crowd- for sake of finding his junior. "Nozomi, Mao~ If you can hear me I'd like to have a word please?" He hoped to not come across as 'weird' being self conscious only because he was calling a girl's name out as if he was a teacher.

Glancing about him, now in the second aisle to the right he sighed getting a little frustrated at the whole situation. His approach was the opposite of Devone and Rocco, slowly walking past students heading towards the back of the room. His eyes would be changing from their even purple-red to a mostly red the further he got involved in his search. Although this was a detail easily missed unless you were watching his eyes.

"Nozomi, Mao? Nozomi, Mao?"

Great, I'm already in trouble and my first day of school hasn't even officially started yet. Dad will eat this up. Mao had to admit, when she first heard the voice, she figured it had been a teacher coming to scold her for drawing in the auditorium, or perhaps to give her some sort of paperwork, but she felt that she had no paperwork left, so being scolded definitely sounded more plausible. She let out a sigh and stood up, her brown eyes shifting around the room to find the owner of the voice. As tall as she was for a girl, five foot and six inches was not enough to see over the crowd of boys so she resorted to standing in her seat, "Oi, I'm Nozomi, Mao... You know, for whoever was calling my name.." She stated in a calm and somewhat halfhearted manner before jumping down. It was as if she didn't even consider that she could slip and fall, or that she just didn't care if she did. To those around her the answer was unclear, but Mao actually just didn't mind if she fell. The way she saw it was that every single cut, bruise, stumble, and fall was a lesson, and each lesson makes a person better. Mao really did not want to deal with teachers this early in the morning, but she knew how these things went. It couldn't be avoided in the long run, right? The longer she prolonged it, the worse it would be when the faculty DID find her.

"Nozomi, Mao~ If you can hear me I'd like to have a word please?"

In Mao's experience it was easier to stay put when unable to locate someone. It just wasn't logical for two strangers searching for one another to both wander around a large room in a crowd such as this. It was unlikely to find eachother under those circumstances. It seemed that whoever was looking for her was definitely persistent, as she heard her name again, and this time they made it clear that they wanted to speak with her. From the voice, it was clearly a male. She put her sketch pad back into her bag and slung it over her shoulder. It just so happened that this time the owner of the voice calling out to her sounded a bit closer, which meant her chances of finding him had dramatically increased. Despite her better judgement, Mao began to squeeze through the crowd. It wasn't long before she made it close to where she thought the voice had come from, but due to her haste and groggy start that morning, she tripped over a guy's foot and lost her balance. It wasn't exactly like her upperclassmen were parting the waters during her search... she had to practically shove her way through, it was no wonder that she fell.

If she did not think quickly, she would likely get someone else hurt as well, so with her right hand Mao reach out for the first thing that could keep her from making an impact with the floor. Oddly enough, her hand made contact with what felt like the sleeve of a male student's uniform (Tadashi). As she fell, Mao's face met directly with his chest, her fingers gripping both of his sleeves as her body gently collided with his, but also to make sure that she wouldn't end up taking him down as well. Thankfully Mao managed to stabalize herself and minimize the impact, preventing her and the boy (Tadashi) from collapsing into the floor in front of the entire school. Crisis avoided, I don't think I hurt him, but I definitely lost some self esteem on that one... How lame...

The last thing she wanted was to fall ontop of another unsuspecting student on her first day, "Uhm... Gomenasai. I didn't get enough sleep.." Mao's accent was definitely foreign, but not the usually American or European accents that most were accustomed to. She laughed casually, straightening her posture and looking up to the guy (Tadashi) that she had accidentally gotten up close and personal with. Her hands left his shoulders, giving him an apologetic smile. It was then that she noticed that both of his eyes were two completely different shades. Sure, she had seen people with one blue eye and one green eye, but never multiple colors in the same eye, at least not to that degree. She tilted her head curiously, "Do you happen to know who was looking for Nozomi, Mao? I'm new here and I really don't know who could have been..." She trailed off, looking around, completely unaware that the same boy that she had crashed into was the person who had been looking for her in the first place. This wasn't some cliche shoujo manga or anime, things like that did not happen in real life. Mao adjusted her bangs that fell over her left eye, her pixie cut black hair standing out a little bit among the longer haired females. The fact that she was so dark skinned did not help her blend in at all, but it wasn't like she wanted to, "Again, my bad. I didn't mean to invade your space like that. Some jerk had his foot sticking out of his lane. I am Nozomi, Mao, by the way." She adopted a more laidback and casual stance than most high school girls would be comfortable with around boys, but it wasn't like Mao was looking to impress anyone, male or otherwise. She held out her hand for a handshake, figuring it was the least she could do after pretty much ramming into him. If she didn't at least strike up a conversation she was afraid she would be pegged as some kind of handsy pervert. While she did not care about what people saw her as, she did not want to be deemed as some kind of sexual deviant. Though she had to admit, she was glad that the boy she ran into was such a looker. Running into him had not been exactly a bad thing, now that she got a good look at him.

Ughhh... Yuuki rubbed her eyes, lethargically shuffling towards the auditorium. After the dance, she had spent quite a bit of time studying to make up for lost time, and now she was running on mere fumes. She wasn't even entirely sure how she had gotten here. She had dozed off on the bus and she did not even recall leaving her apartment. Did I even eat breakfast today? I don't remember.. I hope I locked the door... She thought to herself with a knot of nervousness in her stomach. The last thing she needed was to be robbed or to have some creep waiting on her. Living alone was quite dangerous now that she thought about it, but it wasn't like she could change her situation...

With only three hours of sleep under her belt, Yuuki was facing a long day, a long miserable day. She couldn't waste her time and energy worrying about herself. She came to the conclusion that she would just have to be extra careful upon going home from now on, or perhaps take up some kind of self-defense class? It sounded silly, considering her poor coordination and lanky build, but it would at least give her peace of mind. That would help her focus better on her studies right? Tsk... I'm rationalizing my fears... I hate life... Someone kill me and just end this suffering already... She thought to herself bitterly as she went on, her dark purple raincoat taking the raindrops as went. Her golden eyes stared at her coffee cup, it was a cheap little container, so she had to hurry up and drink it or else lose it to the sogginess brought on by the rain. Her choppy violet bob cut was a bit disheveled but all that mattered to Yuuki was making it to school on time. She didn't care if her hair was wild and untamed. She had no intention of impressing anyone.

A long sip of coffee from the cup in her hand in attempts to jumpstart herself made Yuuki shiver, the stark contrast between the rain and the warm contents in her cup giving her goosebumps. She pulled the door open and removed her hood, stepping inside. A sigh escaped her lips realizing that she was not late. She put her coat on the coat rack and went to sit down. She chose a seat or two down the same row from a tall ebony haired student (Ryou), one she vaguely remembered from the school dance, but also from the day before sitting with Johnny. He seemed to be reading a book, reminding Yuuki that she could not afford to waste an ounce of time either. She had lost quite a bit of study time by going to the dance with Sora. Her parents had been more than thrilled to see the pictures, but that had been just about the only good thing to come out of it.. I hope Mom and Dad are happy, now I am so behind... I have hours to make up... as if my days did not begin early enough before....

Once Yuuki settled into her seat, she unzipped her plain school bag and rummaged through for her pencil case, then pulled out her cram school packet as well. She began flipping through pages that she had finished, adjusting her glasses on the bridge of her nose after she found a page that she had not completed. She let out a soft sigh, then engrossed herself in the packets contents. As her eyes scanned through the paragraphs about the U.S. presidents, Yuuki began tapping the heel of her foot against the floor, "Which American president was the only president to be unanimously elected?" Yuuki mumbled to herself as she read over the review questions. She tapped the pencil in her hand against her cheek as she ran the words she had read through her head. After tapping the pencil three times against her skin the answer came to her and a small smile crossed Yuuki's lips but was gone faster than it came. While writing her answer Yuuki spoke it as well, a bad habit of hers that she was not really aware of since she spent a majority of her time alone, "George Washington..." She whispered to herself as she scribbled the name onto the page.

It was rather hard to concentrate on the work before her, but Yuuki managed to finish the page, flipping to the next one and systematically starting her process all over. Unlike most students in the hall, she did not look for those she had met the days before, nor did she seek conversation. In fact, she was doing her absolute best to NOT think about the people she had met at Airdalen thus far. Her golden eyes shifted to look up at the front of the auditorium every few minutes, just to make sure that she would not miss the announcement. She figured that if their first two classes had been canceled that it would have to be very important. Are we EVER going to have actual classes? Yuuki thought to herself a bit skeptical of this rich kid school. She honestly was starting to suspect that all Airdalen did was spend their valuable time goofing off instead of working on actual lessons. Seeing as it was a school of rich kids couldn't they just buy their reputation and grades? Of course, Yuuki wasn't certain if that was possible as she was quite poor, but it was a theory she was beginning to consider.

"Oi, I'm Nozomi, Mao... You know, for whoever was calling my name.."

What was with people coming to this school to disrespect the equipment and just holler around? The first day it was the blond kid named Bishop playing music and now this? Losing her patience Yuuki decided to say something, "Oi, would mind shutting up? Some of us are trying to read." Yuuki snapped in a harsh tone without looking up from her booklet. She let out a huff of annoyance before shaking her head. She couldn't stand the spoiled rich kids. They seemed to think that they could do whatever they wanted without consequence. It was really beginning to piss her off.

If that wasn't bad enough, a very energetic girl sitting beside of her tapped her shoulder, and Yuuki looked up from her book with a blank stare, obviously not amused by the fact that she was interrupted. The girl seemed unphased, apparently, one of the ones who knew nothing of the rumors of her being some sort of robot, "Fujioka-san, why aren't you sitting with Harigae-Senpai? He was your date to the dance after all..." The girl giggled, though Yuuki knew the look in her eyes. She had seen it several times. This girl was not interested in Yuuki's answer at all, in fact, all she wanted to gauge if Yuuki was interested in Sora. Yuuki tilted her head to the side a bit. She wasn't sure if she should humiliate the girl or ignore her, but she figured that the annoying wretch wouldn't give up without an answer, "I'm not interested in looking for him, he's not my boyfriend. Now, can you not see that I am studying? Leave me alone, barbie." Yuuki stated in a cold tone, referring to the girl's shallow interests. She was tired of seeing girls that only seemed to care about romance and money, not even attempting to better themselves as people.

I hate you... I hate everyone like you, why can't you see that? She thought to herself, though now that her thoughts were on Sora, she felt a blush creep onto her cheeks and reading the words on the page was taking longer than before. She found herself rereading the same passages over and over, not comprehending the words even moments after finishing the passage. She wasn't retaining anything at all. Damn you... Get out of my head. I'm such an idiot.. A boy would never try to kiss a girl like me.. I should be working, why can't I stop thinking about this..? She thought to herself, mentally beating herself up for breaking focus. She couldn't let that girl feel like she had affected her.. so why was she unable to stop thinking about how she was almost certain that Sora was going to kiss her at the dance? Yuuki took a handful of her hair, just above her ear and gave it a rough tug. Friends... boys... it's all trouble Yuuki... You know that. Why am I doing this..? I know, I'll just avoid him. Then it will be a distant memory and I'll forget all about it in no time. Yuuki nodded to herself, determined to cure herself before this became a huge wedge in her plan. She couldn't afford to be distracted from her education.

Over the hustle and bustle of the students around him, it was hard to make out specific voice. Especially a voice he had never heard of before, it was like finding a needle in a haystack. His eyes peered back and forth scanning further until he felt a body collide with his. Two hands gripped at his shirt sleeve while someone's face pushed into his. Eye flashed full red, caught off guard by the incident taking one step back to stabilize himself, otherwise his hands were anchored down due to the momentum and weight of the person (Mao) falling into him. Looking down he found a head of black hair resting against him, finding that it was a girl. He amused the notion that just a few short years ago her would only imagine this happening in a manga he read. "Uhm... Gomenasai. I didn't get enough sleep.." Tadashi smiled, seeing that the girl (Mao) was alright and straightened himself up as well fixing his sleeves. "It's perfectly alright, I don't think many of us here got very much sleep." On that thought, he did wonder why the school would host a late night dance in the middle of a school week. Airdalen certainly was unique.

"Do you happen to know who was looking for Nozomi, Mao? I'm new here and I really don't know who could have been..." Her (Mao's) question was processed and answered instantaneously in his mind, now that he finally had a good look at the girl that was talking to him (Mao), it was discovered that she was his senior. "Again, my bad. I didn't mean to invade your space like that. Some jerk had his foot sticking out of his lane. I am Nozomi, Mao, by the way." Tadashi smiled down to his junior (Mao) in a forgiving fashion, before he raised his hands to wave them in a fashion that displayed with body language that it was nothing. Tadashi distinctly noted a very unique accent that he had never heard ofbefore, given her appearance that would add to her 'appeal' among the school populace. However, he didn't mention anything about it treating her with the same respect he would treat his friends."Don't worry about it Nozomi-san, as fate would have it- it was me that was calling your name." With an increasing smile, Tadashi held up the folder that showed a picture of Mao paper-clipped to the front of it. "Kiomine, Tadashi. He bowed politely wanting to make a good first impression. "Airdalen has a system where juniors and seniors partner up together to help each other out. I was just assigned as your senior partner and will be helping you for the duration of the school year." He spoke with a calm enthusiasm doing his best to project himself as a competent steward who would be guiding her through. As he spoke, Tadshi took more of her (Mao) in assessing the girl. She definitely looked the athletic type, whether she was 'wealthy' or 'scholarly skilled' was yet t be determined. But given her appearance, first impression suggested a fitness scholarship- he could tell she was in good shape. All this thinking was done in milliseconds, fortunately for him he couldn't come across as a creep checking her out.

"Good morning students, faculty, everybody! Please be seated as we start the assembly." Tadashi's ears perked hearing the delicate voice of one of the teachers. He glanced back to the stage then turned back to Mao, eyes an even purple-red again. Had she noticed them change during the conversation? "That's Mrs. Kita, lets go take a seat and I'll fill you in." If she allowed, Tadashi would escort her to a seat moving directly behind Shiori allowing Mao to sit on whichever side of him he liked. "Inside this folder are the class schedules, maps and clubs and activities that happen here." He paused to hand over a folder that showed the school's logo on the front that the had extracted from his manila envelope. "If you have any questions or-" "SIT DOWN AND PAY ATTENTION WHEN WE'RE SPEAKING TO YOU!" Tadashi visibly twitched as Mr. Hayashi screeched into the microphone, eyes splashing more red from the disturbance. With a sigh, he regained his composure closing his eyes only to open them again looking at Mao with that even purple-red again. "If you need anything, let me know. Sorry for the quick introduction, we can talk more during or after the assembly."

Tadashi's eyes remained on his new partner Maofor a moment to see if she had anything to say or ask, before turning completely forward in his chair and settled in his seat. He listened to the class and club presidents, not recognizing a good number of the names. One name in particular he had signed up for was lead by his good friend Gen. He smiled thinking about her (Gen), finding it interesting that he had no idea she was even in the running for class president seeing as he wasn't given a chance to vote. <Oh well, one of those things.> What certainly did surprise him was Sora being announced as the male class president. Instantly his mind went back to the times when they were both younger, Sora was more a bully that just talked down to him compared to Kazuki who was a physical bully. Without making a move he shook the thoughts from his head only to spy Shiori was sitting in front of him. "Hmm." He thought silently about the girl (Shiori) realizing that the two hadn't spoken yet, he would like to change that. Especially given that she was now the class president. He smiled softly wanting to congratulate her. But Mao was his priority for the rest of the day, it wasn't like him to ditch somebody in favor of another's company.

He glanced to his side again to spy Mao one more time with his unique eyes as the assembly continued.

Johnny “Jay” Farelli

Having not played the instrument often since arriving in Japan, it didn’t take long for him to start botching notes. Though he did a fine job, Johnny knew it was an indicator that he was falling out of practice. Fortunately, with the ukulele stored at school now, he can put some time to playing during times like lunch, or during band club.

One of these days, he mentally noted, I’ll have a full-blown guitar, and it’ll be sicker than Avery’s dad’s treasure. I’ll be a goddamn rock star. The foreigner slipped the ukulele back into it’s bag as soon as someone walked onto the stage. Was it time to find out what was happening here? The rather ‘obvious’ woman who walked on stage almost seemed to whisper into the microphone. Johnny couldn’t tell what the heck she was saying, even if the louder students around weren’t there.

Yo hol’up… colour drained from Johnny’s face as his peripheral vision caught the colour of darker skin. No… Oh shit! the quack was right after all! It can’t be manifesting like this, can it? His relief was immense when he turned his head and registered that the dark-skinned girl’s resemblance was the colour and nothing more. Oh thank fuck! His heart rate had spiked to uncomfortable levels, but was now lowering once more. His face still looked like he had just seen a ghost. He was perfectly vulnerable to the sudden blast of feedback courtesy of the more boisterous teacher who had taken over. The foreigner cringed in pain as the ringing slowly began to fade. He ended up missing the first part of the whispering teacher’s speech entirely.

“When I… name… please join me on… receive… and deliver a speech so we can learn more about you and your plans or… it is you would.” I know I got good hearing all things considered but god-dayum. Johnny didn’t catch all of it, but he managed to determine that this was some sort of anointing ceremony… maybe “anoint” wasn’t a proper term to use. There was no oil jugs to be seen on the stage. Then again, Japan’s very much about tradition and honor and all that jazz, if all those old kung fu movies were to be believed. Maybe there was religious connotations behind everything…? Johnny snapped out of the train of thought when the teacher continued.

“Starting with club presidents!” Johnny understood that one loud and clear. Of course! Class and club presidents, that’s something familiar! Johnny rose slightly in his seat, interested in what the teacher had to say. That meant more names to learn, more people to meet, more friends to make. The foreigner relished that.

Upon Fujioka’s announced name, Johnny whooped very much like a Westerner. Cheering for others just came naturally to the sports-minded kid. A small part of him made the boisterous celebration because he realised he had been pronouncing the name right after all.

On the second name, Johnny once more cheered, though he didn’t quite remember who exactly Belrose was. Belrose, that’s… that’s the guy with the cool hair! … What’s ‘Kyudo’?”

Upon his senpai’s name, the foreigner called “Ryou-senpai!” Johnny whooped once more. His senpai was the captain of the Basketball Team; hardly a surprise. The dude was the only kid Johnny had seen who was taller.

The next announced name was for… something called “up” and “stream”. The foreigner recalled the name from when he signed up for clubs. Upstream, that’s the swimming team, eh? Johnny rose a fist to bump with Rhys. He determined pretty easily that the boy who sat next to him was Rhys, as he was the one who would’ve risen upon the announcement. “I’m feeling good vibes about this team,” Johnny said through that wonderful smile of his.

It was then Gen’s turn to take the stage, as an… “Inryoku”? The foreigner had never heard that term before. OH! that must be the drama club! That thing that I decided against joining. Aw, I’m flaking on my friend there. Shit… Well, maybe if they need some heavy lifting, I could put some time towards it or somethin’… “Gen-san! Whoo! knock ‘em dead slugger!” He cheered, completely unaware of what Inryoku actually is.

As a matter of fact, it was pretty much a given that Johnny’s deep voice emitted a warming, if potentially unwarranted whoop for every name that was called. It really depended on the patience of every individual whether it was obnoxious or not. At the end of the announcement, the foreigner wound up cheering to every announced name with equal, or only slightly varying fervor. Once all the names were announced and everyone mentioned got on stage, the foreigner leaned back in his chair, respectfully quiet. Besides the cheering from before, one would be hard-pressed to think he was a loud American.

"Don't worry about it Nozomi-san, as fate would have it- it was me that was calling your name."

"Really? What are the odds of that?" She asked aloud in a relaxed and somewhat amused manner, brief laughter escaping her lips. Instead of finding it creepy, it mostly reminded Mao of anime. This must have been the moments that anime and manga illustrators drew their inspiration from. However, curiosity immediately engulfed Mao's expression. Why was a random senior searching for her in the crowd? This was, in fact, her first actual day of school. There was no way that this guy knew her already, she was at least ninety percent sure of it.

Surprise washed over Mao's facial features and she immediately began thinking up a defense. She wasn't sure what the folder was for, but considering her reputation with other school systems she was concerned. Was this meant to be her babysitter? Was he assigned to make sure that she didn't find her way into loads of trouble as she had in her previous schools time and time again? Whatever the reason, seeing her picture plastered on a folder made her feel like a target of the CIA, "I'm just gonna make it clear that I have no idea what that's about...." Mao admitted awkwardly, speaking her mind instead of playing games. Mao was used to being honest, so when others called her rude or brazen she did not understand how those qualities were considered a bad thing. Honesty was common courtesy, was it not? Hell, it had to be better than lying like her father. She wanted to be the absolute opposite of him. Politicians made her sick, lies made her sick. Telling lies made her feel physically ill.

"Kiomine, Tadashi."

Blink. Blink. Mao was accustomed to bowing, but considering the situation, as he was her Senpai, it made everything a bit strange. Wasn't she supposed to bow first? She wasn't entirely sure, but she immediately bowed in response to avoid coming across as mannerless. Her short ebony hair barely moved, but her slanted bangs fell to conceal her right eye in the process, even when she stood back up properly. While she did not care about stereotypes, basic etiquette was something that Mao did respect. Without manners or niceties society would surely crumble.

"Airdalen has a system where juniors and seniors partner up together to help each other out. I was just assigned as your senior partner and will be helping you for the duration of the school year."

Well, that definitely explained a lot, and brought a ton of relief to the secretive graffiti artist. However, considering the program would last the entire year, she realized she would be seeing a lot more of the boy standing before her. Jeez... What a pain, now I have to make sure to maintain a healthy and stable relationship with this guy. If he dislikes me it will only be troublesome for me later on... While the senior did not gawk, Mao did notice he was taking stock. Since he choose to look her over, she briefly did the same. Given his attractive but edgy appearance, Tadashi did not come across as entirely strait laced, but only time would tell. While her eyes were not as time efficient as Tadashi's, Mao did not scan him longer than a few seconds.

"Good morning students, faculty, everybody! Please be seated as we start the assembly."

There was a blonde teacher, arguably as rare in Japan as her own exotic shade of skin, Mao knew how that could complicate everything. It did the blonde teacher no service that her tone while addressing the students was all wrong, and it made Mao snicker, but she hid it behind her hand to shield her disrespect. The teacher did not give her any reason to comply, so why would anyone else? Bluntly stating, the blonde teacher was... Ineffective. Teddy Bears and newborn kittens were more intimidating than her.

Realizing that her attention could be spent focusing on the boy with her photo on a folder, Mao's gold eyes shifted to meet his gaze and for the first time since she met her senior partner Mao finally noticed that his eyes were changing color. Her eyes narrowed a bit, making sure that her sleepy mind was not deceiving her, but low and behold it was reality. However, despite her curiosity, all of the questions she received about her skin tone and nationality was motivation enough to cause Mao to not even consider bringing Tadashi's unique eyes up. If she knew nothing else, Mao knew how annoying tedious questions could be. She spent years insecure in her own skin amongst the pale skinned majority of Japan, she did not wish to risk making another uncomfortable or insecure to satiate her curious mind.

"That's Mrs. Kita, let's go take a seat and I'll fill you in."

The irony couldn't have been more perfect, Mrs. Kita? It even sounds like Kitten... I wonder what Mrs. Kitty is trying to say anyway..? Mao smirked a bit, gazing at Tadashi, then Mrs. Kita and back to Tadashi before shaking her head. The blonde pushover teacher's name, it was one she would file away for future use for sure, but she did prefer her new nickname for the wimpy woman. It was always fun to know which teachers she would be able to take advantage of. Apparently she would definitely be able to slack off and work on her sketches, in that class at the very least. As far as Mao was concerned, she was here solely to participate in club activities. Mao followed behind Tadashi, squeezing through the crowd unapologetically. While she wasn't out of her way to be a problem for those around her, she did not see a reason to apologize whenever she weaseled her way to their seats. The students should have been seated by then anyway, it was their fault if she bulldozed through them, at least that's how she rationalized it. Mao sat on the outer edge of the row that Tadashi chose, so she wouldn't have to squeeze past him and risk potentially groping him once again.

"Inside this folder is the class schedules, maps and clubs and activities that happen here. If you have any questions or-"

Mao examined the outside of the folder with a blank expression, flipping through it as he spoke. The maps, schedules, and club activities were of more interest to her than anything else. Though the distraction of the papers in front of her made her susceptible to the shout from the male teacher growing irate.

"SIT DOWN AND PAY ATTENTION WHEN WE'RE SPEAKING TO YOU!"

Mao noticed that the shade of red was more prevalent in her senior's eyes, wondering if it had anything to do with his reaction to the shouting. Mao found that she already hated the red-haired man, far more than a student should hate their teacher. He screamed like a small child not getting their way, so she found that she respected him far less than even the blonde teacher. Everyone look at Mr. Superiority Complex over there, everything he has to say is SO much more important. Mao rolled her eyes, glaring to the front until the teacher left the stage.

"If you need anything, let me know. Sorry for the quick introduction, we can talk more during or after the assembly."

It did not take Mao very long to notice that Tadashi's eyes had returned to a state of equilibrium, but once again pretended that she had not for the sake of sensitivity, "Sure." She responded back with a shrug of her shoulders, not really concerned about such matters. She'd get to know him eventually, she was in no rush to do so. She did not know her senior partner, therefore she did not know if he had insecurities about his unusual eyes. Mao folded her arms behind her head and leaned back in her chair. While she was easily considered to be sitting very casually for a female, it wasn't like she had a lot of breasts, and she wasn't intimidated if she accidentally revealed a bit of leg, so long as no one sitting around her attempted to touch.
"So today is a special day for all students where we announce the student presidencies! These students have been voted by their peers to be model examples for the rest of the school and lead their respective classes and clubs. It is such an honor!"

The sheer amount of school spirit that the blonde teacher Mao non-affectionately coined 'Mrs. Kitty' made the dark-skinned girl's gag reflex act up. Someone kill me. Mao thought to herself in disgust. She had never seen someone so peppy in her entire life and it was making her physically ill just to witness it. Does this woman seriously believe the shit she spouts?

"When I announce your name, please join me on stage to receive your presidency badges and deliver a speech so we can learn more about you and your plans or whatever it is you would like to share! It is your moment to stand in the spotlight.
Starting with club presidents!"

I'm so excited....Can anyone see how excited I am? Mao thought to herself bitterly, half tempted to stand up and walk out. She really didn't care who the class presidents or club presidents were for that matter. Ten years from now, none of that tedious crap would even matter. She never understood why schools spent so much time on trivial matters like this. It was a waste of life! It was practically criminal to force kids to endure this whenever they wished to plop titles in other kid's laps...

"Oh my! Some of our chosen class presidents are already on stage so to save time I will also announce this right away and you can make one whole speech instead of two. How wonderful!"

Mao once again really didn't care, because it wasn't like she would be able to recognize those names anyhow! She only knew the person sitting next to her Kiomine, Tadashi, and he was barely an acquaintance. She glanced up with disinterest towards each and every one of the speeches, trying to at least remember last names and faces of the club and class presidents. It would do good to avoid the class presidents when possible. They were normally little more than snitching brown nosers anyhow.

“He’s so cool, glare at us more!” Johnny had no idea what the many girls were cheering for. Riou-san was a cool dude, but he didn’t really see what made girls so… oddly lustful. They reacted like the Beatles fangirls in their prime. Ryou didn’t strike Johnny as John Lennon or anything. If anything Ryou only had larger muscles, and was technically overweight. If it was an issue of muscle, The foreigner had a far more defined physique, not unlike Bruce Lee. He didn’t imagine the girls were swooning at the curves of biceps and strong jawlines.

The annoyance Ryou clearly displayed reminded the foreigner of Roger Waters, when he spat at fans trying to climb the net shortly before he came up with The Wall. The Wall… Hmm… Perhaps there was something bothering the foreigner’s senpai? Johnny hadn’t considered that before. He made a mental note to ask about it at an appropriate time.

I’m feeling excellent about this team, Johnny noted to himself regardless. Just like the swimming team, the basketball team is led by a righteous dude. The foreigner knew he’d be a valued asset, but he won’t be relied on. That’s only what a boy as strong and fast as Johnny could ask for in terms of challenge. Being the positive thinker like he wanted himself to be, Johnny did not hold the annoyed attitude of his senpai against him. After all, like a lot of the Japanese language, there’s definitely something the foreigner was missing.

A lot of Fujioka’s and Belrose’s speech was lost on the foreginer, for they used a lot of bigger words than was normally required for an everyday conversation. It was clear they were both intellectuals, and in the case of the silver-haired dude, an elite. Johnny wondered if they knew English fluently. In this day and age, English and Mandarin would be required languages to function in the high-end global markets. Fujioka seemed like one who would be striving for a global market. Belrose probably is part of a global market already.

Gen’s an elite, isn’t she? At least, she carried herself like one. Johnny’s eyes rested on Gen’s for a moment, and he gave a thumbs-up. He had no idea what ‘Inryuko’ was, but the foreigner knew a cool cat like Gen would do very well if she was president. Of course, he had no actual knowledge of her credentials. Being the dumbass he is, he always trusted that “gut feeling”. Maybe if he had the time, he’d go to find out what ‘Inryuko’ was. He imagined it was something like a chess club, or sewing club. Considering how well-dressed she usually was, maybe it was the latter?

Being an American, he reacted as respectfully as any American would when a girl like Tsukiko flaunted what Avery called “the goods”. With a sharp whistle he produced when he put two fingers to his mouth. For a moment, he legitimately forgot he was in a different country with a different culture. Soon enough, he caught himself. Fuck! Too late, though… dumbass… There had to be a reason for his sudden American antics. This isn’t his old home… but something triggered memories of home.

That dark-skinned girl. His flash of seeing a ghost, hanging with his friends, skateboarding, B-balling, B-boying, everything he and the other guys did on account of the ghetto having no computers. Well, there were the ones in the library, and Avery eventually got his own courtesy of his music shop parents having a good few months… but… I gotta leave it behind, he thought as his eyes glazed into that thousand-yard stare.

It was a full thirty seconds before he realized the state he was in. He shook his head and returned his attention to the assembly. Unfortunately, he had missed what he thought was Tsukiko’s speech entirely. Some friend I am… I’ll have to talk with her later, he vowed to himself. He did notice something… off… as she left the stage very unlike her usual exits from old youtube videos. Maybe it’s part of her cover? She is a bit of a secret pop star… I think… Man that’s just a reasoned assumption all things considered…

His mind focused on Tsukiko because his concern for others was all he had to get rid of the thousand-yard stare. Living in the ghetto taught him that the world was cruel. Being the top athlete in school taught him he needed to be an idol, something others aspire to be like. Airdalen would be the school where the foreigner learned to become the best of the best. The students around him will see him shine yet. That performance at the clubs was only the beginning.

Now properly hyped, he was just in time to cheer on the blue-haired boy who had been punched-up just yesterday. His cheering was interrupted by jeering from other male students down by the front row. “Hey come on, let the dude spit,” Johnny’s deep voice pierced the jeering and booing. Where he’s from, “Spit” meant “speak”, or rather, “rap”, in the context of a rap battle. He huffed as he remembered he was supposed to be speaking Japanese. “Let the man speak,” he corrected himself in the technically native language. Those who did turn around, who were not already silenced by the teachers, would see the tall, muscular foreigner giving a stern, yet kind look. Every one who got a look at the gleaming, piercing emerald eyes immediately turned back and kept relative silence. They then whispered things to each other the foreigner couldn’t catch. “Holy shit that gaijin looks scary up close,” was basically what they did. “You hear his sloppy language? Fuckin’ roided out, I bet. How’d a dumbass like him get into this school? It’s a disgrace… Defending that guy though... you don’t think he’s gay?”

Sora’s speech in general was blunt… and oddly focused on himself more than the goals of the club. Considering the response of the ruder students, perhaps there was a reason for it? Was it stage fright, or was that nasty hit from yesterday beginning to take the long-term toll? The foreigner eyed Sora closely, watching for any tell-tale signs of some sports health problem. Shivering hands, or slight spasms. None of the sort happened, at least, not from Johnny’s perspective.

Good vibes, Johnny, good vibes, he relaxed a little in his seat as Sora left abruptly without signs of lightheadedness. Tsukiko was then the next one up. Oh! I didn’t miss her speech then! he thought, but wait… whose speech did I miss? Johnny whooped when Tsukiko finished her speech, and pumped a fist in the air. “Yeah! Music Club get hype!” Evidently, he did not know the proper Japanese term for “hype”, so he wound up whooping that in English. His doofy, yet genuine grin would hopefully translate the gist of what he was saying. He did not catch on the innuendo.

The other students, however, couldn’t possibly know that. “Get a load of this jackass,” the students down in front whispered in regards to the foreigner, if only for a second, so they could return to enjoying the view of the very attractive pink-haired girl.

I get the feeling those dudes aren’t friendly…

Next up was the dude who took one for the team yesterday. He seemed really chipper all things considered. The speech was short and concise, the best-case scenario for someone who at-first seemed to be suffering from a little stage fright. Johnny caught the lip-biting. How could he not? Still, a Junior class president, that would be a lot of responsibility, maybe too much for the foreigner, given all the stuff he has to go through. Also, Akira being announced as the Male junior class president made the foreigner confident that his betting money was already hard-won. If only he had voiced the bet to others. He’d probably have… like… twelve hundred yen or something… That’s like, four sodas… or a six-pack in the sales section.

Next up was Tsukiko’s... cousin? Family member in general, that much Johnny knew. Something was wrong… Last time Johnny had seen her was in a well-made witch costume. Last time Johnny saw her, there was no odd markings on her cheeks. Johnny’s eyes widened as he recognized the markings. Fingers… pinching tight, with a vice-like grip. Whatever caused that very likely had an effect on the poor girl’s speech. It was concise… but also sharp as a razor, mechanical and cold. “Who…” he wondered as he could make out the bruises he imagined not many would recognize, as he saw her eyes almost… retreat. Another bully in this school? Not in this school… Not in this place that accepted me. I’ll… I’ll… No… no she wouldn’t want that. Kitogawa-san probably told the teachers. They probably figured it all out out. Calm down. This isn’t America… but still…

“It’s starting to feel like America,” he hummed low. His thoughts were vanquished when Gen-san stepped up to the plate with her own speech as the president of the thing called “Inryoku”. Her speech was crisp, well-worded, and formal… and that meant the foreigner couldn’t register all of it. However, compared to the last few speeches, Johnny knew it was incredibly competent. He pumped a fist into the air with a cheer. As Gen returned to her own seat, Johnny leaned a little to speak, “Great speech, Gen-san!” he smiled. It didn’t matter that he didn’t understand all of it.

It was then that the ditzy teacher returned to the microphone. Johnny still had no idea what she taught, or even if she had the capacity to maintain the focus to teach. However, the announcement was made, two names were mentioned, and a well-learned word “Lunch” was mentioned. Johnny slung the ukulele over his shoulder, over top of his backpack, and turned to the ones who were with Gen. “Hello,” he greeted as he repeated the same Japanese phrase he always used to introduce himself. “My name is Johnny Farelli, but you can call me Jay.”

Upon her first repose, Tadashi quirked a brow in curiosity. She seemed the guilty type, automatically jumping to a conclusion of accusation before he was able to finish his statement which was- interesting. He felt that this girl had more to her than she let on, it was surprising how much you could tell from a person by what they say and do. Even the seemingly minor and insignificant thigns could be major tells, and Mao had exposed herself to a great degree, at least in Tadashi's standing. He didn't say a word though and let on to explain the junior-senior program. He would also note her very unique accent of Japanese which made his ears perk even more and pay attention to what he was saying. It was fortunate for a good many people that the didn't have a similar ill-will or intent such as Devone. Tadashi's eyes and perceptive mind were trying to get past.

Soon enough they were seated together in the crowd as the announcements began, each and every class leader went before the school and gave a speech. Some were marvelously delightful, a few others were acceptable and then there were the speeches he wished he would have skipped out on. But that was as far as his judgement went however, still holding a good deal of respect for each individual leader. Regardless of if they were selected based on prowess or simply popularity, they were chosen for a reason and that did mean something. It might not be ultimately important in the long run, but on a personal and social level people could look back and remember the character of classmates they worked along side with in class or in clubs. He did have to admire the speeches from Arietta the date from the school dance, as well as his close friend Gen and even the music club president Tsukiko. They were very lively and a pure joy to watch.

Tadashi looked down to Mao seeing an expression of utter enjoyment... If the expression was that of a drying fish on a hot day. He let out a very subtle sigh, assessing his junior further. <I see.... She's more of a loner type. Not very much into the pageantry of school and clubs.> Tadashi was adjusting his demeanor and approach to his junior so that the two could have the best possible relation. Whether it was formal or casual depended on how things unfolded, but from what he noticed- once the thicker ice was broken the two would get along fine. The calm natural smile to his lips held the secondary confidence that the two would get along just fine.

"Oh alrighty! I almost forgot to announce our Halloween best-dressed winners Argyris Cassiopeia and Miyamoto Kazuki! As a reward, you two will be dining for free at any restaurant of your choice for lunch today! Yay~! Everyone else also please enjoy your break and dismissed!"

His eyes flashed for a moment at the mention of Kazuki and Cassiopeia being on an official date made by the school. The notion was sweet on the part of Airdalen, but a small part of him was concerned. Digging deeper into his thoughts, he figured it was likely a cause of his own insecurities and feelings of the past that caused him to feel this way. He closed his eyes for a moment longer than a standard blink, only to open them back up again with the color equivalency completely different now; the whole matter being done within a few short seconds. He turned to Mao with that soft smile as everyone began to get up and leave. "Nozomi-San, would you like to share lunch together?" After he spoke, his eyes projected the type of answer he wanted. An honest one, he was very open to people's honesty and didn't want her to feel pressured into staying with him. Smothering was not the way to build a relationship.

For the moment, he would await on her reply being friendly and light actively wanting to liven up the school experience for Mao. He already had a rough idea that she wouldn't be the type to really care for schooling as much as some other students. Which honestly he could totally relate, his grades were acceptable at best but it wasn't for his lack of trying. Education was valuable he knew it, Tadashi just knew the path he wanted to take didn't necessarily require a standard tradition.

Mao glanced to Tadashi out of the corner of her eye after he sighed. It was quiet, a sound she almost missed if not for her complete disinterest in the announcements. The only bright side to the speeches was the fact that Mao was able to learn a few names, most notably the pale ivory haired boy's. She was intrigued by him. She never knew someone could have had white hair at such a young age and be that pale! She wanted to get to know him better if only to one day ask him why he was born with no pigment in his hair. Was it medical or a simple fluke?

Mao never once attempted to correct her poor posture, even after she became aware that her senior was occasionally glancing her way. Mao continued sitting low in her seat with both of her arms behind her head as cushions. Her tanned long legs were stretched out and crossed at the ankle under the seat of a student in front of her. She was incredibly bored by the announcement, but Mao was comfortable at least. She wasn't bothered that her position hiked her skirt up an extra inch, she didn't really care if guys stared. She wasn't a prude. Her mother was an actress, she was raised to appreciate the skin she was in, and over time Mao actually did become more comfortable than most teenage girls, well, for a girl that had zero experience in romance. Due to her sheltered upbringing, Mao was convinced that no one would try to touch her indecently. She was the daughter of a politician after all, sexually assaulting her wasn't a wise choice for anyone.. However, most of Airdalen was filled insanely rich teens, something Mao neglected to take into account. For the most part no one actually gawked at her anyway, they were too busy listening to the speeches. Mao was a new kid, a nobody. She wasn't interesting enough yet to earn any type of popularity. She was off the radar, which was exactly how she wanted to stay.

It became clear to Mao after a moment that her senior partner seemed to be smiling at her, something she had not anticipated so she quickly returned her attention to the stage, pretending she had not noticed at all. She had only been looking through her peripheral vision anyhow... Who does he think he's smiling at...? Why is he even smiling at me in the first place..? Curiosity was getting the best of her, but she did her best to keep a disinterested expression upon her face. Unfortunately for Mao, her facial features just morphed into a childish pout the more she attempted to keep a straight face. Mao did her best to pretend to be paying attention to the speeches, but due to her relaxed sitting position, it was painfully obvious she could barely even see the stage. She only saw each of the class presidents and club presidents when they went up to the stage. Once they were up, she couldn't see over the head of the person sitting in front of her. Sure, if she sat up it would have fixed that little issue, but that was far too much effort for something as lame as an assembly.

The bell was a very welcomed noise. She completely overlooked the blonde teacher's final words and stretched her arms out, considerate enough to avoid accidentally punching Tadashi by accident. When she sat up straight she noticed that her senior's eyes were closed, but it was only a little longer than normal so she brushed it off. Perhaps I was reading into it too much...? Not that I really know what Mrs. Kitty said anyhow.. Something about winners and a date maybe...? Mao did hear the word lunch however, more than happy to finally eat. Caffeine was screaming her name! If she ever wished to remedy her terrible mood, she definitely needed the extra boost. Caffeine was her life line after all, without it, she'd unravel within a few weeks. The room being cleared caught her attention, wondering where everyone usually chose to eat. If it wasn't so rainy she would have opted to eat under that tree she had become rather fond of, but alas she did not enjoy wet clothing so it wasn't an option, at least not that day. There would certainly be other lunches to be had there.

"Nozomi-San, would you like to share lunch together?"

"Here or somewhere else...?" Mao tilted her head as she asked her question, retrieving her boxed lunch. The bento was sleek and black with her name engraved into it in neon green Japanese characters. Mao really didn't have any plans, and she didn't mind eating with someone else if they didn't get too nosy or strange. She felt that he wouldn't be too invasive, but she maintained more than just a safe level of skepticism. Her trust was not handed out to just anyone. Honestly, Mao just wanted to eat. Breakfast had not been an option with her father's goons following her every step. Their presence was annoying and she lost all of her appetite in their company. Her senior didn't seem like a bad guy so far. A bit of a goody two shoes, but not a bad guy. She preferred a goody two shoes to antagonizing douches any day.

Mao retrieved a juice box out of her bag, piercing it with the attached straw. There was an image of a kiwi and strawberries on the front, and she drank it slowly as she waited for his answer. The fruity taste kept her impatience at bay, and her hunger. Mao shared a lot of traits with children after all: impatience, generally uncensored speech, and her disdain for all things academic. She wouldn't be patient for very long. She was focused on immediate gratification, satiating her hunger. She wouldn't be deterred for very long.

"Here or somewhere else...?" Tadashi would stand and grab his satchel bag slinging it over his shoulder, being a tad bit careful seeing as he had his notebook inside it. "Let's go to the school cafeteria, I think you'll be amused by the quality of food and service the school provides... Like coffee and espressos." In a bout that could be considered mind reading, Tadashi had used his knack for reading people to assess what an underlying desire or thought might be. Seeing Mao laid back all slack and disinterested, fidgeting slightly as she sat all deduced to him that his junior partner might be the caffeine dependent type. It was just a hunch, but if he was wrong about it all she would do is not go for the beverage. No harm done.

"Follow me, It's not too far off." Tadashi would make his way up and out, being sure to keep a good pace for Mao to keep up. When more space was made available for them to walk, he would place his hands in his pockets looking down at the girl (Mao). "I don't mean to pry, but the file had some information about you to read. Nothing major just some simple background, but I'd prefer to hear it from you directly. So, if you wouldn't mind at all. Tell me about yourself, if you'd like I could start with the intro." The way Tadashi talked and walked was less formal than how they first met, none of it for show and was genuine by all intents and purposes. If she (Mao) agreed to talk about herself, he would meander along the halls easily until they reached the double doors reaching the cafeteria. Present inside the room was a high quality spread of different vendors for food and other products. There was the main cafeteria line, dishing out the options for lunch that day; the selection and grade of food unique to the school and superior than the standard school fair. Off to the side was a small counter where one individual was making coffee and other products for the students, and separate from all that in the back was an 'a la carte' counter selling snacks, treats, drinks and other neat items for students to have if they weren't in the mood for anything the other counters were serving.

Tadashi smiled actually missing the excellent food that was served at the school. Looking down to Mao whom he hoped was at least a little impressed; some of the students here had ridiculously high standards and were snobs. With a nod towards the coffee counter he smiled a bit wider. "Alright, let's grab our food and get a table together." With a good look around the room he spied a table near the window and decided to choose that one. "How about there, the view will be nice." He didn't know about Mao but Tadashi definitely preferred bad weather compared to calm, he couldn't exactly say why- but something about it resonated with him.

Stepping off to get his food, he would hurry slightly int he hopes that no one would steal their prized seat, he grabbed a simple hot lunch of chicken teriyaki, rice, veggies and miso soup placing it on the table before another group showed up. He gave them an apologetic smile, but they left rather perturbed looking for another table. Either before or right after Mao joined him, he would excuse himself to grab a cup of tea and promptly returned from the coffee counter holding a cup of mint and jasmine. He didn't drink coffee very often. With a sigh, Tadashi sat down with a sigh and smiled looking at his food rather excited to have some. "Thanks for the meal." He quietly spoke before setting his plate and scooted forward. He would listen if Mao had anything more to say about herself, having been sure to listen to her intently before they arrived here as well as after they sat. He always tried to be polite and genuinely listen to people.

Mao stood shortly after Tadashi, sliding her own bag over her shoulder, adjusting the strap for a second before waiting for him to lead the way. She wouldn't know where to go in the first place as she didn't study the map from the folder very well. She ruffled her already spiky short hair, black locks in complete disarray upon her head.

"Let's go to the school cafeteria, I think you'll be amused by the quality of food and service the school provides... Like coffee and espressos."

While noting it was strange that he knew to mention coffee, Mao simply shrugged it off as a good guess, as many people had a dependency on the substance, "Cool with me, a double espresso would be great..." Mao almost sighed, relieved to hear that she would get her morning dose of caffeine after all. It was in everyone's best interest that she become caffeinated before classes began, albeit mainly her own. Adjusting her bag, Mao became even more in a rush to get to the cafeteria. Food and coffee was calling her name, and it was incredibly seductive.

"Follow me, It's not too far off."

Without another word, Mao followed Tadashi quietly, snagging her rain coat quickly to avoid her green eyeshadow from getting ruined by the rain. As she was not far off in height from him she managed to keep up fairly well. There was only a few inches difference in their height at most. For the most part, Mao looked to the scenery, until she felt a pair of eyes on her, turning her head to look up at Tadashi.

"I don't mean to pry, but the file had some information about you to read. Nothing major just some simple background, but I'd prefer to hear it from you directly. So, if you wouldn't mind at all. Tell me about yourself, if you'd like I could start with the intro."

Mao bit the inside of her cheek in order to keep her facial expression from giving away the anger she felt toward the school, What the hell...? Who does the school think they are? She bit down harder until she managed to get control of her emotions, only letting go when she was certain she wouldn't say anything too incriminating. She wasn't sure what the school had already disclosed. Not that she really minded, but it would have been nice if they had asked her before giving out such information. Then she immediately realized her father had to give that kind of permission, immediately infuriated with that damned politician, "Father is a politician, mother's an actress. I've switched back and forth between homeschool and private school my entire life. I've never been what most would call academic. Trouble, yadda yadda... My father only convinced me to come here due to the arts and athletic programs. Your turn I'd say, Senpai." Mao did not spend a lot of time explaining herself and yawned when she finished, not particularly enthusiastic to bring up the past, or her father. While she did not know Tadashi well enough to have a genuine interest in him or his past, anything was better than talking about her own. Mao kept her hands in the pockets of her raincoat.

Once inside of the cafeteria, Mao's mood brightened, and she removed her coat once more, dusting her uniform off in a half-assed fashion. The expensive food was nothing Mao wasn't already accustomed to due to her upbringing, but as she was a very honest girl, food was always a welcome sight. She took in a deep breath to admire the aroma of all the food in the room, then smiled a bit. The options was new, as she was not used to having such a variety to choose from at school. Not to say her previous schools were slim pickings, but Airdalen was definitely raising the bar.

"Alright, let's grab our food and get a table together. How about there, the view will be nice."

Tadashi definitely didn't have to say that to her twice, "Sure thing.." She replied, carefully placing her bag in her seat. While she wasn't ecstatic about rain, it was far better than super hot summer days. Those were the worst, one could only strip so much before the cops were called. Besides, it would be all over the tabloids if a wealthy girl bared it all in the public. Mao chose to eat crab legs, some steamed vegetables, chocolate fudge cake and had a double espresso as her only source of liquid. Mao didn't mind that Tadashi stepped away. She wanted to dig into her food, but when he returned she was reminded of her manners before she took a bite, thankfully.

"Thanks for the meal."

Mao quietly clapped her hands together, "Itadakimasu~~" Mao chimed in a very enthusiastic manner. The food on her plate was calling her name, and she could not resist the temptation any longer. Mao took the first bite of her vegetables, choosing to eat them first, and closed her eyes satisfied, washing it all down with a sip from her extremely sugared down coffee.

Tadashi was well aware of how secretive his junior was. It didn't necessarily bother him, but it would be an obstacle that he would have to overcome. Mao didn't seem to like people prying into her business, the mention of the school giving him information about her made the girl fidget some, but enough for him to notice. It was slightly concerning, usually people who were so reactive about information leaking about them had something to hide. Or, it was the case usually. "Father is a politician, mother's an actress. I've switched back and forth between homeschool and private school my entire life. I've never been what most would call academic. Trouble, yadda yadda... My father only convinced me to come here due to the arts and athletic programs. Your turn I'd say, Senpai." "Hmm, interesting. Well~ my father is a politician as well, the Japanese ambassador to Canada. My mother owns a flower shop in town, the two are no longer married.-" Tadashi paused for a second hitting a painful speed bump when the thought of his brother came up. He wouldn't dare refuse to acknowledge him for the sake of avoiding pain, but there was a still a sting with confessing of his passing. Thinking about it now, he hadn't even told Gen that his brother had passed away. Internally he frowned, feeling that he had done an injustice to his closest friend. "I have a younger brother- who is no longer with us... Your father was well to recommend this school for the arts and athletics. I can't say that I'm the best student either, I prefer to study music."

Taking a break from talking, he began to eat some food before moving to his tea for a sip. "Here, in case you're curious."

Tadashi would give her the folder which had the information the school held about her. If she took it, it would be the most basic of info. Name, date of birth, their last school, nationality and any information that would have been volunteered by her or by her parents to include allergies to foods or plants. Everything else was generally instructions on how to welcome the student to the school, some services and things to mention about the school and the area as well as ancillary information on rules, programs and the like. He wondered if this would effect their current conversation. He ate quietly watching her mull over the folder if she decided to peer through it. If not he wouldn't stare. Tadashi would leave the ball in Mao's court now for conversation, perfectly comfortable with silence during their meal. He also didn't want to waste any time with too much talking, that would mean he couldn't eat his entire lunch. Not to mention it would probably push Mao further away.

Any normal student might have been put off by her closed off nature. Her senior however wasn't your 'average' peer. He understood that everyone behaved in some way for a reason, there was always a 'why' behind someones actions or words. He was curious to what Mao's 'why' was. People were interesting to him, figuring them out and seeing how they analyze and perceive the world around them. He as skilled enough to not make it known that during the entire course of their meeting, he was cross analyzing ever (Mao's) end of the equation, Tadashi presented himself as an open book. Not giving too much information that she might not care about, but not avoiding the details either. It was delicate balance talking with people, but he liked to be personable and open. Despite all that had happened to him.

"...Hakushiro-san."

Noting his shock, Arietta remained quiet for a moment. It was not often that she witnessed Ryou disheveled, actually, she couldn't remember a single time, but perhaps her memory wasn't a great judge of that? It wasn't like she was around him all of the time after all... What she did know, was that something definitely took place for a second, something far beyond her own understanding. As she was not well acquainted with Ryou, Arietta had no way of knowing what, but she understood that it was best not to comment on what had taken place. At least he remembers my name... Arietta thought fondly to herself, her smile widening a tiny bit. Sure, most of the Senior class knew each other's names quite well, but it was very evident that Ryou wasn't like the others, if his speech had been any indication, "Gomen, Gomen. Sorry to startle you, Giou-San." Arietta apologized, playing it off as her own carelessness, hoping to avoid burdening him unnecessarily.

"Go ahead."

While unaware that he had not heard a single word of her request, his hesitation made it clear that he had either missed some of her question, or was still in a state of shock from whatever had happened moments ago. Arietta's gaze softened a bit, an appreciative smile forming on her lips. After that auburn haired boy (Rocco), Arietta wished for nothing more than simplicity. Being accepted felt nice, she missed that. Even though Ryou was not Arietta's usual crowd, not being immediately denied definitely helped to boost her confidence after the low blow she had received before the announcement and after she walked on the stage. Arietta slowly took a seat across from Ryou, quietly and neatly preparing her tray. All she could think about was being ditched for those basic girls. UGH! That loser has no taste, obviously! Like I'd go out of my way to learn his name after all of that? As IF! Arietta screamed to herself internally. On the outside she was calm and collected, but inside, she wanted to slap the smirk off of that guy's face (Rocco).

Arietta heard quite a bit of the chatter about herself and Ryou, but simply smiled, quietly scoffing before beginning to politely eat her meal. She did not have time to amuse or deny such rumors.... not that she would completely deny them. Being associated with a guy like Ryou would only boost her popularity after all. However... She did catch Tadashi going to a table with a very exotic girl (Mao) out of the corner of her eye. Immediately she felt a pang of jealousy, but Arietta took a bite of her salad, lingering on a chunk of strawberry to keep herself busy. It was only a date to the dance. Sure, we had a bit of fun afterwards, but nothing major happened. Who he spends time with is none of my concern... Though I am really glad I'm with Ryou... I would have looked pathetic if Kio-kun sat with her while I was alone like Kim-san... Her blue eyes drifted to Devone for a moment, contemplating if she should invite the dark haired senior to join or not. Arietta ultimately decided against it, figuring that as she had been Ryou's date to the dance, he would have invited her over if he wanted to be in her company. It wasn't her place to invite others over, Ryou had been there first, she would ultimately respect that.

Deciding it had been quiet for a bit longer than she was comfortable with, and wanting to look a little closer to Ryou in front of Tadashi, as he had his own companion of questionable nature. Arietta had no idea it was his junior partner, as she had never seen the girl before. Grasping for straws, that was the only way she could describe how she felt when it came to looking for a point of conversation with Ryou, "Your speech, it was interesting." Arietta stated calmly before taking a quiet sip from the pinkish fruit smoothie she had chosen before sitting it back down. She had not had a chance to comment on his direct speech before, but now seemed like a better time than never. Besides, she had to make conversation now that her date from the night before was seen with another girl, "I hope the Basketball team does well this year. Good luck." She absentmindedly played with the straw, taking a small bite of her salad again, chewing slowly. She was in no rush to scarf her food down, nor was she in a huge rush for their conversation. A gentle flow of conversation was always best, especially since the cafeteria was already bustling with people and noisy as hell. Besides, she figured that Ryou wouldn't be thrilled to have a chatterbox has his lunch companion... It was ideal to keep her words few and far between, if possible.

"Hmm, interesting. Well~ my father is a politician as well, the Japanese ambassador to Canada. My mother owns a flower shop in town, the two are no longer married.-"

Listening to his family status, Mao accepted that his family might be more complicated than even her own. She was confident that the ambassador would likely be gone more than present. Something like that had to be rough on a kid. Obviously neither of them were little kids anymore, but she figured it was still difficult all the same, "Mine is the Chairman.." she sighed, obviously not very fond of her father's line of work. Mao took a bite of her food, letting him continue talking. The less she had to say about herself or her family the better she felt about this whole situation. She couldn't have a bunch of people prying into her business, so she was glad that her senior for the most part left her family life and past as she decided to describe it, prying no further than she was willing to go.

"I have a younger brother- who is no longer with us... Your father was well to recommend this school for the arts and athletics. I can't say that I'm the best student either, I prefer to study music."

What she never could have anticipated is that the boy seated across from her had lost his brother. Mao's eyes shifted from her plate, to Tadashi, then back down. She had never know anyone who had died at a young age, she found it hard to even imagine that one of her younger cousins could die before she graduated. She had no siblings, so that was the best comparison that she could find at that moment, "I'm sorry for your loss." She stated softly, doing her best to be respectful. Losing his brother had to be extremely painful, so it was one of those moments that Mao could not be aloof and ignore what was going on around her. She had to say something, it was expected and she'd feel like a complete ass if she didn't, "I'm an only child, but I'm sorry something so tragic has happened to you." She added before taking a drink from her coffee. She was a lot less fidgety now that she had caffiene, and a little more willing to speak.

"Here, in case you're curious."

Taking the folder, Mao began to scan it quickly. She was very quick at reading, a graffiti artist had to look over their work fast, so she became quite skilled at reading and looking over charts or pictures at a fast pace. Nothing seemed too out of the ordinary, except a few details her father put in about her fighting or skipping classes at her previous schools. She glared down at those details, knowing that it HAD to be her father who informed the school. He was a total traitor! Rolling her eyes, she closed the folder and slid it back to Tadashi's side of the table. Can't that damned old man stay out of my business for once in his life!? Mao thought to herself irritably. She remained quiet for some time, only picking at her food after reading the folder.
When the bell rang, Mao silently chugged her entire cup of coffee and wiped her mouth with a napkin. She gathered up her mess and glanced to Tadashi, "I have to go to Swimming Practice today." She stated, slowly walking to dump all of her trash into the bin, adjusting her bag on her shoulder. She had a general idea of where the building was, but she wasn't entirely sure. She would have to leave now if she wished to find it on time and get changed. Mao literally had no time to waste, "See you around Senpai." She stated before waving, running off rather quickly for a girl. She wasn't the most athletic, but she was far from being 'fat'. She liked to take care of her body whenever possible, and sports were always fun!

When she arrived at the designated building after five minutes of searching, Mao went ahead and entered, going to the women's locker room and changing into a school issued bathing suit. As she was close to being flat chested, barely a B cup, it didn't really bother her to show this much skin. However, even if she had more to flaunt, her mother raised her well, skin was just skin and she would not be proud of herself if she ever judged herself or someone else for how they dressed. How someone dressed did not define who they are. If they preferred revealing clothes that was fine with Mao, but it was also fine if someone preferred super conservative attire as well. She felt there was no 'proper' way to dress so long as all the sexual organs were concealed and women covered their breasts outside of breastfeeding. Mao washed off under the showers and wiped her makeup off before waiting on the sidelines for others to arrive in the Pool area.

In the end Tadashi would feel guilty. He wanted to be open, but it always felt as though he was trying to make a sob story when he confessed about his brother's passing. He combated this with his delivery method, speaking with enough emotion to get his message across but made sure to keep things on a 'matter of fact' type of curtness. It wasn't healthy to dwell on it, that's what his therapist was for anyways. So no need to dump his problems and make a spectacle out of himself or pander for sympathy.

"I'm an only child, but I'm sorry something so tragic has happened to you."

He nodded in appreciation, trying to be cognizant of her own reaction. Their conversation seemed to flow on naturally after that, with him handing her the file so she could look it over. Half paying attention to her as he ate, Tadashi could see that Mao was irritated with what she found. He took back the folder at placed it in his satchel bag and quietly ate, the entire time gauging and reading his junior without staring at her. She didn't seem to want to talk, so he wouldn't force her to engage in conversation. Their meal went by without a hitch, eating his own food and drinking his tea. "Well, that's the day."

"I have to go to Swimming Practice today."

"No trouble, you have your own things to do." He would gather his things and bring his tray along to throw the trash away. He realized how different his Airdalen was compared to other schools in Japan. Most schools, the students were required to clean up at the end of the day. It taught respect for where you work and spend time, as well as teamwork with your fellow students and peers. Airdalen being so up-scale, they didn't necessarily require students to do that. But he figured that he would help this week, he used to help clean the school when he was younger. Not all the time, but at least once a week.

"See you around Senpai."

Tadashi would smile an wave towards Mao as she ran off. "Take care, Nozomi-San." With that, he would head off out of the cafeteria to the meeting space for the Inryoku in Waiting club. Fortunately it wasn't that far away and he found himself arriving where 4 people had gathered. He recognized one instantly as Shiori making a smile appear on his face and his eyes turned more red. He walked over noticing Rhys walk by and nodded, recognizing him as the swim club president. How impressive it was that a junior was leading the school team. He closed in recognizing that all 3 girls here were actually president of something in the school. "Kitogawa-chan, it's good to see you again." He smiled down to his old class mate, eyes becoming slightly more red. In proportion, each iris was 4/5's red with purple resting near the top. His expression was at ease but genuinely happy to see Shiori seeing as he was meaning to talk to her for a while. "By the way, congratulations on being nominated president. I'm sure you'll lead us well." His words were genuine as he spoke, flowing out of his mouth rather easily giving her a few compliments. The girl honestly deserved it.

His gaze shifted to Akira and Tsukiko calmly smiling at them both as well. "Hello, I hope I'm not interrupting. My name is Kiomine Tadashi, I'll be joining you in the host club. And I'm sure you-" He would nod to Tsukiko especially "Will be seeing me in Resonance. You must be a wonderful musician to be nominated as a Junior. Very impressive." He had no idea that Tsukiko and Shiori were related and honestly missed it. Subtle things like that he could pick up rather easily, but for some reason the details evaded him.

Turning back to Shiori he adjusted his satchel. "So, Kitogawa-Chan. How have you been? We haven't spoken in a..... Very long time." He made light of his absence, speaking freely with an air of casualness. He didn't know of her troubles recently bothering her, or anything untoward happening with his classmate. But he was curious and wanted to get to know the smartest girl he remembered in his class. That's how he remembered her. The quiet, smart girl that was as quiet as he was when he was younger. How had she changed? What hadn't changed? They didn't speak very much when they were younger, but hopefully that would change. He didn't want any regrets with getting to know the people at his school.

Mai had returned back to their little group after drying and changing. He did notice how absurdly large the uniform she had on wore. Bishop had to actively remind himself that Mai was an actual high school student and not a toddler or elementary school student. He felt bad for having to actively remember and acknowledge Mai in that light, but he found it somewhat challenging. Their time together wasn't for very long however as the bell rang forcing Bishop to scarf down his apple and pack up his lunch. “T-thank y-you fo-for l-letting m-me join y-you for l-lunch to-today Ak-Akira-kun and B-bishop-kun.” "It's no trouble at all. That's what friends do." Bishop nodded to backup Akira. "Today is also the first day of swim team practice. I can't be late."

“I-it’s c-club time s-so I s-shall b-be g-going. A-ah g-good l-luck wi-with s-swimming Bi-bishop-kun, and A-akira-kun go-good l-luck with I-inryoku.”

"Thank you, Mai-chan~ I'll go first. I have a couple of things to do."

"See you both tomorrow." Bishop waved goodbye to both girls (Akira and Mai) and hurried off back to his locker. He had eaten enough to sustain him for practice, most of it was gone anyways. He put grabbed his gym back and headed to the boy's locker room before stepping inside and hurriedly changing. His mind was looking forward to getting clear and focusing on his favorite sport and the one things he seemed to excel at extremely well. With practiced movements, Bishop stripped down and got dressed again in a pair of skin tight black jammers, with green and blue trim along the waist band and sides. He emptied his gym bag except for a few items like fins, water bottle, orange slices towel and some other ancillary accessories used for conditioning or technique and headed out towards the pool.

Making his way towards the door, he heard a burst of squeals and laughing making him curious. He stepped outside hearing the odd sounds no reverberate from around the glass interior and looked over to see several girls taking pictures of another male student who was posing (Johnny). He blinked curiously and upon seeing the taller and muscly student suddenly got very subconscious of himself and held his bag a little closer to him. Walking the opposite direction he tried his best to ignore what was happening over on the other side of the pool. He glanced about seeing Mao, fortunate that it wasn't just the other two boys and the club fan-girls snapping photos. He wanted to stretch but again, was feeling a little insecure about himself thanks to the other student in the pool area doing a photoshoot. With a sigh Bishop set his bag down on one of the bleachers, adjacent to the corner of where the pool ended and grabbed his goggles and cap. Turning around he bent down and got into a push up position doing several to warm his chest up, after about 15 he would get up and do arm circles looking away honestly trying to see if the other club members had arrived yet.

As he warmed up and started to get his joints ready, Bishop thought about the day. Hoe Devone had seemingly rejected him in public. Followed by a fellow junior he'd never seen before getting the position of the Swim Club president. Thinking about it now, if that was the case then the boy (Rhys) must have been a good swimmer right? He didn't know if there were any other scholar athlete students at Airdalen, what were the chances at Rhys was another swimming scholar student like him? Either way, he wanted to really train hard today. He was frustrated with the events and wanted to burn all of his energy and anxiety away. Now moving on to performing squats, being sure to get his hips (butt) just below the knees so he could activate his glutes and get them warm as well. Bishop stood facing the pool focusing on this current task, really trying to ignore those girls snapping photos down the pool. <Nothing else matters right now. Just focus on you.> He really shouldn't have to think this hard when it was after school. All that Bishop wanted was a good day. He continued to stretch fully dedicating to his traditional routine, he'd practiced all the steps a million times before. Activate the muscles then stretch the muscles, get everything warm so that the water is cold when you jump in.

Bishop would continue his routine of body movements and stretches getting ready to really dedicate himself to training. If there was one good thing to happen to him today, it was going to be practice! Nothing was going to ruin the sport he loved.

Once she reach the swimming area Arietta couldn't help noticing that one other girl was present, the tanned girl (Mao) that had been siting with Tadashi. Immediately she felt the urge to skip her club, but she managed to contain her immediate and unwarranted dislike for the stranger (Mao), thanks to noticing her junior partner. That is right... Bishop is part of the swimming club.... Does that mean this is competitive..? Immediately Arietta began to worry, not realizing when she had signed up that the swimming club would be a competitive sport. She thought it was just going to be an educational course with a little bit of fun in the pool. Now she would be judged on ability?! Arietta wasn't a terrible swimmer, she had decent form, but as far as stamina was concerned, Arietta's energy reserve was exhausted fairly easy. She was skinny, but she was far from being in shape. She waved to her junior, as contact with him could not be avoided forever. She made a rude mistake, but she would have to move past it sooner or later or it would be catastrophic for their relationship as senior and junior partners.

Shoving her thoughts aside, seeing as the club activities would start soon, Arietta continued on toward the women's locker room without incident and disrobed. neatly folding her clothes and placing them in an empty locker. The blonde turned on the showers and rinsed off her bare skin, shivering at the coolness of the water that descended upon her from the showerhead. After adjusting, Arietta let out a soft sigh to relax her mind before stepping out and shutting off the valve. She then put on her swim suit, frowning at the school issued suit's plainness. She really didn't feel that a one piece was her 'style', but breaking school rules wasn't something that Arietta wished to be remembered for. She would just have to settle with the boring swim attire it seemed, even though they were a fashion eyesore.

Even with her curves, Arietta felt that the suit was a little too modest. Visibly frowning at her reflection, Arietta zoomed out of the locker room only to bump straight into someone. Letting out a gasp of surprise, Arietta seized one of her victim's arms to stable herself. Her blue eyes gazed up, realizing it was the same guy she had nearly ran into the day before in gym class. She blinked in surprise realizing she had crashed into the club captain, a dark pink blush forming on her cheeks, "R-Rhys-san! Oh my god, I'm so sorry." Arietta stammered in a nervous manner, releasing his arm and taking a few steps back to give him a modest amount of space. It was so embarrassing!! Why did she always have to look like a scatterbrain in front of people these days?

Though then again, wasn't he Shiori's date to the dance the night before? The two of them seemed to be growing awfully close, so Arietta got a devious thought in mind. She immediately smiled kindly to the tall male junior, "Now I know why you're captain. I'm pretty new to this, so I apologize in advance. I promise I'll do my best though!" She giggled playfully. Arietta found him attractive so flirting was easy enough. Though she was mostly flirting because he was close to Shiori and it was one of her main goals to ruin Shiori's life piece by piece, at least until graduation. Was it petty? Hell yes it was, it was cruel as hell and she knew it, but Shiori would not give her a break. Shiori was constantly giving her hell for being fake and Arietta hated her for it. Why couldn't she let others be how they wished to be perceived? Was that too much to ask for?

Rhys didn't regret accompanying Shiori safely to the Inryoku club but he knew it was bad form to show up late to Upstream. Picking up the pace, his jog turned into a sprint underneath the rain. He was going to get wet in the water anyway so unlike the other students with their raincoats and umbrellas seeking shelter, Rhys kept running for his destination. Shit. Wish I knew a shortcut.. he cursed under his breath passing Yuuki and her male companion. He gave the familiar girl a quick nod of recognition before continuing on his way, focused on arriving in time. He wasn't well acquainted with Yuuki but he wouldn't soon forget her kindness in offering him a drink. Small gestures like that stuck with him because he was used to being judged by face value as some delinquent.

Finding the athletics department of campus was the easy part but locating the rest was a problem. As a junior president, he had never frequented Airdalen's indoor pool before so he had to stop in his tracks and ask sophomores hanging around for directions. Fortunate to have run into friendly enough people, he reached where the locker rooms were located hopefully not too late for the starting club time. He didn't wear a watch and he didn't want to waste even a second pulling out his phone to check. Not good Rhys. Your scholarship could be on the line. As the pressing issue crossed his mind, his chest collided with someone who had just exited the female locker room. His instincts kicked in, catching the girl in his arms and taking a step back to burden her weight from the momentum.

"Are you alright?" he asked the question instantly, wondering if she was hurt or there was a problem in the locker room to make her dash out so quickly. The collision stole his attention from the rush, directing his focus to the locker room before he looked down at who he was holding. Rhys didn't expect to gaze down into familiar eyes. "R-Rhys-san! Oh my god, I'm so sorry." Rhys cracked a smile before laughing because the coincidence of bumping into the same girl again was uncanny. The laugh didn't last long but eased his stress, Arietta regaining her composure, releasing his arm and distancing to what was considered appropriate personal space. He did much the same not wishing to make his acquaintance uncomfortable. It was only when they were standing apart that he became painfully aware that Arietta was wearing a swimsuit. He cleared his throat, not desiring to let his eyes wander. Arietta was a senior and one he didn't know very well that might take offense. From what he did manage to eye on casual glances, she was beautiful. Of course, he had seen her before but not like this. "It's fine, again. I was in a hurry so let's call it even blame." He rubbed the back of his head, his hair wet from the rain.

Her smile assured him she was fine, "Now I know why you're captain. I'm pretty new to this, so I apologize in advance. I promise I'll do my best though!" Rhys' eyes widened slightly before narrowing to normal as he remembered why he was in a hurry to begin with. He was comforted by the fact he was in the area of the club but there was still the pressing issue of how to run the first swim team practice. He barely had time to think it through and plan it out. "There is no reason for you to apologize this early on. New or not, you can count on me. I'll be the one to apologize later if I can't help you reach your full potential. Now.." his brown eyes looked around for the male locker room across the female's as he turned his back to her. "I should get ready. See you at the pool, Arietta-san." He sounded serious and determined in his final words before parting ways, meaning every word down to the last syllable. He understood being elected was a heavy responsibility for him to bear and it wasn't everyday that a position of importance would be passed onto him. It was an opportunity for Rhys to prove himself.

Rhys emerged from the locker room to eye a mixture of familiar and new faces among the members of the Upstream club. He noticed a blonde boy (Bishop) impressively undergoing stretches, Johnny acting as a model for a most random photo shoot and a new face (Mao) by the sidelines that looked athletic enough. Wearing the Airdalen swim jammers, his hair down, chest and back bare, he didn't try to hide the dragon tattoo from prying eyes and brought his fingers up to his lips to whistle loud and clear for everyone's attention. "Listen up. If you missed out on Assembly, I'm Browning Rhys and I'll be leading Upstream from now on. Get in the pool for roll call." He spoke straightforwardly but with an additional authoritative tone, holding a clipboard with every member's name to mark off. He didn't have a vice president or club manager yet to help him out so the duty fell to him to check everyone's attendance or tardiness. His reason for calling everyone into the pool was to get them used to the water's temperature before the real fun began. He also wanted to divert them away from the paparazzi photography club that would distract them.

Flashing lights from the corner of her gaze caught Mao's attention. Was someone seriously taking pictures inside of the swimming area? Wasn't that a bit perverted? Unable to ignore the photoshoot in the corner now that the lights had caught her attention Mao tilted her head in the direction of the cameras flashing. Almost immediately Mao's nose crinkled in disgust as she watched for a moment, trying not to jump to any assumptions, but based on what she saw, it was hard to keep an open mind. Sure, Mao was all about embracing one's body image, but a photo shoot was a bit much, it pushed the lines of comfortable and was dangerously close to arrogant. Sure, her mother was an actress and participated in several shoots, but that was her mother's profession and she was paid very well to do so. Her mother didn't do it just for the attention or to show off her body, she did it to provide for her family more than anything, to pay bills. The matter of the boy's intentions aside, Mao felt the photoshoot was a bit distracting. She really hoped the photographers would leave before practice began. With an annoyed huff, Mao turned her back on the scene and decided to stretch while she had all of this free time on her hands. I shouldn't judge... but sometimes people make it so difficult... Mao was giving herself a hard time because she felt that no one had the right to judge anyone, but in the end, she was still a human and had opinions she could not always control.

Wasting no more time, Mao extended her arms as high as she could above her head until she felt the muscles warming up, extending them to the opposite side as well, making sure the muscles were not tight or unprepared for the activities that would soon follow. The last thing she wanted was to be the lame girl that got a muscle cramp on the first day of practice. Once she finished with her arms, Mao then put her left foot on the bench in front of her leaning in until her leg met her chest, slightly putting pressure on her leg that was bent before straightening back out. She did this with both legs several times. Shuffling her shoulders around a little once she was done. As Mao continued to stretch other parts of her body she noticed a blond haired boy that was already doing the same thing (Bishop). Seems someone else had the idea first. At least someone takes this seriously. She thought to herself with an impressed smile, glad that she wasn't the only one who was passionate about sports. It would have been really lame if no one else gave a crap about competition. Isn't that what sports were all about anyway?

Taking a drink of water from a bottle she rummaged out of her bag, Mao managed to finish her stretches a few moments before the club's captain arrived. He was not in swim attire yet, so she had a few more moments to prepare her mind, but also She looked him over, trying to size him up. She didn't know him, but she was competitive and she wouldn't be able to respect someone who wasn't as skilled or even more skilled than she was. Hm. He looks like he'll do a good job, but looks can be deceiving. Mao thought, smirking to herself. Just as her thoughts ended, Mao witnessed a blonde (Arietta) bumping into the captain. He managed to steady her smoothly enough, so his reflexes were pretty good as far as Mao could tell. She also gathered that the blonde girl (Arietta) and the much taller male must have known each other. She came to that conclusion because the swim captain laughed shortly after their collision. Then the two became awkward, much to Mao's amusement. While she wasn't one for drama or other irritating things, occasional moments like this did pique her interest. Mao bit back a smirk as she simply watched the events take place from the sidelines. She did appreciate a good show now and then. They seem friendly. She thought to herself, almost laughing, realizing this club would be far more interesting than she had originally imagined.

Knowing it is wrong to eavesdrop, Mao turned her attention away from the duo and sighed a bit. Deciding to do something more productive, Mao turned her attention to one of her teammates, "Good luck." Mao called over to the unfamiliar blond male (Bishop) that had been stretching and warming up long before she had. She smiled casually, giving him a thumbs up. They were on a team now, so she felt it would be a good idea to build relationships with her fellow swim team members even if it was a little exhausting to go out of her way to do so. How do some people have like thirty friends and a million acquaintances? Doesn't it get tiring knowing that many people...? Mao pondered for a moment but shook the thought away. Thinking on it too hard would only annoy her anyway. Mao put her swim cap on, tucking all of her hair short ebony strands of hair inside of it.

"Listen up. If you missed out on Assembly, I'm Browning Rhys and I'll be leading Upstream from now on. Get in the pool for roll call."

Gold colored eyes scanned Rhys now that he was in proper swim attire, but only for a second or two. Not bad. She thought to herself snatching up her goggles before heading over to the edge of the pool and jumping in first in a very enthusiastic manner. If one thing was certain, Mao did not have to be told twice when it came to hopping into a pool. She loved water and she loved competition even more. Shortly after going under Mao surfaced and wiped her eyes. Now that she was in, Mao finally put on her goggles, letting them hang loosely around her neck until she needs them.
